This is very interesting because none of the reasons why people like the prequels apply to me.

1). I don't have any nostalgia towards them because I am a fairly new fan.

2). I don't have anybody in my life that is even familiar with star wars.

3). I wasn't familiar with the memes or the hate these films received so I didn't have an innate sympathy or forgiveness many people do.

And l enjoyed episode 1, I didn't enjoy episode 2 and somehow I was crying halfway through revenge of the sith without watching any other media.

Then my mom watched them too and she became a fan because of the prequels.

And now I am probably one of those fans whose interpretation of those films can be wierd. So it's hard for me to except that those are the only reasons people like prequels. Cause that's definitely why i like them.

For me it has been as much of an authentic experience as there can be.

I think Tumblr’s understanding of the Star Wars prequels is possibly the starkest illustration I’ve ever seen of the distinction between “this is a narrative which can be constructed from elements that are present in the text” and “this is a narrative which the text in fact presents”. It’s like the “describe your favourite film badly” meme in reverse: the account we’re offering contains 100% of the same pieces as the films and 0% of the same substance.

Like, there’s nothing wrong with straddling that line – it’s a vital part of transformative media – but I think a lot of folks who’ve decided to actually watch the films based on how they’ve seen them described on this site are going to have Words for us when they’re done.

For people saying that you should like Luke's arc in the Last Jedi just because you liked Obi Wan's arc in Kenobi are completely missing the point.🤔

1. First of all both of them are very different characters thought they may appear similar.👍😑🙃🙃

2. And secondly we Expected Kenobi to be about a broken man recovering and coming to terms with himself, when with Luke's arc people expected the complete opposite.😶😶

3. With Obi wan we know what happened,we sympathize with him 🥺😔,we have seen him go through hell so🧐...when a jedi as pure as Obi wan is in perils we believe it...😔😎 because we have been through the same journey with the character.

4. With Luke it's a completely different feeling.We don't know what happened,we haven't seen this "symbol of hope" man being broken to the point of being a cynic.🤷‍♀️🙃 And even Obi wan was never cynical towards life in general even at his lowest. So if someone like obi wan 😶after all of his hardships hasn't fallen that low it's hard to believe someone like Luke could have.😬😬

5. It's not about if a character COULD change that drastically,most don't have that as a problem. It's a great concept. It's about how it happens.🙂

We are shown the reason for Obi wan's fall gradually through 3 films and clone wars.🤔🤠 Where in Luke's case we are given a short flashback that in on itself is confusing.🤷‍♀️😔

6. Another thing, Luke's failure in kylo is very much his failure or it seems like it from the brief info we have. Wherein in Obi wan's case it's not really his fault as much as it is everything else.😶😦🥺

7. We haven't had any kind of relationship building between Luke and Kylo,but between Vader and Obi wan we have numerous media on their relationship.

So when Luke says he's sorry, it's about Luke and his unclear failure in this trilogy's villain rather than his heartfelt sympathy for his nephew who slipped through his fingers despite everything.😔☹️

8. But when Obi wan says he's sorry it's about both of these characters and their broken bond which was not really (important:not really) through either of their own fault.

And we feel the weight of that perticular moment and could interpret it in numerous ways. 😊🤟🙃🤔🤔

So if you liked both arcs that's great 👍😁,if you didn't like either of them that's okay too.🤠😎🙃

But saying that you should like the other just because you liked one is totally based on personal opinion.😊😎👍

I really have only one thing that's bugging me about the Obi wan Kenobi finale 🤔😔

Why didn't obi wan kill Darth Vader??🙃

Now ,I get why these characters need to live but there is no specific reason provided in the series more than Obi wan well....just not being able to do it.

So I think I like this solution better cause there are no added scenes or anything 🤠

Just different editing ☺️

What if... the Reva thing is going down at the same time and obi wan is thinking about killing him.🥺😲 Probably going to do it,but he gets the disturbance in the force about Luke right then that he gets after getting in his ship . After that Obi wan would have to make a decision 🤔😬,because for him both of the death could happen and it depends on his decision, but he finally decides to leave Vader after beating him to save Anakin's son.

Why this is a good idea??🙃🙃

1. It requires no additional scenes.😇

2. It would make that second meeting between Vader and Obi wan so much more poetic... and we know how much star wars loves poetry 🙃☺️

3. The Reva side story would actually matter for the main story line.🤷‍♀️😔

4. It could be a great example for one of star wars's better quote that wasn't executed properly...

"Saving what we love, not fighting what we hate"

Ughh,,, it just feels like a lost opportunity 🤯👍😭

Hopes and fears for the next episode...

1.Man, they have so much to tie up that episode better be an hour....😑😑🤨😇😇

2.hope Vader doesn't at all find out about Luke 😲🙃 cause Luke was always very naturally sensitive with the force unlike Leia's unique connection to it.

3. How are they gonna pull of another obikin duel and Reva on tatooine without both of them being there...😲😬

I hope Vader doesn't come to tatooine dude . that's all.😰

4.And Leia getting a proper goodbye,😘🥺🥺,,but still right now they are stuck in a ship very near to Vader..soo🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

5.this is just me hoping but another flashback??🤷‍♀️😲🤯🤯

6.Qui-gon you better come out some time soon..man, you haven't been teasing him for nothing right?? Right??

7.how obi wan and Vader are going to part finally, one of them severely injured🤷‍♀️ or Obi wan faking his death🤔 or just not meeting again at all🙃...fine with every one of them as long as it fits the story and the characters..🙂🙂

I really liked this episode and it got my hopes up for the next one too...👍👍👏👏🎉🎉

Oh my God this episode was so good,loved it.

Now,

1.heyden as Anakin flashbacks😁😁 thank God finally...i loved how the flashbacks weren't normal flashbacks they mirrored the present day characters and situation and were woven into the whole episode.

2.both fights were great...man!! Can both these actors move after 20 years.. respect 😲😲..

3.i do love how many 'plot holes' were sealed in this episode very naturally... that's why I think this series would have benefited from having been a binge series.🤔🤔

4.Vader being badass, powerful and petty 😌😌 and Anakin being cute, terrifying and petty😘😘... that's all great and very much what I wanted 😎😎

5. I think now, General Kenobi in Greivaus's voice "the negotiator"😏😏 is back but obi wan Kenobi the jedi master isn't yet...🤟🤟🙃

All in all i really dug this one.

3.I really don't have much hope now...but please Anakin Obi wan flashbacks??!! Heyden is right there...we have seen soooo little of him.. like come on you marketed him soo much..ughh

4. I hope an epic showdown between obiwan and Vader/Anakin ..not Ben ,Obi wan .That would make all the meh.. things in this show worth it.I do hope they pull it off without creating thousands of new questions...

I have to say, it's really sad how some people are giving obi wan Kenobi such bad reviews and harsh criticisms that are not that big of a problem after everything this fandom has been through..

Is it perfect? No.. is it the worst star wars content? No...is it focasing too much in the message? I really don't think so... and is it ruining legacy characters? Definitely not...

Vivian as Leia is absolutely amazing ☺️🥰

obi wan is clearly having an satisfying arc that makes sense 🤔😎

And Reva is not as bad as people keep saying alright 🙄👍

And heyden Christensen as Darth Vader in THIS TIME PERIOD is great 👍😁😎
