taking a page out of everyone’s book to wish you all a happy new year now that it's officially 2023 for me!

listen, i’ve been on tumblr since 2010. i’ve been in so many different fandoms and have seen the highs and lows that come with them. but it’s been so long since i’ve been excited by a group of fans like i have been by the stranger things fandom. i started this whole new blog for it in july cause i was that invested in getting back into st tumblr.

like many of you, it gave me my love for writing back. i bounced around the rp world for a bit (which is a whole other hellbeast but we’re not getting into that) but nothing will top the way writing fic makes me feel. the way writing st fic makes me feel. it’s always been a hobby but writing with and for you guys has been such a joy. getting all of your feedback in kudos or comments or tags on silly headcanons, i read it all, i see it all, and i appreciate it more than y’all will ever know.

2022 giving me fic and fandom back was the best thing i could have ever imagined happening and i thank you guys for that! thank you for making my 2022 even more enjoyable than i ever could have expected.

so here’s to 2023! i hope it brings you all everything you could have ever wanted, that it opens doors and windows and gives you amazing things every single day.

hey lumi! I just thought of another question I wanted to ask you, other than batb, which live action remake do you think is the best? I haven't seen any and I want an expert opinion 😄

oh my gosh!!!!! i’m so honored. and i’m also SO autistic so i did so much more here than you asked. but anyway i wanted to wait to answer this until today because the little mermaid (2023) just dropped on disney+ and i JUST watched it for the first time. so i can include it in my list!!

of course prefacing with these are all my personal opinions, im not a film expert (and i pray to God i never am) i just like what i like! so without further ado: my thoughts! also this is just in chronological order, not ranked.

alice in wonderland (2010) - dude!! this was SUCH a hyperfixation for me when i was a kid. somehow, batb 2017 is NOT the first live action disney movie i’ve been utterly obsessed with. this movie is so good. i love the lightly gothic, mysterious fantasy aesthetic that is has. i love the wardrobe, i want to wear every outfit alice wears. i love how dark it is, like there’s such an edge to it while still being pleasant and fun enough to respectably be a disney movie. johnny depp does a fantastic job of course, (purely discussing his acting abilities here) he truly brings the madness into the mad hatter. all the acting is fantastic though. i highly recommend this film. you don’t really need to have seen the 1951 cartoon, i hadn’t, but it doesn’t hurt to! (i don’t recommend the sequel, alice through the looking glass, though. they really should’ve quit while they were ahead on this one)

maleficent (2014) & maleficent: mistress of evil (2019) - i enjoyed both of these!! i actually liked the second one more, but either way, it’s such a fun take on sleeping beauty. and this is coming from someone who LOVES sleeping beauty 1959!! it’s different obviously but it really is a good time, absolutely worth watching.

cinderella (2015) - beautiful! lovely!! not the most exciting film honestly but i do love the aesthetics and wardrobe. it’s a really pretty, pleasant movie. i’d love to rewatch it sometime! if only disney+ had it! which it doesn’t! for some inexplicable reason!!

beauty and the beast (2017) - i know you said besides my wife but obviously i have to still list it because. that’s my wife. anyway perfect film no notes!

the nutcracker and the four realms (2018) - i wanted to like this one so much more than i did. but it was just, so weird. it derails from canon in a way that isn’t enjoyable. ah. twas a let down, for me.

christopher robin (2018) - i don’t remember much honestly but it’s cute!! certainly worth a watch, but i don’t recall anything too special about it. it did make me cry though (that’s not hard for me to do at movies, to be fair)

mary poppins returns (2018) - CANNOT RECOMMEND ENOUGH!! THIS MOVIE IS LIKE IF JOY WAS TURNED INTO A FILM!!!! AAAHHH!!! :) SO LOVELY SO WONDERFUL!!!

the lion king (2019) - :/ genuinely not worth your time. it was TOO similar to the cartoon in terms of storyline, so it felt incredibly pointless to me. plus, it’s kind of boring that they look like real lions. i felt like i was watching animal planet but then pulled out of reality whenever they spoke or sang afjskfj

aladdin (2019) - ever since i saw this, i’ve only ever had three takeaways, and i’ll say them like a compliment sandwich. 1. visually STUNNING. the colors and the choreography, the people! all very beautiful. 2. the romance was… very flat? i honestly kept forgetting there was a love story going on. when they kiss at the end i was like “OOOHHH RIGHT!!” lmao. there’s just so much other stuff going on, jasmine & aladdin’s love story really fell to the wayside for me. 3. i LOVED that they gave jasmine her own song. she’s like the only disney princess that didn’t have her own song, somehow, so i was happy they gave her one and it was SO good. i remember it giving me chills on the first listen. — so, all in all, it was fine. not the worst but also not a personal favorite. worth a watch.

mulan (2020) - BLEGH sorry i almost threw up a little. maybe the worst live action remake of all time? let’s think: what are the best parts of mulan 1998? the music? mushu? shang’s bisexuality? shang, in general?? WELL LOOK NO FURTHER BECAUSE THIS HAS NONE OF THAT!!! :) it’s genuinely just… so bad. they took the basic concept and turned it into a freaky ass action movie. they make it so mulan was like, gifted from a young age with superhuman abilities (calling it chi, which, i don’t know the full story but i believe there was some major cultural appropriation that occured) instead of just being a normal badass human!!! and it wasn’t the villain from the cartoon it was a random witch. nothing made sense and it was stripped of everything that makes mulan one of the greatest disney films of all time. *godfather voice* look how they massacred my boy.

the little mermaid (2023) - so honestly i never really liked the original cartoon. it just never clicked with me. but i had every bit of hope that this one would maybe bring it to life for me!! and… well, it wasn’t bad! it was visually lovely and the music was fun. i just don’t think i’m a “love at first sight” kind of person. but eric was an incredibly likable nerd boy, sebastian the crab was funny, and ursula was SCARY. especially at the end oh my gosh???? anyway. worth a watch, but not my personal cup of tea. ariel and eric get points for dancing a bit AND they hugged at the end which was really sweet. couples Do Not hug enough in media.

lastly, i can’t comment on: peter pan & wendy (2023), the jungle book (2016), dumbo (2019), lady and the tramp (2019), and cruella (2021), because i have not seen them. i will absolutely note though that i despise cruella 2021 in solidarity with my friend @freakwiththeknifecollection because it blatantly disregards the canon of 101 dalmatians 1961 and they couldn’t even like?? train the dogs?? for ONE scene?? huge huge mess. i’m just scratching the surface. if you want a live action cruella, look no further than 101 dalmatians 1996. top tier live action that i loved as a kid!!

🌲- my brother and I saw an advertisement for it on Disney channel before it premiered and decided to watch it! It became our “show” kinda and we always tuned into the new episodes when they came out. One of the only times i’ve seen my brother cry is during the finale when it ended in 2016. I only actually fully hyperfixated on it when me and my friend watched it in late 2020.

🛸 - My friend had been fucking begging me to watch invader zim since we met in 2013 and i finally decided to watch it over spring break of 2020…and then the world shut down. Personally i blame the trauma of the start of covid for making this hyperfixation so intense.

🍂 - (Ex) girlfriend was a wirt kinnie and asked me to watch it while we were dating in September. I had already always been planning to watch it, because it was in that kinda “cartoon trifecta” in the 2010s and was closely tied with the gravity falls fandom, but I just never watched it. Oops.

