Author’s note; Sorry guys for being so inconsistent about posting guys! i promise i’ll do better but i was kinda distracted with a dina fic i’m writing🧍🏽‍♀️anyways this is the end, i hope you guys enjoy it! also i know this feels slightly rushed so i’m sorry for that :/

“I knew i’d find ya’ here,” Joel’s voice was oddly gruff but soft at the same time. He was loud enough for you to hear, even from the different distances. It was nice hearing his voice. You heard the rocks under his feet crunch together, making noise as he got closer and closer to your hiding spot. You were hiding in the tree house that was built into a large tree. The tree house was small but big enough for you, even though you built it when you were younger. It was surprisingly stable.

You didn’t say anything, and just stayed where you were. Hopefully he would think that you weren’t in here if you weren’t responding to him. “Kiddo, get down from there and talk to me. I ain’t gonna leave, so you can’t hide from me.”

You sighed quietly, and crawled towards the door- which in reality was just an old blanket that covered the entrance. You hated how noble Joel was. Your head peaked through the fabric. “Did Maria send you? Tell her i’m okay, i’m just sick.”

“Actually, i came here on my own. I’ve just… Noticed the changes between you and Ellie these past few days… I think if you could just talk to her-“

“Joel, this won’t get fixed by just talking. I fucked up this time.”

“What did you do…?” Joel questioned curiously. You looked away and decided to stay quiet as you clenched your jaw. Joel looked down at the ground awkwardly, noticing the look on your face. “I know y’all kids think i don’t know anything… But i’m not dumb. People talk… I’m just waiting for her to tell me so… whatever it is, i can guarantee that i won’t judge.”

You bit your lip, and decided it would be better to talk to him. It was a little awkward when you first met but after continuously talking to him and hanging with him really changed that. He was one of the many people you were grateful for. You gave him a small smile. “I would invite you up but you’re kinda…”

“What? Too old? I’ll have ya’ know that i’m in the prime of my life.”

You bite the inside of your cheek to hide your laugh. “Fat. I meant fat, you would break the tree house.” You were joking, it wasn’t anything serious and he knew that.

“Oh yeah?”

“Yep.”

He hummed, giving you a mischievous smile. He then moved towards the tree, and started to slowly climb up the ladder without any hesitation. You retreated back to the spot you were in, and watched as Joel struggled to get in quietly. He then sat across from you. He was curious about the inside- it didn’t look as abandoned as he thought he would be. “Cozy,”

You laughed. “Thanks, i guess you never been up here, huh? You should’ve seen it when me and Ellie put fairy lights up…” Joel stayed quiet for a moment. You brought your knees up to your chest and let out a quiet sigh. “You know, she’d say something dumb like, ‘it’s Ellie and I’ or something.”

Joel felt like patting you on the back and saying ‘it would be okay’ but that wasn’t what you needed right now. You needed someone to talk to. He needed to be that person for you because of how much he cared about you and Ellie. “What happened?”

“You won’t judge me?” Your voice cracked at the question, and he could tell you were scared. He shook his head in response which made you feel slightly better. You covered your eyes with your hands in frustration. “Ellie found out that i… Have feelings for her.” Your voice was quiet, and he almost didn’t hear you.

He was quiet for what seemed like forever but in reality it was only a couple of seconds. “…And does she like you back?” He questioned in the softest way possible. You removed your hands from your eyes and decided to look at him.

“If she did we wouldn’t be up here…” You replied awkwardly.

“So… You two talked about it? And you’re certain that she doesn’t like you?”

You shook your head slowly at his questions. “No, i kinda just walked away before she could say anything… But i know she doesn’t like me because she’s-“

“Dating Cat.” Joel finished for you. He already knew about Ellie and Cat. Not much, but enough to know how they dote on each other. People talk, so mostly everyone knew about them. Joel was just waiting for Ellie to tell him, and she hasn’t.

You nodded. “Yeah. Dating fucking Cat.” You spat bitterly.

Joel sighed, and continued to watch you. He noticed a lot by just watching you. You were playing with your hands, almost as if you were trying to calm your down from the hurricane that is your brain. You looked pretty sad. “Alright, i’m tired of it. You needa’ stop moping. So, we’re going.”

“Where are we going?” You asked quickly and followed him down the tree house. He waited for you, and once you reached the pebbles on the floor he started moving ahead once again. All you could really do was follow him.

“Just follow me, kid.”

“No way! I can’t do this right now, at least let me get a drink or something! I need whiskey in my system before i can talk to her!”

You don’t know how it happened. You let Joel drag you around town- just so he could get you to let your guard down. His real plan was getting you to Ellie’s garage. He asked you to close your eyes and lead you somewhere- and that’s where you are now. Right behind his house, aka in front of Ellie’s door.

“What if Cat’s here? This’ll be really awkward and pretty messed up.!” He was dragging you by your collar now, just so you couldn’t run away. You hated how strong he was. He then knocked on her door, and your skin shivered anxiously. You didn’t want to be here. You weren’t ready.

“Sorry, kid. In life, you gotta face your problems one way or another. I’m just giving you a gentle push.”

“More like a forceful shove!”

“Quit your whinin’. You need this. Closure or whatever you kids are saying these days.”

“Joel!-“

The door lock clicking caught your attention, then the door opened slowly. It revealed a very tired looking Ellie. She looked up at Joel and then down at you in surprise. “Sup..?”

Joel nodded in acknowledgment. “Heya, kiddo. Just thought i’d drop this off.” He let go of your collar, and suddenly you were on the floor. He turned on his heel and returned into his house through the back door. Fucking Joel, acting like i’m some sort of package. You couldn’t help think as you sat there.

“Fuck me,” You muttered lowly to yourself. You couldn’t even look up at Ellie. You were ashamed. You weren’t planning on telling Ellie about how you felt. Especially when you didn’t know if your feelings would last long. “This was a bad idea, i’m gonna go.” You stood up and brushed the dirt off your clothes.

You were about to walk- maybe even run away if it weren’t for Ellie talking first. “I never pegged you as a coward.”

You sighed, turning back to face her. To finally look at her. You noticed the bags under her eyes, that she looked paler than usual and her voice sounded hoarse. Seeing her this way made you sad. “Ellie…”

“No. You won’t talk right now.” She stopped you from speaking further. Maybe you deserved that. “Avoiding me, ignoring me and running away from me whenever i’m near? That’s all the things a coward would do. And that coward is you, y/n. I never thought that you were that type of person… You always faced your problems head on.”

Her arms were crossed over her chest, and she was leaning against her door. It was the support she needed at the moment. Her words were hitting you hard. It was like a wake up call, just what you needed to get out from the hole you found yourself in.

But you also felt like denying her words.

You scoffed, and took a few steps back from her. You felt even more far away from her then ever. “Look, Ellie what do you want from me? You know why. Why can’t we leave it at that and move on. Never talk about it again.”

“Right, cause’ this is something we can move on from… Y/n, I need to hear you say it.” She pushed herself off her door and slowly moved closer to you.

“I’m not gonna do that.”

“Why? Are you afraid? I never knew you were such a pussy.” The way those words left her lips made it seem like she wanted to piss you off, to push you over the edge. Just so she could get your reaction.

“Fuck you, ellie… God, why do you need to hear me say it? You and your girlfriend are fucked up for wanting me to say it despite knowing already.”

She hummed, and continued to take steps towards you. “Are you scared? Is that it? Why is it that this conversation scares you but not a pack of infected…?” You scoffed, and didn’t say anything. You didn’t want to. She ended up being a few inches away from you. You couldn’t look up at her. You’re scared of doing something that you’ll regret. God, you wished you had gotten a drink or something. Maybe then you could at least blame it on the alcohol.

“What are you so afraid of?” She questioned in a whisper. Ellie wanted you to say it, she wanted to confirm that you actually liked her. She needed to hear you say it. Not insinuate it, but to actually hear it from your lips. That’s what she wanted.

Your eyes travelled from the ground and slowly trailed up her body. Your eyes lingered on Ellie’s neck, and then stopped at her chapped lips. Instinctively, she licked her lips as she continued to stare at you. You swallowed lowly, finally finding yourself looking into her green eyes. “I’m scared that you won’t like it.” Again, your eyes flickered to her lips.

“I will.”

For a split second you’re happy. But then you remember Cat. You frown, and decided to take a step back. “You’re with Cat- in love with her. That’s what you said, isn’t it? I may be in love with you but i’m not gonna let you cheat on her.”

Ellie pressed her lips together, a nod and small smile on her lips. “You’re a good person, y/n. That’s one of the many things that i love about you..” Your stomach did a flip, but you tried to listen to her next words carefully. You couldn’t be distracted by her sweet words. “I broke up with Cat. As fucked up as it is… I was only with her to try and get over you.”

“So, what i’m getting from this conversation is… You’re single?”

She laughed, and walked closer to you. “Not for long i hope.” She winked- well, tried to to. It was a pretty bad wink. But it was cute that she tried.

“I feel bad for the next person who dates you… you’re infuriating.” You whispered, watching and you and Ellie inched closer to each other.

She grinned, and watched and you closed you eyes. “You love it.” She paused for a moment, just to tease you before she finally brings your lips together in a sweet kiss. Her hands trail down to your hips so you could be flushed against her body. Your arms wrap around her shoulders loosely. She groans when you nip at her lower lip, then slides her hand under your shirt. God… you’re so enticing, y/n. Ellie was only thinking of you in this moment.

“Oi! Y/n! Ellie! PDA!!” Joel’s head popped out from the kitchen window as he glared at you two playfully.

“Right,” You pushed away from Ellie’s lips. “Joel knows.”

Ellie nodded, a smile on her lips as she continued to look at you. She was awestruck. She finally got to kiss you, to hold you and in the future there would be more memories with you. More memorable memories. “I guess he does.” She peck you on the lips and grab your hands. “You’re with me, right?”

You nodded, squeezing her hands to comfort her. God, you loved her so much. There is nothing better than being with her. You wished you had told her your feelings sooner, way before Cat. Maybe things could’ve been different.

But things are back on track for you and Ellie, and will be for a long time. Your gut is telling you everything will be fine. “Always.”

As long as you were with Ellie, nothing could go wrong.

Ranking tfatws' episodes from "worst" to better, and with that I mean my least favorite to my ultimate favorite

I'm only doing this because I'm bored and all this is just my opinion so y'all relax cuz there's no problem if you disagree

6# Prower Broker (3rd episode)

I'm aware this the top favorite of majority and I like very much as well, but the pace is too rushed for me.

A lot of things happen and I don't feel like I was given the time to really appreciate and enjoy them because the plot was already moving forward.

Also, I see the challenge the writers had to tell us a lot of new facts and information but I still hate the way they do exposition, which is basically Zemo talking and explaining things all the fucking time. I didn't like because first it made Sam and Bucky (especially Sam) looking kinda dumb and second bacause to me felt a little inconsistent to the Zemo we know from Civil War (although I love him dancing).

Things I LOVE about this episode:

Zemo breaking out of jail

Madripoor aesthetics

Sharon fight sequence (being one of the best fight sequences on the MCU)

Sam and Bucky checking if the other was fine 83907462 times (When I officially declared: Ok, I'm shipping those idiots)

Ayo appearing at the end (I literally screamed)

#5 The Star-Spangled Man (2nd episode)

I don't have much to complain about this episode, it's just not that special for me.

I do remember thinking when watching for the first time that they was rushing things too much, then when episode 3 came out I was legit worried about the possibility that the pace would only get faster.

Let me explain why I don't like when things happen too quick, and I'm aware this is just a personal preference, but to me it feels that the plot is more a "to do list" than an story, not really focusing on character development.

Anyway, episode 2 is not that much rushed, I just wasn't expecting to Sam and Bucky already start working together since all we know of their relationship from the first episode is that Bucky is ignoring Sam texts.

Things I LOVE about this episode:

John Walker's introduction

Sambucky rolling in the field

Isaiah's introduction

Sam being stopped by a cop (I actually almost burst in anger watching but I loved that they put it on the show so I knew that they wouldn't avoid or sugarcoat the topic)

Couple's therapy!!

The ending with Zemo's introduction with that epic song!

#4 One World, One people (6th episode)

My feelings about the last episode are kinda tricky. My heart wants to scream "OMG THIS IS SO PERFECT!!" while my brain is like "Ugh, not really."

