I just find it hilarious and very telling that Loki and Sylvie’s ‘romantic love themes’ are called “Pep Talk” and “Stop” and Loki and Mobius’ theme is literally called “Lokius.”

So neither of the “ships” “won”, and I must say I’m glad, since I didn’t like either and thought Loki deserved better, and if one of them had “won”, the worst of the fans of that group would’ve been absolutely unbearable.
The behavior from the worst fans of the shipping fandoms has been appalling in the past couple of years-bigotry, threatening people, (threatening the director’s dog, really?) harassing each other, accusing each other of all kinds of stuff based only on shipping a different ship. Are we going to have that BS with some assholes harassing the staff of the show and those outside of their shipping fandom again, or are they going to remember people who don’t ship what they ship have a right to exist as well? And that as much as many of us don’t like some of what’s going on in canon, the creators of the show are human beings just like everyone else, and harassing them is crossing a line?
Let’s hope it’s the latter two. Best way to feel better-do what Loki fans (among others) have been doing for years-write lots of great fanfiction and get together and complain and speculate about canon with like-minded people. It does help.

did i mention here the SHOCK REALISATION that sylki fic is often about Loki emotionally supporting Sylvie and lokius fic is often about Mobius supporting Loki, so if you combine those it seems fandom has an overall heirarchy of How Fucked Up Everyone Is and it goes:
Mobius >> Loki >> Sylvie
There are a few conclusions we could draw from this, mine is that I feel so very sorry for the hypothetical character that fandom would consider fucked up enough to need to be emotionally supported by Sylvie D: THAT POOR BLORBO D: D:

Not a Sylki shipper, but do you genuinely believe they won't be endgame? Like I get it, it seems like Sylvie is not in love with him and they're kinda pushing Lokius (might be just mocking us), but don't you think they could do a 180 in the last episode? It would make no sense, but the writer is a cishet man, who ships Sylki. Marvel is not good at writing romance. I feel sad, because I'm seeing all these people say that Sylki is over, celebrating and I feel like they'll be crushed on Thursday. They could absolutely do a 180, rush the romance with "she was always in love, she was just pushing him away" and make them endgame. Again, it would be bad writing and it'd make zero sense, but the majority of the people don't care about the romance, including my irls, they only want to see the multiverse stuff. So they won't care. And I feel like Disney/Marvel don't care either.
Yes, I totally believe that Sylkie is over and that nothing will happen between them again.
What makes me say that? It's simple. All Sylvie wants is a simple life on the timeline, they've made that clear several times. She only ever follows Loki once that life and her timeline are in danger. And I can't blame her for that. She has no interest in Loki and his friends and what's even more important: she has even less than zero interest in the TVA. She's selfish, she admitted that herself.
The TVA is what's important here. The TVA has become Loki's home, it's the place where he found his family. He (and Mobius) is the heart of the TVA. And he won't part with it, and Sylvie would never willingly stay there for longer than necessary.
She has made it clear by telling Loki to write his own story that their stories are separate ones.
This season so far has been incredibly well written, and I don't believe they're gonna do a big 180 in the finale. I could totally be wrong, but I don't think it's likely.
I believe that Sylvie will be the one to restore everyone's memories in the last episode as her final heroic act and then once the timelines are restored, she will go back to her simple life.
And when it comes to Eric Martin: just ignore him. He's a troll, and I don't believe a single thing he says about any ships. He constantly likes Sylkie tweets and then suddenly switches to liking Lokius tweets. It's best to just watch the show and ignore what any of the creators have to say (besides Tom Hiddleston, I adore his commentary) about it, just draw your own conclusions! And so far, we have gotten 5 episodes that made it clear that there's nothing even close to romantic going on between Sylvie and Loki anymore.

