I wasn't sure if I'd manage to do wintery pics still in time cause the last weeks I was ill and also busy as hell, so yeah XD But then, as I was playing around with the Christmas tree, knowing that it's scalable, I had the spontaneous urge to see just how big you could make it... and we'd been talking about how utterly decked out NC has got to be in colorful lights and shit around Christmas (because, yay, consumerism!). And since there are virtual cherry blossoms everywhere, there's gotta be virtual snowfall too!

Now, headcanon time!

I think, as someone who grew up in the 90s and poor-ish, like me, Christmas must've been a special and magical time for Kerry, even if it's probably lost its charm as he grew older. I still think though, since I interpret him as someone very nostalgic who tends to linger in the past, he'd definitely be into decorating the house and having at least a small fake tree or something set up. He probably did that with Louise and his kids as well (cause yay, giving presents to make up for the guilty feelings of being a probably otherwise not very present parent - ba-dum-tss), and in the following years it brought back too many bad feelings and memories for him to really look forward to it. But with Vince he'd wanna make new memories, he'd probably be in the holiday spirit again for the first time in a long time... but little does he know that Vince is a little Grinch ("What the fuck is a Grinch?" - ".... movie night, right now!")

Vince's family *never* celebrated Christmas in a big way. His mother thought the decorations tacky and didn't want them in her house. Culture-wise, with his dad's Japanese background, Christmas is more a romantic couple's holiday than the traditional family or even religious thing we have in the west. So he doesn't have strong feelings about Christmas apart from "hm, yeah, the lights are pretty I guess". But I'd also like to think that Kerry does manage to get him in the holiday spirit at least a little bit too xD Cause in the end, it's about spending time with your loved ones and giving a shit about the rest imo XD

Well, in a more human-influenced horsemen world, I'm sure the Holidays would be very interesting. 😂

If we're talking Christmas, I think the horseman would enjoy it. Though it may take quite a bit of explaining of the whole ordeal. They'd never admit it, but I'm certain the four would be excited at the thought-particularly Strife, of course.

Death, in particular, would be grateful for any thoughts shined his way. A gift? For the man who's literally been through hell time and time again, upon having the crushing weight of looking after his brethren forced upon him? He may even let the slightest bit of emotion grade his features behind that mask of his. Though again, he hides this very well-he'd never let his siblings see such vulnerability.

Fury wouldn't know what the hell to do, though for her human friend she'd certainly...attempt to join in on the fun. Creation help you if she decides to gift you something😂

War is surprisingly thoughtful, I would think.

Strife most definitely gets everyone a gag gift. And if nephilim could get intoxicated (I don't think they can?) but if so, we all know Strife would be having a great time.

Now, focusing on New Years! The horsemen's human company surely would have told many stories and traditions. To the horsemen of course, time is completely different. To spend such an evening in preparation for yet another year seems rather trivial, especially when nephilim live so long.

It's Strife who has to remind his brethren of just how short of lives humans live.

Speaking of Strife, he's the only one who truly adopts the idea of New Year's eve and attempts to join his human companion in all the festivities suggested.

I think Death wouldn't really partake in many activities, however he'd find himself enjoying your company. He's probably lounging about somewhere where he can watch you and the others from the top of a book or a cup of tea.

Fury gets a kick out of beating strife at any of the festivities. Could potentially turn into a heated fight. Watch out, hah.

War is just content to be around good company, much like his eldest brother. He may try to enjoy some of your ideas, though I imagine he'd have some difficulty understanding the meaning of it all. He'd continuously search for an answer from you.

And I don't know about any of you; but when the countdown came about, I'd crush every single one of those horsemen in a giant hug. Strife may try to sling you about in your tiny form. Prepare for that😝

2. What does Christmas look like for Zoo now? Does he spend it with his Saints?

So Zoo isn't gonna go out of his way to do any celebrating unless asked or pulled into it first. Pierce typically throws a massive party at the penthouse, and of course Zoo won't turn that down. If anyone asks him to join them in any festivities, he'll most likely agree (sometimes reluctantly), but he wants to be supportive of his crew and their holiday spirit. If not asked to do anything, though, he's just gonna spend time on his own (much like Casey), with alcohol and Christmas movies on TV.

