Making an Alterhuman Survey

Hi! I’m hoping to gather information on the otherkin, therian, fictionkin, and overall alterhuman communities, including actual numbers for things like median and mean ages, proportion of alterhumans who are LGBT+, proportions of different kintypes, spiritual vs psychological kintypes, etc.

First order of business: I’ve got most of the questions I want to answer ironed out, but I would appreciate it if y’all could give me any suggestions on what else you’d like to see! Please keep in mind I want most of these questions to be answered via multiple choice (check all that apply), but I will also consider questions that require a short answer instead! (Multiple choice just makes it easier to turn the data I get into useful statistics.)

Second order of business: All Internet surveys are subject to voluntary response bias, meaning that because people can choose whether or not to participate, usually only those with strong opinions will do so, leading to underrepresentation of those without such strong opinions. In order to minimize this as much as possible, I’m hoping you can help me spread the survey when it’s published as far as we can get it - both on Tumblr and on other sites. Are you part of an alterhuman/otherkin/therian/fictionkin/etc community on a different site? Send them the link. Do you know other alterhumans IRL? Ask them to participate. This has two effects: first, it helps minimize voluntary response bias, and second, it helps to gather as much data as possible so as to represent more people and get a more accurate idea of the community statistics.

Thank you for your time! I’ll be closing question suggestions on March 14th, giving y’all one week from today to give me any questions you choose! The survey should be published soon afterward. You can either post them directly on this post via replies and reblogs or send me an ask or a PM, whatever’s the most convenient for you.
