When for an appointment in the morning and it ended early so I proceed to the nearby coffee shop to have my brunch at the Economy Rice (菜饭) stall. From the numerous dishes on display, I chose crispy prawn rolls (虾枣), chicken & black fungus and stewed potato slices to go with rice.
On the way to the MRT train, I spied on the gorgeous confections at Paris Baguette and couldn’t resist the temptation to not eat dessert. Gotten the Blueberry Yogurt Tart (S$9.50) which is topped with glazed blueberries and red chocolate pearls. The light purple yogurt mousse is tangy sweet with marbling of blueberry compote and the sponge cake gave it substance.

Lucy's Main Quest #5: Life is Good
For lunch, I have a hashbrown bread (the "HBB" @anas-bizarre-adventure) from Paris Baguette (I went to H-mart with Hanu yesterday). And a can of coldbrew that was 50 cents from Daily Table (also yesterday).
In front of me is the git repo for my UROP which is just so spaghetti, its crazy. They have a handful of us undergrads working on it, and the folders, there are just functions everywhere with magic numbers and strings, and the testing functions are in the same file as the main code, there are no classes being built for similar functions. It's just so terrible. To think, I would become the snobby coding elitist.
Also, on Sunday I ran into my friend in the WILG dining hall reading this book I had in my radar for years now. She said it was a fun book she was consuming it so fast, so I picked it up as soon as she was done, and OML I finished it in 24 hours it was a banger. The cover is the ugliest lowest quality thing I've seen, but the contents were so high quality.
So yeah, life is actually great right now. Hope y'all are doing well.

Paris Baguette in Hackensack, NJ.
Okay so the bread that looks like a pile of deliciousness pizza - NOT DELICIOUS AT ALL. It has a hash brown stuffed between a honey delicious coated bread and has mozzarella and ham. It sounded and looked good but let me tell you…..Took one bite and I spit that right back out. You could literally only taste and feel the cold, wet hash brown. Even heated up it tasted awful. We didn’t bother to even finish that one. We gave that a 1/10. Next, my husband and I tried a sugared cream cheese donut. Disappointing to bite into a hallow hole. Like umm where the heck is cream cheese?! All right, even though it didn’t have much cream cheese it still was pretty good. We rated this hole 3/10. Would have been higher had there actually been a bit more cream cheese. Next we tried a blueberry pastry which was excellent! Lots of cream! That’s how it should be! We rated that pastry an 8/10. Finally, we tried the croissant donut which had a lemon pudding between the entire croissant donut and a string of lemon frosting on top of the donut. Bonus though the coffee is ranked to be probably one of the best coffees out there(and that also comes from someone who does not like coffee whatsoever!) Husband loves the coffee and he says it’s probably is better than your local Starbucks! Beat that Starbucks! Some sugar to go on too and it was a stronger finish winner. We rated that sucka a 9.5/10. Overall average rating of all foods were 5.5 Experience of atmosphere and restaurant setting including service was 9/10. Very friendly. They did heat up nastiness which was the only thing that saved it from a zero.
Try out your local Paris Baguette! You probably won’t be disappointed!

Bread
The Cat bought from Paris Baguette (recently opened downtown).
Package
The Mouse kept it simple, toasted with butter.
Paris Baguette Multi Grain Toast
The Mouse is not sure if the bread is “French”, tasted more “Asian” bakery. Maybe it was the black sesame seeds. No matter, still yum.
The Mouse probably will not use as sandwich bread, kinda pricey.
Thanks to The Cat for the try try.

Paris Baguette, 708 W Las Tunas Dr, Unit B, San Gabriel, CA 91776
Paris Baguette at Westfield Santa Anita closed for good during the pandemic and that meant that there was no PB in San Gabriel Valley. Recently, they opened in a new space in San Gabriel. I remember the building that was there before (it was demolished).
The new location looks lovely and has plenty of seating. Grab a tray and choose from croissants, buns, mochi donuts, cronuts, egg tarts, croquettes, etc. They also have loaves of bread, roll cakes, cake slices, whole cakes, sandwiches, cheesecake, yogurt parfaits, chia pudding, drinks, made to order coffee and tea drinks, etc.
Pastel de nata ($2.99): Bland egg custard, not many flaky layers, didn’t like it
Mini garlic croissant 6 pieces ($5.19): Buttery, light croissants with a smear of extra strong garlic butter – a little too sweet though definitely delivered on garlic butter flavor
Sesame tapioca ball ($2.29): One of my favorites, still good – light and very chewy
Cream red bean brioche ($2.49)
Service was friendly. They offered free samples. Parking can be hard to find in the strip mall. Online ordering is available.
3.5 out of 5 stars.
