'Therefore, when a difficulty falls upon you, remember that God, like a trainer of wrestlers, has matched you with a rough young man... that you may become an Olympic conqueror; but it is not accomplished without sweat.' "

It's certainly less observed but at least equally true of the character of someone who whether by dumb luck, inheritance, or the fruits of their own labor become hyper successful professionally, or acquires high levels of economic status.

Think of someone you know and marinate on who they might become if they ascended to a "fuck you money" level of income tax bracket.

How might they behave when they are no longer forced to choose their battles and were not bound to the diplomatic necessities of those who must preserve their reputation and livelihood, and answer to employers and authorities while lacking access to top tier legal representation and connections?

Who are you, who do you become, when you're on the summit looking down?

That's who you are now.

Who you truly are is who you would be if you could afford to get away with it.

Maybe the real reason Batman is known in the JL for giving single syllable replies or even just grunts is that he trained all his small talk skills for his Brucie persona and now he doesn’t know how to small talk without flirting and he will absolutely not be doing that in front of Diana, Hal, Oliver, Dinah, J’onn, Billy, or Clark, all for very different reasons.

In all seriousness, the really fast reconciliation between Vaggie and Charlie was kinda upsetting to me in that they really didn't *talk* about the issue at all on screen. I understand fully that the low episode count was the likely reason for this. I know they HAD to talk about it at some point before the final battle, though. The entirely unnecessary full-demon rage glare Charlie was giving the defeated Lute seems to lend credence to that theory, at least. Charlie knew what Lute did to Vaggie, even beyond the battle bruises Vaggie had just gotten. Anywayyyy... this is my personal take on how that conversation went down. Used it as a fun experiment with a different coloring style, as well. Enjoy!!
