Nature documentary voice: and here you can see two loud birds, who were somehow in academically selective schools despite their . questionable studying capacities
@virtualstrangerpanda and I were trying to classify the different schools (based on how academically competitive and prestigious they were) and the presence of these two in otherwise "smart" schools really threw us in for the loop. And thus, the somehow "academically selected" duo was formed. By coincidence, they have white-ish hair, so Lev and Osamu also fit right in, making a group of 4.
But the real question is: who would win in a game out of the "academically selected" and the idiot quartet from karasuno?

ABOUT TO SHAPE A DRAGON’S BREATH
A young Indigenous woman enters a colonizer-run dragon academy—and quickly finds herself at odds with the “approved” way of doing things—in the first book of this brilliant new fantasy series. The remote island of Masquapaug has not seen a dragon in many generations—until fifteen-year-old Anequs finds a dragon’s egg and bonds with its hatchling. Her people are delighted, for all remember the tales of the days when dragons lived among them and danced away the storms of autumn, enabling the people to thrive. To them, Anequs is revered as Nampeshiweisit—a person in a unique relationship with a dragon. Unfortunately for Anequs, the Anglish conquerors of her land have different opinions. They have a very specific idea of how a dragon should be raised, and who should be doing the raising—and Anequs does not meet any of their requirements. Only with great reluctance do they allow Anequs to enroll in a proper Anglish dragon school on the mainland. If she cannot succeed there, her dragon will be killed. For a girl with no formal schooling, a non-Anglish upbringing, and a very different understanding of the history of her land, challenges abound—both socially and academically. But Anequs is smart, determined, and resolved to learn what she needs to help her dragon, even if it means teaching herself. The one thing she refuses to do, however, is become the meek Anglish miss that everyone expects. Anequs and her dragon may be coming of age, but they’re also coming to power, and that brings an important realization: the world needs changing—and they might just be the ones to do it.
PRAISE
“A thorough delight . . . To Shape a Dragon’s Breath reveals a world that is complex and political through deft, thoughtfully drawn characters who, like their world, are complicated and believable. I love Anequs!”—K. Eason, author of How Rory Thorne Destroyed the Multiverse “Imagine a world full of dragons where a newborn chooses you to be its caregiver. Imagine you have to go to a special school to learn how to train it. Imagine that almost no one at the school wants you there. This is how the well-written, compelling tale of To Shape a Dragon’s Breath begins, and once underway it doesn’t let you go.”—New York Times bestselling author Terry Brooks

Dragonfall by L.R. Lam
Tumblr media
Long ago, humans betrayed dragons, stealing their magic and banishing them to a dying world. Centuries later, their descendants worship dragons as gods. But the 'gods' remember, and they do not forgive. Since they were orphaned, Arcady has scraped a living thieving on the streets of Vatra, dreaming of life among the nobility - and revenge. When the chance arises to steal a powerful artefact from the bones of the Plaguebringer, the most hated person in Lumet history, they jump at it, for its magic holds the key to their dreams. But the spell has unintended consequences, and drags Everen - the last male dragon, who was once foretold to save his kind - into the human world. Trapped, and disguised as a human, Everen soon realises that the key to his destiny, and to regaining his true power, lies in Arcady. All he needs to do is convince one little thief to bond with him completely - body, mind, and soul - and then kill them . . . Yet the closer the two become, the greater the risk both their worlds will shatter.

She Who Earned Her Wings by Vaela Denarr & Micah Iannandrea
Tumblr media
One does not learn to fly without taking a leap. And one has to fall to be caught. Nomi is a young druid finally taking the chance to spread her wings and leave her home. To see the world and discover its magic, beauty… and maybe love. Calia is a dragon on the hunt for angels, trying to square an old debt. That, and to get Laura, her desired bondmate, to finally return to her side, where she belongs. Nomi immediately catches the eye of the powerful dragons. Calia entices her with honeyed words and a skillful tongue. On the other hand, Laura, much smaller but equally intimidating, takes it upon herself to protect her. Despite the warnings, Nomi can’t help being drawn to Calia's charm, her power, her fangs… and the hidden gentleness in her eyes. She promises danger where Laura promises safety, and Nomi is torn between the two. Luckily there is a convenient cult out for the dragons’ heads, providing Nomi with ample distraction and at least one dragon egg to steal, hatch, and raise by herself. Perfectly normal things for a young transgender druid to get involved in! In the clutches of dragons, battling dark forces from beyond the stars, Nomi faces the questions of who she is and who she wants to be. Whether she deserves the love offered to her, and what it truly takes to earn her wings...

Twisted Tropes: An Examination of How Magical Girl Tropes are Subverted in Puella Magi Madoka Magica
(this is a long one, clocking in at over 1600 words. Enjoy!)
Madoka Magica has often been called a “deconstruction” of the magical girl genre, and while many fans refute that claim, it’s clear that it at least offers a darker twist on many of the tropes beloved and well-known in the genre. These tropes include the transformation trinket, the cuddly mascot, the monster of the week, magical girls having a secret double life, magical girls themselves being child heroines, and even the concept of why magical girls fight in the first place.
One of the biggest examples of these tropes being twisted is the magical girl transformation trinket, which in this series are Soul Gems. In more conventional magical girl series, transformation items are pretty, flashy items that enable the girl to transform from her civilian form to her magical girl form- and to be frank, serve the double purpose of selling toys and merchandise in the real world.
In PMMM, Soul Gems are beautiful Faberge egg-like items that serve the same purpose. It turns out though, that their name is very literal; they are gems that serve as containers for the magical girl’s soul (or may even be her crystallized soul, it’s not really made clear). Soul Gems are formed when magical girls make a contract with Kyubey and are the source of their powers. Moreover, because her soul has been ripped out of a magical girl’s body, her body cannot function unless her Soul Gem is within a few hundred feet of what is now her soulless husk.
In more traditional magical girl shows, transformation trinkets sometimes get stolen, misplaced, etc with no ill effect for their users except for an inability to transform. In PMMM, this is a literal death sentence unless the Soul Gem can be recovered (as displayed in episode 6, when Madoka tosses away Sayaka’s Soul Gem in an attempt to prevent her and Kyoko from fighting). The consequences of this are actually explored in one of the routes of the Madoka Magica PSP game; Sayaka is separated from her Soul Gem in a Witch’s barrier, and it takes Kyoko days to find it. In that amount of time, her body began to literally rot.
The next concept I want to explore is that of the cuddly mascot. Magical girl mascots are a common feature in many shows, from the Moon Cats in Sailor Moon to Cerberus in Cardcaptor Sakura to the many, many mascots in the Precure franchise. In all of these series, the mascots act as friends and often mentors to their magical girl companions; in most series, they are also responsible for empowering/awakening their magical girls.
In PMMM, Kyubey initially seems to be much the same. He is a cute, cuddly creature who is responsible for creating and guiding magical girls. Pretty soon however, it becomes clear that Kyubey is a sinister figure. His contracts don’t seem very benevolent; they seem exploitative, taking advantage of girls when they’re at their lowest point. And unlike the Senshi in Sailor Moon or the Cures in Precure, it quickly becomes apparent that the magical girls in PMMM are dealing with much higher stakes- at least, when it comes to their own wellbeing.
PMMM almost seems to ask the question: what kind of creature would give superpowers to children and send them to fight monsters that could very easily kill them? Even Kyubey’s appearance is highly implied to be a carefully calculated façade meant to lure teenage girls into a false sense of security and make them feel drawn to him. For example, Kyubey uses this to his advantage when he plays up his helplessness to Madoka in episode 1 when he’s being hunted down by Homura. In reality, the Incubator’s true appearance- as seen in Rebellion- are implied to be mechanical structures with giant eyes in the middle; a very alien appearance suiting their alien origins and psychology.
Speaking of child heroines, PMMM also addresses the magical girl tropes of the child heroine and the double life. In most magical girl shows, being a teenaged (or even child/preteen) magical girl is portrayed as an exciting, glamorous, heroic position. The role of magical girl is often contrasted against the mundane, yet still charming and school and civilian life. Magical girls often work hard to maintain the secret of their alter egos from their (non-magical girl) friends and family, although in some series the secret does come to light. However, the girls are usually able to enjoy a healthy balance between their personas.