If I watch coldly I can admit there's actually more "flaws" then the 2nd episode, especially considering it's the show's finale. The closure of this story, Sam's first performance as Captain America and Bucky being seen as a Hero by the people inside the universe for the first time deserved better and more memorable fight sequences in my opinion and some times it's really confusing to understand where they are fighting.

Also, annoys me how each episode they show us how Karli's crew were uncomfortable with how violent she's acting, and then in the finale they show that again but nothing else happens, they follow her either way.

But there's so much that I FUCKING LOVE in this episode, and when I say that I mean that I bounced between screaming with excitement and sobbing like a child while watching it.

Bucky telling the truth to Mr. Nakajima (I start crying in that scene and then it just got worse)

The fucking barbecue!!! (Here it was tears of happiness for the newly married couple, and for them founding peace within themselves)

#3 The Whole World is Watching (4th episode)

All the episodes on top 3 are flawless and it was really hard for me to choose the order because my heart and my brain were screaming PERFECTION!!!

I mean, the only thing I have to complain is about Karli's plan of killing Walker, but after Lamar's death they all run way, it would be better if her plan was to kidnap him or something.

Apart from that, we literally have everything in this episode and to me is a great example of how a lot of things can happen without rush anything.

Detailing all the things I LOVE about this episode:

The beginning with Bucky's flashback in Wakanda is heartbreaking

The dynamic between Sam, Bucky and Zemo now there's no need to exposition is amazing

Zemo talking about his son to that little girl

The bickering between John Walker and Bucky

Karli speech at Mama Donya's funeral

Sam speaking with Karli

Sam saying without hesitation he would not take the serum

Walker and Lamar's conversation about the serum and what they did to receive medals

Karli threatening Sarah adding tension

"She said come alone." "I'm coming with you."🥺

Lamar's death ( I was like "wow they're getting really heavy")

The fucking ending with John killing that guy (I was in pure shock like "fuck they really really went heavy")

2# New World Order (1st episode)

So, I wasn't really that hyped for the show. I'm a MCU fan so I was waiting for it's released and expecting to be (what everyone was assuming it would be) a sort of buddy cop story with a lot of action and comedy just like their dynamic in Civil War, and I would definitely love that as well but I was happily surprised with a totally different thing.

I already talked about how I enjoy when stories take it's time to develop without hurry, but I also loooove introductions and beginnings. Is so pleasuring to get to knowing a character at their neutral phase and environment before their story and journey really start and I really loved that we got to see how Sam and Bucky are individually and far from each other before they need to work together.

And a well written first episode can summarize all what the show is going to be about, and it's exactly what happens here.

The first episode has a really special place in ny heart and I absolute love everything about it but I'll list any way:

Sam's opening fight/flight sequence showing the badass that he is

Torres' cute introduction

Rhodes supporting Sam even after the accident in Civil War speaks volumes

Sam struggling with the legacy of the shield

Bucky's amazing flashback/nightmare showing us without a single word how much he's suffering

Therapy bouncing with flashbacks so we know Bucky is lying and he's struggle to open about he's "weakness"

Everything related to Mr. Nakajima and how their relationship went from cute and funny to super sad and heavy showing Bucky's guilty without a single explicit word!!!

Sarah's introduction in which we get to kow the amazing woman she is

All the Wilson's siblings interactions

Sam unwillingness to let go the legacy of their parents' boat

God I realized this list was going to be too long!!! Anyway I LOVE THIS EPISODE!!!!

#1 Truth (5th episode (aka the boat episode))

Honestly, I consider this episode the show's finale and the 6th is more an epilogue (not exactly but kinda of).

The reasons I said I love beginnings is because you can't really messed up an story's introduction. It may be not that interesting but hardly will be really bad. That's not the case with endings, and a bad ending may ruin all the experience you had so far.

Seeing arcs being concluded and closed it's another level of cinematographic pleasure, and in tfatws' case a lot of it did not happens at the very last episode, but it doesn't feel less good.

And I know I'm being repetitive as fuck but I really love the slow pace.

All the scenes here are so powerful and carry so much emotional and thematically weight that I could spend hours talking about it.

Maybe some day I'll detail better all the amazing subtexts and everything that impact me but for now here's a list of EVERYTHING I FUCKING LOVE ABOUT THIS EPISODE:

The opening fight sequence of Walker vs Sam an Bucky and all what it meant (A lot was in take, it wasn't a random fight with random people like the one from the first episode or Sharon's fight at Madripoor (fight sequences that I love btw))

Sam passing the mantle of Falcon to Torres

Walker being punished by the government and his "I dedicated my life to yours mendates!" and "I'm Captain America!" (because is fucking true, John Walker's Cap is the real embodiment of USA)

Contessa Valentina Allegra de Fontaine

Bucky finally having closure with Zemo, dropping the bullets and showing that Zemo was wrong about him

Sam talking to Isaiah and getting to know his story so he can understand better the extra weight the shield comes with

The boat being finally fixed not by Sam alone but also by his family, loved ones, and his community

Bucky awaking on the couch and with a smile instead of panicking because of a nightmare on the floor

Bucky apologizing and understanding Sam's dilemma and also Sam helping him with his internals fights (aka the training/tough love session between those guys who should definitely kiss eachother, I mean did you see how quick Bucky admitted still having nightmares when he could bare tell the truth to his therapist???)

The Wilson's siblings talking about the boat's legacy and how they wouldn't give up on it

Sam deciding he would be Captain fucking America!!!! because it doesn't matter if it wouldn't let him, it doesn't matter if he doesn't have super strength, because even though this country has been erasing black people over 500 years he would shout that they are not surrendering and that they are fucking powerful!!!!!

The training montage showing through Sam's nephews the impact that him taking the mantle will have on next generations!!

I tried to summarize, sorry for failing.

Anyway, that's it. I really love TFATWS, it's definitely my favourite Marvel TV show, and even though I know it's not perfect it really touched me in a way that I definitely wasn't expecting from a Marvel Production.

The Brothers’ Reaction to MC smuggling in a pet from the Human World

Depressed MC asking the brothers to let her back into the human world to “grab something important” but won’t say what it is. Once back from the human world, they reveal that the item of importance is actually her pet. Let the battle to keep it commence!

Lucifer:

Being the observant guy he is, Luce notices MC’s change in mood rather quickly

Thinking maybe you were just having an off day, he didn’t say anything about it

But then the end of the week came and you still seemed out of it, lacking your usual enthusiasm

When finally approached about it, you wouldn’t meet his eyes

“There’s...something I need to get from home. Back in the human world...”

A moment of silent passes.

“Would you care to elaborate on what that may be?”

Avoided answering like the plague. Instead, a day of constant begging ensues.

This man is usually pretty resistant to such a thing, thanks to his brothers (especially Mammon).

Still, your their low mood mixed with his mild curiosity led him to give in.

Next day, he agreed to let you go, under the condition that you show him whatever items you took as soon as you’re back.

He never expected that the “something important” was going to be a small, chubby dog.

Cue the frustration

“MC, you are well aware that no animals are allowed in the dorm--”

“BUT YOU HAVE CERBERUS!”

“Cerberus doesn’t live in the dorm with us and actually serves a purpose--”

Angry Dog Mom™️ activated

For once, Lucifer is the one on the receiving end of the lecture as you list all of your dog’s important qualities and why you need your furbaby with you.

Man is stressed out just wants to be down with the conversation; time to choose his battles. Spoiler: he doesn’t choose this one.

Negotiation ensues. Outcome? Two weeks. MC gets a trial run for two weeks. If they can take care of the dog by themselves for two weeks without any major issues caused by the dog while also taking up the grocery shopping for the next month, the dog can stay.

This man does not have high hopes for the dog, but will humor MC for the time being.

Mammon:

Of course he’d know when his human was feeling down. Who do you think he is?

In truth, it took him about a day and half to realize that they were feeling sad and not just too busy to hang out.

To his credit, he didn’t wait around for MC to perk up on their own.

“Yo, what’s the big idea? If you’re sad, just say so!”

Don’t bother denying it; the poor boy is already worried.

“Mammon... I kinda need a favor...”

Boy wouldn’t admit it, but he was eager to do what ever he could to cheer you up

Until you say you need to get to the human world to grab something

He already knows he’ll be hanging from the ceiling when Lucifer finds out, but this boy just can’t say no to you.

Makes a few deals with some witches and has you out there the next day

Is confused as hell when you bring back a cage

“What even is that thing??”

“It’s my chinchilla, Kiwi.”

This boy is dead when Lucifer finds out, by hey, at least the little rodent is kinda cute?

Leviathan:

This boy was too absorbed in the anime to really notice anything wrong with you at first.

He was a big fan of the manga series the anime was based off so when he heard they made the anime for, Levi needed you to watch it with him.

When he had paused it to rant about an inconsistency between the manga and the anime however, he noticed you were spaced out

Poor boy is instantly insecure.

“Of course you’d ignore a waste-of-space otaku like me...”

“No, no! I’m sorry! It’s just...”

It takes a moment to explain why you zoned out.

“Levi...can you please help me get home? Just long enough to get what I need!”

Boy is lowkey worried that you actually plan to leave and not come back. After spending time reassuring him that you really do just mean a quick trip to grab something important from your home, he’s a little more comfortable with helping.

Luckily, your goals seem to align with his.

He recently found out that his favorite mangaka is doing a book signing in the human world, but Lucifer had already refused his request because he didn’t trust Levi to go alone.

So guess whose making this trip a reality? You!

The two of you go to Lucifer right away to beg him to let you to go to the human world just for a day.

Though still a bit iffy about his decision, he did eventually agree since he knew if Levi were to fall out of line for some reason and do something he shouldn’t, MC could use the power of their pact to bring his actions to a halt.

Mission one success!

Two days later, the two of you are on the way to the human world.

You had to spend the first couple hours of it in line at the manga shop so Levi could get his book signed.

Not as boring as you may think. You got to talk to Levi for a while and it was really cute seeing him all excited.

Once the boy got his book signed though, he was too absorbed in the fact that his favorite manga artist wrote on his book cover that he forget his end of the deal. This dude was totally ready to head home till you reminded him about why you’re here.

Right, onward to MC’s house.

Awkward boy is awkward. He waited outside as you rushed into your house so he didn’t have to deal with uncomfortable conversation with your family.

You eventually come out with a backpack full of who-knows-what and a fish bowl with a tiny, almost translucent fish.

“Okay, I got her! Let’s go home!”

“Wait, you have a fish too??”

You two would get in trouble if Lucifer found out you made an unapproved stop at home, so you decided to pretend that the fish is Levi’s for now.

He’s actually glad to know you both have another thing in common.

Satan:

It was just a normal Sunday afternoon. You were relaxing with Satan as you both read your individual books.

However, he looked up from his book to find your eyes staring out the window instead of on your book.

Satan knew since he saw you at breakfast earlier that morning that you were upset about something, but decided to wait and see if you’d to come to him first.

So far, that hasn’t happened yet. He sighed and lowered his book.

“Okay. So what is the problem?”

Denying it just receives an eyebrow raise from the blonde. Try again.

“Look...there something from home that I miss. Like, a lot.”

Even after asking a series of question about this ‘something’, all he got in return was a sad shrug.

“Do you think...is there any way I could go home and get it?”

Satan questions if the item is truly that important, but of course you say yes.

Only Diavolo and Lucifer can activate the teleport magic in the student council room because of a series of issues that took play like 50 years (three of them were Mammon’s while one was Levi’s) so now all of the brothers are locked out without explicit permission. Satan was never particularly interested in going to the human world before, but once Lucifer decided he wasn’t allowed to anymore, Satan started searching for a way to do so.

And he succeeded. Lucky you.

It took three days for the perfect opening. Lucifer had to handle some legal matters with Diavolo further to the west of the Devildom. He let everyone know at breakfast that he wouldn’t be back till later that evening.

The two got to MC’s house without any problems (well, except for Beel, but a promise to get him something from Madam Screams when they got back helped him to ‘forget’ the comment MC made about their trip before they left)

Your family was out when you got there so the two of you entered the house without distraction.

As soon as you entered, you started searching under the couches, behind the TV, in your room under your bed, various different spots.

