[headcanons and shit like that]
Yeah, that ending was wack. I didn't like Junko and Yuri, but I'm excited to possibly see Nanno take them out. Their ideals sounded rather pretentious and honestly remind me of one of my old middle school friends who tried so hard to be edgy. Like there is a way to approach those ideals and have meaningful conversations about them, but the show didn't do that good of a job convening that. It was rather bland and just revokes what had drawn me to Nanno.
I know they tried to build up Yuri as a big "bad" (Big quotations on bad.) but God is she so bland in comparison to other characters of her archetype. (Nanno and Tomie being the most common.)
Maybe I'll change my opinion later on but as of now she isn't that compelling or interesting of a character. (This is about the character rather than actress and voice actresses.)
Also, Junko wasn't that interesting either, the metaphor between Junko and Her mother & Nanno and Yuri was sloppy at best, very in your face. And the episode didn't do anything for the character. Because the "plot twist" was expected, as many similar stories have been passed around for years, the reveal was underwhelming at best.
This is kinda ass, but I'm happy that it's at least done. I had a different version, but I like this one more. It was originally going to be an edit with a beginning segment of someone using a computer. It was going to be something like 'Pov: You're Mikami'.
Have this Birthday Edit for Light, It's not great but I thinks it's okay.
So I've been rereading Death Note and rewatching the anime, cause it's been years since I've seen either.
And I'm wondering why we never bring up the fact that Light (or what we can see of him before he is fully kira) reacted in a very interesting manner when compared to later in the series. Like in the manga, Light is clearly distraught/disturbed by having killed two people. Stating that he hasn't been able to sleep in five days, vomiting (after the vehicle death, finally aware that he is the one responsible for two deaths) , having nightmares (possibly night terrors) and loosing a considerable amount of weight in a short period (10 pounds). (The anime takes away a lot of Light before he was completely engulfed in the idea of Kira... So we don't see this in the anime.)
Like I want to look deeper into the implications of what this shows us of his character before the Death note. Cause their are a lot of actions that Kira does that come so naturally, which leads me to think that they'd been second nature to light or were part of his day to day life in a more water down manner. Such as the manipulation of Misa.
Anyways, here are some manga panels that go with what I said
