it always struck me as kind of hilarious that you have to pass a 30DC check to convince shadowheart not to kill dame aylin but if you're just like "sure do whatever lol" she chooses not to kill her anyway. tsundere ass fuck. killing is bad unless it's out of spite. i have morals unless you try to tell me what to do
but i just got to that scene in my new replay and it made me realize that that's not what's at stake at all
because the persuasion check isn't "don't do this". the persuasion check is, your life is whatever you make of it. you don't have to do something just because your goddess tells you to.
convincing shadowheart not to kill dame aylin is easy. she knows it's wrong, and she doesn't want to, not really. if given the choice, she is literally unable to go through with it even if she clearly wants to, or wants to want to so badly she can't tell the difference
the problem is convincing her she has an option in the first place
the problem is convincing her that her life is her own
shadowheart has never belonged to herself since she was captured. not in body, not in soul, not in mind, not even her memories. she quite literally doesn't know who she is in more ways than one. she doesn't know her past or her family, she doesn't know who her loved ones are (including the sharran loved ones, like nocturne), all she really knows about herself is a fear of wolves that's been implanted into her by lies and an attachment to a flower she can't remember the details of. and a mission. always a mission. the will of someone else she has to carry on, that is not for her to understand or question or think about. she can't even want to serve shar, because she isn't allowed to pursue her intention to become a dark justiciar. she is supposed to be well and truly nothing, empty as the sharran doctrine
(oh, and pain that she doesn't know the reason of. no matter what, she must bear the pain)
how can she see herself as more than her goddess, when she quite literally doesn't know anything about who she is other than her devotion to shar? how can she choose her own destiny, when she couldn't even choose how to devote and give herself over to her?
she can't, which is why, unless you have infinite rizz points and/or roll a nat20, shadowheart attacks you. not dame aylin. you. and she never argues about whether or not it's the right thing, because she knows. what she's rebelling against isn't the idea of letting dame aylin go. what she's rebelling against is the idea that she could leave her cage and belong to no one but herself. because the idea is scary and she quite literally doesn't know where to begin. which is why her obsession becomes to find her parents, even though she doesn't remember them at all. because maybe they can tell her who she's supposed to be, and she can have the comfort of having her path laid out before her again
(which is also why she has to kill them. not because of some hand hurty curse bullshit. but because she just wants them and selûne to become the new shar, and she has to let that go if she truly means to claim herself again)
and now im sad. because it's easier for shadowheart to do turn against shar and everything she's ever had on the grounds of saving someone else than on the grounds that she deserves better than to be a puppet. even if you do nothing, saving dame aylin, to her, is easy. saving herself is a wholly different matter, one she's not sure she has any right to, or wants to, even if it's what she really needs. accepting a selûnite's humanity is easier than accepting her own. losing everything is easier than gaining her own autonomy. and she will fight tooth and nail to be allowed to stay in her own, metaphorical soul cage

Hcs for Hashira men confessing!
Includes Tengen, Tomioka, Sanemi, Rengoku, Gyomei, and Muichiro
Warnings: Minor swearing! Minors MAY interact with this post, but hopefully only for Muichiro being as he is a minor <3 Reader is set as a female for these hcs!
Tumblr media
This man already has three wives...he's pretty dang experienced in romance.
You're a hashira at the same time he is, and he admires how you dress. Your hair is also quite "flashy" to him.
"Hey, Y/n...looking flamboyant today. Nice."
"Oh....thanks Tenge-"
"No problem!"
If you have long hair, there's a chance he might want to style it for you. He's not a braiding expert like Kanroji, but he has three wives, so he's gotta know some good stuff in that department, right?
He admires you from afar for a bit before wanting to go on missions with you and hang out.
He'll go to his wives for help, and when he says you could possibly become love interest number four, instead of being jealous, they're ecstatic because they like you too.
So they scheme up a plan .
While you're out on a mission, Hinatsuru takes a...rather large rock, shoving it out in front of you while you were chatting with Tengen.
You're clumsy here so you don't notice it.
You trip, about to hit the ground WHEN
Ninja man catches you HAHA! He thinks he's so flashy and brags about it after that. He confessed to you while holding you.
"Y/n...can I be real with you?"
"Sure, but can you put me down first?"
"I...love you, Y/n, and so do my wives."
Your heartbeat pulses fast, and you smile. "I love you guys too...now put me down."
"No."
Tumblr media
Giyu is stoic, quiet around the other pillars.
This doesn't change when you enter the scene...as his tsuguko. You're not much younger than him, maybe a year, tops.
While he does help you train, he keeps that same demeanor at the beginning of your mentorship.
He even has to get close to you to help you swing your sword at times, which for some damn reason...
It makes your heart beat fast??
No, there's no way you could-
Oh, yes there is.
After a few months or so of training with Tomioka, he seems to lighten up with you. He'll talk more frequently, asking you how your day was and what you were up to.
You'll definitely notice that he's warmer. But when out with the other hashira, his demeanor goes back to silence and staring.
You get curious, so you set him down and ask about it.
"Tomioka, what's been up with you? I mean, the changes aren't bad, but I wanna know why you've been acting so...social? Lately?"
He's blankly staring at you, looking at the floor, his haori, and then back at you.
"I thought you'd like it...if I talked more...because...I like you, I guess."
Hah. Awkward boi let's be honest.
Tumblr media
You're another hashira in this hc.
You're very bubbly and talkative, kind of like Mitsuri. Of course, in the beginning, Shinazugawa Sanemi finds this annoying.
He'll shoo you away with every chance he gets.
It's only when you stop by his estate with a plate of ohagi for his birthday that his opinion of you slowly begins to shift.
You're still annoying as fuck in his eyes...but maybe you were tolerable?
It would take a few days of him ignoring you for you to storm into his estate, grab him by the collar, and scream at him.
Jk jk he'd fucking kill you
You'd actually walk into his estate and demand to hear what's up with him.
He'd attempt shooing you of course, but you're not gonna take no for an answer, are ya?
Didn't think so.
That's when HE grabs YOU by the collar, shoves you against the wall, and tenderly presses a kiss to your lips. He couldn't find the words to confess to you, so he used his actions. And they worked, becaue you kissed back, caressing his white, fluffy hair softly.
Tumblr media
Rengoku would be straightforward with his feelings. He won't push you away, or ignore you, to figure out his heart because he's so in sync with his feelings that he doesn't need a second opinion or thought.
You'd be just another slayer, part of the kamaboko squad with Tanjiro and his pals, but you're the eldest, being around 19.
He'd invite you to have a picnic with him, classic, right?
You'd obviously be honored...I mean, a hashira invited you to eat with him!! What an honor!!
Not to mention he's a cutie
You meet up with him, it's around 12pm, he's there earliy, you're a little late.
"Ah! Y/n! Good morning!"
"...it's noon-"
"I know !! Good afternoon!!"
*Facepalms*
He would talk to you about your missions, what you've been up to, and one more question...
" I know we sincerely just formally met !! But you are gorgeous !! Would you like to be my girlfriend ?!"
You'd chuckle, covering your blushing face. Of course you're gonna say yes.
Tumblr media
We're gonna keep Himejima's short n' simple.
You are a hashira, and you first met him at a meeting with the master.
His strength impressed you, and your friendliness intrigued him.
You talked a lot, being as you were both quite strong and were only called on extremely high ranked missions.
You both fell in love and told each other you liked the other in his estate.
Also, a plus, hugs with him are ALWAYS comfy.
Tumblr media
You're a minor. And so is he, so it fits !
He's younger than you, but if he ever hears the word 'seniority' come out of your mouth, best expect a cold-hearted scolding.
He confesses through his crow to you. He can't bring himself to do it in person.
He won't admit it but he fell head over heels. He'll just say he loves you. You know how he feels, though <3
{ Sorry Mui's and Gyomei's were short </3 I got a lil lazy- }

