My personal headcanon is that Es would be reaaallly tall when they grow up.
Resently I saw screenshots from the gekkan shoujo Nozaki-kun. So my brain started working. And I redraw some with Es and Fuuta.
At these sketches we have. The dynamics of two different friends, always joking with each other, fits perfectly with their relationship with Fuuta if they were normal(At least for me). And when they met they have one brain cell.
We'll omit the context of Hori and Kashima's original dynamics and just look at what we see on the screen.

Es, joking about Futa's height is very LOW of you.

If you like a school comedy of the absurd, take a look. I really love this anime.

The Amazing World Of The Chasing Goblin Slayer Rings
Manga and anime have developed into a global phenomenon, with Japanese animation becoming a favorite pastime of people across the world. Have you ever wondered what it’s like to be a professional manga artist? What does anime look like from both sides - from the creator's perspective and the reader's? This article sheds light on the wide variety of jobs that are involved in making an anime series, along with their benefits, challenges, and opportunities. The History of Goblin Slayer Rings A few years ago, if you wanted to see an anime wedding ring in person, you were out of luck. Anime weddings were rarely seen on television or in movies, and the few that were featured didn't typically include rings as part of the scene. However, over the last few years, this has all changed. Nowadays, you can't go a day without seeing an anime wedding scene with some kind of ring present. There are so many anime wedding scenes with rings that it's become a full-blown trend in its own right. And while many people might think that anime wedding rings are just novelty items meant only for cosplay purposes, the truth is that they can be very fashionable and even elegant. So why are anime wedding rings such a big deal now? To understand this, we need to take a look at the history of anime weddings. Up until fairly recently, weddings in Japan weren't all that different from weddings back in the United States. Sure, there were some minor differences due to cultural norms, but on the whole, they were pretty similar. This changed when Japanese animation began to become popular abroad in the Types of Goblin Slayer Rings The anime wedding ring is a popular accessory for fans of the genre. However, what are the different types of anime wedding rings? Here are some examples: -The evergreen anime wedding ring is an old-style ring that was popularized in the 1990s. It features a tree or other floral design inside a metal band. -The shoujo manga-style anime wedding ring is inspired by the rings worn by popular manga characters like Sailor Moon and Megumi Han. This type of ring features symmetrical designs on both sides of the band, as well as intricate details like pearls or crystals. -The kodomo (children's) anime wedding ring is designed for younger fans of the genre. This type of ring features simplified designs and often small gems or jewels. -Finally, there is the neo-anime style Wedding Ring, which features more modern designs and tones. This type of ring is often more colorful and flashy, with patterns and shapes that are inspired by science fiction, fantasy, and animation themes. How to Buy an Anime Wedding Ring If you’re considering purchasing an anime wedding ring, there are a few things to keep in mind. First and foremost, make sure the ring is intended for anime fans. While some rings are indeed designed for a wider audience, many anime-themed Goblin Slayer Rings are specifically designed for those who love anime. Secondly, it’s important to find a ring that fits your budget and style. Thirdly, be sure to research the different types of anime wedding rings before making a purchase. There are a variety of different styles and materials available on the market today, so it’s important to find one that matches your personal preferences. Finally, never buy an anime wedding ring without consulting with your fiance first! He may have specific preferences or ideas about what he would like his wedding ring to look like. Resources for Determining Your Ring Size There are a few things you can do to determine your ring size. One option is to measure the inside of your ring finger. Another option is to have a jeweler or goldsmith measure the inside circumference of your ring. Once you know your ring size, you can find rings that fit at many retailers, like Macy’s and JCPenney. When shopping for rings, it is important to consider not only the bandwidth but also the height and depth of the ring. This information can be found on the manufacturers’ websites or in their product descriptions. Finally, it is important to keep in mind that while most Goblin Slayer Rings can be resized, some may require special tools or a jeweler’s visit to adjust.

Recommended Romance Anime Part 2
Hi Everyone, Someone messaged me asking for straight romance anime recommendations. I already made one list here: (https://weebrecs.tumblr.com/post/157666048002/recommended-romance-anime) and I have included more below. The ones with the *** are movies. I hope you enjoy!!
Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun (9/10) Chiyo is the definition of adorable and loveable, at least for everyone except for the person that she likes. Nozaki is oblivious to the world around him and most of all Chiyo’s interest in him. However, Nozaki’s distance is due to him actually being a respectable shoujo mangaka. In her efforts to win his heart Chiyo finds herself acting as Nozaki’s assistant. Together they undergo hilarious situations and act out possible scenarios for Nozaki’s manga. Nozaki asks Chiyo to help him with brainstorming situations for his romance manga and Chiyo swoons just like the protagonist of the manga, and Nozaki starts wondering where the manga ends and true love begins. It is a great show to watch and has interesting character development as Chiyo goes from a girl that has a simple crush to a girl with real reason and purpose. Romance, Comedy, Slice of Life, School Life
Tumblr media
Lovely Complex (8/10) If you love height differences then this is the show for you. Meet Koizumi who is much taller than the average girl and Ootani who is much shorter than the average guy. They are known as a Comedy Duo and they are constantly play tricks or making gags at the other’s expense. However, they soon learn that they have more in common then they first realized when their crushes end up falling for each other. Then as soon as they both start to realize that they might be falling for each other too the question of their mismatched heights comes up.  Romance, Comedy, Height difference
Tumblr media
Ouran High School Host Club (8/10) Haruhi is an insanely bright and gifted girl that just wants some peace and quiet. She sneaks into a music room to get alone and stumbles into the school’s host club. Frantically she tries to remove herself from the situation and shatters an expensive vase. Since she’s a scholarship student without a lot of money she doesn’t know how she’ll pay to replace the vase. However, the host club has an option for her. Join Haruhi as she meets a delight cast of male hosts that slowly find themselves changing due to Haruhi’s influence. Haruhi starts to learn about life outside of books and the boys learn to love someone. I love how relaxed this show is at times and how crazy the characters and situations are. Romance, Comedy, Slice of Life, School Life
Tumblr media
Skip Beat (9/10) Kyouko is willing to bend over backwards to help her childhood friend, Shou, in his dreams of becoming famous. Out of the goodness of her heart she helps him basically live his life. She thinks that they are perfect together then everything changes when she over hears him telling someone that Kyouko is like is his servant. Furious Kyouko stops supporting him and decides that if she built him to become a famous celebrity then she could do it for herself too. As she grows she meets someone that can help her not only gain her revenge on Shou but someone that might actually treat her right. This is an encouraging love story that shows that people that love you can bring out the best in you Romance, Comedy, Show Business, Revenge
Tumblr media
Akagami no Shirayuki-hime (8/10) This is a modern retelling of Snow White, but this time with a twist: she has red hair. There are two season of this anime and if you love romance animes with a dash of adventure you’ll love this one. Shirayuki is a skilled herbalist who is noticed by a prince. Terrified that she’ll live a kept life she escapes and is rescued by Zen (who is adorable and perfect…goodness I love him!). Zen brings her to his castle and their life begins. Slowly friendship turns into romance. Romance, Adventure
Tumblr media
Akatsuki no Yona (9/10) When I first read the synopsis of this I thought it was going to be one of those off animes that wouldn’t win me over, but I was wrong. This show introduces Yona who is the princess of a well off kingdom, but when the King is betrayed by Yona’s cousin Yona must act swiftly. She escapes danger with her bodyguard Hak (I think you mean Hunk—sorry lol). Together they team up to save Yona’s kingdom. Action, Adventure, Reverse Harem, Romance
Tumblr media
Ao Haru Ride (8/10) After risking everything for a boy she met in a rain shelter, Futaba is ready to turn her life around in high school. She is determined to have friends and be liked by everyone. Her plan is foolproof until the boy she met returns and so do her feelings for him. However, he is different from the boy that had betrayed Futaba in the past. Together they need to learn more about themselves and each other. This show is emotional and shows the sacrifices we all make for those we love. School Life, Blooming Romance
Tumblr media
Fruits Basket (9/10) This show has recently been rebooted and is expecting a second season. It tells the story of Honda who has lost her mother in an accident and goes to live with her grandfather. However, as renovations are being done at her house she lies to her grandfather and tells him that she’s going to live with a friend. When she is actually pitching a tent in the woods. The esteemed Souma family actually owns the woods that Honda hides in and the prince of the school Yuki Souma invites Honda to stay in his house, but the Souma’s have a secret. They are possessed by the Chinese Zodiac spirits, and will turn into their respective animals if they’re hugged by the opposite gender. This series is adorable and super fun to watch. The characters are all special in their own way. Comedy, Zodiac, Mystery, School Life, Supernatural, Romance
Tumblr media
***Hotarubi no Mori e (10/10) I love this movie it is so beautiful. Hotaru has been fond of the mysterious tale of the mountain god since she was six and after she loses her way in the mountain forest, she stumbles into a masked spirit named Gin. Together they begin their unlikely friendship. Gin informs Hotaru that they can play together as long as she doesn’t get too close. They start to spend every summer together and Hotaru helps Gin learn what is means to be human and love someone. Soon they find that the distance that they are keeping between them is slowly shrinking. This movie is epically beautiful, romantic, and heart wrenching. Spirit, Supernatural, Romance
Tumblr media
Ore Monogatari!! (10/10) Are you sick of the romance animes filled with beautiful girls and handsome princes? Well then it’s time to watch Ore Monogatari staring an unlikely anime pairing: Takeo Gouda and Rinko Yamato. Yamato is the definition of adorable and angelic; while Takeo struggles with love due to his tall and muscular build. Takeo’s appearance might be a little rough, but under it all he has a heart of gold. However, few ever see it since Takeo’s best friend Makoto is the definition of an anime prince. Without trying Makoto is a girl magnet and Takeo finds that people only talk to him to try and get close with Makoto. But when Takeo saves Yamato he instantly falls for her. He worries that she’s only being nice to him to gain Makoto’s love, but in truth she actually like Takeo and not Makoto. I love how this shakes up the romance genre and I love Makoto and Takeo’s friendship. Every time Yamato is on the screen I swoon. She is precious! Comedy, Friendship, Romance, First Love, Dorks
Tumblr media
Your Lie in April (10/10) This is one of those romance animes that you hear rumors about. You know it will hurt you, but you have to watch it anyway because it’s a masterpiece. It is a truly enjoyable watch! Plus, the animation is breathtaking. Kousei is a great piano player and under the tutelage of his mother he excels in the competitions.  Then his mother dies and Kousei turns from music and his world begins to turn grey. Until his world us turned upside down by Kaori, an outstanding violinist who is anything but traditional. She is free-spirited and challenges Kousei to join her in exploring music once more. Kousei starts to fall in love with music again and also finds himself falling for the girl that added color back into his world. Together they enhance each other’s musical ability and change each other’s lives. Music, Romance, Mystery, Friendship, School Life
Tumblr media
***Toki wo Kakeru Shoujo (10/10) The last year is difficult for everyone, but for Makoto it is crazy since she can literally jump through time. She doesn’t really understand this new-found power and must learn how to control it. She fosters old and new relationships and might even fall in love, but with all time travel sacrifices must be made. I really don’t want to say too much because it could ruin the plot, but just trust me—watch it. Mystery, Supernatural, Time Travel, Romance