4. How would he react to his partner / love interest approaching him with mistletoe?

Okay so since I ship him with two characters, I'm gonna do two different answers because his reaction would be different for both. If it's Matt coming at him with mistletoe, Zoo is gonna act like he doesn't notice the hacker creeping closer and closer, but as soon as Matt's close enough, Zoo is grabbing him and pulling him into a deep kiss. He'll then act like nothing happened other than the smug grin on his face as Matt is just intensely flustered and trying to recover and process what just happened. If it's Johnny with the mistletoe, Zoo is gonna think he's just fucking around. "You tosser, the hell do you think you're doing?" (Zoo says it with love of course). Then when Johnny steals a kiss, even if it's just for a joke, it's gonna make Zoo flustered. He's gonna try his best to just shrug it off, muttering under his breath about how Johnny is an idiot as he looks away to hide his blush.

10. Does Zoo like the cold weather and the snow?

Zoo prefers winter. It's his favorite season. He loves the cold (even though he struggles with staying warm in general), he loves the snow (he never saw it much back in England), and driving like a maniac over icy roads is FUN. Heat makes him feel gross (and with summer, there's usually fires, which means he's stuck inside due to all the smoke in the air). He adores winter.

18. What's Zoo's favorite Christmas movie?

Die Hard. He HAS to watch it every year and will make people watch it with him. Every year up until Johnny "died", him and Zoo made it tradition to watch it together on Christmas Eve and quote the movie over beers. Zoo is also one of those people who feels very strongly about Die Hard being a Christmas movie and will actually argue people over it. He's right, you're wrong. It's a Christmas movie.

21. Anything else about Zoo and this time of year?

Zoo genuinely doesn't expect any sort of gifts from anyone for the holidays, so if he does get a gift, it catches him off guard and he really doesn't know how to react to it even if it's just something small.

Just some fun questions as we enter the Christmas season! In your opinion - for Rapunzel, Eugene, Cassandra, Lance and Varian - what would be their respective favorite... - Christmas carol? - Christmas sweet treat? - Christmas tradition/activity?

I'm going to preface this by saying that I don't think Corona celebrates Christmas. I headcanon that it celebrates the Winter Solstice, since it's a sun-worshiping kingdom. I've come up with a few Coronan and Coronan royalty traditions.

Rapunzel:

I have often tried to think of what her favorite Christmas carol might be, but I don't think one that encapsulates the vibe exists. Don't get me wrong, she adores carols, but she can't pick a favorite.

Personally, I associate her with a song that was written for a short-lived Christmas show at California Adventure. The show was called LuminAria, and the song includes the chorus:

Let it shine bright, sparkle like the sun Share your own light, together we are one Share your dream, share your light And feel the whole world shine

which I feel really encompasses a lot of Rapunzel's philosophy. (Incidentally, they reused the tune when they light up the castle at Disneyland currently, though they changed the lyrics).

She adores all kinds of artistic cut-out cookies: sugar cookies, gingerbread, shortbread, etc.

Her favorite activity is decorating the area/trimming the tree, especially when it's done with loved ones.

Eugene:

I have to say that "I'll Be Home For Christmas" is Eugene's favorite carol, and here's why:

Also, I feel like he'd spend his life with this bitter sweet feeling about it, knowing he had no home to go to. But now he does, and a part of him is scared of not being there during the holidays one year.

His favorite sweet treat is hot cocoa with peppermint. Just the thing to stave off the cold.

Lance:

He's a "Winter Wonderland" fellow, especially the verse about knocking down snowmen. He sings this part with Catalina and Kiera as loudly as they all can.

@countlessrealities sent; Holidays had never been Rick's thing. He hadn't celebrated a single one of them for years after he had left his childhood home and then he had joined again while living with Diane because she had wanted him to.

In his Morty's house, holidays hadn't been a thing either. Beth and Jerry couldn't be bothered to organise something outside their usual fights and they were rarely home anyway. It was a miracle that the kids knew what the word meant.

Rick had thought that he would never be faced with the prospect of such celebrations ever again. However, he had been proven wrong once he had teamed up with his current partner. His alternate, for some odd reason, seemed to find the holidays delightful. At least some of them.

And, since he had no way of knowing whether Thanksgiving was one of them, he had decided that he would entertain his owner anyway.

Thus why he walked into the living room carrying a big, dead alien bird that looked like an off-colour bird. Without a word, he dropped it on the floor at his partner's feet and then fixed his eyes on the other's face, unblinkingly.

A beat of silence passed, before he spoke up.

"...Meow."

That's why on his own, he didn't need anyone else. Now, though, he has his partner. And that's all he needed. To just be with him and fuck everything else in the universe.

