Hansel Tigerloaf will have been with us for eight years tomorrow.

When he arrived, he was scared of everything (especially evil doorways), but now his latest favourite thing to do is grumble and moan when someone is existing in the vicinity and not paying an adequate amount of attention to him. If he's close enough, he'll also hit them. He's an absolute goblin.

He'll be twelve (allegedly) in May. I'll buy him a dog stroller...not because he can't walk, but he refuses to because he simply doesn't like the inconvenience and would rather be in his bed, eating snacks.

He will only have accidents on soft surfaces and will fly towards the rug to throw up because he doesn't like being sick on cold floors.

He bit (unsuccessfully, he's dentally challenged) Mickey one time for existing too closely to him, but to be fair, Mickey had sat on him earlier that day.

He can grip like a monkey, therefore he is able to climb things like wire fences, cupboards and trees. He doesn't do this now though because he can't be bothered, but he knows we know that he can.

His dearest wish is to steal the stuffed toy that is often left in the child next door's pram.

Flynn out for a snowy walk on Saturday... 2nd of March, 2nd day of meteorological spring but it seems the weather hasn't been informed about the change in seasons just yet! We had a day of snow, then sleet, then rain, more snow, then sleet & rain again!

I am so glad I got that jacket for Flynn to wear - & that he'll happily let me put it on him! Flynn definitely appreciates it. Last year, when we had a similar wet, heavy snow fall, I remember Flynn was really excited to go play in it but then very quickly turned into a sad, soggy, shivery puppy, who just wanted to go home & he was then achy & miserable with his arthritis for ages afterwards. The coat made such a difference yesterday - Flynn still got to have fun outside, but he stayed warm & dry-ish & didn't seem to feel too sore at all later on.

Happy 16th Birthday to Barney!! 

Yep, Halloween 2022 is Barney’s SIXTEENTH birthday!! He is a grand old man indeed. 

I really struggle to put into words what Barney means to me. He has been with me for my entire adult life - from when I was in my first year university. He is just there beside me, always, unfailingly. A happy, sweet-natured soul, full of joy... sensitive, loving & steadfastly loyal. I am forever thankful that Barney found his way to me when he did & that we have been lucky enough to share so many long years together since. What a wonderful dog. The Best Boy. Love you, Barney

Here’s one of the birthday boy, this afternoon. Look at that happy face! I think Barney’s had a nice day. We pottered into town in the morning, went to the nice little park, ate cake, then Barney decided he wanted to go up the road to the “sweetie shop” (fancy little pet shop!), so off we went. 

When the lady at the shop was told it was Barney’s 16th birthday, she kindly gave him some free treats before we left :) Haha, after chewing up a couple of tasty salmon sticks, Barney decided he’d quite like to stay in this shop all day, so he flopped on the floor, rolled on his back, & waved his paws in the air... it took me a little while to coax him up & out the door! We did finally make it home & after having a pic taken, he’s been happily snoozing until dinnertime (although honestly, Barney’s eaten so many snacks today he can hardly be hungry!).
