However, I think the terror and angst comes from the fact that they lived with him his whole life, and for the most part, he was very passive and calm and never immediately resorted to violence, so to see [what used to be] their human revel in bloodshed is.. unsettling.

I know it doesn't always make sense for the author to stick close to the canon mama lan situation but I fundamentally disagree with making them a happy or in love couple by the time she died

#it's not tragic just bc she died...the entire situation was so deeply wrong #and it matters to the other characters' dynamics and choices and relationships! #it doesn't have to follow canon exactly but there are so many easy ways to write a vulnerable or marginalized #woman married to a man who uses his wealth and position to control her life #it just strips away the complexity and the unique horror of the story #to make the angelic mom die and the dad just be bad at being a father #and having nothing else going on #one fic I read she was an undocumented immigrant who knew very little english and he killed her and then himself #and lwj found them age 6 oof that one was intense #one where she was being kept prisoner on her home until she killed herself. and lwj found her. same author. they got it #ficblogging

this is angel in the reading where angel is Just gay and his pursuit of buffy is about striving for the heterosexual ideal to make up for being gay and also a vampire (rather than just the second bit). and before that a lot of his vampiric behaviour especially pre spike comes from the same place of striving for this approval from a beautiful older woman who might take him as a companion and make things okay + throwing himself into the art of the kill also comes from general resentment at the world. which in this case is specifically tied to being gay. and then it all comes crashing down on him with the soul until he gets taken to buffy. because i really do think angel does vampirism as gay allegory (bisexual version. like buffy as a slayer) and even as liam this is implicit but i generally take this as a layer rather than as like his core/intrinsic character if that makes sense at all. BUT making it core to him and making him specifically gay is also fun <3 i love to just say things

Ever since Tyrell put a makeshift fence up around the backyard, Arlo’s been swearing up and DOWN that he’s about to shit his pants and insisting we go out in the back in the dead of the night, every night, but as soon as we get there he finds his football and does this 😅 (We don’t normally go in the back at all at night bc it is very dark and I always hear whistling in the woods behind it. I’m sure it’s some sort of night bird but it still freaks me out lol. At night we always go in front or for a walk around the neighborhood. Which is much less scary with my man-eating scary dog privilege 😌. Not sure he’s a match for haunted woodland creatures. Anyway he’s very cute so I have been being brave for him. The fence helps even though it’s just chicken wire and hot pink rebar and TWINE lol.)

i think cas deserves to be an angel and have all his powers and gay ass telekinesis and his wings yet his and jacks conversation in ouroboros very much makes me lean towards them both having a human endgame... especially because i hate the idea of heaven esp in the show. heaven is literally a prison in spn. should be done away with completely as an afterlife. and cas... the destiel in me says cas would never leave deans side and would grow old with him and raise jack.. jack should be to be human because (and as much as i like the idea of kelly being a good mom) should never have had the idea that he would create this perfect utopia put on him. he is a child and should get to be one. it is not his responsisbility to fix the world and god’s mistakes. he should get to be a kid and play video games and be up at night from eating too much chocolate and go to school and do clubs and play sports and be a silly kid.
