“Beg.”
Hero nearly stopped breathing at the command, they could feel the heat radiating off their face as they looked at Villain with wide eyes.
“Are you serious?” they demanded. “There is another villain terrorizing the city—a villain that you don’t want around either—and you want me to beg for your help?”
They were only met with an expectant stare from the Villain, a smug grin pulling at the corners of their lips.
Hero let out an annoyed huff, their face getting redder by the second. “Villain, I do not have time for your silly games. Are you going to help me or not?”
“I’m waiting,” Villain said in a sing-song voice. They leaned back in their chair, swiveling side to side in a carefree manner as they bore their eyes in the hero’s.
Hero heaved an embarrassed sigh, eyes cast down to the ground. “Please?”
 “No, no. Not like that.” Villain shook their head with a breathless laugh. They snapped and pointed to the ground. “On your knees.”
Hero looked everywhere but at the villain. “Is this really necessary?”
“Do you really want my help?”
Hero’s gaze shot back to the villain, their finger still pointing down to the floor. Hero really did need their help, this other villain was too sharp, too quick. Hero needed Villain’s powers combined with their own to stop this other villain.
So they conceded. With a tomato red face and a chest heavy with shame, the hero sank to their knees. They kept their gaze locked onto the villain’s, hating the smirk that spread over their lips.
“Please, help me,” they begged. Their heart rate picked up as Villain leaned forward in their seat, elbows resting on their knees.
“Say it again.”
An involuntary shiver ran down the hero’s back at the dominance that coated the villain’s voice, and Hero knew that Villain would never let them live this moment down.
“Please,” their voice crack over the word. “Help me.”
“Again.”
“Please, help me.” It came out in a whisper, the shame finally getting to the hero. They watched as Villain rose from their seat and crossed the distance between them with a few steps. They crouched down to Hero’s level, a hand coming up to grip their chin. They held eyes with the hero for what could have been hours but Hero knew was probably only a few seconds before rising again.
“You know, I was going to help anyway,” Villain said with a chuckle. “Be ready in five minutes.”
They began to leave their office without another word, leaving Hero to sit in self-loathing for a solid minute before they, too, rose and followed Villain out.
“You’re sick, you know,” they called out, earning a hearty laugh from their nemesis.

"Could you at least pretend that your listening to my speech?" The villain crossed their arms. "That's very impolite, you know."
"I know." Hero yawned, trying to free their arms, but the rope tying them to the chair didn't move.
Villain put their hands on their hips. "I bet you listen to you meetings, so why aren't you listening to me?"
"I don't listen in my meetings either."

SIX.
"Stop that." Hero snatched the lighter and cigarette away from Villain, "I thought you quit."
"I did." Villain sneered, rubbing their leg and avoid's Hero's gaze, "2 weeks and 4 days, asshole."
Hero sighed, "And you were about to throw it away like that?"
"No!" Villain exclaimed defensively. They took a deep breath, "Well, yes. But look, one, if not both of us, are going to die in a few hours thanks to this 'save the world' bullcrap that you dragged me on. My best friend betrayed me for the promise of a pretty penny. Oh, yeah, and I'm stuck in the middle of fuck nowhere, with you! So yeah, I'm fucking stressed and all I can remeber is how shitty I've been feeling without it!"
Hero growled, "Y'know what? I'm getting tired of this, self-pity act you got going on. We have a chance to save millions, if not billions of people. While you're here wallowing in this pathetic 'woe is me' bullshit, my team and I will actually be doing something good. I thought you could actually help us. I guess I was wrong."
Villain stood-up suddenly, shoving Hero, "I'm not a hero, Hero. I've killed hundreds, you know that. I don't save people."
"Oh, what happened to that 'They're bad people, Hero,' speech?" Hero shoved Villain back, harder.
"You slimy jacka-"
"Guys, break it up." Sidekick weasled their way between the two powerhouses, "I don't know what kind of sexual tension is going on between you two, but you need to quit it for the rest of us."

