Eddie Brock is a dense mofo cuz he could just open an OnlyFans for both himself AND Venom and never worry about money again. The least realistic thing about Marvel isn’t the alien that leaks thru human skin to form semi-bulletproof flesh armor, it’s the fact that a guy as RIPPED as Eddie Brock can’t work it enough to own a decent apartment and someone like Venom doesn’t send every monsterfucker in New York/San Fransisco buckwild.
“He has to much self-respect to-” No he doesn’t. He never has and never will.

I wasn’t going to watch Welcome to Racoon City because the RE series was my first ever experience with games growing up, watching my older cousin play the first one on ps1 when I was a kid. I didn’t want to be disappointed like I was with Silent Hill. RE and SH I grew up loving.
But then I broke down and watched it, and now I have a lot of emotions. 50/50 + and - from me.
Rip me in the comments if you want, it doesn’t matter to me. This is just my opinion(s).
First of all, this movie should have a clear Epilepsy warning. Or tone down the lights in the filter. The sheer amount of times the camera was directly and quickly flashed by the bright flashlights while the characters were in dark rooms gave me an almost instant headache. I had to look away a lot during the mansion scenes because of it. It was a pain, and rather unenjoyable. I understand the flash shots created a scary tension, but it was so painful to watch that it took away from the experience. For me.
I see a lot of grief about the character’s looks. I don't care about changing ethnicities/looks. Like, go off bro. It wouldn’t ruin anything for me, and it didn’t ruin the experience for me. Let’s make that clear. The cast was gorgeous. I enjoyed their acting and the humor.
I can handle shoddy CGI if the story is good. And the CGI was far from seamless, but that isn’t my main focal point.
They basically smooshed the first set of scenarios from the games together and tried to make it comprehensive. And that’s both cool and an issue.
By this point RE has an impressive amount of lore that’s been added over the years and I understand the need to make a good first impression to gain a chance at making more movies and more money. However, they went a little too hard on that one. It was a bit of a mess. And missing Barry.
But the personalities, in my opinion, (aside from Jill) were so off key that I couldn’t move on from it. I’m not going to sit here and write a character analysis for them all, and I understand that what they probably did is try and make a more interesting backstory to what they were presenting. But, again, they went a little too far in my opinion.
Leon and Wesker, I’m looking at you my dudes. Big fat RIP on these boys. These two were written the worst in my opinion. There’s a huge difference in tweaking a character’s personality, and butchering it. While we have to remember that this story takes place before the characters ‘grew into’ their hardened personalities, they still read wrong to me. Two characters stuck out the most to me, and for the wrong reasons.
They turned Leon into a straight up clueless idiot when he was supposed to be just a confused rookie on his first day on the job, and Wesker...the cringe of Wesker in that final scene really got me. Yeah, Wesker wasn’t always the cocky evil bastard he turns out to be, but he wasn’t an all brawn, no brains jock stereotype either. I was never a Wesker stan, but I feel like I’m about to be just to defend him.
I enjoyed the attempt at making them all seem more carefree in the beginning, but...no.
I did enjoy a few little Easter Eggs. Like the addition of the “Jill Sandwich”, and Sherry having a nightmare of a Hunter, to name a few. But why does no one want to have a movie with an actual Hunter?! Why always the zombie dogs and Lickers? The Hunter bioweapons are one of the coolest monsters from the first game. I would have greatly enjoyed seeing one.
Another little nod to the finer details that I actually enjoyed and thought they did well was the creation of the actual Zombies. I see a lot of flack about this, of people saying it was ridiculous. But as someone who holds on to creepy details and enjoyed the games (Silent Hill included) for the messed up stories and background details...well done writers.
I’m not going to actually do research because I’m not that kind of person. But I will say that throughout the beginning I didn’t understand what the writers were going for with the zombies. It did seem silly...until Itchy Tasty happened.
If anyone remembers the diary entries of the security guard, or the Watchman guy, who played chess. He got infected, his arm itched and he couldn’t stop scratching even as his skin split apart. You got to read his notes page by page as the virus slowly took over his body and his mind became more of a mess. And then all his entries contained nothing but ‘Itchy, tasty’. So morbid, and I would have actually enjoyed it if the writers explored this more.
Also, the aesthetics. The scenes were on point and absolutely gorgeous.
Seeing the mansion and the rooms so accurate were *chef’s kiss*. I enjoyed the actual sets so much. Even the forest leading to the mansion was great.
But again, they had to ruin it for me by constantly butchering Leon and Wesker’s personalities and I was cringing so hard that it ruined the experience for me.
I almost want to make a gif post with only cringe moments.
Having said all that, I would definitely watch a sequel. Lmao
