Your head thuds with the pounding of the hammer. Curled up on your chaise, you try to take a nap to no avail. There’s no way you’ll be able to, not with your handler’s friend fixing the bed.

Shadow curls at your feet, resting his head on your legs. You’d tried to send the dog out to run through the garden—knowing how the noise must be hurting his ears. But he’d remained stalwart, immovable. You let your fingers pet his wiry hair.

The hammering stops and footsteps approach. You lift your head.

“It shouldn’t give you problems now,” the man says, low and gruff.

You try to remember his name—Carter? Curtis? Cory? Lloyd did introduce you when he arrived, but there’s nothing now. Unable to make the name materialize in your head, you simply say, “thank you.”

I have written exactly one “crack” fic before. I wrote it in high school with my best friend about the Jonas Brothers and the main character’s name was Chicken Wing. I still have the handwritten first draft. (does this count as personal lore?)

Here's two-

Geralt and Jaskier are so in love with each other, even platonically. They don't want to admit it, but they have a really warm and cozy love bubble around them and both are afraid that if they speak about it, it'll make them feel less giddy and elated and pull this bubble into reality, making it vulnerable to being popped by evil forces.

Jace's nonchalant attitude re: the people he bangs and his unflinching love for Alec always made me think he is an in denial asexual - he is obviously not sex-repulsed but he wields sex like a weapon or like a quick fix to avoid looking at deeper emotions affecting him. I fucking love Jace to death, he gets so little credit.

The only way around it is through it. It helps to do various other creative things, it will recharge your creativity in the realm you feel it's low in. Like if you have writer's block, make some art. Draw some shit, splash some colours, bake and decorate a birthday cake, go outside and photograph some flowers.

  🏜️ ⇢ what's your favourite type of comment to receive on your work? When someone picks their favourite parts of the chapter or fic, and details their thoughts on it for my enjoyment.

🥝 ⇢ do you lie a lot? what's the most recent lie you told? God I used to lie more often than I breathed when I was a kid and a teen. Lately I just lie to get out of having to socialise.

I find stanning a K-Pop group to be 20% fun and 80% disheartening if you're older because you definitely feel like you can't sit with the cool kids and everything is just a really good, hi-def illusion set up to make you bust your wallet wide open, so every moment of genuine relatability and connection is invalidated by the feeling that these people are part of a marketing strategy. It's kind of like going to see strippers and even if you like one, you know that even if you fell in love with them, you're not allowed to get to know them because for them it's just work and you are only worth the cash you pay in their eyes. The closeness is an illusion that leaves you feeling even lonelier and sadder than you were before.

🦴 ⇢ is there a piece of media that inspires your writing?  There are a lot of them but my core reference is Anne Rice's writing. Now I am writing something that was inspired by the portrayal of Jack Reacher in the "Reacher" series on Amazon.

🍅 ⇢ give yourself some constructive criticism on your own writing It would be nice if I could write stuff that's relatable to others, not just to me. But that would mean biiiiiiiig consciousness shift and I'm extremely pussilanimous when it comes to this.

🐚 ⇢ do you like or dislike surprises? I think the delivery matters a lot - a surprise is being told something that you don't know yet, and if the person breaking the news makes it seem like a heart attack from shock is the adequate response, then better don't tell me, just show me.

Hyunjin had made himself comfortable on his bed, with his legs propped up on the headboard, leaving just his shirt and his socks on. He intended to drag it out as much as he could and get the most out of those pics.

Magazine in one hand, dick in the other - that’s how Changbin had found him, walking in to ask a very pressing question. (65 words bc just the 50 didn't make sense alone.)