In this last moment of innocence before episode 5 comes out I've decided to share with my future self my biggest fears and dreams for the series, so that I can look at them in a week or so and rationally decide the destiny of Marvel.
I will have to burn Marvel to the ground if one or more of these things happen:
Mobius sacrifices himself and does not come back (at least not as the Mobius we know)
Loki sacrifices himself so that all his friends can go back to their timelines
Loki sacrifices himself and Mobius keeps working for a (redeemed) TVA on his own
Sylvie ends up with Mobius as a love interest
Sylkie canon
Mobius is a Thor's Variant
Mobius is a variant of anything/anyone else
Loki is in any way related to Mobius (brother, son, cousin, whatever)
Mobius and Loki say goodbye, Loki leaving to manage the TVA with Sylvie and Mobius staying on his timeline
The original timeline Mobius is dead so Mobius stays behind to take his place without Loki
I'll have to thank Marvel and potentially build a monument to it if one or more of these things happen (not in order of importance):
Mobius sacrifices himself for Loki but comes back safe and happy to stay with him
Loki sacrifices himself for Mobius but comes back safe and happy to stay with him. Bonus: Loki uses the phrase "Glorious purpose" when Mobius tries to stop him and it's clear their friendship has become the real glorious purpose of Loki's life
Loki is Mobius' original nexus event
Mobius stays on his original timeline and Loki decides to remain by his side. Bonus: Mobius has kids and Loki adopts them too
Loki and Mobius save the day and they go off to save timelines together. Bonus: when bidding them goodbye, Sylvie makes a joke about their being starstruck lovers and we understand it's not so much of a joke
Lokius openly canon, with love declaration, actual kiss, forehead touching and/or hand holding (big big plus for the Marvel monument thing I mentioned)
The Loki who's traveling through time is responsible for many of the things we saw in the first two seasons and most of them were done to get Mobius' memories back (i.e. the jetsky magazine on Mobius' desk)
The moment Mobius' memories come back is a VERY emotionally-charged one and it's also a big hint to Lokius
Chris Hemsworth's Thor is back for a short scene, and watching Loki interact with Mobius he understands that his brother is happy and has finally found the love he deserves
"We're in a time loop of our own" means something MUCH bigger than we understood at first
"Love is..." and the answer hints at something Loki and Mobius share so we understand the writers are implying theirs IS a love story, after all
We understand that the relationship between Loki and Mobius has always, surprisingly been the whole point of the whole show

Okay. First post trying to use gifs properly. I've switched out improper gifs for these type for my last 3-4 posts. Gonna work on some more corrections tomorrow when I have time. Please let me know if I'm misstepping anywhere. Thanks for your patience! That said...
LET'S TALK ABOUT SYLVIE💕, INTERSECTIONAL FEMINISM (SYLVIE & LOKI)✊🏽, AND QUEER REPRESENTATION (LOKIUS)🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️!
SYLVIE
I'm rooting for Lokius, AND I also love how much Sylvie has forged a life for herself in S2. A lot of her development is implied, so I think it's worth looking at her growth outside the context of Loki himself: She found a job, locals know her by name, she has friends and acquaintances, she has hobbies!
People call her by name in her timeline on 4 occasions:
1. When the McDonald's shift manager (John) checks in on her after work. See the kid with the tie in the image below. I couldn't find any gifs of him visiting Sylvie at her truck. She asked him if his mom was gonna pick him up to make sure he was gonna be okay late at night. 🥹
Tumblr media
2. When a customer picks up their McDonald's order and thanks her (cheerfully). Also note how many employee stars she had on her badge! Queen.
Tumblr media
3. Lyle at the record store. They seem like really good friends, and I got the "beginnings of an attraction" vibe between the two of them. Unfortunately, the gifs below are the only ones I could find of him and I'm still searching for the source. His interaction with Sylvie before spaghetti-trauma was so sincere. He could tell she was down and offered her Velvet Underground. Come on, that's a solid move.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
4. Eric at the bar, who comments 2 shots of bourbon is a good choice. Let me tell you, finding a gif of Eric was like finding a needle in a haystack, but here he is leaning close to Sylvie. Thank you, @zehiiro!
Tumblr media
I tried to find more gifs of all the people Sylvie has in her life but couldn't find any, which is a darn shame because there are so many subtle cues she's built a support system on her own and she's thriving.
