i’m really curious bc i feel like i see a lot of people against mithan (not me personally, i’m p neutral on them!) but i’m curious to know all your thoughts on them! thoughts on their canon relationship, their fanon portrayal, the backlash against them/mia accusations, and your headcanons? i’m just really interested!!! hopefully that’s not weird :”)

i personally hc them t4t and i like to think that the dated in highschool before they both had fully transitioned

mia likes to bake and ethan likes to scrap book and he always likes to take pictures of mias cakes/ baked goods and has a album for them 😭

i am a multishipper so i draw a lot of ethan ships so my girl is left out sometimes and im sorry mia 😔

i actually really like their relationship, its a really complex dynamic that i like to talk about with my friends

i think the issue is that when talking about mithan or mia in general, theres just SO MUCH misinformation that its honestly a pain the butt to talk about

people still think that she was responsible for the creation of eveline, people still think that she experimented on eveline, people still use examples of her attacking ethan as if she did it on her own will instead of being mind controlled

in reality she was just someone who oversaw the transportation of evie. im not excusing her or anything because obviously she knew what she was doing, but people really try to accuse her of doing something she didnt and it bothers me alot lol

the problem with the fandom is that people either try to water her down to girlboss who did nothing wrong and fail to acknowledge the complexity/ moral grayness of her character and the other side is misogynists 😭😭😭😭

its hard to talk about her without people either going "stop trying to villainize her and make her look bad!" or people ACTUALLY villainizing her and acting like heisenberg would have treated him better 😭😭

mithan is such a sad relationship because they loved each other so much and that ended up being the reason their relationship fell apart (sort of... its not like the broke up... ethan kinda just straight up died)

i get a lot a trouble for saying this, but mia is a selfish person.

its not a bad thing! well i mean it is but it doesnt make her some evil witch who is somehow worse than the guy how made a werewolf american ninja warrior. its just a major character flaw she has! which is good! mia being a flawed person who makes mistakes and morally gray decisions make her a more interesting person!

she is selfish in the way that she wants to keep her family with her no matter the cost. even if it means lying to ethan about her job so that he wont think different of her. here is a interrogation from the re7 DLC, which is easy to miss!

she isnt necessarily trying to apologize for the things she has done, she is more of a, "u wont need to forgive me in the first place if we just forget it all and move on"

she doesn't try to redeem herself for what she has done, she tries to move on and return to the normal life that she wants so bad. which is fine! everyone copes a different way and she has to right to move on from her trauma. the problem that lies in this is that she has a shared trauma with ethan who still has no idea what went on in dulvey and still effects him till the present (he is mold! this is a important thing to know! most people would want to know if they were a walking corpse)

she played a direct part in what happened in dulvey, and im not referring to the email, she did not send that. she never wanted ethan to come in the first place. she tried her best to send a video to him, begging him to forget about her because she wanted to protect him, BUT it didnt send.

he got involved because she was involved. its honestly a series of really really unfortunate events.

THOUGH! she did know what she was getting into. im tired of seeing the narrative that mia was innocent and didnt know what was going on or was simply a bystander. she knew what she was doing, she knew eveline was a bioweapon, she knew eveline was a child. she used a MACHINE GUN! she knows how to use weapons and was obviously trained for it.

she tried her best to keep everybody out of the mess, ex: warning the bakers not to take them in, warning ethan not to find her, sacrificing herself for ethan in the later half of re7

but again, those are the consequences of HER actions

her consequences just happen to get really big and end up hitting ethan on the head like a metal sheet 😭

their relationship is really so interesting, it makes me really sad to think about sometimes 😭they both went through something that nobody else would ever understand, in the end they really only have each other. they get moved to an entire different country and the dulvey incident gets covered up with a "gas leak"

its really tragic because their marriage definitely had some flaws and bumps. and i know im repeating myself but its because people always take this in the worst way possible but just because i say their relationship was rocky doesnt mean im saying they dont love each other!!! thats the entire basis of mias character!! saying she doesnt love ethan would destroy her entire character!

you can see in the re8 DLC how fondly ethan talks about mia! he loves her so much, though im not sure if his comments in the DLC are him narrating current (post re8) or his thoughts before everything went down and he died (pre re8)

everything mia did was because she LOVED ethan. she would never do anything to intentionally hurt him, she is not a cruel person. she hides the truth of her job from ethan pre re7 because she loves him and doesnt want her job to drive them apart. she CONTINUES to refuse to tell ethan the truth post re7 because she wants to move on a live a happy normal life with him and knows something like her being directly associated with the connections would probably cause (more) problems. she refuses to tell ethan that he is mold because again, hard to live a happy marriage with your husband after you tell him hes a bioweapon.

obviously i dont think it was right that she did this, thats what makes her selfish! she did it for herself! she did it for her family! she thought it would work out, she thought that they could move on and be happy together.

the issue is that ethan didnt want to forget. he wanted to know what happened, he wanted to know the part mia played, he wanted answers! which is reasonable! he knows to some extent that mia was partially responsible for his involvement and he was always suspcious that mia was lying to him about her job which is implied when mia says "you were right, i did lie to you"

she doesnt learn, she doesnt stop lying, her lies get bigger and worse and it sucks yeah but it makes her so interesting!!! she keeps doing stupid things under the idea that this is whats best for her and her family, that if she hides this everything will work out and it will be for the better but its not!

just because telling your husband hes dead and a bioweapon is a hard subject to bring up doesnt mean you DONT bring it up. people shouldnt use that as a reason to excuse mia 😭, its a very bad excuse and honestly highlights how horrible their communication skills were. you cant just not tell your husband that he is actually infected with the mold and not tell him for the tree years between post re7 and pre re8.

im not saying these things to put mia down, or try and villanize her. these are all just actual things her character does! she isnt evil, but she isnt a knight in shining armor either. we need to be able to have talks about complex characters without crying everytime someone points out a flaw. characters have flaws! and mia just happens to have a lot of them!

im not mad at her, i dont dislike her because i think this way of her. shes a fictional character! you can like characters that are morally gray, or villains that drink blood and make corpse soldiers. they are fictional! pointing out the flaws of a character does not mean i dont like them.

i wouldnt call her "the real villain of re8" but i wouldnt treat her like a damsel in distress either. she is a competent person, she knows what shes doing, she has her reasons for doing them. she made bad descions with good intentions behind them! they can coexist and we should let them!

i like mithan! its a complex relationship because they both love each other so much but hurt each other in the process

talking about them is just a pain in the butt because talking about mia is a pain in the butt lol

i really hate how she keeps getting sidelined, its super frustrating to see mia get put in a cage in every game 😭

its even more frustrating that mia straight up just disappears???? in the shadows of rose DLC... like she just stops taking care of rose and theres nothing said about it. no reason or explanation. i dont think mia would ever ditch rosemary because she didnt care about her, but we probably will never know because capcom sucks at writing and they probably forgot the mia ever even existed.