Maybe They Fell In Love
"They are dead villain," Civilian urged, "You don't have to worry about it,"
"It doesn't make any sense, though," villain pondered out loud as they walked in restless circles around their coffee table, "Hero is too good to just 'go missing' and there's been nothing but radio silence about them in the criminal world,"
"The agency declared them dead," civilian argued. The announcement had been made over a week ago, and their lover had done nothing but stress about it since.
"Yeah, that means nothing," villain replied, "They are a bunch of liars to begin with, and they don't even have a body for a public funeral,"
"Okay, let's say they did lie. What if hero just quit?" Their lover tried, but the criminal was already shaking their head.
"No, that makes even less sense. Hero didn't have any reason to quit"
"How do you know?" Civilian piped up, "Maybe something happened-"
"They were a HERO!" Villain stressed, "What POSSIBLE reason could they have to quit being a hero?!"
Civilian looked down, fidgeting with the hem of their shirt, "Maybe they fell in love..."
The criminal stopped pacing, turning to face their lover, "excuse me?"
"Maybe..." Civilian started slowly, as if testing the waters, "Maybe they were raised to believe everything was black and white... that villains were just heartless monsters that deserved to be thrown in prison. Maybe they met someone while working undercover who started to... challenge that belief...maybe..." they swallowed nervously, "maybe they started to develop feelings as time went on. Maybe they eventually realized that they were happier with a villain than they ever were at the academy. Maybe they couldn't bare the thought of fighting with the one they loved... so..."
Finally, they dared to glance up, meeting villain's wide, shocked eyes with their guilty ones, "so... I quit..."

*This one also contains and bit of a creepy villain. Mentions of stalking.
Detective knew they had made a wrong turn the moment the light overhead went out.
There was something initially creepy about an alleyway in the middle of the night, but when the one and only light source burned out…that was another level. Perhaps they should call the city planners about having dark allies…not that they thought they would have the chance now.
“Can’t say I’m surprised,” came the ice cold voice from behind them. “You’ve been annoyingly persistent my dear detective.”
Detective knew that voice, it haunted the dreams of almost everyone in the city…but Supervillain wasn’t supposed to be here. Detective had only been following a small lead…an informant who said they had information about the drug ring. God, they should have known it was too easy; Police-Partner was going to be so mad when he heard about this!
“Supervillain,” Detective said it conversationally despite the fear in their soul. “What brings scum like you out on a beautiful night like this?”
Detective tried to be discrete as they placed their hand on their holster and turned.
Well, attempted to turn.
Supervillian was on them in an instant. Not allowing them to turn all the way before a strong arm was cinched around their neck and a super powered hand was squeezing their wrist, making it impossible to control their hand as it went limp.
“Now, now, there’s no need for name calling; and after all the attention I’ve graced you will too.” Detective felt the air pulse with each word against their ear.
“Attention?” they gasped, he had tried to sound strong, but with Supervillain holding them like this they knew their death could come at any second, they also knew Supervillain felt every fearful shake of their body.
Supervillain practically purred into their hair.
“Of course attention!” Supervillain spoke. “Afterall, I make a habit of keeping tabs on the smart ones. And you, my dear, are the most intelligent of them all. I must say, watching your day to day, everyday, has been most entertaining.”
Detective felt themself drain of all color. Everyday? Oh god, had Supervillain been stalking them and they never knew?
“But alas, all good things must come to an end.”
Detective jerked against Supervillain to no success. “What’s coming to an end?” They asked. Was Supervillain going to kill them? Here? Now? In a dark ally? Who would find their mutilated body? Some bum? An innocent bystander? Or worst of all…Police-Partner?
“Why, your day to day routine. Not that I wish to cause Police-Partner worry, I know he’s the more responsible of the two of you; but detective, you personally have got a bit too close my dear. Can’t have you going back on the track you were on,” Supervillain squeezed Detective's wrist harder, earning a cry of pain.
“So..” Detective hated how their voice shook. Honestly, it wasn’t death itself that they feared, it was death by Supervillain. They had seen what Supervillain does to someone they don’t like…it was…there wasn’t a word for the horror Supervillain produced when they decided to kill someone.