She's a regular at many places in her timeline, and when people greet her, they do so with a smile. She loves music, a hard drink, and punk fashion.
When she engages with Loki, she may come across as cold, but I honestly think she's being firm with her boundaries and true to her beliefs. The TVA threatened her life for centuries. I don't doubt setting foot in the building is traumatic for her, which may explain why she was more harsh than usually in S2E4. Her psychological defenses were all on overdrive. Yet when Sylvie's in her own timeline, far away from the TVA, she can be her real self. Turns out, her real self is pretty well-liked! (I'll talk about how this is mirrored in Loki soon).
INTERSECTIONAL FEMINISM
Sylvie's an unapologetically "selfish" woman who knows what she wants, wants it on her own, is doing it on her own, and isn't afraid to put her foot down when it comes to her personal boundaries. We should be applauding all of that!
This is exactly the kind of female representation we need, but the show did Sylvie a disservice in S1 by coming at her character as a love interest first (look at all the media promos classifying her as such) instead of more thoughtfully showing how badly she has been affected by the TVA and planting what her desires are throughout. If they had done this with more intention and finesse, her position in S2 wouldn't come off as completely irresponsible.
As a result of this apparent marketing and pre-production development decision, her perception as a character (by both lokius and sylki shippers) is muddled by the question of her relationship status with Loki. This truly isn't fair, most especially to Sophia Di Martino.
Of course, Sylvie isn't perfect. No well-written character should be. I just think she's cooler than she gets credit for precisely because her character arc doesn't require the fulfillment of a romance. She will be fine whether or not she ends up with Loki. It's very feminist!
Loki, in turn, found safety, belonging, and love at the TVA. All the things that are the complete opposite of Sylvie's lived experience. I often see fans complaining about how Loki is ooc in his own series.
Tumblr media
The thing is, and Loki admits this himself: it's all part of an illusion.
This illusion started far before the first Thor movie. He comes from a hyper-masculine (dare I say toxic-masculine) warrior society. His true nature doesn't conform with this, so he has to overcompensate with some (genuinely awesome) bad assery.
BUT he doesn't like it.
As a comparison to a far lesser but more relatable degree: imagine putting on a customer service persona 24/7. UGH. It's just not sustainable without becoming increasingly angry and bitter, which is what Sacred Timeline Loki becomes. Mobius gets ahead of this.
In the series, Loki can finally TURN OFF that persona, and TURN IT ON again when it's needed (and fun!).
Tumblr media
He also now has the freedom to be silly, expressive, and magical (unapologetically queer!) without anyone making fun of him for it.
Tumblr media
The end result is a much calmer, happier, likable person (like Sylvie in her timeline, his defenses are no longer on overdrive!). Who shows him this is possible?
Here's the receipt:
Tumblr media
QUEER REPRESENTATION
Sociopoliticaly, Loki and Mobius come from a different angle. A lot of men (cis, fluid, trans, or otherwise) struggle with the social expectation of burying feelings and never ever showing vulnerability, especially to another men. Now, some might argue that shipping men together perpetuates this construct. There's some truth to this, but only through the lens that it is shameful to be gay. In order to get to a point in society where there's no shame in being mistaken as gay (or queer, generally) when being affectionate with another man, there must be continuous positive representation of homosexual relationships in which the characters are not stereotypes. Loki and Mobius are exactly this, especially Mobius.
Whereas Loki, on Asgard, represents the openly queer oppressed (i.e. magic and cunning, qualities historically tied to witches or "immoral women" instead of brute strength), Mobius can represent the closeted repressed.
In S1, Mobius was much more uptight, rule-abiding, and just shy of holier-than-thou. The power structure in which he existed perpetuated this, until Loki reveals to him it was all a lie (an illusion).
In S2, he becomes more flexible, more fun-loving, and more expressive in his affection. In S1, most of his support of Loki manifested as words of affirmation. In S2, his support extended to physical touch and bonding. Mobius, if seen through the lens of a closeted man allegory, finds the courage (and partner) to slowly come out.