Sat there in front of the television, watching a rom-com, studying up on a grand romantic gesture that he could do to make this day memorable, he was greeted with the dead bird dropping down at his feet.

Surprised blue eyes darted from the creature up to that face. That meow sent his heart to swell and a smile widening on his own face. Oh, wasn't that so cute. So precious.

"Oh, darling, happy Thanksgiving to you, too," He stood up enough to grab his partner by the hips, settling him down onto his lap. "Such a cute little kitten you are, you want to help me prepare the bird so we can eat it, don't you?"

But before they could do that, he would wrap his arms around that body, pressing them closer than before. As he planted small kisses all over the side of his alternate's face, peppering him in as much love as he could give.

Ultimate - describe your best holiday experience.

(Why is this one called ultimate XD) My favorite Christmas was the one where my siblings and I received bookmarks as gifts. My family was really poor that year and couldn't afford anything, so Mom had us pick out one ball each from her stash of very special Egyptian cotton thread. Then she crocheted us each bookmarks made of that thread, with a heart in the middle of them. (And the colors were beautiful btw, I got a very spring themed green/pink/etc one) She felt horrible that it was the best she could do but I still cherish my bookmark. Aside from that, that was also the year I started watching Gravity Falls with the fam. (I watched it in private with my sister beforehand so we were already way into it, lol.) A relative gifted us a dvd with some of the episodes on it, so Mom said to go ahead and put it on. The first episode was Double Dipper, which everyone loved. So we honestly had a blast :3 That was one of my favorite Christmases.

Yule - what's one wish you have for this holiday season?

I wish I could spend it with my boyfriend 👉👈 Don't know if we'll be able to but, that is my wish lol

Hi friend!

I’ve been pondering this a lot this year  since my boyfriend said he wanted to celebrate more of the Pagan holiday’s with me. A lot of times I just let them slip by because I don’t follow the Wiccan wheel of the year, and so I don’t much know what to do for each holiday. A lot of what I’’ve read for the Norse versions of the holiday’s involve bonfires and feasts, which are nice, but a bonfire in Ohio winter isn’t the most realistic thing. 

I do technically celebrate “Christmas” or whatever secular, cultural thing “Christmas” is in America now. I was raised in a Christian household so 🤷

By that I mean there’s always a tree and decorations and we get each other presents and have a nice meal. My mom gave up on forcing my sibling and I to go to church well before either of us knew we were pagan. In non-covid times and before I moved away, we all went to visit family and do gifts and a nice meal there as well. 

This year its about the same on the “Christmas” end, although not with my family because I’m now 3 states away and its COVID. My boyfriend and I got a fake tree to decorate (we call it the Yule tree cos of the idea that Christmas trees may have been stolen from a pagan tradition) and there’s gifts under the tree. He wants to try and make a beef wellington for Christmas dinner...though neither of us have taken on anything like that for cooking. We’ll go over to his parents for a meal and gift exchange as well. His mother was raised Catholic and while she’s not hardcore, she still upholds a lot of the Christian stuff. 

For Yule celebrations this year, I plan on making wassail (a sort of tradition? My sibling and I have made it a few times, it stems from something I’ll talk about more later in this post) and we got a candle that’s supposed to smell like a Yule log. I told my boyfriend we can’t light it until Yule XD. I don’t know if we’ll do much more than that because I work on Yule this year (well, I work the 21st which I believe is Yule this year)

There are some non religious things my family and I did every winter while my sibling and I were in school. I haven’t figured out foolproof ways to incorporate them now that we’ve both graduated, but I try to do something to call back to those traditions each year. 

While we were in school my sibling and I danced in the local dance theater’s production of the Nutcracker for YEARS. We even got my mom in on it one year as a party guest in the first act. None of us dance anymore since my sibling and I went off to college and especially in the year of COVID we’re not going to go to any shows. I’ll probably just play the music a bunch or try to find a movie of it that isn’t terrible. 

The other one was attending my high schools madrigal play. We went almost every year for 8 years (my sibling and i are 4 years apart, so my 4 years of high school and their 4 years of high school) because my sibling and I both had friends who were in it each year. For anyone who doesn’t know what madrigal is, it’s a dinner and a show type of thing with singing in between courses, sometimes dancing, and sometimes a play within the show. The premise is you’re attending a feast at the house of a medieval King and Queen with all his lords and ladies. So the singers are dressed up in garb and sing traditional carols in between courses of a (semi) traditional meal. That’s where my sibling and I got the wassail from. We loved wassail the best at madrigal and so we learned how to make it ourselves. 