Satan raised an eyebrow at your actions, curious about what you were searching for, but didn’t ask. After all, you already decided not to tell him earlier. He just had to be patient and see for himself.

While you did that, Satan wandered into the kitchen to see more of the house. That’s when he spied an orange ball of fluff on top of the fridge.

He smiled at the cat as it jumped down to counter to meet with him. Reaching out to pet the orange tabby, it purred against his hand.

“CHEESE!”

MC raced into the kitchen to embrace the cat.

“Cheese?”

“Yeah, her name’s Cheese.”

So this was what you were looking for. Hmm. That explains the secrecy, he supposed.

Not sure how you both are gonna hide the cat from Lucifer back at House of Lamentation, but hey, Satan’s all for cats.

Asmodeus:

Asmo was actually pretty observant when it came to your mood change.

He didn’t really ask about it though. Instead, he launched into just comforting and cheering up.

As soon as he saw the mood shift, it was officially a spa day; he had you take a nice relaxing bubble bath, lit scented candles, and even gave you a makeover. Picked out an outfit that he had been practically dying to see you in and did your hair and make up too.

Honestly, you did feel a lot better. All the attention Asmo was giving you really did help you cheer up and you even felt extra beautiful by the end of the night.

It was while he was doing your nails and you both were talking about anything and everything when you finally confessed to why you were so sad today.

“It just hurts, ya know? I know I really didn’t have a chance to bring it with me, but still...”

Before you even a chance to say what ‘it’ is, this boy already saying you should just go get it. As if it’s that easy.

Or is it?

The next day, he talks Lucifer into letting you both go grab a few things from your home in the human world.

Honestly, things should not have worked out as well as they did, but no complaints here.

When you get there, this boy is exploring every little corner of your house and isn’t even being subtle about.

Oh well, you start packing up different items from your room as he judges the brand of shampoo and skincare products in your bathroom.

Wasn’t as surprised you might think to find a ball python snake in your tub.

Boy has obviously dealt with bigger snakes in the past.

Decides to the charm the little boop noodle and comes into your bedroom with the snake on his shoulders.

“MC, look at this! Isn't this the cutest little thing I could find?”

“Oh nice! You found Lyla!” You smile. “She always finds away out of her tank, but I was worried about how far she made it.”

Asmo wasn’t particularly interested in helping you carrying the tank back so you had to call Beel to come help you.

You two are basically in trouble the moment you walk in to the door and Lucifer sees the snake.

You have to do the dishes for the next two weeks and Asmo has to pick up more days to cook dinner, but you somehow manage to keep the snake here with you.

Beelzebub:

Another brother who notices your sad mood fairly quickly

But he doesn’t really know what to do about or what to say

So he basically just tries to spend more time with you when he can so you aren’t stuck being sad and alone.

Starts walking you to class and doing homework with you more. He even skips his workouts some days so he can take you out some where and keep you away from your room.

He takes you out to eat a lot over the next week and you have to admit, it really does cheer you up when you see him happily munching on his favorite meal.

Beel’s presence is a mostly quiet one, but very comforting.

Still, you can’t help but to miss a certain piece of your home.

When the weekend comes, you finally confess to Beel about what has you down.

“Can’t I just...just real quick? I just want to stop at home to get something.”

He tries to ask about what it is specifically that you need, but you just get all fidgety and deflect from his question.

Poor boy is worried that he just upset you more by asking so he drops it.

Helps you get permission from Lucifer, who relents that it wouldn’t hurt for you to have more personal items here with you during your stay in the Devildom.

In the human world, you hadn’t even put your key in the lock before barking was heard from inside. As soon as the door opened, an excited husky jumped you.

You give out a big laugh as the dog puts its front paws on your shoulders and licks your face.

“Chaos, down! Down boy!” You say between laughs. I takes a minute for the good boy to settle down and put all his paws on the ground.

Beel’s original surprise melted away to a sweet smile.

The three of you went inside. As you went to grab a bag and gather different items, Beel sat on the couch (after his offer to help was rejected and he was told to relax).

The slightest movement made by the demon made the fluffy boy jump and let out small barks; he wants to play!

Beel finds a ball on the other side of the room and starts throwing it for the husky. The good boy duo plays fetch!

Eventually, MC comes back in the room, beaming at the sight.

“Aww you’re such good friends now!” You say before picking up a leash and calling Chaos to you. “Come on, boy; you get to come back with me.”

“...What?”

You explain to him that you came all this way for Chaos because you missed your big fluffy furbaby so much.

Sweet boy doesn’t have the heart to tell you no, that Chaos can’t come back with you.

Lucifer, on the other hand, had no issue telling you such when you got back

And, in fairness, its kinda hard to sell the idea that a dog named Chaos won’t cause any trouble in the dorm.

Beel steps up and says he’ll help you take care of the dog.

Lucifer let’s the dog stay

...for now

But if the dog does anything at all wrong, both of you are expected to take responsibly (and punishment) for it.

Belphie:

This boy noticed you started sleeping more, which was the telltale sign that you were feeling sad to him.

Believe me, this boy gets it

And honestly, seeing you turn down spending time with his brothers just hide away in your room to sleep, it hurt to much to see and really hit close to home

Like, only he is allowed to be that depressed. You’re suppose to be cheerfully buzzing around the house like always.

At first, he just kinda inserted himself in your nap times

I mean, he always felt a little better when you or Beel joined him, so it was a good place to start.

He was honestly kinda hurt when you rejected his offer and said you just wanted to be alone for a while.

It only made Sleepy Boy a bit grumpy though. He still laid right beside ya and wrapped an arm around you.

Sleepy Boy wasn’t accepting a no from you

Belphie wasn’t going to leave you alone because he knew all too well that just because you said it, doesn’t mean you actually want it.

“Watching you be like this is just making me sick. I’m not leaving you.”

So yeah, cuddle time is non-negotiable.

One day, you laid there, but couldn't really sleep.

Your problem was just spinning through your head. You wonder if you told Belphie... would help you? Could he help you?

"Hey, Belphie?"

Opens an eye just slightly to look at you.

"Is...is there anyway I could go home? A way that doesn't....doesn't involve Lucifer knowing?"

That got his attention and the boy wasn't too pleased. Opens both of his eyes.

"You've only been back for like a month and you already want to leave us?"

"No! Just...look."

You explain to him the situation and how you just want to grab something from home, but you know Lucifer wouldn't allow you to bring back what you need.

A chance to go behind Lucifer's back and piss him off? Well, why didn't you say so?

Gets help from the other member of the F.A.L.L. (Former Anti-Lucifer League), aka Satan.

Basically gets you home the same way you did in the Satan scenario, but with Belphie tagging along instead.

When you get to your house, you raced inside with Belphie just trailing behind.

Doesn't make it passed your living room, just kinda lays on your couch till you're done grabbing things from your room.

Has to be woken up from his nap when you're ready to leave.

You decide to wake him up in a cute way.

Sleepy boy wakes up to find a fluffy long-earred creature on his stomach.

"What the hell am I looking at?" He yawns.

"Its my bunny, Bella." You grin. "She says 'hi'."

He reaches out to pet the bun's soft fur.

Doesn't really ask anything about it.

I mean, if all it takes is a rabbit to make you happy then it's nothing to question.

Not sure how you'll be able to KEEP the rabbit with you in the Devildom, but hey, that's your problem when you both get back.

I need to write this down before I forget… so what was your opinion on the Raiden Shogun’s story arc? Tbh I felt hyped about it when it first came out but now that I am calm, I realize there are some glaring issues in the plot when it comes to tying loose ends…

For example, the fact that people died during the vision hunt decree and that there wasn’t any sort of political pushback on Raiden Shogun’s rule… or questioning the commissions? Or even the unsolved tension between Sangonomiya and Narukami inhabitants. Overall the story was rushed but had so much potential…

There’s too much to cover on how we COULD speculate how it could have ended, so I’m just gonna discuss Raiden Shogun. Personally, I felt that Raiden Shogun should have been demoted(?) from her role as ruler of Inazuma… too many mistakes and the fact that she stayed inside her head for so long does not sound like a capable leader to the inazumans… not to mention that she kinda ignored them too for so long…

I could imagine that if we were to go down this demoted route, Raiden Shogun would just.. be a literal figurehead, maybe realizing that she’s unfit to rule and that her vision of eternity won’t benefit her people so she in stead resorts to just being a symbol of eternity… their eternal god that watches and records their history… idk I’m just spitballing here and kinda drawing from my pedestrian knowledge… so what do you think?

Also note: not hating on Raiden, I love her design just story wise there’s some inconsistencies haha. Sorry for the text being so long 💦💦💦

OH MY GOD YOURE ENABLING ME TO TALK ABOUT THIS

I'm going to compare her a lot to Venti and Zhongli, because it's the only reference we have.

Salt under cut.

As a consumer of a video game, it was... well. Wasn't enjoyable but whatever, they were rushing the product.

As a writer, I fucking hate it. I hate it so much. I fucking hate it and honestly I can't even like Raiden for it. [I dislike Kokomi, not because of Kokomi herself, but she was written like a fucking idiot in the archon quest... Why did she pop up twice and the second time was her NOT NOTICING HER SOLDIERS COULD USE ELEMENTS???]

First off, Raiden's position of power. I still don't understand a lot about her in ways we do understand Venti and Zhongli. We know what they were before becoming Archons. Venti was a little wind sprite that wanted to bring hope to the people of Mondstadt, and to bring freedom in the way he couldn't bring to his friend. Zhongli was already a powerful dragon, and the first adeptus, and was more forced into the position, because they needed a surviving god to lead them. Zhongli was the strongest.

But... Raiden- we don't know anything. I haven't done intensive research, but that's the thing: I shouldn't need to do intensive research to understand a character. I don't know what she was before. Was she just a powerful human? How could a human compare to beings literally made of, and for, their element? [Again, Zhongli being an Earth Dragon, Venti being a Wind Sprite]. And, this does include her sister, but I won't focus on her because... well. She's dead. She's not who we're talking about.

I don't know what Raiden is, and why she is an Archon. It wasn't touched upon, which really made it not feel... real. The argument CAN be made that we learned about Venti later [Zhongli we learned, quite quickly, that he was a dragon- See: Exodia.] But we learned about Venti's past during his Personal quest. We didn't learn about Ei in her personal quest.

So we're off to a bad start- We don't know how she became an Archon. We do know she's more of an upfront leader, as most Archons are, but the first we've seen due to... Well. Zhongli and Venti. I could've forgiven this if it was touched upon in her personal quest- But it wasn't. Honestly, I don't know WHO Ei is. She seeks eternity. She's suffered from trauma, losing her sister, and her three best friends. But there's more to life than just a base trauma, and what her goal is. Zhongli is an ancient dragon, and god, who has always wanted to find peace between two parties, and has always fulfilled his duties of protecting the people that worshipped him. He's resigned from what he's suffered from, but he's not in the midst of his pain, and has grown past it. He's smart but violent when necessary- Someone who didn't want what he was given, but was forced into it. Venti is a soul that truly is as free as the wind, mostly just wanting to have fun, he cares a lot, but he also understands that all of life is a joke. He wants to enjoy it, and he trusts his people- He's there for them, watching over them with love, but he doesn't trust himself to rule... and he knows that, being a god of freedom, he cannot rule, or he will destroy the freedom he offered. But Ei? She wants eternity because she lost people, and if there's eternity, they will stay forever, and she will not suffer from loss ever again. Noble, but that's it. That's a very two-dimensional character, compared to Venti and Zhongli.

As for the political pushback- I can forgive that more, at least, for Raiden directly. She's an ARCHON. A GOD. People don't have a choice to fight her. Sure, they can try, but we already had the rebellion... So writing-wise, it wouldn't make sense to rebel, and then to rebel for more, when originally they wanted to keep Ei around, but just repeal the vision hunt. Still, it's... quite odd. It doesn't feel right, but I won't fight on it too hard. Besides, they wanted to introduce the audience to an Archon who rules directly- It's a tricky thing! Mondstadt is the most relatable as far as the god is concerned, because it only features a God we cannot see, and we just believe in. Not everyone is Christian, but we don't have gods in real life ordering us around. Then, Zhongli is only somewhat present, so it helps ease us into gods being more present and distancing Teyvat from our world. Raiden is just the next step forward- She's there, but sort of distant, and her 'Shogun' itself can be likened to a prophet- Still, not too shocking. We can be eased into seeing gods as leaders being normal in teyvat. So, fine, I can forgive that in the grand scheme of things.

