“To be whole. To be complete. Wilderness reminds us what it means to be humans, what we are connected to rather than what we are separate from.” -Terry Tempest Williams
What does wilderness remind you of?
Tumblr media
Does it connect you to memories of time spent alone in nature?
Perhaps wilderness reminds you of how small one can feel under a dark sky spilled with the stars of the milky way?
Tumblr media
Is wilderness your reminder of the connection we can feel to the land and strength of nature? ~ams

I feel like so often I read a particular line or paragraph in a fic and it hits me so hard that I have to sort of sit back for a moment and digest it, or it makes me laugh out loud because it’s so clever or funny.
I would love to see how many people have had those moments
How many of them are something we have in common
So if anybody wants to reblog this or just comment and add the specific line that made them go oh shit and The name of the fic or the fandom it’s from then I would love love love to see it!

Hi everyone, it’s been a while. Recently there was a problem in my friend group. Some one close to me was part of a house for Voudou. I have permission to share this. Voudou is a beautiful religion/faith. The spirits are to be respected and normally the teaching environment of a house can be a wonderful space to learn and grow. Anyway, my friend had a Papa which is a Houngan or Priest/spiritual leader in that house. He ended up assaulting her claiming it was perfectly ok because a, b and c. (That part i am not allowed to share) So my question, cut and dry without explaining anything I’m not supposed to speak of is this…how prevalent is sexual assault in Voudou houses? It is a very secretive faith, and i just want to know if anyone has any stories or knows someone this has happened to, thank you.

Talking about trauma - memories
TW: sexual harassment
The day in which the monster came out started with morning cuddles. And then, suddenly, there was sadness. My partner looked at me with such sad eyes: I am no good at this, he said. You are not yourself when we get intimate, it is my fault, he said.
That was the moment I realised the monster was hurting someone I loved. That was the moment I realised I needed to let the monster out, or else, I would have hurt my loved one forever.
There was a moment of silence, everything was still, but I could feel inside me that the monster was pushing and roaring, screaming I will break your little pathetic chest in which you kept me for 14 years, I can feel it creaking, breaking. You cannot stop me.
A tear came down my face. The monster broke the chest lock. You have nothing to do with it. A man – he is the problem. I was 11. He did something he should not have. He broke me. I cannot be myself in intimacy, because he decided I could not. I – that was more than I could share that day. I cried for a long time while my partner held me close.
___________________________________________
You know, you seem to be better now. Therapy helped, I think. You smile more, talk more, you are more energetic, you seem hopeful. I just do not understand something: why you still do not like yourself. My dad is sat across the pub table, to pints of beers between us. The monster is listening. I had managed to re-build the chest and squash the monster back in it. But I know it is always listening.
You see, I do not mind that you do not make yourself “beautiful”, but I do care about why you actively make yourself disappear. I know what my dad means: I do not know the last time I properly looked at myself in the mirror, the last time I took pleasure in dressing in a certain way, the last time, if fact, that I liked myself.
I wish I could understand, my dad says. It makes me sad to see that my beautiful daughter tries to hide from the world; it makes me sad because I can see you are uncomfortable.
I look at him, and his eyes are full of pain. I already seen that look. I am hurting yet again another loved one. The monster is happy, because it knows it will come out. Hurting a loved one makes my chest very fragile.
Silence. I know this silence. I know what is happening. This time it is more difficult, as my dad had been knowing me since I was born. My dad is closer to what happened. It makes it more real, in a way, than saying it out loud to someone who met you a year ago.
When the monster breaks the chest it is so painful I can only cry uncontrollably. My dad is alarmed – he thinks he made me cry. No, I scream in my head. You have not made me cry. The man did. But what comes out is gibberish. My dad hands me a napkin, his face worried.
I stare at the glass of beer, I cannot stand to see my dad’s face changing. Dad, I am sorry. I am sorry I could not say this before. Dad, I was 11. Something happened. Someone you know, he – he touched me. I thought it was a dream, but I know it is not. And that is why I am like this. I cannot enjoy, I do not want to enjoy being seen. I look up, and I see grief. I see tears. My dad never cries.
He asks me if I want to tell him who he is. I do. He covers his face with his hands. Put them on his knees then, and stands up, and tell me that he needs to get out of the pub for a bit before he can come back, hear the rest, and comfort me. I nod. He goes out.
The monster knows that this time I will not be able to build another chest anymore. The monster knows it is free.

hi everyone!
i haven’t posted on tumblr in a LONG TIME, and this is a long shot, but i’m in the process of applying for and receiving a match for a diabetic alert dog! to be put on the waiting list, they need a deposit of $3,000, so i started a spotfund (VERY similar to GoFundMe, but they don’t take out any fees when deposited into a bank account!) to raise enough money to make the deposit and be put on the waiting list to receive an official match with an alert dog.
so far $455 has been raised, and it’s SO exciting and surreal with how little the fundraiser has been live. please donate if you can, or repost/share, whichever you can do is SO greatly appreciated by me more than anything.
the donation page will have a little bit about me and the fundraiser, and if you have any questions, please feel free to reach out!
this means so much to me - and would not be possible without the shares and donations ❤️ thank you again!

🍽️ Want a simple yet effective way to control your portions and manage your weight? It's time to harness the power of smaller plates to trick your brain and eat less without feeling deprived. Let's dive in! 🥦🍽️✨
✨ When it comes to eating, our brains can be easily influenced by visual cues. By using smaller plates, you create an optical illusion that makes your portion appear larger. As a result, you feel more satisfied and content with a smaller amount of food. It's a sneaky trick to outsmart your brain! 🧠👀🍽️
✨ Research shows that people tend to consume more when using larger plates, as the empty space can subconsciously trigger the desire to fill it up. Switching to smaller plates automatically reduces the amount of food you serve yourself, helping you maintain a healthier portion size. It's a simple but effective strategy! 📚🍽️📉
✨ Additionally, smaller plates can help train your brain to be more mindful of portion sizes. When you see a full plate of food, even if it's a smaller portion, it can still create a sense of abundance and satisfaction. By practicing portion control with smaller plates, you develop a healthier relationship with food and eating. 🙏🍽️💚
✨ Remember, the goal is not to deprive yourself or restrict your food choices. It's about finding balance and enjoying your meals while managing portion sizes. So, give it a try and start using smaller plates during your meals. You might be surprised at how effective this simple change can be in supporting your health and weight management goals. 🌟🍽️💪
Are you ready to trick your brain and control your portions with smaller plates? Share your thoughts or experiences with portion control in the comments below. Let's inspire each other to make healthier choices and enjoy our meals to the fullest! 🍽️💚✨

Hiiiiiii!
I have created a website in hopes to spread mental health awareness along with providing a safe place for anyone struggling with mental health. The website is: https://www.thedarkpage.org/
The world can feel lonely when you’re in the dark with your own thoughts. The Dark Page is a place for writings carrying real emotions behind them with the options of reading and/or sending your story publicly or anonymously. Along with the provision of self care tips, meditation guides, crisis hotlines and personal writings, The Dark Page is a reminder that you are not alone.
This is my first time creating a website, if you have any tips for me please let me know!
Thank you ahead of time for checking it out:)
It is #MentalHealthAwarenessMonth , lets break the stigma.