✨ What draws you towards your hyperfixation?

Honestly I have no fucking clue, the only common threads I can feasibly see is “cartoon with a pathetic pre/teenage boy that for whatever reason I kin or relate to”.

🎶 if your hyperfixation has songs/an ost, what is your favorite song from it?

🌲 - Theme song. My friend has like multiple recordings of me stimming during it and it’s mildly embarrassing but whatever

🛸 - The show doesn’t really have an ost but after reading the artbook, jhonen apparently specifically told Kevin Manthei to NOT make the sound design sound like a kid’s show and jesus this man delivered. Half the suspense in dark harvest is JUST from the background music and sound design alone. Also the theme song slaps.

🍂- oh god oh fuck oh god how do i choose. FUCK. Patient is the night? No, Adelaide parade, wirts laugh in it makes me shrivel up into a ball of tears. NO THE BEAST IS OUT THERE. TAVERNKEEPER RIGHTS SHE WAS ROBBED OF A LONGER SONG,,,over the garden wall is also just so pretty and RAHHHH THIS IS SO HARD. ALL OF IT. IDC IM CHOOSING ALL OF IT AND YOU CANT STOP ME

💎 - are there any fun facts or trivia that you would like to share?

🛸 - I know way too much about this fucking show 😭 The artbook provided so much shit AND i’ve been to multiple panels with Rikki/Aaron/Richard/etc so their stories are fucking hilarious. Their pilot episode was shown directly after Dora at a company meeting. Jhonen was edgy as fuck and put red panels over the lights in the room to try and make it look more intimidating but it just made the light pink. The reason Rikki was brought onboard to the team was because Jhonen met him at a comic book convention and only walked up to their table bc him and his wife were goths. They didn’t tell Richard the movie was happening until the last minute because they knew he’d be extremely excited to play Zim again and didn’t want to get his hopes up if the deal fell through. There’s more but this is turning into an essay so imma shut up now.

I did actually, I read 57 books this year which is more than I expected to read but being in lockdown at the beginning of the year really kickstarted me with escapism.

What are your top 3 books of the years ?

I do not have favourites, i love all my books equally but if you ask me to choose...

1) cemetery boys, Aiden Thomas, it’s great I love it it just makes me so warm inside I annoyed so many people (my mom and my crush) to translate the Spanish to me but it’s absolutely lovely

2) this is how you lose the time war, forgot the authors sorry, it’s a bit hard to read at times but once you’re sucked in you’re in and you’re mesmerised, the language is freaking amazing

3) ninth house, Leigh bardugo, murder mystery ? With ghosts? And a moody protagonist ? Sign me up I devoured that book and I really want the sequel

Have you read anything that you didn’t expect to really enjoy but absolutely did enjoy ?

Hard one cause I mostly read books that I expect to enjoy I spend enough time with barely enjoyable pharmacology classes to pick up books I’m meh about, but if I had to pick I was kinda unsure about Nos jours brûlés by laura nfasou because anticipation isn’t usually my jam but this one is great

And were there any books that you didn’t enjoy as much as you thought you would ?

Yes, unfortunately, I was completely let down by all for the game it didn’t vibe and sunstorm was also a let down

Did you reread any old favourite ?

Yes! I reread the first book of body finder, peak super natural romance from the 2010s doesn’t live up to the rest of time imo. Far from you by tess sharpe and it aged like fine wine even better than the first time around and I’m looking forward to reading her next novel the girls I’ve been. The summer I saved the world in 65 days, middle grade feel good book it was enjoyable enough, the whole manga Doubt by yoshiki tonogai, well technically only the first 2 were rereads, he has vastly improved since then I think, and the first cycle of Alone which is a french/belgian comic which happens to be a lot heavy than what I remembered still very enjoyable. And virals, what if the niece of temperance brennan from bones was a werewolf worked better in 2013. The Venice prophecy, I’m so mad the sequel got cancelled I livid..

I tried to branch out a lot this year I’d say I mostly read historical fiction, mystery and romance, some good picks for me were, the cruel prince, the gilded ones in fantasy, fantasy is really fun actually.

3 months ago I rewatched ouat and when binge watching, yeah captain swan gets together fast. They met, were something like allies and then enemies again, and they pretty much don’t get more interactions until the very last episode of s2 and just for a handful of minutes (in s2 they were still a “crackship” not for me tho😂) Then neverland’s pinning from hook and Emma obviously didn’t think it was for real, cursed for a year, Emma not wanting to acknowledge that she was into Hook and the last 2 episodes of s3 are literally captain swan heaven ending with them getting together. Back then it felt like ages😂 but we knew they were gonna get together (for me s3 made it obvious) and they might have kissed only once but they had beautiful moments in between that were much more meaningful and the pinning… 😮‍💨👌

But when you think abt it, shows nowadays are not even capable of that because like you say, they only have 8-10 episodes. And like 90% of them release the whole season the same day, so no weekly episodes or season hiatus. Maybe the waiting between seasons is 1-2yrs long but honestly the excitement is not the same, everyone is hyping for like 2weeks and then it quiets till next season comes out. Kids are not even used to watching a show of more of 15 episodes a season, I’ve heard them say “nah, too many episodes” and honestly I’m horrified 😅

So while I love captain swan with my whole heart, they’re not slowburn, if they had extended s3 pinning for more seasons we might have exploded 😂 And since ouat didn’t have a ton of seasons, Im glad they got together when they did because that way we got to enjoy them as a couple for 3 seasons (I still wanted to see them with their baby/toddler for more than 5 secs tho😭)

For example Mulder/Scully are slowburn, specifically since they were supposed to be “just friends”. Jane and Lisbon got together after 6 seasons, Brennan and Boot too, so yeah for 2000’s-2010’s that was slow burn, now it doesn’t exist

The thing about OUAT too is it’s much more of an ensemble show than, like, Bones or Castle or X-Files, which gives OUAT less time to spend a ship like Captain Swan so they have to get together quicker than on a show like that if, like you said, they want any time at all to see them interacting as an actual couple. Now, I WISH OUAT was more of an emma swan character study than an ensemble piece but that’s another story LOL.

Anyway, I’m like you in that I shipped captain swan since early s2! That said though I STILL think they could’ve teased out the will-they-won’t-they vibes for, like, another season. They were uncertain allies/sort of enemies throughout s2 then they kiss just a few episodes into s3 and it’s really not long after THAT that they really get together. I just think they could’ve DANCED a little longer because the chase is fun :)

I really miss long tv seasons. 🥺 I miss knowing when OUAT would go into production and following the news throughout the year - I really think that’s the last show of its kind I really watched, everything else is pretty much short streaming seasons. The law and order franchise is still out there I guess… (and incidentally, rollins and Carisi on SVU are a GREAT will-they-won’t-they slow burn).

But yeah I get how the 20-25 episode season is a little too long for today’s audiences just because the face of tv has changed so much unfortunately. I advocate for compromising with 15-16 episode seasons like USA Network and TNT used to do. That leaves a chance to develop relationships over a long period of time while not dragging on too long for the tiktok teens….