Height Difference
Gundam Wing tried to break pretty much every tradition that existed back then with shounen anime. The “heroes” are terrorists, the bad guys aren’t all that evil, the women are badass, the guys are all pretty boys and a whole slew of other birthday invitation-ripping choices that differentiated it from the rest.
Those apparently include making the lead guy shorter than the lead girl.
Tumblr media
Look at them. Heero is almost half a head shorter than Relena here. Like, how comical is that? To have your killer look up to you? *snicker*
Tumblr media
As you see, the previous pic is not an animation goof. Relena is consistently drawn to be quite a bit taller than Heero in the beginning. What I love about the above pic by the way is the correct anatomy. Heero may be shorter, but he is still male, so his hands are larger than Relena’s.
(Ballroom e Youkoso has greatly sensitized me to this sort of stuff.)
But does this height difference even make sense or did the creators just want to mess with norms?
Thing is, it does. Zechs is one of the tallest guys in the series, barring giants like Rashid or Gwinter Septem. Look at how he dwarfs Noin:
Tumblr media
The dude is seriously tall. So it makes sense that his little sister, who shares his genes, would grow to be pretty tall herself. Plus, they’re from a country that is supposedly located somewhere in Denmark. Have you ever met people from there? Most people end up looking like Noin when they speak to them.
But wait. Heero doesn’t stay that short, some of you will say. He grows taller.
And he does. If we look at the end of the series, Heero has gained some height.
Tumblr media
He is not so blatantly shorter than Relena anymore. But if you look closely, he still is a tiny bit shorter. Due to his spiky hair he may look taller, but the height of their chins and eyes betray their actual height difference.
Personally, I’m all over this. I love that the creators let the Scandinavian character be tall, even if she is a girl and the hero’s love interest. Because in all the shoujo and shounen anime I’ve seen so far, the dudes are at least a full head taller than their girl. And I’m always wondering why they all dig neck pain.
I’m also tired of the whole tall, dominant guy/short, meek girl dynamic.
This is where Heero and Relena break another tradition. Heero never controlled Relena, aside from that one scene in episode 47 which leaves a bad taste in my mouth. She is her own character and actually influences Heero a lot. But they never force the other to do what they want.
And this is remarkable because they are both insanely strong-willed/stubborn, yet have vastly different approaches to things. She is a pacifist, he is a soldier and the whole time it’s a question between two sides of a concept between them, be it war and peace or ruthlessness and compassion. Never mind the whole symbolism with Earth and space.
The show spends a lot of time painting them as the two sides of a coin and like those two sides, Heero and Relena, too, are equal. And that their height difference, in which Heero grows to literally see eye to eye with her, further reflects that, is a beautiful and oh so subtle addition to the concept.
Now, I know that pretty much all of fan art featuring Heero and Relena have Heero be taller than her. So don’t take the following as me knocking the artists. I’m not.
But stuff like the lovely pic in Blind Target?
Tumblr media
So traditional. The creators tend to be more for this:
Tumblr media
Exact same height. And I can see why.

Here's a free ask to tell us how much you love Yoi! :D I haven’t seen someone who loves it as much and that's just so dang cute! You go you!
Oh I'm positive there are people out there who love it even more than me-! xD But I'm a Pisces sun of course I'm going to get overly emotional about it! (disclaimer: You asked for it this gets long)
WHERE TO BEGIN THOUGH?? On my first watch of it, I thought it would be a comeback story for Yuuri, like he totally bombed his first Grand Prix Final, so it would be about how he gets back on top right?? HOW WRONG I WAS.
Oh my goodness all the narrators are so unreliable in this anime it makes me laugh! Viktor is worried he won't be able to surprise the audience anymore? BULLSHIT. Yuuri is worried that he's not good enough and just a dime-a-dozen figure skater? MY DUDE. Yurio worried that he won't make it in the future if he doesn't give it his all on his senior division debut?? BABY YOU HAVE A BRIGHT FUTURE DON'T BEAT YOURSELF UP OVER IT!!!
PLUS HOW THE WHOLE ANIME DOESN'T GIVE A CRAP ABOUT GENDER IDENTITY AND BOYS CAN BE AS FEMININE AS THEY WANT WITHOUT JUDGEMENT??? Guang-hong has a pink room filled with plushies! Yuuri dances eros from the pov of the woman not the playboy!! Young Viktor with long hair portraying both masculine and feminine parts in his skating?? YOU GO BOYS SHOW THEM YOUR FEMININE SIDES!!
AND MY FAVORITE PART OF ALL IS THE WAY ALL TYPES OF LOVE IS PORTRAYED. It's definitely not a shoujo romance! But there's so much love!! and ugh ugh ugh my heart!! I just want Viktor and Yuuri to be happy and in love forever and ever and THEY AREN'T EVEN REAL. WHO DOES THAT?? WHO MAKES FICTIONAL *underlines several times* CHARACTERS THAT YOU DON'T SIMP FOR BUT YOU SIMP FOR THEIR HAPPINESS??? UGH. YOU SEE WHY THIS FANDOM CAN RISE FROM THE DEAD WHEN GIVEN A CRUMB OF CONTENT??? ICE ADOLESCENCE DROPS AND IT'S LIKE A NECROMANCER SPRINKLED LIFE JUICE ALL OVER HUNDREDS OF GRAVES IN THE YURI ON ICE FANDOM GRAVEYARD BUT I WAS THE GRAVE KEEPER TRYING TO TEND THE PLOTS OF LAND WHILE EVERYONE RESTED. I NEVER DIED. IF ANYTHING AS THE YEARS GO ON MY LOVE GROWS AND IT'S SO UNFAIR THAT NOTHING NEW IS COMING OUT.
All I have to do now is collect old merch, scour the internet for fanart and doujins, REWATCH THE ANIME FOR THE SIXTH TIME NOW. Did you know that's a thing on Instagram? In honor of the five-year anniversary we're doing a hashtag yurionreset where we watch an episode every Tuesday like they were being released back in 2016! I just finished episode 3 and OH MY HEART THE WAY VIKTOR JUST GENTLY HOLDS ONTO YUURI'S ARM TO GROUND HIM AT THE END I *dies* YES I'VE WATCHED THIS SIX TIMES NOW AND IT STILL!!! GETS ME!!!! RIGHT IN THE HEART!!!!!
Hoo boy that got long. But as you can see, anon, I am probably not the biggest fan! I've seen posts that really delve into the symbolism and deeper meanings of scenes. I read one about the difference in height between Yuuri and Viktor when they hug in two different episodes and like I don't look for that but I love reading what other people discover! There was another one dissecting the airport reunion scene and it unalived me several times (yes I've died more than once)
And the music, the soundtrack, UGH SO GOOD. The song at the end credits? You Only Live Once?? Makes me cry. The airport reunion scene music? Makes me cry. The piano music when Viktor's asking what he should be to Yuuri?? YOU GUESSED IT. OPENS UP THE WATER WORKS. I don't know what it is about this stupid anime that makes me cry so freaking much but I've probably produced LITERS OF TEARS THANKS TO YURI ON ICE.
Thank you for coming to my TED Talk and letting me indulge in what I hope to be a lifelong love. ;u;

