lemon drop cardi
Tumblr media
im not the best at taking photos, but i finished the pattern for the lemon drop cardigan! its comprised of lemon peel stitches, with an oversized dropped shoulder. its totally customizable if you understand how to size your own garments, and if not, then it works great as an oversized cardigan! i hope you enjoy!!

I don’t judge the trees for their discoloration, or the way they lean one way a bit too far. I don’t hang on to how it has two extra branches compared to the average, or that its leaves have begun to fall. I do not blame it for the passage of time, or for the way it had to grow to be able to fit into the earth. I do not blame the tree for not looking the exact same as the one next to it.
It’s but a tree, and I am but a human.
Nothing more, nothing less.
just another tree in a forest

open when you miss me, write back when you read me.
“you know, as i’m writing this, you actually sit not even five feet from me. you look beautiful tonight, and while its crazy, I stare at you in the same way I think a student states at paintings in art museums. You’re home for not much longer, this I know. So I study you as if you are acedamia. I long for you as i do a good slow dance, and i stare at you as if you will disappear at any second. You will.
But, this is not a paper of melancholy. You miss me, no? Of course you do, i would miss someone as extravagant, lovable, gorgeous, and unforgettable as me as well. Fairly, I would miss you too. Im sure at the time of you reading this, I do. I have. I will. Just the same as you. Im sure I miss your smile, your hair, your skin. I’ll miss the way you never miss to groan when a good song comes on the radio and you see me stand and know you must stand also, take my hand, and twirl me around the kitchen. i know you love it. i know you’re miss it. i miss you.
i want you more than i could ever want anything, and you have not even left me yet. i rue the day you do.”
- excerpts from a story i have yet to tell

list of mundane things that feel like ancient human rituals
cleaning or wipe your bare feet
breaking off a piece of bread and handing it to someone
putting the weight of a basket on your hip or head
eating nuts or berries while hunched over close to the ground
seeing something startling just out of your line of sight and very quickly stepping or leaping on to a larger object to get a better view
cupping your hands into running water to wash your face
the unanimous protection of a baby or child in a public space where women are present
when an elderly woman laughs and grips your forearm tightly

Do y'all know what I love thinking about? I love thinking about how diverse witchcraft is. I mean, pretty much every single culture has their own beliefs in different things. It's incredible really. And what else is really cool is that a lot of them have the exact same intent, executed by vastly different practices. For example, cleansing your space has always been a huge deal! Smoke cleansing, sound cleansing, salt cleansing, smudging, incense, prayer, meditation - and I think it's really important!
Like, let's be honest. When we first got into witchcraft, when we first started researching Paganism or Wicca or whatever title you call it, especially within the last 5 to 10 years, we've been kind of bombarded with a lot of the same messages especially in the United States. A lot of us kind of fell into the gimmick that all witchcraft was universal, when a lot of things aren't even heard of in other places.
Historical witchcraft is something that doesn't really come up on the first page of Google. It's something we can't just search up in the library all the time or ask others about. Unfortunately, paganism and witchcraft have been kind of mainstreamed into the one stereotype, And I think that's really unfortunate because there are hundreds of cultures that can share such incredible knowledge with us, but we've been too blinded by the occasional informative tumblr post And even more unfortunately, mainstream media.
So I think we should share something. All of us, especially those who may be practicing magics or witchcraft that isn't often not seen in mainstream Tumblr or media, and even MORE especially those who are part of vastly different cultural practices.
I'll go first. When I was living abroad, I had an elderly nanny teach me something I still use to this day. I wish I could tell you exactly where it was, but I moved every three to four months as a child and I was only four or five. I CAN tell you it was somewhere in Eastern Asia so if you recognize this, please let me know! My nanny taught me to fully saturate water with sea salt, toss in a handful of whole peppercorns, leave it overnight, and sprinkle the water across my doorstep/windowsill to protect my home from negative influences entering whenever I opened them. To this day this is still a practice I hold very close to my heart because she was the one who taught me a lot of my life skills. How to crack and egg, how to use chopsticks, so on and so forth.
Share with me the things you do because it was passed down!