In PMMM, magical girls seem more like child soldiers than glamorous heroines. Being young girls and not hardened adults, many magical girls face severe psychological trauma from the life they’re thrust into- much life real-life child soldiers. Most magical girls made their contracts without truly getting to think about their wish or the consequences of being a magical girl for the rest of their lives. And because getting enough Grief Seeds is literally life-or-death, they must spend most of their free time patrolling for Witches.
We get a good look at the toll being a magical girl takes on one’s social life through Mami’s character; supplementary materials reveal that she was once a popular girl who had a lot of friends, but after she was forced to contract in the same accident that killed her parents, she slowly lost all her friends because she had no time to do anything else but train, hunt Witches, fight Witches, etc in her free time. In episode 3, when Madoka talks about how she wants to be a magical girl, Mami outright tells her that the life of a magical girl is a lonely one and Madoka will no longer have time for things like boys or hanging out with her friends after school. Even in Magia Record- an alternate timeline that offers a much more positive look at the PMMM-verse- most magical girls are only friends with each other.
Another major example of a trope being twisted is that of the “monster of the week.” Most magical girl series have the girls fight monsters, and in many of those series the monsters are created from human beings. Sailor Moon and the Precure franchise are two standout examples of this. For example, in the fifth season of the 90s anime adaptation of Sailor Moon, people who don’t have “true” Star Seeds will turn into monsters called Phages if their Star Seeds (ie, souls) are ripped out. A similar phenomenon happens in Heartcatch Precure, with the added bonus of the victim’s consciousness eternally reliving the same state of despair that made them vulnerable in the first place. In all of these series, however, the magical girls are able to heal the victims and restore them to their former selves. Sometimes, if the monster/victim is a loved one or someone else known to them, they can even do a “I know you’re in there somewhere” plea to help them to break free.
PMMM takes the true horror of this concept up to eleven. Moreover, the victims aren’t regular people- they’re the magical girls themselves, and this fate is inevitable. Every magical girl, if she doesn’t die in battle against a Witch, will become a Witch herself who spreads despair and kills innocent people until the day she is put out of her misery by another magical girl. And she will be in misery; the Rebellion movie shows that Witches relive the worst moments of their lives over and over again and are psychologically tortured. A lot of Witches also seem to be in ironic hells. For example, Charlotte can create any dessert she wants except for cheese or cheesecakes, which is her favorite food. Roberta is surrounded by lascivious men (her familiars) who annoy her. And of course, every Witch was once a magical girl who once spread hope and saved people and now does the opposite.
It’s also made abundantly clear that once the Witch transformation happens, it’s over. There’s no saving someone. The only person in canon who is able to actually get results is Madoka- aka an actual goddess with huge karmic potential- and it comes with caveats (in one, later timeline she brings Sayaka back from the dead after she became Oktavia, and in Rebellion she is able to reverse Homura’s transformation into Homulilly- although afterwards Homura still needs to be brought into the Law of Cycles like any other magical girl about to become a Witch). In episode 9, when Kyoko and Madoka try to reach out to Sayaka’s inner self when Kyoko fights Oktavia, it ends in Kyoko’s death because nothing of Sayaka remains.
In most magical girl shows, the monsters of the week are just ineffectual mooks who are fodder for the evil organization opposing the magical girls. But in PMMM, they are mirrors of the magical girls themselves, agents of chaos and despair who present a very real threat to the magical girl’s lives- not to mention the lives of any unfortunate people who stumble across them.
Finally, I want to examine the topic of why magical girls fight in the first place. In most series, there is a group of villains who pose a threat to humanity/the Earth/etc and magical girls must oppose them. There is a very real external threat being faced.
In PMMM however, the beings that empower/perpetuate magical girls and are ultimately the threat are one and the same. Because the tragedy of PMMM is that magical girls are fighting against a self-perpetuating cycle; magical girls form contracts, magical girls become Witches, more magical girls form contracts and fight the Witches, and on and on it goes. Magical girls are their own enemy, in a sense.
I’m sure there are lots of tropes Im forgetting, but this essay is already over 1,600 words long, lol. I might make a part 2 at some point, so give me your ideas!

Symbiote!Matt Murdock x female reader
Tags/warnings: oh gosh where do we start? 😅 Oral sex (f rec), sort of non-con tentacle insertion at first quickly changing to 'yes please I am fully onboard for some consentacle porn', unprotected sex (p in v), assplay (m and f), slight choking, human and alien body fluids I guess, improv cock ring, and FLUFF (yes actually!).
A/n: thank you to the mutuals who enabled this 😉 and the post I saw from @thora-jane that inspired me in the first place (huge apologies if it's not really your thing let me know and I'll untag 🫢)
If anyone likes this I might try a more angsty exploration into the deeper moral issues that arise from being a crime fighting vigilante lawyer with an alien inside that just wants to rip heads off and eat them (thanks @spiderbabey for the inspo for that!)
After a brief chase through the dark city streets The Devil has the mugger pinned underneath him, baton poised above the guy's head, the silver of it glinting in the streetlight, his muscles straining hard with the effort of holding it back. He had heard the commotion, the threats, the gun being drawn and was on the scene in a flash of red. The guy saw the suit, the horns, and ran. As he tore off after him Matt could sense that the victim was shaken but otherwise unharmed but if he hadn't acted so fast…
KILL 'IM
"No!"
BAD MAN
"Yeah, I know. Very bad man," Matt grits his teeth together trying to keep the other voice at bay as he draws a hard breath.
KILL HIM
"No, No killing! I told you." Matt snaps.
HUNGRY
The deep growl has a sharp metallic edge to it that shocks right through Matt's veins. He can feel the power of it bubbling through him and it's taking everything to keep it inside and contained.
The devil had truly been let out. He could use it as an excuse for the things he did at night but the honest truth was that he wanted to do those things, he couldn't stop. He wouldn't stop. Since he'd been infected with this thing he was even faster and stronger than before, better equipped to protect the Kitchen… but it came with a price.
MAKE HIM SUFFER
The voice over his shoulder hissed as the perpetrator stared up at Matt, the smell of fear wafting off him.
DELICIOUS…
"We're taking him to the police and that's the end of it."
Matt dragged the man to his feet and dumped him at the station. As he jumped up the fire escape onto the roof of the next building the symbiote twitched under his skin.
YOU CAN'T HOLD ME BACK FOREVER MATTHEW
He ignored it but he knew he was in for yet another restless night.
And that wasn't all.
There was you.
It had been the worst possible timing. You had started seeing each other about a month before it happened, and he was on edge around you the entire time. You had put it down to nerves and stress at work, trying your best to get Matt to relax and not worry, to assure him that you loved spending time with him and he could just be himself.
PRETTY
"Fuck, no, don't ruin this for me…please."
"Uh, hey Matt, you alright?"
He tries his best to keep it together. "Yeah, yeah I'm fine, it's just this case… "
"A tricky one huh?" You ask him.
"Mmm, a total pain in the ass, you could say."
"Do you need to work late? Because it's okay if you do, we can rearrange dinner for another time?"
He'd let you take the lead, you had been the one inviting him up to your apartment after you had dinner together and on both occasions he'd politely declined, half of him not wanting to rush this and the other half terrified of what his alien side might do.
WE LIKE HER
Yes, of course he liked you, you were funny and smart and understanding. So much more than most.
However, this time after you had finished your meal and he had walked you home, you wouldn't take no for an answer. You knew he was probably just being polite, knew he really wanted to take things further but had something on his mind. You were so patient and open with him, encouraging him to talk about it if he wanted, to express his concerns. You didn't want him to do something he'd regret.
"I just, don't want to hurt you…" he'd explained, and that was the truth. He'd quickly fallen in love with you and the way you were giving him all the time and space he could need was just causing him to fall even deeper.
"You won't hurt me Matt, I know you won't." You'd said so sweetly as you pressed him up against your door, your lips falling on his.
