Alright so i’ve seen the Thor, Love and Thunder trailer a few days back and i really don’t know if i’m going to like it or not. If it’s going to be anything like Thor Ragnarok i doubt that i will.

I’m especially curious to see the reason as to why Jane would jump into the role of her ex– or if there is anything else behind it.

Also– Loki isn’t in the movie! Like come on!!! (I still hope he will make an appearance but i don’t think he will)

Fair warning, I am absolutely going to gatekeep Jane Foster. I was fine when Wanda gained such a huge fanbase post-WandaVision because she was so underserved by the plot before, so having been a fan since 2014/15 (whenever they announced the twins being in AoU and we started getting behind-the-scenes promo) it’s great to see her being so popular now. It’s just people seeing how awesome she’s been all along. But no, you do not get to come in and say you love Jane now that she’s Thor/has powers if you’re also a person who has ignored her existence for years or said that she’s boring and useless and “not Thor’s equal” because she can’t fight.

This includes Feige and Waititi and their stupid sexist comments, women (or any people!) don’t have to be physical fighters to be badass. Jane has been badass and amazing the entire time because she’s an astrophysicist and loves science and is endlessly curious. Those are the traits that A. got her a Nobel prize, B. let her help save the world with science, C. are the reasons Thor fell in love with her in the first place.

I absolutely love Jane as Thor in comics, but the reason she’s so incredible is not because she fights her enemies with the powers of a god, but because she does that while being human. That is quite literally the entire point of her story.

5. What’s a fic idea you’ve had that you will never write?

Now seems like as good a time as any to bring back that idea that I had and wrote approximately six paragraphs of without any context or plan, which was 'Lilo & Stitch AU of Thor: Ragnarok, where Darcy Lewis is Lilo and Hela is Stitch'.

19. Give us a small teaser from one of your WIPs.

I'm gonna give you one from...the continuation of the light of all lights, the Stranger Things AU of Dracula that I decided in May I wanted to write juuuust a couple more scenes of, which then promptly bloated into thousands of words. Because that's what fics do. (FYI, if you're doing Dracula Daily and this is your first time reading Dracula, the premise of this fic draws on some stuff that hasn't happened yet in the novel's chronology.)

Mina digs her fingers into her knees. The stiff denim of her jeans squelches slightly, the last of the saltwater cold against her fingertips. There hadn’t been time, had been too much danger, to even think about going home for her swimsuit. She’s regretting going into the water fully clothed now, of course. But she hadn’t wanted to strip in front of the boys. Too prim or too shy or too much of both to skinny-dip in the quarry on graduation night, even when Lucy’d begged her to join them in the ice-cold water. And still too prim or too shy or too much of both to let Art Holmwood see her in just her underwear. Even with Jonathan’s life on the line. Even with Lucy –

The image is burned, seared, forever into Mina’s brain. She recoils away from it, the same way she had in the pool, not wanting to see. Wanting to remember her best friend happy and laughing and warm and beautiful and alive, not wanting to remember –

It’s too late for Lucy.

But it might not be for Jonathan.

The pool, the makeshift sensory deprivation tank, had been Dr. van Helsing’s – Bram’s – idea. His design. It was a crutch. A signal amplifier, to help focus Mina’s mind, to broadcast it across whatever impossible distance lies between her and her absent friends.

And it had worked. She’d seen, where before she’d only ever been able to hear fragments of Jonathan’s voice. She’d found him, curled up shivering in a corner of the old treehouse where he’d taken her for so many picnics. The treehouse they’d jokingly called their castle. They’d made elaborate, unserious plans about moving into the treehouse together, before the house, before the proposal, long before Jonathan took that fucking night security job down at the lab. They’d laughingly considered it as an option, if they couldn’t find a place they could afford to rent on a teacher’s salary and a law student’s lack of one. Considered it as a home.

To see it rotting away in a deep, unnatural twilight, black decay eating through all of its walls and making the floor slant and skew, had been almost as frightening as seeing Jonathan so pale and thin and hollow-eyed, so ragged and so desperate. But Mina had seen it, as clear as though she’d been standing on that slanted floor. Had seen Jonathan, had heard his quiet voice humming their song to himself under his breath as he tucked his windbreaker tighter around himself. Had knelt on the boards of that floor so she could reach out to him –

She’d needed the pool to be a signal amplifier, before she could find Jonathan. Before she could find what was left of poor dear Lucy.

