If you are a Jared or Sam fan please don’t read this. If you are a Jared or Sam fan and you leave a comment I will block you without reading it so don’t bother. The end of season 6 (ep 20, 21 and 22) seems like a turning point for Destiel to me. Maybe I’ve read too many gay fan fics but it just seems like their relationship changed in these eps. Like before this point they obviously had feelings for each other but they both thought it was a crush and they both thought it would go away. Then in these eps it feels like because of the storyline they both kinda accepted their own feeling but too afraid to say anything.
In The Man Who Would Be King (think that’s right) from the very beginning of the ep there was a difference in the boys.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
They were lying to each other and couldn’t even look each other in the eyes.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It looked like it was physically hurting Dean to lie to Cas and to even think that Cas was lying to him. He’s been lied to before usually by Sam and he gets pissed off but this isn’t a hurt by your brother look.
Tumblr media
If Cas is just a friend to both Dean and Sam why is it that Sam had no problem believing Cas could lie to them and go behind their backs (that to me isn’t even friend behaviour) yet Dean defended Cas. I find it funny that Cas and Dean think they are hiding their feelings yet Bobby and Sam had to question Dean to find out what he said to Cas so obviously they know what affect they have on each other and that it’s not just friendship.
“You’re distracted.” “I’m holding up my end.” “Yes but what else are you holding up. The stench of that impala is all over your over coat angel.” So Crowley thinks Cas and Dean are haveing sex in the car by the sounds of it. I just found this funny considering only a few eps before the angel told Dean Cas was in love with him.
The fact that Cas was loosing his mind yet he still had to protect Dean and yet again he protected Dean first before Bobby and Sam and there was a small pause before he said “my friend.” It was like he wasn’t sure what to call Dean. Even at the end when Dean called Cas his family I think it surprised him. As soon as Dean said family Cas looked shocked. I think sometimes in the season he thought Dean just called him because he needed help not for any other reason and then knowing Dean thinks of him as family really surprised him. I know Dean said Cas was like a brother to him but I think he just didn’t know how to express his feeling without actually saying the truth and that was the easiest thing to say.
The moment tho that for me it all changed was when Cas was in the oil fire. Dean told Cas to look his in the eyes. It sounded like I know Bobby and Sam are here too but how could you do this to me. I’m different from them.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
They both looked like they were trying not to cry. Both their eyes were glassy. Even Dean looking back at Cas before he left was emotional. He didn’t want to leave Cas in that fire. That whole scene to me was them admitting the truth to themselves.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In ep 21 I can’t believe how emotional this scene was. Like all Dean said was that Cas and Crowley can kiss his ass. Cas looks so hurt and scared and Dean has to actually put his hand up to his mouth to stop from crying.
I find it interesting that this is when they choose to get Lisa and Ben out of Deans life. I’m happy that they finally did it but it’s just interesting timeing. They could’ve done it at any point but no they chose to do it during this very Destiel episode.
Tumblr media
I’ve heard that whenever Cas dies (which I’ve also heard is quite a few times) Dean gets depressed and suicidal. I guess in The New Boss was the beginning of it. I’m pretty sure drinking that much alcohol and watching Asian cartoon porn is considered depressed.
When Cas went to the church and the homophobic priest was trying to tell the people how god hates gay people and Cas says “your wrong. I’m utterly indifferent to sexual orientation.” They didn’t have to have the priest talk about gay people but they did. Then Cas confirming his opinion on it.
Then when they were trying to get death to kill Cas (I’m not convinced Dean would’ve let him actually do that) when death said there was more then just souls in Cas Dean looks worried for Cas. If he was willing to let death kill him he wouldn’t have been so worried.
Every time in these eps that Cas came it was always to talk to Dean never to talk to Sam. He didn’t care what Sam thought he just wanted Dean to understand what he was doing. Even when he thought he was going to die he was trying to make up with Dean. Bobby was in the room and Sam was in the building but it was Dean he wanted to make up with and it was Dean he said he was going to redeem himself to. He f*cked over a lot of people but he didn’t say I’m going to redeem myself to everyone or even you guys (as in Dean, Bobby and Sam). It was just Dean.
Last thing I think this was the first time I ever seen Dean choosing to save someone other than Sam first. When Dean went to get Sam and seen the jar of blood on the floor he had no idea what happened to Sam. Any other time he would’ve went back to Bobby with the blood and told Bobby to handle it so he could go find Sam but this time he chose to stay and save Cas. Even when those monsters took over Cas body Dean told Bobby to go get Sam. By the sounds of it he is starting to put Cas ahead of Sam. I like that.

Today was the day that Ichigo came back from Japan. [your name] was excited but also nervous. She wasn't sure where she and Ichigo stood. From their kiss on Christmas to them spending time in her room just talking, and kissing more; what were they? She was hoping that he felt the same way she felt and that they could finally move forward.
She believed that they were ready to be in a relationship, and she was ready to be with him. The question real question lay within him, was he ready to be in a relationship? [your name] felt as if he was ready, but who was she to make the decision for him?
The nervousness took over her body as she stared at her phone, it was 3:30 in the afternoon. He should be here at any minute now, so she got up from her seat. It's not like she wasn't hard to miss, she was only two inches shorter than him. She fixed her pink puffer jacket and waved her head side to side, looking for Ichigo.
"[your name]?" his voice wasn't faint, she could tell he was close.
"Ichigo?" she shouted, walking to the sound of his voice.
"Yeah, I'm right," she felt herself stopping, and there he was. His index finger was on her forehead as he sighed.
"Talk about, 'yeah I'll be able to find you easily,'," he joked, causing her to roll her eyes.
"Whatever, you better hope I don't leave you here to get an uber or lyft," she huffed, crossing her arms. He couldn't help but chuckle as he followed her out of the airport and to her car.
He found the little attitude she had cute, the way her ponytail swayed side to side as she tried to out-walk him. Her hot pink puffer jacket and black jumpsuit fit her nicely. He'd catch her turning her head to the side to see if he was still laughing and he was, but only because this time she was the one that was annoyed.
The two made it to her car where he placed his suitcase and duffel bag in the trunk, before joining her in the passenger seat. Closing the door, he sighed and threw his head back a bit. The plane ride back wasn't helpful for him, the sleep he tried to get was limited. The seat was uncomfortable, and then he had a little kid kicking his seat. He would think that giving the little boy a death glare, he would stop.
"Lemme guess, the ride back wasn't it?" she snickered a bit, starting the car.
A sarcastic laugh left Ichigo's lips as he looked at her, "funny... because the brat was a bit stubborn like someone I know," he muttered the last part, causing her to stop the snickering.
"You actually suck..." she mumbled while he smiled, closing his eyes. Maybe he could take a peaceful nap before they arrived back at the dorm.
↳ ❝ [𝐅𝐋𝐘 𝐀𝐖𝐀𝐘 𝐖𝐈𝐓𝐇 𝐌𝐄] ¡! ❞
The two were back at his dorm, laid out on the carpet. [your name]'s head on top of Ichigo while love by Dean played through the speakers. He could fall asleep at any moment now, so what was stopping her from asking him the question that's been on her mind ever since he was gone.
"Hey..." [your name] trailed off, turning to look at Ichigo.
"Yes?" he let a yawn out, turning to look at her.
"Never mind," she sighed, quickly looking back at the ceiling.
"You sure?" he rubbed his eyes, letting another yawn out.
"Yeah, all this yawnin' got me tired, and you should prolly take a nap," she gave him a fake smile.
He slowly got up from the carpet, helping her up in the process. He tiredly climbed up his bed, grabbing [your name]. The bed felt soft to him, then again he was sleeping on a plane. It felt better once [your name] wrapped her arms around his waist, and he hoped she'd never let go.
Tonight, he had something planned for her. Something special, an early valentine's present. For now, he needed to rest before he left.
↳ ❝ [𝐅𝐋𝐘 𝐀𝐖𝐀𝐘 𝐖𝐈𝐓𝐇 𝐌𝐄] ¡! ❞
He was as quiet as a mouse, sneaking out of his dorm room. The first place he needed to go to was your favorite restaurant. He'd preorder your favorite meal for you two to eat tonight, and it was ready for pickup. He then stopped by the store and brought a picnic blanket with some lights, a basket, some fruits, and some drinks. She'd seem like a white wine type of girl, so he was hoping that white wine would be okay with her.
Everything was now brought, and he was at the park close by the dorm. There, he'd set everything up.
Now, it was time for him to go back to the dorm to pick her up.
[your name] on the other hand, had just waken up from her nap. She grabbed the sticky note that was on her forehead with a sigh before reading it. 'Meet me by the park near the dorms," is what the sticky note read.
Getting up with a slight sigh, she grabbed her sandals and a jacket before she left his dorm. The park wasn't that far from the dorm, so she should be able to be there in a good ten minutes.
As she walked up to the park, she saw the dim lights that were hung up on the tree and on the tent. There, sat Ichigo with the basket in his hand. 'There was no way that this was Ichigo,' she thought to herself.
"You made it," he sighed in relief, watching her sit down next to him.
"What is all of this?" she looked around her while he scratched the back of his neck.
There go his nerves once again, why the fuck was he nervous? Just say everything that you had planned out back in Japan.
"I know you were probably wondering where we stood after Christmas eve and day. So while I was away with my family, I had time to think of how I wanted to do this. So I thought, 'why not wait for Valentine's day or the day before,' to set up a nice small picnic. [your name], I really do like you. A lot actually, which is kind of wild for me to say. It's been a while since I've liked someone this much and very quickly, and I think I'm ready to be in a relationship with you. Only if you're down and ready? If you're not, I can wait," this is what she was waiting for.
"Of course!" she smiled, throwing her arms above his shoulders.
"I was waitin' for you to say somethin'," she added while he chuckled.

You were on the road with Dean. He was needed a few towns over, he was looking for a new place to open a new bar, and he had asked you to join him to check it out together.
Spending some alone time with him in his beloved car? Hell yes! If there was something you loved about your relationship with Dean was that his love language was touch. He always had to hand on you, it didn’t matter if it was holding your hand, having his hand on your knee, over your shoulders, or even just hugging you just because you weren’t close. And this trip wasn’t any different, but because Dean was driving, you had one of your hands on his knee.
Tumblr media
You were a teaser and you loved teasing Dean. You loved seeing him squirm under your touch because he couldn’t handle the effect you had on him.
You started to caress his thigh, moving your hand steadily up and down. His muscles instantly reacted. “What are you doing?” he asked keeping his eyes on the road, “nothing, just caressing you,” you said with a smile, a wicked smile.
He kept himself in silence, so you took it as an invitation to continue with your ministrations but you moved your body slightly. Now you were slightly facing him.
Dean moved his arm and put it across your seat, he thought you were going to lay down on his lap since you left the house pretty early. But instead of laying down, you lowered yourself and gave him a kiss on his crotch, where the head of his cock rested.
Dean sucked a breath, he knew you were just teasing him, but he couldn’t control the effect you had on him. “Don’t play with fire, sweetheart” he warned
Your response to his warning was unbuckling his belt and unzipping his pants, squeezing his cock once his pants were open.
Tumblr media
Dean seemed to struggle to keep his focus on the road, the problem was that you weren’t doing anything yet and still he was expecting your next move.
“Sweetheart,” he warned again but you ignored him, you lowered his underwear to remove his cock from its confinement. Slowly and gently you started to leave wet kisses on the head, your hand squeezing the rest of his shaft. You could feel how it hardened after every kiss you gave him.
You licked his shaft from the base to the tip, sucking the head a little, bobbing your head up and down his length.
Dean was enjoying it, the way he was gripping the wheel was an indication of it. He knew exactly what you were doing. He had trained you to give him exactly what he wanted, whenever he wanted.
Without rush, you started to suck him more and more, until the tip of his cock touched your throat making you gag; at this Dean slammed the breaks, “I’m sorry sweetheart, but if you keep going, I will crash the car.” he said cleaning a bit of saliva that was drooling from your chin.

Regarding how Supernatural sees and literally portrays its own fans: there are the cringy loser man (who also turn out to be gay which is of course even worse), the straight fetishizing women and the delusional queer fangirls. What I don't understand: where are the fans that Supernatural actually wants? The 'real' fans, the actual target group, so I suppose cool straight dude bros? They're never shown as fans of the show! Because how Supernatural portrays is, it's actually cringe to like Supernatural at all which is funnily just the show shitting on itself (and also true). Or what do you think?