How do you get people to always buy your dragons? Genuine question

i was gonna say something like “haha i have no fucking clue” but that would be a lie i think about this a lot actually so i might have some insights i’ve been breeding dragons as my primary activity on FR since i started playing FR (in 2014...) and people have only started actually buying dragons from me consistently like, 5-6 months ago, despite 2-3 attempts at running a genuine hatchery onsite that always died due to lack of interest & not really being worth the effort. 

so ive thought a lot about what the hell is happening now and why my dragons are suddenly consistently selling and I think ive come down to these being the main points of advice i can give: 1. make friends! be friendly! don’t be weird! be a cool and fun person to interact with! 2. post consistently. post your dragons consistently. post about other stuff consistently. just be an active member of the community 3. POST YOUR SHIT IN THE “#FLIGHT RISING” TAG. THIS IS PROBABLY THE ONLY TRUELY HELPFUL THING I SAY IN THIS POST 4. make pairs that are sexy as hell and be openly proud of them. make dragons and pairs that you like, not what you think will necessarily sell. people can tell when you like stuff and being genuinely passionate about something, whatever the fuck it is, will get other people passionate as well longer versions/explanations under the cut because man this got a mile long. i wasn’t kidding when i said i think about this a lot and i am so sorry if you wanted something concise and useful

1. to be a little glib. i am mutuals/friends with more clout in the FR community than I do kjdshfdsfdhjhkfdf shoutout to everyone who draws their dragons really good on a regular basis because i am riding on your coattails to sell my dragons. i love you this was never my intent, obviously! 2. being consistent! just. posting consistently! posting Every Hatchling I Have and Talking About Them On Tumblr!  Once I had a couple nests just sell super fast likely due to aforementioned clout, i was emboldened to just post more of my nests more often and I swear this has more effect than anything else. i just needed the self-esteem boost to Start Doing That posting consistently makes ppl follow u for ur content which gets even more people to look at your dragons which gets more people to buy your dragons.

2a. Also just post a lot in general, even if you aren’t necessarily posting about your dragons for sale. it definitely helps! just be friendly and active and people will come

3. post your shit in the tag. not in “#dragon-sales” or “#fr-dragon-sales” or anything weird like that because I don’t know if anyone actually looks at those, but people definitely browse “#flight rising”. no matter how many followers you have, more people will see your content if you post it in #flight rising than if you just chuck it into the void.

3a. however! do not put links into the post if you want it to actually show up in the tag. tumblr is cool in that it doesn’t actually matter that much when you post something, the same way it really matters on twitter bc twitter has algorithms that decide for you what it thinks you want to be seeing whereas tumblr just shows you everything in chronological order. if you post something into the tag at 1am... it will still be there at 2pm when people log on and start scrolling.

the only thing tumblr seems to consistently hide from a tag (and possibly a dashboard, but idk) are posts with links in them, as a half-assed attempt to limit spam. instead of linking to your sales tab/to the dragons directly in the post, reblog it with the links instead. to reduce latency between a post going up and the links being available, i type out the links in the initial post, cut them, post the thing into the tag, then very quickly reblog, paste the links, and post the reblog jdhfsdf. i don’t know if that benefits anything really? but it can sometimes take me a while to type links, so if i posted, pressed reblog, typed up all the links, then posted, it’d be like ~15 minutes where someone may see the post, think “oh i would like to buy those dragons”, then can’t find the link, think “oh well, i will just find it later”, scroll on, and just... completely forget about it. so uh. go quick?

3b. the armchair sociologist in me also thinks self-reblogging has the added benefit of like... you know how people are more likely to tip a barista when a dollar is already in the tip jar? or how people are more likely to take one of those little tabs on a flyer if one of them is already missing? i think that works with notes, too. i don’t know why i think that or why it happens i just swear once a post gets 1 note, suddenly it gets Even More Notes, and if it doesn’t get any notes for a while it will sit at 0 notes until the end of time. so giving yourself 1 obligatory note makes people more likely to interact. i think

4. all of these are hard to quantify but this one is especially so: have cool and unique dragons. make your pairs sexy as hell. don’t put all your eggs (hah) into the one basket of selling dragons that are technically “popular”. we have all seen triple white/triple obsidian/triple orca/triple any other popular colors and cherub/pere/stained or wasp/bee/glim pthahlos or whatever. they’re pretty! we get it! but everyone has had one and everyone has had those pairs and market for dragons like that can be super oversaturated. try to break free from that and sell dragons that people can only get from you. I can’t tell you what to do though bc that rly depends on you. make pairs that you find exciting or interesting and people will feel that. i have a very specific theme and aesthetic that i don’t feel like is especially common on FR and i am genuinely very enthusiastic about it. marine shit is my Thing:tm: both on and off FR and dragons are one of my many ways of expressing that   if you have a Thing:tm:, either some fr-centric aesthetic (like being super into plague or earth or light or something) or something more general (such as any of the -punks or -cores)... just fuckin roll with it honestly. if you’re goth? make got h dragons. like scene stuff that looks straight out of a middle school in 2010? rock that hot-topic lair. outdoorsey type? make dragons that look like you’d meet them on a hike in the woods. it really works with anything!  people can tell when you really love something and i know that seeing someone really love something, even if it’s not necessarily MY thing, makes me really excited too!!

4a. never show fear. people can smell fear. never be like “well this one isn’t that good” because suddenly now you’ve planted the idea that it’s ugly in other people’s heads when they may have really liked it had you not accidentally suggested to them that it’s an ugly dragon. people are EXTREMELY suggestible to even VERY minor cues so be always a little bit bolder than you think you should be you’d be surprised at how many times ive been like “eh, this one’s kind of a dud, i’ll probably have to exalt this one when the auction expires” and then that hatchling is the first to sell. never ever ever ever decide what other people like for them. always act like your dragons are the hottest shit in all the land and Believe It. this is what people mean when they say “fake it till you make it”

- 4b. also, idk if it’s true of everyone but it’s really off-putting to see someone having serious pity-parties for themselves, on sales posts or otherwise. ive had bad experiences with people who are uncomfortably quick to self-depreciate (because they were using their genuine self-hatred to manipulate me or my friends), so i might be a little more trigger-happy about avoiding this behavior than others, but don’t weaponize your sadness to guilt people into doing what you want. it’s really not cool.

i don’t post about all the times i have to exalt dragons that don’t sell. you are seeing me being very selective about what i post. you dont sit and stare at my lair or click through offspring lists or check old sales posts. there are a lot of times where someone just doesn’t sell. even now when i’m selling stuff pretty consistently i will still sometimes have dragons that don’t sell for seemingly no reason. even dragons I think are sure to sell will sometimes just... not. and that’s ok! you gotta just be.. ok with that. it’s par for the course. i typically list dragons for 7 days on the AH, give them a couple more days after their auction expires (partially because i forget, partially to give them a grace period for people to pm/ask me about them), and then exalt them after that point. w/ some dragons that i don’t think got a fair shake for one reason or another (such as the sales post not showing up in the tag or something) i do a little clearance (like the halloween dragons i recently posted) but for the most part if they don’t sell, i just exalt them. 90% of the time i don’t even bother to level them up i just press the exalt button and call it a day. it’s fine

The supernatural thing bugs the hell out of me. Like, they’re really going to give in to a decade of shipping and finally make it canon and then immediately send the guy who just professed his gay love to Ultra Mega Hell while the guy he confessed his love to can barely refrain from calling him a slur? Nobody wanted that.

i have seen a lot of posts similar to this, and while i see the point i honestly didn’t read the scene as that way.

