Modern Fantasy Monsters: Party Culture
Satyrs throw the best parties. Hands down going to a satyr’s party means that you’re going to go in for a good time and come out completely plastered but, happy.
Sirens who sing karaoke in a separate room together so they don’t cause chaos with their hypnotic voices. They have singing contest with their friends on who can sing the best song.
Fairies who create enchanting dancing circles. BUT, they make sure that it’s safe for humans and other creatures to join in.
Merfolks doing dumb stunts jumping into the pool. They jump from different heights all landing perfectly in the water. (A human tried to follow their mermaid friend by jumping off the patio and fortunately an orc caught them just in time before they hit the ground)
Werewolf girls looking out for their human friends making packs of safe spaces for women to escape from creepy guys.
Dwarves bringing ALL of the alcohol. But, also being surprisingly  responsible with people who are drinking.
Elves who are usually studious and uptight completely let loose during a party. All of their defenses go down becoming a completely different person. (Next time someone brings up the elf at the party they adamantly  deny that they changed and get pissy when someone brings it up)
Orcs, Satyrs, Dwarves and Ogres all having drinking contest with each other. It’s always fun to see who wins.
Witches and Wizards who brew potions mixing them with alcohol with mixed results.
Demons creating big bonfires with their flames..

there are truly endless aus for stobin when you really think about it. put those guys (gender neutral) in a situation and they do great. any situation. they're the situation duo. "situation" is stobin's middle name. wherever a situation does not exist they will create one. they are endlessly creating evading conquering situations

Changeling!Tim’s childhood is... actually kinda horrifying, when anyone looks into it.
(CW for forced medical procedures, and abuse in the form of temporary imprisonment. Also, minor self-harm, and… I don’t know what you call “eating something that will make you sick so your parents don’t get mad at you,” but I know it ain’t good.)
Tim had pretty pronounced fangs when he was younger, which his parents were just planning to wait out... until he was fast coming up on 10 and it was clear Tim wasn’t going to lose his teeth. A quick x-ray proved that Tim didn’t have adult teeth to grow in, just the one set he came with, and the fangs were only getting more obvious. His parents found an orthodontist willing to yank the fangs & wire up the rest of Tim’s teeth with braces to force them to look smooth & even as he grew up. (The doctor kept the teeth as a curiosity, and a decade later Damian will track that doctor down to steal them back.)
Something even Tim didn’t realize until he had to undergo a full Justice League-grade medical exam in preparation for becoming Robin, is that the tiny points on his ears aren’t natural. They have no idea what the ears of the baby Jack & Janet received looked like, but Tim’s points are actually mostly scar tissue. (Bruce puts it down as “a cosmetic procedure not dissimilar to ear cropping in canines” and tries not to feel sick.)
(There was also a period where the Drakes did an awful lot of research into cosmetic eye surgeries, but they eventually gave up. Apparently, it was a bigger concern that their son might end up blinded than that his eyes glowed in the dark and/or were the wrong color.)
As I mentioned before, Tim’s parents trim his thorns so that nobody goes to ruffle Tim’s hair and realizes he’s not human. He... actually started doing it himself when he decided to become Robin, because Tim has seen Bruce ruffle Jason & Dick’s hair so many times and didn’t want to hurt Bruce (or experience the absolute agony of having a thorn get caught in Bruce’s gloves and end up ripped out of Tim’s scalp,) as well as not wanting to give away Tim’s own inhuman nature with the single most obvious trait he has. (When the rest of the family find out, they are horrified and insist that Tim stop doing that. Instead of hair-ruffles, Tim gets hair-strokes that go only in one direction, bumping harmlessly over the curved outer edges of his thorns; it’s actually very soothing for both parties. Everyone absolutely uses Tim’s thorns as a stim toy, as long as Tim’s okay with it.)
Tim’s parents also hire an in-house barber to cut Tim’s hair, so they can make sure it’s “properly disposed of.” (Tim’s nightmares always smell faintly of burning hair.)
Tim wears fancy dress gloves to all dinners, because with the uppercrust you never know if someone’s going to bring out the real silverware. (If someone tells him to take off the gloves or Tim’s skin happens to brush up against somebody’s jewelry, Tim just sorta has to... deal. It’s rude to rush out or refuse your hosts, after all.) (Fortunately, Dick and the Titans all prefer reusable plastic silverware. And as soon as any Bat finds out about Tim’s fae nature, Wayne Manor quickly switches to stainless steel.)
It’s nearly impossible to know if a meal was prepared with iodized salt or non-iodized salt until it’s already in Tim’s mouth and the burning-itching discomfort of coming in contact with an anti-fae substance begins. It’s rude not to at least try the food someone offers you, and it’s even ruder to just spit something out, especially out in public. At least Tim doesn’t usually have to fake it when he says he’s not feeling well in order to stop eating. (Tim doesn’t tell the Waynes about this until that medical exam, where he kinda jokes about being allergic to salt and someone’s like, “Wait, how do you eat? Everything has salt in it nowadays.” Alfred rather forlornly puts his sea salt up on the top shelf and buys a jar of iodized table salt on the next grocery run.)
Tim’s blood is immediately identifiable because it has chloroplasts in it. No, he’s not actually a plant; yes, he can perform limited photosynthesis. No, Tim was not aware of this about himself, he’s never been allowed to give blood before, and like??? Sure, he figured out he was a changeling, but that does not immediately translate to, “Oh, I should test my blood for plant cells!”
Tim’s room doesn’t look any different from any other boy his age... except for three nails over the door on the outside. For the iron horseshoe Tim’s parents hang there sometimes, when they don’t want him to bother them or when he’s grounded. (Thankfully, it's been very rare for Tim to actually be trapped in his room, as setting up a salt line on his windowsills has always been... well, he's not sure. A step too far, even for his parents? A step too many to remember and/or perform in the heat of the moment? Something they don’t even realize is necessary, assuming the horseshoe prevents Tim from leaving the room at all rather than simply crossing that one threshold? Tim doesn’t like to think about it. Tim typically stays in his room anyway when he feels the swooping nausea of it hanging over his door, if only so his parents don’t find him missing and decide sealing the windows is something they ought to be doing. Trapped not by any law or binding ritual, but by Tim’s own admittedly rare fear of consequences.) (After Tim is snatched by faerie hunters, Jason and Dick are the ones who search Tim’s house. There’s a moment of silence when they find the horseshoe and realize what the nails are for. “I really hope I don’t have to point this out,” Jason says, in the tone of someone who’s going to do it anyway, “but it’s never a good sign when a kid’s bedroom has a lock on the outside.”)