The alien had been uncharacteristically quiet of late but he wasn't taking any chances when you pulled him into your apartment. He wanted to damage control as far as possible, there was no way he wanted to scare you away.
"I know it might sound strange with me uh, not being able to see but… is it okay if we keep the lights off?"
You smiled so warmly. "Of course, I want us to be comfortable."
God you were perfect. He couldn't fuck this up. He wouldn't.
+
"Oh, oh that feels sooo good, oh holy shit Matt, it's like your hands are all over me…"
Fuck.
You had your eyes softly closed, that much he could tell and was grateful for. Inky black tendrils were webbing across your naked skin and caressing your breasts as his own fingers were still woven in your hair and holding onto your waist as he kissed you, but he couldn't stop it.
SOFT
The dark voice within him rumbles with interest.
WE WANT TO TASTE HER
For once Matt found himself agreeing with his symbiote.
"Sweetheart," he says to you, kissing his way slowly down the side of your neck and down your chest and stomach. "would you let me do something for you?"
You gasp in anticipation, knowing exactly what he's about to ask as he gently nudges your thighs wider. "Yes, yes Matty please…"
You don't see, only feel the two long black shining tentacles that lash their way around your thighs, with two others branching out and teasing up and down your pussy lips, spreading them open and putting you perfectly on display for him. You take a sudden sharp inhale of air and Matt freezes. "Are you alright? I can stop…" that wasn't exactly the truth, he didn't know if he could.
"No, no no please don't stop! I just… it feels so different, I- don't know how you're doing what you're doing, but god, don't stop…"
Matt hums before he kisses the soft inner skin of each thigh, then slips out his tongue, dragging it slowly up the center of you, flicking it up over your clit. The sound you make has his dick throbbing.
He laps you up, his hands skimming up over your hips to hold you firm to his mouth as he takes his time taking you apart. He hears you whimper and twitch under him, and only then is he aware of the thick, probing, wet tentacle that's pushing its way into your pussy.
"Mm!"
"Oh fuck!" Matt curses, he can feel the sensation of you squeezing him through the symbiote. It's like nothing he had ever experienced before. You moan long and hard as you're filled, Matt's tongue still licking and sucking you towards ecstasy.
SHE LIKES IT
He can't usually control what the alien does, can only hold it back so much, but now he finds the control has been shared with him, the room quickly filling with slick sounds as he moves this extension of him within you, drawing out your addictive little moans.
He stops when he senses you looking at him. Actually looking. With your eyes.
He wants to die.
"Oh, Matt…" you sit up as he gently pulls away from you, the symbiote retracting slowly and carefully back under his skin with a grumble that only he can hear.
"Is this what you were afraid of, why you've been acting so strange?"
"I, god I'm sorry, I shouldn't have- I'll go-" he feels around for his pants but you crawl across the bed and grab his arm stopping him from running away.
NO
"Matt, please don't leave! Just tell me, is… is this thing a part of you?"
Matt sighs, hanging his head. "It's... still all so new but… yeah. I don't really know how it works yet." His head tilts adorably as he considers something.
"Why aren't you running a mile? Aren't you scared, or mad that I kept this from you?"
You only smile and pull him closer. "I'm only sad that you felt you had to keep it from me. If it's part of you, that's okay. I want all of you, Matt, if you still want me…"
He can't believe what you're saying, how could you possibly be any more perfect? He licks his lips, nodding. "Of course I do."
"Come here," you beckon, lying back on your bed. "We'll figure this out together, but only if you finish what you started. I don't know how good those other senses of yours are but… I liked it."
You trail your fingers up his side, his breathing shallow as everything you're saying sinks in.
"Touch me with them, Matt… please." Your voice is coloured with excitement and need and who is he to refuse you. His brows almost reach up to his hairline and the smile on his lips is as wide as his face when you reach for him. A soft gasp leaves you when his other side makes a gradual reappearance, the webbed, black tendrils snaking up your skin and coiling around your breasts. You sigh softly when one slides inside you again.
Rippling contractions pass down through the length of the tentacle, massaging you from within and making you mewl out with pleasure. Matt's breath wavers as you watch as another one wraps around his own cock and does the same, slowly squeezing and milking drops of precum onto the sheets.
The sensation of warm slithering and throbbing rolls over your clit at the same time Matt is desperately licking into your mouth, there's so much stimulation your brain is starting to melt. Slick wet sounds as the tentacle fucks in and out of you fill the room, and you feel your pussy walls start to flutter and contract. "Ohh, m'gonna cum-!" You moan as your body writhes and rolls against him. Matt takes it all in, he can feel the tight squeezing of your perfect cunt, the pounding of your heart, hear the sweet sounds you make as your orgasm rolls through you.
"You're so beautiful…"
He slows and gently pulls back letting you come back down. "Are you okay sweetie?"
You almost laugh, your body alight with desire. "Jesus Matt, yes!"
"If you want to stop-"
"Mm, no don't stop, let me feel you." you breathe, and tentacles are quick to wrap around your body, drawing Matt closer, bracing himself over you.
"You got any more of those?" You tease, arching into his touch while other thick strands of shiny black emerge and wrap around your legs pulling them open again. He moans against your parted lips, the coil that's around his hard cock nudging the head of it at your entrance, coating himself in your arousal. The tip of your tongue gently slides against his as he pushes inside, just the barest whisper of pain as he stretches you open.
SWEET GIRL, SO GOOD FOR US
Matt makes a quiet noise in agreement as he starts to grind his hips at your insistence. You feel like nothing else and he wants to make this good for you. You respond to every little touch of him and the symbiote, purring like a kitten when your nipples are pinched and tugged by the prehensile serpent-like appendages. The steady, slow drag of his cock in and out has you murmuring his name like a prayer while he shows just how much he adores you with his mouth, the warm brush of his lips caressing your sensitive skin and setting off goosebumps all across it.
YES
MORE
The voice at the back of his brain is greedy, but it soon becomes clear it's just echoing your own desires to him. He feels more tendrils slipping their way up to wrap around your throat and slither between your legs, hearing the needy, desperate panting from you when one of them brushes lightly against your ass.
"Uhuh! Please, yes Matty… please"
You beg him until the blunt, self lubricating tip of it breaches you gently. It's small and slender at first allowing you to get used to the intrusion, but then there's nothing but pleasure as it swells bigger making you feel stuffed full, pulsing every time Matt thrusts his cock deep in your pussy.
He groans as another tendril that's not under his control splits off, penetrating his own ass and throbbing against his prostate, while yet another curls tightly around the base of his sensitive cock to stop him from cumming right there and then.
"Fuck… fuck!" He whines at the intensity of all this feeling, connected to you in a way he could never have dreamed of.
You're so very near to falling apart, being thoroughly fucked from every possible angle, your eyes are rolling back and muffled moans escape from around the thick black tentacle that lays heavy against your tongue as you suck on it.
The creature inside him is suspiciously silent, seemingly content feeding from your throes of passion for now. But then it speaks again, a hungry voice full of sharp teeth and carnal want.
HARDER
MORE
SHE CAN TAKE IT
Matt tries in vain to shake the lustful haze from his mind. "Sweetie, tell me what you need…" he asks you, his voice strained and tight.
"M'so close Matt," you cry, "please, please harder… make me cum!"
He lets loose, giving you what you need, making you moan so prettily as his hips piston hard, skin slapping against the backs of your thighs. The improvised cock ring finally releases him, coiling lower to tug and pull on his balls and he ruts even harder chasing his own end. A slick combination of your own juices and those from the symbiote leaks over your bodies as they slip and slide against each other, only increasing the multitudes of sensation thrumming through you as the tentacles fuck, fill, tease and choke you. Your cries rise as you can't hold back any longer, cumming and creaming hard on his cock, your pussy and ass squeezing so powerfully he quickly follows, his fingers almost bruising your soft flesh as he's groaning and spilling hot inside you.
The symbiote growls and purrs along with him, satisfied and sated. It very slowly withdraws again, slipping out of your bodies leaving you wrapped in a sweaty mess of only each other.
