save no matter what.

so this is going to ultimately be a post about Deku. however, if you’ll be so kind as to indulge me, I would like to start things off by making a point about Bakugou. specifically, I’d like to point out that back in the day before this kid got Character Development no Jutsu’d, people weren’t always so inclined to view his attitude towards winning in the best light. which is a nice way of saying that he came off as unhealthily obsessed, not to mention more than a little unhinged.

anyway so we’re gonna do the rest of this below a cut before it gets long. but I promise it really is a Deku post lol. don’t let the pre-readmore stuff fool you. I PROMISE THERE IS A POINT, AND WE WILL GET TO IT.

anyway! so yeah, we really didn’t have the best impression of Bakugou’s whole winning fixation at the beginning there. and I mean, it’s not like we had the best impression of Bakugou himself at the start of things either. we were already primed from the very first chapter to see this kid as an adversary to Izuku. the story goes out of its way to paint him in pretty much the worst light possible. which is why what happens next is so interesting.

because one might see all this and think, “holy heck, this kid is off the shits, somebody needs to set him straight pronto and get it into his head that winning isn’t everything.” because that’s almost the natural conclusion to draw. “look at this kid, he doesn’t care about helping other people at all, all he cares about is winning, someone needs to come along and show him that he’s got it backwards.”

except that’s not what happens, is it? because this is where, much to my delight, Horikoshi came along and started subverting expectations. because not only is Katsuki not rebuked for being so obsessed with winning -- it’s pretty much the exact opposite.

the one and only time Deku ever straight up hands Katsuki’s ass to him is when he says he doesn’t want to win. Deku is IMMEDIATELY all, “THE FUCK KIND OF BULLSHIT DID I JUST HEAR OUT OF YOUR TRASH MOUTH,” and that’s when he sets him straight.

the important people in Katsuki’s life never tell him, “hey you need to cool it with the whole winning thing.” All Might and Aizawa never scold him for it, or tell him that he shouldn’t try with everything he has to win, or that wanting to win is a bad thing. on the contrary, they both commend him for it. and ultimately, he’s told by All Might that this desire is actually one of the two fundamental qualities that every great hero needs.

he completely turns the whole thing on its head. not only is it not a bad thing, it’s actually crucial. essential. because what the desire to win really is, at its core, is tenacity. it’s the fiercest kind of determination. it’s not something he should be ashamed of; it’s something that sets him apart, something that makes him worthy. he is someone who refuses to back down no matter what. refuses to give up, no matter what. and this quality, which is initially misunderstood by some to the point where even the villains mistakenly take him for one of their own in the making, is eventually validated to the fullest degree by the person that Katsuki looks up to the most. his desire to win goes from being this awkward “son wtf are you doing” thing to being one of the core philosophies of the series. and ever since then, we pretty much don’t question it.

so why do I bring this up now? well, the answer to that can basically be summed up in one word.

“parallels.”

so here’s the thing. there’s been a lot of talk lately about Deku’s ridiculous, reckless, and absurdly self-destructive desire to save others while having little to no regard for himself. currently he’s lying in a hospital bed, having broken approximately 218 out of the 206 bones in his little hero body (yes, somewhere along the way he found an additional dozen bones to break). it is worrying. it is Concerning. and it’s raised a lot of questions, such as “???” and “wtf is this idiot doing.”

and a lot of people have been pretty critical of him! this is, of course, an ongoing thing with this child, and people have been giving him grief over it going as far back as chapter 6.

while others have been bothered by it going even further back than that.

and I’ve seen these sentiments being echoed pretty frequently in the fandom as well. and there are basically two talking points that I want to address here. the first is the idea that Deku’s aggressive brand of selflessness stems from an inherent lack of self-worth. in other words, because he prioritizes other people’s safety and well-being above his own, and is willing to go to such drastic lengths to save them, there’s this feeling that he doesn’t value himself enough, that he must not care about himself.

but I don’t think that’s quite it. let’s go back to those parallels first, though. let’s take another look at Kacchan.