Fae Courts of the New World
Why is it that whenever fae courts show up in urban fantasy stories, they always seem to take directly from the classic European depictions. Where are the fae courts that have adapted to the Americas, and not even like in a modern sense. Here’s a few possibilities:
Court of Dogwoods and Liberty: One of the original fae courts formed in the new world, the Court of Dogwoods and Liberty (CODAL for short) consists of fae who dress in colonial style and follow the guidelines of their founders: life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness for all (and they do mean “all”, none of that “special snowflake” crap).
Court of Pinstripes and Absinthe: A fae court enamored with the Roaring 20’s, COPAA consists of fae who party in style and class: nice suits, flapper girls, and high quality hooch (just be careful not to drink too much at one of their parties).
Court of Lawns and Suburbs: A surprisingly wide spread fae court, COLAS has several branches across America, bonding with different neighborhoods and act as supernatural HOAs (you do not want to mess with them).
Court of Phasers and UFOs: One of the more futuristic fae courts, COPAU model themselves after sci-fi culture, having a variety of advanced technologies such as scanners, laser guns, and spaceships (which, ironically, lead to them being mistaken for aliens and being the source behind several UFO sightings).

kiss or kill
(♡) fandom: skz (♡) pairing: jeongin/hyunjin, minor hyunjin/felix (♡) rating: explicit (♡) on indefinite hiatus
To kill or not to kill, that is the question. When Hyunjin is told a human will fall in love with him, the answer seems so simple: death is the only option. After all, the bones of a lover give a bone faery more power than anything else in the world. As their prince, what else is Hyunjin meant to do?
Of course, he doesn't expect to fall in love with the human too.