What about an Older! Mechanic! Eddie x Reader who's the daughter of Eddie's best friend, (Steve, Gareth? Idk) but in the beginning they hated each other, like they didn't have anything in common, but after a night when reader was kinda drunk she just found Eddie and he helped her getting to her house, and reader says something like you're cute, but you're an asshole and some days after Eddie's still thinking about it, they end up finding each other again at some shop in the town, and they decide to get something to drink and they end up finding out that maybe, they really don't hate each other, and start flirting a lot! Eventually they became a couple and Reader's dad is like I knew you liked Eddie, but he's not mad bc his daughter's an adult
I love older! eddieeeeeeee. I always picture him with a beard and it's so hard not to constantly write about that detail of him. But I never know if Eddie girls, guys, and thems also like Eddie with a beard? Well anyway, I wrote this fic and loved it, then realized I slowly slipped away from some details of the plot you included. So I truly hope this fic is okay and you still absolutely love it. I hope it's what you wanted, even though some of it was changed. I just really liked the scenes I wrote and didn't have the heart to delete it. It felt too good to me. As always, thank you for requesting 🫶🏻
Cute, but an asshole
Tumblr media
Y/N couldn't stand when Eddie came over. She understood he was her dad's best friend, but he was rude, a single loser who slept around town and everyone was obsessed with him. Sure, he was attractive and charming, but she couldn't handle all her friends hoping he'd stop by.
Her friends loved it when Eddie was around. He'd sit and flirt with all of them, they'd flirt back and Y/N was left watching. Maybe there was a small hint of jealousy she felt, knowing her friends caught his eye but she hadn't.
Eddie did notice her, he noticed her in ways he never should have. Gareth moved away after high school, got married, and had a kid. Twenty-three years later, he came back and Eddie met Y/N. And he knew he was in big trouble when he noticed how gorgeous she was. The easiest way for him to keep a distance from her was to simply ignore her existence. He knew it worked when she began to glare and snarl whenever he was in the room. Then she started getting mean back and her smart mouth pissed off Eddie in many ways.
Then she got a boyfriend and Eddie swore he'd never been so jealous in his life.
"So, Randy what do you go to school for?" Gareth asked, slowly twirling his pasta as the table sat in silence. Y/N smiled towards Randy as encouragement, and he happily answered. The two stuck in a conversation as Eddie rolled his eyes.
Y/N noticed his rude behavior all night. Whenever Randy talked, he'd mock him, discredit him, and belittle him.
Randy kissed her goodbye at the door, her smile quick to come off when she turned to march towards Eddie. He sat at the table with a smirk and drank his beer. Gareth in the kitchen, cleaning the dishes, unaware of the heated tension in the dining room.
"What the fuck is your problem?" She snapped, her foot coming forward and kicking him in the shin.
He bit his lip as he groaned in pain. "You can't seriously like that guy." Eddie said, trying to hold back a laugh. "he's a total square."
"I do like him! And there's nothing wrong with being well-mannered." She sassed, her eyes giving Eddie a look over. A look to tell him that he was the exact opposite.
But Eddie was older, and he knew exactly how those young guys wound up. "trust me, honey. Those guys stick around to get in your pants, then he's on to the new thing. He's a rich spoiled kid, he'll get rid of you once you aren't a shiny pretty thing anymore." Eddie said, standing up as he mockingly patted her head.
She swore steam was coming out of her ears. She smacked his hand away and marched off to her room.
What did he know, he was in his late forties and single. He knew nothing about relationships.
~~~
But when Y/N walked into a bar on what was supposed to be a romantic night, she thought Eddie deserved more credit for his wisdom.
Tonight was meant to celebrate her and Randy's five-month anniversary, but he never showed. She felt like an idiot for liking the guy. Sure, she knew she didn't love him, but she liked him and he was a good distraction. In ways, he made her feel confident, beautiful, and special. Which was all taken away within hours. She called and called, no answer on his end as she sat at the restaurant.
She didn't want to believe Eddie was right, but he was. Y/N knew the second she finally had sex with Randy that she'd regret it. And here she was, not even two days later being ghosted. Instead of moping at the restaurant, she went where everyone drank away their problems.
That's when Eddie found her, completely drunk and flirting with the bartender.
Eddie was a regular at the bar, he didn't have much going on in his life and enjoyed the social drinking. But he didn't expect to see his best friend's daughter completely wasted and batting her eyelashes at the bartender. He gave in, of course, and Eddie couldn't judge him for it. If Y/N looked at him like that, he'd be a puddle at her feet.
"Alright, sweetheart. Think you've had enough." Eddie said as the bartender slid her another glass. She pouted and whined as Eddie slid the drink back over.
"Don't think so. Hand it over, Bobby." She slurred but Eddie interfered again.
"Stop! You're not like my dad or boyfriend. So fuck off." She spat, successfully getting the drink as she chugged it down.
"I'll fuck off after I get you home, safely." He said in a stern tone. Cash was slammed on the table and he was fast to grab her hand and began to pull her off the stool. When the room started to spin, she lowered her guard and let him take her home.
The car ride was dead silent, the air was uncomfortable and she wasn't sure if she needed to puke.
"I need air." She managed to get out as she gagged. Eddie was quick to pull over, helping her unbuckle her belt and then getting out of the car. She was surprised by how gentle and caring he was. The way he helped her out of the car and sat next to her on the curb.
The fresh air called her stomach and she took deep breaths. She knew the hangover tomorrow was going to be an ass to deal with.
"What are you helping me?" She asked, her eyes closed as she concentrated on not puking.
"Because I'm not a terrible person." Eddie shrugged. His eyes were on her, taking the chance to admire her up close. He never allowed himself this close to her. And even if she reeked of a run-down bar, he wanted to be closer.
"Ha, funny." She faked and laughed. "You are the biggest asshole I've ever met. Well until Randy anyway."
Eddie let the name-calling slide as he focused on the second part. "what did he do?"
"Not like you care. You'd probably get to tell me I told you so and rub it in my face that I'm some stupid young girl who doesn't know anything." She scoffed, her eyes open just to glare at him. She wanted to glare the soft look in his eyes away. Why was he looking at her like that? Did he always smell this good? Finally being face to face, inches away, she instantly knew why girls never looked away.
"I do care about you. And you're not dumb, he's dumb. You are young, but that doesn't mean you don't know anything. Talk to me." He said, his hand softly resting on her knee. She tried to ignore the way it made her heart flutter.
If she was sober, she probably wouldn't have given in. But she was drunk and the words rolled off her tongue.
"We had sex, and he disappeared on me. I mean you were right," she said as she turned her head to fully face him. The pain was easy to tell in her eyes as Eddie felt his stomach drop. "I'm not a pretty shiny thing anymore. He got what he wanted and that's all I was good for." Tears filled her eyes as she looked away. She felt embarrassed to admit to Eddie he was right.
Eddie wrapped his arm around her shoulder and brought her body into his. Her head was in his neck as she softly cried.
"I shouldn't have talked to you like that. Yeah, he's a dick and I knew that. But I'm sorry for ever making you think you are just a shiny thing for boys. You are beautiful, so smart, and incredibly sexy. Anyone would be lucky to have you. You are worth so much more than sex. Don't let that idiot make you think differently." Eddie said into her hair, his chin on the top of her head as he rubbed her arm.
"If I'm all those things, why do you hate me so much?" She asked, keeping herself hidden in his neck.
"I don't hate you."
"Yes you do," she scoffed, pushing herself away from him. But his arm still lingered on her shoulder. She wiped away her tears, "You always ignore me, you never notice me! But you notice all of my friends and spend all your time flirting with them. So there's something you don't like about me" She rolled her eyes as she finished speaking.
"You're right," he sighed, Y/N tried to hold back more tears, "there's something I don't like about you." His hand reached down to her chin and moved her head to look back at him. Her wet eyes looked into his. "I hate more than anything that you are my best friend's daughter and that it's completely inappropriate to feel the things I feel for you."
Y/N wasn't sure what to say, her eyes stuck on him as she listened to his words. She didn't want to admit anything unless her sober self did it first.
"You're much cuter when you're not being an asshole." Y/N laughed, trying to ease how tense their conversation became. But the confession made her heart swell.
"Let's get you home, kid." He laughed, standing up and taking her hand.
~~~
It's been a week since that night and Eddie found himself too nervous to see Gareth or Y/N. He confessed all his thoughts to a drunk Y/N, who probably didn't remember the night.
He felt guilty for ignoring her for his benefit. He didn't connect the ways that she could have felt hurt and it made sense why she built that wall with him. But now he wanted her to break it down, and he wanted her. He wanted to make her feel special and worthy.
But he knew he caused some wounds and the hurt lingered on her and it wasn't his place to rush her healing.
Eddie was lost in his thoughts as he stared ahead at the cereal aisle.
"Thinking hard, huh?" He heard a voice come from behind him. He jumped out of his thoughts and turned around. Y/N stood there with a cart and a smile on her face.
"Hi, stranger. How have you been?" Eddie asked, he hated how nervous he felt but she looked happy and she spoke to him, so that had to mean something good.
"I've been good. Things with Randy are done for good." She said, Eddie nodded. That means she remembered that night. "and I wanted to thank you for helping me get home that night."
"It wasn't a big deal. I'm happy to help."
"Well I need to go, dad has me on a time limit." She laughed, Eddie smiled but felt a little bummed their talk had to be cut so short. She began to walk past him, then stopped and looked over her shoulder.
"Oh Eddie," she said, he turned to look back at her. "I have inappropriate feelings for you too." She sent a wink and walked off. But Eddie was frozen in the aisle with a smile on his face and a flutter in his stomach.
~~~
A few days later, Eddie was pulling up to Gareth's house. A case of beer in his hands as he knocked on the door.
And to his delight, Y/N opened the door. She was in sweatpants and a tank top, a night in.
"I'm sorry, my dad got called into work. But you are welcome to come in!" Y/N said, stepping aside as Eddie walked in.
"Beer?" He asked, holding up the case.
~
Half the case was gone as they settled on the couch and talked all night. It turned out they had more in common than they believed. They had a similar taste in movies and music. Same opinions on food and people in town.
The more they talked, the closer their bodies got.
"Can I tell you a secret?" Y/N whispered, her face inches away from Eddie's.
"Oh absolutely, darling." Eddie laughed, moving his face closer to hers. Practically nose to nose.
"I've always thought you were so fucking hot. I mean, I still do. You have this strong jaw, aged eyes, and major sex appeal. I can't tell you how many friends I stopped talking to after you flirted with them because I was so jealous." She explained a confession she was sober enough to make.
Eddie fought off the huge blush he felt on his cheeks.
"That jealous? That's so hot." Eddie whispered, a dark look over his eyes. "Want to make them jealous?" His lips were inches from hers as he cupped her jaw.
Y/N knew what he was hinting at and god did she want it.
"Definitely," she smiled, his lips pressed against hers as he devoured her. The kiss was heavy and hot. Set her body on fire and made her see stars. Eddie moaned in the back of his throat as she climbed on his lap. Her hands ran down his toned back.
He couldn't control himself, his hands worked down her body and landed on her thighs. He gave them a quick squeeze before he moved them to her ass. She moaned as his hands squeezed her ass, her hands moved to under his shirt, her fingernails scratching his chest and feeling his chest hair.
Their moans and groans filled the empty house as their tongues battled and tasted each other.
~~~
After their heavy moment together, the flirty looks and comments couldn't stop. Whenever Eddie was over to see Gareth, Y/N couldn't help herself. Whenever her dad left the room, her lips and hands were on Eddie in seconds. That not he complained, kissing her was his favorite thing in the world.
It didn't take long for them to start going on dates and becoming a couple. Gareth knew Y/N was dating and had a boyfriend, he just wasn't sure who it was. He had a feeling it could have been Eddie, he knew his daughter and she was easy to see through. Eddie had a better poker face so that's where Gareth was stuck.
Y/N could have been dating a different guy but had a massive crush on Eddie. But it wasn't his place to force answers, he'd wait until she was ready to tell him.
~
Y/N was waiting by the door, Eddie was on his way to pick her up for their date. Gareth respected her privacy and didn't sneak to see who's been picking her up.
"Hey, kid. I got to tell you something." Gareth said, Y/N walked over to the opening of the living room where he sat on the couch.
"What's up?" She asked her eyes on the clock.
"I know you have a thing for Eddie," Y/N froze in her spot and her eyes went wide. She went to deny but her dad kept on taking it. "And I just wanted to tell you before you got your hopes up. But he's dating someone. He's never been serious with anyone before but this girl he's locked into."
Gareth watched as a tiny smile that was quick to appear was also quick to disappear from her face. But she didn't look upset, and that's how Gareth felt like he already knew.
"And you aren't upset at all," Gareth said with a smirk. "I thought you'd be crushed."
"Oh well, you know. Just a crush." She said as she tried to brush it off.
"Y/N, I know the girl is you," Gareth said, taking a sip of his beer as she stood shocked. "I have a feeling why you both tried to hide it, not very well might I add. If you wanted it a secret, maybe don't let him feel you up in the hallway. But I want you to know, you are both adults, and I just want you to be happy."
Y/N blushed embarrassed at the thought of her dad watching her boyfriend feel her up. But she felt happier than ever to know her dad accepted Eddie.
"Thank you, dad." She said, she walked over and leaned down to hug him.
"I'll still kick his ass if needed."
Y/N laughed and bid her goodbye. A bright smile on her face as she walked out and met Eddie halfway.
"What's with the big grin?" Eddie asked
"My dad knows," before she could finish her sentence, Eddie was already running to his car and starting the engine.
He may have been older, but he still reacted like a child sometimes. But hey, she wouldn't want it any other way.

Hello there!
I spent Valentine's Day ruining patrons' nights at my restaurant by telling them our computers were down, but what can you do, you know? Other than that, February was a good time. I was able to read a lot more, and prepare a more in depth list for you, even if it's short.
Hope you enjoy!
Bridges by @cavendishbutterfly E, 16.1k
Reading this felt like getting a personal tour of Budapest. The reverence the author has for the location shines through and gives you a lovely look at a new location. I find Harry exploring his sexuality abroad especially interesting- as if being somewhere else allows him a sort of freedom he wouldn't find at home. There's an appreciation for beer in this fic that I appreciate, since beer is one of life's greatest treasures. I especially loved Cho Chang being a main character in this fic. I love seeing her being utilized in such a fun way when she was done so dirty by she who shall not be named.
Thickets by @wolfpants E, 17k
There are some insane lines in this (very positive), along with some very fun portrait dialogue. Gut-wrenching and extremely intimate. Some scenes can leave you feeling like you're intruding on a very personal moment as a reader. I love a Harry Potter who's a bit obsessed with Draco. ALSO, this fic contains one of the hottest wet dreams I've ever read. Do with that what you will.
Polar Night/Midnight Sun by toomuchplor E, 54.3k
Harry is very horny. Like, at times, this fic is so sexually charged it's almost unbearable. In a very good way. The clothing descriptions make me want to touch those mittens and hats so bad. I know they'd be soft and so fucking squishy. A few things this fic includes: one bed, a lack of magic, for a while, that is perfectly reasonable, and Harry's thing for Draco's teeth (they're like a military cemetery, if you even care.) Also, the sexual allure of someone struggling to get into an attic (I get it,) and Draco's daddy issues (typical but welcomed.) Diagnosis: Extensive therapy. For everyone. Even the dog. ALSO, these boys have STAMINA.
Recursion by @tessacrowley E, 132.5k
As I said in a previous post, "Sometimes you just have to zap Draco Malfoy into the past and let him live for years as the wizard Young Sheldon." This fic will give you WHIPLASH, but it won't be nearly as bad as Draco's. This boy(man?) goes through it. Absolutely engrossing. I couldn't stop reading until I was finished. I love a good canon rewrite, and @tessacrowley has now written my two favorite fics in that genre. Their characterization of Draco is always spot-on in whatever context they put him in. Show-stopping, fantastic, wonderful.
See you next month! XX, Moon.