all in all, i think the fandom is really just full of misinformation which make people either think mia is some horrible evil person, or its full of people who think that saying mia messed up is the equivalent of comparing her to wesker lol.

i really love mia, shes a incredibly fun and complex character, its just hard to enjoy her sometimes with the people in the fandom haha.

also ive got no idea what u meant by "the backlash against them/mia accusations" so sorry if i didnt answer that!

an analysis on yazs issues with connections, trust, and (possible) abandonment bc i cant stop thinking about it:

this was supposed to be just an analysis abt her in just one scene, but i am not normal so its way longer now

aka the yasmina fadoula is NOT good at relationships with people long post. its long as hell and less of a post and more of an ordeal. also i bolded the dialogue if its not by yaz. youre welcome to add on to the post, esp in the miscellaneous sections. spoilers for all seasons under the cut

yasmina fadoula is a bit of a loner. of course we dont get to really see this a lot beyond s1 as they bond a lot after that lol. but i would like outline two scenes in particular. weve seen this less than social expressed before in the season (the part where brook tries to film her comes to mind) but i would like to firstly mention the scene where sammy first tries to talk to her. when first mentioned in the episode, yaz is a distance away from the rest of the campers, drawing (this most likely just for plot reasons, but i find it interesting how shes with them but not hanging out. together but isolated). in this scene kenji also says she probably just wants to be alone. sometimes. the very next scene she continues the behavior of sitting close to where kenji/brooklynn/darius/ben hang out, but not interacting with them, instead trying to wipe down her book (note: she also is very clearly listening to the conversation in this scene). and this is when sammy comes in, with an absolutely unabashed offer of friendship, heart on her sleeve so to speak. and yaz just is caught off guard. when sam says “no one likes the shell. it stops people from getting to know you,” yaz responds with “bingo,” and thats what leads me to believe that human connection has hurt her before. shes not ready to let someone in, not ready to play with fire again. but, this conversation, the “im not giving up,” line we hear in s3, leaves the door open for more. maybe they could be acquaintances

now, in the episode, what we see is yaz not really being used to someone as boisterous as sammy, especially with sammy wanting to be friends so clearly. and with the likelihood of yaz probably not having friends, being with sammy would probably be like being at a party but with no quiet corner to sink into. but through some blunders and a bit of life threatening danger (par for the course in this show) and a speech that was Most Definitely Totally All For The Dinosaur, I Swear You Guys has yaz realize that she can trust sammy. and maybe its not easy, but its worth a shot. it maybe awkward and clumsy, but hey, shes only here for a bit, why not talk to someone. and maybe shes not really a hugger, but she can let it go

i also would like to note the reason yaz states for taking up drawing, “to kill time during track meets”. interesting. also one the drawings is of what we can assume is a t rex eating a person. now, if you remember, darius’s story at the beginning actually mentions a t rex. maybe its coincidence, maybe yaz was actually listening to the story all along.

but thats just with the other campers, how about the other people we see in the series? lets start with eddie. when we first see him and he shines the lamp on the camp fam, yaz actually takes up a fighting stance. she doesnt talk at all during the scene, or even take any cake. the closest we get to her and eddie talking is when she says “ow,” when she trips on bumpy while chasing him. ok, how about mitch, tiff, and hap? asks 1 question (“did you get stuck out here too?”) in the whole getting to camp part. ehh ok, but lets look beyond that, we are with them for several episodes after all. lets talk the breakfast scene. we get a whole other comment (“so many attacks,”) and its just in response to darius. ok, maybe the writers just didnt know what to really do with her. lets talk the scene where brooklynn sees hap being suspicious while everyone does something else. whats yaz doing? just chilling with sammy. not talking, even tho tiff is right there. ok i think my point here has been made lets skip to when we see mae for the first time, bc dr. wu isnt a really a stranger to her. on the journey over to her cave, we set a record for amount of lines yaz has in a persons intro scene: 3! yay! and then an additional one in the cave. wooo! the six months on a dinosaur infested island w/ only 5 other people helped her social skills. they arent perfect, but theyre definitely better, and she still sticks to her quieter tendencies.

yaz’s handling of (possible) abandonment by friends is um. something. i only have two examples though. firstly, lets talk about s3 and what makes yaz realize she could be abandoned after leaving the island. the scene with ben. “after we go home, its not like any of us will ever see each other again.” “sure we will!” “doubt it. were spread all over the country. factor in time, money, life. you get the idea.” and as kenji tells him off, yaz hangs back with a pensive expression, as the storm gets ready to roll in. i love symbolism.

and so, we get into the real part id like to discuss. yaz’s conversation with sammy. in this we can see yaz’s doubts and fears come through as she tries to shut down their relationship, so that there is no pain of any abandonment or drifting apart, because if the bond was only made due to “running for [their] lives all the the time,” it wouldnt be something to be hurt over, right? and so, while she reinforces the fence around camp, she does the same for her heart. and sammy? sammy knows that this isnt really what either of them want, but shes not strong with her words. so what is there to really say, especially with someone who cant hear it right now.

but thats something that we see yaz initiate, thats on her own terms. how about something that is very much not on her terms, kenjis betrayal of the camp fam? how does yasmina, worlds normalest person about all things relationships react? she retroactively goes wow i should not have trusted him. as weve seen, this is pretty much par for the course, this distancing from people. but in this she also pushes down her own range of emotions, instead focusing about how she was stupid to have let this happen to her. like, shes the second last person to go when darius leaves to go try and figure out whats up with big and little eatie.

yaz also does not do good with trust being broken. at all. girl CRASHES a car because she had found out sammy lied about a PHONE. (to be fair the whole day had been extremely tough, there was a “monster dinosaur” out there that had tried to eat them twice) and then when sammy comes out with the fact that shes here entirely to spy, well, she cannot handle it. and so, she uses the same distancing tactics as before, unable to accept the hurt. she denies that it could have been real at all, and rescinds the special permission of being allowed to touch her. and this is our first glimpse (timeline wise) into how bad yazs issues with relationships are. and yet, theres still more for these guys! we also get a scene w/ them after yaz hurts her ankle. i cant talk for a lot of it bc its sort of just the same stuff lol, but we do get and explicit mention yaz had considered them as friends until this point (and she does go back to doing so). which is pretty realistic in a character whos clearly had some rough experiences with connection like yaz has.

yaz takes the want to be useful to the people to a higher level then most people would. this causes her to be a bit impulsive at times when trying to help, doing things that could hurt her as well as not really thinking things through. lets start with what yaz herself has to say on it, “i dont give up” “im the track star. the person my coaches, my team, everybody relies on. but now... but now im not. and if im not strong anymore... what good am i?” and this really goes to show how truly well she fits the team player role, she truly embodies it to an unhealthy degree. and she wants to be reliable, to her new team (the camp fam), and that want to prove herself to this team, and if she cant use two of her biggest skills, how is she supposed to do this? and i think this is where her impulsivity stems from, this want to help the team. and so this is where the scene with the mosasaurus comes in. in this scene we get to see this reliability savior thing shes got going on backfire on her, as while, yes, she saves sammy and darius, the mosasaur also goes straight for her.