dean is really bad at showing emotions. he just realized everyone is going to die, he had sam at gun point earlier in the episode, like a lot was going on. as a viewer it did feel kind of out of the blue in the moment, but since that whole ‘cas true happiness’ bit got introduced i had a pipe dream it would be this. so here we are, literal death is about to breakdown the door and kill them, and cas does his confession. and honestly i think dean reacted like dean would? like if youre ‘straight’ dean who has difficulty showing emotions and your best friend of 11 years just suddenly confesses he loves you its gonna take a second to process. he was confused, this was sudden, he had no time to react, and then cas is just gone. and i think the part thats really telling is afterwards when he just fucking breaks. theres not a lot of times we see dean break. so idk how dean feels tbh, and maybe its the fact that i’ve been here for ten fucking years of my life but i think that was the break of someone who realized fuck my best friend is in love with me i thought i was straight but fuck maybe i love him too but now hes gone.

now on to sending gays to hell. again without context thats what it looks like but like this was cas’s moment of true happiness. god himself and plenty of other divine people have even made talked about how cas is in love with dean. like besides the occasional snide comment and bad joke from 2010, the show has never indicated that gay people go to hell (i actually feel like theyve said the opposite but im not looking for quotes rn). and dean, if he was homophobic, hasnt shown it in years. literally the episode before hes talking with charlie about her girlfriend. dean has grown a lot as a person. so again i think his reaction was purely just the shock of the situation.

now the kills your gays situation is a dick move. and im pissed about it. but also like they told us cas was gonna die after his moment of true happiness, and thats what happened, so it wasnt exactly a surprise in that sense. but i will form a proper opinion when the show is over cause stupid me still has hope. eileen is also supposedly super gone, destroyed by god, but i cant see them ending the show with just sam and dean (and possibly jack? Idk) alone. like that has zero growth in it. they wanted their whole lives to be out of this shit and for it to be over and all the reasons they wanted to be out of it to be gone like thats an awful ending. i guess i wouldnt put it past them but like again stupid me with the hope.

i am also not sure about jensen’s feeling about the situation, because he has not been very positive in the past and idk his opinion about things so that might have played a role, but he played the breakdown really well and very dean in my opinion and misha’s performance was great.

obviously, i could be wrong. i could be reading into it and putting too much faith in actual good storytelling. i’m also aware of the connations of everything you said, with the kill your gays and the hell and deans reaction, without context. and yes i think it could have been done better. i think a lot of the jokes are being made out of context, and they might be warranted, but again stupid me with the hope that the way that i read the scene before i checked tumblr was real.

anyway, people are having fun. yes the ship was bad and was a lot of queerbaiting and a lot of fetishization from a lot of people. but it was also important to a lot of queer people like me. supernatural is still important to a lot of queer people like me. its a found family show. people are just having fun, and outside-supernatural-tumblr got involved for better or worse. and the whole world situation is happening at the same time.

edit: this is not to discredit the queer fans of the show who are mad. they have every right to be mad. and this is not to forgive the writers for what they have done. they have been awful about this for years. this is just my opinion as a fan of the show. for me, it was exciting and i couldnt believe what had just happened. as a fan of this show for nearly ten years and fan of this ship since the beginning, i just didnt see it in the negative way a lot of people did.