what I mainly want to call attention to is the intensity here. again, it’s something that at first strikes most readers as being absurdly over the top. the truth is, I think a lot of people simply can’t relate to it. Katsuki cares about winning with a ferocity and a fervor that most people, for better or worse, simply don’t have. I certainly don’t, lol.

but he does. to him it’s not a shallow, superficial thing at all. it’s important to him, perhaps the most important thing. I think we often talk about it in terms of it being a desire, but imo a more accurate way to define it is not as a want, but as a need. in other words, it’s the opposite of the question “what is it this character wants” (i.e. “what is it they can’t live without”)? instead, it’s a question of “what is it they don’t want” (i.e. “what is it they can’t live with”)?

and in Katsuki’s case, the thing he can’t live with is feeling like he hasn’t tried his absolute best. he needs to give his all in everything he does. he wants to win, but winning just on its own is not enough.

it has to be earned. he has to prove to himself and to everyone else that he deserves it. anything less than that is unacceptable. anything less than that, and he can’t be at ease. he can’t be settled. he can’t rest. and so he puts everything he has into winning, even if it means going to extremes. because it’s that important to him.

it’s something that’s at times alarming and even disturbing for others to witness. but nonetheless, it’s a part of who he is, and at the end of the day his teachers accept that, and the story acknowledges that it’s his greatest strength.

so now, to finally bring this back around to Deku, this is what I keep seeing in his character as well. only in his case, the thing he can’t live with is knowing that he didn’t do everything he possibly could to save someone. or to put it another way, Deku, at his core, is someone who cannot rest until he knows that everyone is safe. simple as that. it’s not just a desire to protect people; it’s a need. he needs to know that everyone is safe and protected. otherwise he can’t be at ease. it’s no different from how normal, everyday people aren’t able to feel at ease unless they know that they are safe and that their loved ones are safe. it’s just that in Deku’s case, this same fundamental need extends to everyone, not just himself and his friends and family. everyone. he can’t live with himself knowing that someone was in trouble, and he had the ability to do something to help, but didn’t. and so, if you literally can’t live with not doing something, you basically have no choice but to do it.

and this is what in my opinion defines Deku’s character. Kacchan, in trying to understand it, noted that Deku doesn’t seem to take himself into account. but I think OFA Prime summed it up a little more accurately. “he rages for the sake of others. for them, he does his best until he can do no more. this young man is possessed by a drive to save others that eclipses all common understanding.”

so yeah. it’s not that he doesn’t care about himself at all, it’s that he cares about others even more. he has that same intensity and ferocity towards saving people that Katsuki has towards winning. and just as it was difficult at first for fans to understand Katsuki’s feelings, it’s hard to fathom the sheer depth of that “save everyone” feeling that compels Deku to break his own body in that pursuit. it’s scary, not to mention extremely destructive and dangerous. and so really, it was almost inevitable that there would be some backlash.

but just like Katsuki’s desire to win was ultimately validated in the end, I think Deku’s desire to save others will be as well. in fact it already is being validated, for starters by the other denizens of OFA, led by Lil Bro as mentioned above. let’s go back for a moment to that same scene.

here we get a huge hint that “Deku gets taken down a notch and chewed out and scolded for his recklessness” is not, in fact, the direction that the story is going in. because in general, when the main villain starts mocking the hero and saying that they’ve done something wrong, that’s a very good sign that said hero is actually on the exact right track. like, no offense, but as far as character critiques go, AFO is probably the least qualified person in the entire manga to start offering those up lol. so yeah. if AFO is denouncing Deku for something, and OFA Prime is praising him for that exact same thing, I think it’s safe to say that means he is in fact doing something very, very right.