Matt gently brushes some strands of hair away from your face. "You okay sweetheart? It… wasn't too rough on you was it?"
You stretch yourself out with a blissful sound against him, eyes half closed and a relaxed smile on your lips. "No, I… just didn't know I could feel that good."
Matt chuckles softly, kissing you on the cheek. "Neither did I."
You lie there for a few soft moments getting your breath back before guiding him to the bathroom, turning on the shower and pulling him in with you, letting the stream of hot water cleanse you both. His multiple tentacles are a great help washing your hair and soaping up your body, and you find yourself petting them and giggling as they wrap a fluffy towel around you when you're done.
"Honestly Matt, I think you're amazing."
Matt is almost brought to tears while he hugs you tight. It feels so good to know he doesn't need to face this change in him alone, and that he's lucky that he met someone as understanding and loving as you to share it with.
Now all he had to figure out was how to explain his other life to you…

Since I can not legally say 'in a free country' the words "I want to kill the USA president*" I will say this:
I hope every billionaire dies. And I don't care: I hope it's a drawn out (but not long), excruciating, impossible to cure, they are immobile AND incapable of communicating, death. LET THEM GOD DAMN SUFFER 10000x over what they have done to humanity. Maybe for their next couple lifetimes till the lesson sticks.
I hope every person who took or is taking bribes a billionaire dies. Legal or not (cuz it isn't moral any time). Same way they did.
I hope everyone who supports billionaires dies. Quickly. Idiots don't deserve to suffer.
Because I, myself, and millions of others are probably gonna starve to death due to billionaires. So if I die, I want ALLLLLL THOSE MOTHER FUCKERS TO DIE WITH ME.
So I heard they were requiring work requirements for food stamps. NOW. RIGHT NOW. During one of the largest unemployment times in ALL USA HISTORY, AND during what is now called the 'silent depression' which has been PROVEN WORSE than the great depression!
WHICH IS INSANE.
I have never in my life thought 'we should make the poorest most vulnerable PROVE they are poor, and EARN their FEW benefits.' NEVER ONCE. And I have had some dark, cruel, sick thoughts thru my life. BUT NEVER THAT.
Maybe cuz I grew up poor. Maybe cuz I had poor friends. Or maybe we are born on a shared planet, AND OWE NO ONE FOR THAT. NO ONE. Not a single god damn person owns this planet but we pay rent to them, cuz we were CONNED into believing it.
Anyways, they require EIGHTY HOURS A MONTH. Or you're disqualified**.
And either you have to have a job job (that, btw, YOU CAN NEVER QUIT. Seriously. It says that! You have to have a GREAT reason for leaving. FORCED LABOR. AND you can NEVER volunteer to take less than 30 hours a week if you got more than that. WTF?!)
You can VOLUNTEER for FREE work. So in other words, DO NOT GET PAID, but, get enough money in a month from food stamps for about....3 weeks. I have NEVER ONCE in my life had food stamps last the whole month. Not even when I was in CA 10 years ago. Indentured servitude, anyone?
OR you can do work training programs thru the state, to teach you USELESS SKILLS that fucking high school should have taught you. Again, UNPAID.
So 2 of the ways they want you to work is to work for free, never getting beyond just to QUALIFY getting enough food from food stamps for a couple weeks. GENIUS! <fucking morons>
But 80 hours. Mandatory. Every single month. (Btw, isn't that cutting into the BEST times of the days for me to apply for and interview for jobs? IDIOTS!)
Hey-I don't mind applying for jobs, interviews, and telling you all about them. I got tons of proof I am trying to get into the work force. I am trying to make an effort. I like security, go figure.
But I have been unemployed OVER TWO YEARS. Only THREE INTERVIEWS in those 2 years. NO JOB OFFER YET. Closest I got was a job interview requiring a covid jab, and there's no god damn way in hell you're forcing me to do something to my body in order for a job. FUCK OFF. MY BODY, MY RULES. Other they wanted me to sign an arbitration agreement, which ALWAYS FUCKS THE EMPLOYEE. It is NEVER to your advantage; they were created so LEGALLY you can't sue your employer. THAT IS IT. Seriously; look into it.
I would already be DEAD, not exaggerating, if not for the food stamp program I have right now.
So now I have to apply for ANY job, take ANY job, and have to stay there till I die or I won't get food? Never moving up? Never earning more money (cuz the second I do, I LOSE food stamps, costing me even more money?)
Even if I am mistreated to the point I am suicidal?
I genuinely would rather die than enable this evil abusive system. Sincerely.
But I'm not going to do so without a fight. And maybe taking out a billionaire or so with me. Cuz it doesn't matter how much power, protection, and secrecy they have. With enough time, thought, and planning, one bullet isn't that hard to meet it's target. Ha....and if you're smart enough, it's food poisoning anyways. They're SO fucking arrogant, they forget who makes their food and does all their work for them. <And if they get paranoid enough, they'll just quit eating and starve to death, like me.> ;)
They're pushing me to the edge, and I swear, I don't push back. I bring them down the cliff with me...if only so they can't do it to another.
So let's do this. Let's see who blinks. I have NOTHING to lose; you have EVERYTHING to lose, rich bitches.
*I promise, like they want to make homelessness illegal, and they made that solider who lit himself on fire an 'enemy' cuz he believed in anarchy (which SIMPLY means NO RULERS), they will start arresting anyone anti state. Which is ironic: if I was in jail, I'd be promised more food and shelter security, FOR FREE, paid for by the taxpayers (and costing them SUBSTANTIALLY more), than if I remained in my current situation. Oh, and don't forget, largest for profit prison population used as SLAVES. So they gain 2 ways: state pays them to imprison them THEN they get to use them as cheap labor. THIS IS AN EVIL GOD DAMN SYSTEM.
**Again, if I just went out, and knocked up ANY random woman, and she gave birth, I would be promised food stamps, no work, instantly. Love that catch. Bring a child into the world you can't afford, and we'll feed YOU. But if not, starve to death if you can't find work***. Every single thing is broken.
***This just made me realize...if you were working even...70 hours a month, they would require you to volunteer for another 10 to get food stamps. What if the volunteer work only occurs the same hours you're at your job? Jesus fuck, did NO ONE think this thru in ANY way!? It always fucking gets worse...
<Do you think even a billionaire does 80 hours a month in work? FUCK NO. But we BAIL THEM OUT every god damn time.>

hi! I'd love to hear more about the characters from your novel if you'd like to talk about them :) I really liked the art you posted. Your line work is always so neat 💕
Aw thank you!!!!
This is the first time I've drawn them that they feel close to being right. Thank you for giving me a chance to rant about them ;_;
For funsies I also had asked @exalted-dawn her impression of them 😂
Tumblr media
Spencer (Main Character)
Tumblr media
Spencer is flying home to tell his very strict first-generation father that college just...isn't working out. He got a full ride, but his first term has been full of loneliness and failure. He's developed an anxiety disorder that he knows his father is just not going to understand. He dreads this conversation -- but when he finally gets home, he finds his dad has been kidnapped, and it sets him off on a journey to discover what his father left behind in Mexico. Spencer wasn't raised with his culture, doesn't speak Spanish fluently, and feels like an outsider but finds his place among friends eventually, and figures out ways to honor his history without succumbing to the same pressures that led his father to become a harder man.
It turns out that his father is the missing Crown Prince of a hidden magical refuge; the would-be King is necessary to anchor the spell that keeps magical people safe from the outside world, but for reasons, his father will not be able assume the throne. Spencer is pushed by different factions to become the King for different reasons: some want revenge on people who wronged them, some want freedoms that the Old Ways didn't allow them, some want things just to go back how they were. Spencer has to do it or the magic in the world will fall apart, but he is reluctant to impose his outsiders point of view on this world he wasn't raised a part of. He mostly just misses his dad, and feels like a failure and an outcast, and wants people to stop fighting.
He figures himself a bit over the course of things, finding his true name for himself, realizing that being gentle and loving and VULNERABLE doesn't make him weak, and encouraging the prior generation to embrace healing and build a better future not just materially but emotionally for their children.
