Half-Korean Mattsun is entering my domain.

His mom is half-Korean, and an expatriate (though high-end white collar worker) who came to work in Japan and married Mattsun's dad. Mattsun inherited his curly hair and tanned skin from his mom.

Even though they have Korean blood, they never watch any K-drama or listen to Kpop.

Mattsun's mom is good at English (obv due to the nature of her job) and his dad is good at it too. So their family became a sorta multi-language-y household, where both English, Korean, and Japanese are exchanged. Mattsun is fluent in English because of that, but he's most fluent in Japanese (Korean comes third).

Mattsun, Iwa, and Oikawa are fluent in English (they probably speak more than English and Japanese). Oikawa has a language ability (Japanese, Portuguese, English, Spanish), Iwa is half-Filipino and has Filipino American relatives (so he speaks Japanese, Filipino, some Chinese, English), even though his mom speaks only Japanese to him and his dad, and Mattsun's home uses a lot of languages. Hanamaki has no idea what's going on whenever these three speaks English, but he finds that they are very useful to travel with. He's proud because having 3 trilingual friends where trilingualism is uncommon is a pretty good feat.

i'm not really a big daisuga shipper but one detail i can't ignore every time i rewatch the first few episodes of haikyuu is the fact that daichi says to kageyama "for the rest of my time at karasuno, you won't be setter" when he's laying down the stakes for the 3-on-3 because i'm positive daichi knew that kageyama coming to karasuno meant that he'd instantly replace suga as their starting setter, and with this year being their last, daichi would obviously want to spend it with his friend on the court rather than on the sidelines and i just think that that's very sweet of him.

#obviously that isn't what happened but the sentiment was definitely there #why else would daichi specifically ban kageyama from being a setter? he literally could have banned him from being a starter entirely. #but no. daichi specifically chose to ban him from being a setter. because it would allow suga to continue to play throughout their #final year #knowing how much suga sacrificed in his final year for the off-chance that they'd fly higher. #the way he willingly gave up his position to kageyama- even when kageyama fought back- just to have a chance at making it to nationals #just for a chance to stand in that stadium. not even on the court. #suga barely touches the court throughout his last year at karasuno. save for a couple matches against seijoh #kageyama may be my favourite but suga holds a very very special place in my heart <3 #he was my fave for a couple years after i watched haikyuu for the first time actually #and he's still definitely up there #volleyball guys