Kaguya-sama: Love is War 2 – 07 – The Aquarium
Tumblr media
LIW’s second season continues to take anime comedy to dizzying new heights and unexpected places. There’s literally no telling what it’s going to throw at you next, and that unpredictability combined with top-notch execution at every level of production means this is a show that keeps getting better and more entertaining.
We begin with Chika and Kaguya learning that Yuu is a briefs man, followed by his passionate assertion that boxer-brief men are nothing but “man whores.” Kaguya is determined to learn what kind of underwear Miyuki wears, she formulates an entire perverted plan in her head before rejecting it, showing just how demented by love she’s become.
Tumblr media
Naturally, that same derangement compels her to ask Miyuki the question casually while serving tea, and Miyuki naturally assumes she’s talking about his preference in girl’s underwear. Not wanting to come off like a cad, he proceeds to describe girls’ bloomers (since anything he’d pick for Kaguya would be hot), but the same traits apply to mens’ boxer briefs, Kaguya loudly proclaims Miyuki is a man whore!
Suffice it to say, this is not proper behavior in the StuCo office of a prestigious school, but this is where Kaguya, Miyuki are. So it’s most inauspicious that Iino Miko should come through the office door just as Kaguya is yelling this, and Miko runs off in fear Miyuki will attack her “next”.
Tumblr media
In the next segment, Kaguya offers to give Miyuki a hand massage as an apology for disparaging him. Her true motive, however, is to use the pressure points in his hand to secrete “prevent-men-from-cheating” hormones of the type released during “se-“.
Note that Kaguya can never complete the word “sex”, but only utters the first half of the word in a high-pitched voice that Hayasaka can’t help but imitate while explaining sex hormones to her.
Tumblr media
The resulting hand massage is a stirring tale of two nervous systems. While Kaguya’s hands are small and soft, they’re causing extreme pain to Miyuki’s hand, releasing stress hormones like beta-endorphins and cortisol. Simultaneously, love hormones like oxytocin and vasopressin are being secreted in Kaguya’s brain. It’s as if the StuCo office has suddenly turned into a biochemistry lab!
With all those love hormones suddenly swimming in Kaguya’s already love-addled head, she gets a little more comfortable and offers to do Miyuki’s back. She ends up on top of Miyuki on the couch, which is again the precise moment Miko decides to enter the StuCo office.
Tumblr media
Combined with all of the misleading things she hears from them (“If I feel any better than this I’ll die!”) the mere sight of two students going at it in the sacred StuCo office is enough to cause Miko to flee in terror once more. Miko’s minimal usage in these first two segments is truly inspired.
Not only is it a means of gradually easing her into the office (if she ever manages to set foot in there, of course!), but it shows just how unprepared an outsider like her truly is for the demented antics of that room. One does not simply walk into that room!
Tumblr media
The opening moments of Segment #3 would seem to hint at a shift to a Kei-focused story, but she’s only there in order to pass on an accursed shougo manga that is 100% guaranteed to make you weep uncontrollably no matter how much or little you like manga or the shoujo genre.
A skeptical Miyuki is converted that very night, and decides that introducing the manga to Kaguya is the perfect strategy for getting her to ask him to go out with her so they can enjoy a flowey, lovey-dovey shoujo manga-like romance.
Tumblr media
But as has been established from her taste in eyes, Kaguya doesn’t really go for common romantic archetypes, and proves a tough nut to crack even as Miyuki has both Yuu and Chika in full agreement that the manga is a must-read tearjerker.
The trio’s enthusiasm for the story causes them to leak too many details and spoilers, and the second-hand synopses still fail to move Kaguya. Heck, she can’t even understand what they’re saying once they’ve all covered each others’ mouths to stop blabbing.
It’s at this point when Miko enters the office a third time to find something strange and horrifying waiting for her. Then as the narrator declares the result (everyone loses but Kaguya), Miko asks if this is really “what happens at the end?” of segments, in a lovely breaking of the fourth wall.
However…this is not the end.
Tumblr media
At this point the episode had a solid-“9” in the bag, but there was still a ton of time left after the end credits, so I was curious and excited about where it would go for the finale. It turns out Kaguya did end up reading the shoujo manga the previous night, and joins the ranks of her StuCo comrades (sans Miko) in the Shoujo Manga Brain club.
The next day is presented as an entirely different anime, one that is a straight-up high school shoujo romance with Kaguya as the heroine and Miyuki and Yuu as competing love interests. It’s as ambitious as it is hilarious.
Everyone’s character design has been “beautified” and their voices either more lovey-dovey (in the case of Kaguya) or more “cool-sounding” (the boys). Heck, even the damn narrator has “gone goofy!”
Tumblr media
Once Chika arrives at school, we learn that the change in her personality is negligible, but she interrupts what was about to become fisticuffs between Miyuki and Yuu for the right to take Kaguya to the aquarium.
In the end, Miyuki wins out by insisting on valiantly escorting Kaguya to the infirmary hand-in-hand. He then manages to ask Kaguya to go to the aquarium with him, only for her to decline since, so overcome by longing for love, she already feels like she’s at the aquarium!
So Miyuki and Yuu go instead, and end up having more fun than they thought they would! Note that at no point did Miko set foot anywhere close to the StuCo office for this latest bout of nonsense. You know what they say: “Once bitten, twice shy…thrice traumatized.”

Strobe Edge...
Recently going through a process of heartbroken and pain..my love one was my high school sweetheart who gotten married... Adele song 'Someone like you' keep popping in my mind... I don't believe and trust in guys.. I don't believe guys will truly love a girl unconditionally.. I don't read shoujo manga but maybe I do watch shoujo anime just to pass my time but never really into it..I always prefer tragic anime or story but not this kind of Happy Ending manga cause this type of guy will never exist.. but I was so wrong...we tend to find a story that would reflect a past story that related to. Hence when I came across this manga it seems reflect between me and my high school sweetheart...
Tumblr media
Unrequited love has always define me and him.. same as Ninako towards Ren.. he was her first love as same as mine ..( even the height difference is same) when I have fallen in love with him he has a gf too.. the only difference is that I never confess to him... Question is.. is it right to fall in love with someone when they have a partner?.. Another question is... Is it right for someone who has a partner to fall in love with someone else when they are supposed to commit to their partner? What I learn.. is when come to love.. there's no explanation and there is no right or wrong.. you just fall in love ..just simple as that... Even though you know is wrong you can't hide your feeling or ignore it.. take a look at Ren.. when he realized his feeling towards Nanoka when he's still with his gf.. he not sure what to do.. he tend to avoid his feeling but in the same time he always wanted to see, notice and care about her but he also know that he has a promise with his gf... It may sound as cheating at first, well it does...but then when a guy really love a girl... They tend to take notice of everything of you.. every small details.. even when you fake a smile but you are depressed they will notice... They even can't even think straight and when they pass by you.. they either act cool or talk loudly to get your attention..another thing is they will get nervous when they are near you even by listening to your voice... all this I fail to notice cause I think he just wan to play around when he has a gf.. I put a blame on him not knowing that he was in a confusion that time.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Remember Ninako ignore and avoid Ren? Trust me guys will truly over think here.. they will not be themself cause they wondering what they did? What can they do for her to not ignore them. They will get agitated and frustrated. Sometimes they know you are avoiding them but yet they still want to be near you and just look at you.. again I didn't realize this.. he stand outside the school gate and yet I ignore him, I didn't know he was actually wanting to see me cause after avoiding him, he got agitated and when I was boarding the bus he shouted my name and say 'i love you'. I was touch but also hurt thinking why can he do all this when he has a gf?
While reading this manga I have cry alot and I'm just like Ninako but I know every love story is different and I need to move on to another love story as I have 'finish' reading this manga... This manga make me realize guys has feeling.. and for my next story, I won't make the same mistake again...

