walt academy was the main draw for marinette. hours researching in her bedroom with her best friend, countless mental breakdowns over what was the right decision, they all brought her to one singular school. sure, it’s no institut français de la mode, but she’d tried that and failed miserably. apparently, multitasking isn’t exactly appreciated when you’re expected to earn your place among the greats with exceptional work every single week. and being a superhero was quite a taxing second job, or at that point, a second life for marinette. it had become impossible to combine the two, and together they threatened to destroy her. her friends noticed, and pulled her out. at first, she wasn’t even sure another school would be the right choice for her; after all, being ladybug and protecting paris from evil was her main purpose in life, but marinette had never chosen anything for herself, only ever for the good of the people around her. despite how difficult it was to believe, it was time for her to choose marinette for once.

so walt academy it was. she left behind her old life ( well, sort of. she brought her superhero alter-ego with her, because you never know when a shouted ‘spots on !’ can come in handy in the middle of an unknown country, state, and city ) and packed up her things. it was stressful, but she knows in the end everything will probably be worth it. and if not, at least she can say honestly that she tried her best. she just has to learn to navigate her new life, and to accept that it’s okay if she fails again. there’s no harm in that. but hey, try telling that to someone who has told themselves for over ten years that she needs to be perfect no matter the costs, or people get hurt.

now in elias, marinette once again holds down a parttime job while studying ( and occasionally scouting the rooftops for trouble ), but things are much more manageable than they were. with expert counselling and understanding professors, there’s a nice balance for her and easy adjustments to make. but still, she’s not sure if this is the right place for her. she might not ever be.

past !!

marinette’s life truly began at the age of thirteen. it was an incredibly young age to be burdened with saving the capital city of france, if not sometimes the world, but she bravely shouldered it for the good of everyone. an old man gave her a pair of spotted earrings, and just like that her world had changed. she was now the holder of the ladybug miraculous of creation, the power to restore evil done. but every action has its equal and opposite reaction, and creation cannot exist without destruction. so ladybug had her partner against crime, chat noir. and things were well.

with powerups, upgrades and friends who tagged along on their adventures when the dynamic duo needed a bit of help, things, in fact, were well for a long time. evil remained, but the miraculous gang was able to keep it in check and save the citizens of paris time and time again. everyone casually overlooked the fact that it was a bunch of children saving them, of course, or it was the magic of the miraculous. no one knew. 

eventually, everyone completed their end of year exam and graduated, including marinette. now an adult, she had choices to make, and went with the one she pressured herself into; fashion school in paris. it was the most obvious choice for her, with her outstanding designs that caught the eye of gabriel agreste himself. things went well for the first few weeks; she observed many of the great minds of fashion, saw how they worked and took interesting classes she actually enjoyed. but the first two assessment periods gave marinette a much-needed reality check; she could not continue being ladybug while turning in less-than-mediocre work at the single most prestigious fashion institute in the world. dividing her time between working her ass off to barely pass classes and literally saving the city was taking a toll on her performance in both fields, and she broke down. finally, she made the decision for herself and came to walt academy for a fresh start.

she’s retained much of her childhood self after her reality checks, mainly her insecurity. things at walt are easier, but there will always be that looming threat of failure due to her past experiences in paris. her sense of determination and independence also hasn’t gone away, coupled with the fact that she still hides half of her life from the world. thankfully, she’s learned to be less clumsy ( thank you, etiquette lessons ) and to keep her explosive anger in check... somewhat. it’s something that sticks with you after being judge, jury and executioner for so long. 

future !!

i’d like for marinette to build a new life in elias. i don’t want her to forget her roots, because paris will always be close to her heart, but that sense of a second home would be ideal. though she hides it, her heart is still pretty set on adrien, but you never know ! i’m open to any and all connections for her. i want her to have some success in the fashion industry, to see her hard work paid off, but ultimately it’ll be a toss-up between her passions; baking with her family, designing with the greats, and fighting crime with her partners. 

of course, success cannot come with at least a few failures, and no one becomes a star overnight. marinette is far from done with learning from her mistakes and she needs to make a few more to discover who she is; because that’s what this journey is truly about.

