hi,
My cousin and i have been wondering what it’d take to get funding for an all girls and young women tech teach non-profit organisation in rural western uganda (EastAfrica).
we’ve have been wondering how to go about it without missing a step and ensuring that what we are doing, is the right thing for the girls and the community. We would like to provide these girls with a real future
My cousin has been to western uganda and she has seen and experienced how these girls and young women live in poverty, barely have shoes to go to the public school, can’t afford basic medication for diseases like malaria, typhoid, usually drop out from school due to teen pregnancies and become very young mothers, are worked tirelessly at home , since mothers and girls are the workers in these homesteads, which means very little time for them to concentrate on their education)
We want to teach these girls basic computing skills, how to use social media, how to code in different programming languages so that they can have the skills to create entrepreneurial opportunities in their own communities and or even go further to a good university to study and work for domestic or international tech firms.
Its a lot of work but like they say, Rome wasn’t built in a day. If there’s anyone interested in partnering with us or even donating to the cause, you’re really welcome and i hope that we can make a difference in the lives of these girls and young women.
