uh so i never do this but maui is quite literally on fire and there isn't nearly enough care or consideration for. you know. Native Hawaiians who live here being displaced and the land (and cultural relevance) that's being eaten up by the fire. so if ya'll wanna help, here's some links:
I don’t know if you guys saw this, but a dear friend of mine was involved and I think it’s really cool. 100 people from all over the UK and from all walks of life came together to learn and to discuss ideas on what they could do to help preserve nature and secure a brighter and greener future for everyone. They created The People’s Plan for Nature, and I absolutely loved seeing so many different kinds of people from all different cultures and backgrounds get together and problem solve like this. I’m not in the UK, but I applaud everyone who was involved and encourage everyone that can to try and help preserve nature in any way they can, wherever they may be. Even if all you can do is something small. Small does not mean insignificant. Every action we take in combatting global warming and the destruction of natural spaces is a good one, be it joining an activist group, planting a small window box garden or simply allowing dandelions to stay in your yard for longer so the bees have something to eat.
So if you have a moment, peep the videos above or wander on over to their website (link below) to show your support!
Listen, “asshole with a heart of gold” is a good trope but you know what we need more than that???
Dumbass with a heart of gold. Just, a complete moron who cares a whole fucking lot. An idiot who would die for a stranger. A goddamn dimwit so fucking in love with someone that they’d do anything for ‘em.
Yeah, uh, it was a mild mismanagement issue. We’re working on it.
Can't stop thinking about muntjac deer. See the thing with muntjacs is that they have these large scent glands below the eyes and on the forehead, and they use them to mark territory. Many types of deer have the glands in front of the eyes (pre-orbital) but muntjac are unique in having forehead glands (frontal). Here's the video I saw. There's something really unsettling about the idea of an animal being able to like. Open it's face. Idk I think it's madly creepy but it's like a perfectly natural thing for the animal to do. It just looks scary.
For a fun Valentine’s Day special, I’ll be joining my older brother on Twitch. Be there for siblings shenanigans, feral banter and a walk through a dumpster fire post-apocalyptic world of its own design: Vintage Story. In between that, I will happily answer spoiler free questions about the Illthdar series.
Another that comes to mind off the top of my head is @esbarrison-author
a recent goal of mine is to support more indie authors, since a lot of the books I’ve read this year have been more mainstream or traditionally published. adult fantasy authors this is your sign to to shamelessly promote your books in the replies! Bonus points for non-western / non-eurocentric fantasy 👉🏾👈🏾