“okay but makeste, he nearly got himself killed and broke all of his arms AND legs and is now lying in a fucking coma,” you say, gesturing emphatically to the last page of chapter 298. “so I mean, that’s all well and good that Wonder Boy has the best of intentions and all that, but at the end of the day he’s only one kid. he literally can’t save everyone, and if he pulls one or two more stunts like this, he’s going to get himself killed.”

and okay, but this here is the other talking point that I wanted to address. because it’s true, Deku does need to learn a specific lesson here. but that lesson is NOT that he can’t save everyone. this is a superhero story, guys -- “you can’t save everyone” is never going to be the underlying message, ever. it’s the OPPOSITE of the message. Deku is the hero because he tries to save everyone. because he doesn’t give up on saving people no matter what. that is literally the core of the story. it has been since the very first chapter.

so then what is it that Deku actually needs to learn here? well, once again, it all comes back to those parallels.

btw, I really just love how he’s carrying Katsuki there lol. he’s just so done with him.

but anyway. so, the final exam arc. Katsuki initially wants to win at all costs -- but there’s a hitch. because even though he wants to win, he refuses to do so while working with Deku. enter Deku’s left hook, and one impromptu Rival Encouragement Speech later, our boy has thankfully come to his senses.

but here’s the point -- the lesson here wasn’t “you can’t always win.” rather, the lesson that Katsuki needed to learn was that you can’t always win alone.

yeah. so now you can see what I’m getting at here.

“...on your own.”

that’s the key. this is the one and only thing that Deku actually needs to get into his head. wanting to save everyone is fine! his will to save others has never been a weakness -- it’s been the most admirable thing about him from day one. it’s what makes him strong. it’s why All Might chose him. it’s why OFA has chosen him. it’s what sets him apart, and I firmly believe it’s what will ultimately help him save the day and defeat AFO as well. because what other character would look at Shigaraki Tomura, the person who just impaled his friend and destroyed an entire city, and instinctively reach out a hand to try and save him? and if you don’t think that’s going to wind up being key to the final battle, you and I have very different ideas about this series’ endgame.

Deku’s determination to save everyone isn’t arrogance or futility. it is and always has been his greatest strength. but what he’s missing now, what he needs to learn, is simply to trust. y’all might have seen that theory about the Fourth’s quirk, and why All Might was so hesitant to tell Deku about it. basically, the theory (which is based on an attempted translation of the crossed-out parts of All Might’s OFA notebook) goes that the Spidey Sense was so overwhelming that the Fourth -- whose cause of death was one of the things crossed out -- eventually couldn’t bear it, and went to live alone in the middle of the woods somewhere. and possibly wound up killing himself?? all of which is just speculation right now of course. but it makes sense. and it would certainly explain why All Might, being all too aware of Deku’s self-destructive tendencies, would keep that from him.

but if this is the case, that means it’s clear that the Fourth’s solution didn’t work. “give up and accept that you can’t save everyone” clearly is NOT the answer to be had here.

the answer is trust. trust that his fellow heroes have his back. trust that they’ll be able to help him reach the people he’s not able to reach on his own. trust that they can work together to save everyone. that he doesn’t have to rest the entire world on his shoulders alone.

it’s the one lesson that All Might, his predecessor and his teacher, never learned himself until it was too late. but of course, All Might never had a prickly and determined rival who was ready to step in and deal out some tough love if need be. a rival who, perhaps, just might soon get a chance to repay an old favor.

“I don’t wanna hear you say you can’t save someone.”

I’m just saying. just as Deku has been watching Katsuki all this time, and admiring his determination to win, and emulating it himself, so has Katsuki recently begun to emulate Deku’s determination to save others. we’ve seen it not just in his recent act of self-sacrifice, but even in little things like his habits and tricks of speech. just like Katsuki is Deku’s image of victory, Deku is becoming Katsuki’s image of saving others.

and so I’ll bet you anything that if Deku ever starts to doubt himself, or starts feeling like his dream and desires are futile, Kacchan will be there to set him straight with a good old fashioned Rival Encouragement Speech of his own. possibly with his own left hook to match, though his left shoulder is currently out of sorts atm so he might need to modify that approach a little bit. but the point is, he’ll be there. and he will not allow Deku to give up on himself. he will be there to remind him that he doesn’t have to face this alone.

so yeah! finally managed to wrap up my giant Deku meta which I’ve been working on for ages and rewritten like fifteen times lmao. just in time for this to be relevant for all of a day, probably, depending on what happens once chapter 279 drops lol. but yeah. tl;dr, local boy tries to do too much, but his heart is in the right place, and hopefully all he really needs is a good pep talk from his tsundere bff to set him to rights again. r.i.p. to the Fourth, but he’s different.