Spencer's magic doesn't manifest until very late in the story and he's almost overwhelmed by it, until he understands that Love is his power, and that Love is Knowing. So he sets out to Know his domain and his people by looking, listening, and living among them, and protecting them not by enforcing strict rules, but by enabling them to live freely and build the world they want to see.
Evan
Tumblr media
Evan is the greatest magician alive. He quickly surpassed the lessons of his adopted father, and in his boredom and pride he likes to take risks. Paradoxically, despite knowing how powerful and talented he is, Evan is constantly trying to prove himself. The thing is, his adopted father is the established and famous Greatest Magician Alive and leads the (dangerous) search for the missing Crown Prince--yet he refuses to let Evan help. His father truly just doesn't want to waste Evan's skill on what is increasingly feeling like a futile quest to put the world back The Way Things Were, and we come into the story right when Evan's father is about to give up. Their relationship is oddly contentious, with his father scorning the risks Evan takes and citing them as reasons Evan "isn't ready" to join the quest, but that's a mask for his father's own insecurity and depression about the task.
Evan is, also, cursed. Evan was found as a newborn in a field of corpses, and Death has left its mark on him with his pale complexion and a strange mark across his back. The mark was left there purposefully by whatever necromancer caused the destructive ritual that gave Evan life. The mark is a curse that Death will follow Evan wherever he goes, kind of making Evan a prophecied dark Messiah type. His adopted father had been chasing that necromancer as his mortal enemy, and he knows all this, and yet took Evan in and raised him with love.
Evan has a chip on his shoulder about the curse and also thinks that his father is keeping him isolated so that the curse won't hurt anyone. His only real friend is Sara (below), because their fathers are childhood friends, and Evan loves Sara deeply, and she is not afraid of the curse at all. But then she dies, and Evan spirals. Eventually Evan realizes that his death curse is the exact trade off that grants him his power to see ley lines and use magic so proficiently, without verbal spells. He is the only person who can actually SEE the Deep Magic unraveling and identify how Spencer can help, without Spencer losing himself to the factions and pressures around him.
Evan and Spencer turn out to be related; Evan was actually one of Spencer's ancient ancestors who was resurrected as a *replacement king* himself, but the ritual was too powerful, killing the necromancer so that Evan was left unaware of his destiny.
His own curse helps him understand other curses, which is integral to pointing out to Spencer that fate is bullshit and they can rewrite any wrong in the past.
Sara
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Sara is the youngest child of a family famous for raising (and riding) world class dragons. Dragons are large creatures historically domesticated for war but now they primarily just race! And Sara is one of the greatest dragon racers in the world, with her black dragon Tezca.
Dragons, and their riders, share a special bond. Dragons are beings of pure Wild Magic and value freedom and passion. Before they were domesticated, they instinctively sought to form relationships with mortal women (the myth of the stolen princesses and dragons, you know), either because the girls would attract powerful magicians and passionate knights, whose valor and courage and magic the dragons would steal away, OR to form a symbiotic relationship with the "princesses", fostering their passion and courage. The latter is what was nurtured by the first Dragon Riders. By living with the dragons so closely, they also developed a connection to the Wild Magic themselves. While this doesn't make ALL dragon riders magicians, it does give them instinctive advantages to navigate the natural world because they can see magic like a dragon and understand how it works in nature. People who are not chosen by dragons but want that power hunter dragons or bargained with dragons to form blood pacts, to hasten the changes that would otherwise come naturally from living with a dragon.
Sara is from a long line of people who live in harmony with dragons, which is why she has serpentine eyes. She was raised essentially on a farm, learning to raise dragons for other people to ride. She was also raised as a boy, but had always felt more like a girl, and when she was chosen by a dragon she decided to come out to her family and pursue her dream of being a dragon rider. Her family accepted her, but it's been harder for the sporting community and the world at large. Some view her as a fraud racer, but over the years her prowess has been proven to be a genuine bond with her dragon and the strength of her passion and sense of self.
Sara believes that the everyone and everything in the world can grow and adapt. She sees how the Wild Magic thrives in its chaos and freedom and how it responds to change and she sees that reflected in people too.
Evan would often stay with her family when he and his father were in town, as their parents are good friends, and Sara would visit Evan when he was abroad whenever she traveled for racing. She's been waiting for him to return her feelings for ages.
She dies heroically, and her ghost, being beyond the border of life and death, is able to see things that when she was alive she couldnt. She insists to Evan that his curse can be broken--even if he feels like her death means he can't escape his fate. Toward the end of the story she is resurrected and helps Evan and Spencer stand up against both the vengeful people who want Spencer to be king, and the angry masses who want no more Deep Magic, and together the three of them chart a path forward that no one ever tried before.

Uchiha compounds (headcanon)
Madara Golden Age ~lore
Tumblr media
I've drawn a map of the Uchiha headquarter house during Madara's leadership. Compounds were mobile during the Warring state era. As mercenaries groups, they were expected to follow movements of major conflicts. Their houses were made of wooden boards without nails. The boards could be imbricated one into an other like pieces of a puzzle. They only need a couple of days to dismantle an entire site and move it from one place to an other. Size of it also varies depending of the season. It can be isolated groups of 10 units to a large assembly of 5000 houses. During military campaigns they prefer middle to small group more flexible in case of sudden retreat. In winter time and during important festivals they tends to come together. Generally the main compound where the leader resides, is the bigger one.
The love story between Uchiha and falcons is ancient. Originally they were use to help them hunting up in the mountains. In the beginning of the Warring state era, one hundred and fifty years before Madara's birth, falcons were trained to recognize their owner's chakra anywhere in the world and enable uchiha groups scattered in the country to communicate quickly. In a time where messages went at human' speed, falcons are able to exceed 320 km/h in dives. Uchihas reputation for collecting informations and act fast was renowned and feared in battlefield.
During Tajima's leadership, Uchiha Shinobis united their forces under a single authority but remained mostly nomads. In Madara's time, they started to slowly accept a more permanent headquarter with some factions still in motion like satellites protecting the core. Finally, after many tribulations, they definitely settled down in Konoha alongside other clans, signing the end of a nomadic way of life.
I'll explore more of this period in chapter 5 : A name carries power from my fic Madara Golden Age, available in the table of contents and my AO3

So I looked through Strixhaven Commander earlier
Theres a lot of rad cards and weird things in that set. So much gets churned out, I wanted to bring up 10 cards worth pennies from C21 that are worth picking up for your binder.
These are NOT price speculations. These are cards I think play interestingly and are fun for the format.
Tumblr media
Artifact decks LOVE cracking small artifacts open for different ones. There’s a kind of wheel and deal with them, using goblins or trading post to bust em open for something new. Audacious Reshapers is a great new card for the category, producing a new artifact with another left in the gy for recursion. Great for Ichor Wellsprings and the like to crunch em down for a random but likely more useful thing. And if it ain’t great crunch it down again!
Tumblr media
The technique cycle is rad. I think white is the only one I hesitate on. Demonstrate is great and often well worth the extra copy. I feel using the word Interaction to describe removal is being a bit too broad. Removal does’t cover all of interaction, interaction can go beyond removal. I will creative technique a player who is behind and jumpstart their strat to keep from having to solo the stronger player. This card is a red Unexpected Results that can be discounted down to R and works well with Prosper and other cast from exile strats.
Tumblr media
This is more interaction I think people should run. Ideally you use this if you can manipulate the top of your deck or have a high mv. You get more cards drawn in the game and you start chipping life totals faster. It comes out turn 2 and each turn after you draw 2 before you start playing things. I’m a big fan, plus you get insight on what your opponents are drawing.
Tumblr media
This card is clunky at 5 and lots of things you’ll want to cast hurt your life total a good deal, AND its still (1)B. This card is not the most ideal. Its strong if you have life to spare like orzhov lifegain or life to waste like Greven Predator Captain. Not ideal, not perfect, but this card will enable something nutty in the future. Its gonna be bonkers when it happens.
Tumblr media
Essentially a Epic Experiment in blue, Talrand decks get access to whats usually an izzet brand. Its easy to see only casting one card as a downside but really this card digs for a lot of spells then allows you to use one now and keep the rest for later. Great when your spells have delicate timings. Also less likely to be counterspelled than Epic Experiment is.