Alternative Selves Snippet
(aka the Wormhole AU where they get caught in the loops of the wormhole and ends up with Shiro as a vampire, Hunk as a skinchanger/Bear Selkie, Lance as a Merman, Keith as a Galra, and Pidge as a magical girl.)
The living room area was quiet. Well, it really wasn’t. The was the slight splash of water in Lance’s tank as he moved around, the slight tapping and clinking of whatever respective projects Hunk and Pidge were working on, the slight hum of the screens Allura and Coran were looking at. The only one being completely silent was Shiro, which Keith was somewhat grateful for given Shiro had been sipping out of a cup and normalization aside none of them wanted to think too much on Shiro’s new diet.
Keith was pretending to fiddle with his bayard, but the truth was he was watching Allura. He thought he’d seen her a couple of times out of the corner of his eye, but now he was paying attention. Sure enough-
"Whatever it is just say it!" Keith snapped, breaking the quiet and causing everyone else in the living room to turn towards him. The Paladin-turned-Galra was glaring at Allura.
"Keith" Shiro said with a slight warning tone.
"I'm not blind. I can see you keep going to say something and then swallow it. I get it. A Galra in the castle isn't something you want, ever."
"That's not it at all," Alllura protested. "Irregardless of your original or current body you are first and foremost a Paladin of Voltron. It's just...there's something about your transformation that puzzles me. And I keep going to ask before remembering you'd have even less of an idea that I."
Shiro sighed. From the set of Keith's shoulders he could tell his surrogate little brother didn't believe her one bit. They were all a bit sensitive about heir new forms, himself included. But with how guilt-ridden Allura was over the debacle, he had a hard time believing she was holding Keith’s form against him. "What's the problem? Even if we don't know the answer, any discrepancy might be a clue to the mess."
Allura nodded. If there was a chance she could provide a clue to fixing this mess, she'd take it. "It's your stature."
"My height?" Keith asked dubiously. It seemed a strange thing to focus on. "No one else changed that much, what makes me unusual."
"Height and general build." Allura clarified. "And it would make sense for the most part that others didn't change in that regard. From what I understand of Mahou Shoujo, they're to humans as Alchemists are to Alteans, in that while they have extra abilities, they are of the same race and otherwise indistinguishable. Hunk has two forms, and while one is an Earth klanmüirl, the other is a normal human and thus shouldn't be different than normal. And Shiro's new species is meant to blend in with humans to better hunt them, so shouldn't be too different appearing on the surface."
Shiro fidgeted uncomfortably, not liking the reminder of vampires being meant to stalk and hunt humans.
"Lance on the other hand, in an exception, having doubled in body length, grown gills, and had his method of movement completely altered. His new species has no reason to pass as human and thus he no longer can either. But a Galra would also have no need of such infiltration ability. As near as we can tell you're a full blooded Galra, and yet while you've gained some small amount of height and mass, you must have noticed you're still far smaller than the Galra we've seem. Almost more like one in mid-adolescence than full grown."
"Okay, but why is that weird?" Hunk asked.
"Yeah, our age is like the one this that hasn't been tampered with." Lance added from his tank
"Huh, I thought Number Five was the youngest?" Coran wondered, stroking his mustache.
"I am. I'm about 15 years old, Keith is 18, Hunk and Lance are 17, and Shiro's 25. So in terms of maturity, I'm in the middle of adolescence, Hunk, Lance, and Keith are mid to late, and Shiro's fully grown, though still classified as a young adult." Pidge clarified.
"And an Earth year is roughly equivalent to a decapheobe?" Allura was smiling, but in a way that looked rather fixed.
"Roughly.” Hunk agreed. “Are you two okay?"
Allura and Coran had both looked rather tense at this revelation. The smiles looked beyond fixed now, practically stepford.
"Quite alright,” Coran insisted “I just, er, remembered I need the Princess to...help me with the thing. Can't leave things on their own, they get all thingy." Coran grabbed Allura's arm and dragged her from the room.
"Okay, did that seem weird to anyone else, or is it just me?" Hunk wondered.
"Just you," Lance answered sarcastically, flipping his tail. He was frowning though, trying to figure out what was going on.
"I think the ages caught her off guard," Shiro explained. "Remember Alteans count their age in centuries. Imagine how you'd feel if you learned the soldiers under your command were only a few months old? And..." Shiro debated saying anything for a moment. He didn’t think his team would enjoy hearing this."I think they also just realized they conscripted a team of child soldiers."
Lance's frown deepened. "We're not kids. And we were Garrison Cadets before this."
"Technically everyone but Keith and I would be considered kids and even Keith would be more of a technicality.” Shiro pointed out. “And even as cadets you were limited to simulators, you wouldn't be seeing anything remotely resembling combat for years."
"But isn't it obvious?" Keith asked, his ears twitching. He wasn’t sure how he felt now. This wasn’t the conversation he was dreading, but he wasn’t sure he liked being considered a child soldier any more.
"How would it be?" Pidge facepalmed, frustrated it never occurred to her. "We kinda got hit by the difference between Altean and human lifespans right away, but we never really said anything about it. In Allura and Coran's day the Alteans were space diplomats. They're used to dealing with other races, some of which probably looked similar but were very different. We're the only examples of humanity they've ever seen. They had no reason to think we were anything but full grown, especially since we never said anything.”
"They. Are. Children!" Allura looked like she was going to be sick. "Fifteen decapheobes? Twenty-Five at the most? I was still hiding behind mother's skirts at that age! I've taken children from their homes and forced them into combat."
"Humans mature faster than Alteans, remember Shiro is still considered an adult." Coran was trying to be reassuring, but was in just as much shock as she was.  He had thought they were, as Pidge put it, young adults. His mind was now replaying different conversations, Pidge claiming she was tired during the teamwork training, Lance’s homesickness, in a new light.
"Only barely from what Pidge said." Allura countered. "I'm a monster."
"I disagree," came Shiro's voice behind them. As had become the norm, no one had heard his coming. He seemed to not be able to help that these days. "And as a currently animated corpse that needs to consume the blood of my team to survive, I think I'm the authority on monsters on this ship." He put a hand on her shoulder.
Allura refused to meet his eyes. "Princess, you didn't take any of us from our homes. The Galra took me and Blue took the rest, you were in cryostasis at both times. I'll admit, this isn't...ideal.” Understatement. “Technically I'm not qualified to by the head of any unit, and the others are just cadets not meant to see battle for years, but the thing is none of us had a choice in this, and that includes you and Coran. We were all swept away in this, and now we have to try and make the best of it."
"You said it yourself, the Lion chooses the Paladin, and the Lions chose us. We can't afford to wait to get the next few years under our belt in training. Zarkon's had too many years as it is,”