I do think she, in a way, let herself become a figurehead. Not entirely, but I can see her acting more reserved- Granted in her personal quest, she was in seclusion, the Shogun pacing endlessly, but I can see her stepping back a little- She's there, and she will still seek eternity, but she loosens her grip on Inazuma, if only a little bit. But as far as anyone trying to 'demote' her... that wouldn't... work. Just- You wouldn't go to a literal god and demote them. If this was a setting closer to real life, of course, like if the President of the USA did something terrible, we could get them impeached. But it's just... Humans can't fight the gods directly head-on without facing death. That's what we need to learn in the context of Genshin Impact- It's not our world, and we cannot apply it to our world's standards at some places. You can't demote a god in the same way you'd demote a national leader.

I personally detest how she was done, however, and I feel that the entire thing was rushed and we were deprived of a lot of information that could've at least helped us UNDERSTAND Raiden- She didn't even fucking get redeemed, she's still the same person. She just realized that she can't push her people around, but theres no character development. She still clearly doesn't understand that she can't treat people like less than people.

TL;DR: This is a setting that's trying to get us accustomed to a world that is not our own, and goes by its own 'Rules', so it's important to remember that demoting a god isnt as easy as demoting a national leader... But as a whole, Raiden is infuriatingly poorly written, and I can't find a reason to care about her. Her trauma doesn't justify her actions, and she never developed as a character, making her boring and a poor set-up to the future Archons of Teyvat.

Here to throw my two cents into the whole idw sonic writers thing I’m seeing going around.

It’s a little long though so I’ll put it most it under a read more and leave a brief summary here.

TL;DR: Blaming the writers ignores the business side of the comics. For example, If SEGA wants Shadow to be a jerk, he’s gonna be a jerk. That’s not the writers fault and blaming them for it ignores SEGA’s part in all this. If you like Tangle and Whisper, you like their writing because they actually have more freedom with the original characters than the official. Don’t blame Flynn and Stanley for SEGA’s decisions.

I think it’s unfair to throw all of this back at the writers. We’ve seen that both are very good writers. I think it’s important to understand that IDW Sonic isn’t like Archie Sonic or Ghosts of the Future.

Archie Sonic was an absolute madhouse when it came to the writing and Ian Flynn came and cleaned up that mess. Once everything was sorted, he was allowed almost complete writing freedom until the Super Genesis Wave happened. After which some mandates were put in, but they didn’t keep the comic down. People still look back on the post-SGW comics fondly despite the removal of a good portion of the cast. That didn’t mean it didn’t have some problems, one of the biggest being the rushed telling of the Sonic Unleashed story and initial characterization of Werehog Sonic, but regardless of its issues people did enjoy them. The fact that people are willing to restore the remaining issues from the pencil sketches speaks volumes on how much people loved them despite the big changes.

Ian Flynn cleaned up Archie Sonic and before that fateful moment during the Zombot arc that “ruined Shadow’s character” very few people had anything bad to say about his writing. Heck, he’s the one responsible for creating the best version of Shadow across all Sonic media.

Regarding Evan Stanley, we’ve seen her writing in her fan comic (Ghosts of the Future, for those who don��t know). Again, excellent writing and with some excellent characters, both fan and official. What also says a lot about how much people like her writing is the fact she was brought on as a writer for an arc for Sonic Universe close to the of Archie Sonic’s run, and is now one of the main writers for the IDW comics now.

Both of them are clearly good at writing Sonic so what changed?

SEGA’s involvement of course. Sonic never really cared about the Archie run too much which let the writer’s pretty much do whatever they wanted. I’m sure there were at least some rules, but none that prevented at least half the notorious things from that run (The Slap, Charmy’s friend overdosing, Locke etc.). Some good came from this since no input from SEGA meant that official characters could be written however the writer of the issue wanted them to be written. Of course this did create inconsistencies in character personalities but it also allowed Flynn to write them however he wanted. Using Shadow as an example, he was a bit of a grump, but also a caring friend and teammate. According the SEGA, this is not his personality (since he has no friends) but that’s how Flynn decided to write him, and because of SEGA’s lax hold on the series at that point, that’s how he stayed all the way until the end of the Archie run.

IDW Sonic marked a new beginning for Sonic comics, not just in characters, plot and world but also SEGA’s involvement. According to Stanley, the writers have to stick to whatever notes SoA/SoJ sent saying how they want the characters portrayed. Something she said in an ask that also proves that SEGA is being more strict with their characters. “This is because of changes in how SEGA chooses to handle their licensing” (link to ask here). By the sound of it, it sounds like SEGA had little involvement in the Archie run and started doing more post-SGW. Not much but more than they ever did pre-SGW. Which lines up with what I suggested before.

Them being more strict with their licensing may prevent some of that trademark Archie Sonic craziness that was in a lot of the earlier issues, but it also prevents freedom when it comes to the writing of the official cast. Take a look at Tangle, Whisper and the other original IDW characters. From what I’ve seen everyone likes them and I believe it’s partly because the writers can write them however they want. SEGA doesn’t care about them as much as the official characters so the writers have almost complete control over them. Not so much for the official cast, which makes sense and saying that the writers should take personal responsibility ignores the business side of the comics.

This isn’t Archie and, now the SEGA actually cares about the comic and the “Sonic brand” as a whole, of course they’re going to be more strict with it. That doesn’t mean they can’t do anything, but the options for character development are very restricted because if SEGA wants Shadow to be jerk, the writers are gonna make him be a jerk. They are taking personal responsibility by trying to explain that but judging by the reactions I’m seeing people take it as them shifting the blame when it reality they’re just providing an official explanation.

It’s kinda like if someone commissioned me for a poster. I’m only told what colors to use and what kind of theme it should have. It comes out great and people like it. Then the same people commission a second poster but this time they tell me that want a specific palette, font and theme with specific objects on it that, for the sake of this example, don’t really fit the theme or go with the colors. They don’t approve any suggested changes which leaves me with no choice but to put everything they want in the poster. It comes out bad and people blame me for the ugliness of the poster. The client, however, loves it and I get paid anyway. That’s what’s happening with the IDW comics.

SEGA is giving them a strict guideline to follow with their characters. Of course, they’re willing to give some wiggle room and let new characters be thrown into the mix, but even if the writers wanted to change the personalities of the official characters and have them be more similar to their Archie versions, they can’t. They’re writing what SEGA wants and, rather than blame the people just doing their job, maybe blame SEGA for being too strict with their characters.

Yugioh Ep 34 S4: The Boys (and Mai) are Back in Town

OK, back to the writing table! It’s been a while! So I made the mistake of like...scrolling down on the playlist when I realized...

This duel is like 6 episodes long (7 even? It’s a lot) and like...yo I have no idea if we’ll finish this season in 2020! Damn you 2020. Damn you.

But wtv, what I like about this side project of mine is that I don’t have to rush things, and I can really spend the time with each episode and just...enjoy the moment. So often I watch a whole series in like half a week and then it’s like...I don’t get to enjoy it. This series I’ve enjoyed for years now. That’s kinda neat. So...we’re gonna be slow...but lets just enjoy this weird ass anime moment together. 2020 deadlines are all fake anyway. I’m not even sure if 2020 was a real thing that happened or like...an alternate universe opening a door and letting through just so many terrible ghosts. We might never know.

Last we left off, everyone has decided to hallucinate Dartz’ terrible backstory.

Unfortunately we have NO darts in the past. Was really hoping to see at least one darts reference in this entire season, just one darts board on his wall. But alas, we will not have a Season Zero death darts match with Dartz. (Man I need to get back to Season Zero. And FMA. And a lot of things)

I feel like if I watched the original version there would have been some things different. First off...what ocean? Second off...well, we’ll get to that. There’s some things I think were changed for English TV.

Including censoring the nude people like it’s James Cameron’s Avatar.

Fun fact did you know that James Cameron’s Avatar was supposed to be ass naked and that they were supposed to have like 8 cat nipples? Yeah.

Man, that movie was a mistake. I’m so glad we all decided to collectively forget James Cameron’s Avatar.

The actual locations of anything in Atlantis does not match up with it when it’s zoomed out. We have giant cities, we have sprawling wheat fields, and we have...THIS situation. This active volcano next to...pine trees?

I feel like they wanted it to feel vaguely Pompeii, since I know people like to put Atlantis in the Mediterranean. Maybe? Maybe that’s what they were going for here?

One of my top ten favorite Yugioh plot twists ever was finding out this episode that this snake who has no limbs somehow created these...rocks...that all of our main characters have been wearing and obsessing over this entire time.

And so this is my theory, this is the thesis of my Yugioh college paper. These rocks are turds. There’s no way these rocks aren’t turds. There’s no way this snake didn’t poop out a bunch of glowy magic stones and then stuff them into a volcano.

THE ROCKS WERE TURDS THE WHOLE TIME.

Seto spends this entire episode groveling that he isn’t playing cards that will absolutely kill him. Like Mokuba, Seto isn’t happy until he’s cheating death.

(I really wish we got more super past future tech. I love that type of concept art. Instead, we just got a lot of flying boats--the same boat that I think the team flew on in S1 when they went to Seto’s video game universe.

So those boats are 10,000 years old? They existed in the 10,000 year old Pangea, huh?

Neat.)

Anyway, lets take a gander at Princess Zelda circa Ocarina of Time.

SUPER princess Zelda, and I know it’s not 1:1 but damn it feels so much like a late 90′s Princess Zelda outfit to me. Check out that PURPLE. That low poly circlet. The random ass sword. The thick ass belt.

Also check out this super dead family.

Yo so this is a 00′s thing, a period of time where we liked to tell stories like LOST, with just a bunch of random ass plot twists in flashbacks instead of just...telling a story from start to finish. And can be a great and fun way to do it--but at the sacrifice of actually making me care about these characters while they were still alive.

Like I would have maybe cared about Chris and Ironheart dying if I had known that Dartz was killing his whole family? With...lightning strikes? But alas, these dumbasses decided NOT to tell us they were royal. It’s so strange both from a logical perspective and a storytelling perspective.

Man...missed opportunity, IMO, but I can see why they did it. The wanted the ‘Gotcha!’ I feel ambivalent about it, honestly.

And who am I kidding, people are still doing unpredictable plot twists this. It’s a way to tell a story. Is it the most impactful way? No. It’s...it’s a gotcha!

It’s at this point in the story that things start ramping up, but it’s not clear if it takes place over years or just a couple hours. People just start going a little cray and turning into Monsters.

Straight up, though--did they turn into monsters that already existed and are modern Duel Monster cards, or are the monsters from modern Duel Monsters cards actually descendants of Atlantis who were once human?

They don’t say, actually. Maybe...maybe every card was a human once. That would be a freakin weird Yugioh twist if Kuriboh was like a 45 year old dude.

PS Dartz was married...soak that in.

ROMANCE ON YUGIOH ALERT.

Love it every time. She was there for like...half a second, and Dartz was like throwing so much shade about how “only the people with evil in their hearts were turned” and it’s like...

...dude that’s your wife? OK then. I can see you guys got along real well.

Anyway, so long to the ship of IonaxDartz, you were here for even less than the amount of time that Seto dated Blue Eyes White Dragon in a hallucination, which kind of sets a new record for us.

This might be the shortest-lived ship in all of Yugioh and they have a 12 year old daughter and what I assume was a 12 year marriage for that entire time.

that is if they...HAD the concept of marriage 10,000 years ago on Atlantis Pangea island. Maybe?

I mean they might have not had the concept of dating and marriage yet because he gets over this like immediately. The show will never hover back to that time Dartz watched his own wife turn into a creature. We have no idea if he was like “OK honey lets uh...let just get you a haircut and maybe no one will notice?” We have no idea how long he was desperately trying to remain married to the beast that was no longer human and was also trying to eat everyone else in his court. We just don’t know.

Dartz just had a lot of other things to think about. He’s been King for like...a year...he’s only 21...he’s just doing a bad job at everything.

Anyway, Dad is here, but it’s a little too late to really do anything with the situation. Everyone is worshiping little snake turds. What can you really do about that?