I mean I think you hit the nail on the head, it’s cringe to like supernatural! specifically it’s cringe to like supernatural with a passion, which is funny because like, kripke’s original pitch mentions buffy, the x-files, star wars, properties with active fan communities who rooted for pairings and continue to write fic. it feels like those fans come with the territory! it’s genre fiction! but of course supernatural also came up at the perfect time for its writers to have a better awareness of their fan communities than most of the stuff that came before them, and, what’s more is they chose to do that. becky, demian, and barnes are all names of forum mods from back in the day. they’re mean-spirited caricatures, but they are also currency! in-text acknowledgment! that’s a powerful drug. how mad can you be that you’re getting made fun of for having no life outside a silly tv show that thinks you’re a loser when you’re now a character in that tv show!
it’s difficult to source who supernatural was technically supposed to be for, there’s no actual quote of kripke naming teenage white boys as his target audience, but I did dig up this bad boy from 2009 that suggests dawn ostroff (the cw’s president at the time) was not happy the property pitched as being for males ages 13-25 was instead attracting women 14-45. I mean, we know the first two seasons of supernatural were “the DVDs most requested by armed forces personnel in iraq and afghanistan,” so clearly on some level the “intended audience” was being reached, but it seems at least the perception on the inside was those poor boys were getting massively outflanked by women. there’s a couple levels to this. first of all, the show premiered on the wb. it’s not to say the network couldn’t attempt to attract new viewers (and this was probably part of the intent of the show), but teen soaps were in its dna. they had no way to STOP the women already tuning in for gilmore girls from keeping the tv on another hour. second, though the show is purportedly “about” topics that read as exclusive to men (cars, rock, violence), there’s an obvious appeal to people attracted to men in its casting choices and the way its shot. like jensen didn’t do that fucking titantic necklace ad because he’s the epitome of masculinity, he did it because he was an androgynous dicaprio-type cutie! sure, his look may have been aspirational to teenage boys wanting that same type of attention, but again, there’s no way to prevent women from getting it directly from the source! and for all the show claims to tell us about the single man tear stoicism of it all, dean cries like a little bitch. because he’s not the action hero, not at first! he’s a scared kid who was forced to grow up. and sam’s fucking dean from gilmore girls! he’s got the bangs and the goofy smile! these aren’t the guys the women watching wanted protecting them, they were guys they wanted to provide comfort. and the camera plays into it! as our good friend sheila o’malley puts it, jensen and jared “are objectified in a way usually reserved for female stars.” you can discuss this in terms of a male objectification fantasy, there’s a wonderful post out there equating the compromising positions sam and dean find themselves in on hunts to a sort of bodice-ripper erotic thrill in being taken control of, but that only provides more space for the comfort fantasy. and this is nothing to say of just being interested in the genre! that the attention of female fans is devalued and assumed to have less complexity than the relationship men have to their beloved works. which is CRAZY because lgbt fans and women in fandom are the entire reason supernatural even made it this far! yes, there are swaths of “regular” people at home who watched supernatural in a non-obsessive way, but they weren’t the reason the show saw a 27 percent increase in its audience over the ninth season. that’s passionate fans, and fan communities encouraging passionate fans of other things to join them. supernatural might not have explicitly wanted these fans, but they are the reason for its success at almost any stage of the show’s airing and, while they may have been creating fanwork outside the bounds of the text, their reasons for coming to the show were not invented. what gets me riled up about “fan fiction” is I enjoy 99% of it, the one thing I can’t stand being the suggestion that what the fans are doing is based on a reading of the show the text itself doesn’t support. the text supports it because YOU put it there! just like you put everything else there that already made the show appeal to people outside the “target” audience! all of which is to say. I don’t know who the fuck supernatural was meant for. I don’t really care except in the moments it illuminates something within the text for me or when this idea is wielded effectively in the “ring ring! eric!” type jabs on here. because the show had the audience it had! it didn’t have any other! it took all that fucking con money and continues to do so, I don’t think there’s any better metric than cold hard cash.

“Good morning, Ms. L/N.” Y/N’s annoyingly hot neighbor stepped into the elevator, barely making any eye-contact with her and looking like a Vogue model straight out of a magazine.
She wondered how many tailored suits he owned because not once had she seen him in the same suit which led her to think about whether he was that loaded. All of them looked expensive as hell and the black one he was wearing today might very well be a Burberry suit.
“Hey, Dean. Morning,” Y/N tried her best to sound cheery but the hangover wasn't letting her feel like it.
“It's kinda funny how we keep meeting in the elevator.” Straight out of hallmark movies, one might say. She adjusted her sunglasses, squinting to look at the man as another woman stepped into the elevator. Her eyes trailed down to the briefcase he had in his other hand, which was new considering she had never seen him carry one before.
Dean gave her a side eye, not wanting to encourage whatever pleasantry her hungover brain had come up with. All of a sudden, she remembered that she wasn't supposed to even meet Dean in the elevator. “Am I runnin’ late or are you just simply early?”
“I'm a bit early-” Dean started.
The woman in front of them exchanged a glance with them, giving them a bright smile before wishing them good morning as the door of the elevator opened. She stepped out, the other two occupants of the apartment mirroring her actions.
“Who can be that cheerful in the morning?” Y/N grumbled.
“Apparently Ms. Mills over there.” Dean chuckled, making her groan.
“And you know her, how?” She asked.
“Just like I knew you.” He replied nonchalantly.
“Oh yes, the 'stalking'.” She said, air quoting to put emphasis on the word as she walked right beside him when they approached the exit of the building. “Why don't you have a hangover anyways?”
“I have a high alcohol tolerance, unlike some people,” he said, smirking, “and I can't be hungover. I need to meet up with a client.”
“Guess I'll have to make a pitstop at Starbucks,” she said, “Have a good day, Dean.” Y/N made her way to the other side of the road, hoping to catch a cab. She saw the lawyer disappear into the parking lot and come out a few minutes later in a black Chevy. She admired the beauty of the car and the man in the driver's seat before both disappeared into the NYC traffic.
Tumblr media
“Really ‘The Judge’?” He grumbled.
“Ironic, isn't it?” She chirped mockingly at the annoyance of the man beside her. Y/N took a bite off the pizza she had ordered and looked at Dean only to notice his eyes focused on the screen in front of them, his eyebrows a bit furrowed.
Her cheeks warmed up, realising she had been staring at him for quite some time now and she swiftly averted her gaze. Swallowing the chunk of food in her mouth, she asked, “Have you ever faced any trouble from your clients?”
“All the time, Y/N-” he caught himself in the slip up and quickly corrected himself “-Ms L/N.” A smile graced her lips at the simple mistake but it quickly turned into a frown.
“Why'd you keep calling me Ms L/N? It makes me feel old.” She said, rolling her eyes at him.
“Just trying to maintain some boundaries.” He said.
“You're eating pizza, on my couch, with me, in my house while we watch a movie together and you're talking about boundaries? Unbelievable, Mr. Winchester...or should I call you ‘sir’?” Y/N retorted.
“Well some answers should be left well enough alone, behind a closed door.” Dean shrugged, making Y/N almost choke on her food. Her eyebrows shot up to her hairline at his brazen confession or rather casual remark about his bedroom activities. Talk about boundaries. Since the day they met, she had never seen him go out with a girl or bring one home. The walls were thin after all. “And I still can't believe how you roped me in for a movie night.”
Y/N was just really trying to extend an olive branch to him since he had tried to do the same two nights ago and what was better than a movie night for a little ‘get to know each other’ session. After all, pop culture choice could tell a lot of things about a person.
Clearing her throat, she said, “I still can't believe you don't like pineapple on pizza.” She mentally smacked herself for coming up with such a lame-ass icebreaker.
“No one likes pineapple on pizza.” He scoffed. “It's a crime.”
“Oh, do shut up.” There was a part of her that wanted to call him ‘sir’ at the very end of her sentence to test the waters, for reasons, but she decided against it.
What was she supposed to do with the information anyway? Her Adonis-like neighbor had casually hinted that he liked being called ‘sir’ in the bedroom...and how was that not supposed to conjure up any sort of images?
Why was it even bothering her so much?
Two weeks ago, Y/N was the one who hated his guts because of his dickish behaviour but she also was the one who lied to her colleagues about him being her boyfriend because she couldn't get him off her mind.
Dean huffed, almost like he was trying to control his laughter. “I thought you would be better at comebacks.” Tease.
“You're the lawyer, not me. I just write books or at least try to write.” She sighed.
“You write books? I thought you worked as a freelance writer for ‘All For You’.” He said.
“Uh no. Mr. I-stalked-you-and-I-know-everything,” she rolled her eyes, “I used to work as a freelancer. Now I have a stable job. Alcohol must've muddled your brain that night because I remember telling you all this stuff.”
“Please, I have an excellent memory and for the last time, I didn't stalk you. I just knew your name-”
“And my family history,” She told him, “The number of times I got a speeding ticket-”
“I don't know anything about your family but I do know you can't get a speeding ticket. You don't know how to drive.” He smirked.
“And here you are telling me, you didn't stalk me.” Y/N shrugged.
“That's not what I-never mind, let's just watch the movie.” Dean sighed.
“I thought you would be better at comebacks.” She threw back his exact words.
“You're ridiculous.” He shook his head, chuckling at her.
Tumblr media
“Dean, will you please, for fuck’s sake, listen to me for once?” The desperation in his younger brother’s voice drew Dean’s attention.
“Sam, it's still a no.” A groan was heard from the man over the phone. Dean could picture the eye-roll that he received from his brother whenever he said something Sam didn't like. “I'm not goin’ back to Lawrence.”
His jaw ticked as the grasp on his cell tightened, old memories resurfacing with the mention of his hometown.
“I'm not telling you to come back forever. It's only for a day!” Sam exclaimed. Dean heard shuffling in the background as the tiny voice of his niece greeted him. The corner of his lips tugged up, forming a smile as he stepped out of his office.
“Hey, babygirl!” Dean said, “You being good for your Dad?” He heard a high-pitched voice of agreement from the other side followed by his brother's laughter.
“Ava misses her uncle.” The younger Winchester said. Dean didn't know why Sam was so persistent about him visiting Lawrence when he very well knew the reason behind his aversion to the city.
“Sammy-”
“You're already ditching the 4th of July, man, and it's Ava’s birthday.” Dean noticed Sam was holding himself back from telling the entire truth as he quickly walked down the stairs and stepped out of his workplace. “I'll try to keep Dad in check.”
“Why are you so hellbent on wanting me back in Lawrence?” Dean asked, moving over to his black Chevy. He leaned against the door of the passenger's side, rubbing his temple. There was no way he would willingly face his old man again. Scoffing at the idea, he got inside his car. His hand clutched the steering wheel tightly when he asked, “What is it, Sam?”
“There's nothin’, alright.” Dean knew immediately something was up at his brother's defensive stance.
“Baby brother, I know you better than anyone. Speak up.” He said.
Sam hesitated, before he said, “Fine. It's about Eileen. She is….I am finally bringing her around and I want her to meet Ava and y’all. I just want you to be there….please.” It was a big step for him and Dean knew that.
After Jess’ death, he had watched his brother become only the broken shell of the man he once was. It took a long time for Sam to come to terms with his wife's death because it happened so suddenly - a ruptured brain aneurysm which had started with just a simple headache and before anyone could do anything about it, Sam had to say goodbye to his wife forever. When he met Eileen a few months ago, he never thought he would end up falling in love again. He wanted her to meet his somewhat dysfunctional family, Dean being the other most important person for him, right after Ava.
“So, you want me there to show your girlfriend how perfect the Winchester family is?”
“I want you to be there because I want you two to know each other. I'm serious about her… this. After Jess, I-” Sam swallowed heavily, “You saw me, Dean. You were only fucking person who made sure that Ava didn't lose her other parent to some drunk driving or alcohol poisoning. Moving past the grief was the hardest part for me and I couldn't have done that without you. So, I want you to meet Eileen who's gonna be someone important to me too.”
“I'll see if I can make it-” Dean sighed, “- but I swear if John Winchester even dares to breathe in my direction, I'm heading straight out of there.” Dean turned the ignition, making the person on the other end let out a dreadfully long sigh but still vouching to keep their Dad away from him.
Ending the call, Dean dropped his head softly onto the steering, muttering under his breath something along the lines of Sam owing him big time before he pulled out of the driveway.
Dean had sworn to never be in the same room as his Dad the day he drove out of Lawrence.
Lips pressed into a thin line, he quietly drove through the busy streets of NYC. His mind played all the times he had to raise his niece because her Dad was too distraught by grief to take care of her.
In the Winchester household, Sam was the golden boy, but Dean, not so much. So, it had been a tough time for him to see his brother spiral down that deep, dark hole. For a while, Dean had been terrified that if his brother didn't pull his act together, he could be legally declared unfit to be Ava’s parent and that would have utterly destroyed Sam.
He truly didn't want to be at Ava’s birthday party but he loved the little girl to death and it would break her heart if Dean didn't turn up to her party and he also had to meet Eileen.
“Make up your mind, Winchester.” He grumbled to himself as he stopped at a crossing. He put on the radio and shook his head when a Taylor Swift song started to play. His mind travelled back to the young woman living beside him, a lopsided smile forming on his face.
It was nice to have a friend.
Dean  took a left turn from the intersection when he spotted Y/N standing on the side of the road. She was looking down at her cell, a blue bag hanging from her side. He drove over to her side, pulling up right in front of her.
“Ms. L/N?” Rolling down the window, he craned his neck to look at her and asked, making the woman look up. It had been a few days since he last saw her.
“Dean!” Y/N was quite taken aback when she looked up to see her neighbor in the shiny four wheeler . She never expected to meet him here but thinking back, she remembered he had told her he worked somewhere around the corner. Small world. Even with the bare minimum knowledge she had about cars, she understood it was a classic car that he was driving. She let her eyes trail over the black car. “Nice wheels you got there, Dean.”
He gave her a shrug but the sparkle in his eyes gave away the fact he took pride in his car. Cocking an eyebrow, he asked, “What're you doing out here standing alone, Ms. L/N?”
“Oh, my work is just two blocks down and-” she raised her hand, her thumb pointing at the confectionery shop behind “-I was going to buy cupcakes from here before going home but the shop is closed, so kinda waitin’ for a cab or a bus.”
“I can drop you off. It's not like we live far from each other.” Dean smirked, making her smile. Surely, Y/N and Dean had come a long way since their first meet but she was genuinely taken aback by his niceties.
“I really don't wanna impose,” she said, “I'm sure I can get a cab from here.”
“Oh please, I insist. It isn’t gonna be any kind of trouble. Hop in.” He said, reaching over to open the door.
“Alright, then.” Y/N said but the moment she was going to step in, a voice in the distance pulled her back.
“Y/N!” Her colleague, Ruby, walked down the pavement towards her with a file in hand. “You left this behind.”
“Thanks, Roo.” Glancing at Dean, she started to walk away from the car, not wanting her to see the man inside, but it was of no avail.
“Damn, that's one sexy car. I know you can't drive so who's the guy?” She wiggled her eyebrows at her. “Oh please. Babe, you're gonna do some serious riding tonight, huh?”
“Ruby! It's nothing like that.” She shook her head. Dean stepped out of the car in the meantime, approaching the two women.
“Don’t be such a prude, Y/N.” Y/N’s eyes went wide when Ruby uttered those words as Dean came to stand beside her. She was already mortified at the thought of Dean meeting her fellow writer, and now, even more so. After seeing Ruby’s eyes lingering on him, she searched for any sign of mirth on his face. He was definitely not enjoying her shameless objectification. “So, you're takin’ my girl out tonight. I need to know more about you. What's your name, handsome?”