Tumblr media
Paradox Zone is huge. The first turn you play it the card makes a 2/2 then next turn a 4/4. What makes this card stand out to me is its dual counter nature. The card itself doubles counters, then the tokens it produces have power represented in counters. That is NUTS with any proliferate. If you drop this and get a 2/2, then next turn Proliferate, you will double 3 counters into 6 and make a 6/6 then tick up your 2/2 into a 3/3. Proliferate makes this card pop off and it can be played the turn after you drop Atraxa. With how much counter based keyword tech there is its easy to juice these too. This card can make some wild tokens very quickly.
Tumblr media
Reinterpret has quickly become my favorite counterspell. You can literally get a turn ahead of your opponent with it. The card you cast doesn’t need to share a typing, it just needs to be equal or less mana. This card is ideal for helping spellslinger set up key pieces before popping off, and it can be discounted to UR letting you counter with one blue mana.
Tumblr media
We’d mentioned cracking artifacts earlier. Grinder is a 7/4 menace so you can swing big to deal damage. Its also got mountaincycling so you can discard it to pull a shockland with intent to recur this later. Most importantly you can crack it for a wheel. I find wheeling in monoR artificer to be HUGE. And as a creature you can easily slot it into reanimator builds or sacrifice builds. Its a multipurpose card that refills your hand!
Tumblr media
Im shocked by how little I see this card. This is a card that ends games. This is a card I ended a game with tonight. Spellslinger is an archetype that’s perceived as being creature light, and I think that’s false. Talrand, Murmuring Mystic, Alandra, Unlikely Alliance, Shark Typhoon, Metallurgic Summons, Manaform Hellkite, Zaffai, there’s so many ways to spawn tokens off casts its nuts. Getting the damage buff is already good, getting to copy spells is great, getting to freecast is insane. That’s two magecraft triggers per spell. Tonight I exiled Magma Opus and Ignite the Future giving my dudes +12/+0. And the freecast triggers all your Talrand and Metallurgic Summons again! I prefer this over Mizzix Mastery. MM takes forever to resolve and doesnt move the game along unless you win with storm. Victory buffs your dudes, motivates play through combat, and can lead to a nutty level of casting. Also look at that pest. He’s goin so FAST.
Tumblr media
Its simple. (2)U, copy a dude. Usually your opponent will stop playing dudes, but there’s a few cases where they’ll be unable to. Primal Surge, Genesis Wave, Sudden Disappearance, Living Death, Rise of the Dark Realms, and the best part is you don’t steal it, the threat level is lower and the game can continue. Theoretical Duplication is a great warding card, one that joins in on a crazy turn rather than stops it. I run it in my Riku hugs so I can copy the spell to get 2 dudes for each 1 you get. It is a potent and underrated pick at just 3 mana.

what it is about christianity do you think attracts such horrible people (like homophobes, transphobes, racists, etc)? ive been around christians my entire life and i’ve really only met 2 or 3 who aren’t just terrible and bigoted. as a christian myself it makes me feel uncomfortable in any christian space.
I'm sorry, beloved. There's nothing I can say to make this better. I understand and I hope you know you're under no obligation to exist in those Christian spaces, even if you (though perhaps only in name) share their faith. Here's a few thing I think about when this issue comes up, and then an attempt to answer your question!
Non-expert summary history lesson: Christianity was very quickly adopted/absorbed by the Roman Empire, and its Jewish and other Middle Eastern roots were purposely left behind or even erased. (You can see this in Paul's writings, as he encourages people to leave Jewish law behind, and in modern narratives, usually by white Europeans or Americans, that start with the Roman Empire and stay with European conversion, the Roman Catholic Church, and European/American history, perhaps addressing white missionaries to other places, but completely ignoring literally everywhere else with long histories of Christian history/theology/tradition.) Over and over, Christianity has de-radicalized itself to be more palatable to those in power. This enabled it to be widespread and powerful, and perhaps in some cases to survive at all, but personally I would rather there be one loving Christian on earth than millions of hateful ones.
I was talking to my dad about something similar the other day, and he was saying that when Christianity is a minority religion in a place, most of the people who are Christian are Christian because they really want to be, because they find joy and meaning in it. But when Christianity is the majority religion, especially when it's the religion of a state/empire, people who wouldn't be Christian otherwise are Christian regardless of (or even because of, to gain power) their hatred, violence, etc.
A tangent that I think has a point to make: I live in his hometown, so I studied Thomas Jefferson (an American "founding father," for those blissfully unaware) a lot when I was younger, and it was really interesting to learn later that he wasn't exactly what you would call a faithful Christian—he actually made his own edit of the New Testament to fit his beliefs. I used to think of the United States as founded by Christians, but ultimately it was founded by a few faithful Christians and lots of people who were just vaguely Christian because that was what everyone else was, that was what they were raised as, and that was what was normal and moral.
I also believe that a monotheistic, evangelist religion that believes its ways are holier and more civilized and moral than others' is prone and even doomed to supremacy and xenophobia. This is the trap I see people fall into in America—people cling to tradition (or at least what they think is tradition—some of it's only a couple decades old) and look down on anyone who doesn't hold their values.
I would also bring up the role of economic motivations, and would especially point to the slave trade—if you have a religion of state/empire, you can use it to come up with easy explanations for choices/systems, and accuse people who question it with questioning the religion/belief system itself.
There's also the smaller/more contained/more radical groups who think they've found the "true Christianity" or whatever—they can seem like the opposite of majority/state religion but often fall into the same traps, as far as I can tell.
My summary answer to your question: Christianity, in many communities, brings power/ways to control others, easy answers, excuses for actions, a built-in superiority complex, and a (fabricated) long heroic Western history. People who are brought up with and drawn to these things also fall into other belief systems with similar features—like racism, queerphobia, and patriarchy.
There is reason for some people to believe that Christianity cannot be God-given because of the evil it's done, and I completely respect that. For me it's reason to believe that our world is full of evil and will corrupt every good thing, but that is not reason to give up on the good, and all the more reason to live and die protecting it.
In general, I'm interested in making Christianity less politically powerful and therefore less attractive to those who want to abuse power; educating people on the fundamentally radical, empathetic, and communal nature of their religion; and making communities safer for people like us. I know that's a wish rather than a solution, but we do what we can!

Korosuu English Translation - Chapter 6: Sniper Time
Previous Chapter: Shopping District Time
Note: Although this was directly translated from Japanese -> English, I didn't write it word for word, and instead went with variants that flow better in the English language for a much easier reading experience. Raw scans were provided by the amazing @blazardragon, so a big thank you to them!
Along with Chapter 5, I actually finished translating this last year's summer. The initial plan was to wait for Nao to finish translating Chapters 3 and 4 before I post mine.
This is the chapter that birthed the joke that is Evil Enabler Chiba because... he is such a MENACE here, oh lord. Right up there with Karma provoking Grip at the hotel raid arc 😭
Tumblr media
"Well sorry for the warning…"
After muttering that under his breath, Chiba leaned out of the window sill and looked around to see that there was a brand new round hole in the window frame.
"So, what should we do then? Should we still proceed with what you said earlier?" Hayami asked.
Chiba kept silent for a while and shook his head.
"Thinking from the trajectory, I'm going to need you to stay close. No matter how good I am, I wouldn't be able to shake it off if I were to make a mistake even by a few centimeters in a place like this… But even so, I would like to be able to give back the same "warning" to that man, at least."
Hayami swore she could almost see a quiet flame being lit through Chiba's bangs. It was an expression she had rarely seen from him.
Tumblr media
[Illustration]  A hole was made as a result of sniping work by the Legendary Sniper. A mechanical pencil was inserted into the window frame hole to measure the angle at which the bullet flew.
"If you follow the trajectory with this-"
While saying that, Chiba took pictures of the mechanical pencil from directly above and the sides using a smartphone camera with a grid display on the screen. Then, taking an angle from the photo, he drew a straight line onto the prepared drawing.