Hello, everyone! This is the LONGEST TEXT EVER! I was inspired by the various other "longest texts ever" on the internet, and I wanted to make my own. So here it is! This is going to be a WORLD RECORD! This is actually my third attempt at doing this. The first time, I didn't save it. The second time, the Neocities editor crashed. Now I'm writing this in Notepad, then copying it into the Neocities editor instead of typing it directly in the Neocities editor to avoid crashing. It sucks that my past two attempts are gone now. Those actually got pretty long. Not the longest, but still pretty long. I hope this one won't get lost somehow. Anyways, let's talk about WAFFLES! I like waffles. Waffles are cool. Waffles is a funny word. There's a Teen Titans Go episode called "Waffles" where the word "Waffles" is said a hundred-something times. It's pretty annoying. There's also a Teen Titans Go episode about Pig Latin. Don't know what Pig Latin is? It's a language where you take all the consonants before the first vowel, move them to the end, and add '-ay' to the end. If the word begins with a vowel, you just add '-way' to the end. For example, "Waffles" becomes "Afflesway". I've been speaking Pig Latin fluently since the fourth grade, so it surprised me when I saw the episode for the first time. I speak Pig Latin with my sister sometimes. It's pretty fun. I like speaking it in public so that everyone around us gets confused. That's never actually happened before, but if it ever does, 'twill be pretty funny. By the way, "'twill" is a word I invented recently, and it's a contraction of "it will". I really hope it gains popularity in the near future, because "'twill" is WAY more fun than saying "it'll". "It'll" is too boring. Nobody likes boring. This is nowhere near being the longest text ever, but eventually it will be! I might still be writing this a decade later, who knows? But right now, it's not very long. But I'll just keep writing until it is the longest! Have you ever heard the song "Dau Dau" by Awesome Scampis? It's an amazing song. Look it up on YouTube! I play that song all the time around my sister! It drives her crazy, and I love it. Another way I like driving my sister crazy is by speaking my own made up language to her. It's a combination of three entire words. That's pretty neat. Also, remember when I said that I said the F word six times throughout this text? I actually messed up there. I actually said it ten times (including the plural form). I'm such a liar! I struggled to spell the word "liar" there. I tried spelling it "lyer", then "lier". Then I remembered that it's "liar". At least I'm better at spelling than my sister. She's younger than me, so I guess it's understandable. "Understandable" is a pretty long word. Hey, I wonder what the most common word I've used so far in this text is. I checked, and appearantly it's "I", with 59 uses! The word "I" makes up 5% of the words this text! I would've thought "the" would be the most common, but "the" is only the second most used word, with 43 uses. "It" is the third most common, followed by "a" and "to". Congrats to those five words! If you're wondering what the least common word is, well, it's actually a tie between a bunch of words that are only used once, and I don't wanna have to list them all here. Remember when I talked about waffles near the beginning of this text? Well, I just put some waffles in the toaster, and I got reminded of the very beginnings of this longest text ever. Okay, that was literally yesterday, but I don't care. You can't see me right now, but I'm typing with my nose! Okay, I was not able to type the exclamation point with just my nose. It's Hermnerps LTE, which is only slightly longer than the Flaming-Chicken LTE, at 230634 characters. My goal is to surpass THAT. Then I'll be the world record holder, I think. But I'll still be writing this even after I achieve the world record, of course. One time, I printed an entire copy of the Bee Movie script for no reason. I heard someone else say they had three copies of the Bee Movie script in their backpack, and I got inspired. But I only made one copy because I didn't want to waste THAT much paper. I still wasted quite a bit of paper, though. Now I wanna see how this LTE compares to the Bee Movie script. Okay, I checked, and the Bee Movie script is 50753 characters long. It’s where every group of consonant letters is reduced to the first consonant in that group of consonants, and same goes with the vowels. If a word ends up being just a single consonant with no vowel, put ‘a’ at the end. So “I like eating my waffles” becomes “I like etin ma wafes”. Isn’t it the most amazing thing ever? I remember the days of 2012-13. That was when I still played Roblox and made terrible YouTube videos. I was called "Infinite Budgets" back then. I also remember the days of 2016. A lot of people thought that was a terrible year, but for me personally, it brings me a lot of nostalgia because I talked a lot with my online friend at the time, and I did livestreams on YouTube and stuff. It was fun. 2016 was also when I got the phone that I still have to this day. Yup, my phone is three years old. My life was completely different when I got this phone: I was 11 years old, my YouTube channel actually had activity, and I wasn’t writing this text. I’m currently writing this in the car. We are on out way to the dollar store. And since I’m writing this on my phone, I’m making a lot more typos than usual. Some of them might make it through, so be prepared for that. I deleted it after some time though, so all that insanity is no more. I also used to own a Pig Latin server, but it got inactive so I deleted that too. We had some good memories in that server though. Now there’s a new Pig Latin server, but it’s not owned by me. Dang, my YouTube channel has been dead for so long. I haven’t posted a video in a year. Basically, there’s this conlang (constructed language, for those not in the know) server where we have a Sentence of the Week activity. In this activity, someone posts a text with a maximum of nine sentences, then people translate it into their own conlangs. My realization is this: if we take nine sentences from this LTE every week, there would be a whole year of sentences for people to translate. There are approximantly 523 sentences in this LTE. Divide that by 9 sentences each week, and you get 58 weeks worth of sentences, which is approximantly the number of weeks in a year. Quick maths. It's a language you can learn in probably five minutes, so why not give it a try? You may also enjoy Ubbi Dubbi, where you place 'ub' before every vowel sound. It's also a very easy language to learn, although not quite as popular. The thing is, none of these are even real languages. They're just codes, and very simple codes at that. You could probably crask Pig Latin or Ubbi Dubbi rather easily. Viesa too, actually. But I still enjoy them occasionally, even if Pig Latin and Ubbi Dubbi are inefficient and easy to crack, and Viesa is easy to crack yet unneccesarily difficult. I do make real languages, but I never put in the effort to learn them to fluency. At least I make them at all. I've been playing with this for a while now. Many of the seeds produce boring pictures, but some of them are nice. For example, I just used "e" as the seed and it produced a nice looking picture. If he had never shown me YouTube, I wouldn't be here writing this text, and you wouldn't be reading it. I've gone too far. But you know what I haven't gone too far with? This LTE. I don't think I even can go too far with writing this text. Unless this text gets so long that it surpasses the 1GB storage limit of Neocities. In which case, I'll need to upgrade to Supporter in order to get a 50GB storage limit. But what if the text gets so long that is surpasses that? I don't think I'll ever make it there. I mean, 50GB is about 50 trillion characters. So I think we're good. Last time I forced myself to complete a certain amount of something every day, it was overwhelming and I ended up losing motivation, thus letting down all my fans who were anticipating the August 30th, 2016 release date. Okay, the amount of eager fans was probably a number you could count on one hand, but still. By the way, if you're wondering what this "something" was, it was GoAnimated Garbage: The Movie, which was supposed to be an hour long episode of a series I made to make fun of random GoAnimate videos. In case you're not the type of person who knows what GoAnimate is... hoo boy. Basically, it's a drag-and-drop animation website infamous for the "grounded videos" that people made with it, among other types of videos. It's this whole community that I neither can explain nor want to explain. But I had somewhat of an association with that community back in the day. On my YouTube channel, I used to make a genre of GoAnimate video known as the "OS video". Typically an OS video is where some sort of hated character within the GoAnimate community forcefully installs their operating system onto a user's computer, and the user has to deal with this OS until they eventually find a way to "destroy" it. I made five of these videos. In chronological order: Caillou OS, Boots OS, Franklin OS, Little Bill OS, and Crap OS X. Caillou OS is the most viewed video on my main channel, which is unsurprising since Caillou is pretty much THE character associated with the GoAnimate community. When I made that video, it was a big transition for my channel. The channel's name was changed from Infinite Budgets, which had been my name since 2013 when I made crappy Roblox videos, to Allisima. All of my old videos were deleted, with the exception of my "Barney Errors", which was yet another genre of GoAnimate video. Basically, a Barney error is when a user's computer/console/whatever session is interrupted by a "Barney Error", a message informing the user that Barney has been killed, and the device must not be turned off because it's an "important message". There's also a bomb that's placed in Barney's "lair", the timer for which is displayed in the error. The user gets some amount of "chances", and every time the device is turned off, the user looses a chance and the time until the bomb explodes decreases. Eventually, the user turns off the computer enough times that there are no more chances left, the bomb explodes, and some sort of punishment happens. These punishments can range from having to downgrade your operating system, to having your computer destroyed, and in extreme cases, even to death. I once made a whole channel for Barney Errors, where I made about twenty of them before quitting. After that, I eventually quit GoAnimate all together, but I still made Crap OS X, an OS video made with Powerpoint. But it's on the Internet, and since recently, on my homepage, so I know people are gonna read it. Really the only reason I'm making this is because I have a weird obsession for writing giant walls of text. Guess what? I just added translations of this LTE into various conlangs on my website! But they're all very incomplete, and I probably won't finish them ever... I mean, if I'm gonna finish any of them, 'twill probably be the Viesa translation since it's the easiest to do. Hey, 'twill's back! I remember the very beginnings of this LTE, when I first mentioned 'twill. That was 40,000 characters ago. Appearantly I'm measuring time with characters now. Hey, what's the average amount of text I write per day in this LTE? The four month gap probably significantly drops that amount. Let's see! The trouble is finding out when I started writing this LTE, because I don't know the exact date. I'm just gonna estimate that it was March 12, based on the amount of times I said goodnight before I said "Happy Pi Day". It's not a very accurate measurement, though, because sometimes I stop writing for the day without saying goodnight. But anyways, from March 12 to today, July 16, is 127 days. As of that previous sentence, there are 42,549 characters in this LTE. 42,549 characters divided by 127 days equals about 335 characters per day. That's not very much at all. To get an idea of how short that is, the first 335 characters of this LTE consist of about 64 words and 8 sentences. As I predicted, the four months of no activity had a big impact on this number. But what if we ignore the 4 month gap, which was from March 15 to July 9, I've only been working on this LTE for ten days. 42,549 characters divided by 10 days is about 4254 characters. That's much better. It might be that big because of the 12,600 characters I wrote yesterday. I said I wouldn't do it every day, but honestly, I'm feeling like doing a goal again today. The end of the decade is approaching fast. I’m a bit excited, because I’ll have significant memories from more than just one decade! My earliest significant memories started in Kindergarden, which was in 2010. This means that I only really remember one decade. But now that an entirely new decade is coming up, I’ll be able to remember another! Part of me feels like I shouldn’t be excited over this, since the boundaries between years is arbitrary, and a decade is 10 years only because we count in base 10, so if we counted in base 12 or something, a decade would be 12 years long. okay so i have three series going on and each of my main characters takes on a different version of me which is lame bc i should be able to write and create original characters yadda yadda. (i have ocs so it's fine)

my bnha one is the closest to me bc the mc is sappy but also anxious and awkward and walks the fine line between like "going off of the deep end"/ the darker parts of humanity like how people react to a corrupt society and being bullied, and mental illness. love and following your dreams. crushed dreams and the power to fight back against the oppresor. being unable to side completely with one person because the two of you have split paths and trying to find that place where you can meet. trans rights as well

my harry potter one is the part of me that is sweet and caring but still wants to fit in and desires friendship and the feeling of finally fitting in and not being ostracized. loneliness contrasting with the fact that there are aspects of yourself that make you stand out and how that can help your friends. and the power of choosing your own destiny (once again sappy). also gender expression and the spectrum of sexuality

my jujutsu kaisen one is the part of me that i keep reigned in: it's my love for those closest to me, found family and staying true to your desires. it's me without impulse control and a shitload of power. love friendship, sappyness that easily gets interrupted by hardship or the goody parts of life. frustration and rebellion against corruption. how sometimes the villain is right but because they're going about it the wrong way you might find ideology and desires conflicting

but also i feel like im not conveying them. they're there but none of them are the story of a century especially not to my readers.maybe im trying to hard or im coming off too casual/ witty but i don't want to make them dark and grueling to read. i wish i was as talented as you

Second off: Everything I’ve typed makes no sense.

