The night repeats, and you bring Bo with you. You sealed her lips with a kiss before you and everyone else at the party were pulled back in time.

“Yo, Valkyrie lips! What was that?”

She remembered, again standing by a table of assorted snacks, treats, and drinks. You aren’t alone in this loop anymore.

You hurry to her, duck as she calls for you. The first repeat, you were hit in the face with that stupid beach ball. Never again.

“What is going on?” Bo asks, her tone soft, gentle, despite the confusion painted on her face.

You sigh, turn and place your hand on her shoulder. Pointing to different groups of people at the party, you predict what is going to happen next. The guy with the growing rash calling the brunette the wrong name, twice, getting slapped in return.

Christie.

Carrie.

No, Jeanette.

The Sasquatch who probably ate a hundred kittens before coming to the party. She chugs down beer and releases a rush of air from her mouth. You’re sure the entire Clubhouse heard it. Maybe smelled it, too.

And just like you were, Bo is struck by the beach ball.

“I said ‘duck’.”

“How long have you been doing Groundhog Day ? And haven’t you tried telling anyone?”

You know that wouldn’t work, having tried to several repeats ago. But frustration boiling within you, you grab the collar of the guy with the rash anyway, snap in his face about the loop, some quantum paradox.

He laughs. “Yule fools.”

You pat his chest. “Good luck with that rash.” At the mention, you leave him speechless as he wanders off, scanning his arms. “No matter who I tell, I get the same reaction over and over. Nothing, until you and I kissed.”

A kiss that you somehow still feel on your lips. You caressed her face, thumbs doused in black nail polish tracing her cheeks. She kissed you back.

She kissed you back.

“What was that for?”

“Doesn’t matter.”

To you, it did. Does.

You and Bo shrug. What is there to lose? If Bo remembered when you kissed her the first time, joining you in this loop, what would happen if you kissed her again? Besides the fluttering in your chest when lips collide, missing it when it’s gone, over.

No, this isn’t so you can kiss Bo again.

This is for the sake of your sanity, you tell yourself. To get out of this fucking loop and move on with the rest of your night.

You’re not doing this to kiss Bo again. You’re not doing this to kiss Bo again. You’re not—

Bo’s lips meet yours, and you melt, your hands back on her face as you dive into the feeling, the rush, this gives you. The light pink plush that blesses your mouth, sweet and full. You’re dragged under. You don’t resurface. You don’t want to resurface. Instead, sitting at the bottom of the pool as the water embraces you. As Bo embraces you.

You can’t. You shouldn’t.

You let go, glance around the room for any changes.

Everything is still the same. But for you—

“Nada.”

“Speak for yourself.”
