UPDATED HAZBIN DESIGNS/REFS (Main Hotel Cast)

Just updated the refs for my designs for the main hotel cast. And a lot of them got design changes.

Mainly just wanted to update my refs to include the design changes I’ve made to a lot of them, but also so my refs were more comprehensible to other people, since those first refs were really only made for me

HAZBIN REDESIGNS (new designs and updates to a few old ones)

First, let’s get the new ones out of the way

Then we also have Adam, but I’m less confident with this one and I’ll prolly change him up when I have better ideas.

Also, this redesign has a lot to do with my rewrite’s version of him. Basically, Adam is supposed to be in Hell, but was let into Heaven by some higher being. So he is actually a demon. The exorcists wear helmets with horns to create a crowd that he can blend in with, so he doesn’t stand out as much.

But yeah, I’ll prolly update him once I can come up with something better. So yall get to have this concept.

Now on to the updated designs !

First is Charlie. I just wanted to update her to look more like her parents’ designs.

I’m not fully set on the colors, so I may update her again at some point.

Then there’s Vaggie:

Not many changes, mainly just included the new detail of the eye pattern on her hair.

Lastly, Alastor.

I really only changed small details about him. Just wanted to make him look a lil more unhinged and like he could’ve been a serial killer.

Here’s a version with color and a version with notes cuz I didn’t feel like adding the notes to the colored version

Small post on my redesign of Rosie. Decided to make her more like a vulture, specifically a Black Vulture as they’re known to engage in cannibalism. Not live cannibalism, but they have been seen to eat dead members of their own species.

It’s at this point I’ve realized how much I’ve made the cast more anthropomorphic, and it just kinda became unintentional cause I like drawin’ critters. But it’s also fun to give them more distinctive silhouettes and deeper meanings through using these animals. Even if most of them were from the original designs, it’s cool to give a deeper meaning to some of them.

Was originally going to make her a mantis, but many people have went the insect route. Also gives me another excuse to draw more birds.

Probably wouldn’t change much about her character, although I have leaned more into the Southern Belle aspect of her character. Also would get rid of the weird Bostonian accent she has in the show. As much as I like the voice I just don’t think it fits.

Some lil bonus info, cause I have also changed the town although I still have yet to make background redesigns. She’s still the head of the town and has overlord status, and she’d normally run it with her partners who always seem to pass before her. She will eat her deceased partners once they pass out of respect, and as a memento to them she keeps some of their feathers to use as the headpiece for her hat.

The town still looks and acts friendly under the guise of “southern hospitality.” Everyone in the town is also an animal that engages in cannibalism, so you’ll have the classic ones like mantises, frogs, and many fish species; but you’ll also find more unconventional ones like lions, leopards, and hamsters. All giving off the guise of this nice cute animal town that leaped out of a storybook, but in actuality is full of cannibals.

Dannymay 2024 Prompt Poll

Welcome back for another year! We've been running a bit late this time around but the poll is here, and so is your chance to submit your theme ideas for this year's Dannymay! It's time to get creative! This poll is now open and will close at the end of day Sunday, April 14th.

As much as I absolutely adore Baxter x Niffty, I've been thinking about Niffty with Angel's older brother Arackniss lately. 🤭

Simply because of her obsession with bad boys and him being a mafia gangster (total bad boy) while also being in her and Baxter's height range.

Ship names that aren't just combos of their names are hard to come up with so I've taken to calling them ArackNiff 🤭

Course there's like nothing of them cos her specifically liking bad boys doesn't seem to have been established til the full show came out and MadMaid seems to predate the full show, thus being the more popular ship 🤷‍♀️

Ooh this could also work, especially since Arackniss has Yellow and my Nifftys rainbow theme color is yellow 🌈 💛

Vaggie Redesign! (1/7)

Welcome to my new quest of redesigning the entire main 7 Hazbin cast! First on the chopping block is Vaggie who I will be addressing as Evangeline/Van for the rest of this post.

I’ve designed a good 100+ characters in my lifetime so I think I can manage a decent moth lady.

First thing, she was supposed to be a moth. Why not keep her as a moth. Vivziepop is a coward. Second but much more important, she is not grey anymore!!!!! All colours I used were picked from this wonderful little Gaudy Sphinx moth so everyone thank you Gaudy Sphinx moth!

For her scars, she didn’t have nearly enough to begin with. What even is this.

She deserves som recognition for yknow. Killing people. And yes I know she has that whole thing where she thought Angel’s couldn’t be injured but these are from Lute when her eye got ripped out so! Checkmate. The X is supposed to resemble Lute marking her for death so sinners could notice it and then probably torture Van because betrayal yknow. The scar colours and placement on her neck are supposed to resemble angel blood and also the swoopy things exorcists have on their necks but imagine they got more like. Burnt into her skin. Also it’s not immediately recognizable as angel marks cause theyre moth colours anyway!

Her hair looking like wings was a cool idea though I’ll give them that. Obviously she can’t fly with her hair but it’s the silhouette that counts. Oh and her short hair was cuter so I just mixed them

Also her colours were ugly!! I love myself a good black and red—i mean who doesn’t—but we know of hazbins little addiction to that colour palette and why would I use just black and red when I can divulge into insanity and refrence @bluehazardanonymous’s colour wheel again!!!!!!!!

YAAAAAYYY!!!!!! I think the greenish red suits her a lot with her protective nature and honestly probably a little bit of envy from heaven stuff. Justified of course because genuine why is heaven like that. Also the reds are definitely red but theyre a little subdued so she doesn’t come off as incredibly angry and all that. Plus red can look very elegant and I think she deserves that. As for her dress I tried to keep it inspired based off the traditional dress of El Salvador while still using colours picked from the moth.

I also really wanted to include the lace from these dresses because it is genuinely beautiful but unfortunately my lace pattern was too big and got smushed when I tried to use it so the most I can do is show it of separately😞

The blue also is a much cooler colour of course so it gives that little bit of approachability to her character. I am latino and I think I can safely say for every other latino/latina person the spicy latino character archetype is stupid and she needs more depth than that. Give us more Charlie and Van being sweet and having Charlie pull her weight instead of just standing off to the side crying all the time.

Hopefully you all enjoy the new design, I am working on a certain ssomebody next 🐍 and I intend to get it out soon (hopefully)

I am not Salvadoran and I am not super familiar with the culture there so if I messed up anything with her dress and whatnot please don’t be afraid to call me out on it so I can improve in the future. Thank you!

so i saw somepeople say they think adam will came back sinner and other people say they wised adamwas more fatherly seeing as humanity deced from him. so I was thinking what if adam does come back as a sinner and charile tries to rehalibite him and that would involve him getting off the pedastal he built for himself, so what charlie tells him that he should think of himself less like sobody to be worship by humanity and more like a father to humanity. and sooner or later he does, he even starts to even himself like that for the sinners at least the ones at the hotel. maybe at some point adam even defends the hotel from lute andshe;s upset. she offers to sneak him back into heaven while she counties to fight demons bt he says no. she ask why he defending the sinner now. adam then reports something someone told him. "these sinners are my family"

I actually had a headcanon that if Adam was to come back, helps give Alastor a wake up all call in development, seeing a bit of himself in Al and ends up reflecting on his own mistakes with control, trying to dominate others

For the record I Love Alex Brightman and his work! And I think he does good with Sir Pentious. Though another Voice I can see work well for Sir P is Dylan Saunders. He did Albus Dumbledore in A Very Potter Musical and also did a cool Scorpion villain named Pincer who I think would capture Sir P’s energy well!
