Chapter 7 - History Repeating

Fred Weasley/OC x Minor Draco Malfoy/OC

“Cheerleaders?” she said, narrowing her eyes at him. Lee and George sniggered as Fred smiled sweetly at her. “I asked Heather about them. Not a chance, Weasley.”

Fred shrugged before taking a bite of his toast. “I just thought it would be a good look on you is all.”

George and Lee returned to their conversation as Fred leaned forward, lowering his voice. “But if you won’t do the cheerleader outfit, I would settle for the dress you wore to the Yule Ball.”

Elara could feel her heart rate quicken as she frowned, taken aback. “The green one?”

“That’s the one,” he said with a glint in his eye before leaning back and winking at her.

I took such a long break from writing and tonight I've finally sat and smashed out a whole chapter and I'm looking at the rest of my plan and I'm just stumped.

The first part of my story takes place over a school year. The second part is taking place over two school years plus a bit, but I don't want to split it into another book. Gah, what do I do? Do I just have a much longer part two? The difference in length is going to end up being like jumping from Philosphers Stone to Order of the Pheonix. Nothings working! Oh writing Gods, please send me a reasonable plan for this.

Elara had barely time to raise her wand when it zoomed out of her grasp and landed on the floor, Fred laughing triumphantly.

“Hey!” she reprimanded. “I wasn’t ready!”

“Well a Death Eater isn’t going to wait for you to fix your hair, is he? There’s no manners with those guys.”

“Shouldn’t you be showing a little restraint by going easy on me?”

He shrugged before smirking back at her. “I’ve never been able to show restraint around you.”

MATE its half past midnight here right now and i just finished reading Chimera in one stint. Its my first fanfic I've read in like 8ish years and oh my god it was so perfect. why i don’t ship any of the mauraders together

I want to preface this by saying this is not an anti-ship post. If you are all about the WolfStar life then you do you! I love seeing your creativity with it, your art work, fanfiction and imaginations. It’s totally wonderful to me.

I personally don’t ship it though and I’ll tell you why.

Firstly, the friendships I have are the most important relationships in my life. Some of my friends have been a part of my life for more than 20 years. They’ve cheered me on in my triumphs, they’ve cried with me and they’ve told me to stfu when I needed to hear it. Every phone call I have with them ends with a ‘love you’ because I am completely and utterly in love with my friends.

Which brings me to my second point. I’m female. Female friendships have mostly always been open and celebrated, yet we all know societies expectations of men when it comes to emotions and masculinity. Thankfully we’re starting to pick this apart but the concept of ‘bromance’ is still fairly new. But men are in love with their friends just as much as we are. 

The marauders to me are one of the few examples in modern media that truly showcases deep, meaningful male friendships. We know that these guys will literally die to protect one another. We know that the death of one of them and the shameful betrayal of the other absolutely destroyed them. And we know that they truly love one another. 

At the lowest point in my life, I stayed alive because I knew my friends would be  devastated by my loss. Because I know they love me. I want to see more portrayals of these types of male friendships. The marauders are one of my favourite things about the HP series because it feels authentic. I really hope to see more male friendships like this shown because it is completely real and completely necessary. Platonic love is the best, man.

Chapter 5 - The Missing Prince

“Have you heard from him? Your father?” he asked.  

“No,” she said, crossing her arms. Like she needed Draco to remind her of her dad’s disregard for her feelings.  

“My father’s looking for him.”

Elara sighed. “Then tell your father to write to him. Or even better, visit him at the Ministry. Your father practically lives there, does he not?”

Draco furrowed his brow, looking genuinely surprised at her reaction. “Elara, your father hasn’t been going to work. No one’s seen or heard from him in a fortnight.”

Chapter 4 - Family Comes First

“He kissed me. At his birthday party.”

“Did you kiss him back?”  

“No,” she said quickly. “I pushed him away and then I left.”

Elara didn’t know if she’d ever seen Fred so angry. His face seemed to match the colour of his hair as his nostrils flared. “That slimy bastard! I’m going to kill him!”

Elara interrupted before he could continue on in his expletive filled rant against Draco, talking over him loudly. “Technically, he didn’t do anything wrong.”

Fred opened and closed his mouth a few times in indignation before finally finding his words. “He didn’t do anything wrong?!” he said incredulously. “He kissed -”

“- a single girl at his birthday party. We told everyone we had broken up Fred, and ultimately that turned out to be true.”

Fred stared back at her dumbfounded. “Is that what you thought?”

Inspo for Chapter 2 - The Birthday Party

Does anyone else go into ridiculous details when writing their fics? This is the dress I envisioned when writing chapter 2, but then I had to remove the long sleeves as ~summer~ but also it made more sense for Draco touching her arm.

Also after writing the chapter, weeks later I saw this image, I know it's Dramione but it's pretty much how I saw Draco and Elara's dance in my head.

Anyway, I have all these useless photos saved in my phone that inspire me and I thought I could share them here since absolutely no one asked at all :)

Chapter 3 - A Cruel Twist of Fate

She followed Fred into an empty classroom, her stomach seemingly doing somersaults and her palms sweating. She’d never felt like this around him before, it was the first time she’d ever wanted to run away from him.

“How was your summer?” he asked once the door had closed.  

She blinked at him, “Yeah, really smashing, thanks.”

He sighed, hearing the sarcasm in her voice. “I’m sorry, Elara. I really am -”

“It’s fine,” she said, cutting him off. She didn’t think she could stomach standing there a minute longer, waiting to hear the inevitable that he was finished with her. Months of knowing it in her heart was one thing but to actually hear him say it... Even at the thought of those words coming from his lips Elara felt the crushing weight of her summer all over again.