I gotta say... Whether I'm a sylki or lokius shipper...
I lost a bit of interest in Sylvie, sadly.
I love her, I'm glad for her she found her life, she deserves it... But if I had only ONE criticism for S2 is that they made her a tiny bit dirty. I'm not entirely surprised by how she turns out but still, I'm frustrated.
How the girl that smile softly at Loki became so much of a pain in the ass in S2 ?
How the girl that said that Mobius was a good man and that he cares about Loki dared to yell at Mobius for a pie and then asked Loki why he would trust him sm ?
I'm just... It's really frustrating. I mean, if they wanted to go back on sylki kiss it's okay, I understand. It's fine. Sylvie and Loki don't need to be a ship to be incredible as characters. But did they have to make her go evil like that ? In S1 I was like "WOOOW Sylvie so cool" and S2 "shit she's here.*sighs*" HOW? HOW DARE U MAKE ME FEEL LIKE THAT ABOUT HER ? 😭
Still love her tho. Just felt like it wasn't right to me.

that can't be it. srsly?!?!?! but no, yes i am MAD that we didn't get to see Sylki kiss but i am even more madder that we didn't even got the chance to hear out how Sylvie feels, BECAUSE SHE FEELS A LOT AND YOU CANNOT TELL ME OTHERWISE! WHY?
Just the way she looks at Loki when she found out that Loki had the choice to kill her and the universe will be saved, but he didn't. CAN YOU EVEN IMAGINE HOW SHE FELT WHEN SHE FOUND OUT ABOUT THAT?
Tumblr media
When Loki goes out to the Loom, we can see how Sylvie is frantic and says "I need to get out there" so she can be with him, but she can't and all she can do is watch, not even knowing what will happen to him. YOU CAN SEE ALL THE CARE AND LOVE IN HER EYES
Tumblr media Tumblr media
this one shot of everyone being just silhouettes and we can see the light center at her only for a while but we can clearly see the look on her face. her hand on her mouth just shows how fckng worried she is
Tumblr media Tumblr media
also THIS
WE CAN SEE THAT SYLVIE UNDERSTANDS. SHE KNOWS THAT LOKI KNOWS WHAT SHE WANTS. AND THAT IS TO HAVE A NORMAL LIFE. SHE CAN SEE WHAT LOKI IS ABOUT TO DO, SHE UNDERSTANDS THAT HE’S DOING THIS FOR HER (for all of them ofc) AND WHY SHE SAID, “He’s giving us a chance”. WE CAN CLEARLY SEE THE HURT IN HER EYES!!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“for you” (FCK I AM WRECKED 😭😭😭)
SERIOUSLY, I'M PRETTY SURE A LOT OF THINGS ARE GOING ON IN HER MIND. THEY DIDN'T EVEN GET THE CHANCE TO TALK!!! AND WHY DIDN'T WE GET MORE OF SYLVIE'S SIDE IN THIS MATTER?!
Sylvie is new to this kind of feelings, that's why it's hard for her to let it out, BUT WE CAN CLEARLY SEE THAT SHE DOES CARE FOR HIM SO MUCH AND I HATE IT SO MUCH THAT THEY DIDN'T EVEN LET HER EXPLORE IT OUT MORE.
SYLVIE IS LITERALLY THE HEART OF THE WHOLE SERIES. Everything Loki does boils down to her/for her (and ofc for his newfound friends and family) and to think everything started because of her and we didn't even get a chance to see what she'll do now. YOU ALSO CANNOT TELL ME THAT SHE WILL JUST LIVE ON WITH HER LIFE AND NOT THINK OF LOKI BECAUSE SHE WILL OKAY?! SHE CAN GO AFTER HIM IF SHE WANTS (she still have He Who Remains tempad bracelet thingy soooo)
ALSO LAST THING I am also MAD that we finally see how Loki is when he falls in love that he literally sacrifices EVERYTHING, GOES OUT OF HIS WAY, GOES BACK TO HIS VILLANOUS HABIT JUST TO FIND HER AND IT ALL ENDS UP LIKE THAT?!?!??! I WILL NOT ACCEPT IT!

sylkis, we need to recognize that loki did betray sylvie.
in s1e5, loki gave sylvie his word that he would stand by her and wouldn't turn on her after they found the one who was behind the tva, but he did exactly what he had promised her not to do after they found hwr.
and in s2, sylvie reunites with loki who willingly works for the tva and has a nerve to ask her to help saving it - saving the same organization that committed genocide against her people, completely annihilated her world and has been persecuting her ever since she was a child.
and that's only the beginning. in s2e3, loki defends kang against sylvie once again. just try seeing her point of view, please - he is physically fighting her, hitting her with his magic, all in order to protect the man whom she perceives as her abuser. he is working for the organization that, to her knowledge, is still pruning the billions.
don't forget that sylvie has pathological trust issues and yet she trusted someone for the first time in her life. so loki's behavior must have hurt her more than anything else ever has!
does loki do all of this for the greater good? yes! is this still a betrayal of sylvie. also yes.
the fact is that loki took the side of sylvie's sworn enemies and the fandom not recognizing it drives me insane! the whole tension is a lot more angsty when we see it for what it is. and as a shipper, i love it!