After the rest of the surviving royal family was chased out of the castle, Dartz decides to just wave his hands around a lot.

I’m not entirely sure what Kings do...never really had one...but I think they’re supposed to do more than wave their hands at a crowd like the Pope. Like...everyone’s dead right? Like everyone?

Meanwhile, Chris and Ironheart decide to revive some monster tablets to get some real actual duel monsters to do their bidding.

So apparently some monsters are in the tablets, and other’s have just always been here...and...

They didn’t know violence but they did have the cards?

There’s a lot of vague stuff they didn’t feel like ever writing, because it would have probably been boring to write about. I guess we’ll just let our imagination fill in the rest and ignore all the inconsistencies. It’s a kid’s anime. well........kind of a kid’s anime. A lot of people have died this episode and I don’t even know how to add it to the death count.

How many people live in Atlantis? I dunno.

Are the inhabitants of Atlantis even dead, or are they just turned into Monster cards? I dunno. Clearly the Great Leviathan wasn’t awoken this first battle so...did all those souls get returned? I dunno.

Either way I’m not gonna bother the death count about it because I just do not know if they died, and since it was neither an implied death or an on screen death...I dunno.

Just feels like a bit of a translation snafu--where maybe they couldn’t kill that many people on English TV, so they were like “AND IT’S A DRAW!” but also...it could be canon to both versions. The leviathan didn’t work the first time, maybe no one died? I dunno.

In this shot, PS, Raphael just gently backs up out of this flying plane, and it looked really funny to me. I probs won’t cap it because it’s split between two other cuts, but just...they just kind of moved that sprite to the right really slowly, no animation, it was great.

Dartz decides to end the backstory hallucination, and we get introduced to a new twist--a better twist than that last one, that’s right, all our boys are cards!

Yes, I looked back to earlier episodes this season to see what was going on with Pegasus’ new look. I think what happened is that it’s always been this shade of gray purple--but when you put purple next to it’s opposing color (which is yellow colors) it looks even MORE purple. It’s just how color works. Love color theory. mm. Good stuff. Good purple hair.

I can’t wait until Yami kills Yugi for the 3rd time in one season.

wotb vrs warriors (me rambling about my opinion)

so i’d like to preface by saying absolutely no judgement for ppl who like warriors. this is just my personal complaints with it, i honestly like a lot of warrior fan content tbh.

also it’s been quite a while since i read the books, i only got up to shattered sky. this is kinda going on vague memories and how i felt when i was reading it

so my problem with warriors is that it often feels flat. there’s very few friendships that feel real, most of those being siblings, couples feel rushed and out of place, family relations are often ignored unless it’s like plot important, adoptive family isn’t treated like real family, etc

another thing is there’s no arts or celebrations, and barely any types of games. this might sound petty but those things help give life to these types of stories. the warriors lead such dreary lives, each day is just doing their duties over and over. celebrations help break up dry spells of nothing happening without having to resort to things like badgers or less prey.

i think the clan olympics in po3 was amazing, it was the exactly the kinda thing warriors needed it, and yet they scrapped it. i just want some sort of event cats get excited about y’now?

another big problem is the inconsistency. from wrong fur colors, eye colors, forgetting family members, and more warriors is riddled with them. the problem is how many people work on the books. they need some sort of chart to keep track of everything at this point.

which leads me to my next point, too many characters not enough personality. there’s a million different cats, many of them void of much more personality than “motherly” or “hard working” with all these names and cats they get hard to keep track of and you end up with a clan entirely consistent of cousins or at least somewhat related.

not to mention warriors seem to think adoptive family is lesser. it’s so frustrating to watch. things like Squirrelflight saying they weren’t her kits was enough to make Ashfur sure killing them wouldn’t hurt her enough. or the way Violetshine’s adoptive mom treated her differently. it’s so incredibly annoying to read about.

that’s why i bring up Wolves of the beyond, i think it did a much better job of handling these things. it had celebrations, arts, games, adoptive family, lots of characters without being overwhelming or cardboard cutouts, etc.

for instance, certain wolves would sing stories, others nawed art or stories on bones, there was rituals, ceremonies, and parties, all that stuff that adds extra depth.

the main character shares equal respect for his adoptive and biological mother. he truly considers them both to be his mom and they both love him as a son.

two side characters find out they were adopted but that changes nothing to them. that wolf is still they’re mom, and when their adoptive mom has a new son, he becomes their little brother without question.

the main relationship was built up throughout all 6 books starting with a truly meaningful friendship.

that’s another thing, the wolves do seem to actually care about their friends. it feels more alive.

in the end wolves of the beyond left me a lot more satisfied than warriors due to all these and more factors. that being said if you prefer warriors i have no problem with that at all. this is just my personal thoughts on it

10 Things that would’ve Improved the Game of Thrones Final Season (For Me)

So it came to my attention that recently it was the First Anniversary of the Final Episode of HBO’s ‘Game of Thrones’. I was taken back to my memory of the BinGOT thing we had at work where we all made predictions of who lived, died and ‘won’ from the last ep (I was in 2nd or 3rd place). And since my mother has started binging it during quarantine I thought in the spirit of that environment I’d discuss a little what I would’ve changed in the final season.

Spoilers for Game of Thrones Season 8 Below, if you haven’t watched it then you’re better off not reading this frankly, if you haven’t been spoiled already at least.

So for starters, the final episode is not the worst tv I’ve ever seen, it just was a sloppy final season in general that really didn’t satisfy the 2 years of hype waiting for it, it’s like with the How I Met Your Mother finale, but that annoyance being more than one episode. But without further ado here are 10 things I would’ve changed about the final season Note: Most will involve the finale. The first 2 episodes were great.

10 - Ten Episodes The Long Night was 1 episode, the LONG NIGHT. A Culmination of the army of living and dead confined into one episode. One of the main problems with the final season was that the pacing was a bit rushed, it made character progression seem unnatural and dropped long-built plot points like water through a sieve. With 10 episodes, which was not a big ask given that this was the usual number and the gravitas of it being the final season would easily allow it to be green lit. D&D immediately backed themselves into a corner by giving a limit they weren’t used to and too much content to put in.

9 - Bite of the Spider Varys’ death was an upsetting start of the penultimate episode, while I would’ve loved him to have survived start to end and potentially ended on top (because he’s never shown to be as cunning or dangerous as he is in the books) there was some sense in him dying. However, Varys was shown sending a letter before his arrest and that never came back up, the finale could’ve used this by revealing to the public Jon’s true heritage, which would’ve immediately undermined Dany’s claim and set up a better conflict. Also we never knew what the voice in the flames said to him...

8 - A More Fitting Long Night While everyone probably popped hard for Arya killing the Night King, myself included, the nature of it was rather abrupt. I don’t think anyone can buy that she sneaked past that entire army. I do feel like the Night King was just a MacGuffin for the Long Night, given that he did so little in the actual fight. This is where a multi-part Long Night would’ve been key as well, going from the Night King being immune to Dragonfire to dying a bit later was not a good pace, and we lacked any conflict with Jon like we teased twice, Arya probably wasn’t the most poetic person to kill him either but GoT seldom did poetic deaths (Joffrey, Cersei, Euron). While the Long Night had exemplary deaths like Theon, Lyanna, Jorah and Beric, the Night King fell among the ranks of Melisandre and Edd in terms of meh deaths. The Long Night should’ve been a bigger bloodbath than it was, half the Dothraki somehow survived remember, we didn’t get to see Ghost fight at all either, no giant spiders, a lot of the tension was lost with the way some fight scenes were filmed; it was too easy to read between the lines and not enough characters had any true ‘oh god this person could die’ scenes.

7 - Resolution for the Characters we didn’t See and Plots unresolved With so much funding and finality in the show, there felt like there could’ve been more stuff that could’ve been resolved; what was the Quaith’s prophecy about? What really happened with the Doom of Valyria? Why does Dragonglass and Valyrian steel kill White Walkers? What is Daario doing after Dany died? Were the Faceless Men really that okay with letting Arya wander around knowing their skillset? Nobody hired them to help in the war either. What happened to the remnants of that warlock dude who stole the baby dragons, they sent one scorpion and that’s it, what happens with the Little Birds now that they’re leaderless? Who was Azor Ahai? What were the spirals about? There are a lot of questions the show kinda just, ignored.

6 - The Mad Queen So, Dany going from ‘I’ll stop if they surrender’ to ‘Burn them fucking all’ was abrupt for many, the majority of fans were not ready or willing to accept turning on their Kaleesi in just one episode. While I could see the conclusion coming from being jumped, losing another ‘child’ and her closest friend as well as her new boyfriend being her nephew and a legitimate threat to her legitimacy despite already pledging fealty, Dany’s descent could’ve used more time, and less naivety. While the death of the dragon was a huge shock, the idiocy fell on Dany in thinking that Cersei would play fair and wouldn’t try to occupy Dragonstone while she abandoned it. There also fell inconsistency when the same fleet and rows of Scorpion crossbows suddenly got Stormtrooper aim during ‘The Bells’. Euron is a renowned sailor, he ruined a Dornish fleet in a previous season, he may be an annoying bastard but you have to treat his naval tactics with a bit more respect - and make Dany less stupid with Cersei doing Cersei things. A lot of people definitely needed more time in buying the idea that Dany had lost her cool and that she blamed all of Westeros to justify burning everyone unashamedly.

5 - Proper Redemption We all know who we’re talking about. Jaime, Jaime, Jaime. In the end he just proved Olenna’s point didn’t he? And his turn away from redemption was only to serve as an example point for Tyrion to use to convince Jon to kill Dany. Jaime didn’t have to live, but he didn’t have to die rushing to Cersei’s rescue, or even due to Euron stabbing him. If anything Jaime should’ve died with some Honour, to be the inverse of Ned as he was presented in Season 1.

4 - My Lady does not have to mean M’Lady This is probably the most selfish ones of my 10 but as a shipper at my very heart and soul I wanted one, at least one, ship to survive this entire turmoil and Gendry and Arya were that couple. We almost had it as well, but then for some mad reason D&D decided that Gendry, despite literally saying that “none of it will be worthwhile if you’re not with me”, stayed in Storm’s End. Arya’s character endgame was right in her venturing off not being bound by the fact that she’s a noble, but Gendry spent a lot of time not caring that he was of Kingsblood to basically being his Father’s son. He’ll rule Storm’s End, marry some woman to have kids, but he’ll still have fallen into the same pit as King Robert did. It would’ve been much more satisfying and hopeful if Gendry abandoned the titles and land he never wanted or needed to accompany someone he loves and who loves him back on an adventure into the unknown. She’s not a ‘lady’ if she’s only marrying a blacksmith and love is the death of duty.

3 - Sansa is NOT Smart (and gets what she actually deserves) Right. So I really, really didn’t like Sansa. Like, I get it, she got held hostage by the Lannisters, watched her father get beheaded, got accused of murder, learned that her brother and mother died, watched the guy who fancied her mother and kissed her kill her aunt and then got effectively sold to an abuser in an arranged marriage. But Sansa is not the smartest player in the game, it was annoying that they tried to portray her as one, she had one idea that anyone could’ve told you ‘don’t be stupid against Ramsay Bolton’. She spent all of Season 8 mainly giving side eye like a petty bitch, completely trying to undermine Dany despite the two being very very similar (remember Dany was raped, sold off in an arranged marriage and watched family members get killed too) to the point where she was conspiring for Jon to usurp her. And in reality she took her ball and left, she was so pissy that the leaders didn’t pick her to be Queen of Westeros that she literally pointed out her own brother’s infertility, claimed that the North wouldn’t bow to a monarch, then declared herself Queen. Hide the ‘Yas Queen’ goggles for a sec, this wasn’t empowering she was throwing her own brother under the bus because she wanted to be queen, and she learned far too much from Littlefinger and Cersei’s playbook to actually be a just one. The North is allowed to be an independent nation, but Sansa’s ‘victory’ was more earned by virtue of a lot of shit happened to her than her actually demonstrating qualities to be queen.