i'm still thinking about the fae zedaph prompt so much that i have. an entire au in my head now. that i am now sharing, in case others are interested.
so the setting of the au is an intentionally kind of anachronistic blend of sci-fi and fantasy, and those things often come into conflict, with a lot of magic interacting badly with technology and technology interacting badly with magic. a vaguely earth-like setting from the near future, where there are robots and space travel and cybernetics, but ALSO a vaguely earth-like setting where there are portals you can slip through that will drop you into the feywild and there are magcial creatures lurking beneath the surface. the idea is like, if an urban fantasy had the 'urban' part set in a sci-fi world.
anyway, so zedaph is an ancient fey creature. a wild fey no longer really associated with either court, but at one point having belonged to the seelie court, zedaph mainly just courts chaos. he's PROBABLY some kind of archfey, but it's worth noting that even other fey aren't fully certain what zedaph is supposed to be at this point. see, in a move that makes almost no sense to a human, zedaph has started to get bored of the games of fair folk. he finds them too... predictable! and sure, to HUMANS the fair folk can seem chaotic and without rules, but to zedaph? he wants something NEW AND EXCITING.
too bad that these days, even if he IS invited into the human realm, it is a bit dangerous to navigate for a fey such as himself. his own deep connection to nature and the natural world makes it so he has some trouble when he's in the tall metal cities of the human realm.
enter: tango.
tango is an android built for... some purpose. he's not really sure what his purpose is, or if he still has one, which is kind of distressing, because his creator either died or abandoned him before tango was turned on. he likes building zany contraptions, sure, but he also sort of wants to search for SOME kind of meaning in his life, since androids aren't really built to be purposeless and that lack of purpose is starting to wear at him. and in another setting, this is a great start to a cyberpunk story about what it means to be human, but in THIS setting, tango accidentally proves he must be developing a soul when he stumbles through a portal to the feywild by accident and fails to find his own way out.
the good news for tango is also the bad news: he's not built for a natural place like the feywild. see, his creator had made him largely out of cold iron, and that, even more than any specific technology, repels fair folk magic. so the good news is that he is largely immune to fey shenanigans! the bad news is that the feywild itself is rejecting him, putting him in immense danger.
enter: zedaph, who is FASCINATED to discover that these days the humans are making machines with souls. zedaph, eager to discover something new, makes a bargain with tango: tango guides him in the human world so zedaph doesn't die of metal poisoning, and in return, zedaph guides tango whenever he stumbles into a dangerous supernatural hotspot. look, zedaph's even making a fair deal and everything, since he can't just like, steal tango's name and force him to, on account of not even tango knowing what his true name would be! the two of them shake on it, and as such, a bargain is struck between both android and archfey.
they both find each other surreal and baffling but are ALSO each other's best friends in an equally baffling and surreal world.
impulse comes into this story later--after whatever the first few adventures tango and zedaph have are, exploring both realms together to try to find something new and exciting for zedaph and something to give tango purpose, the amount of magic tango's being exposed to finally takes its toll, and tango starts to malfunction. zedaph panics as he realizes all at once that he has a friend (thing he didn't know he even could get?) and that friend is in danger. also, uh, more importantly that deal. right. that.
naturally, he then kidnaps the first software engineer he can find. this is a proportionate response, right?
luckily the first software engineer he finds is impulse, and impulse is hardly like, normal, either. like, yes, he's a fully mundane human with only the world's most minor cybernetics, he's normal that way, the way he's not normal is that he gets kidnapped by a terrifying and awesome fey to fix a paradoxical android and goes "this is so cool. hi my name is impulse it's nice to meet you! aw, geez," and acts like everything is normal. neither tango nor zedaph are quite good enough at the idea of 'normal human' to dispute this, and a friendship is then born.
impulse serves as the fixer for a lot of their problems that neither tango nor zedaph are equipped to handle, but he's also like, he'd theoretically be the everyman if he wasn't busy going "every man gets whisked away by the plot of a philosophy major's dream every once and a while right" and going with the flow on things NO SANE PERSON SHOULD GO WITH THE FLOW WITH. he's just chilling in the world's least "just chilling" scenario.
so... there you go there's the ENTIRE TEAM ZIT AU that my brain spawned from the prompt "fey zedaph" i hope you enjoy,

