I don't get how people ship sakura and togame when they are RIGHT!! HERE!! What he likes best has always been by HIS SIDE! AND IT'S TOGAME!

Look at how Togame looks so softly at Choji

I can't get over that soft touch of Choji it breaks my heart.

If TOGAME left CHOJI then Choji would've ended up with nothing. TOGAME was the one who kept CHOJI tied to everyone else. Togame literally made himself the villian to the gang and to everyone else just to see Choji smile. They're besties and soulmates and everything for each other. Like c'mon. Just look at them.

OH OH OH AND ONE MORE THING. Togame canonicaly sees Choji as sun. CHOJI IS HIS SUN, SUNSHINE AND ALL THINGS WARM HOW CAN YOU NOT SHIP THEM

It's safe to say that Windbreaker is testing the waters in stepping away from toxic masculinity. At first glance, it looks like your typical shonen manga full of brawls and strength tiers. (Sure, they have that too.) But they so boldly explore the main protagonist's emotional vulnerability. And that's just the least of it.

SPOILER incoming!!!

Despite being a Shōnen manga, (i.e. a genre targeted at youngish male audiences), one of the strongest ones in their school is an AMAB crossdresser, whose backstory is openly explored. Yes, I'm talking about the emotions in realizing you're different and being in the closet about it, and learning that it's okay to like the things that you like!!! And this character also openly likes another guy! It's crazy good that a Shōnen manga was bold enough to do that!

Summary

With the afternoon patrols wrapped up, Tsubaki was completely devoted to her evening plans with her juniors and vice-captains. As ordered by their leader, they would enjoy their youth as much as possible! So, if she had anything to say about it, Bofūrin was going to take downtown Makochi by storm, eating tasty treats and making lovely memories. However, those plans didn't exactly include a date with Umemiya Hajime, or the shenanigans therein.

But spending time with the person she loved wasn't the worst detour she'd ever taken, even if he was a handful.

I’m reading the Windbreaker manga right now, and wow, I sure do love characters who end up finding homes in other people and sacrificing everything in order to make sure that those people get to continue living as happily as they always have while also discovering their own identities in the process.

No, but really.

There’s something so lovely about Sakura referencing Bofurin as where his friends belong rather than where he belongs. They’ve protected this town for years and loved it for even longer, and the reason why he’s re-discovered the parts of himself that he buried is because this place allowed them to help him. He doesn’t want to see them pushed out of their home — the home that’s become his own just as much as it is theirs because it’s where they are. He even acknowledges this when he corrects himself by saying that he’ll be the one to lose everything if Bofurin disappears.

And, god, I could talk about Tachihara for hours. He was barely five when his older brother died, and he had to deal with the fact that no one he knew and loved preferred him over a dead man whose face was a mirror to his own. Then when he tried to break free from that image, he ended up right back in the same place that Shunzen did. Dehumanized by the military for the sole purpose of winning an unnecessary war. When he goes undercover, I don’t think he ever could’ve expected just how desperately he’d come to love his team and his allies. Enough that he’d be willing to go against what he thought was his core identity to protect them.
