I have a minor headcanon that Nick Lightbearer is actually extremely musically gifted when it comes to a variety of instruments. He just prefers the guitar/rock music.

He casually mentions one day that he can play violin just as well. Someone challenges him on it. He takes up the challenge, gets his hands on a violin, and immediately starts in with THIS.

When asked where the HELL he learned how to play THAT, he merely shrugs and says it's just something he picked up like it's no big deal.

My Victoria Byng Headcanons (requested by Anonymous)

I am so sorry I took so long but they’re finally here! I really hope everyone likes them. If you want me to write headcanons for another character, you can but please understand they probably won’t come right away. Ideas just don’t always come to mind that easily. I’m already writing headcanons for Sally so stay tuned for that. I’m actually thinking of writing headcanons for Johnny Bolton so let me know if you want that. Anyways, enjoy and have a lovely day!

🥻Before she became a Downer, Victoria had the delusion that her mother was never imprisoned and was currently having a lovely time in India. She does speak of India from time to time and expresses the desire to visit, but thinking of it brings up painful memories. Partially at the behest of her father, she takes an huge amount of Joy to keep them away.

☎️She has lots of friends but is not particularly close to any of them. This is due to both her tendency to be a workaholic and the general shallowness of relationships between Wellies. This is the reason why she did not realize the full extent of Prudence's feelings toward her. Victoria liked Prudence a lot, believing her to be very talented but sadly, their bond was severed when Victoria told Prudence she suspected her of being a Downer. Shortly thereafter, Prudence vanished. After the events of We All Fall Down, I think Victoria would be very sad to hear of Prudence's demise. She's another name in the list of people whose lives were destroyed by Joy and Vicky holds a lot of guilt. Her role in Prudence's death makes it even sadder. I think they would have been good friends or even lovers.

📦Her home used to have artwork, books and memorabilia from India. She loved them but when she looked at them, they made her sad to the point where she started crying. She told her father about this and he gave her tea laced with Joy. He then hired someone to come into her home and take all of the things related to India.

📚Victoria sometimes hosts book club and women's club meetings at her home. Uncle Jack's three books about the war were the subject of some of the meetings. Looking back at this, Downer!Victoria, being a lover of history, would disparage the books as being terribly written and dull.

🤬Unlike the other potty-mouthed protagonists of We Happy Few, Victoria very rarely swears. Both of her parents, especially her aristocratic mother, made it a priority to install grace and elegance in their daughter. It takes an extreme amount of stress (and anger) to make Victoria swear as seen in the cutscene when Ollie forces her off Joy. Also, if Downer!Victoria ever swore, she would hear her mother curtly admonishing her so she refrains from it.

🪅Victoria's favorite Uncle Jack segments are Funny Old Customs and Famous Britons since she likes history albiet the sanitized version of history shown to Wellies. So unsurpisingly it was her idea to bring the piñata on the day Arthur went Downer. But of course since everyone is on Joy and have no idea they're just watching reruns, many many other piñatas have probably been smashed before the one we saw.

🧳In her post-Wellington Wells, I like to think that Vicky got involved in politics in some way or another. She of course has many regrets but her leadership skills would not fade. Also, she was probably a key witness of what happened in Wellington Wells and has written books and given interviews about it. Most survivors prefer to live as if it never happened.

My Nick Lightbearer Headcanons

I wanted to give love to one of my favorite videogame characters, the one and only, Nick Lightbearer! I hope somebody out there likes these headcanons. One includes a little shoutout to @sea-side-scribbles, another Nick fan here on Tumblr. Maybe I’ll add more if I can. We’ll see. In the meantime, enjoy!

💊Has major depression and anxiety. Writer’s block and his fading popularity are the two main causes. In the main game, his goal is to make a magnificent comeback with a host of brand new songs he wrote himself but the words have been hard to find. The titles in his diary (i.e. Rocket, Blast Off) are his failed attempts at writing songs. He copes with joy and alcohol.

👐He has very expressive hands. They’re constantly moving when he’s talking or deep in thought. This increases even further when he’s anxious or angry.