❀ Pairing: Fae!Yoongi x human!reader
❀ Summary: Every day, Yoongi works at the coffee shop in his little corner of the world. Every day, you come in and order the same thing, sitting in the same booth. The only problem is, Yoongi is pretty sure you don’t know that you’re one of the few humans in a faerie coffee shop.
❀ Word Count: 1,249
❀ Genre: Urban fantasy, secret crush, pining
❀ Rating: SFW
❀ Warnings: Light pining, Yoongi has an unspoken crush on reader, that’s really it
❀ Published: August 20, 2023
❀ A/N: Hi anon - I am so stupid and I did not realize until I finished your entire request that you asked for reader to work at the coffee shop and not Yoongi. Please accept my sincerest apologies, I got them switched around and wrote this entire thing with Yoongi as the worker and reader as the patron. I hope that this will work anyway, but please no I am so sorry for getting it wrong, I had to edit this author’s note because I did not realize I swapped it until I went to post this just now. AGGHHHH I’M SO MAD AT MYSELF LMAO.

| Masterlist | Ask |Hali’s Happy Agust |
“Have you guys ever been sued by Coffee-Mate?”
Yoongi looks up when he hears your voice at the counter. He nearly spills the matcha latte in his hand, not expecting to see you, ready to order. Usually, Yoongi sees you come in. He’s always ready for it, looking up as you enter the room like clockwork. The times that you catch him off guard are few and far between, his senses always alerting him to your presence before you do.
Today, though, he’s a little bit busy. With Hoseok out on vacation, it’s just Yoongi and Jungkook manning the shop and Jungkook is better behind the scenes baking than up front taking orders. It’s left to Yoongi to make all the coffees this morning, and of course, everyone in the world seems to be at Coffee Mates on an early Saturday.
“Uh,” he tries to put together a sentence, thoughts pulling together sluggishly at the sight of your pretty smile and vanilla perfume. He swears when he goes home to fall asleep at night, he smells vanilla. “Not that I’m aware of. I’d have to ask Jin.”
“Hmm, seems like a conflict of interest.”
Yoongi’s mouth quirks a bit as he fastens the top to the matcha in his hand and slides it on the serving counter to Namjoon. The gentry fae nods in thanks at Yoongi and shoots you a raised brow before looking back to Yoongi, a silent question. Yoongi gives the tiniest shake no before turning back to you as Namjoon sighs and retreats.
Namjoon has been trying to get Yoongi to ask you out on a date for the better half of a few months. Every day you come to Coffee Mates at the same time, with the same order. You always sit in the same booth, which Yoongi might have put a glamor on to keep it open for you, and you always pop open your book to read for hours, coffee in hand.
Yoongi supposes he could ask you out. You’re friendly enough and you seem to enjoy what few interactions you have. He’s caught you looking at him at least once or twice, though he worries it’s because his glamor has dropped in your presence or you’re seeing a waver in the magic that hides the nature of most of the shop.
Because unlike most patrons at Coffee Mates, you are blissfully unaware of all the magic that surrounds you.
At first, Yoongi thought it was a joke. Humans don’t just come to this coffee shop without knowing what it is. A bridge between worlds, a little haven for faerie suitors to offer their human counterparts an invitation to Faerie. Or for fae like Namjoon and Jimin, a place to hangout among other creatures of their kind.
Coffee Mates welcomes all fae creatures and their human counterparts, which is why you’re unusual. You have no faerie partner, no knowledge of magic. You don’t notice the floating lights in the shop or the pointed ears hidden behind Yoongi’s dark hair. A steaming cup of hot chocolate levitates just a few feet away from where you stand now as Taehyung draws on a napkin, and you’re none the wiser.