S/o Taking Care of Sick Boyfriend

Izuku Midoriya

You and Izuku had been planning a date on the weekend since you both had an off day from school.

Though the morning of the event, you were surprised to see that you’ve received a text from the boy himself.

He told you that he had to cancel your date. He had caught a pretty bad cold and wouldn’t be able to make it.

As soon as you read it, you felt as if you should go to his place. You assumed that his mother was taking care of him, but maybe she could use your help or at least you can stay by your boyfriend’s side while he got better.

So you packed up a small bag of essentials and made your way to the Midoriya residence.

As soon as you got there, you knocked on the door, Midoriya’s mother opened it after a few moments.

“Oh! Hi dear, what brings you here?”

“Hey! I heard Izuku was sick and wanted to see if you need any help taking care of him.” You replied to the lady.

She smiled to you and ushered you in. There sitting at the couch in the small living room, was Izuku wrapped in a fluffy blanket, a dampened towel resting on his forehead.

You guessed he had heard his mother answer the door to you. “(Y/n), You really didn’t need to come over, I’m not too sick.” He said with a raspy voice.

“I know, but I would like to help and spend some time with you.” You replied, making your way to the boy’s side and patted his head lightly, which made him smile. “Anyway, Inko do you need my help with anything?”

“Could you help me make some soup darling?” You nodded with a smile as you two made your way to the kitchen.

From there, you guys made some miso soup and talked to each other, mostly about Izuku and your guy’s relationship.

Once you guys finally finished the soup, you dished it into three bowls for you guys.

“I already gave Izuku some medicine, so he should just take time to recover now. If you guys want to, I could leave you two alone and you guys can watch a movie together.” The middle age woman offered.

You smiled and immediately accepted her offer with a ‘thank you’. So she made her way to her room and you went to the living room to where Izuku was.

“Here you go.” You told him as you handed the bowl to him and plopped down next to him. “Let’s watch a movie!” You said.

“Okay!” He chuckled slightly, a couple coughs following. He removed half of the blanket and wrapped it around you, you pulled his head onto your shoulder and smiled, kissing him lightly in his soft hair.

You guys chose a cute Disney movie and sat there watching it together, eventually both of you ended up falling asleep together.

His mom most definitely took pictures of the two of you.

Katsuki Bakugo

It was any average day at school, going between your normal classes and interacting with your friends and boyfriend, Katsuki.

Though, for some reason, Katsuki wasn’t quite himself this day. He seemed very tired and dazed which was definitely interesting since this man legitimately goes to sleep at 8.

He also hasn’t yelled at a single person today, even when Midoriya bumped into him on accident or Kaminari was making fun of him.

Not to mention, that he was sweating A LOT. You knew his quirk required a lot of sweat, but this much was really unnatural.

Currently, you both were walking down the hall side by side to get to lunch when you decided to confront him about his weird behavior.

“Are you okay babe? You’ve been acting weird today.” You asked and he looked over to you.

“Tch. I’m fine you idiot, stop over reacting.” He rolled his eyes and you frowned.

“Well okay, but if something’s up, you can always tell me.” You stated.

He grabbed your hand and continued walking. “Yeah whatever.”

From then on, Katsuki continued with his off behavior, the only problem is that he wouldn’t tell you anything and you were starting to get worried.

It wasn’t until hero training class where you guys were sparing in pairs that you really started to get concerned.

You and your boyfriend were teamed up, but unlike usual, Katsuki was having a really tough time fighting you, he was breathing extremely heavy and was moving very slowly.