“That’s it then?” Detective spoke. “I got too close so now I’m destined to be smeared across the bricks?”
Supervillain chuckled.
“Of course not Detective!”
What?
 “I already said you’re one of the smart ones. I can’t have my best form of entertainment die in such a pathetic way.”
Supervillain let go of their neck just long enough to reach over and dispose of Detective's gun and cell phone.
“You’ll love your new place. It’s beautiful. I set it all up just for you!”
What?!
“At least it will be beautiful as long as you answer my questions…if not…well I can convert your stay from five stars to hell in an instant.”
“You’re…You’re..” Detective searched for the words as they were manhandled, arms wrenched behind their back, tied, and Supervillain’s arm wrapped around their torso. “You’re..Kidnapping me?”
“An archaic term, but yes.” Supervillain picked up their own phone in their other hand and texted something.
“You..” You what? Detective thought. What were they going to say? You can’t do that? How could you? Supervillain could essentially do whatever they wanted. That’s the whole reason Detective was so active in trying to stop them. “Hero will find out,” they blurted.
“Hah!” Supervillain seemed legitly amused at that. They started walking toward the entrance of the alleyway, taking Detective easily with them.
Curse their damn superpowers! And curse Detective’s lack of them!
“Hero’s too busy with Villain at the moment.”
They arrived at the street and were waiting for a car, Detective assumed.
“You could say that Police-Partner will find out, because that would be a more accurate statement,” Supervillain continued.
Detective felt ice in their veins, “No! You leave him out of this! I didn’t tell him anything…”
“Oh calm down!” Supervillain chuckled. “I already know. Your office has been bugged for months. Though, I must say your friendship is simply adorable. He knows what kind of food to order that coincides with your stomach problems, you remember that he likes putting pickles on his pizza, he knows the names of every one of your many cousins, and you remember that his mother likes those silly little ceramic cats…I could go on all night. Simply adorable. ”
Detective felt like throwing up.
“I’ll leave him alone of course,” Supervillain said. Detective felt a little lighter at those words. A long black car pulled up next to them on the empty street.
“But if he proves an inconvenience in all of this, I will have to intervene.” Supervillain forced Detective into the back of the car. On the outside it would have appeared gentle if not for Supervillain’s bruising grip and exceptional strength.
Supervillian reached over Detective and buckled the seatbelt. “He won’t prove to be an inconvenience will he?” Supervillain was so close Detective had to lean their head back to avoid knocking foreheads. It exposed their throat and left them feeling vulnerable.
“Of course not. Who could ever prove to be an inconvenience to you?”
Supervillain laughed and patted their cheek.
“How right you are, Detective. See? I said you were the smart one.”
Supervillain shut the door and walked to the other side of car. They got in next to Detective.
Yes, I am the smart one. Detective thought. But Police-Partner is the determined one and there’s no farce on heaven or earth that will protect you from them now that you’ve crossed the line.
Supervillain never noticed that Detective had dropped a small silver disk in the alleyway.

Winter's Kiss - Part 2
Sorry I'm rusty but I had a nice time working on this!
Tumblr media
Part 1
Most people assumed that having ice powers meant Villain was immune to the cold. Surely being surrounded by her element only comforted and empowered her further.
What it really meant was that Villain had never truly been warm in her life. Always haunted by a biting chill that rooted in her bones and flooded her veins.
The summer months were easy enough for her to stay regulated in. Her body naturally fended off the scathing blaze of summer sun, meeting something close enough to equilibrium that she didn't have to shiver.
Winter was different. The scales dipped in one, unanimous direction. There was nothing to balance the overwhelming cold, steely and all-encompassing.
Thus, fighting on an icy rooftop, bitter wind stinging her cheeks, and frost clinging to her lashes, did not put her in a particularly amiable mood.
“Shouldn't you be wearing a coat?” she snapped at her nemesis, fighting off the urge to tremble as ice shot to life in her numbed palms.
Hero landed neatly in front of her, blushy nose and pink ears the only indicator that the weather affected him at all. His lips bloomed in a too-pleased smile. “Nope. The new suit has intelligent thermal-regulatory technology. In other words, I'm toasty as…uh…toast. Shouldn’t you?”