It makes little sense. But it doesn’t have to. The patrons and the workers of the cafe have accepted you all in some unspoken agreement. Watching you curiously, making eyes at Yoongi whenever you laugh particularly hard at something he says.
“Almond latte?” Yoongi asks, already typing in your order on the screen. You hum and nod, handing over cash. Yoongi goes through the motions of putting it in the register, but unknown to you, the money always appears in your wallet once more. He’s been pretending to accept it for weeks now, unable to bring himself to charge you. “Give me ten.”
“Hmm, I think I’ll only give you nine.”
He smiles. “Challenge accepted.”
You leave the counter and sit in your booth. Yoongi watches you from the corner of his eye as he makes your drink, hands memorizing every ingredient and heating it just the way you like it. Normally when Yoongi makes the drinks, he uses magic to help him. He gets much more done that way, but with yours, he always does it by hand. Takes his time to froth the cream for the design on top, always careful when he pours in the cream to make a leaf, or a heart, or something else cute on the top of your coffee.
Yoongi likes to personally bring it to your table. Every time that he does, you chide him and insist that you can come to the counter. He doesn’t mind, though. It gives him a moment to stretch his legs and escape the heavy hum of machinery and the buzzing energy of magic.
Today, you’re leaned against the window, an open book in your hands when he approaches. You sense him and look up, smiling and shaking your head as you snap the book shut. “Eight minutes exactly.”
He smirks. “When have I ever let you down?”
“You couldn’t possibly, Yoongi. You are singularly gifted in making my day.”
Yoongi gestures to your book to hide the fact that he’s blushing from the tip of his ears to his cheeks.  “What are you reading today?”
“It’s a romance book about soulmates.” That throws him for a loop. If you notice the way he blinks in surprise, you don’t show it. “It’s a really fun read. Do you believe in soulmates?”
He swears half the cafe turns to look at the two of you. Namjoon leans a little out of his booth, tilting his head to eavesdrop. Taehyung has dropped his pen and placed his chin in his hand, watching with a goofy grin on his face.
Of course the entire cafe full of sharp-hearing creatures is listening now, interested in your mention of soulmates. Yoongi clears his throat awkwardly, pulling on his apron. “I guess?”
“You guess?”
“I don’t see why not?”
“Hmm.” You look him up and down and for a second, he swears you see right through his glamor. See down into the core of him, heartbeat thumping a two-syllable rhythm: soulmate soulmate soulmate. “I hope to find mine one day.”
“I think you will.”
“Yeah?”
Yoongi feels his cheeks warm. Chews on his lower lip a little as he nods. “I definitely think you will.”
“Thanks, Yoongi.”
Everyone watches him return to the counter. He hides from their gazes by busying himself with wiping down one of the machines even though he could flick his fingers and be done with it. He needs the distraction to steady his hands and breathing.
Yoongi certainly believes in soulmates. The fact that you believe in soulmates sets him on fire. Ignites something in him that is nervous and excited. Something like hope, softley burning. For faeries, soulmates are quite common. It’s why Jin made the cafe in the first place, a haven for faeries to help bridge the world between the fae and their sometimes human mates.
When Yoongi looks up at you, rain splattering on the window, crowning your head, he thinks maybe he will take Namjoon’s advice, finally. Maybe he will ask you out on that date he’s been dreaming about. Because if you believe in soulmates, maybe you can believe in magic.
And maybe you can believe that the reason you’ve found this little invisible coffee shop is because your soulmate makes you almond lattes every morning.