I saw one idea on Facebook this year that I’d love to start, where you gift everyone in the house a book on Christmas eve and then spend the evening reading the book you were gifted. I think that’d be fun to turn into a tradition. 

If/ when there’s kids in the picture, a friend of mine from high school had a tradition where the “elves” would drop off small gifts each day leading up to Christmas. Things like pajama’s, trinkets, etc. and the kids would have to do a mini scavenger hunt to find them, then on Christmas day they’d get the big presents. I think something like that could be fun as well. 

Also, I want to teach my hypothetical kids the importance of giving back. There’s one youtuber I watch who is a phenomenal parent, and has taught his kids the importance of giving back via donations. Every year his child /wants/ to go through his toys and donate ones he doesn’t play with anymore to help kids in need and to make room for new toys he’ll get for Christmas. Like the kid seems genuinely happy  to get rid of his old toys rather than selfishly hold onto them. I’d be so happy if I could instill the same sense of giving in my own children. 

Honestly for me, whether its Yule or “Christmas” in so much as the cultural aspect of it that’s bled into every American home whether they want it or not, I just want to focus on simple, cozy, quiet things with my family over big fancy to-do’s. Like reading a book on Christmas even in a comfy pair of new pj’s with a mug of wassail with some candles burning. That sounds so much better than a big, stressful party with my whole family.

Y'all wouldn't find this whole Valentine's day as romantic as you think it is once you know how early Romans 'celebrated' it. XD Either way, I do not celebrate it (I don't understand why you'd spend one day doing what you should with your valentine when it isn't a holiday. Dunno, just feels almost obligatory if you're not blissfully single like me hehe and it also just feels super awkward to me when I'm not single) but if you do, happy Valentine's, friend. Remember it isn't just romance for a significant other. It can also be for your friends, your family, your pet. Don't let the day bring you down just because you're single without a romantic partner. ❤

Nikal ended her work day in good spirits -- once she finished up her meal, she headed back to the lab for a bit more experimenting, and ended up planting a few new things in the greenhouse! And fixing the toilet her coworkers busted with magic. Now that’s how you get levels in your spellcaster rank!

And then she got home and Emmett had accidentally upstaged her by getting an off-screen promotion. XD Whoops. Ah well, becoming Laboratory Leader is nothing to sneeze at -- and they could use the extra money with a kid on the way. New shower too! Didn’t really fit in their “public” bathroom, so I just stuck it downstairs in the lab for now. Really gonna have to spend some time upgrading their home now that there’s gonna be three people here. . .

Anyway, nothing much special to report after that -- they watched some politics on the TV, Nikal finished her shelf (which was NOT of excellent quality, annoyingly), and Emmett tuned up the mattress firmness on their bed, making it even better. All while it kept snowing away outside, harder and harder.

But that’s okay, because tomorrow’s a holiday and nobody has to go out! Next time -- the gang celebrates Winterfest!

2. do you prefer spending your holidays in your country or travel abroad?

Usually I prefer to stay at home for holidays (especially for Christmas) but I like to travel and visit other places in my country or outside. For example the last summer I’ve been to Austria and I fell in love with that country!

3. does your country have access to sea?

Oh yess! The Mediterranean Sea is awesome! I’ve never seen the Adriatic Sea tho but people say it’s awesome as well even tho there are a lot of seagrasses.

6. most hated song in your native language?

A popular song from some villains who stole and raped in the name of the Resistence, I can’t say more because, in Italy, if you aren’t one of them, you’re automatically flagged as “fascist” (it’s dumb I know but that’s the way it is).

8. do you get confused with other nationalities? if so, which ones and by whom?

Northen European people (that I love so much), for example, I can’t recognize people from Finlands, from Norwegian people. And Asiatic :(  I can recognize pretty well Japanese from Chinese but for example, I’m not good recognizing Korean people or other countries from Asia.

9. which of your neighbouring countries would you like to visit most/know best?

GERMANY!!!!!!! Germany! Germany!! oh and I’d like to know and visit more Austria.

In Italy we study a lot of history about our country and other places. My fave parts are about Ancient Greece and the Roman Empire, I also like the Medieval history of Italy that has been full of many talented artists in many fields.

I’m ok with our flag but I don’t like much our national anthem and just a few people know it all (we always sing the first 2 or 3 lines... very sad)

Probably 2 famous paintings because we had so many great painters and art is universal.