Villain’s gaze flicked over him. She could see, now, the steam radiating around him from his stupid heated costume.
Her skin ached for a taste of that kind of blanketing warmth.
A coat did her little good when the cold stemmed from the inside out. She hated him for it. Her glare was as sharp as the icicles in her hands.
Hero stepped closer and his smug smile faltered. He looked her over in turn. “Are you….cold?”
If she could glare any harder, her eyes would bleed.
“My entire existence is cold, I have never not been cold,” she said through clenched teeth. “Now let's wrap this up, Sunshine, so that I can go home and set the thermostat to 85° and hope that maybe, just maybe, I can take the edge off this- this corpse-numb, never-ending, godforsaken winter!”
Her bones felt only distantly attached to her body, dull and torpid as a rotting log.
She took a step toward him and her knees buckled beneath her. Hands caught her waist, lowering her to the ground.
Her breath caught up in lungs scraped raw, mind sweeping blank. All she could focus on was the delightfully warm palms against her sides.
“Villain?” Hero’s brow knitted in concern. Pulling one of his gloves off with his teeth, Hero touched a hand to Villain's cheek before wincing and shaking the icy sting from his bare fingers. “Sh*t, Villain, you're beyond freezing.”
Villain was barely listening. She reached for him as if magnetized, clutching at the heat emanating from his chest. Something pathetically close to a whimper slipped free at the barest fraction of relief, dropping her face against the blazing hollow of his neck.
Hero hissed against the no-doubt unbearable cold of her skin against his. She couldn’t bring herself to care, and he didn’t shove her away.
There was a pause.
“.....Let the record show that you’re the one cuddling me this time.”
Villain scowled. “Shut up.” Her fingers flexed against the smooth fabric of his suit. “This is- is just temporary, and then I’m going to stab you in the face.”
Fingers stroked her hair, brushing the accumulating snowflakes away. There was a click and shuffle as Hero shifted, wrapping her trembling form up in his cape.
“Stab me tomorrow. We’ll rain check.” Scooping her into his arms, Hero stood up.
“Hey-”
“Don’t worry, babe.” Hero’s stupid sunny smile was back, teasing and prettier than she cared to admit. “We’re nemeses with benefits, I don’t actually want you dead. Most of the time.”
Villain’s cheeks might have warmed if she could feel them. Her teeth chattered. “Sp- Speak for yourself, Sunshine. And don’t say nemeses with benefits. You’re em- embarrassing me.”
Hero’s feet lifted off of the ground and they were moving through the air. Villain glanced down at the world below them before shielding her face from the abusive wind with his cape.
He could drop her to shatter on the pavement. Fragile as ice.
They touched down minutes later, and Villain didn’t bother to pull the cape away from her face to check where they were. Maybe if she pretended to be asleep, Hero wouldn’t put her down… She couldn’t imagine peeling herself away from the shallow reprieve of his body warmth.
Hero shifted Villain’s weight into one arm. Metal jangled, followed by the rustling of a doorknob. Pushing it open with his foot, she felt Hero cross the threshold.
Peeking through the threads of Hero’s cape, warm lamplight washed the room in a honey glow as he clicked on the light. He shut the door and locked it.
Her ears perked up at the familiar crackle of flames dancing nearby. She tugged the cape down just below her eyes, still blanketing her nose and cheeks.
Hero chuckled. “That got your attention.” He pulled a chair in front of the fireplace and sat down with her puddled in his lap. His free hand smoothed back her hair, staticky from his cape. “Better?”
The glorious heat rolled over them in waves, and Villain bared her pink fingers toward it, eyes fluttering closed. “Mmm.”
Lips summer-hot and gentle pressed against her jaw. Warmth sparked low in her belly for an entirely new reason. Her breathing stuttered, turning her face toward his.
Hero took an icy hand in his, blowing warm breath against her knuckles.
The bone-deep ache began to thaw. Her eyes glued to his.
Her beautiful, insufferable,.. kind idiot.