Y/N felt her face heat up at her friend’s poor attempt at flirting. All she wanted was for the earth to open up and swallow her whole or for a meteorite to crash into her, anything would be better than this embarrassment. “Ruby, shut-”
“I'm Dean.” The man beside her spoke up. His voice was firm, confirming her very suspicions that he clearly wasn't enjoying Ruby's bullshit. “And your name, gorgeous?” Y/N winced at his snark.
“No need to be rude, geez.” Ruby rolled her eyes at him. “I just asked for your name, De-....wait, hold up. You're Dean? Dean Winchester? As in Y/N’s boyfriend?”
Fuck.

The Dusk Calls for me: Jasper Hale x Fleur Swan, Chapter 12
Tumblr media
AUTHORS NOTES: None of the characters in Twilight belong to me. All rights go to Stephanie Meyer.
We’re heading into the Finale of book 1 folks... I have so many ideas for book 2... it’s going to be great. Hopefully!
“You get ready, you get all dressed up
To go nowhere in particular Back to work or the coffee shop Doesn't matter 'cause it's enough To be young and in love.”
Love by, Lana Del Rey
Bella was finally going to meet the Cullens officially. All day before I had left to go down there she paced, looking like she was going to be sick. All of the Cullens were cooking Italian for Bella. The only person who I was worried about was Rosalie. She was furious at Edward for even dating her, and when he went public with her... it set her over the edge. Emmett was chopping up lettuce and other vegetables for her while Rosalie begrudgingly held a bowl for him to put it in. I was sitting in the living room with Jasper, he was concentrated on reading some books. It was always entertaining to watch vampires read so quickly.
“Is she even Italian?” Rosalie asked.
“Her name is Bella, Rose... she has to be.” Emmett replied.
“Emmett... you thought I was french just because my name is Fleur. That food was really good though... not like I am complaining. I said.
“Okay I admit I messed up there but, I have to be right about this one.”
“Whatever you say Em.”
“Shut it short-stack.”
“At least I don’t hit my head through small doorways.”
He glared at me jokingly and then rolled his eyes.
“Rose, tell her to stop bullying me.”
“I’m sorry I can’t do that... it’s too funny to listen to.” Rosalie said.
“Ugh, I feel betrayed.” Emmett said, his hands going toward his un-beating heart.”
Rosalie smiled, it was soon dropped though. She must’ve kept thinking about Bella.
“She better eat this.”
“Don’t want to sound gluttonous here but... I was totally eat if she doesn’t.... it’s her lose.”
“Stop trying to make me laugh.”
“I will never stop my attempts to make you laugh.”
“Woo, get a whiff of that, here comes the human!” Rosalie said in a sing-songy voice.
Esme smiled widely, she quickly wiped her hands before making her way over to Bella.
“Bella, we’re making Italiano for you.”
“Bella, this is my Esme my mother for all intents and purposes.”
Emmett raised his hand and waved at Bella with a knife in it. Bella and Esme exchanged a bit of Italian.
“Hello again Bella, hope you’re well.” Jasper said.
“Hey, Jasper... hope you’re well too.”
“You’ve given us an excuse to use the kitchen again. We usual make meals for your sister when she stays over.” Carlisle said.
“I hope you’re hungry.” Esme added.
I could see a nervous look on Bella’s face, I probably should’ve told her they would cook for her.
“Y-yeah absolutely.”
“She already ate.” Edward said, a tinge of attitude in his voice.
Rosalie stood there, anger was all of her face. She smashed the bowl she was holding in her hand.
“Pull back Edward, you’re throwing her to the wolves!” I thought.
“Damn Rose... remind me not to piss you off again.” I said.
She had to bite down a smile.
“Perfect...” She said.
“It’s just because... I know you guys don’t eat. I didn’t want to put you into any trouble.”
“Of course, that is very considerate of you.” Esme comforted.
“Just ignore Rosalie, I do.” Edward said.
“Yeah, let’s just keep pretending that this isn’t dangerous for all of us.”
“Look, I would never tell anybody about you guys... Besides, Fleur knows and you trust her.”
“It’s because I pick up a good energy from her... I know I can trust her with anything I tell her. She’s not a backstabber, she’s told me some of the stuff you’ve done. I’m sorry but, it made me sick the way you use to treat her. I hated seeing how upset she got telling the things you and your mother said to her”
My eyes widened before looking down at my legs... maybe me being here just reminded them of some of the things I told them. I wasn’t being much help to Bella right now. Jasper sensing my nerves rising, calmed them down. My uncomfortable mood slowly simmering down.
“Rosalie, stop... don’t worry Bella, she knows you wouldn’t say anything about us to anyone.” Carlisle said.
“Well, the problem not is, you two have gone public now so...”
“Emmett.” Esme interrupted.”
“No, she should know. The entire family could get implicated if this ends badly.”
“Badly, as in... I would become the meal.”
All of the Cullens in the house except for Rosalie and Esme started to laugh. I heard a few thumps before I saw Alice and Dean enter the room.
“Hi, Bella... I’m Alice.” Alice jogged toward Bella, giving her a hug.
“Hi.”
“Gosh, you do smell good.”
“Alice what’re you.”
“Don’t worry... Bella and I are going to be great friends.”
Dean looked like he was struggling to say something. I could tell he was uncomfortable to be around Bella right now.
“It-it’s a p-pleasure to meet you.” He said.
“Don’t mind Dean, he and Jasper are our newest vegetarians.”
“It’s okay Dean, you won’t hurt her.”
The expression on Edward’s face made me want to laugh.
“Okay well, I’m going to show her around the house.”
“Okay.” Bella mumbled.
“I’ll see you soon.” Alice said.
“Okay.” Bella said again.
“So cute!” Esme gushed.
“I know!” Alice said in agreement.
“I think that went well.” Carlisle added.
“Rose, clean this up... now.” Esme said.
I leaned back into the couch, sinking into it. Jasper put his arm around my shoulder. “What an interesting visit.” I thought to myself.
Another day came and went by, Bella and I were on our way to the diner. It had been so long since I had been down there. I was in the passengers seat of her truck. I thought since we were going to the same place, we should probably drive in the same vehicle... During out drive she started talking about how Edward had been watching her sleep for months.
“Are you serious Bella? That’s kinda creepy.”
“I’m sure you have Jasper in your room with you at night.”
“Yeah but, he always asks me before he goes in there. We plan stuff like that out... He should be coming later tonight actually.”
“Okay... you have a point there.”
When we arrived at the diner and got out of the truck Mike approached us...
“Hey, you and Cullen huh? I don’t like it... I mean he looked at you like you’re something to eat.”
Bella and I looked at each other and smirked... he had no idea how correct he was in that statement. We walked past him and entered the dinner, dad was already waiting for us.
“Hey I hope you two don’t mind I ordered food for you guys already. I got you Bells a Spinach Salad and I got you a burger Fleur.”
“Yeah that sounds good.” I said.
“Good picks dad. Even though, you should get a salad like me next time... cut back the steak.” Bella said.
“Hey, I’m as healthy as a horse.”
"Hey , Chief, the boys want to know... did you find anything by Queets river today?"  The waitress asked.
"Yeah, we found a bare human footprint... but it looks like whoever it is is headed east... the Kisap County Sheriff is gonna take over from here."
"Okay, I hope whoever it is... they get them fast." The waitress then walked away, a group of men started talking within there group.
I turned around hearing something outside, Mike was doing something to a poor bush outside. I nudged Bella, trying to get her attention.
“Hey, someone’s flagging you outside.”
“It seems that Newton boys got a big smile for you.” Dad added.
Bella looked, and then turned back around, her face looked horrified.
“You can join them if you want.” I said smirking.
“Shut up you jerk... Mike is a good buddy though.” She said back.
Dad face flushed slightly... as if what he was going to say next was embarrassing.
“W-what about any other of the yahoo’s in town?”
“Dad... we aren’t going to talk about boys are we?” Bella said, her face starting to turn red too.”
“I guess not... with you at least.... How is everything going with you and Jasper, Fleur?”
I looked up confused, how did conversation about Bella’s relationships get turn into one about mine.
“It’s going well.”
“Good, I noticed you’ve been spending a lot more time with him lately. That car ride you took was a long one.”
“Oh yeah we drove out for a while... we looked at the stars... it was really nice. He told me I seemed stress and just decided to take me somewhere.” I said, I looked down at my hands while smiling.
Dad seeing this smiled too.
“I always liked that boy, you got yourself I good one.”
“I know I do.” I said finally looking up at him.
“I was only bringing up boys with you Bella because... I feel like I leave you alone too much.”
“I don’t mind being alone dad, I’m like you in that way.”
“Yeah, I guess so.”
Timeskip: Later that night.
I was in my room, thinking about what dad had said earlier... He found a bare human footprint in the woods. Could it of been the same footprint of the woman who’s body I seemed to be suck in during my dreams? Or could it of been someone else entirely? The wind from my open window got harsher for a second, I then heard a familiar soft thud on my floor. I turned my head, locking my eyes with his.
“What’s going on in that head of yours love?” Jasper asked
“Just thinking of something my dad said earlier...”
“What is it?”
“My dad said he found a bare human footprint down at Queets river today... He said it was heading east. Have you guys found anything yet?”
“No, we haven’t found anything, it’s starting to get frustrating. Have you had anymore dreams about those vampires?”
“Nope... if it is them though, I have a feeling that print was just a trap to throw them off course.”
“I do too... hey, my family and I plan on playing baseball tomorrow, since Edward is inviting Bella... I thought you could come too.”
“Yes, I would love too, watching Emmett climb and crash into things is my favorite part of the game. That and all those tricks you do with the bat.”
“It’s a plan then, I’ll pick you up tomorrow.”
“Sounds good.” I pecked his lips before getting comfortable in my bed, I was still a human... I needed some sleep. I laid there, Jasper behind me holding close.
“Tomorrow is going to be a fun day.” I thought to myself, before drifting off to sleep.

Spoilers for Season 15x20 finale
Summary: This is a semi-rewrite of episode 15x20...
Pairing: Dean x reader (reader is treated more like an OC than a typical reader)
Word Count: 2,000ish
Warnings: language, major 15x20 spoilers
A/N: I wrote this for myself honestly. I know it is idealistic and was never going to happen. Again, I’m sharing simply if you’re interested but please feel free to ignore. This picks up from a very obvious point in the episode...
______
Dean POV
“Fuck,” said Dean, his hand over his chest. Something big was stabbing into his back. This felt wrong though. A dull, achy pain trickled up and down his spine and across his chest. His heart was racing up and slowing down when it wanted and Dean shut his eyes as he recognized the feeling in his bones.
He was dying. The kind of dying a doctor can’t fix.
“Jack!” shouted Sam, Dean peeling open his eyes as he realized Sam was besides him, hand covered in blood. A few seconds later Jack appeared in front of them eating a bar of nougat. “Jack fix him. Please.”
“He said he was hands off,” said Dean with a wince, his whole body shaking. Jack cocked his head and walked over, touching Dean’s forehead. The next thing he knew, Dean was sat on the ground and taking a deep breath, the pain gone as he looked up. “You said you were hands off.”
“You’re my dads. Why wouldn’t I help you?” he asked, a confused look on his face. Dean chuckled and nodded, still holding onto his chest. “You seem upset. I’ll pop you guys home.”
“Kid there’s-”
“Those boys are okay,” said Jack, snapping his fingers. Dean was suddenly sat on the steps up into the library, Jack mentioning something about taking some nougat from the pantry before he headed out.
“You alright?” asked Sam. Dean shook his head and he took a seat. Dean rubbed the heel of his palm against his chest and shuddered. “Jack got there in time.”
“If he hadn’t-”
“Dean-”
“If he hadn’t...because it was bad, Sammy. If he hadn’t...I’m so proud of you and I love you, so fucking much. I couldn’t have asked for a better baby brother, a better best friend. You just gotta tell me something. When the time comes, you’ll be okay without me. Tell me Sam. Please.”
“I’ll be okay,” said Sam quietly. Dean nodded and moved his hand to his lap, Sam scooting closer. “Let’s get out of here.”
“What?”
“Let’s get a house. We can get a big yard for Miracle. Run an operation like Bobby did, do the occasional case. Let’s go live more,” said Sam. Dean paused but rubbed his chest again and smiled.
“Dibs on the master bedroom,” said Dean. Sam chuckled and nodded. “Yeah. This place is home but I wouldn’t mind an upgrade.”
Two Months Later
“Miracle!” called Dean when he ignored the ball Dean had just thrown across the yard and ran around the corner of the house. “Miracle!”
“I think your daddy’s looking for you,” Dean heard a voice giggle. He walked around the house and saw a woman knelt down and ruffling the dog. “You’re so cute. You’re so cute.”
“Yes, I am,” smirked Dean as the woman popped her head up. “So, how can I help you and why are you parked in my driveway?”
“I’m Y/N. Y/N-”
“I heard of you. Hunter out of Alaska right?” he asked as she nodded. “You work a lot of Canada cases.”
“I did,” she said with a shrug. “I was thinking of retiring down south. Wondering if you got any tips on how to adjust.”
“A dog helps,” he said and she smiled, Dean looking her up and down. “You do realize this is Austin, Texas right?”
“This is south to me,” she said. “I know Donna through a friend of a friend. She said it’d be cool if I came and talked to you?”
“Uh, yeah, sure,” said Dean, Miracle running over to the ball and rushing back with it. He nudged Dean’s hand and Y/N smiled. “You mind chatting while we do some fetch?”
“Not at all, Winchester.”
“Kinda funny how Eileen and Y/N know each other,” said Sam, Dean looking out the back window to where the girls and Miracle were sat on the back deck after dinner drinking a beer. Dean hummed and dried a plate, Sam nudging his arm. “You like her, don’t you.”
“You like her.”
“Dean.”
“Yeah, I like her. What’s the big deal?”
“Oh, I don’t know. A gorgeous, former hunter with your kind of humor, love for pie, muscle cars and classic rock that’s single just happens to have stuck around long after she got done talking to you.”
“I invited her to dinner.”
“She understands the life Dean. All the shit we carry. You’ve never tried with a hunter. Give her a chance.”
“Tried what?” said Dean, putting the plate in the cupboard.
“You can have a relationship Dean. I’m pretty sure she likes you too,” said Sam.
