I don’t hate smut but at the same time the older I get the more I look for plot. Smut is cool and all but there’s no lead up to it, just BAM!! Id be reading a regular chapter than boom a smut warning and I be mad confused, like when did dis happen. Lmao I can talk about this shit all day. Man when I tell you I was obsessed, I WAS OBSESSED. Like I ate, slept, and breathed billdip.

Looking back at it, I think that ship and the community surrounding it was a safe place for me. Yeah, it had a lot of shit I shouldn’t have been reading at that age but also I just found comfort in escaping reality for a little bit and creating and writing little stories. It was really nice while it lasted but then as I got older I kinda drifted away from the fandom. It made me sad at first and sometimes I wish I could go back but I know this is apart of growing up and I’m just kinda content with it now. I still read fanfics but as far as writing or creating fan art I just stopped cold turkey.

Oh yeah, that obsession was my entire life, I can relate on that. It was the thing I did all summer, after school, at night - it was like my daily meals honestly. I drifted off the whole thing a few months, or maybe even last yr, but I still wish I could go back to the Fandom just for the nostalgia, yknow? Like, there's LOTSSS of nostalgia in that Fandom, I cannot put it in depth enough about how much the ship overtook half of my teenagehood tbh. I think lots of kids just resorted to escaping reality w these sort of stuff, and I can see why w how they're like - yknow, figuring themselves out and all. Or just the idea of reading a romance story, no matter how cheesy or rushed, during everyone's worse moments. It feels impossible to just NOT get into one Fandom during puberty, like idk if that makes any sense

Okay, this might be the last one but unpopular opinion, I don’t think people genuinely ship Billdip regarding their actual personalities and shit.

I think a lot of people just like the cocky asshole and nerd dynamic and saw BillDip fanart and said “yeah, this.. this can work🤔🤔” but if we compare fanon to canon, Dipper and Bill might as well be Ocs cause mann…

And I’m not shitting on anyone who does like that type of dynamic because trust, I use to eat that shit right up but it’s just funny to me that a triangle got turned into a tall, lanky, tan, stallion, with a deep voice. And Dipper, a sweaty socially awkward kid got turned into the definition of a discord kitten.

Yeah I remember how easily I ate that up when I got introduced to the ship, not trashing it, but when I grew (and was still into the ship) I realized how off their personalities were - like they're some genuine good written stories w Dipper and Bill not sounding too ooc and actually in character, but the majority of them use to be just top x bottom for the mere purpose of smut. Which, no shame, I use to just read for that, but it got tiring once you actually just wanted to see romance and sure a sprinkle or pastry of dirty scenes here and there. But I don't rlly want to trash on it too much cuz most of the Fandom were just middle schoolers or sum, it's kinda funny to think about some 12 yr old kid writing a story about doing the deed w a triangle and awkward dude 💀💀 like, wowza that takes me off guard sometimes. There are some really good stories out there though, tho I wish I saw those b4 the short rushed ones as a kid; I would've had a better concept of their dynamic rather than the basic nerd/cocky

I relate to you whole heartily about leaving the billdip fandom. Don’t get me wrong, I fucking love billdip and it will always have a place in my heart but I only became obsessed with fandom versions of them. If I have never seen that billdip amv years ago, I honestly wouldn’t have even touched this ship.

And honestly I can go on about other stuff I agree/relate to but this ask would be LONG asl.

I remember getting into billdip because of fanatt for the most part, but I don't remember which one it was specifically that caught my interest - it was the fanfics that caught my eye; I remember which specific one got me tied in too💀

If ur comfortable, I'd love to also go one about the other stuff you'd agree upon - I feel like it's a bit difficult to find others who tend to fall in the wrong direction in media, or at least those who admit it. If not it's understandable, but I hope you're having a good day! Or night, idk🤨
