Hey my publisher finally got my book series, The Silent Trilogy, up on Apple Books! Check it out!!!
My publisher calls Silent Trilogy 'X-Men meets Good Omens'. That's not wrong but it is a series about abuse, colonialism and the importance of love in ways those aren't.
In more detail: the Silent Trilogy is an urban fantasy series set primarily in Hobart, Australia. It tells the story of the dainisa, a not-so-hidden magical community, focused primarily on their non-binary Princess, Torao Yamaguchi.
Desperate for her child to have a better life than she did, the leader of dainisa Amaya Yamaguchi sparks a revolution to claim Australia as a magical continent where dainisa can live in accordance with their own laws, not those of humans. However fighting power is a complex thing in a world built to function on injustice, and a pretty siren desperate for revenge could ruin it all…
Narrated through the eyes of a human who doesn’t quite get it, the Silent Trilogy is about the narratives we build of history. It's an exploration of trauma, the ways people learn to live with it, and how bigotry works. Also there's angels and demons messing things up. More info on the website!
I finished this series a long time ago but I'm still very proud of it!! It's a niche story I had a lot of fun with. I wrote this NB protag before I even came out myself so that's always cool. And every time I have to reread a part of the series I have a really hard time stopping cos I enjoy my own work so much lmao. So hopefully you'll enjoy it too!!
(it's also on Amazon if you prefer kindle, and if you don't wanna support either, well, chuck me a couple dollars on Patreon)
when i see people going around complaining about the media they consume 9 times out of 10 i’m thinking “please please get into more independently produced work” esp when it’s things like mass media trends or corporate interests or things that seem like they’re made for sanitized mainstream interests like yes those are all annoying but yk what has less of those… yk what has the marginalized focus and the earnestness and the experimentation that you say you want… that’s right. it’s art made by random nobodies
I have realised the thing that pisses me off the most about people buying Blood Libel: The Transphobia Fund and then being sad or surprised by the backlash for it "because they don't support JKR or the Devs" is that to be an ally the absolute bare fucking minimum you have to do to be an ally to any minority community is not participate in or encourage violence against them.
And these piss stains not only failed to do that, they actively paid more than my weekly grocery budget to fail at that.
I wanna buy all three of your books and I wanna know what's gonna be best for you:
Which method of ordering would give you the most direct funds, your Wordpress shop or Amazon? Cuz I wanna make sure you get as much of the profits as possible.
Picture of a silly Goose for you, for answering my silly question 🖤
Oh WELL!!! With a sweet baby fuzzyface like that, I'm happy to! 😁
The best direct-support option is to order from my shop. I can ship signed books and other merch anywhere in the U.S. For my international customers, it's books only (sorry, customs is stupid), but I can ship freshly-printed copies directly to you pretty much anywhere there's a KDP distribution hub nearby.
(To the best of my knowledge, there are hubs in the UK, Germany, France, Spain, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, Brazil, Mexico, Canada, India, and Australia. Distributions hubs often ship to more than one country.)
And of course, there are print and ebook copies available on Amazon.
If you're in the Richmond VA area, I also have a regular table at the River City Witch Markets at Diversity Thrift and Triple Crossing Brewery.
Ah hey, bookblr! It's currently Saturday the 29th of April and Bookshop.org is doing free shipping all weekend if you wanna get in on that to support independent bookstores and buy books online (from someplace that isn't Amazon or owned by them) and get free shipping! Just wanted to make sure the word got out there! (I'm not sure if they ship to places outside the US though. ; ; )
shout out to the person who read and left kudos on every fic I have ever written about elim garak this Thanksgiving, I hope my brain worms about this war criminal lizard man were somehow a comfort to you on the american civil religion's most cardassian holiday (derogatory)
I can't believe people haven't learned anything from the internet archive case.
maybe don't break the law? like? if nothing else, please learn that?
there are ways to make books accessible to the wider public that doesn't involve CRIME. the internet archive was in breach of the law. they made a bad choice and are now acting surprised about it, and are trying to get people to donate to them to appeal a case that frankly they shouldn't win, because they broke the law.
there are also people encouraging to show support to the internet archive by....further breaking the law. actively encouraging pirating and torrenting books. guys. seriously?
public libraries make books accessible to the public because they paid for the book from the publishers who published it, and through that license are entitled to loan out the book. the internet archive did not such thing. the did not have permission to make the books accessible. the internet archive is now in danger of shutting down through their own bad choices and not because the publishers suing them are villains whose only motivation is to destroy them.
i am frankly mad that the internet archive did this in the first place, as somebody who relied on them and their wayback machine very heavily during the research and writing of my dissertation in 2020 (about digital publishing nonetheless) and to find out that they'd digitised and released a bunch of in-copyright books without permission at the same time... we might lose a valuable resource because they fucked up. they. fucked. up.
Took a relaxing trip to a local indie bookstore and couldn't leave without getting Miyazaki's Shuna's Journey! I'll share a flip-through later to show how beautiful the art and layout are. Also stopped by a local coffee shop and had a necessary chai latte with a cherry almond scone 🌸
I picked up a super scary, probably haunted clown doll at the thrift store (not pictured) and I am sure she will make her debut in some book photos at some point 😉