So, I’ve documented over 80 original characters I’ve created since like 2010/2011.  I’m pretty sure there’s more but they’re just on my desktop hard drive.  Most of their personalities have just been part of mine.  I also don’t think all of my characters (reader inserts included) are all that great.  I don’t do this as badly anymore but they still have aspects of my personality.  I could even explain for each one of them (except for Resentment and Next To You, I don’t see myself in them as much).

I know I say this a lot but I’m turning 22 this year and I’ve been writing since I was about 9 and writing fanfiction since I was 11.  I’ve just recently learned how to create characters where they are not 100% part of me.

When writing a character that is part of us, sometimes we make that character make the same decisions we would but that doesn’t always make for an exciting story.  We feel like we understand the character’s characterization entirely but we don’t really because we never really try to look at it.  We think that “well, they’re part of me, so I’ll know how to write it” but it doesn’t always work out like that.

If you want your story to be “the story of the century”, then figure out how you want to approach it.  Point of view is incredibly important because setting it up in a certain way will help the story be better (I guess that’s the word).  Point of view doesn’t just mean first, second, third but means who are we?

In my personal opinion, I like writing y/n as not the person we see everything through.  Yes, it’s important to learn how they feel and think but you can learn more from how someone reacts to those around them.  Or there’s setting up the stage where people have done their pov and then it’s y/n’s turn.  It paints a picture that you wouldn’t have if it was just y/n’s pov.  This is what I meant by pov.  Write first, second, or third all you want to but just figure out the angle you want to write it at first.

There’s nothing wrong with characters being part of you.  It’s nice to write them like that sometimes.  I think it’s more how you show your characters off that matters more than anything else.  I believe all of your stories will be the stories of the century, it just takes time.  Wait until they’re completed before you say they’re not.

I’m sorry that none of this makes sense.  I’m very tired.

What are your headcanons and/or feelings about Blair and Harris?

Ahhh first of all thank you for your patience anon! I’ve had a wild (and unfortunately pretty uninspired) couple of weeks but now i have a ton of ideas so here they are. btw these are super unorganized and non-time-centric and pretty much plotless and random lmao anyways let’s get into it:

-harris is a by-default, die-hard back sleeper. sure, he’ll spoon and cuddle, but he won’t fall asleep like that. he’ll just lie awake all night if he’s anywhere but on his back. blair’s also kinda weirded out by being the little spoon just bc he isn’t used to it. he’s been sleeping next to a woman half a foot shorter than him all his life so it’s basically weird all around. harris will roll over like thirty minutes into the night (when he thinks blair is asleep) and they’ll both get comfortable from there.

-blair’s a really tactile person though and he likes knowing that the person next to him in bed is still there if that makes sense? plus hes always waking up freezing so he likes to be close to harris. one night kinda early in their monogamous-ish relationship he wakes up at like 3 in the morning and decides to just. crawl on top of harris. harris is obvs on his back, and blair just hitches his outside leg over harris’s hips, rests his head on his chest, and sort of lies mostly on his stomach and practically on top of harris. he sleeps like the dead for the rest of the night. 

-harris wakes up and he’s like “well fuck i cant move now” not that he wants to and it’s a saturday morning anyways so he just cards his fingers through blair’s hair and harris thinks he could get used to this

-they both tend to leave their wedding rings on when they’re together because once they both lost them and they only had 15 mins until harris needed to meet corky and it was a huge disaster. blair loves to spin harris’s around his finger since he’s almost always holding his hand in some capacity anyways, and harris loves to just stare at blair’s bc godDAMN if that isn’t the most beautiful piece of jewelry he’s ever seen. first, it symbolizes a pretty excellent arrangement between blair and tiff that makes it possible for harris to even be with him. second, it’s set with the biggest stone he’s ever seen. it’s a 12 carat emerald cut emerald and it’s gorgeous in the light ok im done talking about blair’s wedding ring lmao

-once corky walks in on them in the harris house and they’re obv shaken as hell, but she doesn’t even care. she’s like “oh hey guys” and just walks to the kitchen. obviously they’re like “uh what the hell” so they go ask her what her nonchalance is all about and she’s just like “i know. ive known for months. kissing at the country club? subtle” but she’s obviously just teasing and harris is just like “you aren’t pissed?” and she’s like “should i be?” and blair comes out of his shock for a minute to be like “uh yeah kinda?” and harris just elbows him like “why are you looking a gift horse in the mouth” and she’s like “yeah, i don’t think i really care. huh. i don’t really care” and no offense but it’s kind of the best day of harris’s life

-harris has a lot of traumatic memories from conversion therapy (showtime you’re wild asf for writing this in fuk u) and blair’s really good at calming him down if harris is panicking. blair’s been through his fair share of traumatic shit as we all know and tiff made him start going to a therapist, so he knows a bunch of techniques to prevent/stop panic attacks. harris is actually shocked at how quickly blair can calm him down. he’s curious too as to how he knew how to do that, but he figures it’s a question for another day

-that day comes a couple weeks later when they’re lying in bed, blair in what is now his standard sleeping position: outside leg over harris’s waist and his head on harris’s chest, practically draped over harris. harris can’t sleep, so he’s just staring at blair and running his hands over his back when he notices how rough his skin feels. he can’t really see, but he remembers to check in the morning before blair wakes up, and he notices--really notices for the first time--that his back and arms are littered with scars. he asks him the next day at breakfast, and he’s never seen blair freeze up like that. he explains his whole past with his dad (slowly and not without crying) and above all harris is just really glad that he could help blair and that blair trusts him enough to tell him

-MOMENTARY NSFW: this is kind of already canon from 2x02 but blair likes having his hair pulled ok goodbye

-they seem like the type of couple that would be together for years? like YEARS. they come out in like 2010 and get married in 2011 after having divorced tiff and corky in like the mid-90s no i do not take constructive criticism

-again, they’re in bed, standard sleeping position. harris can generally tell when blair’s fallen asleep; he can feel and see when his breathing evens out. he’s running his hands over blair’s back, just watching him, and he just looks so serene and peaceful that he can’t help but whisper “i love you” for the first time. of course this has to be the ONE time harris misjudges blair’s sleep and blair looks up. thankfully blair smiles, kisses him, and says “i love you too” 

