Start with something easier and more relaxing

I've been developing my own art style by drawing Jojo for so long, but it turns out that isn't the best way for me, since I haven't made any progress, still focusing only on faces but never begin to draw bodies. The art style of Jojo is too complex for me, who choose to learn drawing mainly through imitation. I decide to start with something easier and more relaxing, and Mob Psycho 100 is the best choice. Its art style is simple, with the human structure, facial expressions, postures and clothing easy for me to understand.

So I firstly imitated the anime character settings of Reigen and Mob, not 100% copying but trying to draw in the way I feel comfortable with. I literally know nothing about coloring, so I directly pick the colors from the official artwork. I feel that Mob is too cute in anime (I like that though), and I somewhat like his vibe in manga (which I can't describe), so I tried to mix the two, which I expectedly failed lol.

Then I drew Ritsu and Mezato. Ritsu in down-right corner looks really weird so I covered his face for now, will re-draw him later (he is hard to draw, but not as hard as to draw his brother). And I love drawing girls! There will be more girls in the future.

After drawing those 4 character settings, I kinda understand the basics of human body, postures and expressions. I tried to draw myself in the same way, and I think it works well, at least its the best I can do right now. I'm satisfied that I've made so much progress, and see you late Jojo! I'll come back when I'm stronger!

I'm recently really stressed by everything in my life, and this setting perfectly shows my daily conditions, which none of them is happy lol. I'll explain them a little bit here.

Left-top: Trying to save an Ai or a Ps file, but my laptop freezes. The Chinese Character "啧" means "tsk".

Left-bottom: Wandering.

Center: Waiting for metro at 10:30 pm, exhausted and starving.

Right-top: Yawning, apparently, bored or tired.

Right-bottom: Have made a digital model for 3 hours, but Rhino 3D suddenly crashed, and the file fails to save. The Chinese Charater "艹" meangs "Fxxk" or "damn".

It's hard to develop my own art style, but I think I've finally made some progress (EXCITING!!!).

I drew Pol first, with the least deftness and patience so his eyes, nose, and EVERYTHING is wierd. He looks like a bad guy right now. I'm truly feeling sorry for him, and I truly adore him lol. Next time I'll redraw him with all my love.

Kak, my favorite character in the entire JJBA universe, was the second. I've been drawing him all the time so I was kinda confident with this one, but it turned out that I messed up his hair... and his nose, and EVERYTHING. It's time to do some research on Kak's hair style.

Then Jot, my favorite Jojo. I definitely did much better this time! His neck looks unusual but it's not the point I was focusing on! And I really enjoyed drawing him without hat. He is like Johnathan somehow. Maybe I'll never put his hat back - just kidding.

Then Avdol, with the most details (love his earrings so much) and patience. His eyes are not sysmetical (none of them - and human - has a symetrical face anyways), but his nose is the best one I've ever drawn. Congradulations!

Last, Joseph, my second favorite Jojo, drawn with the shortest time. I tried to make him look more like Jot, but... Never mind, at least they have eyes of the same color. I didn't know how to draw beard and wrinkles, and I wasn't sure how he should be like without hat. Nonetheless I'm still proud of myself.

It's been forever since the last time I drew them! I wrote so many animes in my intro, yet I've been posting things about JJBA only. I will post more drawings of other animes in the future. Although I have few followers - and I don't expect the number to increase - I consider my Tumblr account a place where my progress is recorded as time passes.

Hinata looks great with the coloring while Kageyama doesn't look like himself with the coloring hhh.

Making vector illustration is super fun, and I think I'm becoming obsessed with it. I drew the nails last night before sleep. The pure nail was a real challenge, Luckily I can blur the shapes in Vectornator so that I was able to make it shine bright! And sadly the effect was cancelled when the svg file is opened in Ai on computer. It seems that Ai doesn't support it? I'm gonna study more about these two programs.

And I've changed some of the file icons, useless but cute :)

I'm planning to make a map of the game with every important info labelled. If everything in the map is vector illustration, the image quality stays perfect no matter how you zoom in or out. I want to design my own route for the speedrun task (okay just the "100% completion in 20 hours" for now! I'm not skilled enough to do the other speedruns. Wondering if the tasks are the same on Switch and Steam?). I usually don't watch the game tutorials cuz I enjoy exploring on my own (except for the White Palace, I've stuck on it for several hours). The experience of success and failure makes the game more interesting.

Just Began Using Vectornator

Sometimes I need to make my own icons for design project, and I often feel difficult using Adobe Illustrator on computer. But recently I've discovered Vectornator which allows me to do the work on iPad, so much more efficient. I've drawn several items from Hollow Knight to practice using the pen tool, and posted some of my favorite things in the game.

When I need Geo, Gathering Swarm is usually used with Unbreakable/Fragile Greed (I didn't draw yet cuz it's too complicated). The sound of Geos coming into pocket is always so satisfying.

Steady Body is the charm I want to get ASAP each time I start a new game. Unfortunately, I have to bear the unsteadiness until I defeat Gruz Mother and finally get to Salubra. It's painful for a clumsy gamer such as myself.

Mark of Pride is my favorite charm! It greatly expands the range of attack, and extremely useful when doing nail jumps and fighting with bosses I don't want to get too close, such as Nosk and Mawlurk.

Unbreakable strength is my second favorite charm, which has helped me completing some time-consuming task such as the Colosseum.

Dash master increases the frequency of dashing, and allows dashing downward. I love it when fighting with Hornet, and I hate it when the game mistakes a regular dash for a downward dash (yep I play with the Switch Lite... Understandable).

Quick Slash would be my favorite if I could get it in the early stage of the game instead of getting it in the Kingdom's Edge, after encountering those nasty bugs such as Primal Aspid and Great Hopper.

Emmmm don't know what to write with my limited vocabulary, but I really like the appearance of these three items. And, even though I've played this game for several times, I could never remember the location of every Pale Ore.

That's it for my very first post (kind of) about Hollow Knight. I will draw other thing from the game when I'm free from study and work.

I thought that I’ll draw one of the Jojos one day, but actually I drew Jotaro today before dinner😂 Though I don’t have the skill and patience to do the coloring in detail, I’m satisfied.

My mom said he looks like Zorro in the old film.

Today is The Mid-Autumn Festival in China when I don’t need to work ;) So I have time to draw these two that I missed for so long.

My first time drawing Caesar, who’s too beautiful for me to draw. This is really sketchy, and I’ll improve it another day when I have enough patience, which I’ve already run out of today.

And I practiced again drawing my favorite boy! It’s interesting to try different line arts and colorings, and I finally found the easiest way to draw his hair. Though I still don’t know how to add shadow. Anyway, all my drawings look the best when they are sketchy drafts.

And I changed the coloring of my previous drawing from Kak’s original setting into his Death 13 setting in anime, which looks extremely badass.

…I still don’t have the courage to draw any of the Jojos since my last Jotaro drawing quite a while ago. Hope that one day I can produce something satisfying.

Just learned how to play Kak’s theme music today🍒It’s been sooooooooooo long since the last time I played the piano, and I can clearly see my stiffness in the video😂 More time is needed for learning the full version!