Cover your ears ya'll.

A quickie in the janitors closet by pizzz_10
(1/1 842)
Stiles wanted to go lunch after class, but Derek has other ideas
Something to Remember Me By by 1lostone
(1/1 I 5,038)
At a graduation party, Derek makes some assumptions.
Stiles sets him straight.... so to speak.
Gordian Knot (Of Sex) by tourdefierce
(1/1 I 5,859)
Losing his virginity was hard enough when Lydia Martin was his sole focus. Now there are werewolves involved and this is way crazier. For one, there are a lot more dicks involved. (To be fair, in some of his fantasies, Lydia Martin had an impressive rubber cock.) Either way, Stiles doesn't know why he thought getting rid of his pesky virginity was going to be easier with Derek involved—the guy is practically allergic to doing anything the easy way and that includes Stiles. Being done. Because he's easy. What.
Things We Know, Unsaid by uraneia
(1/1 I 6,036)
Stiles accidentally finds a trunk full of Derek's professional dom gear from when he lived in New York. They don't talk about it. Then Stiles turns eighteen, and they do.
*
If he thought Derek would be angry or embarrassed at Stiles finding a trunk full of quality BDSM gear in his closet, he’d have been wrong. “I used to do it professionally, in New York,” Derek says easily, and Stiles—Stiles doesn’t know how to process that. Because he’s seventeen and has eyes and an unfortunately vivid imagination, and if he lets it go there he’s not going to get any use out of any body part except his dick for several hours.
Feel You Breathing by sugareey
(3/3 I 8,400)
Derek: So, you need a distraction.
Stiles: Maybe Stiles: It’d be better if you were here to help me with that. Stiles: ;D
[Or: Sexy things start late one night when Derek gets a text from Stiles and escalate from there. A few secrets are revealed along the way.]
Melt Me Slowly Down by maichan808 (maichan)
(1/1 I 20,307)
The last thing Stiles expects when he walks into Lydia’s exclusive S&M club is to rescue a sub who’s obviously been mistreated for a long time. His name is Derek, and when he awkwardly reaches out, asking Stiles to be his Dom, the urge to shield Derek from more pain is too strong for Stiles to resist. But Derek is still recovering from his past and learning how to set boundaries, so they have to take things slow.
Incredibly Gifted Fakers by Fortem
(21/? I 76,596)
Stiles desperately needs a new scene partner and Derek desperately needs a job. They may just be able to help each other out, if they remember that this is all supposed to be acting.
Yoda Said It Best by OKDeanna
(21/21 I 99,128)
Derek Hale knows he as a problem. Contrary to what some might believe, he isn’t stupid. He knows the Jeep has meaning to him, real meaning. The kind of meaning that he doesn’t want to think about, let alone stop and have to analyze. Except… his son keeps pushing him about it, prodding at him, and then before Derek knows it, Stiles is back in Beacon Hills, driving the one thing in the world Derek wishes he never had to set eyes on again. If Derek isn’t careful, he could open himself up to a fall, and that would affect more than just his son but also his own traitorous heart. Because with Stiles back, Derek finally has hope again, and its making him want the things he knows better than to ever crave: a home, a future, a life—love.
Domestication by Arver7, Moit
(37/37 I 280,892)
Derek and Stiles are heat partners, but neither realises how invested the other one is. When Stiles winds up pregnant, their relationship gets more serious, even if neither of them knows how to handle it.

since there's a lot accounts that either don't have a dni, or will say something vague like, "just be nice", and i don't want to risk reblogging any selfship posts from antis/people who will be rude or violent towards me and other proshippers for interacting:
if you are not proship and make selfship posts, but are fine with proshippers interacting with you, please in some way interact with this post! like it, comment, reblog, whatever—feel free to even specify that you're not proship, just fine with us interacting if you want to make sure your followers don't get confused
but also, if you are proship and you make selfship posts, feel free to interact as well! i just want to expand the amount of people who i'm reblogging from because i feel like i'm only reblogging from the same handful of folks, and well, i want this be a blog that showcases the welcoming and kind side of the selfship community as a whole—proship or not 💛
also, for those who don't know what the proship stance is, or those who have been misinformed, here is the definition of proship and an explanation of what being proship means:
proship means you pro/for shipping, the same way someone who is pro abortion is pro/for abortion, "pro" is not short problematic like some will try to say it
this is a belief that people should not be shamed or harrassed for the ship dynamics they like or engage in with fictional characters, even if those dynamics are ones you find disgusting, squicky, or triggering. blocking, blacklisting, and or just ignoring tags and users is encouraged
it does not mean that you like every ship dynamics, or even the people who ship those dynamics, it just means you acknowledge the fact that while fiction affects reality, it does not do so on a 1 to 1 ratio
like how watching a horror movie may upset you or may make you excited, it is not going to make you a murder, or even make you want to murder people. and in the very rare case that someone does decide to commit a murder after being inspired by a horror movie, the blame still lies fully on them because they still made the choice the murder, the movie may have caused inspiration but it did not force them to act on those inspirations. giving any blame to the movie in this case is saying that people are not responsible for their actions, that emotions and feelings are understandable excuses, removes accountability from and give justification to abusers, and allows other kinds of abusers to use similar means of defense such as "well, she was wearing a short skirt and i couldn't help myself!"
and for an example specifically about not liking ships, i do not like ships featuring any child aged characters, including child x child/teen/adult, loli, shota, etcetera, but i do not harrass, shame, and or accuse these people of being pedophiles or anything. i block people who ship these ships and block any related tags to avoid seeing this kind of dynamic but that's it. i acknowledge that people who like seeing murder in media most often have no desire to see murder in real life and that this same logic applies to other crimes depicted in fiction, such as incest, domestic abuse, and yes, even pedophilia
being proship also doesn't mean shutting down discussions around media, it just means not censoring that media so that those discussions can take place. to give an example, i find racist and homophobic stories, movies, etcetera disgusting but i do not want them censored, because if we censor them we remove our means to analyze, debate, and discuss these stories/etcetera and the people who make them
take the phenomenon around the popularity of Fifty Shades of Gray where suddenly there was a lot of new easily accessible information on how those scenes were wrong, but here's how to do kink properly and safely. if we had censored Fifty Shades of Gray out of fear people would have began sexually abusing each other, we never would have gotten all the wonderful education and discussions that we did
also, proship refers solely to the belief, not the dynamics of certain ships often associated with proshipper. either you are proship, a proshipper, or you beliving in proshipping, but you cannot ship a "proship" nor is there such thing a "proship ship" since proship is a belief, not a dynamic
*note, if you wish just to reblog the definition and explanation of proship that i gave, you can find it here: [○•♡click here♡•○]

Tony’s Childhood. Part 2.2. Effects: Inner Child
Before this part, be sure to read Part 1 and Part 2.1.
Let’s go back to his sometimes childish behavior: for example, he plays nanoball with Pepper in several scenes in IM2, buys her plush toys, throws things off the countertop and climbs onto it to be higher, and so on…
Tumblr media
Some may have noticed that this happens more often in the presence of Pepper, who in some ways acts as his mother figure. And, even more important for understanding this phenomenon, he does this when he is in serious condition: in IM2 he is dying from palladium poisoning, in IM3 he has PTSD.
Tumblr media
Note: using the phrase “childish behavior” I do not mean infantilism as a disorder – that’s different, and something that Tony does not have.
So why is he like this?
The answer is simple: he was not allowed to be a child when he was one, and was emotionally neglected, so his normal psychological development was disrupted from an early age, leading to the development of this coping mechanism, and ultimately part of his personality remained in "child mode".
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As Howard rushed to prepare Tony to become "the messiah", he discouraged him from normal childhood activities and behavior, even when Tony was 4 years old. His parents were not present in his life emotionally from the beginning, and later they were also not present physically. From the age of 7, Tony lived in conditions that children much older than him usually live in, with those older children, not with peers. His activities there consisted mainly of studying science and technology. He couldn't act like the child he actually was. And in college, when he was still a kid, he was thrown into the community of college students. Not the proper environment for a child.
From his perspective when he recruited Peter in CW he was recruiting a 15-year-old himself, who, in many ways, was already an adult.
Tumblr media
However, these misfortunes in the future allowed him to easily find a common language with children like Harley, Peter, and Morgan. His inner child understands them, knows what they want and need, how they think. He does not talk down to them and treats them as equals. He also knows what to get Harley for his help and how to be a great father - because he can see from both perspectives.
Tumblr media
Conclusion: Tony was deprived of the opportunity to be a child, which affected his psychological development, leaving him a bit of a child in his adult life. This had its pros and cons, including some difficulty communicating with other adults, but at the same time, it made it easier to communicate with children.
It also gave him a somewhat distorted view of childhood (thinking that other children were just like him - practically little adults), which gradually faded with the experience of caring for a "regular" teenager.
All these features also allowed him to become a wonderful father in contrast to his own.

The peach blossoms are blooming
Lol @the fancy title, haha. Yesterday I promised "two hoboxu's today!" but I'm an inconsistant liar so the second is today and not yesterday, HAH.
Anyway, another painting of my very beloved; more about this piece below!
So aside of the obvious joke, what I really wanted to work on and represent on this picture is, as the title makes it clearer, grief, and what it looks like for ZZS.
The idea came from imagining ZZS setting off, happy with his disguise, and passing by a peach tree orchards and seeing all the peach blossoms blooming, and what it would entail.
...So let's talk about what TYK is about again, shall we?
(usual caveat: those are my thoughts and interpretations etc etc)
Little is known of the four years that separate the end of QY and the beginning of TYK. Even less is obviously stated when it comes to the reasons why ZZS has put in the nails, besides the obvious "requirement to leave Tian Chuang" part.
So, trying to leave all headcanons and other suppositions aside, and looking at what the text gives us, one of the main "storylines" of ZZS' personal journey across both books seems to be: dealing with the loss of LJX, first of their relationship, and later, of LJX entirely.
>I'm going to boldly announce that (I think) TYK is in great parts a story about getting over grief, or rather, properly living with grief.
Needless to say that it is clear that ZZS has a bunch of issues he's dealing with, including "the void after meeting your goals; what's next?" and some form of burnout from completely over-exerting himself and going way beyond what he thought he could sustain mentally; but also. Four years after he lost LJX, ZZS is still deeply grieving. Still seeing him in crowds, still thinking about him frequently, still hallucinating him, dreaming of him. He couldn't resist taking in ZCL because ZCL reminded him of LJX. Nearly every single thought of his own past ends up rooting back to LJX.
The first time he mentions LJX's name out loud in TYK, chapter 41, is the first time he mentions it at all in four years, and to quote the text:
Speaking out his name hadn't been that big of a deal, in the end; it had only felt like something had been pulled out of his chest—like he was now missing a piece, like it left behind an empty void.
(TYK ch41, TL by me)
The next scene is when it hits ZZS that he's going to die; from that moment on, ZZS starts feeling stupid, ZZS slowly starts wanting to find a solution, influenced by WKX... and the story culminates with ZZS making the opposite decision that he made in QY: instead of risking never seeing WKX alive again, and against WKX's decision, he goes to meet him, unlike LJX whom he was too scared to go meet, and lost forever without even saying goodbye.
>I think that ZZS essentially took the nails because he couldn't manage to live with that grief, basically. (I know, I KNOW there are other reasons, but for the sake of analyzing this theme, I find interesting to look at it from this angle; how the narrative shifts towards ZZS putting in the efforts to stay alive at the exact same times he starts letting go of LJX literally.) And then, as he learns, as he rediscovers life differently, the story becomes about getting free from the nails, about actially living with that grief rather than dying because of it.
*coughs* so, hum, yes. This is what I wanted to represent. What grief looks like, at this stage of melancholic, happy, self-deprecating acceptance of freedom through death—freedom of the burden of grief and guilt. It's a bittersweet feeling, but the way I see it, he smiles out of what he thinks is inner peace, resignation, and once again, self-deprecation.
I would go even deeper, in that ZZS' relationship to death with regards to LJX is quite complex and difficult, given how he was told by LJX himself that he ought to die for what he's done (or misunderstood LJX saying so), but that's a whole other can of worms and I don't have the brain juice to go there again (since it wouldn't even be the first time iirc). SO YEAH, again, grief, but ZZS style: turned into a bit of a melancholic, silly, but gentle joke, and with a smile on the face. On brand with TYK as well.
Cheers!