2 - Bran Stark can’t come to the Phone right now... While we’re on the subject of Stark children not being fit rulers, Bran. What a cockamamie decision that was. I was 100% behind the destruction of the Iron Throne, but the chorus of laughter with a democratic rule was a bit of a slap in the face. Of all the choices though, Bran had to be near the bottom, it felt completely unearned that he spent literal seasons disconnecting from the world even to the point where he told Meera and Sam that Bran Stark is no longer here anymore only for Bran Stark to magically resurface when a crown is in waiting. I think it defeats the whole Three Eyed Raven thing too, the guy isn’t really one for the people, which is the problem every other ruler before him failed at. If you can’t pick a just person to lead, then why not a council instead? Just using Bran was a poor and messy decision.

1 - THE MOTHERFUCKING VALONQUAR One of the few expectations across all of Game of Thrones was the wondering over whether Cersei was gonna get what’s coming to her, the Maggy the Frog prophecy was going along quite well up until the Valonquar bit, where the younger sibling that was going to choke the life out of her was: bricks. BRICKS! Of all the long-winded prophecy foreshadowings to drop this one was the worst, Cersei (and Jaime) died in underwhelming, thoughtless fashion, the lack of fanfare on killing off one of the best and most ‘love to hate’ villains in the show only cemented the fact that the finale was not able to live up to the hype. True, most of these are small changes, but it’s worth remembering that there was some good coming out of the final season and it was the lack of those little things and attention to detail that led to the season ending on an underwhelming note.

We did however get a good ton of memes out of it, and at work a long-winded discussion on who should get the ‘winner’ 5-points (compared to the 1 correct points) since we had technically agreed that the 5 points goes to “whoever correctly guesses who sits on the Iron Throne” XD I still can’t believe I was right in Drogon melting the throne though that was one in a million

As of this writing I am 2 episodes away from finishing season 3 and its kind has been a whole mess of complaining around the apartment for the last few days. This show fails in so many different ways but its like...really close to being absolutely amazing. I have complicated feels

First off a Disclaimer

I thought Avatar was mostly great, though it had a lot of problems which I think its overall success and enthusiastic fan base kinda clouded, which are mostly found in the first half of season 1 and the last half of Season 3. Mostly that any time the show attempts simplicity, it does it badly. I thought Legend of Korra had some of the best moments in both shows, but also some of the worse, often seconds away from each other, but it at least tried some new things. So Dragon Prince has the components to be in my mind, even better than Avatar and there is a ton of stuff i like.

The Animation is amazing and unique

Some really cool fantasy vistas and locations

Cool distinct types of elves with cool unique magic and powers and cultures

Some great efforts towards increasing diversity in terms of race, and sexuality. Ironically it is actually less diverse in some ways than Avatar/Korra 100% non white cast, but it is very nice to have a fantasy world that is inclusive in regards to race and sexuality. Sadly it actually has a lot of problem with gender which i could talk about in a whole post another time if you are interested. (Dead Moms, so many dead moms)

I like both of the main characters, which is unusual for a fantasy series. Callum is fantastic, Rayla is great, and of course Claudia is by far the best character in the series. All of them have interesting motives, characterizations, dynamics and I enjoy seeing them on screen. The problem is that the show rarely uses them well

Magic looks awesome in this series, especially Dark Magic

The Show wants to delve into more complicated themes than most fantasy, and attempts to get at moral ambiguity, pacifism, questions of monarchy, the nature of villainy, racism, and pulling away from fantasy cliches, and it is really admirable. Unfortunately the show is really bad at actually delivering on any of these interesting themes, which makes the show a colossal mess

This show has a lot going for it. Except it...kinda fails on so many different levels. Each one of these could be a whole detailed post, so if you are interested let me know, but i’ll try to be brief on what doesn't work

The Role of Dark Magic.

Dark Magic is the core of the show’s plot and conflict. So its pretty frustrating about how the show completely fails to actually use this plot element correctly, because in contrast to like Maho from Legend of the Five Rings, or Mages from Dragon Age, its never really established why Dark Magic is evil. Like Claudia kills a deer in order to cure her brother of total paralysis, which...yeah that sounds like a good deal to me. Some of the characters get angry at Claudia for killing butterflies to make really good pancakes but like...pancakes are made with eggs. Which I suppose could be acceptable if the show as embracing a Jainism style world view, but it never bothers to deliver on that perspective or makes an argument for it, it just expects you to accept Dark Magic is wrong because Viren is a bit of a dick. And honestly, since humans are born without magic and Dark magic is a way for them to have a home, the opposition to Dark Magic frankly just feels...conservative. Like for all its inclusive casting the show really has an anti progress traditional feel to it which rubs me the wrong way. Which directly leads into

Problems with Themes. Fantasy stories usually are about moral themes, and Dragon Prince is no exception, a lot of scenes are delivered with a strong moral overtone. The problem is that it is utterly confused and inconsistent, usually approach the topic of Dark Magic. In the first 2 seasons, Viren is chided for “doing things the easy way” and even if ignore the libertarian undertones of that, most of the time, there isn’t really a hard way solution, and a ton of situations have Viren just being correct and characters ignoring him, or treating him like his ideas are far more nasty than they really are. This gets even more confusing when it comes to the shows attempts to address racism, because it keeps treating humans like they are the group with privilege, but according to the opening narration, the entire human population were basically forcibly located to the Western continent, which is often considered a genocide) and Rayla is casually racist to Callum regularly. More importantly, the show seems to want to do a Princess Mononoke pacifist argument, but keeps messing it up by its desire to simplify the conflicts it sets up. This gets worse when the show doubles down on the pro monarchist sentiments that underlie almost all fantasy. Which leads to

Being unwilling to commit to flawed characters. Dragon Prince seems to not want to just be another cliche fantasy story and keeps trying to add details to prevent the characters from just being cliches. however it doesn’t seem to want to commit to this, and keeps reverting to simplistic morality. Again going off the racism angle, Callum has comments which imply Elves are seen as like Demons to the humans, and its implied that propaganda is regularly spread concerning them. And it seems like Dark Magic is just normal in the human kingdoms, that is why they were kicked out after all. But any time we have a “good” character, they just...don’t have that Bias. King Harrow is just inexplicably good when it comes to certain issues, which basically means in a story about racism and people learning to look past stereotypes, all of the good guys are already doing that from the start. This is at its most frustrating with the 5 kings council scene, where despite the fact that it is 100% true that moonshadow elves did in fact assassinate a monarch, the most annoying character in the series is like “Well I read the script and I know this is a wrong action so screw you”. In a story about overcoming racism and nationalism, there is a is a total unwillingness to have characters have real flaws in that direciton, Verin starts out as a sympathetic villain but then basically turns into Jafar in the 4th episode and it just goes down hill from there

There are some really bad characters in this, Ezran is intolerable, Bate just wastes screen time, Queen Aanya is the worse thing in the show, and i’m not even getting into the minor characters. the show also really has some problems with certain female tropes, I don’t think it passes the Bechtel test until season 3 and the writers continue their “Saintly missing mom trope” from season 1 even more so here.

(remove these two and the show is just massively improved)

The human kingdoms are boring and we spend 2 whole seasons there. The appeal of this show is Xadia and the elves, having to deal with discount children’s version of Game of Thrones is just frustrating.

But everything above are problems with the story and the characters, and that isn’t actually what makes this show so goddamn frustrating. This show has some of the worse examples of storyboarding, editing, pacing, and just basic narrative structure I’ve seen from actually competent people. LIke its on Netflix, a company that doesn’t seem to understand what pacing is, and these are the guys who made legend of Korra which was more montage than show at times, but nothing prepared me for this nightmare. A lot of it comes down to it being 9 episodes per season, which is even worse than Korra, which was rushed at 12 episodes per season, but even within that, every single episode is just a glut of content jumping from story beat to story beat without taking a breath. Most of the story elements have no set up, let alone build up, the editing constantly takes you out of emotional moments to deal with a totally different subplot, sometimes entire necessary scenes are literally just...not there and we keep missing establishment shots.

This show is just screaming for self contained one shot episodes, where the characters can have mini arch within the episode and just kinda chill out. Despite the fact that I like Rayla and Callum, I actually don’t know them all that well because most of their screen time is running from one plot event to the next, rather than the smaller moments between scenes that really grow the character. Just some episodes to breath, watching this show is exhausting because you spend most of it utterly overwhelmed by the sheer amount of plot happening. Maybe season 3 will surprise me, but each one of the seasons thus far have ended on a narrative dissonant note and I’m sure this one will follow suit. I think the reason why this show is weirdly addcitive is the same reason why Baby shark gets stuck in your head so easily, its a bunch of leading tones. Like the editor in my just wants to hack this show to pieces and recreate it where characters, themes and tones can evolve organically.

In short, a show with a lot of good in it, but I kinda of hate it, but I can’t stop watching it.

How to spot a recast (Iplehouse skin tones and faceups)

Alrighty everybody I decided to put this together to help y’all spot recasts that are tan skin tones. Please know that I’m only using Iplehouse dolls as references because that’s all I have to compare with. All my dolls are from Iple so I can’t give proper warnings with other companies. I’m sorry. This post is going to be photo heavy so I’ll put it under a readmore, but for the first recast awareness post where I compared a recast to a legit body, you can find that here on my personal blog.

I will also be discussing some faceup things I have noticed with recasts, as in the recast comes with a faceup when bought new--not done by a artist.

As always if you have any questions feel free to ask!

Okay so when it comes to Iplehouse tan resins, they have Peach Gold, Real Skin, Light Brown, and Ebony. I have not seen ebony as much with recasts, but’s still out there. I’ll be going over the other three colors in detail since I own them, have photos, and found tan recasts that are similar to those. I am not promoting recasts by inserting photos of them, and got these photos from ebay where the dolls were explicitly stated as being recasts.

1: Peach Gold. PG is the shade after normal on the darker spectrum of Iplehouse’s colors. It’s a peachy pale skin tone with warm golden undertones. It also comes in the “glow” option where its partially transparent for a more realistic look, and the glow options tend to lean more on the warmer end. PG is pretty consistent in color from batch to batch, I own 3 PG dolls and they’re all very similar. Here is my SID Grace (2017) who is the regular PG, first photo is taken with flash, second is my normal house lighting that is on the yellow side, and last is with flash and with my glow PG Mari (2016).

(ignore that they’re all kinda piled on my couch hahaha) As you can see next to the glow PG, there’s more pink and less gold. Now, here’s a couple photos of a tan recast Grace (same sculpt) to compare to.

(sorry for the bad quality, ebay mobile is like that), as you can see the recast tan is darker than PG, but VERY warm like it. So since its darker, lets compare to the next skintone from Iplehouse.

2: Real Skin RS is the medium of the darker shades, it’s a wonderful tan color leaning on the olive side. It has a lot of yellowy green undertones and reminds me of a latte with lots of milk in it. Its the most consistent tan color, I have two dolls in this color and several parts all ordered from different times and they all match perfectly. It also comes in the glow option which is more warm on the yellow side and a shade darker, I don’t have a doll in the glow for a comparison. ALSO important to note is that Iplehouse dolls in PG, RS, and light brown made before 2014 did have a soft glow to them because they were made with french resin. Iplehouse switched to matte colors in 2014 due to difficulty with the french resin, and in 2016 they introduced the glow line which is not french resin. Okay so lets look at some photos! Here is Josh, my SID Edan (2015) and Rhys my FID Rex (2018). First photo is Josh with flash, second is him in my normal house lighting, third is Rhys next to a window with natural light, third is him with flash next to my light brown Bianca (2016).

As you can see lighting makes a big difference with this tone but it always remains an olive color with yellow undertones. It does not match the orange base of the recast Grace I showed above or the recast FID Rex (same sculpt as Rhys) I am going to post below. You can also see that compared to light brown, theres a big contrast and light brown isn’t orange toned either, just warm.

Again, it’s a very orange, missing the headplate but since those are now being recreated by recasters they don’t matter *insert upside down smiley face here*. The resin is shiny all over, and also isn’t consistent in color throughout the doll. The chest, eblow peanuts, and head are darker. I wanted to include the description because the seller mentions that he has no seam lines which is not something you’ll see on legit Iplehouse dolls. They have seams because Iple doesn’t like to leave sanding marks. Now lets move onto the darkest color I have reference photos of.