“Hello, Dean,” said Castiel, both guys jumping as they spun around. They stared at the angel as Cas looked around. “I enjoy your home. The air is fragrant.”
“It’s a candle,” said Sam, pointing to the flickering light on the countertop. He blew it out and Dean walked around the island, shaking his head.
“Where the fuck have you been?” said Dean, giving Cas a hug. Sam joined them and Castiel shrugged.
“Rebuilding heaven is labor intensive process,” said Cas before turning to Dean. “I felt you would be coming there soon a few months ago.”
“Why didn’t you pop down when you knew he was dying?” asked Sam.
“You are humans,” said Cas with a pout. “You will die someday. It’s an inevitable fact. Time is very strange in heaven in its relation to earth. I assumed you were an old man.”
“No, not old,” said Dean.
“Would you two like for me to prevent your deaths until a certain age?” asked Cas.
“No,” they both said, Dean smiling.
“But if we ask for help, you will help?” asked Dean.
“Always,” said Castiel. He tilted his head and looked out the back window. “Who is the woman with Eileen?”
“Y/N. Hunter from the Yukon area. Dean has a crush,” said Sam. He smirked when Dean whacked his arm, Cas still cocking his head. “You know her?”
“She’s quite drawn to Dean. Metaphysically speaking.”
“Yes cause whatever you just said was very clear. Like I’m five Cas,” said Dean. Cas sighed and pursed his lips.
“Jack has given me some extra power to help assist him better. I can see more of a person now,” said Cas. “Their energy, soul, things of that nature.”
“Okay...so what does that mean?” asked Dean.
“Oh your souls are quite intertwined. She’s your soulmate,” said Cas.
“Really?” said Dean, allowing a brief smile to cross his face.
“She also has a growing inoperable mass in her head that will kill her in the next few years. She suffers from headaches quite frequently,” said Cas. Dean sat down at the counter and stared out the back door, squeezing his eyes shut.
“Why can’t I be happy?” he breathed out. “For a fucking minute I can’t even be happy before the rug gets pulled out.”
“...Did you not want me to heal her?” asked Cas. Dean rolled his eyes and Cas’ glowed blue for a moment. “She’s fine now. You seem...emotional.”
“Well I am Cas,” said Dean.
“You’ve been off since that hunt and the barn,” said Sam.
“Sam I shouldn’t be alive,” said Dean. “I got lucky.”
“You have sacrificed your entire life for others, Dean,” said Cas, Sam taking a seat next to Dean. “You should take advantage of your powerful friends. Let others care for you now. I will speak to Jack about the remaining monsters and their relocation to somewhere better suited for them, perhaps a new world.”
“Everything alright?” asked Y/N, slipping in through the back door with an empty beer bottle.
“Yeah, we’re all good,” said Sam.
“Liar,” she said, smiling at Dean. “I’ll be right back.”
She excused herself to the bathroom, Sam and Cas going outside. Dean got another set of beers out just in time for Y/N to return.
“Can I ask you a question?” she said.
“Shoot,” said Dean, handing her the drink.
“Your friend, the angel, did he just heal me? I’ve had constant headaches for awhile now. Brain tumor. I feel different. You guys wouldn’t happen to have anything to do with that would you?”
“You deserve to enjoy your retirement,” he said. “A very long retirement. You’re fine now.”
“I won’t be mad about that,” she said, leaning against the counter by him. She took a long sip and smiled. “I like you, Dean.”
“I like you,” he said.
“I’m gonna stick around town for a bit, see if things work out,” she said. He nodded and smiled, watching her smirk. “So there’s really no more monsters?”
“Uh, what?”
“I overheard Castiel when I walked in. Guess we’re really out of jobs now,” you said.
“I got an offer for a construction manager,” he said.
“You gonna take it?” she asked.
“I think so. What do you think?” he asked.
“I think it’s a great idea,” she said. “Gotta keep busy somehow.”
“What’s your retirement look like?” he asked. She shrugged and smiled. “Now that death isn’t imminent.”
“Maybe I’ll find a guy, try the domestic thing,” she said, a soft smile staying on her lips. “Know anyone who might be interested?”
“I’m sure I can think of someone, sweetheart.”
One Year Later
“So what do you think?” asked Sam as he spun around in his suit in the family room.
“What do we think junior?” asked Dean, the baby on his lap clapping his hands. “He says dad’s gonna score tonight.”
“I fear for you teaching my son things when he’s a teenager,” chuckled Sam.
“That’s what Uncles are for,” said Dean as Y/N got up from the couch and started fixing Sam’s tie.
“And what Aunt’s are for to rein them in,” she said, smoothing it out.
“Thank you,” said Sam. “Hey, when you two gonna have a kid?”
“Who says we aren’t?” smirked Dean. Sam went wide eyed and she rolled hers.
“We’re trying just recently. You will literally be the first to know once we do,” she said. She winked and Sam narrowed his eyes, looking back and forth between them then down to her stomach.
“You’re so pregnant.”
“Ugh, we were gonna surprise you guys. Let us surprise, Eileen at least,” she said.
“You guys are pregnant!” said Eileen from over the balcony upstairs. Y/N laughed and headed up, Sam taking a seat next to Dean and plucking his son into his arms.
“You’re gonna be a real good dad. You got a lot of practice,” said Sam. Dean shrugged and Sam gave him a side hug. “I’m really happy he gets to know his Uncle, Dean. You’re gonna do great.”
“I’m really happy I get to be here too,” said Dean. He sat back and shut his eyes. “I owe you one.”
“For what?”
“The barn. I thought Jack wouldn’t come. I didn’t even bother. I thought that was gonna be it,” said Dean. “I didn’t want to go yet.”
“You don’t owe me for that,” said Sam, handing the baby back when he heard feet on the stairs. “Be good for Uncle Dean, baby boy.”
“Go have fun on your date, Sammy,” said Dean.
“You have fun on your stay at home date,” chuckled Sam. “See ya later, De.”
“Later, Sammy.”

hey again mandy!! i was wondering if you could rec some fluffy destiel fics? just your favorite ones if you’ve got some, either fluffy or angsty! i’d love to add some diversity to my bookmark list ☺️💕
Ooohh yeah! You sent this right as an anon sent the same request :3
Anon: I have seen your answer to an anon and now I want you to do a list of your favorite destiel fics please!! I just need to read fluffy fics but I also want some that have very good plot and also good portray of the characters but with a happy ending i can’t stomach more sadness. Thanks!! By the way for these who haven’t read it I want to recommend a very good fic call I don’t care where you been.
So I’m not too big on angst, like yes I do love angst, it can be good for the plot/character development/etc, but sometimes too much angst is well, too much for me to handle lol. Fluff is my bread and butter when it comes to not only writing, but reading. It can do me no harm, besides making my cheeks hurt from smiling so dang much!
So here is my list of fluffy, plotty, longfics! These are pretty old, because I haven’t been in the market for any destiel longfic in the recent years, besides oneshots and a few WIPs here and there. (i’m still neck deep into the stucky dumpster lol) 6 canon fics and 6 AU’s :D
CANON
Professional Couple Only by saltyfeathers (Fake/Pretend Relationship) - There's a haunted apartment building in Vermont, and the ad says "Professional couple only". Dean and Cas rise to the occasion.
The Silence Between Heartbeats by yesmsmoran (elliedew) (2x20 AU) -  "Fic that replaces Carmen with Cas. And then, when Dean wakes up and he meets Cas for the first time he freaks out because it's the only man he's ever loved and he's so confused as to how he can be real when he obviously had to be something the djinn created."
i wanna see your animal side by microcomets (Animal Transformation) - Dean gets attached to a dark-haired, blue-eyed kitten. He hates cats, so he can't really say why.
Just To Make You See by youaresunlight (Mutual Pining) - “I’ve been reading,” Cas explains, lifting his coat to reach for something inside. It’s another magazine but not one about nature or economics. It’s a GQ with a suave male celebrity gracing the cover. “There’s an article in here that gives advice to those who are ‘seeking to escape the friend zone.’”
And I Will Walk On Water by tracy_loo_who (Post-S4) - This fic is set after season 4 and totals ~122,600 words. It's a story about friendship and love, recovery and trust, free will, and Dean and Castiel's journey through it all. It's also about chocolate and hugs. If you read it, I really hope you enjoy it. ♥
Broadway Musical by Griftings (HILLARIOUS GO READ IT) - This is the day that marked the Holy and Blessed Union of Dean Winchester and Jo Harvelle. The merging of prominent bloodlines is always a grand occurrence, but breeding pedigree hunter families like Winchester and Harvelle is something to be rejoiced. It is also something to be meticulously planned, which thankfully the Host is very good at.Or, the romantic comedy where Dean Winchester and Jo Harvelle are destined to get married, Castiel is given the task of playing matchmaker and fails terribly, the entire Heavenly Host becomes a sitcom audience, God warns against male pregnancy, and Jimmy Novak is incredibly unimpressed with angels in general.
AU
a world above water by museaway (Fairy Tale AU) - Castiel’s hope for freedom is threatened by a chance encounter with the Crowned Prince of Lawrence, who is trying to avoid an arranged marriage
To Find a Family by linasane (Kid Fic, Domestic) - When Dean's little brother gets taken away, he's expecting the fight that ensues. He's expecting the stress that comes from separation, expecting to do all he can to get Sammy back from whatever awful foster family he's been placed with. He's not expecting Castiel Novak. (Castiel, in turn, isn't expecting his first foster child - five years old and angry - to be the one that leads him to the family he's always wanted, but life has a funny way of working itself out).
Shorten the Distance by GhostGarrison (Online/Long Distance Relationship) - "Nerdytr3nchcoat" and "Impala67" weren't looking for romance on the dating website called 'dateangels.com'. Castiel was looking for friends and Dean was just looking to get his nagging brother off his back. What they didn't expect to find was each other. [a long distance, online relationship fic]
Cooking with Gas by WinJennster (Food Network/Chef!Cas) - Castiel Novak has it all. He's rich, famous, has a top rated cooking show and restaurant, drives an expensive car and wears Armani. His producer throws a contest to spend a day with Chef Novak, cooking and learning techniques. Castiel wants no part of it, but Balthazar insists and Castiel will do as expected. What Castiel wasn't expecting was to fall head over heels for the winner. Dean Winchester hasn't had a successful relationship in his 34 years on Earth. He's got a past he'd like to keep hidden, and his life rotates around his family and his business. Winning a contest to spend a day with his favorite TV chef is a shock, but a welcome diversion from his day to day life...until he meets the guy, and he turns out to be a big jerk. Dean figures he should have expected that. What he wasn't expecting was that same gorgeous blue-eyed man to sweep in and shake up his entire world.
Life In Pink by youaresunlight (Kid Fic - SO FLUFF) - At just 33 years old, Dean Winchester is one of the most sought-after wedding planners in the city. He’s chased his dream ever since he was a kid and is now on the brink of making partner at his firm. But the wedding that’ll make or break his promotion? Is his best friend Dr. Castiel Novak’s. It’s going to be the event of the season - unlimited budget, no expense spared - and it’s the kind of task that Dean has been waiting for… except he’s hopelessly in love with Cas.
Kiss the Baker by Ltleflrt (Bakery AU) - Jo is pregnant and craving something a little bit unusual. When she sends Dean on a mission to find her some chocolate cake donuts with bacon sprinkles, he's sure that he'll fail. Luckily his partner Benny comes to his rescue and introduces him to a quirky little bakery that sells all kinds of weird (and delicious!) baked goods. And they do special orders!Dean finds excuses to keep going back, and Castiel finds excuses to keep giving him special treats.
And I believe this is the fic Anon was referring to: don't care where you've been by thanks_tacos (A/B/O) Dean's life is finally changing. After years of enduring Alastair's abuse, the alpha dies and Dean's married off to the next alpha the system pairs him with - Castiel. The man is strange and distant, but not exactly bad, and Dean's determined to be on his best behavior and not mess up the chance he was given. Soon enough, though, he fucks up anyway and has to call the alpha for help.Castiel's lived his entire life without an omega by his side, and he was fine with that. He doesn't know how to proceed once he's suddenly married to a beautiful man who's obviously been through a lot. Omegas were always a confusing subject to him, so he tries not to interfere much - neither of them is there by their choice. But when Dean calls for help, he understands he's going to have to set some things straight and engage more.

I apparently have a few more things I need to say about the 13.06 writer’s draft-- and the reminder that this was a VERY early draft, from TWO MONTHS before the final shooting script was finished.
I hope everyone has had a chance to actually read this entire script, and to understand how very much the story of this episode changed in rewrites. The Big Themes of this episode shifted so much since this draft (where Athena had no personal ambitions of going into SFX makeup for herself, and her primary dilemma was her relationship with Dave versus her obligation to care for her infirm father, where Dean ended up killing Dave in the final shootout rather than the complex fight scene we saw ended up playing out with Sarge pulling the trigger instead, where Sam was the one giving the idiot lines about cold spots and such to Athena in the first interview scene instead of Jack...).
I think one of the biggest changes was the tone of Dean and Cas’s interactions. The ENTIRE scene in the car with the Tombstone conversation became so much more intimate than the group scene we have in this draft. It changes the entire context of that scene, and makes it unintrpretable as anything other than an intimate and personal exchange between Dean and Cas. This wasn’t an “acting choice,” but the entire script being reworked into that scene we eventually did see.
Because the THEMES of the episode shifted to imply only the romantic read.
And yes, we can all laugh at the humor of the “if we can afford” Stayin’ Alive for the “getting out of the car scene,” but read what Davy actually wrote implying what Dean’s strut was supposed to look like in the context of that music. It wasn’t the confident swagger that we saw in that final draft, but more a comical caricature of an old west cowboy-- like... all it need to complete the look was Dean sticking a bit of prairie grass in his mouth and spitting as he came to a stop. Like... think 6.18 Dean when he first arrived in Sunrise before getting taken down all the pegs by his lived experience there and making himself into a more authentic Old West Cowboy in response to that.
