Being repeatedly misunderstood is such a strange feeling. It’s like you can explain something a million times and no matter what you do, your interlocutor thinks you mean something else. Feels like a curse to be misconstrued and to have your own position misrepresented back to you so many times.

Then, when you finally think they get it and think it’s finally over, they once again do not understand and proceed to misrepresent your position.

What am I saying wrong that makes me so hard to understand?

That’s not what I said.

That’s not what I meant at all.

That’s not what I asked for.

That’s not what I’m about.

I didn’t want anyone to get hurt.

I guess sometimes things aren’t a good fit. Pick up and move on.

My partner and I are working on a modular D&D supplement heavily featuring a complete reimagining of Thoon (of illithid lore) as a bard and Christ-like figure.

It will include a new elective mechanics set for illithid psionics to make them and individual creeds playable, new lore, a new setting, new monsters with stat sheets, new items, and more.

In addition, there is an entire backstory being written for Thoon to go along with the supplement. It's set on a cyberpunk world and features queer romance with poly, trans, and intersex rep, as well as anti-capitalist and anti-colonial/pro-indigenous themes.

Content should hopefully regularly posted on this blog and our patreon if you are interested.

I headcanon that undead illithids tend to maintain themselves better than human liches, as mindflayers are generally more vain. Auz takes extreme pride in his appearance, and takes any opportunity to show off his excellent taste. Man has an unrivaled skincare routine.

He easily has the most extravagant and luxurious wardrobe, only matched by Felix (who he regularly spoils with shopping trips.)

Thoon and Auzzimaks strongly encourage Felix’s studies, allowing him to live at the Thoonist compound rent-free so long as he lends his services. The added benefit is they get to see him all the time (they are in love with him.)

Auzzimaks hates that Thoon rides this thing, as Thoon is still mortal. Auz thinks it is unnecessary risk taking. Thoon, on the other hand, thinks it projects an image to have a roaring symbol of unadulterated masculinity between his legs, "Look at me on this thing and tell me it isn’t good for the Thoonist brand."

Felix just thinks he looks handsome on his bike, and likes riding on the back with his arms around him.

I am being so serious when I say: if you have the financial and time privilege to get a group of friends together and make an indie project, PLEASE do. Indie games, indie animations, indie comics etc etc

the art industries are kind of in the shitter. It’s not so much because of AI (though that doesn’t help) but because studios just aren’t hiring people and funding projects anymore. People who’ve been in the industry for decades are finding themselves struggling, and once you have a mortgage or kids it’s harder to do something as risky as making something on your own.

completing projects is hard. it takes a lot of time and effort, and most people can’t afford it. so if you CAN afford to make art, even at the risk of no financial gain, I strongly encourage you to be as resilient as you can. We’re at a point where these industries are not going to turn around by themselves, and waiting for jobs to open up again in order to get experience and portfolio work might not be realistic.

people have been making art and telling stories longgggg before we were getting paid for it, and people aren’t going to stop just because no one has hired them to do so.

for everyone else: support indie artists when you can!!!! That person who made that cool indie game or youtube animation or webcomic might be doing this full time! your support might be the only reason they’re able to keep doing it.