Chiba's hand then stopped.
"What happened?"
Hayami immediately understood the reason for the sudden pause. Following Chiba's line of sight, what she saw was a pillar supporting the roof of the arcade. The problem was that the pillar was circular.
"Shit, that's right… We wouldn't know where the shot came from." Chiba realized.
The method that Chiba and Hayami came up with cannot be used if the ricochet location was slanted or curved.
"But you do know where the pillars would hit, right? And what about the vertical rays? Is that no good?"
Chiba pulled the elevation drawing map closer and quickly placed a ruler on it.
"Nah... It looks fine. We can follow it."
Fortunately, there were no curved objects like sloping walls or cylinders there.
"I wonder if we bounce the bullet from the ground or shoot it from the ground. There's no doubt that it'll hit the left side of the pillar… but that also means knowing that the bullet came from the left."
Chiba looked at Hayami while still following the drawn line with his finger.
"But if you bounce from somewhere else before that, then you wouldn't know where your opponent is anymore."
Hayami turned to the window sill. "The bullet that was shot into the window frame was quite powerful, wasn't it?"
Chiba followed along Hayami's line of sight. It was an old piece of wood, but as long as the rounded bullet had penetrated through it, it should be powerful enough to hit a human.
"That's right."
"If so, then I don't think you would need the bullet to bounce so many times. If you just wanted to give a little scare, I think all you need was to be pretty accurate about it."
Chiba reviewed the illustration.
"I see."
"And the bullets would pass through the feet of people walking around the shopping district. But is there any reason to go through such length if it's just to give back a warning?"
Chiba crossed his arms and pondered deeply.
It was exactly what Hayami said. There should be no reason to risk aiming at the feet of pedestrians who do not know where they are going. Regardless of aiming for the ultimate goal that is Koro-sensei, if an accident were to happen here, then everything they had prepared for would be ruined.
He has a reason to take such a risk, however. But he would rather avoid going through that length at all costs.
Hayami pressed a fingertip against a point on the drawing.
"This. Isn't it suspicious?"
Hayami was pointing at a box stationed just to the left of the building where the two of them are. It's the tonkotsu ramen stall that smells awful.
In the beginning, it was a prominent awful scent that made them want to pinch their noses. But as they checked the shopping district and began looking around, the two were so engrossed in what they were doing that they had forgotten about its existence.
"Well, imagine if you shoot from here."
"Huh?"
Now that he thought about it, there was something suspicious he noticed. A tall car model was used for the stall. But for some reason, it was fully wide open, and the old man inside was sitting cross-legged while preparing ramen, though a bit clumsily, and Chiba remembered that the man was in a sour mood the entire time they had been watching.
But earlier, it wasn't particularly on Chiba's mind.
"The food stall could also be helpful for us to move freely. Since the scent of tonkotsu ramen can cover us from Koro-sensei's strong sense of smell if it's a concern."
Chiba glanced at the ramen stall from the window.
"...No doubt about it. Except that car would be moving before you know it. So you wouldn't be able to see anything inside."
"That's true…"
Chiba clicked his tongue. "There's nothing we can do about this. Damn it, is there no better way to deal with that man?"
At that moment, the smartphone on the table began vibrating again. Chiba frowned a little and picked it up and thankfully, it wasn't an unknown number this time.
"Okajima?!"
"Yeah, I got a call from an unknown number earlier telling me that the sniper was working. So, I thought I'd try to assassinate Koro-sensei first because I'm a sniper too, you know?"
"Where are you right now? At a dining place?"
As soon as Chiba looked out by the window, he could see a shadow waving at him from his peripheral vision.
"Wait, is Takebayashi with you? I'm gonna need some help."
When Chiba shortly explained the situation, Okajima briefly laughed from the other line. "So in short, you wanna know what's going on with that stinky ramen shop over there?"
"Yeah, if that's alright with you. Also, if the distance is good enough, can the two of you guys show me the old man at the ramen stall through a video call?"
"I see, so you're going to triangulate."
At the same time Takebayashi's voice piped up from the other line, the phone screen was split into two, and the ramen stall was projected on them at different angles.
"Would this be fine?"
Chiba went to grab the rangefinder, answering yes. He measured the positions of where the two guys were and the position of the man making ramen using what was projected on the smartphone. Then he pulled the table with the illustration towards the window so he could determine the angle of where the two points would meet.
"Hayami, can you shoot as instructed?"
Hayami, who was already heading for the rifle, gave him a thumbs up in response.
"Horizontally: 12 degrees 22 minutes and 52 seconds. Vertically: 24 degrees 7 minutes and 21 seconds."
Tumblr media
The moment when Chiba just finished talking was when the sound of firing echoed. Beyond the screen of the smartphone he's holding, Chiba saw a BB bullet graze a figure.
"Horizontally, you're about 30 centimeters off to the right. But vertically, it's fine. Do it again."
The instruction he gave was more of an estimation based on what he saw through the screen, but Chiba was convinced that Hayami had an accurate grasp of it.
Another sound of the gun firing.
"This time, about 10 centimeters to the left. The rest is fine."
Though the screen of the smartphone was a bit delayed by the firing sound, Chiba saw the BB pellet bouncing on an old man's shoulder.
The said old man, who was trying to calmly present a ramen to a customer, suddenly dropped the bowl in surprise.
From outside the window, the duo heard a small yet heavy noise… then immediately followed by screams and yelling. One of which they cannot make out what the word is as it was certainly not Japanese.
They saw a figure who appeared by flipping up the floorboard and was caught by the old shop owner who looked like a mess.
"Is it a hit?" Hayami looked back at Chiba with a relieved face and he smiled at her. Then she turned back to the rifle again, and after a short while, pulled the trigger.
BANG.
Beyond the screen, the foreigner-like man's face, perhaps the Legendary Sniper himself, was stuck in a surprised expression. The BB bullet that was shot by Hayami is firmly digging into his forehead. Chiba raised a small right hand. Then Hayami matched the lifted hand with her own.
Then, when he turned to look back at his smartphone, the sniper was stunned and wasn't even looking at the screen. He wouldn't have thought that he would be shot this way.
Chiba turned back to Hayami in delight. "Hey! There's no target we can't hit, right?"
Hayami laughed with a pleasant expression.
Okajima's voice suddenly echoed from Chiba's smartphone.
"I'm happy for you guys and all, but sorry. Koro-sensei's heading over there."
Tension returns to their facial expressions. Chiba, who was attached to the scope of the rangefinder, found Koro-sensei, who had just left the product exhibition, and was about to return through the arcade.
Chiba had set a target shortly before Koro-sensei arrived and determined the angle of the incidence from the drawing. Then he raises his face to give Hayami instructions.
"It's your turn this time." She interrupted, however.
Hayami's hands lightly touch his shoulders. Chiba, who changed places as prompted by Hayami, shut his mouth tightly and sat down in front of his rifle.
This time, I would have to finish it in one shot. The second Koro-sensei notices me, I know I wouldn't be able to hit him anymore.
Chiba could hear his own heartbeat from the back of his ears. This was not just a sniping assignment. It was a situation he created by working with Okajima, Takebayashi and others, and Hayami.
As he held still, he felt that the ambient noise disappeared.
He could hear Hayami's breathing, which helped him measure the time. As she unconsciously breathed in, Chiba felt like he could truly see what he was seeing through the scope.
He could see Hayami's right hand going up high. 2 meters left… 1 meter. It was as if Hayami was speaking out.
The arm swung down exactly the same time Chiba pulled the trigger. It was a feat that could have had absolutely impossible timing if he had instead reacted visually.
BANG.
The BB bullet released from the rifle reacted exactly as Chiba expected it to be and attacked Koro-sensei diagonally above from his left.
It was at that moment.
Hayami, who was looking through the scope of the rangefinder, suddenly withdrew. "Eh?"
"...He saw it."
Startled, Chiba instinctively leaned out the window and looked down at the street.
=0=0=
"Aww too bad."
Among the crowds in the shopping district, Chiba and Hayami stood in front of the usually smiling Koro-sensei.