yaz, i believe, shows two major outlets during the show, both of which she uses to connect with people; her art and exercising. soo, lets talk about her art first, and how she uses it. when yaz opens up to sammy for the first time, the way she does it is through showing and talking about her art, and we know its definitely something close to her heart through the way she absolutely deflates when she thinks sammy doesnt like them, and with the portrait of her mom we see in the nightmare sequence, it can be assumed that this is how yaz has been dealing with her homesickness. and when yaz realizes sammys having a hard time with the goodbyes n stuff she tries to help by giving her a drawing of all of them. and while this is a small detail, there is the scene where we get to see yaz draw for darius’ field guide, even taking criticism on the piece. not super huge, but as we know yaz can be pretty down on her own artistic abilities, so the moment is actually kinda big for her.

now, to touch on her exercising as an outlet. while we dont get to see it as much as her art, ironically enough. its probably because most of the running she does is for her life. firstly, id like to talk about the moment where she talks to darius about “sometimes [we] get so stuck in [our] head[s] that [we] cant see whats happening in front of [us],” so, to combat that, we have to do something to get out of our head, something fun. for yaz, thats exercising, as she tells darius. for darius, thats learning new dinosaur facts. (as he puts it, “very different definitions of fun,”). and, hey, maybe it isnt her thing, but hes the one this is for, so she can put it aside her own feelings on it and most of her snark (most of).

lets talk about when we can see this actually happening in season 5. now, this is where i, yes, get to talk about yaz’s crush on sammy. round of applause. when we first get to hear about her crush, yaz doesnt want to act on it at all. now, we dont get it explicitly, but based on what ive talked about, id imagine she is still afraid of changes in her relationships, especially with territory as uncharted as a relationship, let alone one with another girl. but when she takes her own advice, gets out of her head, and really lets her think, because, yea, change could be scary, but if she had let that fear overpower her in the beginning, she wouldnt have this now. (something something “its not finding your perfect half. its the trying and reaching and failing. love is being willing to ruin your good painting for the chance at a great one. is this really the boldest stroke you can make?”) and so she is willing to share her feelings, even if sammy doesnt feel the same. and in both cases it does work out! yazs advice helps darius find the beacon, and her decision to tell sammy about her feelings actual has them ending up together.

but i agree. i was never really into Strange until this movie. i mean i love his design and ive drawn him many times before but idk he just didnt speak to me before now.

i have the filthiest shit to write and draw i am so vile and feral because of it but so is he. they knew exactly what they were doing when then designed him omfg. i have a HC that he’s really into bondage (including self bondage) and its killing me. its killing me that i cant write it all rn.

you did not ask for this, so i apologize in advance. but ive had this little thing rolling in my head so -

Sinister seems like he used to be a professor and its driving me crazy thinking about him in a AU being the low toned sort of teacher who everyone respects. never raises his voice (and doesnt have to) to get his pupils to behave because he’s also silently terrifying. you can hear a pin drop in his class, even when its a study period and he’s sipping his coffee and reading a book. could probably make a student cry without even trying, without even looking at them (tho he will glance to see the tears) and would secretly enjoy it because he’s a bloody bastard. takes no shit and is clearly passionate about teaching and I just wanna see him in glasses and at a desk fiddling with papers? like look-

In this Professor Sinister! AU id say he definitely smells like dark roast coffee and old books. wears a sort of musky, old timey smelling cologne with spicy citrus notes. keeps to himself, doesn’t really interact with the other professors, but may strike up a short conversation with maintenance or the cleaning staff in the evening. even though he’s a strict man he sports a more casual appearance than one would think. im thinking just regular slacks n shoes, rolled up sleeves to his forearms, usually wears a black turtleneck or dark button down shirt with a few too many buttons open if the AC is busted (again), thick salt and pepper hair slightly tussled as its been run through by his fingers because these fucking kids can’t even double space their essays how did they pass high-school.

crystal eyes lingering a bit too long on an unsuspecting pupil who is always well behaved and attentive. openly teases them to the point of hot embarrassment when they ask to be excused to the restroom, even though they asked so nicely and they really have to go. but ,” ah, ah, not until i say so.” “you know you just went 10 minutes ago” “you took too long last time”

purposefully writes comments on their papers ‘see me after class’, even if its the most well-written dissertation he’s read all year. he’s rather knowledgeable and will always find something to offer correction on. as ‘punishment’, he tells them to help him prepare for the next class by writing what he tells them on the chalkboard. this is when his usual low key tone, shifts to something else.

The professor not so subtly stares at them, scrutinizing their handwriting and how their dainty wrists move under his command. no, Professor Strange definitely does not get off to how they struggle when he asks them to write higher, up on their tip toes and a bit wobbly. he’ll make them erase a whole line if they make a single mistake in their penmanship (which is easy because of how tired and cramped they are getting). he’ll cruelly mock them, “are you getting distracted?” “we can try something easier if this is too hard for you” “why are you stopping, you’re not finished yet” “i mean, Jesus, it looks awful. but i guess if that’s the best you can do-“

and if he’s feeling particularly snippy he’ll snap a ruler on his desk to startle them, possibly messing them up further, barely bothering to stop the smile dancing on his lips. he still throws in a smart ‘thank you’ when theyre done that definitely doesn’t make up for his brash behavior. its hard to tell if his harsh interactions are serious or a ploy of flirtation, but its intense enough to get under the skin every time that they are completely flustered when they gather their things to leave his room.

its wrong to be tormenting his own innocent pupil like this- many would say the poor thing doesn’t deserve it and the professor's intentions aren’t noble. but its not wrong if they keep coming back, right? not that he gives a damn, nor gives them much of a choice; he’s not exactly a model on morality. besides, a man can have a little fun, no?

i just- love him. i love him i love him

as soon as i saw him i knew it was curtains for me. he is utter perfection because sinister is just so fucking broken and deliciously unhinged and loosely disguised as a quiet gentleman. i love the fact he’s self aware enough to know he’s a filthy bastard but he just. doesnt. care. and like great! neither do i sweetheart. id beg this man to break me, and like please sir call me all the names.

she doesn’t like candy that much, she would prefer something salty than something sweet

she sometimes is clueless, like if someone tries to make a joke she will ask questions and say "i don't get it" until everyone just gives up on explaining

Season 2 of BNHA! This one is gonna be long cuz of the sports fest. arc and the stain arc, so most likely gonna cut this in half lol

My review of Season 2 part 1:

Ok but why tf did nezu let aizawa still teach when he is recovering?? like the guy is covered in bandages for fuck sake

I was a little surprised by shinsou's voice, i don't remember it being that.. deep? mature? idk what the word is, but it doesnt sound like a teenager (watching the dub btw) tho i start to get used to it again

I couldn't help but think the whole proclaiming rivalry against deku was funny, like idk why, but i thought it was ridiculous

The animation during the racing part was just amazing, specifically the part where shoto freezes the zero-pointer. Like, god damn they know how to animate ice. On the subject of the race, i would like to give props to deku's whole plan, cuz damn his plan was pretty smart

I'm kind of surprised that momo just let mineta hang onto her like that during the race, if i was her i would've dropped kicked him instantly, zero hesitation

The cavalry battle was fun to watch, and where class 1b gets introduced in the series! Monoma such a smart lil shit and i love him for it; bakugo need a chill pill dear god, tho it was funny with him hitting kirishima's head lol. Hatsume also gets spot light too and i love her chaotic energy, also the beginning of Uraraka's jealousy.