This is so surreal - Chan is a human with two sets of ears and the rest of the members are tiny wee animals - and the love, goofiness and fun are so well captured. This artist also depicts Chan as shy and cute, and I prefer this to the hard dom or arrogant inaccessible guy takes I see more often. Like I get it's appealing to others but I like a squeaky, shy guy better than any alpha dude character.

poor characterization on a macro level

crass and goofy consistent misspelling like "nobbing" instead of "nodding", "viscous" instead of "vicious", "colon" instead of "cologne"

offputting descriptions like "chubby little cock" or "fat mushroom" (used for dick tips). I would lose my erection if someone talked to me like that irl

There are a lot of times when Kate catches Jack checking her out while they're together. He tries to be subtle. Fails miserably. But she calls him out about it less as their relationship progresses. She goes from finding it funny to finding it endearing because after all that time, he still can't help but drool over her and she thinks it's cute. So she makes sure to take a little longer to strap on her shoes or pick up Aaron's toys or rummage the fridge if she feels his eyes on her, because he loves her, even in domesticity.

mickey goes to a boxing gym on the westside. ian signs him up for it after mickey tries a few other classes with him (pilates, yoga, etc) and he absolutely hates all of them. mickey didn’t even want to do the boxing, but ian said he had to go to one class and then he could never go again, and mickey ended up actually liking it. he goes once a week on saturdays and spends most of the morning in the gym. he even makes a friend or two

a: The first one that comes to mind is when I looked up the astronomical positions of the constellations and heavenly bodies in new york in december to make sure that my Percy Jackson OCs could be looking at the correct planets and constellations while stargazing

a: A list of all the books I need to get to fully complete my collection of Rick Riordan books. Including graphic novels, it's well over 30 ;-;

Well, assuming there are no ships, themes or tags that would keep me from even clicking the fic in the first place: too little use of paragraphs. If I open a fic and I'm met with walls of text, my brain goes 'Nope' and I exit the fic immediately. My brain cannot compute big walls of text in fics.

@f1writingbyme is a given because the chances of me having updated her live on the entire process are high. Also @il-predestinato because I have a feeling she would be excellent at helping with the clean-up and figuring out a way to get me out of it. @fueledbyremembering for moral support and assurances that I wouldn't go to jail.

I was in 4th grade and my friends and I really wanted to date the Backstreet Boys. We discovered fanfiction was the most fun way to do it. We would write our lil’ self-insert love stories in notebooks that we would pass around and share.

Pumped Up Pop. I’m a 90s kid and Pop runs deep in me. 

🔪 ⇢ what's the weirdest topic you researched for a writing project?

I don’t think anything can be considered weird for a writer doing research anymore. But one thing I remember working extra hard on was researching how to pilot a jet for a Marvel action fic. That’s why I admire and commiserate with @scyllas-revenge for her helicopter piloting scene in BLCI. 

🐇 ⇢ do you prefer writing original characters, reader inserts, or a mix of both? 

Mix of both. Reader Inserts to make others happy, OC fics to make myself happy.

I would write an entire essay explaining this one, but in the SotWK AU, Elvenking Thranduil and Elvenqueen Maereth are metaphorical avatars for the Valar couple Oromë and Vána, and were destined to be such (as they were destined for each other). The qualities they each possess which make them similar to these Valar--Thranduil's strength and skill as a protector/warrior and Maereth's gifts for nurturing and fertility--are what safeguard and sustain Eryn Galen for thousands of years, holding their people fast even against Sauron.

@talesfuzzy is constantly on my notifs since she likes so many of my posts on a daily basis. She also reblogs some of the best Tolkien content, which I often put into my own queue. We don't really talk, but she's like that friendly person you see on your daily commute whose name you might not know but you smile and nod to each other till they've become a comfortingly reliable part of daily life.

❄️ ⇢ what's your dream theme/plot for a fic, and who would write it best?

I would LOVE a thrilling action fic where Thranduil and all five Thranduilion Princes march into battle at the same time and completely crush the enemy because there is possibly no greater or more fearsome fighting team left in Middle-earth. However, such a plot would violate my own AU’s headcanon, because in Thranduil’s family, there is a hard rule that the Thranduilions can never all be fighting in the same battle at once; Thranduil simply refuses to risk his family that way. 

I would hire/nominate/beg @ass-deep-in-demons to write it. If you’ve read her fic, “Under Our Darkening Skies”, you’ll know she’s the top pick for incredible and cinematic battle scenes. 