The confidently deadly bullet was evaded by Koro-sensei, who withdrew his neck right on the verge of being hit.
"Sensei noticed that you were planning something."
Apparently, looking at Chiba's expression who was inspired by Okajima's failed mirror technique, Koro-sensei immediately knew that he would be aiming for a ricochet.
"It's a great pleasure to see my students voluntarily attempt to assassinate, let alone, look up, and come up with their own methods from what little information available they could gather." When Koro-sensei noticed the Legendary Sniper's gaze, the man stiffened then immediately jumped into the driver's seat and sped from the shopping district.
"Maybe I don't have to tell you this, though. You can only realize the growth of your students when you're a teacher."
After a deep emotional smile, Koro-sensei turned to the two again.
"This was your homework. Complete this sniper technique. While there wasn't a deadline, you weren't given any hints instead. This was something that you all would have to work on your own. And this isn't just only useful for assassination. What you get in the process of this homework will probably broaden your knowledge and ideas far more than you can imagine."
Then, with a smile on his face again, Koro-sensei lifted the manju he grabbed with the tip of his tentacles.
"Nurufufufufu~ Today is a really happy day. This way, you can feel the growth of your own students and taste the manju that you have been longing for. I thought I could relax today in the staff room while enjoying green tea, but it would be a waste if I couldn't enjoy it at such a wonderful moment."
Chiba felt uncomfortable at the sight of the light-coloured steamed bun. It looked like something round was digging into its surface. By the time he realized that it was the BB bullet he had shot earlier, Koro-sensei had already chomped down the steamed bun.
Koro-sensei's high-pitched screams echoed throughout the narrow shopping district.
The class of year 3-E is an Assassination Classroom.
Tomorrow, the morning bell will ring once again.
Tumblr media
Notes:
My boy is a fear-inducing risk-taking menace and he ENABLED Hayami to do his bidding (aka get revenge on the legendary sniper) only because he didn't like to be called a hindrance. If that doesn't scream petty then I don't know what to tell y'all... 😭
I love how we got a great callback to chapter 4 where Chiba and Hayami talked about combining their contrasting efforts to make things possible. Because we first have Hayami with her great timing being meticulously instructed by Chiba so she could aim accurately. And then our ever so accurate Chiba, whose overthinking tend to distract him but Hayami was there to keep him grounded and get his timing on point.
Also, this kinda proves that Koro's unpredictably was what caused Class E to ulttimately fail their Island assassination attempt, not the snipers' own mild mishaps. With the support of Hayami's timing, Chiba's perfect shot should've done him in. But it didn't so... Blocking the bullet with the snack he's holding, it's exactly what happened to Red Eye's attempt on him during the Kyoto trip 😭
And the remaining bits of official content we have left has now come to an end! I hope you all have a good read because... we won't be getting any new official content any time soon, I fear 😭

Zonnia Pokedex: Deenay and Helixent
Deenay
Strand Pokemon Dark Grimer + Nickit
Appearance
Deenay are serpent-like Pokemon, comprised of a number of varying sized, free-floating, coloured orbs that maintain a relatively serpentine shape measuring three feet in average length. Each orb ranges between two and six inches in diameter, with a fixed size based on its colour. There are six possible colours these orbs may be: black, white, and muted versions of red, green, yellow, and purple.
Two of these orbs, the smallest black orbs, have white circles on them, with a white ring around the circle. These orbs maintain position at the head of Deenay, appearing as eyes. They frame a red orb, which is the largest, which has a wedge missing from it to resemble an open mouth.
Deenay are a floating Pokemon, which usually remain close to ground level, but can rise up into the air should they wish. Their body distorts as the orbs that comprise it drift about, but always maintains a general serpentine shape as it does so.
Ecology
Originating from the innermost reaches of the Yuracha Thornlands, Deenay became an ubiquitous Pokemon throughout the Zonnia Region in the wake of the Zonnia Disaster. The Pokemon absorbs light as food in a manner reminiscent to but biologically different from photosynthesis. Vocalisation occurs by vibration of the body, which causes its manifold parts to rub together, while sensory perception is based on echolocation. The eyes of Deenay respond to light, but not detail.
Deenay possess a strange life cycle, consisting of individuals merging together and splitting apart. At any time two Deenay may wind their bodies together, consciousness seemingly blending, the only result being a denser body of more individual orbs. These two Deenay may then split apart, again seemingly without any effects upon them, and go their separate ways. At times when Deenay split apart they may split into three, with this being the method that new Deenay come into being. The biological specifics of these processes are still being researched.
Due to their floating nature, and requirement of only sunlight for ongoing survival, Deenay can exist almost anywhere above ground. Significant heat or cold does not seem to concern the Pokemon, which enables a wide living range. When drawn into combat, Deenay move quickly and jarringly, their body distorting into shapes that cause attacks to miss them entirely. Focusing on Dark-type attacks that confuse and disorient opponents, Deenay do not boast a significant amount of power, but the power they do have they wield very effectively.
Physical contact with Deenay causes an extremely strong feeling of vertigo in humans, and notable discomfort among many Pokemon as well. No lingering effects or toxins appear transferred by this process, making it unpleasant but not harmful.
Deenay evolve into Helixent after being exposed to a Dawn Stone.
Field Report
Field Report for Deenay submitted to the Zonnia Pokemon Laboratory by Carlo Leone.
The process of Intercession produced numerous by-products as a result, which previously remained unknown to we of the modern day. The primary Pokemon involved in the process was Mimirra, who was tasked with reflecting moonlight through the dimensional veil to make contact with the Great Serpent. However the reflective abilities of Mimirra alone were not enough to send these messages, which is the reason Kaleidistorta's own plea is made using sunlight - which does not work appropriately due to the necessary communication involving light reflected from the moon.
To account for Mimirra's inability to pierce the dimensional veil, even in great numbers as the arrays used to reflect moonlight once were, the Kani invoked a secondary process that temporarily weakened the barrier between dimensions, allowing the reflected light to pass through. It is this combination of weakening and reflection that caused the holes which would lead to their own disaster to form.
The process of this weakening generated significant heat, which was managed by the artificial Pokemon Novawa, the “Sun Child”. And to keep the systems involved further cooled, they were submerged in purified water for operation. Beneath the surface of Ruku Pata, amongst the machinery the Kani people created, these abandoned machines remain. The water they were submerged in has turned silver in colour, remnants of the Intercession process leeching into them without regular cycling and cleaning. For four hundred years this pool remained.
When I unsealed it, in response to fresh air and light, Deenay emerged from within.
The Pokemon are curious, and non-aggressive. On touch I feel a disturbing volume of vertigo, so much so that I collapsed. The Pokemon did not seem to be bothered by this, but lost interest in me while I was on the ground. In walking the empty halls of Ruku Pata, I can see Deenay spreading this way and that, some coiling together - perhaps already producing new instances - while others go their own way. They float, and can rise up off the ground with little issue, but seem to prefer remaining close to the earth. None have challenged me and I have battled none.
No records among the Kani, and none from Aabysra's memories, speak of this Pokemon. It is a new species in terms of being undiscovered, or perhaps only born when light was exposed to the water they emerged from, though I hesitate to call it water given its colour and consistency - I am sure it would be toxic to humans. But it has clearly been waiting to be born for a very long time. It's strange that Team Midas did not locate this vat, but then they did not have access to the knowledge that I do.
Intercession. Waste runoff. Water. Remnants of the process. And serpents. Aabysra's knowledge does not extend to the Great Serpent, whether it lacks that knowledge or refuses to offer it to me. But were I to make a prediction, which I will, I would say that these Deenay are a warped reflection of the response of Intercession. If Intercession was meant to reach the Great Serpent, and the waste run-off from this contact spawned new serpentine life, who themselves only arose in response to light, then they are reflections of reflections, a fractal splitting of light back and forth across dimensions.
Their bodies are unstable, and I have witnessed more than one disperse. The process of wrapping together appears to stabilise them. With this information, I hope that you are able to follow these Pokemon and learn far more than I could alone.
Follow the source link to AO3 to read the Private Addendum for Deenay, and learn about its evolution: Helixent!
