You ever think about how unified humanity is by just everyday experiences? Tudor peasants had hangnails, nobles in the Qin dynasty had favorite foods, workers in the 1700s liked seeing flowers growing in pavement cracks, a cook in medieval Iran teared up cutting onions, a mom in 1300 told her son not to get grass stains on his clothes, some girl in the past loved staying up late to see the sun rise.

Things you need to ask about “Shifting realities.”
1.  Have you ever heard of Lucid Dreaming?
And do you know what what Lucid Dreaming entails?   Lucid Dreaming is where you enter a dream state and take control of your dream. It can feel tactile and real to you, right down to cobblestones under your feet.  You can add depth, substance, smells, and influence personalities of the characters in your dream and the dialogue.
You can easily lose control of a Lucid Dream, especially if you are new to it.   Bad things can happen to you or the other characters.  Why would you want that to have actually happened somewhere?
2.  Why does no one seem to notice that a lot of the methods for Shifting are strikingly similar to methods of Lucid Dreaming?
I strongly suspect a lot of “Shifters” chafe at even humoring the idea that what they are doing is Lucid Dreaming and so don’t look into Lucid Dreaming, especially since it has been drilled into them that if they doubt they are shifting they won’t be able to do it.  This seems to be a malicious effort to keep the “shifter” from finding out that what they are doing are common exercises for helping induce a Lucid Dream.
3.   Is the fact that it felt like hours but only minutes passed in this world proof that it really happened?
No.  Time moves differently in a dream.  That’s how dreams work. Ten minutes in the waking world could feel like hours or days in a dream.  Or what feels like a few minutes in a dream might be eight hours in The Waking World.   Those of you who bring up the time displacement thing…  have you …never dreamed before?
4.  If you are “shifting while awake” have you ever heard of the concept of Maladaptive Daydreaming?
Maladaptive Daydreaming is a potentially unhealthy form of daydreaming in which reality and fantasy blur and you forget that you are in your own head.  It is often the result of emotional trauma and need of escapism.
5.  Have you ever heard of Transliminality?
Transliminality is a sort of half-awake state where you can control a pseudo-dream-state. You induce that “Grey” state between The Waking World and The Dreaming world and then play with it.  It’s similar to Lucid Dreaming but not quite.  It can stimulate creativity and belief in the paranormal and is brought about by meditation and sometimes breathing techniques.
The concept of transliminality was coined by a parapsycholist and deals with a mental ‘Threshold” where you are on the brink of accessing your own subconscious and can potentially alter your own mental state.   Lucid Dreaming is not necessarily a transliminal expereince but there are similarities.  Transliminal experiences are usually brought about when one is “half-asleep” and can induce experiences and sensations similar to Lucid Dreaming.
6.  Why is it easier to believe you are taking God-like dominion of an alternate universe where your favorite fantasy characters are real than it is to believe you are lucid dreaming or having a maladaptive daydream?
Why would you rather believe you gained God-like control over an entire other universe than simply appreicate that your own imagination might be that good and that vivid?  Lucid Dreaming is wonderful.  It’s nothing to be ashamed of.   It practically is another universe with how real it can be made to feel but without the consequence of manipulating the lives of others to suit your whims.  Do you really want to think of yourself as essentially doing what Wanda did to that town in WandaVision?
There are even some theories dating back to the Indigenous Australian people’s belief in Australia and Ancient Greece that the realm of dreams IS another dimension and you can collectively dream with others or dream-walk into the dreams of other individuals.   Just because something is a dream doesn’t mean it isn’t real.   Why is it so horrible to consider that you might be Lucid Dreaming?
Lucid Dreamers are creative.  They’re artists.  They’re writers.  They’re poets.   They’re dreamers.  To convince yourself you are just traversing the multiverse does a disservice and diminishes your own perception of how creative you truly are.
7.  Doesn’t the idea that any teenager can take God-like control of another universe terrify you in the least?
There seems to be a large community of (mostly) teens who think they are not only shifting but controling / scripting these other universes.   Doesn’t that frighten you at all?  Think of the worst school bully, the snottiest Harry Potter fan, the most “Toxic of shipper” and now imagine them doing this, taking the reigns of the alternate universe just to make their favorite headcanons true. Maybe they’re sadists who like to see characters tortured and mutilated.   Why would you want to humor the idea of someone who is still emotionally and physically developing, with raging hormones, being able to do this?
8.   Are you actually aware of what a “quantum jump” is?
Before throwing around terms like “quantum jumping” to “prove” reality shifting is really happening or before you ask strangers to google the concept you should make sure you actually know what the concept entails.  Quantum jumping deals with the transition of a particle (atomic particle) from one quantum state to another.  Not complex organisms like human beings, not soul transference.  It was about particles. Particles.  You are not a particle.  You are bastardizing an actual concept in physics.
“Quantum leap” was a Scifi / fantasy TV series that ended with the main protagonist learning he was actually working for God, who briefly took the form of a bar tender.  Scott Bakula’s character was not a “reality shifter.”  The show Sliders doesn’t prove your case either.
It’s almost like someone used some pseudoscience technobabble to convince these kids of the validity of Shifting and most of them never checked to see what quantum jumping actually was but just thought it “sounds sciencey so it must be true.”
