Fan theory! (Excuse me if this is wrong. I don’t know anything about meteorology.)
So. A storm swept Luna from one continent across a massive ocean to another, seemingly unharmed. We see that in Burn’s ‘weirdling tower’ the same has happened to two other SilkWings, possibly more, but they weren’t so lucky.
How? Well I think that every decade (or so) a huge storm rolls across a certain path, crossing the Pantalan coast, possibly sweeping up some dragons, then turning around to go near (but not quite reach) the Phyrrian coast, before careening back off into the sea.
This makes some sense because the other two SilkWings clearly drowned just before reaching the beach. I think that Luna got lucky and was dragged to shore by the current.
Another interesting thing I noticed is that a similar storm hit Pantala just after ClearSight arrived, but it also covered the mainland and was much more destructive. Is it possible that its course and strength have changed?

I have a personal headcanon that while underwater, SeaWings use mainly ASL to communicate ideas and thoughts and that the bioluminescent flashes are there to give tone, tense, etc.
(I'm new to learning ASL, please forgive any mistakes I made here in the signs)

For arc 4, I think Tui should expand on the idea of the mysterious Beryl dragon Scarlet hated so much. Maybe it could be a villain or maybe they hold the answers to what the protags seeks.
Or maybe Beryl was Scarlets "I can fix her" ex, who tried to make her see the world differently and become a little bit better for her subjects. But failed and Scarlet chased her off.
Also, little theory about what tribe Beryl is, it's dumb and anybody can search it. And I'm gonna start talking like I'm writing an essay, so be warned.
By researching what Beryl, I'm gonna rule out tribes that can be named it, and if Scarlet would befriend a dragon from that tribe
The tribes that I will rule out completely are the Pantalan tribes, as nobody knew of them during Scarlets reign.
(Straight from google)
"Beryl is a transparent pale green, blue, or yellow mineral consisting of a silicate of beryllium and aluminum, and sometimes used as a gemstone."
The name is practically the only information on Beryl we have. Beryl, being a mineral, rules out Sandwing, Rainwing, and nightwings, as according to the wof wiki (the only place I know to look), all three tribes have not had a character named after minerals yet. So this leaves Skywings, Seawings, Mudwings, and Icewings.
We know that Skywings can be named minerals and gemstones, seawings can be named gemstones, mudwings can be named diamonds and minerals, and icewings can be named after white or blue gemstones.
However, these last 4 options can not be broken down farther by the characteristic of Beryl, as they all apply to it. But, Beryl, the dragon themself, we know that Vermillion never heard of this dragon, Scarlet hated them, and they are possibly still alive. Making the speculation that Scarlet knew Beryl during the war, we know that Scarlet would never befriend a Seawing or Icewing, as they are not allied with her. This leaves Skywing and Mudwing.
Knowing Scarlet, she most likely was uninterested by mudwings, as most of them are described as boring and not entertaining. So it is most likely that Beryl was/is a skywing. What a shock.
I probably didn't need to write this because everyone already assumes Beryl is a skywing lol. But I'm stuck at home for a few days because of medical problems 👍

I find the idea that dragons started the scorching because scavengers started stealing dragon eggs very funny. Like a whole bunch of parents and would-be fathers, mothers, or parents grouped up to destroy the civilization that stole and killed their children so it wouldn't happen again, only for dragons to be the worst parents possible. Like seriously we have Scarlet, Coral, Prudence (Foeslayer's mom), Clays mom who I forgot, Arctic, Diamond, Cobra, Narwhal, Tundra, and Morrowseer. Like these dragons aren't the exception most dragon parents are probably like this with the nice ones being an outlier.

What if hivewings..have the abilities of nightwings?
What if hivewings..have the abilities of nightwings? After all, they are their closest relatives. The "black scales" gene is still dominant in hivewings. Then they also have the genes for the magical abilities of nightwings..? What if Clearsight just didn't want any of her descendants to inherit mind reading and future sight? What if she thought it might harm her children? And perhaps for this reason Clearsight lied to the pantalan dragons that nightwings incubate their eggs in complete darkness. Therefore, hivewings began to incubate their eggs in separate nurseries (where there is not a single window, and almost no lighting), in deference to the traditions of Clearsight's tribe. But if a hivewing hatches under moonlight, they will be able to gain mild mind-reading/future sight. Or these abilities would be somehow changed (visions about the past, the ability to see the dead, etc.)