Loki Matters a Lot to Me *Long Post*
If you go on my page you’ll see that I’ve never posted about the Loki show or Lokius before so you might be wondering why now that the show is (probably) over? I always liked this show, and I considered myself a fan but coming out of it I wasn’t shipping anyone.
Don’t get me wrong I enjoyed the dynamic Loki and Mobius had but I was just happy to have Loki alive so I savored that. Also I sensed some history with Mobius and Ravonna which I still think exists. I found all of the characters interesting. That includes this season but something about season 2 was different for me and I couldn’t figure out why.
Why did this show affect me so much? Why did this second season affect me so much? And particularly why did this ship, Lokius, affect me so much?
To understand where I'm coming from you should probably understand that first of all I am queer and even before I knew I was queer I had a want for queer representation. For me oddly enough it started with Owen Wilson in Night at the Museum. Jedtavius was a pairing I didn't even realized I shipped til I was older. The enemies to lovers thing was so cute and it pretty much got confirmed in the last movie.
Tumblr media
(Just inconspicuously having your cowboy character quote Brokeback Mountain no big deal.)
I enjoy a good ship. As I got older however I began to crave real queer representation and I was lucky enough to find it in places like Steven Universe
Tumblr media
And Adventure TIme
Tumblr media
Then as I reached my mid to late teens I was able to see films like Brokeback, But I'm a Cheerleader, First Girl I Loved, The Miseducation of Cameron Post etc. Seeing these made me feel more secure in my sexuality.
Tumblr media
Of course along the way I got dragged into non canon ships some of which were queerbait like Stucky or even worse, Stormpilot/Finnpoe.
Tumblr media
The malicious part about all of these ships is the teams behind them waving these pairings out in front of people like a dog with a bone, hoping to draw them in to get their money knowing they had no intention of following through.
And I have become disillusioned with that. I have also become annoyed with fans of straight ships that oppose those queer ships acting like we're reaching.
I bring this up because there is a certain segment of sylkis(not all) and on a broader scale fans of straight ships that have this sense of persecution because fans of a queer pairing don't like their ship. It's weird and I am tempted to say it stems from homophobia. If you simply don't enjoy a ship that's fine. There are queer ships I despise, but try and assess where that hatred comes from.
There is a language that conveys romance and it seems like only when there is a minority involved do you guys become unable to understand it. This is an issue within most fandoms when it comes to not only sexuality but race in popular ships. For example, The Bear fandom in regards to Chef's Kiss, but I digress.
When a character feels the need to constantly touch another character that signals something, when a character fixes themselves so they look nice before they see another character that signals something. The way they talk, the way they act, how they are with and without one another says A LOT.
Tumblr media
So why is it when we point these things out we get called delusional? Why do I feel like I'm going crazy every time I speak with someone about a queer ship? And why do I always feel the need to justify it?
Straight, white, pairings never have to justify their existence. They just are. Sylvie and Loki can fight, yell at one another, hurt one another, literally be the same fucking person and people will find that ok, but suddenly when people see Loki fixing himself before he meets Mobius we can't see love in that(you’re telling me this isn’t how someone acts when they see their crush unexpectedly)? We can't see loss in Mobius when he can't even do his job anymore now that Loki is gone? We can't grieve what could have been even if we find Loki as the God of Stories cool?
Why?
Mobius is the first person in probably thousands of years to tell Loki he’s not evil and he can be good if he chooses to be. We see how much this means to him. From this point on Loki is attached to Mobius like a puppy. Mobius becomes his person. I find something so refreshing about Mobius calling Loki out but then also offering him a path to redemption. He doesn’t let Loki slide, because he cares about him enough to know he can be better and Loki deserves to be better for himself.
So I was bothered by the way the finale was set up. I know they have the conversation about “the burden of glorious purpose” and often I am honestly a supporter of not everyone gets a happy ending even if they “deserve” it in a storytelling sense. I find the tragedy in that intriguing, but this didn’t feel good to me on a personal level. I didn’t walk away from the finale feeling sad but fulfilled, I walked away from it feeling miserable and empty. And I recognize that I attach myself to characters more than the general populace but I don’t really care? This hurt.
Loki wanted nothing more than for somebody to be there with him, to be for him, to love him and instead he ends up alone. Mobius ends up back in his timeline but he can't go back to his life. A version of him is already there and our Mobius doesn't even remember his children. Mobius doesn't smile at the end because he isn't happy. He's alone. They are alone and realistically there's a high chance these versions of them will never see each other again.
Tumblr media
Does Sylvie seem bothered by that? No. She's ready to go live her life. And there’s nothing wrong with that, she took the gift Loki gave to her but Mobius is clearly, deeply hurt by Loki being gone. Because they found purpose in each other. In the order and chaos.
Having watched Good Omens and Our Flag Means Death season 2(along with the movie Bottoms starring Ayo Edebiri which everyone should watch 😁) in the same year I have become quite used to seeing queer rep in my mainstream shows. As the years have passed more and more queer characters are able to take center stage. So even though I knew Disney's track record I still held out hope because even the writer and composer saw the potential in Lokius.
Tom and Owen did too somewhat, but at the end of the day actors don't write the shows.
I think what bothers me most is that Loki is the first queer character in the MCU, we've seen him struggle and grow and learn to love and finally last season his queerness was made explicit (more than in Thor Ragnarok where he like fucked the Grandmaster or something). And they immediately paired him off with a version of himself.
Loki isn't gay so I'm not saying he had to end up with a man or anything you can be queer and end up with someone who is a gender different than yours my issue is a broader one which is, this story wasn't made to validate bi/pan people who date the opposite sex or whatever it was made to close Loki off to any other possibilities. One of those being Mobius.
Tumblr media
Rewatching season 1 this decision is exacerbated because there are moments where they could have had him flirt with a man like when he was D.B. Cooper and boom we have on screen rep, but they decided “nah let’s just have him say it one time and then never acknowledge it again.” Again I want to reiterate, you can be queer and not be in a same gender relationship, but this is a television character. We don’t know their innermost thoughts like we’re reading a book we have to take them at their actions and we never got the opportunity for our first queer character to express that(at least in his own show because remember the grandmaster, but somehow that feels worse).
The executive producer recently came out and said Loki and Mobius were always meant to be platonic because they were trying to dismantle toxic masculinity by portraying “platonic male friendships”. A phrase I have grown to hate over the years because ALL WE EVER SEE ARE PLATONIC MALE FRIENDSHIPS. This is another parallel with issues I have with The Bear in which the cast and crew were like “why can’t women and men just be friends?” but only in reference to the black girl. Back to the topic at hand though.
Have you ever met a queer person who acknowledges they’re queer once and then never talks about it again? Especially someone with as much showmanship as Loki? Does that make sense to anybody? Even if he ultimately ended up with Sylvie(which I wouldn’t have liked but I digress) that would have been enough for me.
But instead we had this troubled character give up everything and everyone they love to sit on a throne they didn’t even want so that their friends could have a choice. So that they could have a life. And again I can find beauty in that, but that doesn’t mean I have to like it. And I won’t pretend I do.