You had stopped trying to fight him, but as soon as you did, he collapsed and became unconscious. You immediately ran to his side and picked him up, calling for the teacher.

Aizawa simply told you to take him to the nurse which you swiftly did.

Once you had got to Recovery Girl, she examined him and determined that he had a high fever. She gave him some medicine and such before returning to her other duties. She allowed you to stay by his side till he woke up.

So for a while you just sat there watching the boy until he finally got up. He looked around the room, a bit confused.

“You idiot, you shouldn’t have went to school if you were this sick, why didn’t you tell me?!” You immediately began ranting and Katsuki just stared at you, he almost looked intimidated.

After you finished, he spoke up. “I know..............” He hesitated a bit, almost like he was fighting himself internally. “...and I’m sorry.” You were a bit shocked by that.

“Oh!... um... well, it’s fine.” You said. “Let’s just get you home so you could rest, okay?” You smiled and he gave you a defeated nod.

Shoto Todoroki

Ever since you and Shoto has started dating, you went to his house every Sunday in order to study or do homework together.

It was only a few hours and you had to leave as soon as his father came home from work, but you guys valued the time together nonetheless.

Currently you were walking to said boy’s house, only about five more minutes away. You didn’t even contact him before you left since you did this every week.

Once you had made it to his house, you immediately knocked on the door which Shoto’s sister, Fuyumi, answered.

“Oh (Y/n)! I’m sorry, I forgot to tell you that Shoto can’t meet today.” She said as soon as she saw you.

“Oh, why?” You replied, a bit surprised to hear that.

“He was training his quirk and used a bit too much of his left side, he got a really bad fever from it.” She answered and you nodded, understanding the situation.

You sat there, thinking for a second. “Well, is it okay if I visit anyway to see how he’s doing?”

Fuyumi smiled and gave you a quick ‘of course’. You made you way into the familiar place before excusing yourself to Shoto’s room.

Once you made it down the hall, you saw that his door was already cracked open, so you decided to just go in.

Stepping into the room, you saw the boy laying in his bed. He seemed to be asleep, so you made your way over to him.

You could tell he was in bad shape. His breath were ragged and he was sweating. You laid your hand on his head and it was burning up.

As soon as your retracted your hand though, Shoto began to stir from his slumber, looking up at you with tired eyes.

“(Y/n)...?” He asked.

“Oh Shoto, how are you feeling? You don’t look to well.” You frowned.

“I- I’m a bit warm...” He hesitated before saying the next line. “I think I’m going rest again now.” He started to waver, obviously in a dazed and feverish state.

Of course, I’ll go out in the living room with your sister, get lots of rest!” You were about to turn around before arms pulled you into the bed.

“Would you lay with me for awhile love.” Your cheeks reddened slightly at his words, he was definitely a bit more affectionate in this state.

Nonetheless, you laid down facing the boy as he adjusted his arms around your waist.

You two were there for awhile, Shoto eventually going to sleep as you laid there in his warm arms.

You had started to feel a bit tired yourself, you tried to stay awake, but the longer you did the harder it was.

Soon enough you just decided it was best to sleep and deal the consequences later, after all you felt like your boyfriend needed this.

You looked up to the sickly boy, it almost seemed like his fever was going a bit down. You smiled before kissing him gently on his forehead and cuddling into his chest.

You slowly nodded off to sleep.

BNHA Rewatch: Season 1 Episode 6 “Rage, You Damn Nerd”

Episode 6, with the best most hilarious title ever! Tells you exactly what you’re in for.

Finally, Bakugo’s reaction! I seriously was waiting through all three episodes for this. Like a Hitchcockian bomb under the table. Almost literally!

Bakugou .exe has stopped working.

Aizawa starts his pattern of lying to Class A to get them to do their best. He kinda stops doing this after a while, I’m guessing because it doesn’t take lying anymore, just let Wonder Duo go running off at the mouth and they’ll do the job just as well.