I would like to talk about the Music Festival arc - aka my favorite Mairuma arc until now. I love them all tbh, this is just very close to my heart for several reasons. [cw: non-suggestive discussion of s*x; if you are a s*x-repulsed asexual person you are very much welcome to interact, but this may not be the post for you, take care and proceed with caution ♡ edit: I'm uncensoring the words from here onwards thanks to a kind anon's suggestion] To make it short, I love that the main theme of this arc is pleasure, and the desire for it. Honestly, it's very horny - but not in a slimy or creepy way, which is sadly quite rare in my experience. The appreciation for pleasure coming from love (also platonic love) is there in several layers. First, the plot itself, as Lilith cries out her desire to find "a love that burns like fire". She is not satisfied by most pretenders, and especially this frame spoke to me:
Tumblr media
Because... Well... It's so true. I am an adult, and I had my share of sexual partners. The expressions people make irl are not always aesthetically pleasing, but who cares! We are told to strive to be always attractive, but in those moments of intimacy it's really not important, not as much as being fully present and enjoying the moment! Then, can we talk about Kalego please?
Tumblr media
I mean, Nishi here went all out and didn't even try to hide her fascination for ...discipline:
Tumblr media
(and to be fully clear: I am NOT implying there is sexual tension between Kalego and his students, I am only referring to him!!!) When I saw the whip I couldn't believe my eyes. Of course in that context it's not used that way, but it's very much recognizable as an adult tool... But more on this later. Finally, I really like that the Misfits are growing up and finding out new things about themselves. They are characterized as high school students (even if we don't know how old they actually are), which is when humans tend to have their first experiences and explore their sexualities. They are building together this beautiful show full of emotions and desire, and honestly performing with other people is really an amazing feeling (I am a former musician and theater actor - let me tell you, every performance was fire). Look at their faces: from here...
Tumblr media
...to here.
Tumblr media
They are shocked, but happy! And definitely feeling ...feelings. And here is my main takeaway: I am really, really sad that sex is a taboo topic in our society, and when there's something about sex, it's mostly treated in a very bad way. This includes sex scenes in generic-audience movies, which I tend to dislike... I hate that sex is handled like a dirty and secret thing. I hate that sex is mostly treated as something that has to do with power imbalance and taking advantage of someone else, usually men that "want to do stuff TO" women (nonbinary individuals like myself not found) - and too often not in a hot and consensual way. I hate that social media are becoming more and more sex-hostile, because investors fear these topics, and use children as a shield to justify limiting contents for adults as well. I hate that sexual education is mainly reserved for talking about pregnancies and, if the students are lucky, prevention of STDs. Solo or reciprocal pleasure? Consent? Treating it as a normal part of life for many people (and not ALL, again, asexual people exist)??? Naaaah, why do that, when you can make people feel shame and embarassment and perpetuate trauma. Again, I am a grown-up now, and while this is legal and everything, I was conditioned to feel some level of shame nonetheless when talking about it irl (which I am working on). The whip I was writing about before (and the kneeling scene afterward)? It was a revolution in my brain. "So... That's a thing we can do...?"
Tumblr media
(like that) I plan on doing some adult drawings in the future, but there's a part of me that resists the idea, because adult entertainment usually involves some level of dehumanization... But you know what? I want to take it back and make it about pleasure and enjoyment as it should be. Tbh, I could write a whole essay on the causes for all of the above and how they interact (patriarchy, capitalism, religions as power institutions, etc.), but this is not the place. So I'll just say that I am really, really grateful to Nishi for including this arc in a manga for a young audience, as those are important years to build a healthy relationship with pleasure and one's own body. And as Sullivan said...
Tumblr media
I'm very much convinced that Nishi is doing a great job at sending messages for inclusion and social equality in M!IK, taking the role of educator herself. (Other reasons why I love the Music Festival arc are: Soi's story, Clara and Azz becoming closer, Iruma learning the piano, the appreciation of music itself, the immaculate art and more, but that's for another post!!!)

for your recent ask on how to build relationships in movies where you used willabeth as an example i was just thinking of them as i read ur post lmao! what do u think are some underrated aspects of their relationship in the films ? and if you had to pick a favorite film of the potc trilogy based on just willabeth, which would you pick?
Oh, yay! A Willabeth ask!
AWE automatically wins on "At Wit's End" (aka "Will and Elizabeth's love theme") alone. That is the soundtrack to a cosmic, epic, transcendental, soul-moving, earth-shattering love story, that is the epitome of a romantic composition, it is everything. Like just listen.
But I mean, the scenes that they have in this movie?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I'm not sure that there's anything that shippers find underrated about them, it would just be in response to Sparrabeth shippers or people who are anti-Willabeth, which I just don't find merits a response but something I do quite enjoy about the Willabeth love story is the role Jack plays in it and how his respective bonds with Will and Elizabeth actually reinforce that love story:
Like, Jack helps Will come to terms with his parentage and history
Tumblr media
and therefore who he is and Will, in turn, saves Jack from the gallows.
Elizabeth has faith in Jack, tells him he’s a good man, helps him see the morality of situations
Tumblr media
and Jack does prove her right in Dead Man’s Chest by coming back to help the crew but I think the most significant way he proves her right is by going against a desire he wanted for all of At World’s End so he can do right by Will (and it actually goes further than his desire throughout At World’s End but to a fundamental passion like he sold his soul to Davy Jones to get the Pearl, that’s how much he loves the sea)
Tumblr media
and then you had Jack speaking to Elizabeth’s desire for freedom
Tumblr media
and encourages her obtainment of that freedom, of that agency, of that power
Tumblr media
which ultimately leads back to her choosing to love and be with Will
Tumblr media
which, despite what antis say, isn't a regression. The trilogy begins with seeing her discomfort in "polite society" and feeling pressured into doing what's expected i.e. an engagement to Norrington
Tumblr media
which includes hiding her fascination with pirates as well as her feelings for Will
Tumblr media Tumblr media
the two things are interconnected. In fact, when we see her being chastised for not behaving the way she should, it's when she's too intimate with Will
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Her interest in pirates is signified with her keeping Will's medallion
Tumblr media
her choosing Will is also her choosing her own freedom
Tumblr media
Will even teaches her how to fight
Tumblr media
and throughout the trilogy, it's them discovering more facets of themselves i.e. Will reunites with his father, Elizabeth actually gets to be a pirate but what even got them on those journeys was trying to find/help the other so they can be together
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and those layers just bring them back together stronger. This has always been the point
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This also isn't exactly underrated but I find when I go into the tag, there's a lot of emphasis on what Will does for Elizabeth, how he supports her, how in love with her he is, how devoted to her he is and I completely understand why but also Elizabeth's devotion to Will deserves a spotlight as well.
Going to fight undead pirates alone to save Will
Tumblr media
Being both surprised and upset at Will even considering that she could be in love with Jack
Tumblr media
Giving away the entire plan because she couldn't feign disinterest when Sao Feng acted as though he'd stab Will
Tumblr media
Having to literally be carried away by Jack when Will was stabbed
Tumblr media
Even the smaller, in between things like Will shouting at Elizabeth to shoot at the barrels of rum but her refusing because he was still caught in the net.
I just love them so much.

What's getting me about folks also comparing the scene with Megumi and Yuji versus the scene with Yuji and Todo back in Shibuya is that some are doing it just to bash Megumi's character.
"He needs to suck it up and move on."
Similar as the circumstances may be, there are some differences.
Yes, it's going to take Megumi to listen to Yuji calling out to him. Yes, it's going to take Megumi's choice to want to be saved.
This is a "save those who want to be saved", a "help me help you" situation.
But let's consider a few things as to why this time around it is going to be a lot more difficult this time around.
Back in Shibuya when confronted by Todo, Yuji was in control of his body. Todo had an easier time reaching out to him because Yuji was right there in the physical world.
Fast forward to now, Yuji actually had to find a way to even get to where Megumi is. He couldn't just walk up to him. He actually had to reach and find his soul in a void that Sukuna placed him in using a technique.
Not only that, keep in mind that Megumi's soul was forced deeper in a void after Sukuna took that curse bath and killed his sister, the only person Megumi had left as family and really cared for. You could also include Gojo. But by that time, I would say Megumi was already too deep to witness that. Megumi had no means of escape until now. Also, Yuji only got to call out to Megumi once before Sukuna intervened. He didn't have time to comfort Megumi.
Like, damn, can we give Megumi and Yuji a chance?
With Yuji, when Sukuna did what he did in Shibuya, Yuji was able to get back control. Remember Yuji was literally made to be Sukuna's vessel. Yuji has a better hold on his control on Sukuna when he possessed his body than Megumi does. Sukuna had limited time.
Also, and this is going to sound harsh, Sukuna killed people Yuji had no attachment to. That is not to say Yuji doesn't care about the well-being of others. That's part of who he is. Yuji did feel for those people, they were innocent and he couldn't do anything to stop Sukuna. But at the same time, he was able to spend less time mourning those people because there was no attachment. When Todo had to confront Yuji, it was after Nobara and Nanami had been attacked killed by Mahito's hands. It's why Yuji was in the state he was in. Nobara and Nanami were people Yuji did have an attachment to, so it did take someone like Todo to encourage him to move on unlike the first time Yuji pushed himself forward. Also, Akari came in and gave Yuji just a bit of hope about Nobara.
There's also their characters. Yuji is the type that no matter how bad things get for him, he will push on. He has just a tad bit stronger mental state than Megumi does. Yuji comes from a relatively "nice" background. He did lose his parents (...) and had to be raised by his grandfather. But he also did have people around him who liked him, even at times he felt like a loner.
Megumi, on the other hand, lost his parents and had to be raised by his (step)sister, Tsumiki who is not that much older than him and later on got put in a coma. His father's side of the family is a prejudice clan and only valued Megumi because of his technique and was sold to said clan by the father he never knew. Gojo was his benefactor, he looked out for him but it's up for interpretation of how their relationship really was like while growing up. Gojo had took Megumi in when he was just 17-18 years and think about the kind of person Gojo is. Megumi also didn't have friends that we know of.
Yuji became a jujutsu sorcerer to help people and there are still people to save. Same for Megumi, but remember his goal mostly did come from wanting to save Tsumiki who had now been killed by his own technique thanks to Sukuna.
Yuji is like sunshine, Megumi like rain.
Yuji's warm and inviting, Megumi is gloomy and cold.
Yuji's outlook on life is different from Megumi's. He has this unbreakable resolve and just more optimistic. Megumi is more pessimistic.
I also take in account of physical damage to their bodies.
I think I did say this in another post, but anyways, when Sukuna possessed Yuji he was almost invincible. Gojo managed to put some damage to him during their first meeting. After that, how many times had Sukuna actually suffered any injuries? Can't think of a time.
When he possessed Megumi, he was able to be injured and bleeds. Remember his fight with Gojo had left some after effects on him, therefore could have also affected Megumi.
Going back to a previous point, when Todo approaches Yuji, Yuji was able to tell he was real. What if in this case, Megumi is so dull from everything Sukuna had put his mental through and because he is in a void of darkness (contrasting from the lit setting Yuji had been in) Megumi believed Yuji to be just an illusion? He believed it was hard for anyone to come save him?
Especially since, if we count the possibility of Megumi witnessing the fight between Gojo and Sukuna, he may feel like an afterthought?
During that fight, Yuji had question if Gojo even remembered to save Megumi and the others weren't even sure of that. Megumi probably felt the same way.
It reminds me of how way back in the beginning as to why Megumi didn't want Yuji executed in the first place. Yuji barely knew the guy, but he saved him. Even risking his life to fight a curse without cursed energy before swallowing that finger. What if Megumi harbored some sort of guilt from that? Yuji's execution may have been postponed, but he was still set to die. On top of that, because Sukuna's fingers had caused one curses to rise and therefore more people are at risk.
Megumi told Nobara not to tell Yuji anything because Yuji would feel guilty.
"Why bother saving me then?"
No matter what Megumi does, it seems things keep getting worse and worse and worse for him.
What if this time around Megumi no longer has the will to leave because he feels like a burden now and doesn't want anyone else to risk their life for his sake? Especially, to Yuji?
Either way, compared to Yuji in Shibuya, both of them are victims. They're just kids. Kids who felt they should die even though they have tried their hardest to save people and there is so much they could do.
To call Megumi a "bum" because he's depressed just gives me "ick" feelings, it does. I saw a comment that called both Megumi and Yuji "losers" and someone argued they're not "losers" when they're traumatized. And they are! In the spam of just months, they witnessed the worse of what has become of Japan all due to curses and curse users. Can you blame any of them for having moments of self-doubt?