I’m proud of my country’s history, we’re here from “always” xD and art! Painters, poets, writers, sculptors and many others made my country great and famous all over the world. Italy is very small but anyone knows its name.

I’m truly ashamed of nowadays italians. When I’m in other countries I always try to make myself unrecognizable as “italian”. Many italian people are rude, unpolite, ignorant and boors. They think only about soccer and do nothing to better themselves and our country. So I’m proud to be italian but I’m also ashamed to be somehow.

23. which alcoholic beverage is the favoured one in your country?

Vine!!! I love Italian vines and I prefer red ones over the whites but I can drink both according to what I’m eating or the occasion.

We also have some good beers but german beers are better xD

France!!! They hate us and we hate them, that’s the way it is.

I’m really disappointed by the way Hollywood/American media portray Italy and Italian people. We’re famous for immigrants and mafia but those people are only a small part of Italy/Italian culture and they’re all from the South of Italy.  In other parts of Italy, the Middle and the North, people are far different. Plus people who traveled to U.S. decades ago, today are really different.

27. favourite national celebrity?

Errrrr... uhhhh.... do we have celebrity? (I mean one we shouldn’t ashamed of)  I dunno... Leonardo Da Vinci does count? I’m not really involved in nowadays popular culture, sorry.

Oh yes!! We’re small but we have everything! I love Alps above everything else.

We have xD 

I live in Genoa and in the past history, it was one of the Maritime Republics. At that time Genoa was called The Superb and we’re a bit stuck on it. As a maritime town people are a bit wary with strangers so when in summer tourists (mainly Milan and Turin) come to our beaches, we call them “foresti” (dialectical word for strangers) and start complaining about them taking our room on the shores. xD

30. do you have people of different nationalities in your family?

Nope! We’re all Italians :)

So he happened to be a bias out of nowhere? Like I didn't think too much about it, he just was someone I was drawn to after debut. I want to say it was run away era that I was casually just adding him as a 2nd bias lol. What was it I am not sure, maybe it was his stage presence and how he can naturally draw to you, keeping you focused with their performance. From there he just was always around to make me sometimes scream because hi I guess make me putty with your life I guess? I love his calm aura if you will, like he feels like the type of person you can have a very lazy weekend of just watching old movies and snacking on popcorn if that makes sense? He simply seems like someone to just do what he feels like and we see that alot i mean a great example is the recent selfie with the skirt, no care of what others will think. If he likes it, he does and wears what he feels comfortable with. Society isn't something he probably cares much and its nice to just see him explore himself in a fashion sense! like he reminds me in a way like key from shinee! (Both are chaotic so fitting lol) both are out there doing there thing, no care and being more talented then my eyebrows. We cannot deny his talent like he is an ace indeed. He shines the most with dancing for sure, he is a mixture of air and fire to me? Graceful but can be very much powerful and in your face. I really want to see him rap more like him in the enhyphen song has me happy dancing, omg like go off my talented bean! Some may say his fanservice might be too much but it makes me giggle more than anything. Maybe it is cheesy but hey, it isn't doing anything bad. He knows he is hot afterall lol. i think it's mainly his personality too, like the way he's constantly teasing and making things more fun and interesting with the things he says and does i absolutely adore somebody like that who can make the mood so much better without seemingly trying so it seems fitting that he became my bias even if it did take a minute but even despite the way he acts all goofy, i know he has a serious side too and i know i would love that side of him just as much if he showed it more, like.. he seems like the perfect person u could go to after something happened and just. talk to him :( i feel like he'd be quick to want to make somebody feel better and laugh yknow? and in addition to that, i think that if i ever had to sit in a room with him, that i wouldn’t have to say much and it would be a comfortable silence.. like i rlly think it would be comfy just to sit with him and not say anything necessarily :(

ANYWAY before i make myself sad onto something else hskfhsks his laugh is my second favorite in the group after taehyun's!! the way he does the uh... like the inhale and it makes that noise yknow? pls understand what im saying bc i dont know how to explain it but i used to laugh in a similar way and his laugh makes me smile every time without fail OH he also has like.. a tiny lisp when he speaks english and it makes me go <3 !! every time bc i have a lisp and seeing his, even if it is rlly tiny, makes me feel a little bit better ngl even tho mine isn't nearly as bad as it used to be oooh and the way he imitates the members kills me every time, i still hear him rapping every time i listen to blue hour LMAO but the way he'll copy the things they do or say is so funny to me but really his humor is funny to me always and it's never failed to make me smile