Through the eye of your seeing ring, the expression on the guardian entity's face was unmistakable - you should not have come here.
so....I have had some small ideas for an AU set after the Pizzaplex burnt down. where Y/N is an urban explorer with a love for faeries and such, and in exploring the (surprisingly overgrown) ruins of the (seemingly) abandoned Pizzaplex they find that it is very under new guardianship. turns into a fun lil romp as MXES realises this human is going to be very persistent in coming back, but might be able to help him out....
expect small bits of Fae Ruins to crop up now and again, between So Cries the Wolf and Old Forest Gods

Here is a scene I wrote for an au (that I really need a name for bc it dominates my thoughts).
Bit (a lot) of background on this AU: It's supposed to be a superhero/urban fantasy/soulmate au. Everyone has some degree of magic, they just have to learn to harness it. All soulmate pairs are the canon ones from Double Life.
Scar (Hotguy) and Gem (Fauna) are heroes. Grian (Chaos Sparrow) is a vigilante. Pearl (Scarlet) is a villain. Jimmy is just a civilian, but he's a victim of the prophecy (basically just the Canary Curse).
It was supposed to be Scarian mild annoyance to lovers and Gempearl enemies to lovers, but it has gotten more focused on the:
Scar & Gem besties relationship,
the Grian & Pearl chaos skyblings relationship,
the Grian & Pearl & Jimmy & Lizzie skybling/seabling relationship,
the Scar & Pearl depression villain arc relationship,
and Gem & Grian's sibling dynamic.
At this point in the story, our four main characters (Gem, Scar, Grian, and Pearl) have made a deal. The higher-ups at the Hero Corp want to interrogate Scarlet (Pearl) for information because she's not only the primary villain of the city, she's also the leader of the underground, who are presumably the people who want to assassinate Jimmy (if he dies, it's basically Ragnarok). Pearl does not have control over individual people or groups in the underground, she just runs the system.
The Hero Corp wants Gem and Scar to retrieve Pearl and bring her to them. So Gem and Scar set up a meeting, since there is mutual trust between the four of them.
The conclusion was that they could take Pearl, but Grian would take one of the heroes as collateral so that he could ultimately get her back. They decided to exchange Gem rather than Scar because they knew that Gem is the Hero Corp's precious baby and they'd be desperate to get her back, which ensures Pearl's release. Additionally, Scar's magic is incredibly strong since he's a fae. He has a natural advantage that bypasses some of Pearl's talent in magic.
So he places a curse on her that can only be broken if Scar chooses to break it. Basically it prevents her from flying (she's got wings, so does Grian), getting out of range of Scar, and the curse includes the ability to control whether the person the curse is placed on can talk or not, but Scar refuses to utilize it.
Also since Scar is a fae, he can't lie. But he does have a silver tongue that easily gets around the lying factor. Also he doesn't know that he and Grian are soulbound. Also Gem doesn't have a soulbound. Also I'm really insecure about posting this like I think it's cool but maybe other people won't think it's cool but an IRL friend really liked it but idk and I did write this all on discord because I needed to explain the scene to said friend and it was going to be easier to just write it and AAAAAA
okay here are some words of scar being a badass byeeeee
-- --
The Hero Corp keeps insinuating that Scar is working with the villains. They keep insisting that he break more and more of his morals to find more stuff.
And finally, he just goes "Do you want a villain? Because I can give you one.”
And it's dead silent.
No one says shit.
Gem's apprentice, Guqqie, is there with their jaw dropped.
Scar's usually green eyes are glowing red.
He's angry.
"It seems to me that you want a villain," Scar says, his voice echoing in the silent room. "I can give you one. Isn't that what you want?”
No one says anything.
Scar's red eyes burn into the side of [boss]'s skull. "I thought you wanted a villain.”
Some people are staring at him. Some are trying to get out of this room. Some are trying to ignore what's happening.
"Did you not want a villain?" Scar asks. "I don't appreciate lying.
"I can't lie," Scar says. "I'm not sure if you know this, but I cannot lie. I feel like maybe you'd extend the same courtesy for me.”
"Do you want a fucking villain?" Scar snaps. "Or are you just unsatisfied with me having boundaries? Not liking how you compare me to Fauna and wish I got taken instead? Realizing that Villains are people too?”
It wouldn't've been terrible to be taken by Sparrow (Grian, Scar thought with mild wonder. A beautiful name. His heart fluttered, despite the situation), but the thought still stood. [boss] didn't know that Sparrow wouldn't hurt him.
"Don't you want a villain?" Scar asks, quietest yet. "Don't you?" More silence. The clock on the wall ticks. Scar can hear his heavy breath in time with his heartbeat. "Well, I'll give you one." He rips his hero badge from around his neck and lays it on the table. "I resign.”
And he stalks away, the explosion of "no!"s and "why?"s and "HOTGUY GET BACK HERE!"s blocked out by his mind.
And he walks up to his apartment, his mild haven here, and sees Pearl and Jimmy. He snaps his fingers, lifting Pearl's curse. She looks up in alarm, and Jimmy follows suit.
"We're leaving." Scar tells them, leaving no room for argument. "And we're not coming back.”