I am a bit confused as to how shinsou even won? like his quirk requires the target to respond back to him, so did tetsutetsu's team all just replied back and get mindcontroled? i mean ok ig

When todoroki pulled deku aside and basically trauma dumped on him, i did not expect bakugo to have overheard that convo, like i did not remember him eavesdropping before, but tbf it was a short clip of him so it was easy to forget

"Are you All Might's secret love child or something?" gets me every fucking time🤣

The fact ojiro withdrew when he felt like he didnt deserve to go into the finals was just, hhhhh hun no you deserve it, but honestly that was very (as kirishima said) manly of him to do. And kendo offering tetsutetsu's team to go into the finals was just, respect. This is why she's class rep.

Kendo grabbing monoma for the 'perverse person' in the scavenger hunt was just- LMAO😂

"-or tried to hype themselves up" then shows bakugo just face to face with a wall and shoto in a dark corner crouching, are you sure this is hyping themselves up? it looks more like brooding lol

Now the real fun of the sports festival begins

Deku vs shinsou. Ojiro literally told him not to respond to anything shinsou says, but yet he still fell for it, cmon dude. The past users of one for all were like "eyo no, you are not losing to this weak ass man." I do feel bad for shinsou, like dude deserves to be a hero, i hope he gets in class 1a, or at least 1b. The two boys could get a long a bunch, i mean, deku doesn't mind talking to him even after being mindcontroled. Tho it is funny that shinsou just kept mindcontrolling him everytime he responded, but at the same time pls stop doing that, he's just trying to have a conversation

Shoto vs sero. Okay, the speed sero was able to tape shoto and swing him almost out of the ring was impressive, but of course, its no match for shoto. Tho his attack was a bit overkill. The crowd screaming out 'nice try' for sero was nice of them tho

Denki vs shiozaki. Her speech in the beginning was mildly funny. Denki just thinking that she's cute and asking her on a date... not really the time for that, but he got his priorities straight, i guess. Tho really, shiozaki should be in class 1a with how powerful her quirk is, but then again it would be hell to draw her hair

Kendo karate chopping monoma to unconsciousness will always be funny

Iida vs hatsume. I don't actually remember what happened in this fight the 1st time i watched it, so this is gonna be fresh to me. Honestly, the whole round was hilarious, it was just a straight up ad for her support gear. Poor iida, he just wanted a fair fight

Now, speed round! Aoyama vs mina. Not much to say here, just mina showing off her dance moves and finishing the battle. Poor aoyama, humiliating way to go // Tokoyami vs momo. That was actually pretty fast dang, momo was recommended yet tokoyami still beat her. Shows how powerful dark shadow is // Kirishima vs tetsutetsu. Like looking into a mirror, of course it ends with a draw, the two are really hard bros

"..bakugo wouldn't use the full power of his explosions on a girl, right?" "yeah, he would" well, at least deku was honest about it😅

Bakugo vs uraraka. Oh boy, this fight. Gotta commend uraraka's determination, she planned out a good strategy; using her jacket as a decoy in the smoke, taking all those hits to create her finishing move. But bakugo is merciless, he was going to win no matter what. Even if she got him floating, bakugo could've just used his explosions to propel himself around. Uraraka put up a good fight, she was just paired up to someone who can put up a better one. Tho at least bakugo saw her as an equal, with him not going easy on her; cuz she isn't some weak little girl, she's a hero in training giving her all and should be taken seriously.

Now, for some light heartedness; Kirishima vs tetsutetsu, electric boogaloo. Such manliness, such raw chivalry. Two bros, having an arm wrestling match, 1 feet apart cuz they're just bros

The talk between the urarakas was sweet, she definitely needed to hear that from her dad. Speaking of dads, deku standing up to endeavor for shoto there was just amazing, someone had to tell that asshole

Now, the main event; Deku vs shoto. This whole fight is just deku being shoto's therapist, except with violence. Starting off with lovely ice animations, then bloody broken bones! Seriously tho, how tf does deku still push thru with dat much pain?? like boy is 15 and he's barely used his quirk. On the sidelines, bakugo thinking like a nerd as he watches. He may be an angy boi, but he is a smart angy boi. Now the ✨traumatic backstory✨ seriously tho, can't wait to see endeavor get his ass thoroughly kicked. Baby shoto is utterly adorable tho, must protect mah bby boy. Look wat you did endeavor, you fucked up a perfectly good child, look at him he has anxiety. "IT'S YOUR QUIRK NOT HIS" gets me every time. And then, FIRREEEE🔥🔥 and a SWOOSH and a BANG and- you get my point. That whole part was animated amazingly; deku rocketing across the ice, shoto using both sides at the same time to make such an epic explosion, the ice and fire. The pro heroes' reaction to the blast were kind of funny lol. And then it ends with shoto being half shirtless, they had to do it huh. Not complaining tho >.>

It was kinda funny when tetsutetsu was cheering kiri on, such a bro. The small bit of deku and iida talking about tensei and how iida was excited to talk to him later, just, oof. Bakugo being all smort n just going ballistic on kiri, if kiri had gotten enough good hits on baku he probs could win, but this is bakugo, so doubt. He did good tho!

Now, on to the semi finals!

Iida vs shoto. I should be focused on the fight, but damn why is shoto so frickin pretty here?? Ahem, i digressed. That kick to the back tho, like with how fast iida was going wouldn't that have broken his spine? then again this is anime. Can't believe for someone smart like iida, he forgot that shoto could freeze shit in close range, like boi it was pretty obvious

Bakugo vs tokoyami. I got a new ruojue thought for you. Human wrh is a very stressed man, running a kingdom is no easy job, so he sneaks away to have some peace, walks on the beach are always nice (i know there is no big body water in qishan, but indulge me!), he is having a nice time, there is quiet and peace and no nagging people. So when he sees something out of place among the nicely piled rocks he goes to investigate. Such an interesting surprise he finds! A mermaid (merman? How is male mermaild called?!), mermaids are dangerous of course, better be wary and this one is particulary big. He is wounded, doesnt looks good. With a thoughtful hum wrh decides to help the mermaid in a whim. Cue a very confused and wary nmj waking up in a bathtub and a complicated romance plot i have no brain to plot.