📝His favorite subject in school was English. His desire to become a poet came from reading the works or William Shakespeare, John Keats, and other great poets. He would spend his breaks at school reading poetry and writing his own poems. He used to be able to recite every line of his favorite poems but due to his addiction to joy, he has mostly forgotten them.

🎸As a young adult, he also started to write his own songs which drove him to learn how to play the guitar. He eventually learned how to play the piano too and does so just as beautifully as the guitar. His rejected former bandmate. Morrie Memento, has claimed to be a better piano player than him many times. One of Nick’s first songs was a lovely little tune about a female classmate he fancied. Unfortunately, he has since forgotten them too.

🛋He hasn’t slept in his bed in ages. He more frequently winds up on a couch or even the floor when he passes out. Good luck trying to wake him up. That man can sleep through an earthquake.

🕺In addition to the suit he wears in the game, he has several others that he wore to concerts, including a suit with a multitude of flowers like the ones @sea-side-scribbles draws. To call them flamboyant would be an understatement.

🍾It’s evident in the DLC that Nick is hugely popular with the ladies. Hundreds of female fans profess their love for him in letters and some have even ended their engagements and marriages to make themselves available. This has earned the star some unexpected visits from angry husbands who blame him for their failed relationships. Secret rooms were built inside his home so he could make a quick escape if he needs to. Over the years those rooms were given a new purpose. Nick hosts private, extragavent parties in the huge room Sally sneaks into for those lucky enough to be close to the star himself.

the dude can hide-in-plain-sight, totally unnoticed and non-threatening, while carrying an arsenal of weapons and gadgets. AND vanish by just slipping around a corner and into any little hidey-hole

and he's clever. he can mix up drugs on the fly, seems to have zero self-preservation when it comes to ingesting his own homemade remedies or extremely questionable items which barely pass as food. you haven't experienced hell until you're on the receiving end of arthur dropping a banger, vomit bomb, and then coming in with a shovel to smash your head in

imagine being a bobby interacting with arty?? this slight, totally unassuming, chipper young man greets you and gives you alcohol, then when your back is turned he chokes you out and the downer detectors start going crazy while you're blacking out, then he robs you while you're unconscious before fleeing the scene

and you probably had no idea he was a downer until he struck

so, take my headcanon the bobbies enjoy freaking each other out with stories of arthur and bobbies lowkey being freaked the fuck out when they inevitably encounter him, unsure if he's going to kill them or beat them unconscious

You make them smile so much! Almost as much as their Joy. 

They make sure to shield you from the horrors of the job, and will not tell you stories of the experiments on downers or their failed attempts to cure people with the plague. 

You both find complete rest in each other. They feel comfortable coming home after a hard day, popping a Joy, and snuggling close with you.

You feel comfortable enough to talk to them about your bad day, and they always offer you an extra Joy. 

Doctors know more about anatomy and muscle structures than other ordinary citizens, and can give excellent massages as a result. 

Very protective of you, especially if you live near the garden district. 

No one will be allowed to lay hands on you or hurt you in any way.

They always treat you gently, as if you might shatter or vanish at any moment.

If it starts raining and you are caught unawares, they are more than happy to lend you their black coat.

You end up being a good source of the flowers they wear in their coats.

well, i haven’t posted in a while, but here’s something i found in my writing box a little while ago-- a list of arthur hastings headcanons!

he fiddles with his glasses when he’s nervous (pushing them up and down on his nose, tilting them one way or the other, tapping them)

he polishes them religiously, likely with a set number of rubs or something (i don’t want to say 100, but...)

naturally this does nothing once he gets to the garden district but the good thing is that they’re reading glasses so he can see fine when he’s not... wearing them...

he finds sewing his clothing calming

his favorite flavor of joy is coconut (because it reminds him of the sweets his mom would make with coconut shavings, but he doesn’t realize that)

in wellington wells, he owned an uncle jack plushie (and deeply cherished it)

one time someone shoved a racy magazine into the pneumatic tube. arthur was too embarrassed to tell anyone, let alone confront whoever did it... but then he got paranoid that if he threw it away someone would find it and link it to him, so now it’s shoved under the cushions in his office
