You know something ?
When I don’t like a movie, I’m pretty chill about it, i guess.
A few years ago my friend and I were watching a movie so bad we didn’t finish watching it. We’ve had quite a few movie nights and that was the only time we quit watching a movie before the end cus it was so bad .
You know what I didn’t do?
I didn’t go to the writer’s/director’s social media to tell them it sucked.
I didn’t say they should be unemployed bc I didn’t like their movie.
I didn’t say they should be physically harmed bc I didn’t like their movie.
It never even occurred to me to do any of these things.
But these are all things I’ve seen people do to/say about Taika Waititi bc they didn’t like Thor: Love and Thunder .

local cis man makes a “joke” tiktok that excludes trans men from the phrase “trans people” and mocks the music we make based on a stereotype that’s already been mocked to death, then makes a follow up video directed at the trans men who told him it wasn’t a funny joke or just made them feel shitty where he just doubles down and says the joke was fine because it “wasn’t serious” and that the trans men who didn’t like it are “directing their energy in the wrong place”.
maybe one day cis people will learn that 1) most trans jokes simply are not for them to make, regardless of how funny they think the joke would be, and 2) it’s not for them to decide if the trans people they chose to joke about are allowed to be upset that the joke was made. i honestly wouldn’t have even bothered making a post about this if it was just the original video because a lot of trans people also make jokes like this (which i still don’t think are funny or fair) so he could be forgiven for thinking no one would be upset, but the doubling down really rubs me the wrong way.
like, if we can’t even trust cis people to listen to our feelings on something as silly as a joke tiktok about music, how can we trust them to listen to us when it really counts? you can say it’s not that serious all you want, but when it’s already been demonstrated that you don’t always know how something will actually affect trans men, can you really expect us to trust that you’ll know when it is that serious?
because the message that response sends is this: “i find you fun to laugh at, but i don’t think you’re worth the trouble of caring about your feelings. i would rather enjoy myself and entertain others at your expense.” and is that the kind of message you want to send to anyone, especially a group of people you seemingly interact with enough to be familiar with the jokes made about them in their community? even if it wasn’t anti-transmasculine, it would still just be mean, and it’s certainly not a message that will make us see you as trustworthy when shit gets bad.

the long way down job is such an important turning point in eliot & parker’s relationship bc they’d both been viewing the things they have in common as fairly negative: they’ve both been told that they’re cold and ruthless and dangerous and they know those things are true. so when they’ve recognised themselves in each other, it’s been a sense of "the thing that’s wrong with me is a lot like the thing that’s wrong with you". and there’s comfort in that, in a way. but now eliot gets parker to see that maybe those aren’t all negative traits, they’re just… traits. neutral. it doesn’t make them bad or good, it makes them who they are. and now when they see themselves reflected in each other, it’s not a reminder that they’re wrong and bad - it’s kinship, it’s familiarity, it’s belonging.

When Edgeworth shows up at the detention center in Farewell, My Turnabout…where is he located? Is he standing? If so, how? Perhaps he is sitting on the little table bit? Did he slide on over in front of Wright? These questions and more were all inquiries a couple of pals and I posed while playing through the case on Saturday.

also i know people are assuming tommy is the same age as lou (39) but that would mean he was 18 in chimney begins which seems silly and impossible.
also sorry for spamming you ik we don’t know each other i’m just super high thinking about him
he COULD be lou’s actual age (39) if we assume he was 20 in 2005 during chimney begins. he would’ve probably gone straight into the academy after high school and finished his probationary year by 19 which means by the time chim joined he would’ve been relatively new to the station but already part of the crew.
which, honestly, is a headcanon i can get behind. tommy was a bystander and ignored a lot of the shit that was going on in the firehouse under captain gerrard. knowing now that he’s gay, if he was 20 and just barely out of his probie year, it makes his behavior way more understandable and also makes the shift in it after gerrard leaves and bobby comes in a lot more honest and just a little heartbreaking. (especially now that we know tommy is jealous of how the 118 is a family. he was a kid looking to belong, too.)
tommy being 39/40 now would make him barely an adult when we first saw him. and the layers to that are incredible. the tommy we knew before s7 was kind of a douchebag and we had basically nothing on him at all. knowing that tommy must’ve been a 20 year old gay kid who joined the academy fresh out of high school just trying to fit in and not get harassed by his boss and his coworkers?
like, it doesn’t excuse the behavior, but it explains a lot.
so personally i’m a fan of the idea that tommy is lou’s age………..buuuuut i’m also never opposed to an age gap ;)

Dick genuinely doesn’t have a favorite sibling, he’s like the parent that says “I love all my children equally” and you believe it, he actually loves them all equally. He’s been trying to convince them that for the last few years, they don’t believe him, so he does what he has to, he says it’s Steph and let’s her deal with it.

sometimes i forget how sanitized tiktok and other platforms are compared to tumblr until i come across stuff like this video i saw earlier where someone, as well as a bunch of ppl in the comments, were absolutely scandalized that aziraphale got called a faggot by a kid early on in the good omens book
gays on here throw it around like loose change but ppl on tiktok act like finding it in a book written for adults in 1990 is a huge mind blowing shocker
i’m not saying the book should or shouldn’t have used it, but the video was definitely a big culture shock bc of just how differently that word is treated on here

the fact that so many ship names (especially for anime pairings and pairings from hyv games) correlate to whether people believe that certain characters top or bottom genuinely bothers me.
it really makes zero sense when the context of whatever post is sfw—whatever their sexual dynamic is is completely irrelevant, so why do ship names have to insinuate one way or the other???
just feels like totally unnecessary sexualization, and i don’t think it’s a coincidence that this is particularly the case for queer asian characters (and in some cases, real people).
personally, whatever ship names i use are based on either popularity or whichever one i heard first (and there’s no right one or wrong one)—NOT whatever i believe their bedroom dynamic to be. i think that’s really fucking weird.

Luo Binghe really was entirely too forgiving about the whole abyss thing. Y’all talk about how the peak lords must have felt going through hell and high water for Shen Qingqiu, just for the man to still end up with Luo Binghe? Imagine if Luo Binghe had friends and they knew exactly what Shen Qingqiu had done to Luo Binghe over all those years 😬

those past few days, i’ve been thinking over and over about the tiniest crumbs of closeness frenchie offers to izzy in those three episodes
the way frenchie holds izzy’s gloved hand as soon as he starts crying, even if fang is already there, hugging the small man the best he can, giving him warmth and solace. and then, frenchie leans on izzy’s leg in the red flag jail, when, by now, the crew has already accepted their fate with resignation because having a deadline is much better than what they had before. and at this moment, frenchie naturally leans on him to let him know he’s there, his head propped on izzy’s thigh, comfortable enough to do it. frenchie’s not afraid of him. none of them is undoubtedly frightened of izzy, who not so long ago despised every one of them, every one of the useless pirates of stede fuckin’ bonnet’s dysfunctional crew, because now that specific man is the only one keeping them from being swallowed by the kraken
i like to think that despite the locks keeping that box in the back of his head closed, frenchie can’t lock far away the hurt of seeing someone he cares about being abused even more. now, the only comfort he can give is that unspoken intimacy, those untold words, and that warm touch reminding izzy he’s not alone in the pile of shit life reserved for them