A new and perfect ruojue thought, I love it!! Nie MingJue waking up in a bathtub is fantastic (poor man is like, "...This isn't the ocean and why am I not in the ocean??") If Wen RuoHan can provide a bathtub big enough for him, they'd be off to a great start. And oh, the places we can go on that complicated romance plot!

Although I couldn't help playing around a bit with how it all begins~

Wen royalty from the Qishan Kingdom are known for defeating great beasts and monsters. The Qiongqi, the Waterborne Abyss, and the Tortoise of Slaughter all written in the records to having been felled by Wen hands. And the kingdom grows once these obstacles are overcome and peace is allowed to reign. For the first time, the Qishan Kingdom touches the sea under Wen RuoHan's rule (because plot point and we say so lol)

So Wen RuoHan is scouting this new land in the deserted Kingdom of Qinghe. The people had vanished centuries ago with legend saying they were eaten up by the sea. He breaks away from his entourage during a rest period (someone is causing problems ever 2 minutes and he needs a rest away from them) to ride along the sandy beaches with the softly rolling waves. He eventually comes upon a tall, long defense wall that boarders the sea and seems to go on for miles ahead. At the end of the wall in front of him is a watchtower--too short to be a lighthouse although it does face out towards the sea.

And just as he's recalling of the beasts that live beneath those deceptively calm waves, his eyes come upon one of those sea creatures, lying on the rocks that prevented it from climbing all the way to shore.

It's a merman! (And it's mermaid for female, merman for male!)

Merfolk are dangerous creatures, it's true! And Wen RuoHan is not so foolish to approach it unprepared and undefended. The merman is large and most of his tail, green and long with billowing fins, still float in the water beating against the rocks. That can't be comfortable, but since when did Wen RuoHan care about the comfort of beasts?

This one, however, looks like a man, but so have some of the others...

Wen RuoHan dismounts and moves in for a closer look.

There is no point in fighting the merman if he's already half dead. Mercy killing is an option, but the merman doesn't look far gone enough for that despite the blood and bruises, as if his blood had burst in the veins all over beneath his skin. (Qi deviation??) The bare skin not covered in scales has already turned a lobster red beneath the high sun. The sun might kill and cook the merman if Wen RuoHan doesn't draw his sword and do it first.

But if Wen RuoHan is not so cruel as to kill him himself, he could hardly be so cruel to leave him here to die...

Plus it has a handsome face, for starters. The merman doesn't move as Wen RuoHan lightly sweeps the hair from his face with its burnt cheeks and dry and cracked lips. Judging by the muscled, man-like torso and arms, the merman would be a fierce foe as just a man on two legs, and now doubly so as a sea creature with sharp claws.

Do mermen know how to talk? What would his voice sound like?

Humming thoughtfully, Wen RuoHan pulls the merman off the rocks. It's twenty miles to the encampment, but only four miles to the town with an inn. If the merman can survive the journey under the sun, the finest Wen doctors will take care of the rest.

Nonetheless, Wen RuoHan takes off his cloak and wraps it around the merman, giving him much needed shade beneath the embroidered sun and flames.

that look tho lmao undertakers like "pAtHeTiC" jokes aside idk if its just me but that gaze seems kinda important? idk if i'm making sense but it seems hes giving a significant look at polaris, like he's annoyed or perplexed about something. plus yana doesnt draw ut's eyes so often, even tho we already saw his face, and that makes me think the panel is somewhat relevant

As I said, I love this page so much, I’m legit going to keep that panel of Undertaker as my display picture until his past gets revealed! or maybe an hd picture of him with glasses comes out, whichever first lol

He’s not looking at Polaris there, he’s waiting for real Ciel to finish his transfusion and he’s in a very pensive mode. As @abybweisse (sorry for the mention again xD) was saying earlier as well, Undertaker here must have a million thoughts raging through his mind.

I think we can talk more about this later, when the translation will be out, but surely things are not going all that well for them. First they lost the Sphere hall and all the precious blood they could take from the people there, then they had to kill all the lords at bath (who were surely bringing in good money!) and now they lost what I’m assuming to be another one of their largest blood collection locations as well (if not the biggest one yet). I’m not sure if here Undertaker already knew about this last event or he found out from Polaris, the chapter will tell. But if he already knew, then surely, surely that look is very meaningful.

On top of all of this, real Ciel is getting all excited about what his brother is doing. And Polaris is a mess. And, remember that Undertaker also has to please some other, more important people with his experiments to be able to keep doing them! Things are really not that easy for him, no matter how much he jokes about them. So yeah, I’m pretty sure there’s a million thoughts going through his mind there.

Last but not least, we have another very important panel of Undertaker in this chapter, specifically this. This!

That’s his reaction to something very important Polaris said. Oh dear, I already have theories typed out on it, I’m just impatiently waiting for the chapter to be released~~

So yeah, I agree with you. We finally got some more serious-looking Undertaker in this chapter, and I really think some of the looks he gives here are actually important clues for some theories. I can’t wait to discuss more about them!

Ok so, in Brazilian folclore there is a characther named "Mula sem Cabeça" or, in english, "headless mule".

The legend is has many versions, but the more popular ones are that "if a woman sleep with her boyfriend before marriage, she could be cursed and become a headless mule" and the other one is "if a woman had any type of romantic relationship with a priest, would be punished and be turned into a headless mule", so, with my pea brain i had an Au! Idea.

On the place of the head of the mule, there is a big fire who burns whatever is on its ways, plants, animals, people, etc.

Also, the transformation(ehen the person becomes a headless mule) only happends on Thursdays nights, and the person would come back to normal at the third cock crow, they would usually be exausted and bruised

So, on this Au the reader is kind of a body guard to the village's priest(Eli), he is always walking near Eli and sometimes he guards the doors of the church where Eli works.

The reason why he protects the church where Eli works is because his Mother used to be Eli's lover, but they "broke up" after Eli started found Gertrude, seeing that, if his Mother wasn't "cured" from the curse by Eli she would become a headless mule, the reader runned to Eli and begged for him to reverse the curse, sadly Eli couldn't do much abouit it, because, if Eli had been seen with his lover, he could probably lose his job or worst.

(In Colonial Brazil it was very common for priests to have lovers, thought it was very shit talked, this didin’t stop a lot of priests or religious figure to have romatic/sexual realtionships)

So in a act of despair, to try and take away the curse from his Mother, the reader went to talk to the most powerful witch that everybody feared, Cuca(Luchino)

Cuca is one of the most important characters on the Brazilian folclore, she ismostly portrayed as a old woman or witch with a alligator head(yep, you readed that right), anyways, she is also know for creating extremely powerful curses and potion(showed mostly on cartoons) and for kidnaping children

Anyways, the reader goes to Luchino and begs for a way to elimanate his mother's curse, Luchino sees this as a opportunity and tells the raeder that he can fix his mother's problem, but(there is always a but), the reader will be the one caring the curse from now on

Reader accepts the offer and implores that Luchino would take away his Mother's curse, which Luchino does, and transfers the curse to the reader

That same evening(Thursday) he goes back to Eli and tells him that, if he doesn't take away the curse from his Mother, the reader will destroy the Village and hunt him down, Eli doesnt believe him at first thinking that the reader only wants scare him, thought, by the time that night comes, Eli sees that the reader was not joking

Since a great part of the Village was near a forest, it was easy for the fire that covered the poor trees to spread to the houses that were to near the wild life

The people were running around and asking for help, saying that a fire was spreading around extremely fast, and with the help of some of the Village citizens, they had seen what looked like a person, no a man without his head, with a big flame where his head should be

While the people where trying to put away the fire, Eli noticed in what mess he got himself into, while Luchino watched from afar the destruction that the victim of his curse had done, wich he was very proud of.