Momo’s first line! I think we’re introduced to her in a method meant to make her seem a bit smug and condescending, which is interesting - Momo has a similar trajectory to Bakugou in some ways, introduced as Hot Shit and embarrassment used to break that ego, so this is important to keep in mind.

Aizawa and All Might seemed like they were gonna have a rivalry in early drafts and that got dropped. Anyway, I’m noting the timeline here, as All Might drops the info that this is April 8 (April Fool’s day was Last Week).

The friendship trio forms! Yay! (BTW I ship Uraraka and Iida, if you didn’t know.) We get a quick sum up of life at UA (sob why can’t my school be more like this) and then transfer on to the start of the Battle Trial Arc. Here it goes!

Everyone’s in costume! I figured I’d use my fave Costumes for my ranker today, so I’ll comment on them below. (BTW I loved this arc a lot the first time around. I adored how perfect it feels as a simulated Heroes v Villains exercise.)

All the detailed info on designing costumes and enrolling quirks is another thing I enjoy about BNHA; it feels like such a well-realized world, probably the most fully realized one I’ve encountered in some ways. Horikoshi is so obsessive over details, I love it.

And it actually serves as a means to illustrate character. Since they designed the costumes themselves, everyone’s choices tell you a little something about who they are. I think that both Deku and Kacchan’s costumes are designed to look like All Might’s - both have pointy hoods like his spiky hair, both have metal gear around the neck, etc. They look alike, yet opposite.

Deku’s first costume is so doofy looking, though. And it’s kind of symbolic of his whole issue at this point: he wants too badly to be like All Might, so he covers up his own face with a mask that has this weird, distorted fascimile of All Might’s hair and smile. He really needs to up that confidence!

This is followed by an adorable sequence of All Might trying to be a teacher and explaining the rules of the BTA. I totally empathize with All Might here; starting at a new job like this can’t be easy. (now I’m thinking about the “Even Idiots Can be Teachers” joke in Episode 52 and laughing)

I wish there was more to comment on with the BTA teams. A few of them feel important. Kaminari and Jirou, of course; one of my ships, they hang out a lot. Also , Ojiro/Tooru, and Tsuyu/Tokoyami get teamed up here (but not Momo and Shoto or Kiri/Mina, so I refuse to call it a shipping pattern). Ashido and Aoyama have a bit of a rivalry going on that starts here. Everyone else’s is pretty random.

And now the fated showdown of destiny! Well, the first time, anyway. I could watch these two fight all day. The whole series could just be them fighting each other back and forth and yelling while YSR plays and I’d be fine.

Bakugou is so salty about Deku! The first time around, of course, he just comes across as an asshole. Rewatching it though, it does seem fairly reasonable to be pissed off that Deku’s apparently been lying to him this whole time (because he doesn’t know about OFA, and Deku didn’t even both to lie to him like he did to his mom), and they are fighting in an organized combat mission, so his behavior here makes total sense in hindsight. Amazing how that character development works.

Uraraka is initially really blase about doing well. in hindsight, I think one of her flaws (at this stage, anyway) was that she basically didn’t know what she wanted and pretty much coasted on Deku (she says as much during the sports festival). She gets over that quickly, but flaws make good characters, so I wanted to point it out.

Incoming Deku “Kacchan Sugoi” moment #1. I love this little twist, too, on the way we perceive Deku. He doesn’t want revenge on Katsuki or something like that. He wants to beat him (”the incarnation of victory”). Deku is not some frail flower needing protection from the world. Don’t let his cuteness fool you.

Deku is so effing cool here, TBH - brilliant, tactical, strong, and brings his rival down to earth by judo-tossing him. Damn, the animation on Baku hitting the floor though, you can feel that impact. No wonder he was so pissed! (Deku’s strategic mind is one of my favorite things about him. Also the symbolism in Baku blasting away part of his All Might mask! 1/2 of the whole!)