Tagging Game
I was tagged by: @emily-cheshire and @i-prefer-the-term-antihero . Thank you both so much! I really enjoy these,but thus time I was super slow,I got no excuse , forgive me ;-;
I made the questions purple '^'
How tall are you?
5 feel 1 inch. That is 154cm. Yeah, tiny, and full grown. I used to hate it,but I've come to terms with it. Also it's my king Arturia's height,at least that's something to be happy about.
What colour and style is your hair?
Pitch black, and well...not really styled? It's pretty long, comes down to the middle of my thighs, and is a strange mixture of straight and wavy(straight the first foot or so,then gets wavy as we go down, curls at the tips) but I swear I've never styled it. It's side parted, with irregular accidental bangs formed from when a part of my hair got caught in rubber cement a few years ago,and I chopped them off close to the scalp, and they grew to become bangs, because obviously they're shorter than the rest. I usually keep it tied in a Jack Vessalius type braid that reaches my lower waist :")
what color are your eyes?
Brown, slightly reddish
do you wear glasses?
Aye,and I'm pretty blind without them.
do you wear braces?
No
What’s your fashion sense?
....it only exists while buying the clothes, while getting dressed....I put my hand in the cupboard and pull out something,if I'm ok with it I wear, else put it back in and pull out something else if I don't like it
That being said,I like simpler clothes with soft fabric. I wear either knee length or slightly longer dresses/frocks(the simplest type, with a stitch at the waist),or jeans(full length, black, blue or brown because anything else gets dirty too easily) with formal collared shirts or casual tops. If it's not collared, I like to have at least part of my collarbones exposed, but all cleavage hidden(yeah I'm picky). Most of my wardrobe is red,so much that my mom gets scared if I reach for something red in a shop, but also a lot of white, brown, maroon and peach, and a few blues, purples and pinks.
And oh yes, black heels, practically the only thing I wear, and everyday the same pair, unless there's some event or trip or something where I know I'll have to run, then I take the effort to take out converse shoes and the pain to tie laces.
Full name?
You all already know. Sanhati Pal.
when were you born?
27th May '97, in the height of the sticky Indian summer. That too around noon.
where are you from and where do you live now?
India, and I still live in the same city too.
what school do you go to?
I graduated from school in 2016. I went to an all-girls' convent. Now I'm in medical school, which is I guess actually university?
what kind of student are you?
The kind that absolutely hates studying but does it dedicatedly anyway. It's ALWAYS been that way. Teachers think I'm studious, but trust me, I'm not. I just push hard.
do you like school?
I loved school from the later half of 6th grade onwards. I guess 7 and half years in the same place gave me a sense of control. I still love my school and muss it. But college... not really. But then I get restless at home without regular classes or work,so I guess I do,to some extent.
favorite subject?
Back in school, Physics, Literature and Biology. Now, Forensics (though no way in hell will I take it up for post graduate atudies) and Orthopaedics.
favorite tv shows?
My head isn't really working but if anime counts,I guess SKET Dance, 07-ghost,Your lie in April,Fate series, Anohana, Little Busters, fmab, Fairy Tail, Noragami, Chihayafuru, Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki kun....what else?
I enjoyed the shows 101 things that changed the world, and You have been Warned, I guess?
My favourite shows at 10 were Art Attack and Backyard Science
Oh ! The first ever TV show I'd ever watched was incidentally an anime called Heidi, girl of the Alps, when I was 5. I recently rewatched it twice, and while there might've been a nostalgia factor for me,I definitely recommend watching it! It's there on YouTube!
favorite movie?
Good grief..... Uh... I'm just gonna list some randomly without order: Brave,Bridge to Terrabithia, Into the Woods, Kimi no na wa, Coraline, Maquia when the promised flower blooms, Brother Bear, Song of the Sea, Spirit Stallion of the cimmaron, Kiki's Delivery Service,Laputa the castle in the sky.
favorite book?
THIS IS AN IMPOSSIBLE TO ANSWER QUESTION but.... I think The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S.Lewis is a good candidate. I love high fantasy and adventure like Narnia,LOTR,but also slice of life books like Ruskin Bond's Room on the Roof. Most of my favourites centre around children or young teen protagonists, and while 90% are in the English language, there are some in Bengali that are close to my heart too. Basically, everything I illustrated in Inktober 2018.
do you have regrets?
Aye,too many to count but that's okay. I've accepted them and moved on. I've acknowledged my faults. I'll never forget, but I won't whine.
dream job?
Book illustrator and doctor. I'm already halfway through the process of becoming a doctor, it's what I've always wanted and I'm happy, but I still crave to illustrate children's novels,YA fantasy and Light Novels.
do you like shopping?
...I never thought about it.. I guess it depends on what I'm buying and with whom,if it's art supplies, knick knacks, interior decoration, books or plushies,DO I ?!! But if it's clothes.....eh. Oh yes,I only go out with my mom,I don't like spending my money,I know if she's with me, she'll pay,and unlike classmates who insist on buying stuff, she'll make sure I don't buy unnecessary stuff I'll regret later.
what countries have you visited?
None
scariest nightmare you have ever had?
Something I saw when I was 6,or at least that's what had ever frightened me so much. And not once, 2-3 times. I honestly don't remember much, but it had something to do with a possessing virus that turned the host's eyes light(i.e. in our case, yellowish, given the usual colour here is brown),made them kill or something, and jumped to a different host if they died. There was something to do with burnt banana trees too(what the hell), though I don't remember well. It had frightened me so much back then that for a few weeks I'd run whenever I saw people with golden irises(incidentally, there were two or more such people in the neighborhood I lived in then),and after that freak for a few months. But that's all in the past, and it kinda makes me laugh at myself now.
Look at me loving Gilbert Nightray more than anything and anyone else now, it's proof that I've long since gotten over that dream.
any enemies?
Probably yeah. It's not something I've actively avoided, and with a temper like mine, you're likely to make some. But hey, that's okay. Also,I don't consider myself an enemy, more like a hurdle at times, and a malfunctioning machine at others.
do you believe in miracles?
I do. It's a miracle we haven't gotten hit by trucks or died till now. It's a miracle we're alive. Life in itself is a miracle. There are a million ways to die, even without people killing each other,in spite of trying to prevent it. And I've grown up seeing these, and I will keep seeing them for the rest of my life. That is the life of a doctor. I've come to realize how fleeting and fragile this life is,and come to treasure it. There are terrible things in this life, but it's also precious, and I've come to be grateful for it. I don't pray for miracles,I don't believe they'll work that way, I've seen too much to think that way. The fact that we're here right now is a miracle in itself. I will never ask for a miracle, but will always be grateful for all the miracles I already have.
how are you?
I'm fine, nothing wrong at the moment.
I tag(it's ok if you don't want to): @maddyisenough @moody-marshmallow093 @madness-of-lost-memories @miloomezai @k-amui @lolpurple @bagel-san @anyone else who wants to do it

The Ultimate Introduction to Hosoya Yoshimasa Part 1 [Everything you should know about Hosoya Yoshimasa #3]
37th Birthday Special
10 February, the ultimate day as a certain baby turns 37. Time really flies... I still remember creating posts for his 36th bday last year in my main account @akaskira
This is taken from a Chinese source: PukiWiki
Translated by me!
Introduction
Tumblr media
Source: 新R25 Interview (Japanese)
Hosoya Yoshimasa [細谷佳正]
Born 10 February, 1982 in Onomichi, Hiroshima.
Height of 175 cm (5 feet 7), Blood Type B
Left hander.
Was a member of Mausu Promotion till 1 July 2014 and has been Freelance since.
Nicknames include Yosshi (used by Ono Yuuki), Posoya-kun (used by Sugita Tomokazu)
Called Hosoyan by fans and Hikasa Yoko
According to himself, has rarely been given nicknames.
Favourite food includes sea urchin. Likes to drink but doesn’t smoke.
Likes ghost story and horror movies but gets scared as hell in haunted houses (click for link!)
Probably can see ghosts - many colleagues have heard real ghost experiences from him.
Okamoto Nobuhiko once said he wanted to go to haunted house most with Hosoya as his reaction is interesting
In the world of Male seiyuu Singers, he is considered to be of mid-high ranking.
Used to do busking and released his own songs.
Sang albums for character Shiraishi Kuranosuke in “Prince of Tennis”
The first album “Medicine or...?” got 7th in Most Daily Played and 10th in Most Weekly Played. The second album “Poision” achieved 3rd in Daily and 6th in Weekly [Oricon Style]
CD or LIVE, his performance is worth a praise. His condition has been good since his first performance, “Prince of Tennis Hundred Song Marathon”. He then received praise for his singing plus dancing in FESTA 2009, and also is the first from Prince of Tennis to have his very own solo concert and album in 2010.
Doesn’t really sing as his characters, so the songs you hear are all his own style.
Seiyuu with the same experiences as him include Tsubasa Yonaga, Kaji Yuuki, Okamoto Nobuhiko etc.
One of Mima Masafumi (Director of audiography)’s favourite seiyuu. It’s like wherever there’s Mima there’s Hosoya
Tumblr media
Experiences
High School
Used to be in fencing and acting clubs, and quit fencing for acting.
Was in a leader position in acting, but didn’t know whether to pursue it.
After that, watched “Martian Succesor Nadesico: The Motion Picture - Prince of Darkness” recommenced by a friend and decided to be a seiyuu as he was inspired by Yamadera Koichi’s character.
Voiced in the remake Space Battleship Yamato 2199 as Katou Saburou, fulfilling his dream of voicing with Yamadera.
Achieved Best Supporting Character Awards in 2014 and 2016 tho he has no luck in MC
Tumblr media
Characteristics
Has a natural mid-range voice, therefore often gets cool / calm Sports Captain roles. To other people, Hosoya can also be seen as a man who’s calm with few words.
Because he started as acting in Western works, he’s better at “natural calmness” performances rather than exaggerated.
Mostly voices young characters from straightforward to cold ones. Also can voice as some bad “Uncle” (Ixion Saga DT as Pet)
Basically after Takamatsu Shinji’s (animator) favourtism, his image has disappeared (this is a compliment)
Maybe because Hosoya’s tone is a little plain (Hey!!) he rarely voices as MC but as supporting roles (MC’s friends etc)
For some reason, always voice some “big Brother” characters and recently, 80% of his roles are muscular guys
Accepted more roles as he grew popular.
Voiced as an insane character in a game “Princess Arthur” and received praise for it.
Before that, also voiced incanely in “Edel Blume” but the game wasn’t good so it wasn’t popular
Common traits of his characters: glasses, prideful, disses, dialect.
Real person is a helpless dork which is totally different from his characters, so may surprise people who don’t know him well.
Started by dubbing in Western shows / movies, so isn’t known in ACG (Animation, Comic, Game) community until his role as Shiraishi.
One of the few who dubs a lot in both ACG and Western films, where he voices in almost every season.
Often receives dialect roles (Osaka, Fukui, Hiroshima etc). Says that his voice is like a plain Ochazuke (rice with tea).
Has very few R18 works.
In BLCD, only appeared for a passerby and never a seme/uke role.
With the exception of Miyano Mamoru and Irino Miyu who both have acting backgrounds, Hosoya being famous even without a R18 character is considered as really special.
People may mistake Hosoya as voicing in more shoujo themed anime due to his popularity with women and large variety, but he actually focuses more on dub and shonen works.
Hosoya EVERYWHERE
In 2016 October, he accepted roles from 12 more works out of his normal ones, and with different varieties as well.
Probably because of overperformance, he hurt his throat and took a break from 23 April 2017 to August 2017.
Tumblr media
Personality
Speciality: plays guitar and likes shooting
Is bad at technology so doesn’t have Twitter or personal blog (except link)
Known as the most woman-like male seiyuu.
Ogata Megumi: “Among male and female seiyuu, the one with most girl powers is Hosoya Yoshimasa.”
Actually also wants to be popular so often asks tips from other male seiyuu
A member of Mizuki Nana’s female team
Proved by a lot of people that he loves to talk about love.
Self-claimed masochist. Is actually also very masochistic
Gets nervous easily and sweats a lot. When he’s nervous, he always speak incoherently / stammers so he’s often teased by others.
Always at the bottom of the food pyramid.
In Free, was bullied by “predators” Miyano Mamoru and Suzuki Tatsuhisa.
Nobunaga Shimazaki: “Sorry—”
Hosoya: “We’re not gonna lose like this!!”
Masafumi Mima: “In Knb, 50% of seiyuu were new and perhaps to calm their berves they decided to tease someone. That someone is Hosoya. Even though he’s the captain, his reaction when bullied is priceless.”
Known as the natural dork, which often comes into topic when he’s not around.
Has a weird way of thinking sometimes.
Often leaves audience and cast speechless (and is usually made fun of later), but can tell he means what he says, and usually still has a good relationship with others.
Likes to not look at the camera in pictures, affecting people around him. Fans have also started to imitate it.
Easy to go along with and humble.
Often calls person with “san” behind and uses respectful language (formal)
Depending on atmosphere, he does call people by their first name and vice versa.
People he calls first names include Ono Kenshou, Osaka Ryota, Ishikawa Kaito etc.
“Will go crazy in unreasonable situations” - Hikasa Yoko
Too many sports roles. Fans often say he can “hold an Olympic on his own” and those roles are still renewing.
Some include tennis, Basketball, baseball, soccer, Volleyball, piano, drums, judo, karuta, Swimming, rugby, ice skating.
Fans often check if he’s voicing in new sports anime - and it’s a common habit.
Seems to also notice himself and talks about doing them sometimes.
Tumblr media
Relationships
Male Magnet.
Attracts both senpai and junior’s appreciation.
Accidentally stepped into a gay bar and was almost harassed.
Even Fukuyama Jun, who doesn’t work with him much, would mention him from time to time.
Kamiya Hiroshi: “He’s a good kid who’s too serious.”
Has many hidden fans in the industry. Ishikawa Kaito has played his songs directly from his phone before.
Others
Likes girls who’s younger but mature big Sister type omg that’s me
Seems to like... boobs, D-cup in particular.
Had a defect where he was born with six fingers on his right hand but had the extra surgically removed.
Was a fan of the manga “Ushio and Taro” so was very happy when he voiced Akiba Nagare in it.
To be continued
I’ve kind of run out of space so I’m going to do a separate post later. For now, I’m so glad I decided to rewatch anime or I wouldn’t have found out about this adorable dork who made me who I am. I just came back from Japan after studying there for about 4 months, and it had just been the best knowing we were in the same country, breathing the same air, almost living in the same city.
While I didn’t manage to go to a Hosoyan event, I would definitely go at least once just to “meet” and see him live.
I love him with all my heart and wish him the best in everything.