-harris’s gay and out friends hear that harris is going steady with this guy he met, and they’re nothing short of shocked. roger harris? monogamous? that’s absurd. so they meet this guy (blair duh dkjfhglkfdjh), and they’re surprised to actually recognize him from all those tabloids and TV spots and shit. (secretly, they had always had the suspicion that blair was gay, but the confirmation is nice). he’s actually pretty likable, and they’re about to feel bad for him (because they know harris is the human manifestation of the word “infidelity”) until they see how they act together. like, harris seems really genuinely into him. his friends have never seen him like this, all lovestruck and shit. his friends are somehow even more shocked and genuinely cannot believe their eyes. they talk to him about his relationship with blair later and he’s like “what can i say? i genuinely like him. i really, really like him” and they’re shocked speechless

-blair is a TOTAL baby gay and harris thinks it’s equal parts adorable and hilarious. harris didn’t realize blair hadn’t been with other men before he blurted it out at the country club, but it makes so much sense that harris is almost embarrassed he didn’t realize it sooner. harris will use any sort of gay slang and blair will just be utterly lost. blair is always super eager to learn though and harris ofc thinks it's adorable how excited he gets to learn and fit in so he’s happy to indulge him. blair’s kinda like a boomer trying to use gen z slang for a while but he eventually gets the hang of it, and sooner than later blair can take off his wedding ring and pass for an out-and-proud gay man to anybody who looks in his direction

i did a post abt my ongoing/future reading list but only included novels/nonfiction, not manga! so i want to also note what i am currently reading + want to read :) under the cut!

ongoing/caught up - witch hat atelier!!!!! (also known as tongari boushi no atorie, hence my tag “tbna” if youve seen that and wondered what it was about.) I LOVE WITCH HAT ATELIER. it has some of the most stunning art i have ever seen in all my life and the character writing is incredible. highly recommend. if you like fascinating fantasy worldbuilding, excellent art, and characters (many of whom exude Gender) ... i recommend giving it a read! i first read it bc of a wonderful meta post abt disability themes in the series and it has since overtaken my life in the best way. anyway!!!!! thats it

death note (im like 20 chapters in?) -- reading because it is a COMEDY. god it is so fucking funny. there’s no way it was meant to be. but like. the (accidental?) comic timing of the paneling is just too good. i’d never actually read it before this and didn’t know who L was vs Light lmao. all i knew was the cool apple demon. anyway

jujutsu kaisen -- started it because i love some good shounen hijinks. i cannot resist shounen hijinks! actually, im kind of lying. the reason i started it was i saw a post describing gojo as having a “high on bath salts personality” and that cinched it for me

a silent voice -- i am trying to re-learn how to read basic japanese, so i figured it would be good practice to read slice-of-life manga written for kids (the furigana helps me so much lmao). honestly, it’s been great practice. i found a site called bilingual manga, which allows you to toggle between japanese + the eng translations, so i can try and see how much i can comprehend and then see how much i got. i’ve also learned a bunch of new words just by reading, so it’s nice to strengthen my vocabulary that way too. i can’t really comment on the story too much because im reading so slowly that im only on chapter one!

planning to (re/)read

2021 is the year of Fullmetal Alchemist (it’s its 20th anniversary which is bonkers) so i am planning to do a reread. i started earlier in the year but then got distracted by other stuff. still, i’m hoping to do a complete reread! i haven’t read the full series since it first finished publication back in 2010, and i never finished watching brotherhood either, so i’m excited to reread.

dungeon meshi -- i’ve started it! but i started it right around the time i read witch hat (all in one day lol) & didn’t get very far because i spent the next week rereading witch hat lololol. BUT. i am really excited to read it! i should honestly make it take precedence over jjk in the reading list but... here we are. anyway!

mushishi -- i loveeeeee mushishi. i’ve read and watched it sporadically throughout the years, but i want to read the manga start to end. it’s really gorgeous and atmospheric and i, a lover of odd bugs/creatures, love the world of mushi so much. plus i gotta continue my Year of the One-Eyed White Haired Anime Man* (* i know witch hat is not an anime. but it rolls off the tongue)

anyway, i don’t know how regularly i’ll keep up with updating these things, but i like to track my reading progress/habits and i don’t always update stuff on goodreads for various reasons. thank you for reading if you read this far!!!!!

i’ve played the sims since 2007. its been a huge creative outlet for me and a way to work through different thoughts and feelings i’ve had for over half my life. i thought itd be fun to look at some of the different content i’ve made over the years and talk a lil about how much its changed and how much ive changed in conjunction with that

2010-2011

i was 12-13 and had been playing sims for about 3 years. i watched a lot of teen drama sims series that made me wanna get into video editing. once ts3 came out, i made a channel with my childhood friend and we’d stay up til like 3 AM making ts3 music videos. i was an emo binch so it was all like cringey vampire stuff. my biggest inspo in this period was probably jaydee227′s badass music videos and noojim’s Life of Rose series that still slaps to this day

2012-2013

2012 was a big year in that i figured out how to torrent sony vegas and every second of my free time was spent editings MEPs (multi editor project) i tried to make some sims series but hardly ever got past episode 1 each time. it was a fun year tho, full of content i’m still kinda proud of.

my biggest inspo was 3WordsArentEnough’s Stealing Heaven and Foreverloudx’s Seeking Harmony (he once commented on one of my videos and i was so excited i cried)

2013-2014

ok so cringe alert: i first joined tumblr in 2013. and it became my whole life; i was quoting the jokes, i was watching all the fandom show, i even read homestuck, just to put the icing on the cringe cake. i hadn’t done anything i was rlly passionate about in a while and was starting to get the lonely teen blues, so i needed a project. i made this rlly elaborate plan for a sims series about a girl travelling the world to meet all her tumblr friends. planning sucked up all 2013, and i never got past editing the intro.

2015

by 2015, i hadn’t done anything with sims for a while, and it really bothered me that something i cared so much about was just becoming a part of my distant past. i decided that the issue was i was trying too hard to emulate other ppl’s creations, so i decided to make something i wanted to make, unlike anything else ive seen. i planned it out for months, writing a complex world with detailed lore. and i still didn’t get past editing the intro.

BUT!! i did learn something important that is main reason why im still a part of the sims community today; sims is fuckin limitless, man. all the content that i’ve been wanting to see in traditional media but knew would never happen, i could just CREATE. this project rlly helped me through the feelings of nihilism, feeling like a burden, and internalized homophobia that i was feeling at the time, and i still think about it a lot.

2016

in 2016, i started a private sim story blog, where i’d write sims stories without the pressures of an audience. i wrote two stories there, one about a failing college campus tv show and another about a vampire throuple raising a 200-year old agender vamp kid together. i’m rlly proud of them and i still go back every few months to re-read them, if not just for the lines above.

2018

once i gained a lil confidence with photo-editing, i decided to just peep a lil into simblr and see if i could make a couple friends. i didn’t expect it to become such a big part of my life, but it v quickly did. i met some amazing people, started making cc, and just lived my dam best life. i think i started taking it way too seriously tho and it just became p stressful. i also missed creating content for just myself, so i decided to delete. i dont rlly regret that tbh, but i dont regret all the fun experiences i had on there either!

after about a half a year break, i started getting into editing CAS screenies again. then i started collecting pics of stuff i wanted to make into CC. coming back on a new blog seemed like a good idea, tho i decided that i would just make it a hobby this time around, and wouldn’t guilt myself for taking breaks when i want to.

so that brings me to now! lots has changed over the years, but sims has been a nice constant in my life. not sure what the 2020′s r gonna hold, but im glad to be able to have a creative outlet i can use like this!!