But they’re an entire world away.

It has many names. Telesthesia, to the scientists. Remote viewing, though it be more old-fashioned. The children of the flower called it ‘astral projection’, and believed it the gift of an enlightened spirit.

Mina chances another glance between the two guards. Both of them are still paying her an uncomfortable amount of attention.

Oh, well. It can’t be helped.

Mina turns her eyes down onto her knuckles, and tries to concentrate.

What intrigues me about the Thor 4 trailer is that between the teaser a few weeks (months? I don’t keep track of time anymore) back and last night’s full trailer, it seems like there is going to be a lot of plot happening in this film. Like, from what I gather, some plot points will include (but are not limited to):

- Flashbacks to Thor’s childhood on Asgard - Thor traveling with the Guardians - Thor getting into shape at some point (though this will probably be a montage rather than a plot) - Thor battling with the Guardians (or, at least, throwing his shawl[? - personally I think it’s a variation on the slutty poncho from TDW but.] to reveal his new post-workout physique) - Thor walking away from battling with the Guardians - Thor returning to New Asgard/meeting up with Valkyrie - Encountering Thor!Jane - Going on adventures with Val and Thor!Jane (ending up with him naked in an arena at some point; Taika really likes the arena scenes I guess) - Encountering Gor - Being threatened by Gor - Battling with Gor ^^ the fact that Gor is the Big Bad implies that all of the other things are just part of the journey to get to the eventual showdown with Gor, yet I’m sure Gor is a whole plot in itself, so. (Anything less would be a waste of Christian Bale.)

So basically what I’m saying is that I’m getting an idea of what Taika meant when he implied this movie is even crazier than Ragnarok and that’s cool with me tbh, there’s clearly too much going on to be able to tell from the trailers whether or not the movie will be good. Idk, I’m emotionally invested in this only to the extent that I will probably feel Loki’s absence like a big, gaping hole and I will feel Some Kinda Way if he’s not mentioned at all, but I was rather pleased that Thor appears to have a huge fucking tattoo of Loki’s horns on his back, so we’ll see how that all shakes out.

And basically, other than that, I’m more or less happy to enjoy the movie bc I love Thor and did I mention loving Christian Bale, bc I do and it’s actually kinda embarrassing how excited I am to see his character in this.

Anyway, not that anyone asked, but that’s my take.

I’ve collected my initial, one-time-viewed, Love and Thunder thoughts…

Not the worst Thor, but definitely not my favorite.

Thor himself was great, I will never get tired of seeing Hemsworth play him.

Valkyrie rose up on my MCU Favorite Character list after this movie. I don’t think I realized how much I missed her.

And now we come to Jane…

Jane, good. Jane’s storyline, bad.

It felt like the only reason she came back was a) because fans missed her and b) to serve Thor’s storyline, not her own.

It honestly pissed me off a little. Especially considering it was Taika and it didn’t seem like a Taika move. I’d have rather they not have brought her back at all rather than have her there purely to benefit Thor’s self-realization.

I’m more mad than I’m letting on. Screw Marvel.

The story felt inconsistent. The first half held up really well, while the second half fell pretty flat.

I expected more because, again, it’s Taika.

However, it was HILARIOUS. I haven’t laughed that hard at a movie in a while. That’s one thing Taika does well is comedy.

Russell Crowe was a highlight.

Until he tried to kill Korg which scared the living s*** out of me.

“I’m bashing heads in 60 seconds.” “Literally heads will roll.” “Who are you?” 😂😂

The goats 😂😂

I loved that we got to see Darcy and Erik again. I can’t imagine how devastating their reactions will be to Jane dying, though I doubt we’ll ever see that.

Matt Damon, Melissa McCarthney, Sam Neill and whoever plays Thor making a return was hilarious 😂

I was bummed we didn’t get a Loki teaser. Or even a flashback. It felt like something was missing!

Gorr was a decent villain. I really hate Christian Bale but he did a great job of playing a really creepy guy. I’d put him in the top #10 MCU Villain list.