🍅 ⇢ give yourself some constructive criticism on your own writing

I find myself reusing a lot of the same lines and expressions, especially when describing character emotions and actions. Sometimes I feel my writing is pedestrian and boring, especially compared to many other writers in the Tolkien fandom who have such eloquent, sophisticated styles and brilliant, creative word choices. I'm quite soppy and sentimental too, but that's just my thing.

Sadly, I have not had a pet since my early 20s. I had plenty of them growing up, though, including my beloved yellow Lab. Once my kids are old enough to share in pet care duties, we are definitely getting a dog.

Talk to me about my Thranduilion Princes, pretty please! (There are many easy ways to be Moots with me, but this is a guarantee and the fastest way!)

I am lucky and grateful to have a solid band of supporters, but I want to grab this chance to send a special shout out to @achromaticerebus. She has been a big supporter of my Thranduilion Princes since she discovered them early on, she comments on ALL my Thranduil/Thranduilion stories, she gushes about them to me and with me, and her enthusiasm just keeps me motivated. She is not herself a writer, and it's so rare to find a friend so willing to just be a reader and supporter, when there's really no way to “pay back” her kindness.

🏜️ ⇢ what's your favourite type of comment to receive on your work?

Point out even just one specific detail or line of dialogue and tell me how it made you feel, your thoughts about it, or even ask a follow up question! I am most impressed when a Reader points out an Easter egg or interesting tidbit/headcanon/lore I included. I am over the moon when their comments show they are familiar with my other fics or my SotWK AU as a whole… it means they've really invested in my stuff.

🐚 ⇢ do you like or dislike surprises?

I enjoy being wholly surprised (good surprises, of course), but I don't like being told “a surprise is coming” and having to then think about it or stress out until its arrival. 

📚 ⇢ what's the last thing you wrote down in your notes app? 

A work-related reminder, which is boring. So I'm gonna answer this question by sharing something I wrote in my “Scratch Dump” document that I use for my headcanon drafting: Inscribed on the blade of the sword was Mirion’s personal oath to his people, written in Silvan: “Until my last breath, I will serve.”

It’s probably because I’m fairly new to it (and because I enjoy the song/video), but the concept of internet friends Rickrolling each other as a prank seems so funny and wholesome to me.

🕯️ ⇢ on a scale from 1 to 10, how much do you enjoy editing? why is that?

Honestly depends on the fic? I try to wait a few days after finishing a draft to edit and I don't have much trouble with it usually. On a bad day, I'd say 3. A good day, 7. It's more of a nuisance than anything else.

🥤 ⇢ recommend an author or fanfic you love

I'm going to recommend a few because I want to hold up some of these people and their beautiful writing.

@lemonsrosesandlavender's Planar Tears, a wonderful fic with Rolan and Catrin, who is not a Tav but some poor woman from another plane of existence that he stupidly pulled into his plane. I LOVE this fic with everything I have.

@dustdeepsea's Benediction which is the fic that convinced me that Zevlor was a worthy NPC for a Tav romance. It's beautiful, sexy, perfect.

@my-favourite-zhent's New Tricks, a fic about pre-game Rugan during his time with the Zhentarim, and Izzy, a woman who is a menace that Rugan can't help but go crazy over. I love them, your honor.

And finally @tickitytockityrattityrottity's amazing Three/Four, a Lakrissa/Alfira centered fic about their time post game, dealing with what Durge did to Alfira and her dreams of opening a bard school. It's dark in ways but still a wonderful fic.

Music is a great way for me to decompress. Throw some music on, sing, dance, whatever you need to do, imagine you're throwing a concert etc it's sooo fun and therapeutic

Here's one, but since I'm also a Jilypad gal, I headcanon that when they were hanging out just the three of them, James and Sirius would be super teasing/bantery, and Lily would constantly gang up with the one to tease the other - but there would be none of that around other people or during their very intimate moments.

Here's Peter Pettigrew, and you also get Petunia, who I hate for how she treated Harry, but:

I’m not someone who listens to a lot of playlists by other people. I sorta build my own little private hoards of music and listen to those ad naseum (like right now I’ve been listening to my ‘yearning’ playlist which is just a bunch of broadway ‘i want’ and similar songs).