She leaned in. “If you tell anyone about this, I’ll kill you in your sleep.”
A haughty and fond smile lit up his face. “Kill me when winter ends.”
Eyes flitting down to his perfect mouth, Villain caught his searing lips with her own. They chased the chill away together.
Neither of them wanted winter to end.

💫Writing Prompt #62
After years of working together, Hero and Sidekick fall in love and get married. Sidekick is a gentle soul and Hero is all for fighting in the name of justice, a perfect golden couple. During one fateful fight against the villains, Sidekick sacrifices themselves to save Hero.
The last thing they remember is Hero’s distraught face, clutching their body close and begging them not to die. Sidekick ‘awakens’ years later, finding out that Hero had managed to revive them somehow. Sidekick is grateful for the second chance with their beloved, and doesn’t question it when Hero insists they stay at home and rest. Everything seems picture perfect, but Sidekick starts to notice long stretches of time when Hero disappears. Hero’s increasing persistence that Sidekick not look at news from the outside world is getting suspicious. On a day Hero is away, Sidekick manages to contact their old friend. Since Hero’s death, there’s a terrifying new Supervillain in town. They utterly annihilated the old group of villains and now reign supreme. Sidekick is horrified, insisting that they and Hero should come and stop this. Their friend is silent for a while before hesitantly saying, “….Sidekick. Hero is Supervillain.”

Whumptober, day one
YAY!!! First day of @whumptober Lets see how this goes YUDJUHDDHJ
-
No. 1: “But now this room is spinning while I’m trying just to fill in all the gaps.”
Safety Net | Swooning | “How many fingers am I holding up?
-
Sidekick stumbled backwards as Villain advanced towards them. They could hear their own heartbeat in their ears, thumping loudly as if crying out for help.
“Give it up, kid. Tell me where Hero is and you and I can get along.”
Sidekick took a shaky breath before slowly bring up their fists, ready to fight as they got their footing back, “Not happening,” they rasped, hating themself for how weak their voice sounded, “I'm not going to stop fighting back.”
A cruel smirk cracked along Villain’s lips as they raised their fists too, “Me neither.”
This time, Sidekick lunged forwards first. They went to swing at the villain but their wrist was quickly grabbed, along with their other one before Villain drove their knee up into Sidekick’s stomach.
Sidekick cried out as they hunched over, only resulting in them being kneed in the face. They fell to the floor, not getting any break as Villain was quick to straddle their hips, delivering punch after punch.
Sidekick screamed out, letting out all their energy, grabbing both of Villain’s wrists before throwing them off of them. This time they straddled Villain’s hips. They shot out their witch blade, placing it just at Villain’s throat as they caught their breath, “You- you're going to leave me alone,” Sidekick growled, surprising themself at their own tone, “You're going…gonna leave me and Hero alone.”
Villain simply scoffed, “Oh please, you think you scare me? You're nothing but a weak link to Hero. They only hired you because they felt sorry for you.
And that was when Sidekick did something they were trained not to do. They let it sink in. Their grip on Villain loosened and they gulped. But Villain then turned Sidekick to the floor, snatching the blade from the other’s hand and drove it into Sidekick’s torso, ripping a scream from the other.
“Damn, I really thought we would get along,” Villain hummed, “Welp! See you around kid,,, or not,” Villain giggled before running off to the shadows who engulfed their figure- leaving Sidekick by themself.
Sidekick was gasping for breath, shaking hands pressing down onto their wounds as they broke down into sobs, god, they were pathetic.
Rustling from a nearby bush made Sidekick flinch, only further upsetting their wound as they whimpered. “Ple-please, Villain, I-I swear I don't kno-”
“Sidekick?”
Sidekick’s eyes blew open, “Hero?!”
The hero ran over kneeling beside their sidekick as their face contorted in guilt, “Oh, bud… I'm so sorry…” They took in their sidekick who lay on the ground, sweat coating their face and hair, skin paler than usual and blood everywhere.
“It's okay, you're gonna be okay, buddy.”
Sidekick whimpered and nodded, leaning into the gentle touch in their sweat-soaked hair, “Hu-hurts..”