Because the funny thing is, if the scene had been supposed to work with Stayin’ Alive, the show would’ve paid for Stayin’ Alive there. They DID pay for the rights to use it in 14.06, in a scene MUCH more thematically suited to it. It was for a humorous beat letting us know that this character in that scene was about to die, because he believed he was a “woman’s man” about to get some... lol
The show didn’t change the music to Space Cowboy because they couldn’t afford Stayin’ Alive, but because it was the thematically wrong choice for the scene as it eventually was rewritten.
Yes, it’s fun to headcanon whatever based on this-- again-- VERY early writer’s draft, but taken as a whole, I am so grateful to the editing process on this one. 13.06 would’ve been more about Family Feels and far less about romantic feels if they’d actually gone to production with this draft. And again, I’m encouraging everyone to actually read the whole thing, and not just the few scenes that I’ve seen circulating on tumblr.

I said this before somewhere else but I find it funny that Stands’ use of the “driver picks the music” moment just showcases how much weaker the relationship is between Dean and Cass compared to Dean and Sam. Sam is with Dean almost all the time, he doesn’t need a mixtape of Dean’s favorite Zeppelin songs because he already knows them, from spending much of his time with Dean, listening to Dean’s tapes, in the car. Sam knows more about Dean than Cass ever will because he is closer to Dean (1of2)
than Cass is and will ever be. So, sorry Stands, you tried but you inadvertently proved that bibros and wincest fans have nothing to complain about, Destiel shippers are the ones who have to attach significance to things like a favorite songs mixtape to exaggerate Cass’s “relationship” with Dean. (2 of 2)
---------------------------------------------------------------
Yes, and that ‘mixtape’ was used by Castiel as a Trojan Horse to gain access to Dean’s room to steal the Colt. We have legitimate objects of affection between Sam and Dean, like the Samulet, and they have to cling to an object of deceit, a casual gift to improve Cas’ music tastes that he defiled with dishonesty and duplicity because that’s all they’ve got. XD

@spnwomenweek DAY 5 - NEW SCHOOL
The sign that heralded "Singer Auto and Body" has been knocked down for a while. So have the remains of the old house that burned down something like ten or so years ago. Jody said the owner had no next of kin, he was an old friend of hers named Bobby. Claire thought it's funny, when she first moved here a lifetime ago, barely an adult, she was called "Bobby 2.0". Maybe it was the same guy. She wondered what he must've been like, living among all these cars and... A massive cache of weapons in a cellar that hadn't been destroyed. With a devil's trap and walls of iron coated in salt. A hunter.
Gran didn't have much of an estate, and with Amelia being missing for ten or so years without financial activity, Dad being missing, because Cas finally made his own fake ID instead of using Jimmy's, and whatever odd jobs Claire and Kaia worked between hunts (and a small loan from Jody)... She'd managed to scrounge up enough to get a house built.
It was Kaia's idea, really. For obvious reasons, she never had the stomach for hunting. She had to do enough to survive while she was gone. She deserved her own place. The Mills' place. Novaks? Winchesters? Hanscums? They were still workshopping their last name. Yes, they've been married for almost five years. Whatever. If you're a hunter, what's on paper is a lie. That's something she'd come to know for a long time. Reality is what's in the dark, what's on the centuries old rare books or weird chat rooms with no credibility, and most importantly, what's in your heart.
Claire Novak is 28 and she has a wife and a house. An accomplishment, for a gen z kid. They have a table full of phones, neatly labeled, FBI, CIA, USFWS, BLM, Texas Rangers, and, when she's feeling fancy and has to work up north, RCMP.
Kaia's the one who answers them. Not just for her, but in the manner of both sets of Claire's adoptive parents, they ran into some hunters along the way, too. A lot are older than her, but Claire's been hunting since she was 18 and running from demons since she was 12. There's a grudging respect for seniority among hunters. Especially when you're the ones with a laminator in the office where the blade of one of the most elite of Heaven's warriors hangs over their head. Along with a smug reminder that she was 18 when she earned it.
There's a kid a couple years younger than her. Ben Braeden. Total rookie, but good heart. Stupidest aliases ever, though. And, of course, she hears from the old crew every so often.
Claire and Kaia are still close with Jody and Donna. Of course they are. Claire even attempts to make dinner for them once in a while. Kaia is definitely the cook in the relationship after she confused the cayenne pepper for the paprika, though. And, well, they're old enough that the mantle of "protector of Sioux Falls" has definitely been passed to the Mills-Hanscum-Winchester-Novaks. Cas and Dean have also decided that since Jack is ten now (God, Claire's getting old), he's allowed to just run around the house when they need a weekend off and Sam and Eileen are off traveling to Europe to find more lore or whatever." Kaia once again asks if they can go to Europe. Claire once again asks if she's okay spending weeks at sea with her because there's no way in hell she's flying. And there's that look between Dean and Cas. Ugh, she really is turning into her parents. Jesse and Cesar are retired. In Mexico. Plus, she only really knows them via the even smaller network in the hunter network of young gay hunters. So, it's really a shock when they show up at their door with presents.
"Uh, I think you're a few months early for Christmas," Kaia laughs as she brings them inside.
"It's five years, isn't it?" Jesse asks his husband.
"Yeah, Claire. Your blog post says it's five years."
Claire raises an eyebrow. "Okay, now you have me curious. I haven't touched that thing in months."
Kaia swears under her breath and laughs. "Ugh, trust the guy with the obsession with cicada monsters to remember dates." Kaia leans up a little and pecks Claire's lips. "Since I got out."
"Oh." Claire and Kaia both try to forget about it, about losing two years of their relationship to Kaia's other self and her spear.
"Plus, we have about eight years of presents from nice old ladies in town to regift."
"Ugh, I hate you," Claire says lightly. "My baby brother is God, you know. He can and will turn you into chickens."

THOUGHTS ON GILMORE GIRLS:
i have so much to say y’all regarding gilmore girls. I LOVE this show. i have a very tension filled hatred for some parts but most of all LOVE.
after watching seven whole seasons of these girls lives, i have to say i truly understand the complexities of these characters. we’re not even gonna get into the years of a our lives thing, no this is about the freaking original. god, the amount of shit that rory did, lorelai did, chris did, luke did, emily and richard, I MEANNNN god it’s a lot
1. Rory.
gosh this girl was so frustratingly annoying. a perfect gem and pearl in the first year, and then later she becomes a nuisance. but what i truly see is her finally getting out of that naivety/handholding/dewy eyed phase and onto things like being a teen. this girl really stole a boat and got it on her record and what i hated about the show is that they never bring it up again. like that def affected her getting into places bUT NOOOOO. they wanna paint her out as some saint. i think the only sympathy i have to her behavior is that she was growing into who she was. i thought thank goodness Jess screamed at the girl to go back to yale because Logan wasn’t gonna do it!! gosh the whole relationships this girls gone thru, ruining deans marriage, cheating on logan with jess and making jess sad, going back to logan again and again after he treated her like crap? like NO honey that’s toxicityyyyyy. anyways she was annoying but at the end i love her.
2. lorelai.
I LOVE THIS WOMAN. no matter how many times she screwed up i could never stop loving this woman. does this mean i have bias ? YES. sorry y’all. i just related so much to these two. the dynamic of a single mom and her kid spoke so much to me and my mom. but also i am not like lor and rory, i’m more like lor and emily. i have the same mommy issues, caffeine addiction, and a incessant need to ramble on about god knows what. i do not have the sexy, charming wit she has, but i do think i’m funny and i talk a lot (i mean look at this long ass text post) BUT she’s just so beautiful and wonderful. she went thru so much for rory and made her into the kid she is today and just was so understanding. i wish she gave emily grace but at the end like i truly get why she was always so frustrated. there were times where she was excessive but damn it i get her. i love her and luke. why tf did jason happen. also the chris marriage so nasty, but all in all she deserves love and to be cherished.
3. luke
this man holds my heart gosh damn it, i love him. i don’t know why april came into his life, maybe to add some spice. i think he never would’ve forgotten to wear a condom lowkey he’s so responsible. but hey, whatever the show includes. i think he handled that part so well tho , and only fighting for partial custody , i truly loved that. he didn’t wanna make it a big thing cause he knows that april needs her mom, but i thought it was rude that Anna (ew), someone who knew Luke’s character, and knows what kind of guy he is, would not tell him he had a kid. and then expects him not wanna be a dad? like he is the ultimate “i wanna make sure everything’s done right on my end, i’ll always do what i think is right” type of guy. he did that with jess i mean come on. i love his anger about things cause it reminds me of my own dad, and like i wish there was more complexity to him, but i think he repetitive nature suited him. he had a lot of chaos in his life and tranquility in the small things in life like routine and filling the salt shakers really helped him feel grounded and have a sense of control. i love him, the most caring dude in the world, and i would want him on my side in a war.
4. dean
we gotta start somewhere for rory’s boyfriends. i think he was a good first boyfriend, treated her right, but goSH DAMN IT HE WAS SO FUCKING ANNOYING LATER ON. see i even started watching gilmore girls cause jared padalecki was in it, and i was so awestruck by it cause of the characters but DAMN if a character could be even more annoying. dean was not into the things rory was into and they had no spark, but they had comfortability and it was sweet and he helped lorelai out a lot and treated her good, but he legit was so clingy and all that shit later on. and like he wasn’t even trying wiyh life with her in it either and it just frustrated me. he messed up a marriage for her, it’s so wrong man. like ugh.
5. jess
if i could hug someone i would hug him omg. he looks like he smells like those manly colognes, books, and hair products but the fruit scented kind like coconuts and berries that he’s embarrassed to tell you about. gosh he is such a character. i love him so much and he went thru so much as a kid and i wish he never had that scene of pressuring rory cause that was a HUGE ick but all in all, he just had to go to therapy and know he could make it big. i wish they input his story more and that whole outfit at the poetry house thing was vomit, the hair and goatee made me choke i was like this aint you bby boy, but alas they had to make him look like those 2000 poet guys (i mean it was in the 2000’s but i digress) it just wasn’t his leather jacket and jeans look i missed. he was the one who understood rory in all her creative mess. he was the one to spark up that drive for yale again and told her to pursue whatever she wanted (granted i didn’t like how he showed up at her dorm and was like let’s run away together) but he was there for her in the ways he could. he had so much trauma tho that i think it was best they let go of each other and i think if they found each other again later and pursued it it would be beautiful.
6. logan.
i hated him at first yall. i’m so sorry i really did. he was a player, immature, immoral, and annoyingly right about things. rory did not need his influence. they stole a boat together, he wanted her to be out of her comfort zone yes but damn to what extreme? i think after he matured up, it was so beautiful tho. i hate to admit it but i love him now. he grew on me, he truly started caring for rory in a responsible way, he started working, he started realizing he could lose rory, and in the end it was sad she didn’t accept but he took it like a champ. i think he was so ready for it cause he loved her but he couldn’t have expected her to drop all her career options and just go with him to san francisco. i think he should’ve known her well enough but i also get why he didn’t wanna do long distance. i think he connected with her very well. in the way that pointed out her ICKS she never knew she had. she also was a trust fund baby with a rich family and is at Yale and doesn’t have to work through college. i hated that she never acknowledged that and thought she was some fucking hard worker. like yes you study a lot ma’am but you don’t work you’re not someone who knows what it’s like to worry about rent the next day. like damn she had a mom and she had her pool house shit and i also think it was so ungrateful the way she acted towards emily and richard. like they did so much shit for her and she took it for granted. yes they can be extreme but rory needs to be nicer. she is literally another pompous kid who attended an ivy league and she acted so high and mighty in that article ugh. anyways logan was able to show her that hey you have flaws too don’t think you’re perfect but also showed her her TRUE potential. he wanted her on a newspaper and wanted her things to excel and was there with her every step of the way. paid for an apartment, dor a car, and i feel she never really acknowledged that. it was frustrating. but he was frustrating in ways too with the bridesmaid things and the player things and the gambling with Colin and Finn (why did they exist) and yeah. but anyways 9/10
7. christopher hayden.
can i say i fully loathe this man? HATE. i despISE this man. the amount of times he messed up? the amount of times he broke rory and lorelai’s heart?? TOO MANY. he’s a dumb dad and he acts stupid with GG too and i stand by it and sherry is a bitch but damn oh damn did chris get himself in shit. lorelai was ready to marry him and be with him and he went to sherry. SHERRY DIDNT EVEN WANT THE KID. well she did and then it came by and she didn’t and then she left and that was confusing asf. cause she was over here talking rory’s ear off about chris and kids she was the most annoying character ever. hated her . BUT I HATE CHRIS MORE. then lorelai dated luke and pushed her and expected her to be with him and it to be fine. no. and thank god they split but damn the hurt lorelai went thru? it’s embarrassing when luke is the one at the hospital for lor’s dad instead of the husband. anyways it was stupud of him to always try. and then like mess it up between him and rory and act like a dad when he was barely there for her, but either way i’m happy he paid for yale and he’s out of their lives as much as he was in it.
8. emily.
EMILY MY LOVE. you are so stubborn and so conceited but damn do you love your family to the moon and back. this woman was a wife through and through and i have so much respect for her and it’s so weird because i’d never want that for me and it’s so traditional but she’s such a caring woman. only for her blood tho it’s so funny the way she could care less about those around her. um, i hate the rich things ya know the “status, and being poised” thibg but i have to realize it’s becaus of how she was raised and what she was taught was correct. i think lorelai never deserved that uobringing but i think emily tried her best in what she knew. and she tried to be better and wanted to be included in rory and lorelai’s life. even if she was always annoyed by lorelai’s jokes, she knew that was their dynamic and i loved that lorelai agreed to friday night dinners even after rory left it meant so much to her. and i love emily. she loves lorelai so much in her weird and twisted way, she does. that girl would kill for lorelai. i’d move mountains for this woman
9. richard
i needed time to get used to him at the beginning of the season but later on i found that i loved him too. the loving at first about the rory cryibg about yale thing was cute cause it was his first “i’m your grandpa i’d do anything and spoil you silly” event he ever experienced but it was so intense and i totally understood why he coddled her. i wish he didn’t cause it caused all the problems but it was necessary to see his love for her was strong.
they had to find ways in connecting in the beginning with the golf and the hat and books and all that but rory and richard were so close and i love that man. at the end, he saw no use in fighting with lorelai and even laughed at her jokes and was a mediator between emily and lor and the heart attack def did shit to him for him to say he knew lorelai was adored because she turned out to be a great person and that’s why the town loved her, it wa all so cute. i think at the end of the seasons we grow to love richard and emily so much so that we forget all the bad things they did.
kirk.