9.  Have you ever actually examined the so-called proof?
Some Shifters are using a certain “deleted CIA document” and similar as proof of shifting.  Here’s the thing.  That document, like the actual scientific term, was in regard to particle transference.  It was not about soul transference through meditation, not the transportation of a complex organism or spirit.  It was in regard to atomic particles.  If you have to ignore large chunks of your own “evidence” to make it prove your case… it doesn’t prove your case…
Yes, multiverse theory is a thing in theoretical physics and has been covered by such figures as the late Stephen Hawking.  Yes, it IS likely that for every possible outcome of an event there is a potential alternate universe. This is covered in theoretical physics.  However, there is nothing in the theory that says you are able to transfer your soul to your ideal reality where your favorite fictional characters are real and in easy reach.
The multiverse theory has been around for a long time.  The first pop culture fictional TV depiction of it was in the 1960s Soap Opera Dark Shadows where it was called Parallel Time.  There’s nothing wrong in the notion of multiverse.   It’s common in science fiction, comic books, TV, fantasy literature, films, and theoretical physics.  It is the idea of manipulating these realities, traveling to specific ones and controlling them that should be questioned.
And yes, the CIA did experiment with mind expansion, psychic powers, and astral projection. There are records of their astral projection experiments and even a comedic film about their psychic research called “Men who stare at goats.”
The CIA experimenting with astral projection is not the same as entering your favorite work of fantasy literature.
10.  Do you really believe there are ancient spiritual beliefs tied to reality shifting?
The notion that modern day “Shifting to… Hogwarts” has its roots in real spiritualism does a disservice to New Age religions and Neo Paganism.
Yes, meditative practices do have roots in religions such as Buddhism, along with astral projection and transcending to other dimensions or states of being, and this is a respected aspect of many religions including modern New Age beliefs and occult practitioners, HOWEVER and this is a big however…   there is no record of any of these beliefs leading to the “scripting” of a reality” or entering a universe where popular works of fiction are not only true but that you happen to be physically near the protagonists or favorite characters.
During the brief European, medieval, fascination with Eastern religions, occultism, and alchemy, you could find people like Doktor Johann Georg Faustus (basis for the legend of Faust) in Germany, writing grimoires where he claimed to have levitated a cloak, summoned demons, and done many strange things while meditating but he never once claimed he entered the world of Reynard The Fox.    During the late nineteenth century / early twentieth century occult craze, in the UK and USA, not even Alistair Crowley claimed he was entering Alice’s Wonderland, Oz, or the fantasy world from George MacDonald’s Lilith. The 1960s and early 70s resurgence of New Age meditative practices did not result in hippies believing they entered Middle Earth or Narnia.
11.   What is the Raven Method?
Terms like “The Raven Method” of meditation are thrown around.  Some people are trying to give it legitimacy since there is a Yoga position called the Raven pose.  In reality this “method” is the “Starfish position.”   You lay on the ground with your arms spread, and legs spread.
This “Raven” method was actually named for… wait for it… the DC comics character, Raven, from the Teen Titans comics…  but more precisely from the cartoon incarnation, probably because someone saw her meditating…
Conspicuously a raven is also the familiar of Morpheus, the living embodiment of Dreams, from Neil Gaiman’s The Sandman, which is now a series on Netflix.
12.  I felt Tingling and numb. Doesn’t that mean it works?
No.   Tingling and numbness is common if your blood is not circulating properly, which can and does happen if you’re in a starfish or “Raven” pose.  It can also be a sign of oncoming sleep-paralysis which is often experienced in the half-way state between sleep and waking, which can mean you have hit transliminality.
13.   Do you know what Confirmation-bias is?
Confirmation bias is when you deliberately distort results and evidence to make what you experienced more accurate to your preconceived notions and assumptions.  You see this often with religious people or people who desperately want to believe their previously established views are true.
There is a pressure in the “Shifting community” to believe completely and without question and this has actively discouraged people from looking into things like Lucid Dreaming or even the actual meaning of quantum jumping.
The fact that it is a persistent mantra that you must absolutely believe and without question is a serious red flag.  Anything that tells you that you mustn’t question things is a thing that most assuredly deserves to be questioned.
14.   Do you consider the moral implications of this belief?
First you would you be taking away free-will and agency from apparently “real people” to suit your “scripted” fantasy as a God-like presence in this other universe.  Then you would also (according to some shifters) be “leaving behind a clone” of yourself with your personality and memories to live your life for you while you’re in this other universe.  Some say this “clone” is only there while yoru body is unconscious but the implication is you create a spiritual duplicate of yourself who may not know they are a clone and probably has the same longing for this other universe you do.  And now you’ve trapped them in this world until they learn to shift.  And a perpetual cycle is born.
Not only that but if you are entering a corporeal body in that other universe what happens to the soul that was occupying that body?   Why don’t you care?   The want to be able to do this is borderline sociopathic when you consider what you even believe you’d be doing to others.
You’re creating a horror movie scenario where any teenager can become a cruel and petty God lording over a universe that just happens to have Draco Malfoy or The Witcher, X-Men or the cast of Carnival Row…
15.  What happens if a version of you from a world only slightly different from this one (i.e. the world where you ate strawberries for breakfast instead of pancakes) also wants to shift to the same universe?
Do you fight for control?  What happens then?
Why do none of you ask these questions?  Critical thinking is your friend.
_________________________
I am very bothered that this concept is discouraging the creative by telling them “You’re not really being creative.  You’re just channeling this other universe.”  It tells them that nothing comes from their own hearts, their own minds, their own experiences, their own emotions, passions, beliefs, or artistic potential.  And that’s heartbreaking.   It’s telling the creative that they don’t really create and you have no idea how discouraging and cruel that truly is.   Can you fathom how many aspiring authors this might have made put down the preverbal pens because they think what they are imagining isn’t really theirs?  No secret worlds deep inside each human heart… No dreams…  You can’t begin to fathom how terrible that truly is. ____________________