Happy Lockwood & Co. Big Bang!!! :D I had the absolute pleasure of collaborating with @The_Dreamer_Half_Alive (on Ao3 :) on her fic for the @lockwoodandcobigbang2023 event; set post TEG, it’s truly so lovely and heartwarming, and I had so much fun doing a piece for it! We very much hope you enjoy :)
Link to the fic!!!! (the horror of the night melt away) under the warm glow of survival of the day
(Closeups below the cut :D) (because I ended up making it too wide to be easily seen in full lol) (plus ~artistic commentary~)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(SPOILERS FOR FIC CONTENT)
Okay, so I tried to put a bunch of little easter eggs from the fic and just in general in here, so if you’re interested:
Alright, to start off, I was generally very inspired by them getting a record player; I thought it was very sweet, and I loved the idea of them finally getting to relax and hang out in the library (the lack of chairs, I know; I couldn’t figure out how to put them in without blocking people lol) and locklyle dancing, with the record player on in the background, so that’s what I took as the basis of the scene!!
We had discussed that the characters were kind of a combo of both show and book versions, so I tried to add a smattering and hints of both when doing their designs!
The record is, of course, an Ella Fitzgerald record as mentioned in the fic (the record drawn is her Souvenir Album)
Holly is wearing her engagement ring, and wearing shades of pink and cream because that’s what she wears at her wedding (although shifted in hue to better match the color scheme of the piece lol)
Everyone (minus Flo) of course has their white strands of hair (which is *always* one of my favorite details to draw)
Lucy and George bake in the fic, but I think I had just read the Christmas mini story when I was doing my thumbnail for this, so Kipps ended up being the one bringing in baked goods; however, the baking mitts are orange and monogrammed with George's initials because I couldn't let that slip by, could I?
I wasn't quite sure what to put Flo in, because in the books she never takes off her boots or puffer jacket, but I wanted to throw in some sign that she was living at 35 Portland Row and becoming closer to all of them, (and her close relationship with George,) so I let her keep the boots, but traded the puffer jacket in for one of George's plaid shirts :)
The chess game also made it in because of the Christmas short story, lol
Lucy's blue star jacket!! When I read the fic, I was planning from the start to have her wearing the jacket, so of course it made it in :) I wasn't really sure what style it should be, though, so I ended up with kind of an odd mishmash of designs, but I think it turned out working alright!
The sapphire necklace, because, of course
I adore that Lockwood wears his pink socks throughout the entire show (well, most of the time they're the pink ones ;) so I wanted to include them (and then gave Lucy blue ones to match :)
The chipped blue mugs that Lockwood brings to Lucy for her tea after she wakes up from nightmares are on the bookshelf, and I couldn't find a way to directly include the Earl Grey tea they have, but I made the tea bag tags grey in honor of it
The green glow is the ghost lamp outside because if I can find a way to incorporate cool glows in my art, I will (and also on a more narrative-driven note, symbolizing the past danger they've been through and how some of it is definitely still present, but they have each other to heal with and finally be able to have some simple fun with, and are now curled up in the safety and comfort of 35 Portland Row :)
And finally, a big theme of the fic is them healing and building a happy life together, so I just wanted them to all be happy for once, and hence I put in my best efforts to draw them as such :)

Lyney x Shy!reader- friends to lovers!
so I can see this going two ways: childhood friends to lovers or normal friends to lovers.
personally I'm obsessed with the idea of childhood friends to lovers, so I'll be going with that one.
You were one of the children kept by the horrible noble that had Lynette. Lyney saved you along with all the other kids
From then on, the three of you have worked together for "Father"
While Lyney and Lynette focused on their performances, you often worked in sneaking around behind the scenes while people were distracted.
You also helped promote Lyney and Lynette through the steambird
When Lyney and Lynette first met you, you were very quiet.
Whether it was just in your nature or as a response to what you may have gone through in the hands of the noble prior to your meeting
over the course of the years, you slowly opened up to the two-- Lyney more so out of the pair
You did technically owe him your life after all
Lynette picked up on Lyney's feelings early on. He was the first to fall
But he was conflicted.
He knew how dangerous working for the House of the Hearth could be. He was already paranoid about something happening to Lynette, he couldn't bare to think about someone using you against him
But then over time, you too fell for the magician
And of course Lynette noticed that too
Lynette tries as hard as she can to create situations where the two of you are alone together
"Alright! (Lee), Lynette! Today was a good show! What say we grab a bite to eat on the way back?"
"Actually, I'm going the the steambird. Charlotee wanted an interview."
"What? She didn't mention that earlier.."
"We arranged it just moment ago."
"Wait- Lynette-"
"I'll see you two at home."
"..Shall we go get lunch with just the two of us then?"
"..s-sure."
Thankfully, because Lyney is so talkative, one on one dates hangouts are never awkward
He always has something to say, and he always finds a way to include you
"So I was thinking about bringing you on stage in our next show! I wanted to show off some of my natural charm to the audience, but I can't very well use my twin sister for that can I? But I also don't feel like bringing a fangirl on stage, so I figure I should bring up someone I'm comfortable being flirtatious around!"
he was avoiding eye contact as he said this. If you looked hard enough, you could see his ears were pink too.
"A-And that someone is.. me..?"
"Why of course! You... You're special to me after all, (Lee)"
Lynette was cheering from the table a few feet away as she listened in
The relationship was great, you already knew everything about each other.
It was a bit slow moving when it came to affection though
And so, Lyney's new favorite hobby was formed: teasy you
You poor, poor soul.
The SECOND you blush about ANYTHING he does, he's teasing you.
Exhibit A:
Lyney was in the middle of a performance in the street for some kids and their parents,
"Ah! Look everyone, here comes my lovely partner now! (Lee) dear, come here a moment."
Next thing, he's pulling out some flowers from nowhere and turning them into a flower crown for you.
"There! Doesn't (Lee) look pretty? Aww it would seem my beloved is a little shy."
He definetly grabs your chin and looks into your eyes like a smug bastard we love him though
"There's no need to be shy. I'm not lying when I say you are stunning."
Charlotte has written soooo many articles about you two its not even funny
And Fontanians are living for it
Despite his antics, he never takes things too far.
Like he'd never do something to embaress you if he knew you'd be upset or uncomfortable
And if he ever makes you too upset he will always apologise
With flowers he pulls from his hat
But that rarely happens. He's known you for 10 years now. He knows your boundaries like the back of his hand
The first time you tell him you love him, it's after the trial with the traveler- specifically after they've walked away after confronting Lyney about lying to them
"Lyney.."
"..."
"I'm going to see Freminet. He's probably worried after not seeing us for so long."
"..Lyney. You know the traveler just needs some time to process. We didn't mean any harm by hiding it from them."
"I know! I know.. "
"... I'm proud of you. And... I love you"
You have never seen Lyney so genuinely surprised
As a magician and fatuu, he's seen it all. And above all he knows never to let his facial expressions give away what he's thinking
But he let himself slip this once.. He let his love and admiration for you show clearly on his face
"And I love you too, my dove. My darling (Lee)"

sobbing. I want a Lyney in my life.