3: Light Brown. LB is the second to last of the tans, in 2015 they darkened the color a bit and it is the most inconsistent color out of all their resins. I have 3 LB dolls, and two match while one is a little lighter and more warm toned (you saw her above). LB is dark, warm but not orange, and reminds me of milk chocolate. It also comes in the glow option but again I don’t have a doll in that color haha. Here are some photos of Rex my YID Chris, he’s the newest LB doll I have, first pic is with flash, second in my house lighting, third is compared to PG and RS.

With flash, he shows more yellowy tones, but without it shows his true color despite my bad house light haha, and the last one I feel is a good comparison to show that he’s darker than the tan recasts come in (yes I know this can vary from recaster but majority seem to be around that same deep orange color).

Now I’m going to talk about a few skin tones I don’t have good comparisons of but have noticed things: White: Iple’s white isn’t fully white, it’s paler than normal but it has pink undertones and when it yellows it goes really yellow, its matte as well. Recast white is paper white and glowy. Normal: Iple’s normal is very pink and usually mellows within the first year or two, when it yellows it yellows out to a nice color, kinda like a very pale olive. It’s also matte. Recast normal is a porky pink unlike how legit normal is a normal with LOTS of pink undertones, recast normal is literally like a light pink with some yellow added in to try and balance, or its the opposite where its very yellow with hardy any pink, but one consistent thing is that its not matte, its glowy because its Chinese resin. Ebony: Iple’s ebony is SUPER dark and cool toned with a good mix of blue and red undertones, when it yellows it doesn’t green it more “cools” as the blue tones take over and it still looks realistic. Recast ebony isn’t anywhere as dark and is again super warm. I haven’t seen many in this shade so thats all I can say on that.

Faceups. Things I’ve noticed is that faceups from recasters always have this fake plastic kinda look to them, where they look like they were stamped on. One recaster colors eyebrows purple. Another one rips off Iple’s faceups but does poor quality on it. Another uses sparkles under the sealant or glossy sealant. Look at the recasts I posted above, the faceups look stamped on. Please note all my dolls except one currently have faceups by me, but here’s some old photos (of my dolls) comparing Iple’s faceups to some other recasts I found on ebay. Legit’s up first:

For Iplehouse OG faceups, everything is consistent with colors, its all blended nicely, natural, and the linework is super neat and thin (iple expose your secrets to me PLS). Anyway, these are all over 4 years old, and since then Iple has changed their style a bit, but its all still very high quality. Here’s the recasts:

Set 1: stamped on look with heavy linework and blushing, ultra saturated colors, and “sharp” eyebrows and lashes. Also the eyebrows arent even, something I’ve never seen Iple do (again Iple faceup artist reveal your secrets to me).

Set 2: purple brows! those eyebrows are PURPLE guys, so is the shading around the last ones eyes. Colors are off, looks rushed, and again thick and heavy linework.

Okay thats all I have to add. I hope this helps you out and again, all these photos are from ebay recasts for sale, the photos aren’t stolen ones I triple checked. Please reblog this because now ebay thinks I want to buy recasts and keeps sending me emails about them.

what happened with your meeting Taylor experience? could you explain how did they rush you :( sorry if there’s already a post about it, maybe you could link?

I never really talked about it much until all this other stuff has been coming out, but basically the minute we got in there, one of TN (that I won’t name) kept going, “SHALL WE TAKE THE PICTURE NOW?!” And basically interrupting when we were trying to talk to Taylor (who, bless her heart, was ignoring them as best she could). It felt really pressured time wise and I don’t blame Taylor for that because she had End Game to go and shoot... but if our session hasn’t started so damn late then we wouldn’t have been rushed and we wouldn’t have felt so pressured meeting her to basically hurry up and leave. It’s basically impossible to have a meaningful conversation with her with people breathing down your neck so I basically felt too anxious to say anything at all so we talked about hair and lipstick and shoes and then Taylor suggested we take the photo because they were nagging us. It must have only been a few minutes max.They also told us the minute we got in there was absolutely no time for more than one photo - which would have been fine.... except we then made friends with other sessioners and found out they let loads of people take multiple - especially those with bolder, louder personalities. I was and am still very sad about this because it’s kinda a thing, isn’t it, what you daydream your pose with Taylor will be like? What you’ll get to say to her? I had a complete anxiety induced blank because of this one particular rep because very aggressive with her rushing so I couldn’t even remember my own name, so I don’t think Taylor even knows who I am, much less me getting to tell her all about my step dad disappearing the week before or anything that I so desperately wanted to thank her for making better with her music. So yeah - that’s my story. It was the most crazy, unbelievable day and I will never, ever be able to thank Taylor enough or whoever it was that was in charge of picking me because I have never felt more trusted and privileged. I just wish they hadn’t tainted the experience by running the session SO late and making some of us all rush so much while others were allowed more time. Inconsistency of any rule is what is so upsetting, not the rule itself. It makes me feel like I just wasn’t considered valuable enough for Taylor’s time in their eyes, or that I wasn’t someone Taylor knew by name so I didn’t matter so much.Rules can only really be respected when they apply to everyone - whether it be able how many times you meet Taylor or whatever else. That’s what I believe.

I finally watched voltron season 5, so here are my thoughts on it, stream-of-consciousness style (under a cut for convenience and because I got rambly):

- we’re starting off positive here: I LOVE that lance is finally, finally starting to get some character development beyond the “goofy lover boy” schtick. I loved seeing him use the red bayard and really step up his leadership

- I’m honestly really enjoying lotor this season. the ambiguity in his intentions is absolutely wonderful, and I’m still suspicious. I don’t trust him (even though I want to), especially not now that shiro is starting to realize something’s up. is lotor working with haggar? or is he actually turning a new leaf?? inquiring minds want to know--I like this razor edge we’re balancing on with him

- the worldbuilding, as always, is fun, but we’re gonna start getting into the critiques now; as great as the foundation they’re laying for all these alien cultural stuff is, it still feels rushed. we don’t get a chance to really enjoy or absorb all these new things we’re learning, even in settings that we’ve seen before, like olkari. like, I really want to enjoy the revelations about galran and altean culture and customs and history, but it gets introduced so suddenly and then we dive right into it without time to process, and it comes off as slapdash (at least to me)--give us more development!

- also, am I the only one who didn’t realize that our protagonists weren’t supposed to know that honerva is also haggar?? I mean, I know that we as an audience watched her get corrupted, but I thought that was common knowledge in-universe as well. or at least I thought lotor knew--the dude’s supposed to be a genius, after all ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

- although the beginnings of lance’s character growth are great (and please, dreamworks, I beg of you: don’t let him backslide), I’m really missing that growth from the other characters. poor hunk, as always, is relegated to the funny background character, and although he does have some cool moments, they’re always very brief or else almost immediately cheapened by comic relief. pidge’s rashness felt forced since it wasn’t adequately built up, and I’d love to see more of keith’s exploits with the blade of marmora, since we barely heard from him this season.

- pidge and matt’s reunion with their father was emotionally unsatisfying. I feel like this comes down to the main thing that voltron struggles with as a narrative on a fundamental level: pacing. plot elements are introduced and dropped seemingly at random, and this in turn causes the heavy emotional moments and the mood between episodes to vary erratically. I feel like pidge’s reunion with matt was much better handled, even though it wasn’t perfect. in this season, though, we’re finally reminded that their father exists (after ignoring him for how long??) and then all of a sudden pidge’s mission to get him back is supposed to have the same emotional weight as if the build up had been steadily coming for a while now. and THEN the dude disappears after like 3 episodes! it just feels rushed and unsatisfying. this subplot could easily have been handled in another season and would have provided the writers with a lot more screentime to work with.

- another example of inconsistent tone: when we have the scenes with the “fun” robot that Team Punk hacks, I felt like I kept getting emotional whiplash because it was like cotton candy filler was being stuffed into the cracks between dramatic scenes. and keith’s mother’s reveal?? I wanted more foreshadowing for it before this episode (and why didn’t kolivan tell keith about her earlier??) ((that being said, I’m really excited about her in general))

- also, totally did not expect zarkon’s death when it came. I mean, the fight scene was really beautiful, but I feel like it would have been a better end for him if he just kinda wasted away/died off the first time we thought he was gone. bringing him back and turning his return into this big dramatic ordeal, and then killing him off seemingly randomly within the first few episodes of season 6 just felt cheap to me. I understand they had to have the power struggle for the throne, but they could have achieved it (and probably made it feel more natural and developed, too) without needing to drag all this extra stuff in

- P A C I N G. please, just. pacing. too many big plot developments thrown in at weird times in the season, and then not brought back up until an episode or two later, if at all. there’s no internal consistency. and SCREENTIME IS LIMITED HOW DO THEY NOT KNOW THIS YET. I know the half season system is probably part of this, but come on--this isn’t the first half season we’ve had

- GIVE. ME. MORE. EMOTIONAL. FALLOUT. we never see anyone react to all these big plot developments in a believable or satisfying way--they just sort of shrug things off and then move on to the next big trauma

- I dunno. I really wanted to like this season, and overall I don’t think it was too bad. I finally got to see some of the stuff I’d been looking forward to, and as always there was some gorgeous animation, and there are some plot steps that I didn’t necessarily anticipate. but even though I enjoyed those things, it’s just really frustrating to see a show and a world with so much potential just constantly shoot itself in the foot because it’s unable to adequately pace its narrative elements and balance levity with the heavy emotional scenes and the big plot developments that they just keep trying to cram in

tl;dr some good bits for sure, but the season as a whole struggled with pacing, emotional balance, and a failure to live up to its full potential, which has unfortunately become par for the course with voltron. but hey, that’s why we have fanworks!

Ever since you had heard what happened, it seemed you were stuck in your own head. It felt like you were stuck in this endless loop of “that can’t be true, that can’t be true, that can’t be true”. Ms. Fleming tried to talk to you, with little to no response.

There is no way Heather Chandler commit suicide, was the thought that been running through your mind for what seemed like forever. None of your friends understood why you seemed so fixated on Heather’s death. You didn’t blame them, simply because you didn’t fully understand it either. You hated Heather Chandler, and Heather Chandler hated you. She bullied you constantly, so why would you be so worked up over this?

Well, if you were being honest, it’s because it didn’t make any fucking sense.

There were too many holes in the story, too many inconsistencies. The suicide note didn’t sound like Heather at all. You weren’t buying the whole “popular girl on the outside, tortured soul on the inside” shit. And why would she kill herself by drinking drain cleaner, of all things? That just didn’t seem like Heather Chandler to you.

“Hey... (Y/N)? (Y/N)... (Y/N)!!” A deep voice broke you out of your thoughts and you were brought back to the present.

You were at you friend (and longtime crush) J.D.’s house. Luckily, his sleazy dad wasn’t home to make you uncomfortable. You were sitting on the couch, watching a random TV show with a slushie in your hand. J.D. had been waving his hand in front of your face to catch your attention. Once he realized you had snapped out of it, his tense posture relaxed and he raised an eyebrow.

“What were you thinking about?” He took a sip of his cherry slushie and you tried (keyword: tried) not to look at his red-stained lips that were currently smirking. You also tried not to look at his messy, but somehow perfect hair. Or those mysterious eyes that seem like they could hold the secrets to the universe within them.

Damn, if there is one person who can get Heather Chandler off of your mind, it’s J.D.

“Oh, you know... stuff.” You so eloquently replied. Really, (Y/N)? “Stuff”? You mentally berated yourself.

“Oh, really?” J.D. deadpans. “What kind of stuff?”

“Um...” You fidget with the hem of your shirt nervously. “It might sound stupid.”

“Tell me.” He rests his hand on your arm, and electricity races through your entire body. Your eyes are cast downwards and you take a deep breath.

“It’s about Heather Chandler.” You say in a quiet tone. J.D. doesn’t say a word, and the silence between you is almost deafening. The only thing you could hear was the TV show in the background, until J.D. slowly picks up the TV remote and presses the mute button.

“(Y/N)...” He says slowly.

“It couldn’t have been suicide, J.D.!” It was like a dam broke (*insert Percy Jackson reference here*), but emotions flooded out rather than water. “It doesn’t make any sense!”

“It makes perfect sense, (Y/N)!” J.D. seemed to be getting more and more agitated every time another word came out of your mouth. You didn’t understand why.

“No, J.D., it doesn’t!” You protested.

“Oh, really? How does it not make sense?” He scoffed back at you.