Valentine’s Chocolates and Glass Masks
Tumblr media
The romance genre in anime is a little weird, and honestly on the whole the majority of the genre in anime is probably a bit too slow for its own good. “Will they or won’t they” is something most romantic fiction is guilty of, but I think you’d be hard press to come across 150 episode TV series dedicated solely to that premise anywhere else. And this has nothing on the pure silliness that can come with the genre; hand holding, indirect kisses, masked secret admirers, all that good stuff. Really, I’m not here to trash talk romantic anime though, but as I sat down and tried to think about writing a Valentine's Day blog post I just couldn't help but think to myself how romance anime might be the hardest to explain to anyone not in the fandom. I mean, I think I’d have an easier time explaining the plot of any given saga in DBZ than I would explaining “Notice me, senpai” to somebody.
You know what though, I kind of ironically enjoy all of this. Yeah, pure romance anime can be cheesy, but it’s just the right amount cheese that it’s like, c’mon, how can you not enjoy this? Perhaps the worst (or best!) offender of this are older shoujo titles where they can seem almost downright like a soap opera at times. Shows like these are just so full of bizarre, off-the-walls, and over-the-top melodrama that they manage to suck me completely in. They’re heartbreaking, they’re engaging, and the times when they fail at being those things they are hilarious.
My most recent experience with an older shoujo title like this would have to be studio Eiken’s 1984 adaptation of Glass Mask. Now Glass Mask (or Glass no Kamen as it is known by some) is a manga that started life in 1976 and to this day has yet to be finished, with the manga creator Suzue Miuchi stating she would like to finish it soon, but hasn't quite figured out when that will be (move over Hunter x Hunter fans). Having been one of the earlier shoujo titles starting back in the mid-70’s the series is full to the brim with pretty much every cliche and trope you can think of for shoujo anime, and to a modern audience it can often be almost hilarious at times to sit through. It is important to remember that for its time Glass Mask was a trend-setter and arguably if not the creator than certainly the reason why a lot of these cliches became cliches in the first place. Over the years Glass Mask has received its fair share of adaptations and even parodies, and currently has 3 different animes as well as a live action drama series and real life stage plays based on it. I heard the most recent anime, the 2005 TMS adaptation of Glass Mask, does a pretty great job at modernizing several aspects of the series, but unfortunately I have yet to watch that to weigh in so all I can say is that I was inundated with more cliches than I could count and laughed a ton while watching the 1984 series and I loved every minute of it.
Tumblr media
Glass Mask is the story of a young 13 year old girl Maya Kitajima, who has a dream to be a great theatre actress. Unfortunately for Maya she’s from a very poor family, and even more unfortunately for her, she is incredibly average looking with no flair--and don’t worry, the anime will remind you of that fact countless times every episode. Despite her damnable curse of “just looking kind of average” Maya will stop at nothing to pursue her dream and eventually runs away from home after getting a scholarship for an acting school. There, the enigmatic Chigusa Tsukikage notices Maya’s talents and takes her on as her protege. Soon, Maya learns that her mentor Tsukikage was once a legendary actress thought to be truly one of the all time greats who due to a tragic Phantom of the Opera style accident had her face hideously scarred and retreated out of the spotlight.
Tsukikage is looking to pass on her talents to the future generation and eventually pass on her greatest possession, the rights to the elusive Crimson Goddess play--a supposed legendary masterpiece that has not been seen by anyone in decades; not since Tsukikage’s career ruining accident. For some reason the director and creator of the the Crimson Goddess play saw it fit to beseech all the rights to his masterpiece to Tsukikage and thus nobody else has been able to produce this elusive phantom play since. It won’t be easy for Maya and the Tsukikage acting school, as media conglomerate and mega corporation Daito Entertainment will stop at nothing to get the rights to the Crimson Goddess, and isn't afraid to sabotage them at every step of the way. Perhaps Maya’s greatest rival however is the young Ayumi Himekawa, the daughter of an already famous actress who is said to be the favorite to inherit the Crimson Goddess role, and is everything Maya isn't; beautiful, rich, famous and well loved by all, and while not a student of Tsukikage she is more than willing to pass on the rights to Himekawa if Maya fails to prove herself.
It’s easy to already see the cheesiness just from me trying my best to summarize the basic plot, and we haven’t even gotten into the romances yet. Maya’s relationship with the young Yu Sakurakoji is fairly simple at first, as he helped rescue her from a feral dog and despite being in rival acting schools--one affiliated under Daito no less, he’s a pretty chill guy that enjoys spending time with her and doesn't care about all that stuff. It’s only after Maya starts to take off in her career that Sakurakoji starts to spiral into this insane inferiority complex centered around her, where he thinks she has become too good an actress for him to be around anymore and starts to give her the cold shoulder all because of his own make-believe shortcomings. It’s very odd and sudden, and the entire thing is blown out of proportions as Maya clearly does not think that and Sakurakoji eventually has to be lectured by bad boy Masumi of all people to come around and start spending time with Maya again. Even after this however it isn't like the old days anymore and the gap that was created from his own complex still lingers.
Tumblr media
And oh boy, don’t get me started on Masumi, he’s quite the character. Masumi Hayami is the 24 year old son of the president of Daito Entertainment and is currently running the corporation in his father’s stead. Masumi serves as both an antagonist and love interest (because of course he can be both) in the early parts of the story and is often behind some (but not all) the sabotage done to Tsukikage’s acting school. Masumi will eventually take a more reasonable approach when it comes to trying to yank the rights of the Crimson Goddess away from Tsukikage’s hands as the anime progresses, often just by having his acting school beating Tsukikage’s students in contest and the like, and it’s here where we usually see Masumi’s employees that work under him being the more underhanded characters instead of Masumi directly engaging in the conflict.
Despite being on different sides, so to speak, Masumi catches one of Maya’s earliest performances, her role as Beth in Little Women, and falls in love with the young girl, impressed by both her potential as an actress and her fortitude for going on with the show despite suffering from a dangerously high fever and immediately being rushed to the doctors after the curtains fall. From this point on her takes the role of “Mr Purple Rose” named for the bouquet of purple roses he sends to her at every show. As her secret admirer and the first fan Maya has ever had he means a lot to her yet as his true identity of Masumi he’s an enemy that Maya cannot stand to breathe the same air as. So in short, Masumi is just your average 24 year old CEO of a mega corporation crushing on a 13 year old girl from a small acting school he is trying to ruin and also her secret admirer. Somehow Masumi is one of the best characters in the series, and is my best boy. Only in shoujo!