NOTES:

1-The only way of ending the headless mule curse is by the priest cursing his lover seven times before the

mass in the church happened. Or by pulling the mule's bridles or sticking it(the mule) with some sharp object in order to draw blood from it, even if it was just a drop.

2-After that acident, Eli makes a deal with the reader, Eli would bless one person of his Village every Thursday night in order that the reader didin’t hirt anybody

3-When Eli blessed the last person of his Village, he would take away the curse from him and his Mother

4-Luchino may or may not try to sabotage Eli plans by attacking the person that he would bless that night by attacking them or stealing their children.

5-Since the curse only worked on woman, instead of becoming a mule, the reader continues with his body, but he loses his head and also the control that he has over his body

6-It is very hard to capture the headless mule, since they are very fast and their fire can spread very easily

Kevin will take the role of the Pink Boto/Boto cor de rosa, the Pink Boto can transform into a attractive man every night, he ussualy sleeps with a woman, gets her pregnant and then goes away(This levend was used to justify why some kids didint know their father) in some medias the Pink Boto doesn't only sleep with woman, sometimes(acording to some medias) he is also sleepung with men, or anyone really (There is also a sangue that some brazilians use that goes like "caiu na rede é peixe"- If it fell on the net its fish, which is like..."if it has a hole you can fuck it"....yeah

I can also see Bane getting a role that looks like the Curupira, the Curupira is the protector of the Brazilian Fauna

idk why but i feel like jk, joon and hoseok are similar when it comes to their feelings/emotions.. dont get me wrong, they are very affectionate, physically and vocally.. but all three live inside their heads for too long..

okay !! first ., jeongguk has a lot going on the inside ., but when it gets down to it - he’s a really great guy . like his bedroom habits aside . he’s always honest nd clear abt what he’s looking for . he plays around ., but not in the ‘ruin my life’ type of way . his friends always come first to him . there aren’t any times where he has left them hanging nd them being happy correlates to him being happy . same when it comes to arya . his feelings for her are strong nd once he noticed that ., he set boundaries for himself bc of joon . he never crosses them . the only thing he wants for her is to be happy .

it’s a mixture of both really . he’s not miserable . he enjoys having a line of girls nd meeting new people nd doing his thing . he’s young nd thats how he has his fun . buut if the right girl were to come around - he would not be against settling down nd being in a serious relationship with her . buut the right girl for him right now is already the right girl for someone else - who happens to be his best friend ., so there’s really nothing else he can do . so he buckles down into his hoe life .

the main thing that jeongguk keeps to himself is his true feelings . like on the surface he’s this cool guy that doesn’t care nd has girls knocking down his door nd he’s just out there enjoying himself - not getting attached . nd he’s so into that lifestyle nd focused on making sure that’s who he is perceived as that he ignores everything else that doesn’t fit . not to say he’s not himself ,. jeongguk is himself all the time - his feelings just tend to take a backseat (especially the ones he has for arya bc of how much damage it could do) . // joon definitely wants arya to know what bothers him without properly communicating anything . that comes from the fact that they’ve been together for ten months so he expects her to just know what will make him mad . nd when she doesn’t get it he gets pissy . his biggest issue is that he’s in his head too much . he’s freaking while realizing that he’s falling in love with her nd that he doesn’t really like being away from her (he’s also extremely dramatic ., it’s not as co-dependent as he thinks) but bc in he’s confused himself when it comes to his feelings for her - he’s more inclined to just shut down nd figure things out on his own . buut that’s not going to fly when it comes to yn ., she’s not the type to take the no communication nd wait around for him to get his life together . even if he doesn’t know what he’s trying to figure out - she’d want that to be told to her so she doesn’t overthink .

- their smut scene was a little quickie upstairs since they were in yoongi’s room nd the party was going on downstairs still . but hoseok was so deep in his thoughts that it made it seem faster ., he was so overwhelmed with his feelings that being wth yn was like at the back of his mind... -His shirt swings sways and rises as he bends and straightens out, his muscles tighten everytime he reaches while his thighs thicken with every squat

-“Baby im really not seeing it-” he begins before catching you in the middle of your daze. Your eyes are fixed on him but not his face, nor the so-called spider he was looking for

“You think you’re funny” he replies with a smile as he makes his way to the bed crawling on from the foot

-You playfully tease and squeeze his face, admiring his obedience

-He cups his hand over yours, eyes dazzling over a tinge of pink as you two share this loving and intimate moment. You poke a few silly kissy faces making him laugh, inching closer to close the gap. Your smiling faces press against each other, happiness is all you are with him.

-“Nothings wrong ! You were just enjoying them so well i wanted my own” you lie. He’s cute, but he’s no fool. His eyes pour into you, somehow letting you know he’s not biting that foney excuse. He smiles to himself although a lightbulb went off that only shined on him.

-“Of course not chip princess! Whats mine-” he begins placing a puff in his mouth

-“Is yours”. He closes his eyes and leans across the table, his lips wet and pink around the pale colored puff are inviting. His eyelashes cast a soft shadow on his cheeks , which seem to always have the slightest ting of pink when infront of you. His blonde locks shine like diamonds in the corner of the dimely-lit restaurant , you swear there are no circumstances that could make this man anything but beautiful.

-His eyes open, wet and dark as he pleads silently for you to finish the minastration. He knows how to charm you , and his cute ass is making it work, but not this time.

-You lean over the table taking the puff from his mouth, swiflty replacing it with a bold, blunt, but gentle kiss.

-A faint noise escapes his mouth at the sudden gesture, his now wide eyes find yours only inches away. The tips of his ears blush red before he pulls away.