i love Peril so much i love her more than literally anything, she means so much to me as a character.
this is just one reason, but, as a person w bpd, Peril is SO bpd coded. i haven’t gotten to her book yet, but even from the first few scenes i saw her in it was so clear to me!!! the abuse queen scarlet puts her through and the trauma she goes through as a newborn dragonet, believing she is inherently a monster, everyone seeing Peril as dangerous and a threat even though her circumstances and upbringing aren’t her fault, her attatchment to Clay and how she views other dragons that are close to him, her not knowing exactly the right way to interact w other dragons due to the affects of how Scarlet treated her—i could go on, and probably will in another post when i get to her book. There is a lot of amazing representation in WOF regarding the effects of trauma, specifically traumatic childhoods, but Peril stands out to me so much. i’ve read a snippet of her book already (but there’s a lot in the scenes in ‘the dragonet prophecy’ and ‘the brightest night’ too!!) and even the way Tui writes Peril’s internal dialogue is just so accurate to my own experience w bpd. when i get to her book i know i’ll have so much more evidence and a TON more to say, but i just wanted to get this out bc i can’t stop thinking about her.
anyway, Peril i love you soooooooo much <33

y’all I was digging though my docs and just found the most unhinged theory I’ve ever made 💀
ok here it is copy pasted (it has some plotholes ok)
Arctic had to have some Nightwing trait in order for Darkstalker to look as Nightwing as he did, right? Well, he did. Here’s my conspiracy theory…
Diamond had a love. He was a Nightwing. They were the best pair, with infinite love for each other. They were together for years. Diamond made all sorts of gifts for him with her animus magic. Little did she know it was slowly eating away at her soul.
She also used her magic to hide him. It was forbidden to have a partner from another tribe. Unfortunately, she ended up with an egg. Of course, she couldn’t get rid of it. It might have been a female, and she needed heirs. Even if it wasn’t, she still needed more animus dragons. But nobody could know that it was a hybrid. She cast her largest spell yet. She used a spell to make her dragonet appear full Icewing.
Back to her love. He knew that he would love his dragonet infinitely. He would raise it with Diamond. He’d imagined that millions of times. So when she made it Icewing, he was heartbroken. They say there are five stages of grief: shock, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance. He was beyond angry at the time. He immediately ended their romance (which had lasted since they were young dragonets). He moved back to his tribe and eventually lived a secluded life in the tribe as an outsider. He wasn’t talked about or talked to. Ever.
After casting so many spells for her mate, and her gift to the tribe and changing her egg, Diamond was nearing her breaking point. It was convenient that he had made her hate Nightwings forever. The perfect tipping point to go insane and wage crazed war on the Nightwings.
So, in conclusion, Darkstalker’s father, Arctic, was really half Nightwing. That’s why Darkstalker looked so Nightwing. Of course, Arctic never knew. Otherwise his thoughts would have probably shown something at some point about his hybridness.

Due to Queen Wasp’s misuse of the Book of Clearsight, it’s easy to see many dragons not believing in Clearsight anymore. Silkwings and Leafwings especially must’ve felt a sense of betrayal, and must’ve felt like Clearsight favourited her descendants.
This of course isn’t true, Clearsight is a very loving dragon who wants whats best for everyone. But she must feel horrible if she knows that once again, other dragons are left questioning whether she loved them or not. She was heartbroken when she put Darkstalker under his centuries long slumber, and she probably felt horrible to know that Darkstalker most likely questioned if she ever loved him after that. And for that same question to come up again, but now for two whole tribes to be left confused and betrayed under her name, I can’t imagine the guilt.

Ok, so if Tui has said that Tsunami has blue blood multiple times, can we theorise that Coral cheated on Gill with an icewing? Just putting it out there since I havent heard anyone else suggest this.

Ok, I have a weird Wings Of fire theory, Winter had more animus active genes than most dragons besides animus dragons, I personally think this because Winter is the only dragon we know of to feel animus magic, he felt that Pyrite had something to do with animus magic, it's strange how only Winter feels animus magic, but if he has like 99% of his animus genes active it would make a bit of since that he could feel animus magic.

Dragonet guardians headcanons
Webbs- • used to be close to the royal family • born to two of Coral’s advisors • was taught by Whirlpool and HATED him • had his whole life planned out for him by his parents • his wife and son were everything to him • he and his wife weren’t in love, they were a QPR • was in love with Dune but never told him • Aquatic was his least favourite subject • thus he didn’t teach it to Tsunami
Kestrel- • proposed to Soar but he abandoned her • knew Sky was still alive but didn’t trust herself as a parent • Scarlet bullied her as a dragonet • Clay was her favourite of the DoD • she and Asha were in a relationship • knew Blister would kill her but went anyway
Dune- • loved Sunny like a daughter • trust issues after Burn caused his injuries • was very close with Hvitur • misses Six-Claws and idolises him • tries to teach the dragonets in the way Six-Claws taught him.

Mudwing theory! I was thinking about mudwings and how they don't seem to have as cool of abilities compared to the other tribes, while they do have some abilities they are still very limited it seems and not enough is gone into detail about there tribe. However, what if they're super adaptable?
They can't breathe fire unless they are warm enough so what if that happens because it helps keep them internally warmer in colder climates? Now they may not enjoy being in colder places but they could be with less issue than other tribes (besides icewings of course) and because of this they could easily visit the icewing territory for longer periods of time than other tribes if they were allowed to.
The abilities they do have also seem like very adaptable traits already despite not being very exciting individually. Mudwings seem to actually have quite a few powers in this case which probably makes them great survivors in extreme conditions so they could probably live anywhere.