Timelines of the heart | Sylki One-shot
Loki and Sylvie fought for hours, their voices echoing through the dimly lit room. Yet, in the midst of their heated words exchanged, the memory of Sylvie's question, "Why don't we see this the same way?" echoed in his head and his heart sank.
"You just left without a word right after getting Timely... like I was nothing," Sylvie's voice trembling and grew louder, "You only looked back when I told you to not make me regret letting Timely go and you didn't even reply me then!"
"Well at least I didn't push you through a time door!", Loki's voice rose.
"Yeah, I shouldn't have pushed you through the time door when I should've stabbed you instead!", Sylvie said sarcastically, and couldn't stop tears from forming in her eyes.
"Well why didn't you? It sure had been clear that I'm the last person you want to see."
"If you know that, then why are you even here talking to me when you should be running around the TVA? Aren't you obsessed with the TVA? TVA this, TVA that."
"I'm out here trying to save timelines and what's left of it! You have no idea how hard I try but time and time again, another looming event happens." Loki saw Sylvie's teary eyes and takes a deep breath before saying with emotion, "If I can't even fix all this timeline mess, how could I fix you?".
Sylvie, offended, stepped closer, hovering her machete at his neck, "Oh I need fixing? You want to fix my stubbornness? My views on the TVA? You–". Loki interrupted gently to continue, "Your broken heart."
Sylvie stared at him, not knowing how to react.
"I just wanted to get the TVA thing over with as quickly as I can, with no distractions, so that no more lives are lost, so that I can fully focus on you after... but it seems like the problems are never ending."
"Why? Why would you want to..."
"Because I meant what I said, I just want you to be okay. But when your timeline you call home is about to be destroyed with you in it, how can you be?"
"Why do you want me to be okay?"
"It's because..." He took a deep breath, his teary eyed shooting up to meet Sylvie's in an intense yet tender gaze, "I love you."
Sylvie gazed at him, a whirlwind of emotions churning within her. Her trembling hands slowly lowered the machete, the weight of the moment sinking in.
"I've never felt this way before. I had to figure out what this feeling actually was but now I'm more sure than ever that I–"
Loki felt Sylvie firmly yet tenderly grabbing his neck, where her maschete had once been hovering. He also felt her soft warm lips on his. This time, they took longer than their first kiss, truly savoring the feeling of each other's lips.
As he deepened the kiss, his strong yet gentle arms found their way to her waist, pulling her closer to him. Their bodies fit together perfectly, as if they were meant to be together from the beginning. As they broke apart, Sylvie looks up into Loki's piercing green eyes and feels a sense of warmth and acceptance that she hadn't experienced before, wash over her.
Their face were still so close, making Sylvie flustered. She pulled away from his arms, feeling her heart beating like crazy. She had to say something in this awkward silence. "I meant to stab you but I dropped my machete.", she blurted out with a smile, scrunching her nose. Loki couldn't help but find her nose scrunching and words adorable. A mischievous grin played on his lips as he responded, "Well, my dear, love is a dagger, right?" Sylvie rolled her eyes, but then something unexpected happened—soft laughter bubbled from her lips.

I kinda found myself scrolling through some youtube shorts and I came across one video talking about Sylki's nexus event on Lamentis. Unfortunately the comments section is full of antis and there were quite a few comments saying that this moment was showing that sylki falling in love with each other was so wrong that even the universe said no on reflex. It seems like these antis think their love is so wrong and unnatural that it caused a nexus event in a place where a nexus event shouldn't have been able to occur and this was the universe's way of rejecting their love for each other.
Obviously these people didn't pay close enough attention to the show because for their statement to be true the sacred timeline would have to be the natural state of the universe and we know that its not, the natural state of the universe are the branches and the multiverse. Which is why right before their nexus event Sylvie tells Loki 'The universe wants to break free, so it manifests chaos.' The Sacred timeline was the prison HWR created to trap the universe for his own gain, there was never anything natural about it.
So actually when you think about it their nexus event wasn't the universe going 'no absolutely not' like these antis seem to think, its the universe saying 'hell yes!" and attempting to break out of the cage that is the sacred timeline.