“I know… I know, I’ll make it stop hurting soon, we just need to bring you back the the HQ, alright”? Sidekick nodded slowly, their eyes fluttering closed but they opened them back up at Hero’s voice, “Heyhey, don’t be falling asleep on me, it would be one boring car ride back without you talking to me.”
They both shared a laugh but Sidekick winced as their wound filled with fire. Hero gulped before they held up five of their fingers, “Hey, how many fingers am I holding up, bud?”
Sidekick squinted up as they tried to focus their vision on Hero’s hands, “Fff-fi-five?”
“Yeah! Good job! That’s how many sweets I’ll give you when we get home, got it?” Sidekick smiled and nodded, “Th’nk you..” They were going to be alright… but Villain’s words still cut deep into their heart. They were weak…

Nikolai and the Darkling are more or less the same person, just: One died soon enough to live as hero and the other one had to live so long to turn into a villain.

Villain had been about to strike Hero, who currently was outside of his occupational garbs on his day off, but stopped when he saw the black collar around his small neck. The rings on it glistened, one fastened to a chain that, when pulled, would tighten the collar around his neck. "What," Villain's voice cracked as he pointed, "is that?" Hero turned, hardly seeming surprised to see Villain. He was holding an ice cream cone, smiling at his supposed enemy. "Oh, this?" He looped a finger into the largest ring, pulling on it as if to demonstrate how it worked. "It was a gift from Other Villain. He said it was a peace offering, whatever that means. But I thought it went with my outfit." It did, Villain thought. It did.

An Cumhachd A Thig Le Cùram
The Power That Comes With Caring
This is my secret santa gift for @esperosisdoeswriting! Their prompt was Villain and/or monster dad that is quite evil but very much loves and adores his power-less child. Found family highly encouraged. I hope you like it Esper!
WARNINGS: violence, death, cussing
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Supervillain was shoved in the direction of the cop car. "Alright, ALRIGHT I'm going! Fuck off!" he said while walking in that direction.
How angry he was. These stupid heroes treating him like nothing more than a herd cattle! It was infuriating.
If Child weren't nearby he'd tear out the throats of everyone around him.
He sat down in the back and was closed in there for a bit. Apparently getting him into custody wasn't the first priority.
He heard squabbling. One of the voices sounded like Child. They were probably so scared right now, those heroes taking their parent away from them, no wonder they were resisting.
Eventually the car started moving, the person in the passenger's seat asking Supervillain questions.
"Yes, I kidnapped them." "No, that kid is not someone I kidnapped." "My history of torture does not apply here." "Those heroes? They're dead. Pissed me off too much while I held them hostage, kept asking for food or water." "Her screams were oh so delightful. You should've been there." "Leave the kid out of this."
He had no reason to hide anything he did. Infact he took much pride in all his crimes.
And why wouldn't he? He was Supervillain. He marked everything thoroughly once he realized the cops would never find him.
He was… ticked off about that, to say the least. Child was just a kid. A powerless one at that. If there was ever a group of people that would take advantage of them, exploit them, even abuse them, it would be the police and heroes.
Except now they had. And now they had Child too.
They arrived at the agency. "C'mon, get out. We're putting you in custody."
"No."
"No?" one of the heroes sneered.
"Tell me where my kid is or I'm not getting out of this damn vehicle."
Laughter. Laugher that made the supervillain see red. Laughter that made him almost break the cuffs right then and there.
"Tell me where they are right now or so help me-"
He was cut off by a sniggering hero, "You're infront of a hero agency. Whatever you do, you have an army's worth of heroes to contend with. You ain't gonna do shit."
"Tell me where they are."
A superior walked up to the group. "What's the hold up? I need him in a cell, STAT."
"He won't leave the car unless we tell him where the kid we found in his house is."
You fuckers that's my child.
The superior sighed. "Just tell him, we can't waste anymore time."
One of the heroes rolled their eyes then turned to Supervillain. "Fine. They're being brought to our agency and held in an interrogation room for a while where you can't get to them while we figure out why they were there."