100000/10 he’s amazing i never would give him up.
enough daid, this show is great i love the complexities and i love the dynamic, the jokes, (some are problematic like the body shaming, r word, culture stereotyping, and sexuality jokes) i think that it was a great show focused on plot. i hated the first episode of the life thing the spin off i forget what it’s called, but you know. they made a lot of “spanish i don’t speak spanish” jokes and there’s barely still any diversity in the cast, and the jokes are so bad like they’re trying to be accepting of the lgbtq+ community but they made jokes so many times in season 7 that it can’t be ignored and like the amount of times they are so stereotypical to the asian community like “rory’s trip to asia”? like that whole episode was so rude with the hello kitty sign, but like idk
it’s a complicated show, i loved it and hated it, i have a love relationship with it that includes such tension it’s toxic. like i’m even hispanic and the whole bit of them not knowing soanish nor thinking they can learn a bit (idk as a inn owner maybe pick up a language/trade?) is not even that effecting to me cause i know them as characters on the show and the girls we grew to love are not like that at all. idk it’s so weird. idk y’all. anyways i finsihed it thank goodness now someone pls recommend new shows :))))

Love of my Life - (8) Decapitation is usually a cure-all
Summary: Sam, Dean and Y/N travel to Idaho to help out a friend.
Warnings: Show level violence.
A/N: I'm trying my hardest to get the chapters I already have written published quickly. I have a final coming up that I'll have to take a few days to study for before I can get back to this story.
Series Masterlist
Tumblr media
You were the first to wake in the morning, probably because you slept on a couch made of bricks. You stood up and stretched your sore back, looking over at the boys sleeping soundly and feeling a pang of jealousy at their comfort. Grabbing your bag, you quietly went into the bathroom and closed the door then started up the shower. By the time you were cleaned up and ready, the boys were awake and shoving clothes into their bags.
“Mornin’ sunshine.” Dean beamed at you.
“Hey yourself. You guys ready to go?”
“Almost.” Sam grumbled and rubbed his hands over his face. “I dibs the bathroom next.” He grabbed a small black toiletry bag and yawned as he shut the door behind him.
Dean was wearing a dark green henley and you couldn’t help but stare at the man as his muscles bugled through the thin fabric while he packed his things.
Don’t fall for Dean Winchester, you idiot!
“So, who’s the hunter we’re helping out? Maybe I know him.” Dean looked over to you and zipped up his bag, tossing it by the door.
“You know Mitch Miller?” You neatly folded your pajamas and placed them in your duffel.
Dean thought for a moment before answering. “The name sounds kind of familiar, but I can’t place him. Maybe I’ll remember him once I see him. Any details on what’s going on?” He walked over and sat on the couch where you were packing.
“Nothing so far, he just said he couldn’t figure out what he was dealing with and would fill me in on the rest when we got there.” You could feel Dean’s eyes on you and met his gaze, feeling your stomach flutter when he smiled softly at you. As you finished gathering your things and pulled your bag over your shoulder, you felt a tug that jerked you backwards. Dean had pulled your bag from your grasp, leaving you dangerously close to him.
“Why don’t you let me take your bag to the car?” Dean insisted, just inches away from you.
“You don’t need to.”
“I want to.” He spoke gently as his eyes traced your lips then looked up to meet your gaze. Were you really about to do something as stupid as kissing the man that people had warned you about? Both of you stood silent for a moment before Dean slowly leaned down, almost touching his lips to yours before the bathroom door slammed open and pulled you two apart.
“Let’s get out of here, there were four spiders in the shower.” Sam complained as he shook his hair dry and tossed his bag by the door with Dean’s. “You riding with us or driving, Y/N?”
“Driving, I guess.” You looked at Dean with a longing glance which he returned. Maybe it was for the best that you don’t explore that avenue of a relationship with this well-known womanizer, but all you could think about was kissing him.
The drive was short, and you made good time following Dean in the impala. The man had a lead foot. Mitch had asked you to meet him at his motel room, and you pulled into the parking lot in the early afternoon.
“So, some guy wants you to meet him at his motel room, and that doesn’t sound sketchy to you?” Dean questioned as you stepped out of your car.
“Oh, no, I’m actually meeting my bookie here. You guys want to wait in the car for like five minutes?” You rolled your eyes. The frown on Dean’s face was quickly followed by an amused smirk. He appreciated when a girl was fluent in sarcasm.
“You know what I mean. I don’t trust this guy yet.”
“Do you trust me?”
Dean seemed surprised by your question but was quick to answer. “Yes.”
“Then come on.” You nodded towards the motel and Dean followed, draping his arm around your shoulder.
The two of you followed Sam to room seventeen and knocked. Mitch answered with a smile. “Y/N!” He looked at the two brothers standing behind you and his smile turned into a questioning frown.
“Hey, Mitch. Do you know Sam and Dean Winchester?” You pointed to the boys.
“I’ve heard of them. Never met before though.” Mitch hesitated for a moment as he saw Dean’s hand placed protectively on your shoulder. “Come on in.” He stepped aside and you entered first, followed closely by Dean and then Sam.
“So, what do you have?” You asked as you looked at the newspaper clippings and maps that were hung on the wall.
“Three women dead. Each of them drowned in their sleep, nowhere near any kind of water.”
“What the hell?” Sam muttered as he read through a case file.
“Witch?” You and Dean say at the same time, exchanging a proud glance.
“I didn’t find any kind of hex bags.” Mitch countered.
“Not all witches use hex bags.” Dean argued, glaring at Mitch. You couldn’t help but notice the crusty looks exchanged between the two.
“Get this,” Sam spread some pictures out on the bed, “all the victims have the same pictures in their house.” He pointed out identical pictures in the background of each crime scene, just hidden enough that the average eye wouldn’t find it.
“Good catch. Let’s figure out who that is and go from there.” You suggested and the three boys nodded.
“I’ll hit the internet.” Sam declared as he sat down at the desk and pulled out his laptop.
“We’ll go back to the crime scenes one more time. See if we can get a closer look at those pictures?” Dean suggested. Mitch nodded and they headed for the door. Dean paused when he saw you hesitate. “You coming, Y/N?”
“Nah, I’ll stay behind and help Sam. We don’t need three of us looking at a picture.” Dean sent a betrayed look your way when he realized he would be partnered up with Mitch. You sent a snarky smirk back his way. Mitch huffed as he opened the door and stomped out.
“Play nice.” You instructed Dean with a wink.
“You owe me one!” He pointed in your direction sternly, but the light in his eyes told you he was just playing around.
You pulled out your laptop and sat across from Sam.
“You know, you could have gone with Dean.” Sam looked up from his screen.
“I know, but what do you think Dean would have hated more? Staying behind and helping you with research or going out alone with Mitch? Those two have some kind of seriously misplaced testosterone battle going on.”
Sam chuckled and answered with confidence, “Definitely going with Mitch.”
“That’s what I thought! He was getting too comfortable around me anyway. I gotta keep him on his toes somehow.” You shrugged and sent a playful grin Sam’s way. He gave you an approving nod, knowing full well that he had found an ally to mess with Dean when the opportunity presented itself.
An hour had gone by when you found something that sparked your interest.
“Sam, check this out.” He leaned back in his chair, listening intently as you read. “Known throughout Africa and the African Atlantic, Mami Wata embodies the spirit of water. Much like the ocean, she can be volatile and dangerous. She brings good financial fortune and also governs water sprites.” You scrolled down the page and stopped on a picture that looked identical to the ones from the crime scenes. You spun your computer around to show Sam.
“Good work, Y/N. That’s gotta be record time. Sounds like it could be our mystery monster. I’ll call Dean and let him know.”
You pulled out your phone and called Bobby for any info he might have on how to kill the thing. He told you he’d do some looking. You and Sam continued your research for a few more hours when the grumble of his stomach interrupted your reading.
“Come on,” you shut your computer, “let’s go find some food. We can take our stuff with us and keep looking but I have to get out of this creepy motel room.” You looked around, referring to the wallpaper that you were sure had been in at least a few horror movies.
“Agreed. I’m starving.”
There was a cute mom and pop restaurant down the street from the motel where you and Sam decided to set up shop. You sent Dean a quick text letting him know to meet you there when they were done. You ordered drinks and some appetizers to hold you over until the other two joined you. You were flipping through a book about African culture that you checked out of the library and Sam was still online, both of you searching for a way to kill this water spirit.
“Hey, Y/N,” Sam began, “I just wanna say thanks.” You shot him a confused look. “We’ve have had a rough time lately between Dad dying and Dean going to hell and coming back. It’s really taken a toll on him, but he’s been different since we met you. The past few days, he’s the almost fun Dean that he used to be.” He shut his computer and sat it on the bench next to him. “I know you’ve probably heard stories about him being a lady’s man and normally I’d be telling girls to run for the hills, but he’s smitten with you. I can see it in the way he looks at you and talks about you.” The waitress brought the drinks and onion rings over and Sam paused.
“Sam Winchester, are you being a wing man for your brother?” You joked as you took a bite.
“I guess I am. Which I never thought I would ever do.” Sam raised his eyebrows in surprise. “But I mean it when I say that he’s different with you. It might take him a little while to admit it, but he’s a better person when you’re around.” Sam took a big drink before adding, “Plus, I think he’s a little scared of you, so I doubt he’d try any kind of funny business.”
You couldn’t help but smile at Sam’s honesty. You should be focused on the case but your mind was on Dean. It was rare that you ever felt so at ease with someone so quickly. Although you had never known what a true home felt like, you imagined the comfort that you felt with him was as close as you’d ever get.
You spent the next while talking with Sam about himself and how he had tried a different path at Stanford. You were genuinely intrigued to know about college. Maybe in a different life you would have gone, and you soaked up every word he told you about a life so foreign to yours. Dean and Mitch arrived soon after. Dean was clearly annoyed and walked a few paces ahead as Mitch babbled on about something. Dean plopped down next to you and put his arm on the back of the booth. You instinctively scooted closer to him.
“How’d it go, boys?” You asked and slid the basket of onion rings closer to them. It was obvious the two hadn’t cleared any of the ridiculous tension between them. Neither answered and Mitch glared at Dean who had a mouthful and was looking out the window.
“I’m going to the bathroom.” Mitch grumbled.
You waited until he was out of sight, then you and Sam both turned to Dean with judgmental faces. He slowly caught on and looked between the two of you, midchew.
“What?” Dean tried to play innocent.
“Why is Mitch so pissed?” Sam interrogated.
“Because he’s a baby? Why the hell would I know?” Dean answered straight. Sam rolled his eyes.
“Well, did you find anything at the crime scenes?” You looked up into his eyes, realizing you missed him more than you should have for him being gone just a few hours. Dean pulled out a coin with a water serpent on it and set it down on the table.
“Found these behind each picture on the wall along with a photograph of the victims.”
“Great, so we know who this thing is after next?” You were happy to catch a break seeing as there was only one person left in the photo who hadn’t been killed. “Maybe we set a trap?”
“We gotta move fast though. Someone has died every night and it’s almost six already.” Sam added.
“We still don’t know why she’s here, either.” Dean interjected as he finished off the appetizers. “Let’s order. I can’t hunt on an empty stomach.” He grabbed the menu and waived the waiter over.
That night, the team had gone over to the next victim’s house on the list. She was clearly scared and easily believed you when you told her what was happening. She explained that she and the other four victims were in water aerobics together and had read online that if you summon her with those weird coins and enslave this Mami Wata, that she would make you rich. So, they did. Idiots. But soon after, the water spirit became angry at being held captive and turned on them. Lucky for you, Bobby came in clutch and had found that stabbing it in the heart with a blade forged with African ore would kill it. Unluckily for you, you had nothing like that and no chance of finding something like it this late at night. So, you would have to try and make do. It was a stupid plan, but the only one you had.
You instructed the woman to lay on her bed like she was going to sleep, while you, Sam, Dean and Mitch hid, waiting for her to show up. You had an arrangement of weapons, hoping something would work. Hours passed, and it was getting late. You felt your eyelids began to droop, but a sudden clang from the bathroom woke you right up. You were in the closet and peaked though the crack to see water overflowing from the tub and into the bedroom, soaking the carpet. You waited a few moments more to see a horrific serpent woman crawling from the bathroom, slowly slithering her way towards her next victim, leaving a trail of slime in her path. You couldn't help but subconsciously pull a disgusted face.
Mitch was the first to jump out from his hiding place just outside the door. Mami Wata quickly tuned her head and held her arm out, throwing him across the room, his body going limp as he surely was knocked unconscious. Sam and Dean were next. Dean shot at the monster while Sam stabbed her with a silver blade. Both taking a toll, but neither doing much damage to her. She stood up tall on her tail and threw Dean up against the wall, holding him by his neck. You sprang into action, using a long blade to chop her head off. Her body stayed writing for a few moments, but eventually stopped.
Dean rubbed his neck and caught his breath. “How’d you know that would work?”
You gave an innocent shrug. “I didn’t. Decapitation is usually a cure all.”
“We should burn the body just to be safe, Sam added.” You and Dean nodded in agreement.
You pulled Mitch from his unconscious state and after the woman you had saved thanked you profusely, you left with the body in your trunk, finding a remote location to burn it. It was almost eight in the morning by the time you were finished and were pulling into town, heading back to the motel. You went and got a room for you, Sam and Dean and all four of you went to go sleep off the post-hunt exhaustion.
Sam was the first to pass out. He hadn’t gotten very dirty and was sprawled out diagonally, face down across the mattress. You and Dean both had blood stains and slime on your clothes. He let you use the shower first, then took a quick one when you were done. You pulled on a comfortable t-shirt and some shorts, then began to set up your bed on the couch. Dean grabbed your hand and stopped you from laying a blanket down.
“Nope, you need to actually sleep. Come on.” He pulled the blanket from the couch, wrapped it around you and led you over to the bed. “You can share with me.”