Loki and Sylvie are the same person. Shipping them is weird. Point blank. I’m going to go on a very long tangent but it’s just because I’ve been very passionate about this since the first season.
Before starting this, I’d like to make something very clear. Loki and Sylvie are distinct people with different life experiences and personalities. I get that. However that does not discredit the idea that they’re variations of the same being.
Ok so, let’s start very simply. How do I know they’re same person? Two things
1. Lamentis-1
Something I find most people overlook when claiming Loki and Sylvie are two different beings is Lamentis. Before this episode, it was established that nexus events are undetectable during world ending events, which is why Sylvie could live at the end of the world. But on Lamentis-1, Loki and Sylvie caused an event so unthinkable that they were able to be found by the TVA. That nexus event was them (or at least one of them) developing feelings for the other. Normally you’d imagine that someone developing feelings for someone else wouldn’t be able to cause a nexus event at the end of the world. But since they’re the same entity, falling in love with a variant of yourself is catastrophic.
“But couldn’t it be that the event happened because they’re just from two different universes?”. I can understand that, but Mobius, a man who’s literal job is to know anything there is to know about variants, literally points out how weird it is that Loki fell in love with himself later in the season. But if that’s still not enough to convince you, think about Miles and Gwen. ATSV clearly shows Miles falling for Gwen, and yet they don’t cause a nexus event. Why is that? Because despite being from different universes, they’re not the same being.
2. Speaking of the spiderverse:
Here’s the fun part where I get to explain the difference between a being, a variant and a destiny.
A lot of people who ship Sylki argue the point that if Loki and Sylvie are the same person, then so are Miles and Gwen. …no lol. See Diagram A for a very important explanation.
The base characters are what the movie characters are based off. The characters that branch off are their variants
As you can see, Miles and Gwen do not come from the same base character, but Loki and Sylvie do. Cool so if two characters originate from the same base character, they’re the same!!
Now, often I hear that what makes Loki a Loki is their role/destiny. And yeah! Part of a Loki variant is their destiny, but, destiny isn’t everything.
See the MCU Miles I put on my diagram? I wanted to prove that destiny isn’t what ties variants together. See, MCU Miles isn’t a hero, he’s just a one off comment Donald Glovers character makes. He is not a hero, not a spider person, just a nephew.
Similarly, ITSV’s Gwen and live action Gwen do not share the same role/destiny in their universes. LA Gwen was just a citizen, who died like a lot of her variants. ITSV’s Gwen is the outlier of her variants, her role isn’t to be a spider person, yet she is one anyways.
I’d just like to point out now that the reason King Pens multiverse machine brought Gwen and Peter and the others to Miles’ universe was not because it was reading Miles true DNA, but the unique mutated genes that the spider(pig, in Porkers case) gave the spider people. Idk if that was obvious to others but it took me a couple rewatches to figure that out (+ it help’s discredit the whole “Miles and Gwen are the same” thing.
Overall, Loki Laufeyson and Sylvie Laufeydottir are variations of the same person, even with different personalities and life experiences (because they wouldn’t be variants if they were carbon copies of eachother).
———
I had more points to make but I literally forgot since it’s been 5 hours since I’ve first got worked up over this. I will update if I remember :)
Ship Sylki all you want, just please don’t ignore how weird it is (and also how one sided and semi toxic it is in general)
———
Also, I’m so up for discussion as long as y’all are civil about it. I don’t want to argue with people who are passive aggressive or otherwise 👍

I didn't like Sylvie in S1, mostly because of the whole sylki thing, but S2 has made me her number 1 defender.
It blows my mind that people watched the show and went away with 'wow, Sylvie's a bitch' because it just reeks of misogyny and not having the capacity to understand a complex character.
Sylvie, since the age of 10-ish, has been fleeing a constant threat to her existence and grew up in apocalypses. She couldn't have anything permanent other than herself because she has to keep moving and anything she leaves behind is destroyed. No friends, no family, and no universe of her own.
Then she gets put in a room with the one guy who ruined her entire life and countless others, of course she's going to be determined to kill him. She started as a scared child, it makes sense that she became and angry adult. Nothing, not even Loki begging her, could stop He Who Remain(ed)s death.
Tumblr media
And lets be honest he deserved it.
Then in the finale, she watches a variant of herself and a friend she faced hell along side sentence himself to an eternity of sitting on a throne, holding the multiverse in place. Loki gave everyone a chance to live and, most importantly, a choice. To stay at the TVA or go home. Verity (Hunter B-15) and Frank (Casey) chose to stay, Mobius found it too difficult without Loki and left, and Sylvie's choice was obvious.
Tumblr media
It's unfair to be angry at her for showing happiness in the finale. Time has clearly passed since Loki left, though we're not shown how much, of course she's managed to move on. I don't see anyone pissed off at B-15 for continuing with their life? What about Casey or Ouroboros?
Also, we saw Sylvie's face as Loki made his sacrifice.
Tumblr media
Does she look happy to you?
That is a face of horror and distress as she watches yet another person in her life essentially give up his freedom while she survives.
Do you ever think about the survivors guilt Sylvie has? That in all of the apocalypses she hid in, she saw men, women, and children be killed knowing she technically could save them but it would make them a variant and doom them further. That she is the only one from her own universe that wasn't reset, making her the lone survivor of her world?
Even with the infinite possibility for the future multiverse, those worlds will have their own Sylvie. There's no place for her there, so she has to make her own somewhere else.
Tumblr media
From the end of Season 1 to most of Season 2, Sylvie has been fighting for the chance to live a normal life. When she gets it, through such suffering and loss, is she really supposed to be miserable forever because one person is gone? She quite literally got the only thing she's ever wanted, that's got to give her a lot of relief.
Tumblr media
Don't be the person to think 'this silly woman gets between my gay ship, brrrr rage what a bitch' or take her as one dimensional.
She's selfish because she's sacrificed everything she had, I think by now she's allowed to be. Sophia Di Martino did a wonderful job and deserves to have her character be enjoyed and understood, not labelled as annoying and 'the real villain'.
Some people only paid mind to the shipping when watching the show, ignoring the plot, and it really shows.

