New AU fic: The Fez, the Llama and the Pine Tree

Hello everyone! Presenting to everyone a new AU, with two chapters already up!

Chapter 1: An unwelcomed VIP

Stan Pines finds himself cash-strapped and defaulting on the mortgage, and so Preston Northwest comes forward with an offer: For Stan to take care of Pacifica Northwest for two weeks. It was already tough trying to raise his grandnephew Dipper Pines, much less take in a snotty brat, but did Stan have a choice? Little does Stan know, this choice will set off another chain of dominoes from a timeline already quite different from what we know.

Chapter 2: To catch a thieving magpie

As they search for Pacifica’s missing earrings, the children come face to face with the town’s strange and uncanny secrets.

Taking a break from my next-gen continuity, I decided to try a hand at an AU, an idea originally pitched by @detectivejigsawpines: “Stan, needing a little extra cash for the portal, reluctantly agrees to spend a day babysitting little Pacifica.”

I decided to combine that idea with the Reunion Falls AU… and perhaps build a bond between young Dipper and Pacifica here. Will there be eventual dipcifica? Well, the kids are too young here (only seven), but it’s definitely possible in the long run.

This story is more of a divergence of an AU by a writing friend – @theoryofweirdness One Day Reunited, which is his take on the Reunion Falls AU. So I took some details from that AU with his permission and consultation, like Stan’s explanation of why Dipper was raised in Gravity Falls.

I’m not exactly sure how to go from here, but we’ll see how far this concept will go. Some other ideas include Stan bringing her out that’s technically delinquent behavior, but is also "fun". And maybe some fun childhood adventures, through which Pacifica becomes a better person overall. Also, maybe, just maybe, Mabel would eventually enter the picture as Dipper and Pacifica discover the truth about the Pines family.

It’s funny when American authors come up with a new European nation so their main character can be a secret royal without the pain of researching a real nation. We should all start doing that with North America, just make up a new state. My protagonist lives in New Utahioshington which is the 51st state and located between Delaware and Maryland

Today's (potential) Lefty of the Day is Luke Skywalker from Star Wars,

Although he does typicall fight with his Saber and Blaster with his right. He does eat with his left (and according to IMDB is even seen throwing with his left at one point)

Also Mark Hamil who plays him is Left Handed so I feel like that should count for something.

it's so fucking frustrating to be in college and know everyone uses chatgpt and to be tempted by it constantly while also knowing intellectually that it doesn't work and it's a bad idea. like, i hang out in the library a lot, and i see people using chatgpt on assignments almost every day. and i know it isn't a good way to learn, because it's not really "artificial intelligence" so much as it is an auto text generator. and it gives you wrong information or badly worded sentences all the time. but every week i stare down assignments i don't want to do and i think man. if only i could type this prompt into a text generator and have it done in 10 minutes flat. and i know it wouldn't work. it wouldn't synthesize information from the text the way professors want, it wouldn't know how to answer questions, it just spits out vaguely related words for a couple paragraphs. but knowing my classmates get their work done in 10 minutes flat with it while i fight every ounce of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder in my body is infuriating.
