We decided to spend the week we had in California with family and friends in Los Angeles and San Francisco rather than rushing up the Pacific Coast Highway. If you were looking forward to that portion of this trip, we’re hoping to do it in the next couple of years when we can take our time and do it right–the whole route from Washington state to San Diego, CA. Thanks for coming along for the ride. Since US 101 took us from LA to San Francisco, we leave you with this pic where the 101 runs along the ocean until we can return to this blog with lots of pics along the PCH. Stay tuned…

A plaque stands at Ocean Ave and Santa Monica Blvd to mark the end of Route 66, but the best place to end your trip is at 66 to Cali, a small store/kiosk on the Santa Monica pier and the “End of the Trail” sign they installed nearby.

Oatman, AZ with its wild burros is like an old west movie set, except it’s real. The shootouts aren’t; those are staged for charity.