“You’re bold miss chips ! If you thought i tasted better, why didn’t you just say so?”

im gonna talk about some doomvega stuff idk where else to post it

slayer hc

I like selective mute slayer the most... nonverbal communication most of the time, his body language/expression vega gradually eases into learning, then for longform communication its typing into vega’s console, morse code into vega’s palm (<3) or sign language. the few times he speaks is very curt and short, maybe just quick affirmation from vega for whatever (kisses <3) and the gayest reason of all... so he can say vega’s name tenderly

lots of hobbies, which is more or less canon, but it's cute to think about... particularly his cooking magazines make me think he would be a good cook in a umm domestic au... but I like that he enjoys many creative things also like reading/writing/music, in addition to a scientific/engineering bg, hes kind of like... full package husband material

I dont have a ton of slayer hcs... I think hes mostly introverted, more into his hobbies, cultured... I think my only self-indulgent not canon compliant hc is he gets embarrassed easy and pretty expressive but has rbf. hes like the shy boyfriend in the “excuse me he said no pickle” meme with vega

vega hc

vega for drawing purposes I like to make an android, tho in a fic im more inclined to regular AI vega especially in character studies and introspective writing... there's something a lot more poignant about vega reminiscing about almost being shut down while not assuming any kind of physical form... idk im just talking about what I like on a scale bc I love tons of vega interpretation

android vega: I like to imagine an android body was created for vega per samuel’s instruction a little bit after vega became operational... kind of like a flex to match with uac creating the first cyborg body as well. since samuel is a bit of a dick to his dad he doesnt make him w maykr proportions in mind and instead vega is given a very average human male body: about six feet tall, gentle (fatherly -_-) disposition, dark hair and brown skin, unnatural blue eyes... I think this would be good for vega to “blend” into the personnel, build camaraderie w him, though I think samuel would pull the plug on it in the long run for reasons my brain can’t put together atm lol. this kind of self-indulgent but I like vega’s “virtual age” being 50 bc he’s samuel’s dad, and I like vega w a completely average body but thin waist like a maykr... which is a subconscious decision by samuel bc hes more accustomed to makyr bodies... but I am also just a bastard that wants thin waist dilf vega

this is maybe a reach of the fortress’s resources but I think the slayer could manage to build the same body for vega he had on the base if vega gave him the materials and instructions for it... just like a project, nothing exactly urgent, vega’s body slowly being worked on until completion. but then... the slayer finds himself a bit attached because vega is like 100x more pleasant and soothing when he can see vega smiling at him. im corny

I also like vega being a bit catty and passive-aggressive, but in his customer service voice. he’s definitely not a doormat as an AI, and hes a lot more direct as umm god. god vega I like aesthetically (SO MUCH) but I think I will hold back on my interpretation till ancient gods. even his visual design I know will be probably significantly different from that 6-wing maykr angel concept art (if hes shown at all) but I like the aesthetic of it and will probably keep that if no canon physical body for vega is shown...

doomvega hc

very slow burn... mostly on vega’s part, but I like the almost innate way the slayer is more friendly/gentle with vega and his upgrade bots, so I think the slayer is sweet on vega

vega wondering about why the slayer chose to back him up is always a fave... and ik its not the exact reason for why dg is back in urdak but I like thinking about him going back for vega or at least I hope they make it a point in the dlc that dg is looking for vega amidst all the chaos... it would really cement their relationship together and would be so good for vega as not being seen as a tool to be thrown away (god stuff aside). like he’s the slayer’s partner and not just an assistant or something like that

its canon that the slayer has ptsd so I think vega (in an android/robot body) can help him through episodes/nightmares... and this is pretty corny and self-indulgent but I think vega’s touch calms him bc of like... god reasons... and vega is not really sure why it feels so right to hold the slayer and comfort him but its god reasons

slayer also likes to hold android vega and his arms wrap around him easy, and vega is flush against his chest (<3) I like to imagine this after some kind of... very heartfelt “thank you” or confession from vega. I also really like the idea of vega confessing his feelings first I think because he would have to also deal with thinking his “feelings” are real or not since he’s AI and not human and all of those schlocky sci-fi romance tropes

then theres the slayer x father vega dynamic im speculating a little about but want to wait till ancient gods to see... it seems like the slayer is vega’s right hand this time which is so exciting for them... it adds so much more versatility to their dynamic

Dude when she cursed at the chat after she cursed at one person i was like 🤦🏼. I just knew it was going to blow up, and the mods were divided between telling her to chill and defending her before they put it on emote only. She's a public figure technically, and yeah it sucks to see people coming at you but its way worse to react that way you know because even if they are not fans, they still know who she is and its not a good look. Imagine if JC went on her stream and got mad and went off, her chat would react the same. People kept commenting how much they loved Franny and Nezzas facial expressions because you could tell they were over it & JC laughed and said he noticed that and loved Frannys expressions. A simple trivia stream or a cooking stream would be good for Tara but this.... to literally stall, change the rules,curse, and complain is not a good look. If it wasnt the 'Im a vegetarian' comment she said "Im going to throw up", "I need my inhaler", "I have dinner with Jake after i cant drink" like girl theres saying "I cant handle this challenge please let me do something else" & saying she's up for anything but when it comes to she complains and throws a fit. Thing is Jazmin also annoyed people because she kept trying to negotiate but she also did the challenges like ate wet dog food, and let JC draw on her with a sharpie eventhough she had a date right after..

Me too, i expect this from her, she's done so many lives and said stuff thats made me side eye her like the sugar surgery stream, her comments on how it was okay to party on and off during the pandemic, and JCs streams to where im like 1000% positive if i were ever to meet her i would not mesh well with her energy. I cant handle people like that. Plus JC is literally a very nice guy and even if he kids a lot and takes that type of treatment doesnt mean he deserves it.

i know these aren't all the same ppl, but i figured since you all were talking about tara, i'd put them all together :)

1st ask: yeah, i don't exactly love the fact that she cursed at his chat, regardless of what they were saying back to her (as long as they weren't being threatening towards her, which i don't think they were). not to mention this is someone else's fanbase; don't be mean to them bc you feel like they don't like you for not playing the game that you said you would play.

and yeah those suggestions for streams would be good with tara.

and no offense to jc, but like... this whole stream doesn't sound fun the way you guys are talking about it haha (i mean, i figure it probs was to some degree). but i get complaining about the challenges bc they are weird or hard. but there does come a point when you gotta shit or get off the pot, you know?

i know we've talked about the sugar stream before. i don't think anything was wrong with that stream, and i don't really wanna talk about it since it's an old discussion. but i get not liking tara for whatever reason.

i do wanna say tho, that is jc allows her to treat him like that, that's his own prerogative, and if he can't stand up to her, that's his own shit to deal with. not for us to assume.

2nd ask: i think she does well on her own lives bc it's her fanbase and she knows how to interact with them. i also think with her own fanbase, she knows the demo is relatively young. so cursing or being vulgar probs isn't the way to go. vs jc's fanbase, who are more young adult-ish, it's easier for her to let loose and curse and be an adult, which she is lol

and i get the spit takes and whatnot. i think she was probs just being a bit dramatic bc she was uncomfortable.