More Misc Thoughts About My Winx Club AU

so im thinking about how brianna, the fairy of art, powers work.

im thinking that the epithets each girl has comes from like...themselves. like the og winx got theirs for marketing mostly (imo argue if you want but yeah) but i think as each fairy or witch connects more with their powers they give themselves an epithets as they specialize or lean more in one way.

example: like there could be another fairy with a strong connection to water. but as they grow they really lean into drawing power from fresh water sources, while aisha uses morphix. so aisha in italian, i believe, is the fairy of fluids so the plasma like morphix works well for her. if that makes sense yknow?

so for brianna...im thinking of changing her to like beinf from solaria and making her a fairy of color? like itll give her a rainbow motif and since i wanted a hippie style personality and boho fashion inspo, and the art thing could related to that. though i dont think a magic user connected to light has to be from solaria, so she still might be from callisto. idk. i think with her magic she can manipulate light into something a bit more thick, kinda paint like. guess itd be like morphix...hm perhaps aisha will mentor brianna a bit? idk

im also thinking more about zari, the fairy of paper. much like brianna im thinking about making her from linphea cause after doing some research paper is just related to narute and plants. right now i have her from dolona. which again, just brings up that i dont think ppl connected to nature need to be from linphea but im not sure now. also, i need to look into different types of paper to understand them better. i know (at least i think i know) ppl used to use cotton and linens for paper, called rags, i think. im still working this out.

a new thought ive been having recently though, is adding a specialist, or sorcerer, to the mix as a part of the club and not just side characters.

in this au, guy fairies and wizards (so like here im thinking that fairies and sorcerer arent gendered terms in this au but witch and wizard are. if that bothers you im sorry, but i dont wanna call them witches of the black circle and sorcerers of the black circle isnt as cool). but im not 100% on what actually makes them different in terms of magic. like from the wiki i remember fairies use positive magic and witches negative, which is a choice so a person can switch around. i dont remember anything about sorcerers or magicians tho. i suppose it would make sense for them to mostly use neutral magic or like a mix of negative and positive magic.

im still trying to figure out that kind of thing.

now agatha. agatha, agatha, agatha...shes the witch of sweets cause really i was thinking about hansel and gretel and other witches that uses food to trap their victims. really so she leans into using candy, sugar, and baked goods kind of spells. agatha is really good with potions and things like that. havent thought much about lana yet.

there are a lot of vague ideas i have about this. but thats all for now!

Bathing suits & cover-ups

Overall, Layla's colors are different shades of green, purple, and also having blue under tones.

She looks absolutely incredible in green, and I will fight anyone who disagrees

Layla is a sporty one. Always proofing she can keep up with the boys

She lives all kinds of sports especially in the water

She is the fairy of water, waves, and everything in between

So, her bathing suits need to be functional for watersports

I think she would wear high wasted shorts to keep everything in place when she steals the guys jetski

But she also enjoys to show some fun designs (she is one of the winx after all and they are always on point with their looks)

Boring? Idk her

More fun designs would have some glitter and some sleeves design and different shapes

Some shapes resemble sea shells

Everything that is water themed

It reminds her of home and displays her deep connection to the ocean

However, you always need to have an outfit to go to and from the beach

I think she would have simple but cute cover-ups. Playing with different shapes and you can do a lot with wraps like that. Tie then in different ways and create new cute outfits

Stell would be all over that

And although lalyla would be a bit uncomfortable, she would let Stella fuss over that because she knows that it is Stella's way of showing that she cares

She would not have too much accessories.

Her main accessory would be sunglasses

Maybe if they go to the beach bar after she would have some earnings or necklaces around her belly

She has a strong dislike towards injustice, though nervous to stick up initially. Lani has a somewhat mischievous side as when she outruns cops and tricks Sonic and Tails thinking they were enemies at first. Later she becomes more outspoken against injustice, and makes a conscious effort to reach out.