He finally stepped out of the car, satisfied with that. Child would be here too. He was okay with that.
He was led down into the facility, celebratory cheers following him at every turn while the heroes led him on.
Something isn't right.
He could sense it. Deep down. Call it parental instinct. Something was wrong.
He stopped moving. The heroes started shouting at him, pushing, trying to drag him. He tuned them out. Their methods didn't work as his body didn't budge.
Then, he heard it.
His child was screaming.
And so the cuffs broke.
Red, red, everything was red as the screams turned from a child's fear to adults' pain. He lashed out, tearing out their throats, hearts, lungs, whichever of the vital body parts was closest.
The shadows of his power stretching far and wide and terrorizing the whole damn agency.
He would not stop until he found his kid.
Rushing through the halls, leaving marks across every surface his shadows scraped. Like a wild beast searching for its prey.
You fuckers better pray to whatever gods you follow that I'll be quick.
People started fighting back, there was electricity, punches, force fields, weapons. None of it was Child. And so the rage continued.
He hunted, hunted, tracking down the heroes that stole his child, took them from his home.
Clawing his way through the bodies separating him from his kin.
And there they were. Child, crying, backed against a wall while Supervillain crushed the skull of the hero they were cowering from.
His mind cleared, his child was in front of him. And he had just killed.
Out of everything, that was his one rule. No villainy in front of his kid. In front of Child. But now…
He walked forward, wary. Would they even look at him the same? Would there be fear in their eyes?
He knelt down in front of them. "Hey. I'm… sorry you had to see that. I understand if you're-"
"PAPA!" Child suddenly lunged forward and buried their head in his chest, sobbing and shaking like a leaf.
He was stunned, to say the least. "Yeah, it's me." He stroked their hair a little bit.
They cried and cried, finally safe, finally secure. They didn't care that Supervillain had just murdered every hero in the building, they were finally okay because their father was here.
And he wasn't leaving them any time soon.
He wasn't Hero afterall.
Prompt
Hero was lying face first on Villains chest, snuggling in while half asleep. Villain combed their hand through their locks while watching some reality tv show, eyes fixed on the screen.
They wished this moment would last forever. But they knew that tomorrow, all this would be over
Skimming off the top
"Relax, I'm not about to chop your head off," the villain mused, rounding their desk to instead lean back against it. They eyed the henchmen in the chair before them, "But I know you've been skimming money off the top. Don't dig yourself a deeper hole by denying it. Just tell me why,"
Despite the villain's calm demeanour and even reassurance, henchman was undoubtedly shaking. He knew this had been a bad idea. He was about to pay for it.
"I... I needed the money-"
"For *what*?" The villain pressed.
"My... my wife she-"
"Diana? Is she alright?"
Henchman was shocked his boss even remembered her name, but he forced himself to press on, "no, or- yes- well, kind of? She uh, she's pregnant,"
"That's amazing news," the villain replied. They sounded genuinely happy, "Are you worried about not having enough to properly start a family? You could have spoken to me about a raise,"
"No no! It's, well, there have been some complications in her pregnancy. The pressure ruptured her appendix-"
"My god, is she okay!?" Villain gasped in horror.
"Yes! Yes she and the baby are fine, but the surgery was expensive so I'd been skimming to try and pay it off,"
Villain sighed, "why didn't you just tell me in the first place?" They asked. They seemed genuinely confused.
"I- what?" Henchman stammered.
The villain rounded the desk again, sitting back down on their chair, "how much more do you need to pay it off? My calculations tell me you've skimmed about $2000 already, correct?"
"I- yes, sir. I still need $6000," he replied. What was happening here?
Suddenly villain pulled out a chequebook, "Don't get me wrong, you're still in trouble for skimming behind my back. I'm no tyrant, if you need money desperately like this, just come to me next time. We are grown-ups; we can work something out. For now, we can take it off your paychecks until it's been repaid, once this has been settled," villain explained, before standing back up and handing over a check signed for $6000. "Let me know if you need any more, okay?"