So far I've been having some cheap laughs at the expense of the 1984 Glass Mask anime but it’s not all like this. The over-the-top bombardment of old school shoujo cliches and the laughs I got from them may be one of the most memorable component of my viewing but there’s actually a lot more to this anime than that. When you get beyond the silly age gap romances and the flowery melodrama of young teenage love, Glass Mask is a story of artists trying to pursue their passions and dedicating their everything to them. Maya may be cursed to forever be “only average looking” but I really respect her drive to dedicate her entire life to theatre.
Well, that is to say, the times when she isn't acting like punching bag to the rest of the cast (Glass Mask has a tendency to make Maya into a Cinderella surrounded by tons of wicked stepsisters). When Maya is written not as a Cinderella she’s fiercely determined, and never backs down despite some straight-up abusive behavior she is put through. At times her mentor Tsukikage is absolutely savage, regularly beating Maya and putting her through some training that is definitely highly illegal, at least for today’s standards. For instance she once threw Maya in a shed and locked the door refusing to let her out until she finally understood her character she was assigned. Did I mention it was in the middle of the freezing cold winter and snowing out and Maya only had the clothes on her back for warmth? She was out there for days with no food, water, or even warmth. But don’t worry, she had her script to read and that made it all okay. Like goddamn, somebody call child protective services on this lady.
Tumblr media
Speaking about “the art” and everyone’s passions, the more you watch the series the more it becomes obvious that the creator, Suzue Miuchi, really cares for theatre and isn't just using it as a vehicle to propel her own story. There are countless renditions of classic plays shown in Glass Mask, such as the mentioned already Little Women, The Miracle Worker, and Wuthering Heights, just to name a few. Some of these plays are presented without any changes while others may have reinterpretations made to them by the characters who are trying to give their roles a life of their own away from the original source material. Miuchi very much understands theatre and does a great job converting many famous plays into a more compressed and easily digestible form of entertainment that can be viewed on a week by week bases. The analysis characters give about the plays and other characters’ performances, the ways characters interpret their parts, and how the plays that we are privy to see in the series end up all show a deeper understanding of the medium. Watching Glass Mask is almost like taking a beginning course in theatre that covers all the classics, only with way more melodrama and over-the-top romance than you will find in your local theatre group. I hope.
What’s the most impressive however goes beyond just Miuchi’s renditions of other classic works and instead are her own plays that she creates herself. As not only does Glass Mask use pre-existing plays it also has its own original productions that will spring up in-between the real world plays. A lot of these self created plays are very enjoyable too, and some feel way more fleshed out than they have any right to be and you often find yourself regretting that you are only privy to a small part of the performance and not able to just sit there and watch the entire play like the characters in the anime do. Maybe that’s why it shouldn't be too much of a surprise that some of the plays Miuchi has created for her manga have later been adapted into real life plays in Japanese theatres. This is probably the greatest testament to the series’ popularity right there, where its own fictional works are turned real. I can’t think of many examples of something like that happening before.
Tumblr media
I’d be remiss not to mention the visual aspect of this series before wrapping up my thoughts on it too. While certainly no powerhouse in animation, Glass Mask 1984 goes for a more picturesque route, and does a great job with tons of beautiful still shots and intricately detailed background images. It’s a humble production but with the right use of lighting a lot of scenes can really shine (pardon the terrible pun it was an accident), especially the night shots which can be pure art. Hang it in a museum, I say. I’m almost surprised we don’t see more “aesthetic” anime blogs mining images from this series. Veteran director Gisaburo Sugii (Dororo, Touch, Osamu Tezuka’s Phoenix) leads the production with skilled marksmanship you would expect from his previous (and future) pedigree, and along with legendary animator the late Shingo Araki (Ashita no Joe, Galaxy Express 999, Saint Seiya) the series has a wonderful 80’s flair to it that just fills any retro anime fan full of nostalgia whether or not they have seen the show before.
Tumblr media
Studio Eiken’s 1984 Glass Mask adaptation is a short, briskly paced 22 episode series that is easy on the eyes and not hard at all to still sit through for modern audiences. It’s full of tons of laughs (both ironic and sincere) as well as tons of melodrama and over-the-top romance. Most importantly though, it’s a full of passion; lots and lots of passion. During its short episode count the series watches Maya progress as an actress and grow older, with her finishing middle school and beginning high school while also balancing full time acting jobs on the side. The ending is left open--and let’s face it the manga hasn't even ended some 35 years later still--but there’s enough forward momentum in the series to really feel like your time with the characters wasn't wasted and that they were able to accomplish something--not to mention the ending spot is a pretty decent one leaving the viewer wanting more but enjoying a satisfying conclusion to one of the more interesting story arcs adapted. Overall I think anyone who enjoys cheesy anime romance can sit down with this series and have a fun Valentine’s.

She's a snake.
(Inspired by @excellent-monster-girl-ideas post right here this will be continued)
Samuel wasn't one to over-complicate things, ever. In fact, this led him to be so extremely uncomplicated that he does everything in the simplest ways he can find. However don't it wrong would complicate things, so he always makes sure to do things right. He sticks with this philosophy with people, being as honest with his feelings as possible.
HE is a fellow born and raised in the many areas of the USA, coming to rest near Miami, Florida. He's one to be found lounging in his free time or doing exercises and yoga in fact. He's relatively tall, 6'3 in height and of athletic build, due to his exercise. He has short, dirty blonde hair and almost copper skin due to how often he is outside. Samuel always looks tired, or as if he just fell out of bed and threw on a t-shirt and pair of jeans on. Unless he's in business attire, when which despite his overall comfort he looks inexorably tired.
He graduated high school and went on through college to become an accountant, and a good one at that. His company regards him very well for guys work ethic however this isn't about his company. Despite all the comforts he has in life Samuel has become bored. A boredom that, nothing seems to be able to fix. Or rather, he felt as if something was missing.
As a side note, this is no ordinary world. Instead actually, here animal people and people with characteristics of what we would consider mythical creatures exist in commonplace. They live as any people do, and most coexist peacefully. Now some nations have ill feelings towards one other but most are within the friendly range.
Within that world of course lives Samuel, and within Samuel lives his strange sense of boredom and loneliness. He's tried to find ways around this, even buying a snake. It was a young Boa, and helped at least a little as his antics where cute. Samuel at first couldn't find a name for him, then decided upon Wiggler, as he seemed to like to do a little wiggly dance when Samuel made him happy. This, even if for a moment always brightens up his day, as Samuel enjoys seeing others enjoying themselves.
Now, this is hardly about Samuel's boredom, or really even his snake, rather about the time Samuel's life changed in a way that would forever affect him. This change came on a day that started off like no other, yet quickly became something that he would never forget. A day he found a cure for his seemingly incurable world of boredom.
It was a brisk winter morning, strangely chilly for Florida but nowhere near what Samuel would consider cold. As such, he was wearing a black tank-top and jean shorts, along with a gold chain necklace that was passed down from his old man. At the moment he was strolling through Miami, looking for something to do with no good ideas. The smell and taste of salt intermingled with the smells of the city in interesting ways. People walked by, some conversing about the simple things and others going about their day in solitude.
Samuel looked around to see a familiar comic shop, street performers and the not-so-occasional fellow heading to the beach. He sighed, closing his eyes and rolling his neck until he got a good pop. He thought that if things continued like this he might just stay bored. With that thought he opened his eyes only just in time to see someone suddenly appear in front of him from an alley. As he walks with a rather fast pace despite his demeanor there was no stopping the eminent collision, and they both fell to the ground.
Within a moment, multiple sensations suddenly hit Samuel, first, the feeling of him hitting the stranger then his butt landing firmly on the ground. Then, as he exclaimed out, "Ow man!" He heard three more noises, some items crashing to the ground, a feminine voice with a strange accent also exclaiming in pain and.... hissing? He decided to ignore the hissing and go to hello pick up the fallen items instead, as both him and the stranger remarked, "Sorry, sorry." And "I apologize I'm clumsy." Before they both reach to grab the dropped items and like a page ripped out of Shoujo manga he won't admit he reads Samuel's hand and the strangers touch. However her hand had light green scales, yet they where soft. As he raised his eyes to meet hers he realized she was already looking into his eyes.
She was beautiful, her face screamed kind all over it, and her eyes simply being an almost amber gem with a pupil exactly comparable to a snake's. Given a little white is visible but barely any compared to Samuel's own. They starkly contrasted her light green scales. Her hair too, was unique to Samuel. Now having snakes for hair was definitely normal for her; because, well she's a Gorgon of course. Now her hair interestingly was all brown Boa's instead of light green like the rest of her scales. All but one "strand" it seems as one singular reddish snake hair is just to the left of her nose. However, her human-like areas also had a different scale type than her more snake areas. Her snake areas where darker green than the rest, interestingly.
Her dress choice drew his eye as well, she was wearing an office suit. It only drew his eye because she looked nice in it, and no other actual reason. She had jewelry on as well, bright colors contrasting her simple office attire, much like herself.
They both paused for a moment, locking eyes. Words seemed impossible for either to form, as he could see like him she was struggling. Finally noticing that they where almost holding hands now they both pulled away quickly. Samuel turned away, first time he couldn't meet someone's eyes in a while actually, yet he wasn't as embarrassed as the way she spoke at the same time as him told him she too was embarrassed. "Woahohohey sorry there-" said he and her, "Oh my I'm sorry-" Before they both stopped, seemingly to let the other finish. She instead seems to have looked down, as his glance has told him.
They both unanimously decide to pick up the items as they both remember that she had dropped them. He hands her the part he picked up and she reasons, "Thanks for your help, but you didn't need to." He then waves that comment off, and says, "You wouldn't have if I didn't bump into you." She nods and nervously chuckles in agreement. As she does this Samuel chuckles too, a strand of her hair seemingly taking offense to this, as it bit him on the nose. Granted Samuel didn’t know it was in contempt, but as it bit him he could only assume.
On a side note, this hurt like hell. Samuel sat as still as he could painfully saying, “Oh hey hey hey your hair!” She noticed quickly and pried her own hair of his nose, which it had a painful, yet not injuring grip on. She, as he could see through his fingers and hear, was panicking quite adorably. She was inspecting his nose and seemingly reprimanding the strain? However hilarious all this is he feels like this is a chance he won’t miss.
“Well damn, did I do something wrong?” He jokingly asks, laughing while she takes it more seriously, just as he hoped she would. “No, no, my hair bit you.” Looking back to him and then being stopped by him with a hand gesture, him holding his hand up in a yield request. Samuel then declares and asks, “Look I already forgive you, but if you need to apologize how about... Your name and number?” Complied by a sly proposal of his phone, already on the “Add a contact.” page. She stops a moment.
And Samuel panics just a little, watching her hesitate.
But then she reaches for the phone, and takes it. Samuel can’t be more overjoyed, and if one looked into his eyes that may be obvious, so he looks away. He then feels a soft tap on his shoulder, followed by her soft voice, “Text me sometime.” It wasn’t too noticeable, but she extended the x and s sounds, almost like a soft hiss.
She ran odd extremely quickly... well ran might be a strong word, scurry slither is a better description. Shocked for a moment, Samuel jumps up in excitement and he shouts out to... He checks his phone quickly, seeing “Rianna” on his screen? “What and adorable name.”, he thinks for a moment before shouting, “Hey thanks Riananana!”
“That was so fucking stupid.” He thought immediately, she seemed to think it too because she nearly ran into a wall.
It seemed everything, everyone, went perfectly silent, terrifying. However she was then thrown into a fit of giggling, Samuel couldn’t decide whether or not he liked this fact but she turned back to him a moment, her smile seemingly worth it as she then waved before leaving.
He later changing her name in his phone to, “Riananana.” as a joke to himself, before continuing on with his day as well. He planned on messaging her, but his nose did hurt quite a lot and he wanted to call his friend and tell him before going on with it.