Relationships: Noelani is very good friends with the main heroes despite rocky beginning. While she can't always be there due to circumstances she is supporting them however she can. She has a friendship with Amy, regarding her as a sister.

Love Interest: Currently Sonic the Hedgehog; they have an on/off relationship, and regularly keep in touch. However in the movies it's a love triangle: Sonic and Knuckles fight over her much to her annoyance. It's weird.

I’ve been like this my whole life lol. My childhood had me immersed in Bratz, MyScene, Winx Club, and Lisa Frank. I always got toy makeup and hair accessories. I always had the cutest little outfits with bags to go with. I got my hair professionally done like every two weeks - 1 month. I got into doing my own hair in middle school and makeup in the tenth grade, and skincare soon after. I think it has a lot to do with your own natural, personal interests. My aesthetic has changed slightly over the years but the girliness has been consistent.

I notice these moms and their anti girliness/fashion/self pampering is popular. I’m lucky I didn’t deal too much with that. Live for you and only you. Don’t try to appease your mom by stepping into a look that you don’t feel yourself in. Please! When you look in the mirror, you are looking at you, not your mom. Respectfully be yourself regardless of any nay sayers.

I recommend using Pinterest for inspo and making mood boards like I do on here. Caption the boards with the attitude you’re feeling/going for with your new look. Try clothes that highlight your silhouette, go for pinks and purples, buy some dainty jewelry, start doing your hair, etc. Make cute little routines for you to keep up with your appearance. Go to girly stores in the mall. Buy handbags and glitzy accessories. That’s just a start.

You can be whoever you want to be and express YOURSELF however you please. It is your autonomous right to be unapologetically you. I hope this helps love! 💕

Well,, I started drawing when I was very young. Literally a toddler and never stopped (aside from a couple months I was doing regular kid things)

I was very inspired by the television shows I consumed. I loved sailor moon, dragon ball z, winx club etc. I used to spend hours trying to replicate it! As I got older my interests changed and I desperately wanted a more realistic art style. It was incredibly short lived because I watched Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure and decided I wanted to draw like that. As of now, I find several artists works very intriguing! And I take from them the things I like and apply it to my own work. (You included ;))

For my sense of style, I’m not sure what “faction” of alternative I’d fit in to. I wear a lot of black and wear black lipstick when I’m not confined to a mask. My style can range from gothic Victorian lady to emo bruh girl. It depends on the occasion!

So like this is me expressing all of my thoughts and opinions on the fate: the winx saga trailer and umm I have a lot of them. I kind of word vomited these thoughts on @ray-ofmoonlight so hopefully this is more like, understandable and coherent. The spacing is horrible though, sorry I copied and pasted this from the notes app.

I have a lot of problems with the trailer and the direction they seem to be taking so far, but the biggest issue to me is the poc erasure.

In the source material, 3/6 of the main characters ore people of colour. The show was well known for its diversity, and it was loved by a lot of poc kids because they could see themselves in different characters. All of the main characters appearances were based on different ‘it girls’ of the early 2000’s. There’s Musa who was modeled after Lucy Liu (Asian), Flora was based on Jennifer Lopez (Latina) and Aisha/Layla who was based off of Beyoncé (Black). Though there were issues with these characters being whitewashed later on in the franchise, the winx club that most of us grew up with told stories of very powerful girls who poc kids could look up to and see themselves in.

However, in the reboot, one (1) member of the main cast is a person of colour. This is Aisha. While I’m happy she wasn’t whitewashed, the treatment of the other two poc characters is frankly disgusting. A white actress was casted to play Musa and Flora’s character was erased entirely. Instead, she was replaced by a new character named Terra who literally has the same powers as Flora. What was the reason 🧍🏻‍♀️.