am i a convinced lokius shipper? yes. do i want sylki to happen? absolutely not.
but the reason i dont like sylki isnt because sylvie is a loki variant and they basically the same. i mean, it is kinda weird but still, loki got pregnant by a horse ok. the reason also isnt that it wouldnt be queer (although i would argue it still is).
i just think that loki and sylvie have absolutely no romantic chemistry. ofc there is an understanding, they are the same, they get each other. but that isnt a reason for them to pursue their relationship romantically. i think that loki and sylvie both thought that the only one able to ever truly love them is themselves. (i dont think loki rly loves himself or sylvie but öhm cmon ykwim). i also think that both thought they didnt deserve anyone else. but both of them grew. both started to find value in themselves and around them. loki found it in the tva, in mobius. sylvie found her life at mcdonalds and started to live a quiet, calm and normal life. they arent as dependent on the other like before. they might realise that they deserve someone who loves them and gets to know them.

Our trust issue - thoughts after S02E05
I'll be completely honest, when I first saw the fifth episode, it really hit me, I was losing hope. I thought the angst between them and the tears in their eyes was enough after the last episode, but I was wrong. The day I first saw the episode, I was having a really bad day and I was sad and disappointed in a way the whole time… but now with hindsight, I realized how much I was experiencing it with them, like I was experiencing their joy and sadness with them and suddenly the sadness was just too much and it fell on my shoulders too. I wonder if this has happened to me before… and I don't think it has. And it just goes to show how powerful this story is.
I love the stories and have had many favorite couples, but Loki and Sylvie are just different. Their story came so unexpectedly, I never knew I would be so interested in it before it happened… but the beginning wasn't easy and the founding fans will remember what it was like. So much hate from some people and nonsensical assumptions pretty much ruined it for everyone who wanted to see Loki and Sylvie together. We were the weird ones.
I think that's the main reason why so many Sylki fans are scared, why they have trust issues, because everything between them was presented so vaguely in the beginning. Something like, "maybe it's a romantic line, maybe it's not"… and when it slowly became clear that the love was there, a bigger and bigger fandom started to build. But unfortunately, the antis never went away and never stopped spewing poison. The fan "war" has been there from the beginning and it's still there.
Two years is a long time to wait for a new series. The creators could have chosen any path they wanted. Even one where building up Loki and Sylvie's relationship could have been "too controversial" for them after the way some reacted to it. They could have slowly but surely thrown the whole thing in the trash. Maybe that's why it's so easy to lose trust when that clear confirmation, that clear confession hasn't come in five whole episodes and there's only one more until the finale. Again, we don't know if we'll see them in the next series, the next movie, what's next. The fear is understandable.
Two years is a long time, even for our own various assumptions, imaginations and dreams of what happens next. But just because things don't turn out the way we want or expect them to, doesn't mean it will turn out badly.
There is still a lot of unresolved stuff between Loki and Sylvie, there is still fear and hurt feelings. But their eyes don't lie, their looks don't lie. This isn't a dismissal of their relationship, because the way Loki looks at Sylvie… that's a love that can't be denied. They, too, have a big problem believing that the other won't hurt them, and we, the fans, are also afraid that we will be hurt and that "they will take them away from us."
But as Loki said "hope is hard". Like that's not just a message for Sylvie, but for all of us. And the pain between them is so palpable that it adds that extra bit to the story. Still, I firmly hope that with the finale, we all, and especially the two of them, get our well-deserved reward for patience… for trust… because I don't know who in the fictional world deserves a happy ending more than them.
