you know like, we don't talk enough about jyn's insanity for cassian in jedha? when things got violent, she really went out of her way to protect him multiple!!! times!!!! when she could've let him die and then bolted for freedom

like, it wouldn't have even been her fault! she could've just tried a little less hard to watch his back and called it a good faith effort. she could've been off-moon or hidden deeply before k-2so, let alone anyone else, knew what had even happened. hell, she could've bussed him with saw's people, who were clearly itching to hurt him for killing one of theirs, instead of using saw's name to protect "me and my friends." like yeah cassian was focused on her beyond how it served him but that attention really went both ways

So, after last week's story, I had a very, very specific itch for an undercover Imperial Cassian and an alternate first meeting with Jyn. And after whining to Discord about not being able to find what I was looking for, I was rescued by @fulcrumstardust's suggestion to check out @andorerso's post.

Description:  Okay, so I literally just finished reading this, and I am still not okay. It was Everything. I. Needed.

This is an AU where Jyn (and her parents) have been captured, moved to Coruscant, and forced into cooperation. Jyn, of course, is having trouble adjusting and ends up being forced to marry Krennic's biographer, Willix. What follows is a wonderful rollercoaster of emotions, from hate and anger, to acceptance, and finally... well, you'll have to see for yourself.

I loved every single moment of this story, but I must admit I was particularly destroyed by the chapters written from Cassian's POV. Oh god, the angst. The self-loathing. The yearning. Ah. (I warned you I am still not okay).

No, but seriously. Everything. I. Needed.

i think my favorite thing non-writers say is along the lines of “well if you’re writing the story can’t you just make the characters do what you want?”

oh, my sweet summer child. you have the naivety of a newborn baby. i love your adorable ignorance. let me lay this out for you, friend:

i am no puppet master. i am merely the person who tippy-tappies on the keyboard and hopes that something legible comes out. the characters run the show and i am at best an exhausted stage manager trying desperately to get through tech week. no listens to me. i’m a documentarian hoping to nab a good shot, you know? just…Trying My Best while the characters set the scenery on fire even though i just told them we’ll need that in act three. they do not care. and i just have to roll with it. i have never once been in control of this circus.

it's insane because Mon is going to flee the Empire. we know this. things are going to get fucked enough that it's not safe for her to stay. but how on earth her husband and daughter fit into this we have no idea.

i assume she is going to work with the Chandrilan mob guy.

i mean i feel like, just based on assumptions, Lieda is definitely going to be at least initially into meeting this random cute boy and then after Mon has convinced herself it was just an introduction that's definitely not all it will stay. and i mean.... i imagine in order for her to give the speech she gives in Rebels (which is during season 3 so i think that's actually 3BBY) we'll see how all of that plays out next season on Andor, or more specifically what leads up to that. but i imagine things have to be completely fucked already. she knows she'll have to flee after that speech. so maybe things were already at that point and she had nothing to lose and everything to gain. she went out speaking the truth and becoming a 'traitor.'

I name the Emperor, himself, for ordering the brutal attacks on the people of Ghorman. Their peaceful world is one of countless systems helpless against his oppressive rule. and then she doesn't just disappear she gives a speech, from the Ghost, to bring together the Alliance to Restore the Republic

For too long I have watched the heavy hand of the Empire strangle our liberties, stifling our freedoms in the name of ensuring our safety. No longer! What is "KEEF"??

Was one of the writers just like "okay KEITH but my 2-year-old can't say Uncle Keith's name and it's ADORABLE"?? Or they just COULDN'T with Cassian's alias and they were staring into the fridge, wondering what to make for dinner, and they were like, "beef? I guess I could make beef. Shit, a roast is $20! ...beef...? Meef? Neef? Keef...? KEEF!!!!!!!!"

Bec can you imagine that POOR GIRL he hooks up with shouting "KEEF!!!" in the throes of passion? Say what you will about Cassian hookin' up, but I feel for those partners. AACH was bad enough -- it sounds like you're hacking up some post-nasal drip -- but KEEF is just...wtf, SW writers. Y'all need to just do what the rest of us do and keyboard smash your names.
