favourite adhd creators masterpost!
(especially for gender minorities, people of colour, and lgbtq+ community!) in no particular order:
adhdinos (ryan keats): just compassion and wholesome vibes.
the mini adhd coach by alice: incredible resource that highlights diverse experiences, presentations, and comorbidities of adhd outside the stereotypes.
adhd nutritionist (becca king): if you have trouble eating because of adhd, she’s going to save your life every day with compassionate advice that actually works.
how to adhd (jessica mccabe): her ted talk was one of the things that made me realise i may have adhd. her content covers a lot of breadth and is very resourceful.
adhd couple by ingri: the perfect resource when your partner (or friends!) also have adhd.
adhd superwoman (ingrid heyerdahl): more of the inspirational type, often featuring accounts of women with adhd.
izzie and adhd by izzie: incredible candid and heartwarming blog of her own experiences, with both celebratory and difficult moments.
authentically adhd by jak: here for the adhd positivity, staying for the gorgeous queer energy.
adhd alien (pina varnel): an incredible individual and artist who needs no introduction, they were the first adhd creator the majority of us stumbled across. <3
female adhd: great resource to learn about how adhd works in afab bodies, how symptoms interact with hormones, and the distinct impact of adhd on women's experiences in our society.
elyse myers: need i say more? her #theadhdway posts remind me of the untethered joy that can come with being neurodivergent. laughter is medicine and that’s what elyse is here to remind us.
this is a working list, so come back for more. <3 I am an instagram girlie so all of these link to instagram, but most (if not all!) of these creators are on twitter, tiktok, and tumblr (!!) as well! as someone with little to no access to mental health support for adhd, they have been imperative to my survival. I hope you find some comfort in them too!

Looking at some of my old posts and feeling sad about them. So glad I’m not depressed like I was. My life is so much better but at the same time it’s so much worse.

Tips for anxiety (that actually help)
Draw what you're feeling, it doesn't have to be good or even make sense. Just get it out of your system.
Get up and DO SOMETHING, and by something, I mean shake it out, run till you can't breathe, scream, flail your arms, headbang aggressively to the heaviest music you can find. Again, just get it all out. Raise your heart rate doing something healthy, rather than just sitting and panicking.
Tell someone about it, whether it is a stranger online or a good friend. Let someone else give you a more rational or humorous perspective on whatever you are facing. It's more cathartic than you think.

being mentally ill is so fucking fun because the people around me could be having a conversation about baseball or what they had for breakfast this morning and my brain will go “they’re talking about you, they’re judging you and they have every right to judge you.”

I wonder if people notice. If doctors, restaurant servers, pharmacists, uber drivers, delivery guys, receptionists, and other strangers I interact with notice how awkward I am. How childish, how shy, how scared, how anxious, like I'm barely a human being. When doctors see my age, and then they proceed to have a conversation with me for like 30 minutes, do they see how something's wrong with me? How I'm on the verge of having a breakdown from simply having to exist in society? I must look so pathetic in their eyes. I must seem like a child in an adult's body. It feels like I'm cosplaying someone of my age, and it's embarrassing. I try to hard to act normal, but the raw, unfiltered side of me... it shows.

I Hate facial expressions. I always thought confusion was 🤔but it turns out it can look like 😕😫😡😱
How am I supposed to know that's what that is? Normalize asking "what does that expression mean?"

Anxiety Brain Fog and Tips to Defeat it!
Hey-hi! I’m back again to chat about yet another aspect of anxiety!  Anxiety brain fog… Anxiety brain fog can happen when a person is feeling anxious and it causes difficulty thinking clearly/concentrating. It’s common to experience brain fog when dealing with stressful situations, or while an individual experiences high stress in general. So, why does anxiety cause brain fog? Well, it typically happens because anxiety takes up a lot of mental resources. This makes it so people need to use more energy while trying to focus on anything other than that anxiety, which is why it makes it so difficult to concentrate or think clearly.
Symptoms of anxiety brain fog include:
Fatigue
An inability to organize thoughts or activities performed
Feeling confused or “spaced out”
Being easily distracted
Forgetfulness, or a constant loss of your train of thought
Having difficulty finding the right words
Processing thoughts slower than usual
Forgetting about a task you need to complete
Needing more time to complete basic tasks
So basically, anxiety brain fog creates a forgetful mental state affected by your anxiety. The more anxious you get, the harder it becomes to focus. It usually happens when you go to do something that you know makes you anxious, and it makes preparing for that task much harder than it needs to be. There are other causes for anxiety brain fog, meaning things that can make it more likely to affect you. These are:
Neurological conditions, like head injuries or dementia.
Some chronic illnesses
Dehydration, hunger, or vitamin deficiencies
Drugs and alcohol
Certain medications, like chemotherapy or mood stabilizers.
So the gist of the situation is, if it isn’t anxiety induced then you should do your best to take good care of yourself and if that doesn’t help, seek out medical attention that could provide better answers for your condition. Now, since the brain fog is a symptom and not a medical diagnosis there is no treatment for it that I am aware of. Though, managing the anxiety or the conditions causing the brain fog may help. I’m no medical professional or therapist, but as a fellow struggler of anxious tendencies, I happen to have a few tips to help you along the way.
My tips: 1.  Make a checklist and actively run through it before heading out to ensure you don’t stray off track. 2. Try to prepare ahead of time, or leave the things you need near the door where you can see them. Sometimes visual cues can help to re-spark your memory and clear the fog enough to set you back on the right path. 3.  Work on methods to slow or calm your anxiety. Giving your brain less to focus on can help redirect your attention towards what you need, instead of what you’re afraid of or anxious about. The tips I mentioned above are my personal methods of clearing, or at the very least, working through my own anxiety brain fog. I hope this information helps you find your own path to victory VS the foggy brain feels <3 Unfortunately, that’s all I have for you today, but for those of you who have your own tips for working through anxiety brain fog, I’d love to hear about them and how they help you in the comments or tags! Sharing is caring!

This is Hitori Gotou (nicknamed bocchi) from Bocchi the rock!
Bocchi has social anxiety. She is often depicted with a stutter as well. While it is not canon, many people see her as having autism.
Negative stereotypes? None! many people resonate strongly with bocchi and feel that she is an excellent representation of social anxiety.
Authors note: Bocchi is often compared to komi from komi cant communicate but they have two completely different disorders. Please note that bocchi is specifically classified in canon as having social anxiety, while komi is specifically classified as having a communication disorder. While these two conditions do have many similarities, they are very different in both cause, treatment and symptoms.

I have absolutely no desire or motivation to move or do anything. I am stuck where I am mentally and physically. I feel hopeless and so lost. I'm starting to crave death again, and self harm doesn't sound so bad either. I don't know who I am. I don't know what's in front of me, everything is familiar but broken and I don't know how to put it back together. I would rather leave. I don't think that's possible though, without me my home can't function. But I can't exist anymore, I feel like I'm drowning.
