"Pardon me, I must prepare some more bordelaise sauce," said the Magical Gohda Chef.
Little did they know he got it from the creature, that bloody and set them bold(???)

Still remember when i finished umineko and happy maria started playing during credits. Lyrics touched me so hard i was litereally crying for hours. Gohda is trurly the most tragic character in any fiction...

Readthrough with da NezumiVA crew is going strong, we're just nearing the end of episode 3 now, and I think at some point in the last stream I realised that in Umineko, all of the members of the Ushiromiya family are part of the nightmarish soul destroying inner family politics, and most of the servants have been so badly abused they don't even see themselves as human and don't realise something wrong has been done to them. Kumasawa is in a weird grey area because we don't really know her full deal other than in the magical version of events she's a gosh dang witch.
These two on the other hand?
Nanjo is just a doctor. He wants to do his job, and he has a friendship with Kinzo (even though Kinzo also sucks)
Gohda cooka da meatball.
They're simple. They're wonderful. They're just normal people! I made this kind of shitposty art to commemorate that. That in all of this magic fuckery and all this patriarchal bullshittery we have two rocks of normalcy.
(yes I know they might be the culprits/accomplices in one or more of the murders but they're still simple on paper don't ruin this!)
I'm excited to see the conclusion of episode 3 tonight/tomorrow morning/whatever! The plot's in a spot where I'm really not sure what's going to happen next, so it's very engaging. If you happen to see this before the stream goes live or ends, I'd highly reccomend checking it out here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=99l5xhO0Wos . It's a fun time! Just no spoilies in chat.
Oh also, I figured I'd also add my good friend Daisy's (daisyhrlock on Insta!) and Dante's (dantelorde here and Insta!) treasured input when I posted a WIP of this on our Discord server:
Truly visionaries.
(Oh also I'm gonna post 4/13 art tomorrow and comms are still open OK byeeeeee!!)

i know we all laugh about it now and are glad it got scrapped, but sometimes i think about how if the affair plot with Gohda did happen, how that would have changed things, particularly about Natsuhi's character. It especially paints an interesting light on EP1 where i'm pretty sure the idea was still planned, and Natsuhi obviously seems displeased at the idea of Kinzo having had a mistress, when at the time the episode was first written, she was intended to be having something going on with Gohda, and it makes her a hypocrite.
of course, i write her to be having one with Eva lol, but it's just intriguing to think about how that would have affected her development throughout the entire story and how it would have been treated. EP1 Natsuhi clearly does not harbor much affection for Krauss, even if later episodes worked to mend that. Krauss, in turn, seems to find her more of a bother than anything else, it's clear their marriage was anything but good early on in the story before certain things started to change.
Her bio in the game even states "However, ...her husband... [doesn't] understand her very well" when later in EP5 we get the complete opposite where she says he was the only one who understood her. It's all just interesting to see how between EP1 and 5, they changed, and in the end i think it worked out well, but i do just wonder how differently she would have been written if the affair was still there. They even go so far as to accuse her of having one in EP5 and showing how faithful she is. The contrast is just so interesting to consider.
disclaimer: i'm actually not sure if the idea was still planned when EP1 was in the works or if it got changed before ryu actually started writing, but with the knowledge of the scrapped plot, it definitely does seem like there's a very subtle hinting at it through EP2
