As we know black cats are an essential part of the spooky season as well as an essential part of everyday life! So in honor of that, I made a prompt list dedicated to one of my favorite black cats Salem Saberhagen, who in my opinion had some of the most iconic dialogue in TV history!

*runs up with microphone* "Mr Nocturne, what do you have to say about the rumours that the creator of Sabrina the Teenage Witch based the character of Salem Saberhagen off you?"

Actually, the concept of doing the Sabrina: the Teenage Witch television show was entirely stolen from Cassandra Peterson, creator and actress of Elvira, who pitched the concept starring her character, an aunt, and a niece, all of whom were witches trying to hide in modern society with a sassy black cat. The pilot is authentic, and an interim acting president at the network rejected it despite glowing internal reception because, and I quote, "We can't show tits like that on TV!" Cassandra Peterson's work was then used to justify a rework using the Archie Comics property, which was very similar in concept and could be repackaged as a much more family-friendly program. Therefore, even when we enjoy the adaptation of the Archie's comic, it wouldn't exist without the concept success test proven by Cassandra Peterson, which she has never received due credit for. (But let's face it, Nick Bakay as Salem Saberhagen is a much superior voice and characterization and ffffucking iconic.)

The best real cat is any cat I have ever owned.

Best comic strip cat is Heathcliff. See my icon and Heathcliff tag for his greatness.

Best comic book cat is Dex-starr. He is the best boy and the saddest and I want to cuddle him forever.

Best live action film cat is Keanu from Keanu. Goose does not qualify for this list, as Goose is not a cat.

Best animated film cat would be Scar if lions counted, but I don't think they do, so instead it's probably the Cheshire cat.

Best television cat is Salem Saberhagen of Sabrina the Teenage Witch, because snark.

Best anime cat is the one from Azumanga Daioh. Cat violence is always hilarious.