WOF Theory!
DISCLAIMER
This Is A Theory I Made About Humans In WOF Before Reading Arc 3, So Tell Me If I'm Wrong In The Comments ( I Heard Arc 3 Was About Humans ).
THEORY TIME!!!
The Humans Are Just People From The Future Who Have Downgraded Because Of, Well, The Old Saying 'World War 3 Will Be Fought With Nukes, But World War 4 Will Be Fought With Sticks And Stones'. This Means That Nuclear Fallout Sent Humans Back To The Stone Age, And May Have Created New Strange Animals, Continents And More!!! This Could Mean That Dragons Are Just Mutated Reptiles Using Radioactive Powers!!! ( And That Pantala And Pyrriah Are Just All Of Earth's Continents Morphed Into Coincidental Dragon Like Shapes ) The Scorching Could Also Have Been The 'World War 3' That Reset Humans, Which Would Explain My Recent Scorching Theory About Animus Magic. The 'Animus Magic' Is Really Just Dragons Finding Out About And Using The Radioactive Waste.

Very strange genetics of the seawing royal family.
Warning: This post raises the topic of incest. You have been warned.
The genetics of the seawing royal family are very... very strange. Just think. Only seawing royalty has special markings on its wings, although this is strange. How were they the only ones able to preserve this markings only in their family? And not only markings, but also animus magic genes. For example, Queen Coral has over 32 sons. Almost every one of these sons will have children. And most likely more than one. This means that the number of royal family members will increase tenfold. And there will be more potential heirs. This can have dire consequences. For example, civil strife, a war for power and a repetition of the story of the “Three Sandwing Sisters”. What if royal genes get into the blood of ordinary seawings? Then, logically speaking, half the population of the Sea Kingdom should have the royal markings. But that did not happen. What if one of the Queen's children doesn't have the markings? Will they no longer belong to the royal family? What if the children of this seawing will have royal markings and want to seize power? How does the seawing royal family keep these markings genes active without allowing them to spread? There is only one answer - incest. Incest has always been common in royal families, and seawings are no exception. They even have a huge reason to keep these genes to themselves, because the seawing royal family has powerful genes. Animus genes. And if they get among the other seawings, then almost every seawing can be born as an animus. This could have dire consequences, as the royal family could lose their power, etc.

thinking about Orca again.
Why did she choose to challenge Queen Coral when she was only 7 years old? we don’t really know what type of relationship Orca and Coral had, or why Orca decided to challenge Coral when she did. at first i thought it was because the queen was going to try to use her animus powers in the same way she is using Anemone, but Orca hid her powers from the queen. was it because she hated queen coral and wanted to be queen so badly that she couldn’t wait longer?
clearly she thought she would win the challenge, her statue in the nursery being already enchanted to kill future heirs BEFORE she entered the fight proves that. But Queen Coral ended up winning, and as she was dying Orca said “I did this all wrong. you’re going to rule forever, aren’t you, mother? you should thank me…” … but if Orca was an animus dragon could she not have won the fight easily using her powers? she probably wanted to keep her powers hidden, but because nobody knew she had magic, could she not have quietly used magic to assist her and make it look like it was a natural kill instead of a magical one? she would have saved her own life and secured her win by doing that. did she care about it being a fair win enough to not use her powers? or was there another reason?
if she was concerned about her soul turning evil from using her powers to kill Queen Coral, i’d understand not wanting to use them during the fight. HOWEVER … isn’t the concept of her statue pretty dark? it implies that—if Orca had won—she would have just been completely fine with every single one of her female eggs being smashed. now that could be just how Orca was; just kind of ruthless and power hungry (ig ?), and willing to see her eggs die if it meant she wouldn’t have competition for the throne. but, could it also have been partly because of her soul beginning to turn due to the use of her Animus powers? we don’t really know how much she used them or what she was using them for. though the statue would lead us to believe she used them—at least sometimes—for selfish reasons, which could mean that her soul had begun to turn slightly.
if Orca had enchanted the statue as she was dying as a way to take revenge on queen coral, her whole situation would have made more sense. but based on the fact that she chose to challenge the queen so young, AND she wanted to ensure all her own dragonets would be murdered just so she could remain queen, it kind of seems like her soul was already being corrupted by her powers. but if she had been corrupted, did nobody notice any changes in her behavior or thinking? even if they were subtle changes.
Because even when queens plan ahead and think about how to keep themselves from being challenged for the throne, they usually have at least one dragonet who’s a direct heir, even if they take measures to keep control over them. because longevity of your own kingdom and species is obviously (or, at least most likely) important to every type of queen, even if it’s for selfish reasons, because every clear-thinking dragon knows they won’t live forever. unless it was Orcas plan to win the queen challenge and then secretly enchant herself to live forever like Jerboa I?? would she have kept her animus powers a secret as queen??
i don’t know, i’m just very curious about the Orca era and Orca as a character. many brainworms.