I find it extremely hard to articulate but i am grateful for this space, I am grateful for all of you, and I am grateful for people who have become my friends.

this space – this specific blog – has been a space for me to escape into since 2010 when i was a teenager.

i’ve always been shy and socially anxious and i have very few social reserves at the ready, so you can all probably understand how draining this past week has been (even though it has been magical and exciting). 

when i delay in responding to messages, when i am remiss in responding promptly to asks/ask memes/texts/chats, it is not personal and it is not a slight against an individual. i just simply cannot bring myself to respond in a way that satisfies whatever criteria i have in my mind or at least in a way that feels meaningful.

on most days it feels like i’m choking because the words just don’t exist and it’s just easier to ramble or write or so something that doesn’t directly affect other people because the thought of disappointing people w/ my lackluster interactions is so much more horrible to me than anything else. 

it is so much easier to “blog” and post text posts and respond to people at a higher level than it is to respond in more intimate ways. (exhibit a: this post – it was so much easier to just write this generally...to nobody and to everybody all at once than to direct it to a specific person)

sometimes i just want to lie down and never wake up – more abstractly, sometimes i just want to never post anything ever again and just disappear so i can forget about this website and all the awful things it has made me feel over the past little while.

but silver linings, always: u guys make it better and i try to do the same in return whenever i can

idk, just thank u for putting up w/ me. i’m just very tired all the time and i wish it weren’t so apparent and i wish it didn’t make me come off as this horrible person. most of you make my desire to sometimes be alone feel a lot less like loneliness and more like solidarity.

 and i just want to do the best i can to return the favor to this fandom generally and to the kindness that has been shown towards me. i just think that one day im just gonna disappoint all of you. 🤷‍♀️

Most popular oneshot: In this fandom, As Sunlight Drinketh Dew, which is probably the most explicit thing I’ve written for this pairing, and was also my first attempt at writing Jaime POV.

Across all the fandoms I’ve written in, and keeping in mind that a good chunk of my fanfic pre-dates the AO3 so this answer is really only in relation to the stories I’ve posted since around 2010, my most popular oneshot is, surprisingly, A Night to Remember. This is a Phryne/Jack Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries fic, which is also on the explicit side. (I think I’m sensing a pattern.) It’s one of those stories that just doesn’t die. I can never pick which ones those are going to be.

Most popular multi-chapter story: In this fandom, More Than a Memory. This was the first story I wrote for this fandom, apart from a couple of drabbles years and years ago, and it just came pouring out of me after the finale aired. I was very surprised that it had any real following at all, because I was a completely unknown writer in this fandom and the story is canon compliant right up to the end of Season 8, with everything that that means for this pairing.

In my fandoms on AO3 overall, the most popular multi-parter is A Fine Romance, which is an unfinished Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them newtina fic. I had to stop writing it for a while because my health crashed in mid-2017, and then the second movie pretty comprehensively jossed my plans for the rest of the story, but I think it captured the fandom vibe at the time it was being posted.

Favorite story you wrote: Right now, it’s probably Beloved, part of my After Everything fix-it universe (written partly to make up for writing More Than a Memory) because it’s a very ‘me’ story, and also because even though I finished it a few days ago, it’s still hanging around in my head. Once I get back to working on my Regency AU, You I Know, that will be the favourite, because that’s the story I’ve wanted to write for YEARS.

So far as past fandoms go, I’m still very fond of my Once Upon a Time rumbelle AU Plain Jane. That’s another one of those ‘me’ stories.

Story you were nervous to post: I feel as if I should say More Than a Memory, because I really honestly expected that hardly anyone would read it, but it was one of those stories that wouldn’t let me NOT write it, so it wasn’t like I had a choice about it. I just threw it out there.

I think probably As Sunlight Drinketh Dew was the one I was actually most nervous about, because it was my first time trying out Jaime POV, and that sort of thing is always nerve-racking.

As for stories from past fandoms... I can’t really remember? Except that I always HATE my stories right before I post them, so in that sense they all make me nervous.

How you choose your titles: On a wing and a prayer? Titles are the bane of my existence. Sometimes, if I’m really lucky, the title will come to me very early on, which is a huge relief. Other times, I’ll have a story finished and edited and ready to go - except that I don’t know what it’s called. Then I get out my big book of quotations, and google lyrics, and just hope to god that something jumps out at me. 

Weirdly, I haven’t had my usual titling trouble for most of the stories I’ve written in this fandom, but that might be more just my attitude. A vaguely appropriate title will cross my mind and I’ll just seize it and decide that “That’ll do!” It’s nice not to have to deal with these little title-related stress-outs.

Do you outline: Hahaha. I’ve TRIED to outline in the past. I just end up with scene drafts instead. 

My usual approach is to have a list of bullet points of the main plot beats, plus any other reminders to myself of details that I’m going to need further down the line. For my longer stories, I think of my list of bullet points as making up the skeleton, and then the flesh and blood of detail happens as I write. But no, I really wouldn’t dignify any of that with the description of ‘outline’. Outlining is something that happens to other people, I’m afraid.

Complete: In this fandom, 23. However, 18 of those complete stories belong to series that are still on-going, so their storylines are not yet complete even though the stories themselves are.

Overall? I have 122 complete works on the AO3, but that doesn’t include every fic I’ve ever written, so the actual answer is... I don’t know?

In-progress: In this fandom, two actual stories and two series. I need to get back to my Regency AU, You I Know, very soon. It’s currently at Chapter 8 of... many. I’m also partway through writing the second and last chapter of the latest Aussie Coffee ‘verse fic, On the first day of Christmas (my true love gave to me). In terms of series, obviously Aussie Coffee is still not finished - I still have another five (hopefully) short instalments to write once the Christmas fic is done - and After Everything still has at least one more story to go (which I’m currently working on).

In other fandoms... I think I’ll just sweep a few stories under the rug and pretend that they don’t exist.

Coming soon/not yet started: Coming soon: A Sansa bystander POV fic from right at the beginning of After Everything, when the ‘after’ bit hasn’t started yet - I’m not writing that series in chronological order. Also, the rest of the Christmas Day fic from Aussie Coffee, and FINALLY a new chapter of the Regency AU.

Not yet started: I have an idea for a musician AU kicking around in the back of my head, but it’s right at the bottom of the priority list, and probably will be for some time.

Do you accept prompts: I do sometimes, if I’m in the mood, or if I don’t have anything more pressing to write. (So yeah, not so much with the prompts right at the moment!) Usually only drabble prompts, though. I have two writing modes: drabbles of exactly 100 words, no more and no less, and “who the hell knows how long this thing will be?” I’d rather not get into anything in the second category by accident.

Upcoming story you are most excited to write: Regency, Regency, Regency!!!! I have SO MUCH planned for this story. I’m going to stuff every last Regency detail and plot point that I can think of into it - and I’ve been reading about and researching this period for decades, so I can think of A LOT. I’ve wanted to write a novel-length Regency AU through several fandoms, but I’ve never been well enough to commit to it before. But now, for some reason, I am well enough to just keep writing most days, and so I’m not losing writing momentum, and things like this are finally possible. AND I AM SO EXCITED ABOUT EVERYTHING ABOUT IT!!!!!

But the rest of the Aussie Coffee ‘verse is also going to be fun to write. The path it’s going to take isn’t the one that might seem most likely right now...
