Event organizer Gariath Concepts will be bringing the hype once again with this year’s Esports and Gaming Summit 2018 (ESGS 2018), co-presented by PLDT Home Fibr and Smart, happening on October 26 to 28, 2018 at the SMX Convention Center, Pasay City, Philippines. It is going to be a three-day weekend full of gaming and esports, so go and hangout along with your friends and family for an epic gaming journey that you will never forget. As one of the biggest E-Sports Competition and Gaming Conventions in Southeast Asia, ESGS continues to grow and provides the best gaming experience in the Philippines on its fourth year. Here’s what to expect.
Leading brands from the gaming and tech world will return as they showcase their latest line of titles and products. From the tech side, Asus Republic of Gamers will feature their latest line of
gaming laptops as well as making a big reveal with their highly anticipated ROG Phone. Other hardware
brands such as MSI, HyperX, Predator, HP Omen, ViewSonic and Logitech will also grace the event with
their own lineup of activities and event exclusive deals.
For the gaming side, Kojima Productions will make a presence in the event by selling their exclusive merchandise. Capcom will be showcasing their upcoming titles to the public, such as the Resident Evil 2 Remake and Devil May Cry 5.
Local developers will join the party as well. Secret Six
returns for more activities with Project Xandata and Synergy 88 will promote their newest animated
series project Barangay 143. More game publishers will promote their new and hit titles, such as Gameclub, Gumi, Gravity, Monstronauts, Most Played Games, Ranida Games, NetEase Games,
GMA New Media, Valofe and more.
Esports action will take place in ESGS 2018. After months of intense DOTA 2 and Tekken 7 action across several regions in the country, including Cebu, Bacolod, Cagayan De Oro, Laguna, and Manila, the finalists for the Road to The Nationals are set to make ESGS 2018 their battlefield. PLDT-Smart, together with ESPN 5 and RCBC, bringing non-stop esports action all three days of the event with the Grand Finals for both DOTA 2 and
Tekken 7. At stake for the Grand Finals will be a total prize pool of Php1.2 million for DOTA 2 and PhP 300,000 for Tekken 7. The bigger prize is also looming above the competitors: a chance to be drafted as part of The Grand Finals of The Road to The Nationals will be available via livestreaming on GG Network’s
Facebook page, the Sports 5 YouTube page, and live on Aksyon (Ch. 41 on UHF) on October 27 at 7PM
and October 28 starting at 6PM.
The World Electronic Sports Games will have its Philippine Finals where the top teams for DOTA2,
Starcraft 2, Hearthstone, VainGlory and Counter Strike: Global Offensive will fight for the spot as
Philippine representatives for the Southeast Asia finals happening at the end of 2018.
Mobile Esports Arena will host their MESA Open where the best mobile esports players battle each
other to prove who the best is. Games like Hearthstone, Mobile Legends and VainGlory will have their
own respective tournaments for the entire three-day event. Playbook Esports will be hosting a series of fighting game tournaments at the Fighting Game Arena. Featuring different fighting game communities as they showcase their best plays and moves from
popular fighting game titles. And the best part, the winners from Tekken 7, Street Fighter V: Arcade
Edition, Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, Blazblue Cross Tag Battle and Dragon Ball FighterZ will represent

Local game developers will also get a spotlight for homegrown talents. The Game Developers Association of the Philippines continues their support with their focus on academic workshops and seminars at their GameOn area. The independent game developers will showcase their creations at the Indie Fiesta, the Independent Game Developers Association Manila will be supporting the young and aspiring developers where
attendees can get a hands on of the upcoming 40 games.
Fans can expect a lot of merchandise at ESGS. With the Artist Alley; attendees can check out fan arts, ask
for artwork commissions and purchase other awesome works from the talented artists. There is also the
merchandise area for those who want to buy some action figures, apparels and other cool trinkets. We

Not only that, the annual cosplay competition is back, powered by Animax Philippines and organized by Anime Alliance. The competition has a new twist. This year, contestants will compete in their best fighting game cosplay, performing with their best moves as well. The cosplay panel of judges will be Kang Dupet, Loki Heart and Tessa to evaluate the contestants.