“Are you asking me to sleep with you?” You asked in an accusing tone of voice and kept a serious face before slowly letting it turn to a small laugh. Dean turned bright red and swallowed hard. It was fun to mess with him. You laid next to him and he pulled you close.
“Thanks for saving me. Again.” Dean whispered in your ear. You turned to face him.
“I’m not going to let some creepy ass mermaid kill you. That’s not a very ‘blaze-of-glory’ way to go out.”
“What makes you think that’s how I want to go out?”
“Sam told me when we were talking earlier.”
Dean smiled and kissed you on the forehead. “Get some sleep, Y/N/N.”
Little did you know, Dean wasn’t planning on going out in a blaze of glory at all anymore. He was planning on retiring with you by his side, holding you close just like he was now. You drifted off to sleep to the sound of Dean’s steady breathing. For the first time since you could remember, you slept peacefully without waking up in a cold sweat from nightmares. You knew you had someone there to protect you. Someone who you fully trusted, and someone who made you feel like you belonged.

Dean awoke to his phone buzzing on the nightstand next to him. He squinted against the morning sun filtering into the room. He could feel that it was still early but he carefully reached for his phone nonetheless. Much like the day before, Cas was practically entangled with Dean. Today he was pressed against Dean's back, with their legs intertwined. Cas' arm was resting over Dean's waist. It all felt very possessive. That thought sent a thrill through Dean. Cas has always seemed like a possessive bastard but knowing he felt possessive over Dean unlocked a lot of complicated feelings that made Dean nearly blush.
The phone buzzed again, and Dean reached for it, careful not to move so much as to jostle Cas. He managed to reach it with his fingertips and dragged it to the edge until he could grab it. Dean unplugged it and saw he had a few texts from Sam.
'I found a potential lead last night at the staff happy hour. Call me tonight and I can fill you in after I finish some research.'
'Don't forget about your dinner reservation tonight at 7. Go to the main lodge and they'll direct you.'
Just as Dean was starting to type out a response, one last message came through. 'Hope you lovebirds are enjoying your honeymoon. Make sure you use protection' followed by a bunch of heart and kissy face emojis.
Dean rolled his eyes and typed out a bitchy response but ultimately assured Sam he'd call him before their dinner reservation. After sending the message, Dean glanced at the clock and saw it wasn't even eight. If they got up now, they may even make it to breakfast in time for the cinnamon rolls Jake and Amy raved about.
"Cas, wake up," Dean half-whispered, shaking him. Cas remained unmoved and fast asleep. "Cas." He said more urgently this time. "Get up." Still no movement. Dean tried a new tactic and shook him a little harder.
Cas frowned and rolled away from Dean, grumbling to himself but still fast asleep. His hair was sticking in different directions and his shirt was bunched up, revealing a tan expanse of skin on his lower back. Dean poked him a few more times but Cas was unmoving and snoring lightly.
Dean rolled his eyes and decided to just get the damn cinnamon rolls himself. He wasn't going to miss out because Cas is a grumpy bastard in the morning. To soften the blow of attempting to wake him before 9, Dean started a pot of coffee in the cabin's kitchen for Cas to enjoy when he awoke. Then he threw on his jacket, grabbed his keys, and was off towards the lodge.
Sure enough, Jake and Amy were correct -- this was the perfect time to grab breakfast. There were few couples and families milling around, otherwise most of the tables were empty and there was no line at the buffet. Dean grabbed two to-go boxes and filled them with eggs and bacon for himself, pancakes and syrup packets for Cas, and of course a few of the large mouthwatering cinnamon rolls set up by the coffee station. He was attempting to close the lid on the full box when he made eye contact with Amy.
"I see you took our advice to get the cinnamon rolls," She smiled and grabbed one for herself.
"You two made them sound so good, how could we resist?" Dean flashed her a victorious smile as the lid gave in and finally shut. "Besides, Cas has a total sweet tooth, there's no way we would ever leave without him trying them."
"Yeah, Jake is the same way. If it were up to him, he would have pure sugar for breakfast. Before we started dating, he would have mountain dew and twizzlers for breakfast."
Dean wrinkled his nose. "That sounds like a college student's wet dream."
Amy threw her head back and laughed. "Precisely! I'm going to use that. The man is in his thirties, sometimes I think he even forgets that." She shook her head, a wistful smile forming on her face. "He wanted to have a candy buffet at our wedding. It took forever to talk him down from that idea."
"A candy bar sounds awesome," Dean pointed out. He paused and looked at her expression. "Oh God -- you don't mean as dessert, do you?"
"No, he wanted that for the dinner buffet!"
Dean laughed loudly. "That's something Cas would do. If we had a wedding -- I mean, a large wedding -- I'm sure he would have preferred if we just serve peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for dinner. They're his favorite."
"That's actually adorable. And it would make for a cheap reception dinner."
Dean nodded in agreement as he poured coffee in a to-go cup in case the cabin coffee isn't up to Cas' standards. "Careful, if he were to hear that, he would totally hold that against me and be all pissy we didn't actually do that. Then I would have no choice but to tell Jake his candy-dinner-buffet is genius."
"Okay, okay truce! I won't say anything about the sandwiches." She responded, laughing.
Dean returned her smile. "Good thinking. You wouldn't want twizzlers and mountain dew as your wedding dinner."  He grabbed the to-go boxes and coffee carrier, carefully balancing them in his arms. "Well, I better bring this back to Cas before the cinnamon rolls cool down. I know he'd want to experience them in their warm and gooey glory."
"Of course, enjoy! Tell him I say hi and that's it -- nothing else at all relating to sandwiches." She winked.
Dean playfully rolled his eyes and slowly made his way back to the car, without catching sight of Sam. Probably for the better anyway, he'd likely make some kind of dick comment about bringing Cas breakfast in bed. Which -- okay, may be true. But that's only because Cas refused to wake up this morning and he didn't want to miss out on the famous cinnamon rolls. And sure, if he was with Sam, he wouldn't have brought him anything back and would have just said "you snooze, you lose, Sammy. You can eat oatmeal and yogurt like the rest of the late sleepers."  But that was part of being the older brother -- you get free reign to be a dick sometimes.
And! Cas is his fake husband! This is totally something a married couple would do for each other, Dean reasoned. So it's not weird or a romantic gesture. And okay, maybe there was a moment last night after they went sledding down the hill. At least, to him it felt like there was a moment where he wanted to kiss Cas and Cas -- well, it seemed like Cas wanted that, too. Or maybe it was just part of the case. There's really no way to know, except y'know, talking about it. But that sounded about as appealing as eating one of Sam's "nutrient rich" meals, whatever the hell those consisted of. All Dean knew was that it was mostly of veggies and no meat, so he didn't want any part in it.
Regardless, Dean wasn't going to be the one to bring it up. If he was imagining something between them, he'd never be able to recover from the embarrassment. Besides, he didn't want to ruin their friendship. For the first time, Cas has agreed to stay with them, and Dean refuses to do or say anything that would make Cas uncomfortable, thus driving him out of the bunker and away from Dean. Not for the first time in the last few days, he bitterly wished he knew what was going on in Cas' head.
By the time Dean returned to the cabin, Cas was sitting up in bed, blurry eyed with a frown etched on his face.
"Good morning, sunshine!" Dean chirped, setting the food down on the bed.
"Do I smell coffee?" Cas grunted.
"Sure do. I put a pot on and brought you a cup from the lodge. Here you go," He handed over the cardboard cup and settled next to him on the bed. Cas' frown eased as he began gulping down the coffee. "I tried waking you so we could get cinnamon rolls, but you were not having it."
"Sorry," Cas said sheepishly. "I don't even remember."
"You and your damn sleep," Dean muttered, opening the cartons of food. "Good thing you have a really thoughtful husband who ventures out into the frozen tundra that is northern Minnesota to obtain cinnamon rolls."
"Yes, good thing." Cas agreed softly. He tipped his cup back, draining the remaining of his coffee.
"Jesus, Cas. It's been like two minutes."
"It's good coffee. If you want me to also be a 'thoughtful husband,' then you should be thankful for my high caffeine intake first thing in the morning."
"Yeah, I remember that time we ran out of coffee at the bunker. You were on a warpath. Sam hid in the dungeon because you nearly called him an 'abomination' again."
"Yes, Dean. I recall. I already apologized to your brother for that."
Dean took a bite of bacon, amused. "Hey, I thought it was funny. I'm just glad you didn't turn on me, too."
"You're the one that went to the store to supply me with more coffee."
"Jesus, you make it sound like I'm your dealer or something."
"You may as well be," He pointed out, grabbing Dean's cup of coffee and taking a long drink of it.
"Yeah, yeah. Eat your damn breakfast. Those cinnamon rolls better be worth the trouble."
Cas opened his mouth, surely to respond with some sassy comment but at the last moment thought better of it and took a large bite of the cinnamon roll. The sound that emitted from his mouth was absolutely sinful.
"Oh my God, Dean." He moaned. "This is amazing."
"You want a room for just the two of you?"
"What do you mean?" Cas tilted his head as he chewed thoughtfully. "We have a room, we're in it right now."
"I -- never mind, Cas. It was a joke. It's that good, huh?"
"Yes, you must try it." He tore off a piece of his cinnamon roll and held it up to Dean's mouth. "Eat it." He ordered.
And wow, okay. The demanding tone from Cas was really working for Dean. He hesitantly leaned forward and took the piece into his mouth. His tongue momentarily brushed against Cas' finger and he swore that he saw Cas' pupils dilate. Huh.
"Yeah, 's good, Cas."
Cas looked pleased with himself and continued eating it in silence, the only sounds in the room were his small moans as he finished it off. Dean felt dazed and forced himself to finish his own breakfast.
"Dean, you have --"
"What?"
"Just, let me -- you have icing on your mouth." Cas leaned forward so he was in Dean's space and slowly dragged his finger along Dean's bottom lip. Against his lip, the pad of his finger felt calloused and rough. Cas' gaze flickered to Dean's lips before they focused on Dean's eyes.
Wait. Is he going to -- ? Dean's brain immediately stopped working as Cas held his gaze and put his finger in his mouth, sucking the frosting off it. Holy fuck, if that wasn't the hottest thing he'd ever seen. Dean knew his mouth was agape and he probably looked like an idiot but he couldn't find the strength to care. Cas basically licked frosting off of him. His pink, plump lips were wrapped around his long finger and Dean's brain not-so-helpfully supplied a lot of fantasies relating to that.
Cas pulled his finger out of his mouth and went back to drinking Dean's coffee with a little smirk on his face. Asshole.
"I, uh -- I'm going to take a shower." Dean mumbled and hurried out of the room.
Dean hurried from the room and locked himself in the bathroom. He leaned against the heavy oak door and took a deep breath. Was it his imagination or was Cas flirting with him? Why else would he suck the icing off his finger like that? Sure, Cas used to have that whole 'innocent angel' going for him but now he's human and he actually acts like it. Probably Dean's bad influence, but whatever. The point is Cas had to know what he was doing, right? No one in their right mind would clean icing from their friend's face and then lick it off if they didn't want to be more than friends.
The worst part is that it was really fucking hot. Dean was already struggling to suppress his feelings for Cas and that nearly pornographic display was really not helping. But maybe he didn't need to actively suppress those feelings, not if Cas felt the same way. But did he? Dean still couldn't be sure. If Cas truly was messing around or didn't understand the connotation of his actions, then Dean would be fucking mortified. Regardless, he couldn't keep sitting around waiting for something to happen between them. So he'll push their boundaries a little and see how Cas reacts. Hopefully then he'll get a better idea of where they stand.
Dean rolled his eyes at himself for how complicated he's making this. If only he felt comfortable straight up asking Cas, but that's never been his style. At last, he peeled himself from the door and turned on the shower. He undressed and briefly considered taking an ice-cold shower to calm himself down, but he changed his mind. Turning the temperature dial to hot, he decided to address his not-so-little problem. After all, he would need to have his mind clear if he was going to read Cas for any indications of his feelings.
He stepped under the shower and nearly groaned as the hot water washed over him. The water pressure was excellent and soothed his sore muscles. His thoughts immediately turned to Cas as he began to stroke himself. The image of Cas’ pink lips sucking on his finger filled his mind as he expertly flicked his wrist around the tip. He imagined those lips around him instead and within no time he was groaning Cas’ name as he spilled into his fist.
---
Dean and Cas spent their afternoon lounging on the couch watching movies. Once Cas became human, Dean compiled a list of movies that Cas needed to watch. Most were movies that came out after Metatron uploaded all of the pop culture references into his mind so that way Cas could truly watch something for the first time. However, Dean snuck a few of his favorites onto the list like the Harry Potter series, Lord of the Rings, and a few spaghetti westerns. When Dean saw there was a Star Wars marathon on tv (another series on the list) Dean declared they would be having a lazy afternoon until it was time for the bourbon tasting.
This brings them to where they are now: sitting with their backs against opposite arms of the couch, legs tangled together under a large shared blanket and the box of chocolates from their honeymoon package sitting half eaten between the two.
Cas grabbed another piece of chocolate out of the heart shaped box, humming happily as he chewed.
"Which character is your favorite?" Cas asked, as he swallowed the candy.
"Han Solo, hands down."
"I should have known."
"What is that supposed to mean?"
"Oh, come on, Dean. The parallels between you and his character are so obvious. You have the whole 'I'm better off alone' thing going for you, even though deep down you're really caring and would do anything to save your family."
Right. Cas has always been able to read him perfectly. "Whatever, man. Han Solo is cool. And Harrison Ford is a good looking dude." Dean snuck a glance at Cas to see if he'd react to that.
"I suppose," Cas acknowledged, tilting his head as he surveyed Dean. If anything, he seemed curious with a glint in his bright eyes.
"So, uh - let me guess. Your favorite character is Princess Leia?" Dean ventured.
"Actually, yes. She's always out for the victory of many, rather than personal gain. Leia is very brave and independent, too."
"Yeah, I can see why she would be your favorite. It's like you -- always working towards the greater good."
Cas smiled at Dean and his eyes crinkled around the corners. He looked so happy and so human in this moment that Dean was almost tempted to just blurt out his feelings for the man. Almost.
