it’s pretty telling how pervasively discussion around 2dl tends towards transhumanist narratives and visions of a (sometimes bleak, oftentimes just different) emergent future of extremely “lifelike” synthetic love as a new normal

it really speaks to the fact that people generally cannot see 2d relationships as inherently legitimate without the prospect of a simulated physical aspect/widespread societal adoption in the future — both things that 3d relationships have by default