I also take issue with them completely scrapping two members of the main cast - Flora and Techna. I’ve briefly touched on Flora at this point and I’ll hold back on ranting about how she was one of the most lovable characters with beautiful character arcs and development, like when it’s implied that she literally d i e d to she save her sister in the episode where she got her enchanted powers. Techna’s character is meant to represent women in STEM. As the fairy of technology, she was constantly working on computer programs and technological advancements in general which a lot of young girls who were interested in STEM could relate to. I personally didn’t resonate with Techna too much as a kid but I know a lot of young women who idolized Techna are now studying to work in STEM.

Apart from them meaning a lot to the audience in terms of representation, they’re overall just interesting and lovable characters. The dynamics between them and the rest of the characters were well thought out and executed in the cartoon. For example, again, Flora’s enchantix episode in season 3 when she sacrificed herself for her sister or when Techna trapped herself in the omega dimension to save Andros and the rest of the magical universe from Valtor. Those episodes in particular show you how much they care for the others. Jdjdjdndndndn but please they don’t need to be self sacrificing to be relevant. For example, I was talking to moonie about this and she brought up the arc where Techna was really awkward and didn’t know what to do around Timmy, or when they had to clean the entirety of Alfea without magic before they could go to a party? Those episodes were genuinely so much fun.

One of the writers, Brian Young, opted to ditch the original look of the fairies because “Nobody looks like that. It was the most important thing to me that every kid can feel like they see themselves in it... Real girls, real people.” So where is this energy for POC kids????

There is absolutely nothing wrong with casting women of different body types because they deserve representation as well. As a die hard fan of the series, I can admit that their body proportions are ridiculously skinny and there should be diversity in the body types of the actresses. My issue is that they replaced the two poc characters (I’m counting Flora as being replaced by Terra) with chubby white actresses. Could we not have POC actresses with different body types instead?? Or have at least one of the canonically white characters have a different body type?? Like we asked for representation and they said you can have one or the other, not both djdndnnddnn

Moving on from the issues with representation, I also just really hate how they turned such a beautiful, colourful show into a typical dark academia scene. I personally love the dark academia aesthetic but winx club it well known and loved for its trendy y2k fashion. They even had real designers come in and help design some of the characters outfits in the cartoons. It honestly feels like every show aimed at young (mostly female) adults produced by Netflix looks the exact same. It’s so boring, ESPECIALLY because y2k fashion is trendy right now. It would’ve been so fun to see the characters experiment with bright colour palettes and serve as huge fashion inspo. It would also help to distinguish the show from others. Not to mention outfits shown in the trailer are absolutely horrific. It feels like a hate crime 😭🤚 Terra and Musa look RIDICULOUS and Stella wouldn’t be caught dead in that floor length black fit. The colour palettes are mixed up in terms of which colours represent each character and they look more like your local conservative prayer group with their token black friend than fairies.

In all honestly, they could’ve made this show and said it was loosely inspired by winx. It seems to be very different from the source material in the worst way possible.

Also irrelevant but I was really looking forward to see how they would cast the trix, especially stormy, but they were also removed from the storyline.

tdlr; the whitewashing and erasure is ridiculous and disappointing. the show had an opportunity to distinguish itself via the colour palettes and style from the source material but instead decided to change the aesthetic because apparently dark academia = maturity.

Personality

Most iterations of Kaysha depicts her as a bubbly and passionate young woman. Her biggest flaws can be her hidden insecurities and tendencies to be a drama queen. Abilities

In every continuity she's in, Kaysha does not develop superpowers. This leaves her with normal human weaknesses and limitations.

Her preferred weapons are bladed war fans and tanto, and she is adept at close range. She lacks long range and is not a fast agile fighter, so she relies on quick thinking, stealth and evasion tactics.

Another skill she possesses is using her knowledge of fashion to create intricate disguises. This is especially helpful in undercover missions. Her friendly demeanor allows her to communicate with allies easily.

Backstory: Her backstory involves her being a vocal opponent of the Purple Dragons, unwilling to see her brothers fall victim to gang violence. Due to the nature of the franchise the exact story of how she met the turtles changes. Typically, she would meet them either completely on accident or they save her from a bad guy and her curiosity gets the better of her and she goes to look for her mysterious rescuers.