Instead, he threw a piece of chocolate at Cas, which he caught in his mouth, looking very pleased with himself. "You're a dork," Dean said fondly, rolling his eyes.
"I know."
"Did you just Han Solo me?"
Cas looked amused and just turned his attention back to the movie. That asshole totally Han Solo'd him.
- - -
By the time the movie ended, it was nearly time for the bourbon tasting. Dean forced himself up from the couch that had no business being so comfortable, so he could get dressed for the day. He quickly threw on some dark jeans, a t-shirt and a blue button down, which he left open. Deeming it satisfactory for the day, he threw on a coat and waited by the door for Cas to be ready.
While he waited, Dean shot off a text to Sam asking how research was going. Sam immediately responded with 'slow' and an eye rolling emoji. Dean was about to reply and rub it in Sam's face that he gets to go drink bourbon while Sam is stuck reading tomes, but it was at that moment that Cas came out of the bathroom. He was clad in black jeans that were mouthwateringly tight and one of Dean's Zepp shirts. He had become so accustomed to Cas' pristine suit and tie ensemble that sometimes seeing him dressed so casually in Dean's clothes, nonetheless, causes Dean's brain to stop working.
"Am I underdressed?" Cas asked, eyeing Dean warily. "Should I throw on a button down like you?"
"God, no." Dean said, internally wincing at the hoarseness of his voice. "I mean -- it's just a bourbon tasting. You don't have to dress up or anything." Besides, it would be an absolute crime to cover those arms. They were tanned and muscly and Cas should always wear t-shirts to show them off because damn. Dean so badly wanted to run his hands along them, feeling the muscles flex under his touch.
Cas threw on his jacket, interrupting Dean's train of thought. God, it's like he reverted back to a 14-year old's body with the way it constantly responds to Cas.
"Ready?"
"Ready," Cas confirmed, sliding on his Grand View mittens with a soft smile.
The bourbon tasting wasn't very crowded. High-top tables filled the room but only about seventy-five percent were filled. Dean and Cas grabbed a table towards the back of the room so they could keep an eye on everyone. Each table only had 2 chairs which were facing towards the front where the speaker would be. Dean realized this must be another 'couples only' event. The room was dimly lit with dark wood paneled walls, making it feel very warm and intimate. Small table lamps were on each table, along with two flights of bourbon glasses with 5 shot glasses each.
"Cas, are you going to be able to handle this? 5 shots of bourbon is a lot, this shit is strong. I don't want to have to carry you out of here."
Cas sat in the chair to the right and rolled his eyes. "I can handle my liquor just fine, Dean. You've taught me well."
"Hell, I suppose that's true." Dean joined him, sitting in the remaining chair. He scooted his chair closer to Cas and rested his arm on the back of Cas' chair.
"Right," Cas murmured. "We better get in character." He leaned in against Dean's side and rested his hand on Dean's upper thigh. It was enough inches above the knee that it certainly wasn't an innocent placement. His hand was a welcome weight on his thigh and Dean moved his arm so as to rest his hand on Cas' shoulder. He got a small smile in response, letting him know that was okay so Dean rubbed his thumb in circles against it. A soft sigh escaped Cas' mouth which was frankly adorable.
"Did Sam say he found anything else about his lead?" Cas asked, leaning into Dean's ear. Goosebumps prickled along his neck in response.
"Not yet," Dean muttered. "He said he's doing research but hasn't found anything concrete. We'll give him a call after this, we'll have some time to kill before our dinner reservations."
Cas nodded. "I feel like we haven't done much to help move this case along. I do not want Sam to feel like he's doing all of the work."
"I know. But we knew we were unlikely to get any information from guests. All we can really do is try to lure whatever it is and go from there."
"I suppose." Cas chewed on his bottom lip and Dean wanted nothing more than to release his bottom lip and kiss it. Maybe bite it, then smooth it over with a swipe of his tongue. What kind of sounds would Cas make?
"Dean."
"Hmm?" Dean dragged his eyes from Cas' lips to his eyes. His pupils were blown wide, leaving only a small ring of blue.  Another look he wasn't used to reading on Cas.
"Kiss me."
"What?"
"We need to move the case along. Kiss me."
Right. The case. That's why Cas wants to kiss him. No other reason. Dean sighed, a little dejected. He was hoping to avoid this because he knows once he does, it's going to be torture knowing what it's like to kiss Cas without being able to do it again whenever he wants.
"Are you su--?" Dean didn't get to finish his sentence because with a frustrated growl, Cas grabbed the collar of Dean's shirt and pulled him in, pressing their lips together. It started chaste.  A dry press of their lips, soft and warm and innocent. Then Cas sighed into Dean's mouth and made a small sound in the back of his throat. And that made Dean absolutely feral.
His fingers pressed into Cas' hips as he licked into his mouth. He was warm and tasted like honey and chocolate. The smell of his aftershave surrounded him, and it was all just so delicious. Their lips perfectly slotted together, and the kiss was slow and languid, like they all had night and could take their time exploring each other. Dean always imagined their first kiss would be frantic and rough, filled with the unresolved sexual tension from over the course of ten years. He never imagined it could be so sweet, yet so hot. It was everything he'd been waiting for and so much more. Except that it still wasn't enough. He needed more -- he needed to feel Cas against him, he needed to explore every part of him and kiss him so hard that he becomes dazed and all he can do is chant Dean's name like a prayer.
Distantly, a door slammed shut, reminding the two that they were in a very public place, and not in the privacy of their cabin. They jumped apart, flushed and hearts pounding. Dean stared at Cas, his lips were parted, red and swollen, as he breathed heavily.
Dean momentarily closed his eyes, breathing through his nose as he tried to calm his body down. The last thing he needed was for someone to see he was rock hard at a bourbon tasting. He peeked at Cas, who looked just as debauched.
"Jesus, Cas." Dean groaned. One kiss and he was completely hooked. How the hell would he ever be able to look at Cas and his mouth and not think about kissing him?
"Sorry," He nervously licked his lips. "I may have gotten carried away."
"You -- ? No, man. If anything, I got carried away. It's just -- ah, it's been a while since someone kissed me like that. That's all."
Cas nodded, his small smile back. "I'm glad I didn't make you uncomfortable."
Dean laughed humorlessly. In reality, it just solidified his attraction for the guy and he's pretty sure that kiss is going to be the thing that ultimately kills him. "If anything, we just made sure we're target number one."
Something flickered on Cas' face, but it was gone before he could get a good read on it. Before he could analyze too heavily, the speaker greeted everyone and began giving an overview of the brands of bourbon poured out in front of them.
Dean half-listened as he introduced himself and gave his credentials. He told Cas it had been a while since he'd been kissed like that, but truthfully had he ever been kissed like that? He didn't think so.
"The first glass in front of you is Old Forester 1897. From Kentucky, Old Forester is known for making affordable high-quality bourbon," The man explained. "Tasting this first glass, you should note rich vanilla with roasted coffee notes and spiced overnotes. This one is big and bold, with a dark caramel finish. Take the next few minutes to try this one and discuss it with your partner. I recommend trying it in sips, focusing on each of the flavors I mentioned. Enjoy!"
Quiet conversation broke out in the room. Dean sniffed the amber liquid and his mouth nearly watered. Typically, he drinks the cheap stuff because that's what is always around. So, having the opportunity to taste some high-quality bourbon put Dean in an instant good mood. Any awkwardness from the kiss quickly faded and Dean was grateful for the distraction.
"Cheers," Dean said happily. He clanked his shot glass against Cas and drank it all in one go. It burned down his throat into his chest and instantly he felt the warmth spread through him. And now that the guy mentioned it, yeah, he could taste the hint of caramel.
"You were supposed to sip it." Cas frowned. "Not drink it all at once."
"It was just a recommendation, Cas. You can drink it however you want."
Cas didn't look happy with Dean's answer and took another sip of the bourbon. Dean watched as Cas' throat swallowed the bourbon and suddenly he was regretting drinking it all in one go. Watching Cas savor the drink made him wish he had something to distract himself with.
He quickly tore his eyes away from Cas' mouth for the millionth time that day. "What do you think, Cas?"
"I like it. It makes me feel...warm."
Dean laughed. "Yeah, bourbon will do that to you. It's the best drink to have in winter for that exact reason."
The bourbon man clapped his hands together to gather everyone's attention. "I see most of you have finished the 1897, so I'll move forward onto the next one. This next one is perfect for the colder months - "
Dean lifted his eyebrows at Cas as if to say see, I told you so. Cas smiled and turned his attention back to the speaker.
" - it is another Old Forester bourbon, but this one is the 1910. It has notes of cherry, dark chocolate, maple syrup and a hint of spice. For those of you who prefer sweet to spice, this is the bourbon for you." He continued sharing trivia about the Old Forester brand and the barrels used to make these bottles. "Now that I've given you all time to clear your taste pallets, enjoy the 1910!"
Dean focused this time on savoring the glass instead of drinking it in one large gulp. He had to admit, Cas was right. When he took the time to savor the flavors he could actually pick up on the cherry and dark chocolate. Before all he tasted was the burn of it.
"I really like this one." Cas announced. His cheeks were a little pink from the alcohol which Dean thought was endearing as hell. "I like the maple syrup flavor."
"When we get home, I'll have to introduce you to the finer bottles of whiskey I've been saving for a special occasion. You'll love it."
Cas titled his head. "But you said you're saving it for a special occasion?"
"Hell, Cas. We saved the world and we're all together. It can't get more special than that."
"I suppose not."
The rest of the tasting continued the same. The speaker would explain the bourbon they were tasting and include some interesting facts (all bourbon is whiskey but not all whiskey is bourbon) and sometimes some gross ones (like before there were strict FDA regulations, distilleries used to include substances like tobacco spit and dirt in their whiskey barrels for flavor) and by the time they finished their fifth and final glass, Dean and Cas were feeling the effects of the bourbon. Cas more so, his speech was a little slurred but he could hold himself upright just fine. He was in that perfect tipsy zone and Dean wasn't far behind him.
The lodge offered a free shuttle service for everyone back to their cabins so the guests wouldn't have to stumble back to their cabins in the cold. Dean happily took them up on that service because he knew he wasn't in the right state to drive. The shuttle was a small bus with only a few rows of seats. They grabbed a seat in the back while a few of the other couples from the class climbed in.
With a low rumble, the shuttle started and lurched forward. It headed along the road towards Dean and Cas' cabin, making stops along the way for the other guests. Cas leaned into Dean's side and sighed happily, nuzzling his face in the crook of Dean's shoulder.
"Mmm, 's nice." His voice was muffled against Dean's coat. "You're warm."
"You're drunk."
"Just a little," He pressed a kiss to his shoulder and Dean's breath hitched. Was this part of the act or was this Cas with his guard down? He leaned more into Dean and gripped Dean's arm. To any onlooker, there would be no doubt they're a couple. That thought sent a little thrill through Dean, secretly pleased by that idea. Who knew he was so possessive?
The bus stopped at the access road leading up to their cabin, so Dean nudged Cas and ushered him off the bus. They stepped out into the cold and Dean felt it sober him up a little. Cas must have felt the same because he was holding himself up straighter and his eyes seemed a little less cloudy. They trudged up the road leading to their cabin and Dean grabbed a hold of Cas' hand, noting the small smile which formed.
"Should we call Sam?"
"Yes, good idea." Dean pulled out his phone with his free hand and dialed Sam's number. It rang a few times then went to voicemail. "Did he reject my call?"
"That seems very out of character for Sam."
Dean tried again. On the second ring he picked up, sounding out of breath. "Dean?"
"Dude, did you reject my call?"
"Uh, sorry. I was - uh in the middle of something."
Dean and Cas exchanged a confused look. "Why are you out of breath? I know you're not running in this weather."
"No reason. I just -- what's up? Are you guys alright?"
"Dean and I drank bourbon at the tasting and now I feel really warm," Cas announced.
"Are you guys drunk?" Sam sounded amused.
"No!" They both said in unison.
"Just, tell me about the lead you found."
"Oh, right! I don't really know much yet. But last night at happy hour the staff was talking about local legends and there was this one that targets young people in love. I don't remember the name of it, but it sounded like it fit the bill. The locals didn't know much that sounded helpful so I'm having Donna look into it."
"That sounds promising," Cas agreed. "Do you remember any other details?"
"Not any that are helpful. I had to really sift through a lot of stuff that isn't our kind of thing. You know how these legends get so twisted over the years."
"Well, keep us posted if Donna finds anything."
"Yeah, will do. Just hang tight until --"
A loud crash echoed over the phone and a woman's voice carried through, saying something intelligible.
"Sam." Dean warned. "Who's there with you?"
"Um --"
"So help me -- if you are with another woman I'm going to be pissed. Eileen is so beyond your league and the fact that you're even willing to risk that..."
"Shit." Sam sighed over the phone. "Switch to facetime."
Dean did as Sam said and was greeted with Sam's anxious face. "So uh -- Eileen is here." He turned the camera and was greeted by Eileen smiling sheepishly.
Cas signed something to Eileen and she laughed in response. Dean focused the camera back on his face so Eileen could read his lips. "What are you doing in Minnesota?"
"My hunt in Iowa wrapped up early, so I came up here to join Sam."
"I thought your hunt was in Ohio?" Cas questioned.
Eileen had a look that was equal parts sympathy and panic on her face as she handed the phone back to Sam.
"Sam, what the hell? Was Eileen not actually on a hunt?"
"No." He admitted. "She wasn't."
"Then why the hell did you send us on this hunt when you two could have done it?"
Now Sam just looked uncomfortable and Dean suddenly realized what was going on. "You've got to be kidding me." Sam opened his mouth to respond but Dean cut him off. "Nope. Not discussing this with you. Not now, not ever. We have to go, keep us updated on the case."
"Bye!" Eileen yelled from the background before the screen went black.
"I don't understand what just happened." Cas said, looking genuinely confused. "What did Sam do?"
"He set us up! To take this case when he and Eileen could have done it."
"But what did he set us up with?"
"Each other, Cas." Dean said strained.
"Oh." He squeaked and blushed furiously.
Oh.
Oh.
Maybe he wasn't going to kill Sam after all.