Modern Fantasy Monsters: The Workplace
Fae asking for two or even more weeks off because they know that time is different in the fae realm. They have to calculate the amount of time off that they have to the days where they can visit their family back home.  Fae: “Soo...I’m asking for two weeks off of the project.”  Human: “Really? Why? Two weeks seems pretty long.”  Fae: “Well, fae time is different than human time. I’m just telling you in advance if people start asking if I disappear for a few days.”
(The first isn’t my idea it was a comic dub that I listed to) Mimics being used as office chairs to “encourage” lazy workers to do their work. Also Mimics being great security guards since they can be used as living security cameras.
Elevators that are for larger species that can carry more weight than most elevators. (Industrial elevators?)
Doctor Vampires who know exactly what blood type a person needs or what kind of blood is in a pouch with a sniff.  Vampire: “Ah,  yes. You have an AB blood type.”  Human: “Really? You..uh.. didn’t get up to check.” Vampire: “Oh no, I could smell you’re blood from here. I can tell.”  Human: “Huhhhh...”
Dragons resting on the top of office buildings sunbathing. Sometimes they like to rest their tail against the glass windows.
Special workspaces for certain species:  -Spaces with water for Merfolk to work efficiently -Effective swivel desk so centaurs can sit comfortably (the same thing can be said for nagas so that their tail can be comfortable)
Magical compensation insurance: If you or a love one have been effected by a curse and or magic related accident you are entitled  to compensation.
Ungodly coffee combination that some workers share across the office to keep them awake. Though some combination are not safe for human consumption unless they have a strong stomach.
Vampires who stay overtime to work since they really don’t need to sleep. (Vampires have to be limited in the amount of overtime that they can do due to this little loophole. )

magical girl rwby discussion thread
@heliosthegriffin
people were complaining that the other thread was getting too long so I figured we can restart the discussion here. question do you have summer still alive in your au? i really think you should, it'll be a great way to distance yourself from cannon and the idea of a retired magical girl now being a full-grown woman is amusing to me.
like just the idea that she got a normal job after everything she went through is funny maybe have raven die in this au? have her be a previous magical girl who didn't make it, was taken down by a normal human and not even a grimm. hence why the girls have to keep their secret identities as criminals won't hesitate to try and take that power for their own.
also consider neo as an evil magical girl, or maybe a member of the fae, more on jaune's side of urban horror fantasy than rwby's magical girl anime but she refuses to fuck off so now jaune has her following him everywhere. because his suffering amuses her. maybe even have her be a threat to jaune in that she'll offer him power if he'll make a deal with her but jaune's hesitant to find out what she wants in exchange of course rwby doesn't know that jaune knows that neo is a fae and vice versa

Proud Author Spotlight
~*~
For WIP Week, I'd like to shout out my own fic. It's a crossover au that uses the setting of Changeling: the Lost, making it a story that's a dark fairytale urban fantasy about surviving abuse and building community with other abuse survivors. The story is currently in the first arc, building towards a first climax in a few chapters.
I am very proud of this story. I use second person to make emotions vivid and close to the reader. I use multiple perspectives to portray different voices and conflicting perspectives. The story is intense, full of hurt/comfort, loss and hope, and magic.
If We Keep Holding On, Just a Bit Longer

Summary: There is more than one world. There is the world we know: the Real, the Mortal Realm. Beyond it is Arcadia: the world of the True Fae, a world of dreams and nightmares. In the Real there are those who survived Arcadia and escaped. They live in hiding. They work together and struggle to trust one another. This is a story of their survival. No. This a story of your survival.

Angus McDonald and the Shop Teacher’s Secret
squeaking in under the wire for AU Roulette 2023! this was for the prompt "urban fantasy"
Angus was eight when he first read about changelings — in a book that he checked out from the library out of boredom, really. Boredom and disappointment, when he saw the new Caleb Cleveland wasn’t in yet. But what he read within, the descriptions of the fae children that swapped out for humans, well…
They were familiar. In a way that scared him at first, but over the years, began to excite him more and more — because maybe, just maybe, Angus could be like this for a reason.
Most obviously, he acts older than his age, and people notice, with some finding it unnerving. He can lie, but finds it so much easier to imply something false by omission. He’s mildly allergic to nickel, which isn’t quite the same as being repelled by cold iron, but that might just be a trait that varies among individual fae!
His parents are dead and his grandpa doesn’t remember enough to care for him anymore, so he has no one to ask stories about his birth, or early childhood — to ask if he acted more like a human, once — and he certainly does not remember every living in a faerie world, but the evidence is compelling nonetheless.
Most compelling of all — the thought that there might be more people out there who are like him. Who would like him, and actually treat him as one of their own.
And he’s starting to suspect, actually, that one of those people might be his middle school shop teacher.
(keep reading on ao3!)