“Heather Chandler was a dramatic person. We can agree on that.” J.D. nodded in agreement to your words. “If that’s so, why did she kill herself by drinking drain cleaner? I think we can both agree that it would make more sense if she did something much more attention grabbing, like purposely crashing her car into a tree and blowing up, or whatever.” (A/N: okay wow, i feel horrible for even writing that. unfortunately, i’m trying to make this fic as believable as it would be in the heathers universe, and, uh, they’re pretty blunt about this stuff. i’m still really sorry tho :/ )

“Are you really questioning the way she commit suicide? That’s a little morbid, even to me.” J.D. said flatly.

“I... I just...” You stuttered out. You hadn’t expected J.D. to be this cold and uncaring about the situation. Something about this wasn’t right. You took a deep, calming breath.

“I think it might be murder.” You choke out. J.D.’s expression was completely unreadable. He leaned in closer to you, his lids half shut. Your breath hitched. You would have (naively) thought that he was going to kiss your worries away if you hadn’t seen his smirk.

“Why do you think that?” His voice sent shivers down your spine, something that didn’t go unnoticed by him. You saw his smirk deepen.

“Uh, well... I, um, it’s just-” You were stumbling over your own words. You could feel your face burning, but you couldn’t move away. He took a strand of your hair between his fingers and played with it softly. It’s almost as if he knew the effect he had on you (hint: he did. He would have to be an idiot not to notice).

“Can you keep a secret, (Y/N)?” J.D. asked, almost in a whisper. He was driving you insane.

“Um, y-yes?” You manage to spit out. You blinked your eyes furiously, not understanding where J.D. was going with this. Also, you were desperately trying to ignore the fact that he seemed to be getting closer to you - but that’s just your imagination, right?

Oh shit, it’s not your imagination. His face was so close to yours, if you tilted your head even slightly upwards, your lips would touch. Just one move, one singular move, and everything would change. Do it, (Y/N), a surprisingly courageous voice inside your head said.

Before you could do anything, a low voice interrupted your thoughts.

“You’re right.”

You pulled back your head a bit in confusion. “What?”

“You’re right. Everyone else in this school would never even guess that it wasn’t true. But you... you knew something wasn’t right from the beginning. You’re smart, and that’s why I became friends with you in the first place.” J.D.’s eyes had a dark, angry tint that wasn’t there before. “I know that of all people, you would understand.”

“Understand what? J.D., what are you talking about?”

“I’m talking about Heather Chandler, (Y/N).” He said quickly. “You’re right. It wasn’t a suicide.”

You processed this information for a moment. You knew it! Of course, it wasn’t suicide! You were right!

Wait. Hold on. Something about this is off.

Your eyes widen and you stare at J.D. in horror and disbelief.

“J.D... How do you know that?” You ask, not daring to rise above a whisper. No. No, there is absolutely no way that your best friend is a murderer. He can’t be. That’s ridiculous. This is all a misunderstanding. Please be a misunderstanding.

J.D. looks at you expectantly. “Come on, you’re smart enough to figure it out.”

Your worst fears have been confirmed, and honestly, it feels like a punch to the gut. You could feel the color draining out of your face. Your best friend took someone’s life, and judging by his reaction, he doesn’t feel very guilty about it. You start to move away from him without thinking. He grabs your arm and pulls you back.

“(Y/N), don’t be like that! Hear me out!” You refused to look him in the eye and he made a frustrated noise. He lifted your chin up so you had no choice but to stare at him face to face.

“Heather Chandler was a complete and utter monster. She terrorized people daily and she was never given any consequences. She deserved what she got. We can rid this world of assholes like her together!” He exclaimed passionately.

“J.D....” You said weakly. Fuck, if only you weren’t looking at him right now. If you weren’t looking at him you could definitely say no. You could say no and call the police and never have to deal with this again.

But you knew, looking at his face, you wouldn’t be able to resist. You would say yes. You would go along with his plan. A sick part of you was telling you, “Doesn’t he have a point? Heather Chandler was horrendous.” But the rest of you disagreed. No one deserved a fate like that, even someone as terrible as Heather.

But here you were, nodding as he gave you the most persuasive look he could muster. You hated yourself for it, but it was too late now.

As soon as he saw you nod, his face broke out into a rare smile. God, you knew you should hate him, but you were still a hormonal teenage girl who was in love with an idiotic boy. Not to mention, that smile was pretty fucking irresistible. When he looked at you like that, almost all of the worries and self-loathing from your previous decision were erased from your mind.

You weren’t thinking when you leaned in and pressed your lips to his, but you know you certainly weren’t expecting him to kiss you back.

You threaded your fingers through his hair while he gently pushed you on your back, hovering over you. The kiss was was full of fire, almost like a battle. His hands ran down your body until they came to rest at your waist. It seemed like you could keep kissing him forever, until you remembered that you needed to breathe.

You (albeit reluctantly) pull away. God, the sight of J.D like that was... amazing. His hair disheveled, his face pink, his breath coming out in sharp pants. You couldn’t think of anything that could even come close to comparing.

“I love you.” Those three words came out before you thought of the possible repercussions. To your surprise, he merely smirked.

“I know.” He said in a husky voice. You couldn’t take the time to revel in how breathtaking his voice sounded, because his mouth was on yours in almost a second. The kiss was so passionate that you knew in that moment that you were in way too deep, but God, you felt so alive. It felt like your body was racing with electricity. It was a perfect mixture of pleasure and excitement and you knew you could never let that go.

It was that euphoric feeling that made you stay. That euphoric feeling that made you keep his secret from anyone and everyone. Jason Dean had you wrapped around his finger, and you would never have it any other way.

I took birth control pills for a month, starting December sometime when we didn’t use a condom and I thought there was a slight slight chance I could become pregnant. Then as my period in January was approaching, I stopped taking them again. After my period ended, I started feeling pretty moody and down. I talked to Matt about it saying that my moodiness may be a result of my inconsistency with the ocp and he told me that I don’t have to take them if I don’t want to and he’ll just use protection. So I took him up on his offer because I didn’t wanna deal with that. Starting 3 days ago, I started spotting. I had just completed my period the week before. I started spotting, and then I started full on bleeding as if I was having my period again. I was mildly freaking out because I’ve never experienced that before (and it wasn’t the first time I was on and off the pill). I ended up bleeding more during my second “period” than my actual period. He and my nursing school friend said it seemed normal and that it was fine, as long as I wasn’t experiencing symptoms of feeling weak/lightheaded etc. So I took their word for it and now my second period is almost over lol. Emotionally, I feel better this week. Last week was just a mess—I left work on two days feeling super anxious/stressed and like I needed a glass of wine to relax. Granted, work was crazy, but I don’t have to let the craziness affect me to that degree. I was also being weird about my relationship as evidenced by my last post. I’m taking this Monday slow to ease into the week.

I haven’t been having penetrative sex for very long. I believe it’s been around 2.5-3 years since my first time ever. With my last partner, I didn’t really understand why it was enjoyable sometimes and wasn’t other times. And actually, it wasn’t that enjoyable like 70% of the time with him. 70% or more when he inserted, it was an uncomfortable feeling. At first, I thought it might have been the size difference as to why it doesn’t hurt with my current partner. It seems pretty common sense but I just learned that the more lubricated the sex is/the more wet I am, the better it feels for the both of us and that sex shouldn’t be uncomfortable if I am wet enough. My current partner literally stops when he senses that I’m not into it or that I’m bored, because he feels “rapey” if he continues. He gets off on me getting off. We’ve communicated about sex before and how so and so times were the best. We deduced that when I’m the most relaxed/not thinking ahead about our day/being present with him, I’m able to enjoy myself more and therefore he does too. And because we talked about it, I try to be mindfully present when we’re in that space. It’s really helpful because then I enjoy having sex too. I think our goal is to have me reach orgasm naturally, because I was never to with my last partner during penetrative sex. We improved so much from our first night together lol.

I feel like I almost rely on alcohol to let down my inhibitions so I can communicate with him more freely. As he becomes more comfortable with me (this and he acts different when he’s sick), I think he tries less to be a good listener. He told me he thinks he has ADHD and in the beginning I thought he was only joking, but by hanging out with him more and more, I can see how it might be true. I feel like these past two hangouts when we’re talking, I have to compete with him for the “spotlight” and naturally, I don’t like to talk when I know people aren’t listening or feel rushed to speak again. I’m usually pretty quiet, even with my friends, and I talk more when I know they are good listeners. But a lot of the times, I prefer not to talk as well. There were three different instances in the past two hangouts we’ve been on (he had a cold both times so that may have something to do with it) when he communicated with servers/hosts where he was super spacey and like all ADHD’d out. I thought it was kinda endearing/cute and ended up laughing at him all three times but this is not a positive trait in a partner. I wondered why it was so easy for me to talk to my previous partner about my issues and such, but then caught myself comparing communication in a 3-year relationship to a 4 month relationship. I was like oh wait, we’re still getting to know each other and in that stage of opening up. However, my last partner was definitely more in tune with female feelings than Matt is. That was a double-edged sword because I didn’t like that because of that, he had a lot of female friends and not enough strong male figures in his life. With my last partner, I didn’t really feel the need to talk to my female friends as much for “girl talk” because he probably provided enough of that to me. I think I just have to work around it and it might be healthier this way that my partner doesn’t enable my crazy feelings. There are boundaries and I maintain a relationship with my female friends as well.

Another update, we celebrated Chinese new year with my family yesterday. Due to family drama, I haven’t seen my favorite nephew in a long time (1 year) before my brother’s wedding. When I saw him/hungout with him during the wedding, it was really nice. He’s growing really big and fat but he still has that lovable personality. He messaged me yesterday saying Happy early Chinese new year and it meant a lot because he hasn’t initiated conversation since the family drama happened. I thought, why not pick him up and bring him to my family gathering like the good old days? He lives a little further away now ~12-15 min, so I won’t be able to do it often because it’s time consuming to pick him up and drop him off. But we hung out with the family, and he’s still my little buddy. I made him run/jog 1.5 miles while I worked out. I asked him if he had any song requests. Half of the songs I played were from my playlist, and he chose the rest. In the car ride back home, he asked me what the names of two songs were that I played. It was really cute and nice because he used to do that when he was younger as well. He also revealed to me that he was scared of not getting taller, thinking that overweight kids do not grow taller. I assured him he will grow taller and his fat will even out. It’s a sensitive topic because I know he gets told he is fat a lot. He handles it well and doesn’t really show that he is bothered by it. And in the snap of a finger, the kid that I used to babysit is as tall as me now and weighs 1.5 my weight.

Another incident I wanted to write about before I forgot was me losing my wallet and not even knowing it. On Wednesday night, I stopped by to get gas near my house before going home. When I got home, I just went inside my house and got some food (no one was home that day as my parents and grandma went out for dinner). As I was eating in my room, someone rang the doorbell twice. I was conditioned to not open the door if I was home alone so I just ignored them lol. I heard someone open the gate and then they left. The next day while I was trying to pay for my lunch, I realized my wallet wasn’t in my backpack and thought to myself, oh it must be in my purse or something. Thank goodness for apple pay. Then my day goes by normally. On Friday morning as I was leaving my house for work, I saw my wallet on the floor tucked away behind a pillar. My first instinct was to take a picture of it and I thought some crazy Gloria shit was happening to me (as she tends to have odd experiences). I tried to connect this incident to the weird vibes I was feeling in the hotel room the weekend before and was trying to come up with evidence that paranormal activities are real haha. However, when I got into my car and started texting Matt about the situation, I thought it out and the sequence of events (with the doorbell ringing) made sense. I put two and two together and realized that I was probably clumsy and not paying attention after I left my car to go home on Wednesday night. My wallet was probably still out of my backpack and I accidentally dropped it on the floor. It was already dark too so I wouldn’t have seen it. And a very kind neighbor returned it. Everything was still there-- I had almost $300 in cash and many credit cards with nice limits haha. I was so impressed by humanity that day and felt very fortunate. Our CNY celebration just passed and my mom was like why aren’t you wearing red? I said I’m already lucky and she proceeded to tell my family about how crazy/lucky I am that I dropped my wallet and had it returned to me. And my wallet was out on my porch for two nights and a day before I even found it. My dad joked that I probably did some good in this world and good things happen to me. Thank you world.