Channy Watches Anime Sometimes And You Should Too: Spring Edition
A new season means a whole new onslaught of anime. Some good, and some not so good. Considering my terrible, and specific as fuck tastes, I decided to make another post that no one asked for, talking a little bit about the anime I’ve chosen to keep up with this season.
Kakuriyo no Yadomeshi
Tumblr media
“Female college student Aoi inherited her deceased grandfather's ability to see ayakashi. One day, while Aoi is feeding some ayakashi, a demon appears! He declares that Aoi's grandfather owed a great debt, and as compensation, Aoi must marry the demon! Aoi refuses, and decides to pay off the debt by working.”
This is pretty much another rendition of Beauty and The Beast, which is usually right up my alley. So far this one has just been okay, and the animation hasn’t really been great from episode one, but I am going to stick with it in hopes of some sort of romantic pay off.
3D Kanojo: Real Girl
Tumblr media
“Tsutsui Hikari is an otaku, and he mostly avoids social life. Hikari has only one friend at school, who is also a social misfit, and he is mocked brutally by most of his classmates for being creepy and weird. One day, he ends up having to clean the school pool with Igarashi Iroha, who appears to be pretty much everything he hates in real-life girls. She skips school, has a blunt manner, doesn't have female friends, and seems the sort to be promiscuous. However, she is friendly to Hikari, and even stands up to the people who make fun of him. Hikari's bitterness and trust issues lead him to say pretty harsh things to Iroha, but she never dismisses him as creepy. After a while, it starts to look like Iroha may become his first real-life, 3D girlfriend! Will he be able to handle it?”
Another show that’s just been okay so far. The animation on this one isn’t the best, and honestly I feel like once I’ve finished watching it I’ll probably forget all about it. The characters aren’t all that likable, and one specific character has a voice actor that seriously grates on my nerves. Why are you watching it then, Channy? You might ask. Well, during the winter season I felt like we were lacking in the romantic comedy genre a little bit when it came to anime. Sure, there were a couple to pick from, but this season I feel like there were so many more options, and I at least wanted to give them a chance.
Piano no Mori
Tumblr media
“A tranquil tale about two boys from very different upbringings. On one hand you have Kai, born as the son of a prostitute, who's been playing the abandoned piano in the forest near his home ever since he was young. And on the other you have Syuhei, practically breast-fed by the piano as the son of a family of prestigious pianists. Yet it is their common bond with the piano that eventually intertwines their paths in life.”
Not too many complaints about this one. So far it’s been a fairly relaxing anime, and I know that’s partly thanks to the classical piano pieces that get played throughout. The animation is alright, though it does take you out of the story a little bit when they suddenly switch to 3D animation for some of the piano playing scenes. (Not sure what the reason for this is, unless it saves the studio money in some way.) Regardless, the story is pretty touching so far, and it’s probably gonna hurt as well.
Wotaku ni Koi wa Muzukashii
Tumblr media
“After discovering that they work at the same company, a gaming crazed otaku and a fujoshi reunite for the first time since middle school. After some post-work drinking sessions they begin dating, but will it be a perfect relationship for the two?”
This one is a cute slice of life rom com, with definitely more com than the rom, but that’s okay! The animation is nice and fluid for the most part, and just look at this height difference!
Tumblr media
Devils Line
“Anzai, half vampire, and Tsukasa, a normal college girl. Vampires seem to be living among humans. Of course the government does not know of their existence, because their appearance does not differ from humans. They also do not need to drink blood, but when they get a craving or get angry, they can become uncontrollable monsters.”
I was skeptical about this show after the first episode; the animation really wasn’t great from the get go and the story seemed all over the place. I thought that I might drop it after seeing where the second episode went, but oh boy am I glad that I didn’t. This is exactly what you think it is with that sexy as fuck emo half vampire who no doubt is harbouring a tragic past. He tries so hard to be good, and tries so hard not to want and love the human girl, but by god he just can’t stop. I don’t think the writing in this is going to be the greatest, but I’m loving it for the cheesy as fuck vampire love story it is delivering. Also, the animation appears to be getting slightly better with each episode.
Rokuhoudou Yotsuiro Biyori
Tumblr media
“Four men—Gure, Sui, Tokitaka, and Tsubaki—each help run a Japanese tea shop together called Rokuhoudou. When one visits the shop, they are greeted warmly, is served with tea, and are often helped with any problems they may have.”
A slice of life with a bit of plot about sexy men in yukatas working at a cafe/tea/coffee shop. That’s all you need to know. Though in all honesty, this anime has a really relaxing feel to it, and I’ve been enjoying it a lot.
Tada-kun wa Koi wo Shinai
Tumblr media
“In the story, Mitsuyoshi Tada, a boy who has never known love, is taking pictures of the cherry blossoms in full bloom when he meets Teresa Wagner, a transfer student from Luxembourg. Upon arriving in Japan, she got lost, separated from her travel companion. Mitsuyoshi helps her and brings her to his grandfather's coffee shop.”
Another rom com, and I’m pretty sure this is by the same people who did Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun, which I also recommend if you’re looking for a ton of comedy with just a hint of romance. Anyway this one is cute so far, and has gotten a few laughs out of me as well. Also the animation is so vibrant, and pretty!
Hinamatsuri
Tumblr media
“One night, a strange object falls on the head of Nitta, a member of the yakuza. Inside the box is a strange young girl named Hina. She has tremendous supernatural powers, and Nitta finds himself reluctantly taking her in. Her powers can come in handy for his yakuza business, but he also runs the risk of her using them on him! Not to mention, if she doesn't use her powers, she will eventually go berserk and destroy everything around her. Nitta and Hina's strange life together is just beginning...”
Last but certainly not least, we have this gem of an anime. This wacky, slice of life comedy has had me laughing several times with every episode. The characters are all likable, the writing is hilarious, and the animation is wonderful. Not only will this probably be one of my favorites of the season, but one of my favorite animes in general.