Henchman was stunned, "I- I- yes- yes sir- I- thank you-"
"You're welcome," the villain nodded, "That being said. I don't want to see you skimming again. Got it?"
"Absolutely sir, it will never happen again,"
"Good," Villain nodded, sitting back down into their large office chair, "now go home,"
The henchman's eyes widened, "but I thought I wasn't getting fired!"
"You're not," villain smiled, "but your pregnant wife just had surgery. You're on mandatory leave until her doctor clears her health, got it?"
The worker's eyes widened even more, "I- yes, yes sir. Thank you so much,"
The villain nodded, looking down at their desk again, scribbling something else on a different paper. After a moment, they glanced up to see the henchman hadn't moved. They raised an eyebrow as if to say "why are you still here?"
It was because the worker felt like he couldn't leave. He had expected such punishment, but this was...
He forced his legs to stand and walked out, heading straight home. His wife would be thrilled.
*Warning: Contains a very creepy criminal and mentions of past murders.
Hero could only manage a pained, wet gasp as they lay bleeding on their kitchen floor.
It had all gone so wrong.
The case was a typical undercover deal. Hero got the missions handed to them from the police themselves. A simple bag and tag of a drug dealer. Not even big time, just little things here and there. Normally, something this small wasn’t even on Hero’s radar, but they were told the Criminal had a type and Hero fit the bill perfectly.
Hero had the looks and countenance Criminal would respond to.
And oh how Criminal had responded…though they certainly weren’t a drug dealer.
Well they were…but they were something much worse as well.
“I don’t want this to last all night dear,” Criminal cooed from above. They had a look of concentration as if trying to memorize every agonizing moment of Hero bleeding out. “You gave a good fight…truly the best I’ve seen…but now I really must move on. Can’t have you be the only victim this week now can we?”
Criminal knelt down beside them. Despite every fiber of Hero’s being telling them to move, run, flee, they could only give a pained whine, their hands clutched over their abdomen.
“Yes,” Criminal continued. They reached out and stroked Hero’s hair. “You really are perfect aren't you? It’ll be difficult to find someone else who fits so well…but it really can’t be helped.”
How could they have been so blind? All the victims had all looked the same…all looked like Hero. When the police told them the drug dealer had a type…how had they not seen? How had any of them not seen?
The serial killer they had been hunting for months now stood over them, a smile spreading on their lips as Hero’s eyes struggled more and more to stay open.
“Come now,” Criminal took both of Hero’s hands in theirs and gently pulled, taking the pressure off the wound and letting the blood spread across both their hands. “Let’s not prolong this dear.”
Hero could only whimper as they felt the blood flow freely. A tear escaped, despite their best efforts.
“That’s it,” Criminal grinned as they watched Hero cry. “My favorite part.”
“Yeah?” Came a voice from behind them, “Mine too.”
A grunt and suddenly Criminal wasn’t above Hero anymore. A new strong pair of hands clamped over their abdomen and an icy feeling spread through them viciously.
Hero cried out and jerked, only to have the same hands hold them down by the shoulders.
“Easy,” Came a voice. “Easy now, that was a lot to heal. You’ll need to eat and sleep for a week before you move around.”
“Villain?” Hero rasped. Their vision had cleared and the pain in their stomach had ebbed to only a throb. Their entire body was heavy though, as if they had used every last ounce of their energy and then some, leaving only the power to breath and whisper a few words.
A hand ran through their hair, sweeping it from their sweat covered forehead. Unlike before, this touch only conveyed concern and comfort rather than sadistic pleasure.
“Yeah buddy, it’s me. I’m sorry I was late, but you should be alright in a couple weeks.”
Hero gazed up at them in confusion. “But how?”
“Like I don’t know what the police are up to at any given moment. When they called you in for a minor drug deal I got a little suspicious…and here we are.” Villain gave them a  rueful smile.
“But…Criminal…” Hero struggle to keep their eyes open.
“No longer a problem.” Villain said. Then they looked a little troubled, pausing in their ministrations of Hero’s hair. “Best not to look to your right though…you have too fair a disposition to look at Criminal now.”
Hero could only open their mouth in response before darkness took them.