3rd ask: i obviously don't know how she brought up her severe asthma and whatnot, so i can't really comment on it. obviously, you can be upset since you have it if you think she's lying or up-playing the asthma she has. maybe she meant that she didn't bring her inhaler with her in front of the stream bc it was in her bag somewhere else in the house? again, not sure of the context in which she said it. but maybe that's what she meant.

and i still feel like, the way you guys are describing it, she should have just been there for moral support. but maybe she assumed jc would tone down the challenges or make them super easy. idk of course.

i also feel like, in general, that maybe tara acted the way she did bc she wasn't in a good mood, for whatever reason. that doesn't give her the right to curse and yell at jc's stream, but it might explain her actions a bit better to know that maybe she wasn't really in the best headspace.

aah i agree im vry disappointed in this chapter ! like its good like usual, but its kind of a let down after the last 5 chapters... ht rly exposed himself minutes before, and comedy aside, MGS answered him by ignoring him, and then saying "were not friends, were not as close as you think we are". it must have been hurtful for HT, its basically a rejection of recognizing HT vulnerabilities. and its totally In character for MGS to say this, so im not disappointed by it 1/?

i mean HT lay his heart down for Mo to see and theyve known each other for 15 DAYS, its too soon for anybody and especially for Mo who have mistrust problems to respond in the same way ? so running away and deflecting the declaration is cool, i wasnt excepting a "ill never abandon u!!" lol. but then HT being cool with this rejection and having a slapstick comedy just after doesnt feel right. mb show HT swallowing and being disheartened, and then put his usual facade and only then have comedy 2/?

would have been good, bc we would have known "oh ht is actually hurt by MGS reaction but doesnt know how to say it, so he plays it cool and change the subject bc hes still not at ease with being vulnerable". a realistic situation would have been "ht tried to be vulnerable but it was too soon, too much for mo who rejected him, so it confirmed ht biased thinking that showing vulnerabilities is bad and it will prevent ht to be vulnerable in front of someone in the near future". 3/?

i mean it could have been a nice although sad conclusion for this mini-arc, especially since ht have been grieving (?) his mother just this morning. a little step back, and then smth else happen and cause ht to crack completely but then mo is able to respond present and its a step forward. ok im daydreaming but that would have been climatic lol. instead this..ah i dont know i feel cheated, i know its ox' work but still haha ! like when they do an abrupt change of scene after an emotional page 4/

its a trick ox use often and after 300 chapters it feels old n cheap. when u engage in a emotional scene, u cant just do "oops i change my mind!!" and put slapstick comedy or ignore totally what just happened and dont have a progression. u have to stay on this road : u cant put traumatizing backgrounds and mafia affairs and mature problems (kidnapping, mother being threatening into prostitution,etc) n just.. not stick with it and making ur characters not traumatized by it and just 'lol comedy'.

sry im kind of monopolizing ur askbox lol, i guess im kind of frustrated ! it just the last chapters were so good and it was a while since ox use this cheap trick of not going through an emotional scene that i kind of forgot how terrible they were at handling transition between drama and comedy. theyre a good artist all in all (or i wouldnt be this disappointed!!), but they have this failing in their writing an it drives me nuts each time lmao. haa i hope next chapter will be better...5/5

Hell yeah, DEFINITELY, that sums up my thoughts. Also, you don't have to apologize, it was an interesting read and I can tell that you feel strongly about it. While I can’t say that I’m flat-out disappointed, as I wrote in my original post, I’m definitely feeling lukewarm and indifferent about the recent ch.

OX touched upon a few serious matters a couple of chapters before: namely She Li’s fucked up goading and the way it unsettled He Tian -- unsettled in no joking manner as follows from his reaction. Then we get He Tian swearing to beat up anyone who dares bully Mo, and the whole profound monologue from the previous chapter. Just as you say, He Tian truly laid himself bare there. One could argue that He Tian listed the reasons he was enamoured with Mo, or one could argue that he subtly commented on the milieu he grew up in, or one can even read it as He Tian admitting/reflecting on his flaws out loud. There are many ways to construe this scene, each of them is extremely meaningful. Not to mention it took HT visible effort to say these things out loud.

The problem which both you and I noticed is that OX left this mini-arc/mini-subplot unresolved. Instead, they abruptly switched to comedic relief. Much like you, I wasn’t expecting a big reaction from Mo -- no grand verbal declarations at very least. What I expected was a panel (maybe a close up of Mo’s face as I mentioned in my original post) that indicated he actually HEARD what HT told him, that it gave Mo some food for thought.

As you mention, Mo getting disconcerted and doing the tsun-tsun escape is fairly in character for him. Still, a panel like this would have been very welcome to emphasize his confusion and to justify him not gracing the other boy with an answer, ignoring HT showing his underbelly (which is something that doesn't come easy for him, as we readers know). Okay, sure, OX handled it differently this chapter -- we get Mo silently running away and blurting out the first comeback he could think of. No problem. It works to show that HT’s words had an effect on him, albeit it’s much less pronounced, than, say, the Aquarium scene -- again one would have to wonder why: HT’s “don’t abandon me” is just as strong, if not stronger, than “I’m afraid you’ll forget me”, so it follows that Mo should have been just as affected.

The problem is the way an emotionally charged moment quickly fizzled out into comedy. As you said, Mo blurting out “we are not friends, we are not familiar enough, so I don’t care what you think (of me)!” SHOULD have hit HT harder. Just minutes before we had HT being genuinely disturbed by the idea of someone looking to intentionally hurt Mo, seeking physical comfort, being disquieted by the idea of getting abandoned and losing someone he likes, confessing that he admires the other boy -- yet when Mo utters yet another curt rejection of sorts, we are not shown HT’s reaction, which, logically, should have been there.

And all of that emotional build-up is cheapened by an accidental dick slap comedy.

Indeed, showing HT being hurt (disquieted? deflated?) and then putting on a cool guy mask, and ONLY then switching to a slapstick humour would have been more appropriate. It wouldn’t have taken a big or an overly dramatic scene either -- just, IDK, show HT’s eyes widening, or his throat clicking, or his posture slumping, anything to indicate that Mo’s words affected him -- that the whole thing mattered to him. Otherwise, it leaves a bad taste in one’s mouth: “so Imma confess to the person I like and swear to protect them and beg them to put up with me -- oh! forget anything serious that I said, Imma touch some dick now”. While I don't have an issue with comedy coming into focus again, I do wish it hadn't been this abrupt. Had there been a better transition between these scenes, there wouldn't be this "lol jk" vibe that I’m getting.

So yeah, I, too, feel a little cheated. OX certainly has an issue with drama-comedy transitions, which are sort of hit-and-miss for me. Sometimes they work well to alleviate the grave mood, other times they appear to be out of place. The recent chapter is the latter case. Dangling a possibility of climatic resolution for the subplot and then intentionally subverting it just doesn’t work in favour of the plot here. It cheapened the emotional part and made the comedy feel much less fun for me. Of course, no one says that writing is an easy task. Plenty of mangakas, for instance, work with writers to strengthen their script and plots, so it’s challenging when a single person is responsible for both drawing and planning the story. OX is undoubtedly doing a tremendous job. Still, I wish they wouldn’t stick to using the old trick this monastically because it's becoming a trite writing device and works against them on occasion. It’s totally fine to keep the comic light-hearted yet it’s not good to ignore the needed dramatic development.