“From now on, Deku is the name of my hero!” Once again that trio of foil-y ness between Deku, Kacchan and Uraraka. I wonder if it’s a relic of when the series was originally gonna be them as a trio, a la Naruto/Harry Potter/etc, so they were designed to all foil each other in some way? It’s not as much in the series proper, but it’s interesting nonetheless. Also, You Say Run! Down the bottle! (3rd episode in a row).

In sum, I love this episode. Costumes! All Might teaching! The Battle Trial Arc! Bakugou being crazy (I mostly gush over Deku a lot, but I love Kacchan too. Crater-sized faults and all). And of course, all of the...

BKDK Corner:

Cute flashbacks! Adorable flashbacks are adorable. Little Bakugou is so arrogant; if he was an adult he would be insufferable, but because he’s just a kid it’s cute.

Now to get into a little analysis! This ep marks the first time we actually delve into the depths of Bakugou’s psyche, and basically to sum it up: He’s scared of Deku because he deep down knows that Deku is better than him, fearing that Deku will surpass him, and doesn’t understand why. It’s amazing how the characters introduced at this part of the series as simple archetypes (relatable hero, bully, nice girl, uptight boy) become so complex as the series goes on. Not to be taken at face value.

Such a crazy contrast with rewatching this!)

Perhaps this was a monadical way of life showcasing some final moments of his past; a vow to never forget where he came from and what he had underwent through. Or maybe this was an illusion performed by a mastermind to complicate things; a perfect distraction. But in the end, it didn’t truly matter. Perhaps this was for the better; his life is flashing right in front of his eyes. He knew, that he didn't have much time left in his body and soul. Thus, he had to act fast and end this evilness once and for all.

And yet, his enormously built legs refused to move forward. He was standing like an unimpeded obstacle. He was still staring at the sight of his own self during childhood — slowly evaporating like smoke of a cigarette. Or more likely; altering its shape entirely. Taking a different formation in which again — he was very well acquainted with. There was no longer his own quirkless self, but rather, another young individuality. One that he deemed as the one to inherit what he was once given. One that will be recognized as someone meritorious and necessary for this world. One that responds to the name of Izuku Midoriya; an absolute reminiscence of his past self, manifested upon his eyesight. A timid yet brave frame with disheveled evergreen locks, deep green irises, numerable frecknles ornamenting cheeks — but there was no formation of lips in an upward curve; there was no smile plastered upon the youth’s face. Lieu, it was the opposite; divulging a mixture of disheartenment, anguish, sadness and overtly, fear. The fear of losing a meaningful presence like the gallantry personified. The fear of losing the beacon of hope. The fear of losing someone significant. Toshinori knew — and had the same fear; to lose the most important people in his life. Therefore, he shall become a shield to provide protection and would gladly sacrifice his life, if deemed necessary. For the betterment of humanity, he will gladly lay his life down and become a step for the upcoming generation to overcome. And that boy; that particular boy was no exception to this rule.

But before the omnipotence proceeds any further, he had to do one last thing. Henceforth, his feet finally began moving, having the shorter facade at his destination. Moments thereafter he would cease his pattern of walking. Distinguishable canvas unveiled nothing but a customary expression; an undaunted attitude, offering traces of assurance. A vaunted trait of his that he has attained throughout the years. But was that really the case for this situation? Could his so - called everlasting smile of his provide some security and aleviation? A question that seemed rhetorical, almost — with the obvious answer demonstrated upon his view. He knew that words of solace would be meaningless. The current sight was the actualization of a nightmare, for a boy like him. Young Midoriya had to stay strong, and All Might, alongside the one behind such persona known as Toshinori Yagi, had to complete such task. For he is here, in the final moments as the Symbol of Peace. And so, he extended two vigorous arms, consequently encircling the significantly shorter facade, eventually bringing him closer — bringing him into an embrace. With one calloused palm he would pat the boy’s back in a biddable and repetitive manner, providing some relief and comfort; how absurd, considering the situation that is bound to take place. But it was unavoidable, nonetheless. And of course, the silence was about to be eviscerated by his own deep voice.
