"Yes", it's a black film, but black like the romanticism of adolescence, at the same time tormented, feverish and tortured by too much life. It's a period that can hardly be treated as a light and cheerful way.

A terrible artificial virus escapes from an American laboratory. Quickly nicknamed “super-flu”, its mortality rate is 99.4% , 47 million people have died across the world. The world collapses within weeks, despite the military's attempts to contain the evil. The remaining 0.6% are lost in a post-apocalyptic world. Isolated, they try to find other survivors. They are all haunted by strange dreams. Some are attracted to Randall Flagg, the incarnation of evil, others to Mother Abigail, a centenarian who symbolizes good, God.

The two groups join together. Randall Flagg's disciples occupy Las Vegas, while Mother Abigail's community settles in Boulder, Colorado.

The two groups distrust each other and try to destabilize each other. On each side, certain members are tempted to betray their community.

Very talented actors : Gary Sinise in the lead, Rob Lowe, Corin Nemec and Miguel Ferrer... A perfect achievement with the Fight of Good against Evil.

A masterpiece !

In the 25th century, in an underground city that resembles a human termite mound where everyone is identified by a code of 3 letters and 4 numbers, THX 1138 is a completely ordinary technician working on an assembly line of robot policemen. One day, however, he commits an irreparable act : he and his partner LUH 3147 make love in a society that formally prohibits it. For THX 1138, prison now awaits him...

In a handful of images, in a few sentences, everything is there. Overconsumption has become obligatory, bathroom cabinets have become entire pharmacopoeias, the environment is entirely functional, no bright colors, no originality, to the point of finding oneself bald so as not to stand out. Even religion which has completely dehumanized itself, become a machine (in the literal sense) to comfort men in their poor existence. A chilling and disturbing universe where the originals are interned. So yes, it's a predictable anticipation, but it's done in such a minimalist and cold way that THX 1138 is a model of its kind...

Two businessmen, Peter Martin and John Blane, chose to spend a few days in the old Wild West. Despite all the precautions and safety measures taken in this hyper-realistic amusement park, their stay is not going to go exactly as they hoped : little by little, the control center loses all power over the machines...

A masterpiece !

One of the best science fiction films. A very intelligent feature film and ahead of its time. Yul Brunner plays a deranged robot cowboy. Michael Crichton is a visionary director !

Furthermore, his mother's death changed him profoundly, bringing a buried psychosis to the surface. So, methodically, he prepares his revenge. He first kidnaps a young woman and sets her on fire. This is just the beginning...

Donald "Donny" Kohler is a real psychopath, the fault of his mother who burned the forearms of her little wanker to consume the evil that was in him ! The poor man never recovered and when one of his colleagues was badly burned in a workplace accident, something clicked. But it is the death of his mother that will truly set the fire : freed from parental oppression, the poor man will finally be able to free everything his hatred and resentment towards women, the only representative of whom he knew was his mother. The first victim will be a pretty florist, then a broken down motorist. What surprises at first is the ease with which he manages to convince and bring the young girls home : The florist is an obvious example because without any physical or verbal violence, the killer manages to attract him. The boutique where she works at home, great art ! This sequence lasts several minutes, which allows the viewer to sympathize with the poor women's who will suffer the ultimate punishment in a particularly spectacular and unbearable sequence... The result is so extreme for the viewer that the other executions will be filmed off camera. And we will have to wait until the finale to find such frenzy again.

Two identical twins, Beverly and Elliot Mantle, renowned gynecologists, share the same apartment, the same clinic, the same ideas and the same women. One day, a famous actress came to consult them for sterility. The two brothers fall in love with her but if for Elliot she remains a woman among many others, for Beverly she becomes the woman. For the first time the Mantle brothers will think, feel and act differently...

A story of twins (almost Siamese) where Jeremy Irons delivers a breathtaking acting performance alongside Geneviève Bujold, who is always so comfortable when she crosses the Atlantic. Once again in Cronenberg's journey, the human being is caught in his raw corporeality, alone palpable reality accessible to “scientific” understanding. Everything else, that is to say emotions, pain, pleasure, feelings are a priori neglected by the cynical double, the one who speaks in public and comes to reap the fruits of the other's work... The problem is thatthe other, the sensitive one (the crazy one ?), does not understand it that way and the beautiful, mechanical one "sharpened since childhood" complementary and perfect twins in a double entity will irremediably seize up when love arises, until the inevitable "final solution". Professor Cronenberg's lesson in humanity had perhaps never been so irritating... or so right...