Thor being a dad is…strange? Not bad, I just don’t think I’d have ever expected it to be a storyline of his. Not without Jane at least but I digress, I’m trying not to be bitter…

It’ll be really interesting to see where they take his character in future projects.

Which leads us to the post-credit scenes…

Seeing Idris Elba was unexpected but so so welcome. Heimdall is such a comforting character and it was great to see him come back.

Jane in Valhalla was a nice wrap up of the beginning with Gorr, but again, she should have never died.

And finally….

I didn’t get a clear enough look at his face when he came on but I heard the voice and saw a beard and thought ‘IT’S BRETT GOLDSTEIN.’

Then I thought, ‘wait, there’s no way it would be him. He’s not big enough to be on Marvel’s radar.’

Because, let’s be real, they typically only pick really big names.

Then on the way home, I googled it and I WAS RIGHT.

I freaked out and haven’t stopped since.

I am SO excited to watch him in the next Thor. He’s going to be incredible!!!

Plus, THOR WILL RETURN!!

All in all, I’d give it 4 solid stars. Nothing more, nothing less. It kept me entertained, but the story was definitely lacking. I don’t think Marvel movies (with exceptions like NWH, Shang-Chi and Black Widow so far) will ever be up to the quality of the pre-Endgame ones. The only movies I have real hope for are Wakanda Forever and Cap 4.

Personally never understood the whole Loki x Jane Foster shipping...

(And not just because I have been TaserTricks since 2011.) I love them both, but they would be so bland together. A villain-heroine ship I could get behind though, that has been inching its way through my head since casting or the teaser trailer, is Gorr the God Butcher x Jane Foster. Like I already knew I was going to be a simp for him, but it would be intriguing. Plus for all that it is literally Thor 4, I am counting on the new Thor on the block to be the one to save the day. (And if I am not mistaken, Natalie Portman was the original casting for the 'first love' role in the Dark Knight trilogy, so would be interesting to finally see what chemistry she has with Christian Bale in a comic-book film.) I am assuredly trash, but already claiming all the appropriate tags.

My "Thor: Love and Thunder" review, SPOILERS ahead!

I'm going to start with this just to get it over with: Yes, Jane dies. She dies from stage 4 cancer and while I kind of expected it and had heard some rumors about it (I've never read the comics, mind you) it still made me sad. I have always been a Thor x Jane shipper and of course I wanted them to be together again and be happy forever.

I loved Thor and Jane's scenes together though. While I had seen their fingers entwining in one of the teasers I hadn't actually expected them to KISS. The first kiss was wonderful and it made me cry, I truly felt like I was watching the first Thor movie again😭 (never liked The Dark World and never watched Ragnarok because I knew Jane wasn't going to be in that one).

Jane as Mighty Thor KICKED ASS, I loved it and during the final battle I was all "YES, YES!". Natalie was also incredibly good-looking as Mighty Thor and I hope they somehow can bring her back even if she is dead. The after-credits scene shows her being welcomed to Valhalla by Heimdall so she's not "dead dead" and my clowny mind wants to think she can come back somehow🤡

Christian Bale as the movie villain Gorr stood for the best performance IMO and I can see why he has been praised for it.

Otherwise the movie had lots of comedic moments, especially at the beginning, but also moments that were cringy (as expected).

Shame that Valkyrie didn't have a bigger role, I enjoy her character (the Thor movies are the only Marvel movies I have seen so I haven't seen her in any others).

I didn't like that Thor "adopted" a for him random kid (Gorr's daughter Love hence the title "Love and Thunder") because Gorr dies at the end. Gorr had barely seen Thor as a good person and I was left confused by it, it felt rushed and a bit out of the blue. The whole movie felt rushed at times but I have heard the "Taika-cut" of it is like 4 hours or something.

All in all I give it 3,5/5 thunderbolts.

after the teaser trailer came out for thor love and thunder i saw a lot of people hating on it and saying the movie doesn’t look like it’ll be good but after watching the actual trailer i think it doesn’t really look bad anymore because they showed a lot more than they did in the teaser trailer like i don’t think it’s gonna be marvel’s best project but i don’t think it’s gonna be bad either

phase 4 only has 4 amazing projects (in my opinion) and has made me scared to go in with any expectations other than very low