Benny was currently orchestrating a sing-along with everyone on the bus, the radio blasting CCR as you drove past green pastures. Benny loved sing-alongs.
They all loved sing-alongs. That was the first thing you’d noticed when you boarded the tour bus with the guys.
Your roommate had dropped you off, surveying the scene like a mom watching her kid on the first day of school. She asked if you were sure you wanted to do this. So many people had asked this question over the last week, why the hell would you ever say no?
You knew deep down that they had a point. The music industry was a beast with teeth, and being the lone woman on a bus full of rock stars wasn't exactly a walk in the park. You didn't have a lot of experience with men, let alone with famous ones, but there was something about the opportunity to tell their story–their real story–that compelled you. You had a feeling in your gut that this was the path for you, the path to your future.
The guys had also welcomed you with open arms, between the maelstrom of stale cigarette smoke and the musky scent of leather jackets and guitar cases they had given you your own space in the form of a bunk bed.
In the brief time you’ve been on the bus with them, you’ve been able to take out your journal and pen, and jot down observations and thoughts. Every so often, your gaze drifted over to the boys, studying their mannerisms, and the way they interacted with each other.
Santiago was the charmer, flirting with anyone and everyone, including you. His confidence was palpable, but you had a feeling there was more to him than just his cockiness.
Benny was the jokester, always cracking a smile or a bad pun, lightening the mood when it got tense. His playful nature was endearing, and you couldn't help but feel drawn to his warm personality.
Will was the stoic one, never letting his emotions show. You sensed a deeper layer of pain beneath his gruff exterior, and you were determined to uncover what it was.
Frankie, with his soulful eyes and kind smile, was a mystery. There was an unspoken understanding between the two of you, a bond that you couldn't explain. You wanted to know more about him, but you knew he was a man of few words.
With your observations jotted down in your journal, you leaned back in your seat, listening to the low rumble of the bus and watching the landscape pass by.
"Mind if I sit here?" Santiago's voice cut through your thoughts, his voice smooth and inviting.
"Of course," you replied, flashing him a quick smile as you shuffled your belongings to make room. He slid into the seat beside you, his presence immediately commanding, like a spotlight finding its mark on a dimly lit stage.
"Getting some good material for your story?" he asked, nodding towards your journal.
"Always," you said with a small smile, feeling the weight of the assignment on your shoulders. "Got to capture the essence while it's fresh."
Santiago chuckled, a low and raspy sound that sent a shiver down your spine. "Well, you're in the right place. This tour is gonna be a wild ride."
"If it's like the other night at the Chateau, I can't even imagine."
He grinned, his eyes crinkling with amusement. "Oh, sweetheart, that was just the beginning. You ain't seen nothing yet."
"Fillmore West," you murmured the venue you were on your way to, sketching out the bare bones of the article in your head. The name alone carried weight, history—a legacy of acts that had stood where Triple Frontier would soon take the stage.
"Big shoes to fill," you whispered, more to the passing trees than to anyone on the bus.
"Biggest," Santiago agreed. "But we'll fill 'em."
"Confident," you noted, unable to suppress a smile.
"Realistic," he countered, a spark of humor lighting up his features for a fleeting moment.
"Well, you've certainly got the attitude," you teased.
Santiago shrugged before leaning back in his seat, his long legs sprawled out before him. "I'd prefer to call it passion."
You cocked an eyebrow, "Is that so?"
"Sure," he said, his gaze meeting yours. "When you love something–when it's your whole fucking life–you gotta give it your all, you know? You gotta go balls to the wall, all in. Anything less isn't worth it."
"Interesting," you said, intrigued by his perspective. "So what about the fans, then? Is it the same for them?"
Santiago thought for a moment, his eyes fixed on the passing scenery. "Yeah, I guess so. They're as invested as we are: they show up, scream their lungs out, and buy our records. They're part of the machine, just like us."
"The machine, huh? Do you think it's fair to say that the music industry is a machine? That everyone is just a cog in the wheel, working to keep it running?"
Santiago shook his head, a wry smile tugging at his lips, "Fuck no. It's a dog-eat-dog world out there. If you want to survive, you gotta be willing to fight for what you believe in. You gotta be hungry, and you gotta be ruthless."
"Ruthless, huh? And that's how you got where you are now?"
"It's how I've survived this long."
You nodded, processing his words.
Santiago leaned in to whisper to you, tapping a rhythm against his thigh. "Speaking of passion, Frankie couldn't stop talking about how passionate you were about your work. ‘Said it was refreshing to see someone so dedicated."
Your heart stumbled over a beat, the mention of Frankie sending a curious warmth radiating through your chest. You turned to Santiago, trying to gauge the sincerity in his words. "He said that?"
"Yep." Santiago gave a nonchalant shrug, but his eyes twinkled with mischief. "Frankie doesn't give out compliments easily. You must've made quite the impression."
An unfamiliar fluttering sensation took residence in your stomach, a mixture of nerves and something elusively akin to excitement. You tucked the feeling away, instead focusing on the story unfolding before you. "Well, impressions are part of the job, aren't they?"
"Sure, but not everyone leaves a lasting one." He watched you for a moment, a knowing look etched onto his face.
"Let's hope I can live up to it then," you quipped, eager to steer the conversation back to safer territory.
"Something tells me you will," Santiago replied. Picking up on your nervousness, he changed the topic. "Just remember, this is a two-way street. We're giving you a glimpse behind the curtain, so you gotta share a bit of yourself, too."
You considered his words, surprised at his openness. "Fair enough. I'll do my best."
He sauntered back to his bandmates, leaving you with a notebook full of scribbles and a mind swirling with possibilities.
Frankie thought you were special.
 The idea sent a shiver down your spine that had nothing to do with the cool breeze sneaking in through the cracks of the bus.
--------------------------------------
The clang of silverware and the chatter of patrons swirled around as you and the band stepped into a modest roadside cafe, the scent of fresh coffee and griddle pancakes saturating the air.
You grabbed a menu, your eyes scanning over the array of sandwiches and salads. "What's good here?" You asked, more to yourself than anyone else.
"Try the turkey club," Frankie suggested, his voice unexpectedly close. "It's pretty solid."
"Thanks," you said, feeling a blush creep up your cheeks at the sudden attention. Your eyes met for an instant—his brown gaze steady, a quiet intensity within their depths that seemed to see right through you. You quickly looked down at the laminated menu, pretending to be engrossed in the sandwich section.
"Ever tried writing about food?" he asked, his tone light, teasing almost.
“Can't say I have," you replied, smiling despite the awkward fluttering in your chest. "My editor would probably have a heart attack if I pitched him a piece on the culinary prowess of roadside diners."
"Shame," Frankie said, chuckling softly. "You might be onto something."
"Maybe in another life," you mused, still avoiding his gaze. You could sense his amusement, and it was oddly comforting. You risked a glance at him, finding his smile genuine, devoid of the usual rock star pretense.
"Turkey club it is then," you declared, setting the menu aside just as Tom approached the two of you before getting sat down by a host. He gestured to you.
"Hey, can I grab you for a sec?" Tom's voice carried the weight of unspoken urgency.
"Sorry to pull you away," Tom began, leading you towards a corner of the café, away from the buzz of lunchtime chatter. His brow was furrowed, the lines etched deeply. "About that conversation you overheard the other night—it wasn't what it seemed."
"Okay," you said as you tucked a strand of hair behind your ear, your senses heightened to the undercurrent of seriousness in his demeanor, "but managing another band? That's pretty significant, Tom."
"Look," he sighed, rubbing the back of his neck—a gesture you'd come to recognize as Tom grappling with the complexities of his role. "I am fully committed to Triple Frontier–those are my brothers–but this industry... It's relentless. You've got to keep your options open, ‘doesn't mean I'm abandoning ship."
"I get it," you said, not sure if you truly did but were willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. "Just trying to stay ahead of the curve, right?"
"Exactly." Tom's lips twitched into a semblance of a smile. "I appreciate your understanding. Now, go enjoy your lunch. And don't forget to try that turkey club."
"Will do," you replied, your mind already spinning.
-------------------------
You had barely finished your first bite of the turkey club when the guys started telling you stories about Vietnam.
"I swear, these fucking rats would've been the death of me," Benny said, shaking his head. "We're talking like the size of a cat or a small dog. Some of 'em were big enough to carry a baby in their mouth."
"That's heavy," you said, fascinated. "So what would you do when you saw them?"
"I'd either try to kick it or shoot at it, sometimes both."
"You didn't do shit," Frankie interjected. "Remember the time that big rat came scurrying across the tent and you jumped up on a crate, screaming like a little girl?"
Benny glared at Frankie, his eyes narrowed. "Fuck you, Morales. I was not scared, just wasn’t in the mood to deal with some mangy rat."
"That was the only thing that scared you the entire time we were over there, hermano." Santiago added.
"You're both full of shit," Benny said, rolling his eyes.
"Are they?" Will asked, "Because I remember when mom asked us to help clean up the garage and a mouse was hiding behind one of the boxes. You screamed like a banshee and ran out of the house, ‘wouldn't go back in until dad caught it."
"Fuck you, too," Benny shot back.
"Language," Santiago said, smirking.
"Oh, shut up," Benny grumbled.
"Don't get mad at me," Santiago replied, his expression feigning innocence. "I wasn't the one who got scared by a rat."
It was clear that more than anything; the guys shared a brotherhood between them. An unbreakable bond.
"You're all terrible," you joked, unable to contain a smile.
"Yeah, yeah," Benny waved his hand dismissively. "But we're also the guys who will protect you from the rats, so you're welcome."
"How valiant," you replied, earning a few snickers. "Between all the rats and Benny's screaming, how did you guys have time to decide you wanted to make music?"
"Oh, that was a no-brainer," Tom piped up, leaning back in his chair. "These guys would play and sing every chance they got. ‘Didn't matter if it was the middle of the night or the ass-crack of dawn, they were always making music."
"We could hear them in the next barracks," Frankie added, his voice softer than the others, his gaze fixed on the table. "Santi and Will would have their guitars out, and they'd just start playing."
"And Benny would be singing along," Santiago added, "Or dancing. Or doing some weird combination of the two."
Benny shrugged, his grin lopsided. "Gotta keep things interesting."
You nodded, taking notes as the conversation flowed, their stories illuminating the early days of Triple Frontier. You could picture them on a rickety wooden stage, surrounded by sweaty bodies and cigarette smoke, their music carrying them into the night.
As the meal wrapped up, you felt a twinge of guilt, knowing that you'd have to eventually write about their military experience, something they clearly were not proud of.
"Guys, I'm going to have to ask a difficult question," you began, swallowing thickly. "But it's necessary for the article."
"I think we know what you're gonna ask," Santiago said, his tone guarded. "And we don't have any regrets about joining the military. It was a hard time for everyone, but we did our best. We served our country."
"I know, and I respect that," you replied, "But you're also a rock band now, and people are interested in what drove you to that point, how you got out."
The silence hung heavy, no one willing to break the tension. Finally, Benny spoke up, his voice uncharacteristically somber.
"It's like I said earlier, we were all looking for an escape. We needed something to believe in, something to help us make sense of everything. Music was that thing for us."
"It became our purpose, our mission," Will continued, his words deliberate. "We knew we had something special, and we weren't going to let anything stand in the way of that. When Nixon sent us home in '70, we decided to pursue our dream, no matter what."
"So, to answer your question," Santiago concluded, "We joined the military because we were desperate, and we got out because we were hungry. Nothing more, nothing less."
"I understand," you nodded, grateful for their honesty. "And thank you for trusting me with your story."
"You're welcome," Frankie said, his voice quiet but his eyes warm.
"Now, let's go rock this show," Benny declared, his energy returning as he jumped out of his seat. "We've got a lot to celebrate."
You nodded, tucking your notebook away. As the group filed out of the café, you couldn't help but linger a moment longer, a strange feeling tugging at your heart.
You glanced back, catching Frankie's gaze, his eyes searching yours. A silent understanding passed between you, a mutual respect and appreciation for the fragility of the moment. You smiled softly, nodding in his direction before heading off to join the others.
-----------------------------
The road to the venue in San Francisco was a blur of green and gray, the hum of the tour bus's engine playing a monotonous backdrop to your thoughts. You were lost in the loop of the group's words at the cafe earlier when Tom's voice cut through, sharp and sudden.
"Alright, you ready for the real rockstar treatment?" Tom asked, eyeing you from across the narrow aisle. His brow was furrowed, a crease of concern marking his usual stoic expression.
"Sure," you laughed, trying to infuse some bravado into my voice. "How bad can it be?"
"Bad? No, not bad. Just... intense." He leaned closer, lowering his voice as if sharing some sacred secret of the trade. "When we open these doors, there's a sea of fans out there. They'll swarm the bus before we even hit the pavement."
"Fans?" You echoed dumbly, clutching your notepad like a shield.
"Like bees to honey," he added, his eyes scanning your face for understanding. "Just stick close to us, okay?"
"Got it." The words tumbled out easier than you felt. The pen in your hand suddenly seemed like a flimsy shield against the onslaught of adoration awaiting the band.
The bus slowed to a halt, and through the tinted windows, you could see a swarm of people pressed against the metal fencing, their faces flushed with excitement. A sea of faces along with a racket of shrieks and chants, banners and signs hoisted high—all for the five guys you'd shared sandwiches with not even two hours ago.
"Here we go." Benny clapped his hands together, grinning ear to ear. "Showtime, boys—and lady."
The door hissed open, and the sound hit you like a physical wave. You instinctively clutched at your bag, holding it close.
Tom went first, striding out to make sure the path was clear. Santiago followed, loose and relaxed. The rest of the band fanned out behind him, their signature swagger dialed up to an eleven. You trailed a few steps behind, feeling like an awkward sixth wheel.
Hands reached out, grasping at any piece of the band they could touch. A security team formed a protective barrier, pushing back the throng as the group made their way towards the stage entrance.
The crowd's chants grew louder, a steady rhythm of "Triple Front-ier! Triple Front-ier!"
It was a strange mix of emotions: awe and intimidation, wonder and apprehension. You felt small, insignificant. But at the same time, a tiny spark of pride flickered within you. It was an honor to be part of that experience.
Someone jostled you from the side, a fan slipping past security to try and touch one of the guys. Off balance, you stumbled, your heart leaping to your throat, instincts screaming that you'd be swallowed whole by this crowd and your rock and roll dreams would be over.
"Hey—watch it!" A familiar voice rose above the chaos, strong and steady.
Frankie.
Before you could fall, his arm wrapped around your waist, pulling you back against the solidity of his chest. He was warm and real amidst the surreal whirlwind of bodies and noise.
"Gotcha," he whispered, his breath hot against your ear, giving you a feeling in your core that made you feel even more unstable.
His grip on you tightened, his palm splayed across your stomach. Your own fingers curled around his wrist, the pulse there fluttering under the pad of your thumb.
You reached the safety of the entrance into the Fillmore West, and he let go, the loss of contact almost physically painful.
"You alright?" he asked, his eyes searching yours.
"Y-yeah," you stammered, heat rising to your cheeks. "Thank you. I mean, for catching me. You know."
"No problem," he replied, the corner of his lips quirked up. "Just stay close next time, okay?"
You nodded, trailing behind him as he joined the rest of the group, the adrenaline of the moment still coursing through your veins.
Before you could fully process what had just happened, Tom boomed. "Alright, boys—we're behind schedule. You're on in five - let's get this show on the road!"
The group scattered, each of them heading in a different direction. Frankie cast a glance over his shoulder, his gaze lingering for a moment on you before he turned away, following Tom near the stage.
You took a deep breath, trying to regain your composure. This was your job, after all. You needed to keep your wits about you.
The boys all made their way close to the stage, huddled in a circle as Tom gave them a pep talk. You could tell that the group was amped up, and they were ready to go. They had an energy about them that was contagious, and you could feel the excitement building as the crowd started cheering louder and louder.
Suddenly you heard Santiago's voice over the group, "Stop, hey, what's that sound?"
"Everybody look what's going down!" The boys echoed.
The group then broke apart, and you could see them all getting ready to perform. Benny ran to the stage first to a sea of applause. Tom hovered back, talking with a lighting crew member and giving a thumbs-up to the sound technician.
Santiago grabbed his guitar, checking the tuning as Will and Frankie tuned their bass and guitar. Benny was already behind the drum set, tapping the sticks on the drums.
The crowd was now going wild, and the band seemed ready. Frankie headed out first, then Will, then Santiago.
"What a day, what a crowd," Santiago said, his voice low and gruff into the microphone. "We've come a long way, baby. Thank you."
You watched as the band played the intro to their hit song, "Santa Maria." The crowd went nuts, and you could feel the electricity in the air.
As the song played, the band started getting more and more into it, their energy feeding off the crowd. Santiago and Benny were bouncing around the stage, while Will and Frankie stayed more rooted in place.
You watched as Frankie moved to the center of the stage, his fingers expertly dancing across the fretboard of his bass. He was the epitome of cool and collected, despite the sweat dripping down his forehead, the same broad hands that splayed across your waist earlier playing the guitar with ease.
Your pen couldn't go across the paper fast enough, trying to capture the essence of the concert—the sweat that glistened on Santiago's brow as he sang every lyric, the bass reverberating through Frankie's body as if he were the instrument himself, Will's fingers deftly plucking the strings of his guitar, his hair fluttering wildly around him, Benny's eyes locked on the audience as he slammed the drums, his arms flying furiously.
After an hour and a half, the group played their final encore, bringing the crowd to their feet. Santiago and Will stood back to back, singing the last notes of the song, the rest of the band playing the final chords.