But there were several songs on this playlist I enjoyed and added to my own playlist.

Was it the 18th century dog kennels? Or the history of zippers and balloons in the early 20th century? Or the traditions of medieval weddings when it came to cake and celebration? Perhaps my research into hysteria and lobotomies? Or the process and experience of electrical branding?

Those are the ones that come first to mind. I don’t know if I’m a good judge of weird or not, though.

Too much. This might get heavy, fair warning.

In concerns to writing, I’ve been wondering whether it’s worth it to continue to post fanfiction (especially on Tumblr, but just in general). With engagement being so low and AI stealing, it seems like such a waste of time and effort. I mean, I like sharing, but there’s always that thought in the back of my head that says no one cares. Or that I’m used up and obsolete. Especially lately. I post, I get three or four reblogs with comments (from mostly the same people, who I love 💜), and the rest are likes. On AO3, I wake up most days to a kudos email, but comment emails are so rare and usually only within the first day of posting. I’m just so tired. And I can’t tell if it’s making me happy to write anymore or if I’m just telling myself it is. Most days I feel like I’m writing for an audience of air, screaming into the void with no echo. Waiting and hoping for just the smallest indication that there’s a community out in the ether eagerly awaiting me.

Same as the previous answer, I can’t think of a character I hate! I mean, I could name Aegon ii from HOTD because I’m not his biggest fan— but I wouldn’t know what good three things I can name about him... 😅

🥤 ⇢ recommend an author or fanfic you love

Oof! This is tough and I'm sure I'm going to leave many talented people out bc I can never remember their Tumblr url even though I'm their avid reader on ao3 (I'm sorry!)

🐇 ⇢ do you prefer writing original characters, reader inserts, or a mix of both? 

Original characters, for sure. I'm not fond of reader inserts, nothing against who write/read them, but it's not for me because they feel a bit gaslighting. The few occasions I dare to read them I always say "I wouldn't f*ing say/do that!", and I feel I have no right to force the reader to feel/say/do things they normally wouldn't. I know it's fiction, but I cannot connect with reader inserts, neither in reading nor writing.

But unlike insert readers, the possibilities with original characters is infinite and there's no one that can say that the OC wouldn't react this or that way except me! (When I'm writing them ofc) And I accept whatever the OC's reaction is when I'm reading it bc it is what it is. I have no base to refute it.

🍄 ⇢ share a head canon for one of your favourite ships or pairings

Kalluzeb when they get hurt: two sides of the same coin

Zeb goes berserk when Kallus is in danger. Any imperial in a mile radius of them will have a gruesome demise. It's a little scary to witness. But later, he calms down once they're safe and patches Kallus up with utmost care. Kallus gets often hurt, so Zeb is an expert by now.

On the other hand, if it Zeb who gets hurt during a mission, Kallus keeps his head cold and do what he needs to do to get Zeb out of there. He's methodical and pragmatic about it. But once they're safe, Kallus crumbles. He can't deal with Zeb hurt. It messes with his head.

🌿 ⇢ give some advice on writer's block and low creativity

I struggle with this myself, but sometimes I do things that help me

Take a break from writing (sometimes even a short break is enough, sometimes you need days or weeks. It's okay)

But during the before mentioned break (especially the long ones) you can do other things, get out of your comfort zone. Read something (your favorite book or something new), watch tv shows/movies in a different genre/fandom you're writing for. Do another type of art, listen to music, etc.

Brainstorm with someone else (or several others). This is VERY IMPORTANT. Sometimes what we need to get unstuck is voicing the problem. I'd say that 7 out of 10 times, you'll find the solution by yourself while explaining the other person. If not, then your friend(s) will give you one, or at least, spark your imagination by telling you the detail you were missing.

Remember that even just a sentence written is progress.

And, even if it's often discouraged by many writing advice lists, edit that last portion of what you wrote and don't be afraid to discard what doesn't work (but don't delete it. You can save that for another story or later on in the same fic you're working on.). Doing this, you can make the story flow easily again.

honestly idk. to be completely honest, i almost exclusively read fanfiction by my friends or recommended to me by my friends
