I don’t think it matters if you have fallen in love or lived together with someone or not to write about Cloud and Tifa’s domestic partnership. Why do people who haven’t fallen in love study Romeo and Juliet? Just like writing a literary critical essay, we just have to look at the constant themes of family within Case of Tifa and Advent Children, and how they are a functional family. But I’m guessing this is going to be in a personal essay...

I don't think Cloud and Tifa are similar to common real life relationships, and that is why their relationship is so special. They are not married, but their characters represent married parental figures.  Together they take the role of parents for both Marlene and Denzel whom they both call their children. They constantly refer to themselves as a family. Barret refers to Tifa as “momma” when he talked to Denzel in Advent Children. Tifa describes Cloud like a father in Case of Tifa. Relationships like these are not very common, in real life or in media.

I mean seriously, where can you find a family that:

1. Does not have/were never married parents (Cloud and Tifa).

2. Have two non-blood related children (Denzel and Marlene to Cloud and Tifa).

3. The children are also not blood related (Denzel and Marlene).

4. Has a child that has two adoptive fathers (Marlene to Cloud and Barret).

5. Parents are not married but is in a relationship (Cloud and Tifa).

6. Has gone through war.

7. Have both parents working that have an overall low to standard income.

8. Are all still living together despite these circumstances.

 Using Case of Tifa to prove that the relationship between Cloud and Tifa is dysfunctional is baseless, because it ignores the resolutions that happen in Advent Children. Case of Tifa is great because it describes what hardships a family like Cloud and Tifa’s could go through. To have a family that fought through war and lost people they loved, and with children that have had other complex relationships. In Advent Children, everything is resolved. Tifa was the one who understood Cloud’s deepest pains, and in the end, they were still living together. Despite the geostigma, despite the return of Sephiroth, and despite the loss of Aerith and Zack, Cloud and Tifa are still together, and are worthy parents that can have a functional family.

Thank you! I appreciate that. Some of the rabid Cleriths are just mad because they know it's true that they attack us a lot. Sometimes it's best to just reply with a short and sweet gif rather than a full-length message of which they will most often just refuse to even acknowledge.

And they're also jealous because Cloud and Tifa riding off together on a motorcycle fits the situation perfectly.

Cleriths can have an anti-cloti and anti-tifa tag, also they put their hate in our CloTi and Tifa tags. It's okay when they do it but when CloTis even show a sign of retaliation suddenly it's not okay, suddenly we're rabids.

Thank you for saying this. A majority of the CloTi community has been nothing but respectful. We celebrate the CloTi fandom without bashing other shippings and other fans.

Posts that are anti-cloti and anti-tifa that constantly "contaminate" our CloTi and Tifa tags, as well as the rude anon messages that we get were the inspiration for the gifs in the first place! If some Cleriths are so offended, maybe they should stop harassing us, right?

Are you sick and tired of the random messages you get from some cruel Cleriths? Do you get those bullsh*t spam posts? Don't you just wish you can express your frustration, but there are so many haters that you can't reply to every single one? You just want to say "SCREW YOU!" but you're so polite that you can't do so. Especially to those non-logical, unreasonable posts that have the worst arguments ever.