The crowd cheered, the deafening noise drowning out everything else. You watched as the guys made their way off the stage, exhaustion etched on their faces.
You caught Frankie's gaze as he passed by, his eyes locking with yours for a brief moment. He smiled, a lazy, lopsided smile that sent a jolt through your body.
As the boys made their way backstage, they were greeted by a mob of adoring fans. Benny and Santiago were surrounded by a group of girls, their shrill voices echoing through the hallways.
You lingered in the shadows, watching the scene unfold. It was a strange feeling, witnessing the band's transformation from the quiet guys you'd shared sandwiches with just hours ago to these larger-than-life rock stars.
The guys seemed to be used to it, their easygoing nature never faltering. They signed autographs and posed for pictures, their smiles genuine.
But as the crowd dispersed, you saw a rare glimpse of the band's true selves.
"Triple Frontier's not just a band," You penned in a rare moment of stillness. "They're a phenomenon, a revolution. And I'm right here, in the eye of the hurricane."
------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Drinks on me, folks," Tom declared, his voice hoarse yet triumphant as he claimed a spot at the bar for the band, crew, and you. The band had decided they wanted to celebrate a good show with some drinks.
"Make that a bourbon, neat," You chimed in, slipping onto a stool beside Tom. Your adrenaline still coursed, mingling with anticipation and fatigue.
"Hard day at the office?" Tom joked, his gaze scanning the group to ensure everyone was accounted for and content.
"Something like that," You said, your eyes scanning the room for Frankie. He was somewhere amid the tangle of bodies and laughter, but maddeningly out of reach. You wanted to thank him for earlier.
The bartender slid a glass in front of you, the amber liquid beckoning.
"Bottoms up," Tom said, raising his own drink in a toast. "Here's to the end of a helluva first show on tour with us."
The whiskey was smooth, burning a warm trail down your throat. The buzz was instant, settling into your bones and loosening the knots that had been tying you up since you'd first stepped foot on the bus.
The conversation flowed freely, and you finally got to get acquainted with the roadies, a diverse group of people with varying stories of their own. It was nice, you thought, to be part of a community.
It had been a long time since you'd felt so at ease with a group of people, so included and welcomed. Your job, despite being the closest thing to a rockstar's life you'd ever experienced, had left you somewhat isolated.
And then there was Frankie, his eyes meeting yours across the room as if drawn by some magnetic force. But before your liquid courage could act upon it, Benny came up to you, his voice slurred but his eyes still clear with a mischievous glint.
"The newest girl on the bus, huh?" He said, leaning in close to your ear. His breath was warm and heavy, the smell of beer and cigarettes mixing with the warmth of his skin.
You narrowed your eyes at him, sensing the questionable compliment coming.
"Yeah, Ben," you replied, trying to keep things friendly but also cautious of his intentions.
"Well, you know what they say," he continued, a smirk playing on his lips, "behind every successful man, there's a woman holding down the fort."
You rolled your eyes, trying to laugh it off as you glanced around the bar, looking not only for Frankie amid the crowd this time but for someone to get you out of this.
"Benny, I don't need a man to be successful," you said, feeling a hint of irritation in your tone. "I can be successful on my own, thank you very much."
Benny let out a low chuckle, not treating your words as a serious rebuttal.
"Well, sure, honey, you can be successful without a man," he said, still smirking. "But let's be honest, it's not going to be as easy as if you had one to support you. I mean, think about it. Who's going to iron your clothes, cook your meals, and keep the house tidy when you're out there touring?"
"Benny..." Will had heard part of the conversation, and his face scrunched up in disapproval. "Lay off, man."
But Benny was relentless, "I'm just saying, sweetheart, it's a stark reality. A strong woman like you, you're gonna face a whole lot of challenges out there in the world, and it would sure be a lot easier with a good man on your side. Just remember, a good woman is hard to find these days. Maybe you'll be lucky enough to find one of the roadies to show you the ropes."
You felt the heat of embarrassment rising in your cheeks as you excused yourself from the conversation telling Tom briskly, "I think I'm gonna head back to the hotel, not feeling too well."
You stepped out of the bar, feeling the cool night air on your skin. You knew Benny was a good guy, you had seen it in the countless acts of kindness he showed the crew, but his words stung more than you had anticipated.
You'll never forget the first time someone made you feel invisible because of your gender. It was a sobering reminder that, despite your success, the industry was still a man's world. You were a woman, and women had no place in the rock 'n roll world, especially not as a journalist. You were a novelty, a rarity, an outlier. A pair of tits.
It was a painful realization, and one you had to learn to accept if you were going to make a name for yourself. You were more than just some bozo’s personal maid. You were a sharp mind, a skilled writer, and a tenacious spirit. And you were going to prove every jackass who thought that way including Benny wrong.
"Fuck 'em," you murmured, the alcohol making you bolder as you went into the payphone booth to call a taxi.
You didn't need anyone's approval or permission to do your job, and you damn well knew it.
You dialed the number for the taxi service and they promised a cab within the next 15 minutes. You sighed and leaned against the cool glass of the phone booth, trying to clear your mind. "Hey" a deep voice pulled you out of your thoughts. There was Frankie, leaning against the booth door, his expression unreadable.
"Are you leaving?"
"Yeah," you replied, feeling a twinge of guilt. "I'm sorry, I just-"
"No, I get it," Frankie cut you off, "I saw what happened back there and Will told us that Benny was being an asshole. I'm really sorry about that. He's usually a decent guy, but when he drinks..."
"It's alright. He's not the first asshole I've had to deal with and he won't be the last." You tried to sound more nonchalant than you felt.
Frankie carefully looked at you, you cursed yourself for feeling so exposed in his gaze. “Do you have a ride back to the hotel?”
You nodded, "Yeah, the taxi will be here soon. I should probably go wait for it, I'm sorry."
"Don't be," Frankie said, "If you want some company, I can go back with you. I'm not really in the mood to be around a bunch of drunk assholes, myself."
The offer caught you off guard, but the idea of having Frankie as company seemed comforting. "That would be...nice, actually."
-----------------------------------------------------
You nursed a whiskey, the ice clinking against the glass as you swirled it absentmindedly. The bar at the hotel was dimly lit, casting long shadows over the bottles that lined the shelves and reflected in the mirror behind them. Frankie slid onto the stool beside you, coming back from the bathroom.
"Another round?" he asked, his voice low and rough.
"Let’s do it." You smiled, the corners of your eyes crinkling. Frankie matched your smile and ordered for the both of you. You liked that he knew what you wanted without needing to ask. He sighed, the tension easing from his broad shoulders as he leaned back, resting his elbows on the bar.
"So," he continued, turning towards you, "how's the article coming along?"
"Slowly but surely," you replied, your eyes tracing the edge of your glass. "I feel like I'm still getting used to all of this."
"Honestly?" He looks thoughtful as he takes his hat off and cards through his dark curls. "It's kind of hard for us, too."
You raise your eyebrows at him, curious.
"Yeah," he continues, "I mean, it's been a lot to adjust to. And it's not just the crazy schedule and the traveling, the fans. Trying to fit my daughter into all of this. It's the media and the pressure and all the expectations. It's a lot to take in."
"I bet," you agree, nodding slowly. "But I can see how it would be pretty exciting, too.”
Frankie hums in agreement, "It is. It's just a lot. It's like, this is something we never thought was actually possible and now that it's happening, I don't know, I just never really expected it to be like this."
"Like what?"
He shrugs, "I don't know. So big. So fast. I guess I just always thought we'd have more time to enjoy it, you know? Before it all gets so crazy."
You give him a small smile, "I get that. But nights like tonight, where the whole bar wants to buy you a drink, should be easy to enjoy."
"Yeah," he agrees, a crooked smile tugging at the corner of his mouth, "you're right. Unless your drunk bandmate decides to bother the sweet Rolling Stone reporter to where she wants to leave the party."
You feel the warmth of a blush creeping up your neck, "It wasn't really that bad, I just..."
"You don't have to explain," he interrupts, his voice gentle. "Just because this is your job doesn't mean people can talk to you like that."
You take a sip of your newly placed drink, feeling the burn of the whiskey as it spreads warmth through your body.
"I know," you agree, "but I'm used to it. The industry is a man's world and women, especially journalists, are seen as outsiders. It's just part of the job, I guess."
Frankie lets out a low whistle, "It sounds like a lot of bullshit, honestly. But hey, if you're tough enough to handle all of that, you're tough enough to handle whatever comes your way."
You smile at him, appreciating his support. "Thanks, Frankie. I really appreciate it."
He nods, "Of course. Like I said, if you ever need anything, just know I've got your back."
You take another sip of your drink, feeling the tension of the night begin to fade. The liquor was doing a great job of releasing any inhibitions or shyness you had with Frankie. The two of you talked and laughed about everything.
There was something comforting about his steady presence, his warm laughter resonating with your own. As the night wore on, the bar began to empty out, the loud chatter and clinking glasses giving way to the soft hum of a late-night radio. "My Love" by Paul McCartney & Wings filled the air.
"God, I love this song." You said, leaning against him. “This might be controversial but McCartney is way better than Lennon."
"Lennon has passion, though. He's a rebel," Frankie countered, a smile on his lips.
"I have to say, though, radio never does a song justice," you mused. "You lose the depth—the soul of the vinyl."
"Couldn't agree more." Frankie looked down at you, his eyes softening.
Those damn brown eyes.
"Then maybe..." Frankie began, hesitation making his voice just a bit uneven, but before he could finish his thought, the bartender made an announcement- "Last call!”
You both glanced at your watches, realizing how late it was. Where had the time gone?
“Guess we lost track of time,” you said, a little surprised.
Frankie rubbed his chin thoughtfully, "Yeah," he agreed. “I guess we did.”
The words hung in the air, heavy with unspoken thoughts and feelings that neither of you were quite ready to articulate.
"Hey," You perked up. "I brought my Red Rose Speedway vinyl."
He stood up and offered you his hand, "How about we get out of here and give it a proper listen?"
You hesitated for a second before taking it. His hand was warm, fingers firm against your own, and you felt the uninvited familiarity of those damn butterflies.
"I think I'd love that," you answered with a small smile that reflected in his eyes.
You hesitated for a second before taking it. His hand was warm, fingers firm against your own, and you felt the uninvited familiarity of those damn butterflies.
—-----------------------------------------------------------------
You couldn’t believe he was on your hotel room couch.
His large body sprawled out on the floral pattern, elbow resting on the armrest and head propped up by his hand as he watched you rummage through your luggage. The dull light from the lone lamp in the corner of the room cast long shadows across his features, accentuating his strong jawline and nose.
"Got it," you exclaimed, triumphantly holding up the vinyl.
He looked over at you with eager eyes, a smile playing on his lips.
You placed the small record player on the table next to the couch, carefully placing the record on the turntable and lowering the needle. The crackle of anticipation filled the room as the music began to play. You sat down on the couch next to Frankie, his presence a warm and reassuring closeness in the low-lit room. The opening notes of "Big Barn Bed" flooded into the room.
"I can try to skip it to 'My Love' if you want me to." You suggested.
"No, I like it. I like it a lot," he replied, his eyes fixed on you.
The two of you sat in silence as the song played, the air between you thick with tension. As the last notes of the song faded away, you turned to look at Frankie, your eyes meeting his.
"What do you think?" You asked, your voice barely above a whisper.
His gaze remained steady on your face, the corners of his mouth twitching into a soft smile. "I think," he began, his voice matching yours in its whisper-soft delivery, "I think I needed this...a little bit of music, a little bit of normality. And you."
"I needed this too," you admitted softly.
His hand found yours on the couch, fingers entwining with a comforting familiarity. The intimacy of the moment sent a swell of warmth through your body.
Frankie's gaze never left yours as he leaned in closer, his eyes searching yours for permission. You found yourself holding your breath, your heart pounding against your chest as he closed the distance between you.
His lips met yours in a soft, slow kiss that made your head spin.
"Is this okay?" he murmured against your lips, pulling back slightly to study your expression.
"Yes," you wrapped your hands around his neck. "It's more than okay."
Your lips met again, deepening the kiss and asking for more. He tasted like smokey liquor and cigarettes
His arms tightened around you, pulling you closer, your bodies molding together on that floral pattern couch.
You moved to straddle him on the couch, the flowing skirt from your mini-dress bunching up around your waist as you moved.
Frankie's hands came to rest on your hips, thumbs tracing small circles through the thin fabric of your dress. Looking into your eyes for permission, he started to slowly lift the hem, his touch on your bare skin.
Your hands drifted to his hair, tangling your fingers in the dark curls and removing his hat. There was an urgency in his movements now, a raw need that echoed your own.
His lips, hot and insistent, traced a path down your neck and you began to move against him, riding out the want building within you.
Without hesitation, he lifted you from the couch and carried you to the spacious bed on the other side of the room. He laid you down gently and you lifted your arms, allowing him to carefully pull the dress over your head and toss it aside. His eyes raked over your bare body, your breasts exposed to his intense gaze.
"Took my damn breath away," he murmured. He removed his clothes except for his underwear, exposing his tanned chest and soft belly.
Then, with a gentle push, he allowed himself to be pulled down onto the bed next to you, both of you inhaling sharply as skin met skin. His hand traced a gentle path from your shoulder down to your waist, ending his trail between your legs.
His thumb found your swollen clit, gently circling it. Your hips bucked in response, a soft moan escaping your lips. His fingers slipped lower, sliding into you with ease. His eyes stayed locked on yours the entire time, drinking in every reaction, every shudder of pleasure that coursed through you.
Your hand found his hard length, trapped in the fabric of his underwear. Without a pause, you slipped your hand within the elastic band and drew him out.
A low, guttural moan came out of him as you stroked his thick cock, pre-cum already beading at the tip.
"You're gonna kill me," he growled, his hips thrusting involuntarily into your touch.
He shallowly thrust his thick fingers inside you, matching the rhythm of your hand on him. Your soft moans filled the room, mingling with the faint strains of the next song on the vinyl.
When you came, his mouth found yours again, swallowing your gasps and moans as he helped you come down. His thumb was still gently circling your clit.
He removed his fingers from you and gripped your wrist, gently but firmly. His eyes searched yours, a silent question written on his features. You nodded, understanding his need.
Your bodies shifted on the soft bed sheets, Frankie positioning himself between your legs. He leaned in close, his lips brushing against yours.
"Tell me you want this," he whispered.
"I want this." Your words were breathless, barely audible.
He slid into you slowly, filling you completely. Your fingers dug into the muscles of his back as he buried his face in the crook of your neck, groaning against your skin.
"Oh fuck," he grunted.
The feeling of him inside you was unreal, his thick length stretching and filling you in ways that nobody had ever done before. He slowly inched himself into you until he bottomed out, and for a moment the two of you just stayed there, breathing each other in; the whiskey, the weed, the road. You both smelled the same but also so different, and you both wanted to know more.
"Fuck, baby." He breathed.
And then he began to move. His hips rocked back and forth in a steady rhythm, his cock gliding in and out of you. You matched his rhythm, wrapping your legs around his waist and urging him deeper.
You both moved together, lost in the sensation of each other's bodies. The sound of skin slapping skin filled the air, mixed with the faint music still drifting in from the record player.
He lifted his head, his gaze fixed on yours as he continued his slow thrusts. His hands roamed your body, squeezing and pinching your breasts and ass, exploring every inch of you.
You gripped the back of his neck, pulling him down into a passionate kiss. His tongue traced your lips before entering your mouth, deepening the kiss.
His pace began to quicken, the friction between you building. His cock filled you completely, hitting all the right spots, and the pleasure was almost overwhelming.
"Fuck, I'm so close." He grunted, his hands gripping your hips as he thrust deeper.
He reached between your bodies, his thumb finding your clit again and applying the perfect amount of pressure.
It was enough to send you over the edge. Your orgasm washed over you in waves, his name tumbling from your lips as you clung to him.
He came a few seconds later, his cock throbbing inside you and spilling his cum into you.
"Fuck." His forehead pressed against yours, his breathing ragged.
He rolled off you and lay down on the bed beside you, the both of you coming down from your high. He pulled you close, your head resting on his chest.
The record was still spinning, the soft crackle of the vinyl the only sound in the room.
"Holy shit." You murmured, trailing your fingers along his chest.
He nodded, a crooked smile tugging at his lips. "Yeah. Holy shit."
You both laughed, the tension in the air broken by mutual satisfaction, what felt like a great exhale to your tension. You rested your chin on his chest, gazing up at him.
"Thank you," you whispered, suddenly feeling shy.
"For what?" He raised an eyebrow.
"For... well, for everything. For tonight, and for just being you." You smiled at him.
He grinned, his hand coming up to cup your cheek. "Thank you, too. This was the best night I've had in a long time."
You leaned into his touch, your eyes closing briefly. "Me, too."
The two of you lay in silence for a while, content to just be close. His arm was wrapped around your shoulders, his fingers idly playing with your hair.
"Frankie..." You whispered.
"Hmm?" He responded, his voice soft.
"If you're tired, you can stay..." You trailed off, suddenly unsure of yourself. Maybe this was all too forward?
He pulled you closer, planting a kiss on the top of your head. "I'd like that," he murmured, his eyes already beginning to droop closed.
You smiled, snuggling closer to him and feeling his heartbeat against your skin. The night had ended up being more than either of you expected, and it seemed the morning would be no different.
The two of you fell asleep, tangled together, as the vinyl record finally stopped spinning and the night came to a quiet end.

RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH I literally cannot put into words how much I loved the latest Damnation au chapter- I was literally seconds away from putting my phone down to get back to work but as soon as I saw a glimpse of the fic, I just couldn't help but put everything on hold
I was really impressed with how you included Epel into the story in a way that just about correlated to Epel in canon (like how he was actively opposed to hit position in the castle). Like taking into consideration of the time period and the possible reasons why Epel would be relevant there in the first place despite not being in the original tale- SO WELL DONE!! Not to mention Vil going out of his way to find potential successors really emphasizes his hatred for Neige (poor guy😭) Also the way you write about Rook??? I knew he'd be creepy but gyat damn your writing only increased the feeling of it ten-fold. Especially in that scene after he climbed through the window and interrupted MC and Vil- Literally foaming at the mouth i was like 'holy crap this is it, we're gonna get exposed' cause aint no way Rook WOULDN'T know. Everything about him was unnerving yet so charming?? I really don't know how you do it but the way you just write them is just so accurate👏
As a Vil simp, every scene with him in it had be giggling and kicking my feet✨ I was pleasantly surprised with his advances towards the MC though- like hubba hubba... I ain't complaining though! The tension in those scenes were just *chefs kiss* Every moment with him just oozed authority and power, like I'd be on the edge of my metaphorical seat just waiting for the moment he calls out the MC
Like holy crap you really know how to set your scenes- like legit every time I Rook or Vil were in a scene, it genuinely felt tense. Also props to MC for looking out for #1 (themselves) even at the expense of ruining someone else
Anyway excuse my rambling lmao i'm definitely gonna be re-reading it again ^^
Sounds like another happy reader. And yes, Epel's part was difficult. Mainly because, well, Epel is based off the poisoned apple, so how is he supposed to play that role? In my mind, the poisoned apple is a tool used by the Evil Queen. So, what is similar to a tool? A person to manipulate, which is how I came up with the idea of heir. Combined with the fact that Vil obviously takes a shine to Epel, as he spends time meticulously perfecting his habits and mannerisms in-game. Which fit the scenario I was to use, of a King claiming an heir and drilling instructions and behaviors in their mind to manipulate.
Rook and Vil were easy to place into roles, due to who they're based off of. But it was difficult coming up with scenes for them, since the Huntsman and Evil Queen don't have a lot in the movies. Especially the Huntsman.
For Rook, I actually considered writing a scene were MC followed him as he scoped out the meadow or the moment when Rook was to escort Neige to the meadow, but ultimately I decided against that as it would overcomplicate the plot and give more time to Neige instead of Rook. I needed a way to properly portray Rook's watchfulness and the unease it spawns, which I figured should fit the setting. A carefully worded conversation knit of lies and unsaid threats and fears is much more effective when the reader is picturing hollowed stone halls of a palace instead of a colorful meadow. At least, that was my thought process there, which is why most interactions with Rook are in settings such as those.
And finally, Vil, who I decided to write a few more interesting scenes for purely because I know a good amount of my followers love that pretty man. There were multiple concepts and scrapped ideas I've already forgotten by now, different things that never made it to my keyboard, like a tense dinner scene and back-and-forth bickering. But some of those just didn't fit the feeling I wanted, or was out of character for either the MC or others.
Anyways, now I'm rambling. Sorry. I hope the second read was just as enjoyable as the first!