Some of the best DDR players in the Philippines gathered at Quantum Game Booth in Cosplay Mania 2018 last September 30 held at SMX Convention Center, Pasay City to witness the battle of the Top 8 finalists for both Intermediate and Pro Circuits in DDR All Star Challenge 2018. This event also celebrated Dance Dance Revolution’s 20th Anniversary as well. We made a special coverage for this event to give you its full details.
DDR All Star Challenge is a Dance Dance Revolution tournament organized by DDR Philippines, together with Quantum Amusement Corporation and Konami. In the beginning, DDR players in the Philippines came out and tried to qualify for the DDR All Star Challenge. But over the past few weeks, 16 finalists from the Intermediate and Pro Circuits nabbed spots in the Grand Showdown at Cosplay Mania 2018.
The eight finalists from the Intermediate Circuit were Roland Alan Co, Andrew Ryan Subiela, Eric Jay Sanchez, Adrian Asada, Jim Alan Mascariña, Fredie Ric Cablao, Aljohn Kim, and Christopher Besiño.
The eight Pro Circuits finalists were Kristian Ibañez, Bob Chester Iñes, Gab Santiago, Arturo Carunongan, Jun Jun Guerra, Patricia De Guia, Rodolfo Espiño Jr, and Glen Michael Serrano.
This event was hosted by DDR Philippines Admin, Ino Boado. The Grand Showdown started with the cheers from the DDR anthem “Lesson by DJ!” The crowd were amazed by the freestyles of DDR players, dancing with the arrows and bars all day long.
The most awaited competition began and the Pro Circuit finalists were first. Bob (BCHESTER) won against Glen (GLENKNMX) during their match. Bob advances to the next round while Glen went straight over to the losers bracket. Gab (HIKE) took the match against Rodolfo (DATU) Gab proceeds to the next round and Rodolfo headed over to the losers bracket.
It’s Patricia (HIKARI) vs. Jun Jun (BEERBELY). They performed consistently on their song picks and got high EX scores, but Patricia got the highest score and proceeded to the next round while Jun Jun dropped into the Losers Bracket. Kristian (DARK.KEI) swept Arturo (R2ROKID9) on their match. Arturo proceeds in the Losers Bracket while Kristian made into the next round.
It’s Gab vs. Bob’s match that time. The competition got tougher as they played Level 15 songs right off the bat. Bob won that round while Gab proceeded to the Losers Bracket. On the other hand, Kristian beat Patricia during their match. Kristian advanced to the next round while Patricia went into the Losers Bracket
Meanwhile, it’s the Intermediate Circuit’s turn. The player with the highest EX Score would be the winner. The Top 8 finalists did their best on getting a high score. They performed very well on the songs “Din Don Dan”, SHION, and Disappearance of Miku.
Back in the Pro Circuit. In the Losers Bracket, the match between Glen and Rodolfo was being held. Playing these Level 14 songs, Glen saved his slot into the next round while Rodolfo had been eliminated in the finals while Jun Jun beat Arturo on their match. Jun Jun proceeds in the next round while Arturo had been eliminated.
But Glen didn’t get a chance to beat Gab on their match that indicates his elimination. However, Gab proceeds in the next round. Jun Jun and Patricia had a rematch in the Losers Bracket. During the songs “Destination”, “MAX 300”, and “Xepher Challenge” Patricia got the highest score against Jun Jun. In that case, Patricia proceeds in the next round while Jun Jun had been eliminated in the finals. It’s Gab vs. Patricia and they got Full Combos in “Zephyranthes”, “Nostalgia is Lost”, and “Starlight Oath”.
During the competition, organizers conducted a raffle. The crowd went wild as they found out that they would be giving KONAMI Arcade Championship CD Albums, SOUND VOLTEX E-Amusement Cards and a Quantum Token Card. Some rhythm gamers got these prizes and they brought smiles on their faces as they won the raffle. Congratulations to all the lucky winners!
Round 2 of the Intermediate Circuit and the Top 8 finalists did their very best through the songs “Eternal Summer”, “ALGORITHM”, and “DDR MEGAMIX.” Who got the highest EX score though?
We’re getting close to the main event. Bob and Kristian from the Winners bracket had been called in the Grand Showdown. This round got tougher as they played level 16 songs in the game. Bob won the match as he got the highest EX score than Kristian. Bob proceeded in the Grand Finals while Kristian went into the Losers Bracket. Kristian and Patricia fought in a head to head battle for a slot in the Grand Finals. Kristian made a flawless run as he won the songs against Patricia on their match. Patricia won in 2nd Runner Up though.
Both Bob and Kristian ended up facing each other in the Grand Finals of DDR All Star Challenge 2018. Bob got a Twice to Beat advantage and Kristian needed to step it up and won the match to make the bracket reset. Finalists played Level 16 songs”TRIP MACHINE (xac nanoglide mix),” “PARANOIA ~HADES~” and “on the bounce.” Everyone got surprised as Kristian clutched the match and made the bracket reset. Organizers decided to play Level 17 and 18 songs make the Grand Finals more interesting. The songs “AETHER,” “Fascination MAXX,” have been picked by the grand finalists and the song “Over the Period (Expert 18)” had been the unforgettable moment in the Grand Finals. Kristian didn’t gave up and did his best in the match against Bob. After all, they got exhausted at the end of these songs by the way. In the end, Kristian won the match against Bob. Bob placed in 1st Runner Up.
With an EX score of 5982 in the Grand Finals, Kristian Ibanez bagged the Pro Circuit Championship. He received a trophy, an exclusive Dance Dance Revolution E-Amusement Card and Quantum gift certificates. In the Intermediate Circuit, Eric Jay Sanchez got the Championship with an EX score of 8409. He also received a trophy and Quantum gift certificates as well.
The administrators from DDR Philippines will push their proposal in order to represent the Philippines in the Konami Arcade Championship (KAC). More updates will be announced in the next couple of weeks.

Congoers and rhythm gamers gathered at SMX Convention Center, Pasay City last September 29 & 30 as Quantum Amusement Corporation presented Konami and BEMANI games on their game booth in the biggest cosplay and J-culture event in the Philippines, Cosplay Mania 2018. Couma’s Corner set a special coverage for this showcase.
Since 2017, Quantum Amusement Corporation anticipates everyone on their BEMANI game showcase, loaded with fun and surprises for arcade gamers. This 2018, they step it up as they put more Konami & BEMANI machines for everyone to enjoy. Players got the chance to play these games for free!
One of the BEMANI Games that Quantum featured in Cosplay Mania 2018 is Beatmania IIDX 25 CANNON BALLERS. DJ players hit keys and span turntables from their favorite songs respectively.
Not one, not two, but four SOUND VOLTEX IV HEAVENLY HAVEN cabs have been showcased in the game booth. Rhythm gamers showed their skills on hitting those buttons and knobs precisely.
Not only SOUND VOLTEX had four cabs, but Jubeat Festo also had four cabs as well. Long queues have been recorded and many players loved this game by its easy gameplay. They also played their favorite anime, Vocaloid, and game songs during the showcase.
Nostalgia also joined the party in Quantum Game Booth. First-time players mesmerized this game as they captured the feel and enjoyment of playing the piano and performing songs like a pianist.
On the other hand, Drummers got the chance to play GITADORA EXCHAIN. They rocked the whole game booth with their drumrolls and playstyles.
Two Dance Dance Revolution machines were also featured in the game booth. One cab goes for DDR players and one cab goes for the finalists in DDR A All Star Challenge 2018. We also made a special coverage for this competition. For more details, please stay tuned. Sick moves and grooves have been shown by DDR gamers. Even cosplayers tried this game as well.
Other games such as Disney Tsum Tsum and Oreca Battle have been showcased in Cosplay Mania. Kids, teens, adults, even families enjoyed playing these games. It’s a whole lot of fun and entertainment for all ages.
Quantum sold Konami E-Amusement cards worth P200 and token cards for a 50% off worth P250. Their air mascot had been the eyecatcher in Cosplay Mania. Congoers got the chance to take pictures with mascots, Zap and Yeyo.
We’re not done yet because Quantum announced their upcoming game, Dance Rush Stardom, a new high-energy arcade dance game by KONAMI. It will be released this 2018.
